Hallway smelled of Pot. Did not feel safe. No soap in the shower dispenser. Would never stay here again.

The property was clean, well maintained, staff was friendly. Breakfast was additional $. Parking was behind the building and lot is sloped. Access from parking lot is thru rear entrance. Our room was upgraded (not sure why but extra space was appreciated) though if I was paying for the suite I would say it was sparse.

Room was comfortable and clean. Shower was good. Loved the pool. Thought staff was friendly and capable. I saw the manager dealing with a gentleman I can only describe as a "Karen" who was complaining that the pool was being cleaned around mandatory check out time in the a.m. He was a jerk but the manager kept cool and stayed polite. Kudos.

I enjoyed the stay, the safe, clean, and comfortable room, and friendly staff. For future stays, I will bring a bag for my recyclables and will eat locally rather than spending extra for the breakfast buffet that is free at many hotels.

The check in set the tone for the whole stay some mean black lady right off the rip had an attitude and was rude for no reason. We were checking in at 11pm and the doors were locked and she didn’t offer any direction or help until I didn’t know which of the 2 doors unlocked because there’s no sign and then acted like she couldn’t be bothered to tell me which door like I should know. Everything. It was sweltering when we got in our room and we put the ac as low as it would go and the empathetic the room never changed. We had 2 small babies with us that we had to change their normal sleeping attire and how they slept because it was so hot. Which made them sleep awful which meant we didn’t get to sleep hardly at all.

Drug dealers stayed in the room across the hall from us. People were in and out of their room all night. They were slamming the door nonstop and cussing in the hallway and smoking marijuana. We checked out after the first night. We were supposed to stay 3 nights but had to leave after just one night. Bad experience. Front desk assistant told me he was going to notify Expedia that we were leaving after one night. Thanks

Reasonable price for the hotel. Close to several restaurants. Neighborhood felt safe and close to the interstate. Pet friendly. I knew about the $25 pet fee. It did not state in the description that there was a $50 fee per night as well. I believe it caps at $100.

The location was very close to town- walking distance to restaurants. The room was very quiet despite large hotel parking lot full in the morning.Nice desk area with ample charging outlets. Elevators came fast Good ice machine. The mattress was a little soft. Candy bars were $3.25 each in lobby.

This is less a commentary on the hotel and more on the lack of effectiveness of the communication between myself, Expedia, and the property. I had a reservation for two nights this past weekend, and my flight was delayed and ultimately cancelled. I used the Expedia app to contact the property to make them aware and to request they hold the reservation for Saturday, when I did ultimately arrive, since I knew I'd be recorded as a no-show otherwise. It is not clear whether this information was received by the property at all, and when I arrived on Saturday and attempted to check in, I was in fact informed I was recorded as a no-show and my reservation was cancelled. What is the point of providing a method to communicate with the hotel if the messages aren't sent and/or seen? I will likely not use Expedia again for booking hotels as a result of this issue.

The location is perfect for attending my college child's games at Winston Salem State. It is close by, fairly priced, and easy to navigate to and from. The room is a great size and I can appreciate the counter space! Parking! Since it is an event center, parking as a hotel guest when an event is happening can be frustrating, but not impossible.
- 5/5
Everything was clean and fresh. Staff was polite and helpful even before I arrive and it was the same in person. I will stay again when I come home to visit!

Rooms were clean, but our room was missing soap, shampoo, etc. Notified front desk, but never received items. After reading other reviews, we were disappointed as we expected a better experience. Only positive, rooms were clean.

The breakfast was not very good at all for the price since everything was either out of a bag or pre cooked. For the price of staying in you establishment you should do better. Everything!!!! And thou your rooms were very nice what's up with those kindergarten toilets at least put a hand rail there to pull ourselves up we are grown adults not little children

Our check-in was noticeably slow. Our reservation was for one night only; we left in the morning before the required checkout time. My niece was in the room next to us. Later that day, we were out shopping and both of us received a call from the hotel asking if we had left. ? We (both) told them our reservation was for one night only. The attendant thanked us and hung up. I’ve since checked my card, only one night was charged. I’m wondering if the front desk got confused or something……

Hotel is run down. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Bathrooms need refurbishment. We were facing the pool and a flood light they had on all night made it difficult to sleep even with the curtains drawn. AC stopped working on the last night and it was too late to call maintenance so it was uncomfortable to sleep. Elevators smelled like weed most of the time.

