Location was very good. However, there was no breakfast provided by hotel. Of course I should have realized by type of hotel that breakfast may not be included. We would have liked to have had breakfast but then again we would have missed breakfast at Mobjacks which was such a great experience that we stopped back there for lunch.

The hotel overall was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was nicely appointed. Many of the channels on the tv did not get a clear picture. The gueen bed was horrible. It need to be replaced years ago. Not supportive at all. We had a horrible nights sleep.

I loved the fact that everything was there in the room and it felt like taking the kids to a home away from home I did not like the fact that our mattress pad and mattress itself was nasty , and it was late when we realized it and had to move rooms at 12 1 o clock in morning with 3 kids by myself and I was already exhausted and ready to go to sleep. In the future they should pay attention to the reservation to make sure everyone is accommodated properly. I booked for 3 kids one adult so we was going to use the pullout couch. Also when we arrived our room smelled like nail polish remover if the previous guest did that, why not put us in a room cleaner ? We moved across the hall so it was a better room for us.

I have a gluten intolerance and the staff had idea what was safe for me or not for breakfast belong the obvious like fruit, bacon and yogurt.

Location Had three rooms with two under my name and one under my sons name; and all between rooms and floors had heavy smoke smell on one floor and in bathroom of another room on separate floor. Majority of building cameras for security had covers removed or hanging off. One room had smoke detector covered with plastic. Third room had heavy chemical smell. Advised by staff, no other rooms were available.

Not a bad room but the following needs your attention: room was not cleaned very well. Toilet paper dispenser loose and paper falling off. Shower drain is very very slow draining.

My room (115) was right near the front lobby and the elevator. I could everyone coming through late night, which caused me to wake up several times throughout each night. I recommend that before assigning this room, please ask if the guest is okay to be near the lobby and elevator as there is more foot traffic than other rooms. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay. Thank you!

The kitchen area was disgusting. The dishes and utensils were filthy and had dried food and drink stains on them. The floor was so disgustingly filthy that we had to keep our shoes on and they were sticking to the floor. I used a wet paper towel to wipe a small area of the floor and the paper towel was almost black. DISGUSTING!!! The room smelled of urine. DISGUSTING!!! The bathroom was was filthy as well. There was hair everywhere. The floor was the same as the entry and kitchen floor. DISGUSTING!!! The vanity cabinet fronts and drawers were so sticking and gross.

I am here under very stressful circumstances, and everybody has been wonderful. The room is exactly what I needed. And I’m very very happy with this especially since it is not a trip for pleasure.

Checkout at 2 a.m. was A+ and that person was kind and sweet.

The suite was very clean and bed was comfortable. Kitchen had all necessary items, would stay there again. On the pricier side, for NNews this is oddly expensive.

The floors in our room were very sticky, like they haven't been mopped from the last stay.I had to drive an hour away to take my kid to VA Beach because your pool was closed the entire time of our stay. Which was NOT made ware of during time of booking. Which cost us more gas. The shower had blonde hair everywhere, the table looked like it was lifting up,

There were awful smells. First in the lobby and the room smells were way too strong cleaning solutions. We asked to move to another room. The next room had a slight bad smell but was better then the strong cleaning solutions smell. Made the stay pretty bad. Will never stay there again. Staff was not friendly. Seemed to be bothered by us.

I was not aware of any breakfast offered. I didn't like the $75 pet fee. I felt that was excessive! Also the pet walking area was not taken care of...more a proplem of pet owners not cleaning up after their pets.

The side door of the building was always open which again was a security risk to guests staying there. It wasn’t secure at all which we did not like as we were traveling with 2 small children. The only positive of this hotel was that it was in close proximity to stores, food and the interstate.

Candlewood suites is in a good location with Restauraunts nearby. The room was nice and updated. We would definitely rebook at Candlewood suites. We were looking for the ice machine but realized there was an ice maker in the fridge. Parking was easy and well lit.

I love this hotel. It is convenient to restaurants, stores and major routes. I spent 7 nights there and not one disappointing moment.

One room was smoked in another had a very strong mold smell. We requested a refund and moved on down the road

The front desk were friendly people, welcoming, smiling. I loved my little kitchen, and the bed was extremely comfortable. I highly recommend anyone to stay there. It’s wonderful and I’m gonna go back again.

Nestled off the beaten path just enough to be quiet and comfortable. Close enough to get to everything. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Beds sit high. Im 5ft, 4in and it took more than a little hop to get into bed.

On first entry, the room appeared clean but we were disappointed to find raw meat left in fridge, moldy coffee filter in coffee pot, no extra coffee, 1/2 roll of TP with no extra, no trash can in bathroom, shower curtain spewed with something red- brown?? While the staff were apologetic, they didn’t seemed overly concerned.

I was charged twice for the same stay I booked through Expedia and someone from the hotel called me the next day to check me in and I was assured that when I checked out I would be refunded the extra charge but I have not been refunded I paid 436 for my stay and I got charged an additional 429 for the same stay and all of my banking records indicate that I was charge twice for the same stay and I was assured by the general manager that I would be refunded when I checked out so I will give it a few more days and see if what I was told is the case but so far I’ve been charge double for the same stay. I still have my banking records that indicate that I have indeed been charge twice for the same stay at candlewood suites Yorktown if you need to see proof I will gladly provide it for you. Little tight on parking spaces but I did find the last one. The room was very clean and comfortable. Checking in was great and the young lady working the front desk was extremely polite and knowledgeable. Wish they had a continental breakfast.

The room was clean and overlooked the lake which I thought was very nice. While parking was free and easy the location of the hotel made everything walkable. I didn't need the car always so that was nice. I had a great stay. Thank you.

The drawers in my rom wouldnt stay shut, lots od mainrwnanxe issues. Prevuous guesta put tape on the drawer to keep closed. Lots of residue. Loved that there is free launsry but one working washer makes it hard ro get your clothes clean.

Great staff, very accommodating. Great for families. I had the 1 queen bed suite which was clean, spacious, modern, with all the conveniences worthy of a family trip

Says there is limited housekeeping if you stay less than 7 days. But it is non-existant. You have to go to the desk to get towels, toilet paper, trash bags or anything. You had to almost beg for supplies, vacuum your own room, change and dispose of trash and deal with the nasty and unprofessional staff. They were constantly blocking the common areas to the point of guests not being able to pass and having to move things in order to. We stayed 6 nights and there was a stack of supplies hindering the 1st floor hallway and it was still there at check-out. Room had been updated and had nice fixtures. But for the price i will stay elsewhere for better service from now on.

Nice low key hotel. Decent size room w/ full kitchenette. Huge bathroom counter for all your personal stuff. Pet friendly with a part laminate floor. Always free coffee in lobby. Convenient to everything in Newport News.

We were a little disappointed In our stay. Our room smelled like cigarettes even though it was supposed to be a non smoking room. Also, the air conditioner did not put out much cool air during the stay and it was 84 degrees outside. Finally, the hallway and elevator were hot, stuffy and had a lingering smell of marijuana.

We had ants in our room. Something sticky was left on the floor in addition to what looked like dog food. We killed about 12 ants total. They just kept coming out!!! My husband went to the front desk, they gave us bug spray and told us someone would come at 11am to clean...noone showed up. I guess we were supposed to put a sign on the door for cleaning but we weren't told that. We assumed because of the nature of the situation someone would just come. The room was clean and comfortable, but cleaning is only once a week. Needed some repairs (doors stops falling off & bent, shower was dripping, & microwave was noisy). Taking the COVID thing into consideration, it was not a bad experience.

The rooms in general were nice. It was suite style so the room offered a stove , microwave , full size refrigerator and freezer with a spacious bathroom and desk area. However , when I first arrived the front desk associate was in the back and took a while to greet me and there was a left over opened beer bottle in the refrigerator. I called the front desk to let the woman know and she seemed unapologetic and unbothered which naturally bothered me as cleanliness is extremely important during a pandemic. However the housekeeping staff did stop by the next morning to clean the fridge out so that helped

Staff was accommodating and friendly, but the rooms smelled musty and like cigarettes. There was dirt and hair along the sideboards of the floor, and stains on the bedsheets.

We stayed at this hotel while in between houses. The room was clean but a few things from other guests were left behind. The front desk staff was helpful. Safe location.

When we arrived our room had been given to somebody else but they corrected it the next day. None of the outside card readers work so you can only come in the front and after 11pm you have to knock on the door because they have no phone installed.

The staff was helpful and pleasant. The room was large and thoughtfully outfitted.

Helpful staff. Clean property. Fast checkin. They made us feel like we were at home.

Donate at the front desk was amazing from check in to check out. He was very nice and accommodating.

We were booked into a nice room #100, but the smell of cigarette smoke was so strong we got a headache and my husband was sick all day. They were nice enough to change our room (we waited in the lobby half the morning until the room was ready) we were given room 117 which was nice also until we went to the bathroom. The nicotine smell was strong, we bought a candle to be able endure the rest of our stay.

We checked in on Thursday and checked out on Sunday. No house keeping on weekdays/weekends. Freezer start leaking when turned on Ice maker. Called the front desk multiple times, they fixed it and didn't clean the leaked water. Called multiple times but of no use.

Very nice and clean. Staff was friendly. Suite had everything you needed for an extended stay. And there was more to "borrow" from in the lobby if you needed more. We say blenders and slow cookers to name a few. They even had games you could borrow!

The room has a smell and the kindly informed me they clean the rooms once a week.

Everything was clean and the studio provided everything to make my stay easier. The hotel offers free laundry and free coffee all day. It is located very close to convenient stores, supermarkets, restaurants, etc

The room as depicted online was not available. I selected that particular room for a reason and some other room was booked instead. This was totally unsatisfactory and not the reason I used this 3rd party to book my room. This will be the last time I use expedia...they do not deliver on promises or agreements. I really would like to get my money back for this mishap.