- 4.5/5
Great location downtown. Very clean and well maintained. Staff was very friendly and helpful when I had a key issue. It’s a little dated and the room, especially bathroom was quite small. But not uncomfortably so. The room also lacked a desk and needed more outlets and usb ports.

Good customer service. TV was easy to use. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner. Sound of water dripping would be heard from the refrigerator once per hour which woke me up a couple of times.

We were told on Hotels.com that the buffet breakfast was included with the hotel stay. I paid extra for that, in fact. But not any more. We have to purchase a $10.95 breakfast ticket. What kind of "Inn and Conference Center" doesn't have a business center? I had to travel several miles to an Office Depot to print a document. All of my disappointment is compounded because I recommended this hotel to several family members who flew 3,000 miles to meet us in Winston-Salem, only to stay in a sub-par hotel. My family and I have stayed here in the past, as recently as 3 years ago. The service was excellent. Not any more. I don't know if they changed management or are just trying to deal with inflation. I don't care. I just know that I will never stay here again.
- 5/5
All good, location is a plus

We were there two days and our room was not cleaned and they never told us that would be the case. We ran out of towels and coffee. We had our 1 inch slice of soap that barely lasted two days. Be aware of the parking lot because there’s a sign that says they’re not responsible for break-ins, etc. That should be your first clue. I couldn’t get a copy of my bill because they said I booked through another agency, and that is the first time that I’ve ever happened to me. They don’t provide the ability to get Netflix on their TVs by using your own sign in code. Their TV was so dated and unclear that we tried to watch the golf tournament and couldn’t see the ball hitting the green.

Pet friendly. I had my two dogs with me as we came to town last minute for a family emergency. Booking was easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking lot does fill up quickly at night so be aware of that. Weather was oddly chilly but the pool wasn’t prepped for spring/summer yet.

Great location, great staff and the property was a bit dated on the outside but surprising on the inside. It wasn’t really handicap accessible, however, the front desk staff upgraded our room to a king suite which made it easy to maneuver in.
- 4/5
It was a nice place to stay close to the hospital where my husband had surgery!
- 1/5
I was very disappointed with my stay. The person who checked me in was very nice, but she told me nothing about the amenities. Nothing about the pool breakfast anything just here’s your keys. I went to the room open the door. It smelled like cigarette smoke. I requested a non-smoking room. the carpet was dirty looking needs to be removed. The shower was complicated and hard to figure out. They told me that I had to go down steps with my luggage or walk around the entire building to get to the entrance with the ramp and elevator then it appears that they do have an elevator for the handicap, but that’s not the elevator they want you to use you just need to struggle with your luggage down steps or walk around the entire building. I know it’s a very old hotel but hospitality can make up for a lot of things I was in the lobby for a while no one no one in the staff say hello (4people)how are you doing anything are you OK? Do you need anything? Anything very unfriendly environment? If you have to stay there the price is good and you can get a shower in a decent bed to sleep in, but that’s probably about it for me anyway. I called at night to complain about the smoke. It was pretty much mood unpleasant what do you want me to do attitude wow really absolutely no apologies no empathy no care. Oh I forgot no luggage carts,

My husband and I were constantly saying that this was one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff were very friendly and extremely welcoming. The room was exceptionally clean. The only issue I had was that the breakfast was not free as it was at the other hotels we stayed at. I give them credit, they let us know ahead of time that we had to pay for our breakfast. We chose to stay there even when we knew that the breakfast was not included in the price of our room. We just went to McDonald’s and got our breakfast, so it was not a big issue. Although I still wish the breakfast was included but the coffee was free😃. I will still give them 5 stars ⭐️ because of all the other great features! I highly recommend The Hawthorne to anyone looking for an exceptional hotel to stay at!!!

The staff was exceptional! Very nice & extremely accommodating! It is an older hotel, so with that come things like very small elevators & bathrooms that are a bit dated.
- 4/5
Staff was welcoming and very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The property is adjacent to several walkable restaurant locations. Plenty of easy parking, with maybe a dozen vehicles parked there. But 3 vehicles (at least) had people sitting in them with doors open, just sitting there. They were not gathering items from their vehicle. They just sat there watching other guests come and go. I went in and expressed my concern to the welcome desk and the staff there told me they were monitoring them on camera. That satisfied me in the short term, but I had not encountered that situation in my stays elsewhere. In the morning, by fears of possible break-in to our vehicle were unfounded.

The breakfast was totally disgusting. A clump of cold scrambled eggs and something that looked like a boiled burger patty. Yikes

Only major issue was I was on the 5th floor and one elevator was out of service when I arrived, on night 2 of my stay, the other elevator was out of service too so I had to hike up the 5 floors. I was told by the front desk that it was reported and someone was coming that night to address the elevators. Upon waking up the next morning, Both were repaired and back in service. So the issue was handled promptly. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Awesome value, amenities, location, etc. Highly recommended.

The bathroom needs a major overhaul. Mold has begun to grow, and the body wash dispenser is malfunctioning. Additionally, there’s a mirror positioned behind the TV. These specific issues deterred us from returning to this hotel. The rest of the hotel was average.

We've stayed here a lot but this was the first time that the refrigerator did not get cold enough and had water in it from the condensation. I told management so it can be fixed.

Not easy to access, the hotel or the rooms. Dogs barking constantly, very loud in general. No sound proofing at all.
- 3/5
Breakfast was for a fee but wasn’t really worth it. Parking area and check-in were inconvenient. You need to request services and towels.
- 4/5
Breakfast is basic and an extra charge. Parking was fine. Only one elevator worked so there were waits l
- 4/5
Rooms a little tired but really clean and spacious. Breakfast not included but can be purchased. Not lots of choice but convenient and nice what they had.
- 5/5
The place is nice but received an additional charge which the Hawthorn hotel could not explain…told me to reject the charge ..extra hassle I don’t need.
- 4/5
We emjoyed our stay. Hotel was conveniently located, front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel is clean and well maintained. Our beds were comfortable and the sheets/pillows/towels were good quality, which sometimes isn’t the case in older hotels like this. Knocked off one star because of mildew on our shower walls which should have been addressed but otherwise our room and the hotel itself felt very clean.
- 4/5
The hotel is very clean and I noticed the 98% cleanliness rating behind the front desk. The location is very convenient to the highway. I was disappointed because the balconies on the building are fake. You cannot access them. Also you cannot bring your luggage through the front lobby. You have to go around to the back of the hotel to bring in your luggage. At least there are elevators inside the back door. While the hotel is very clean, the clientele is questionable. Two nights I was woken up in the middle of the night by people fighting in the hallway complete with every curse word that you can think of. The hotel should have security checking throughout the hotel to resolve these kinds of issues. I probably would not stay here again because of the clientele.
- 5/5
No complaints whatsoever. Front desk very helpful.
- 3/5
Hotel was very dated and gloomy. There was nothing terrible about it but just nothing good either. Wouldn’t stay again.
- 2/5
We stayed here hoping to get a decent nights sleep before my daughters surgery. I chose the hotel because of location, high rating and queen size beds. I really don’t think those were queen size beds at all. They were small and uncomfortable. My daughter and i fought for space all night. It was hot in the room unless you were on the far side of the room where you could feel air blowing. It was quiet which was great. We’ve stayed at both holiday inns and traffic noise at both is awful. I ended up getting 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night.
- 4/5
Really nice place to stay. Easy access in/out of the building.
- 3/5
When we checked in we're told that breakfast was served in the following morning. We took that to mean breakfast was included with our reservation through Expedia. In the morning found out there was a cost for breakfast.
- 4/5
Wasn’t bad. The location isn’t that great but it’s near downtown
- 3/5
My room was not very clean. Dust by refrigerator, tub was grungy, no lid on the toilet. The door to hallway had a big space on the bottom so was noisy when other customers were coming and going. Also had neighbors who were pot smokers one night so had to put pillows against the door to tolerate it. A notice was left under the door that carpet shampooing was happening in the next few days, so perhaps other cleaning will get done too.
- 4/5
Great location to the university. Staff was very accommodating.
- 4/5
The hotel had great parking. The hotel and rooms were very clean. The staff was very helpful when I needed to check-out early. The only issue I had was two maintenance problems that I let them know about when I left.
- 5/5
I think breakfast should be free
- 4/5
The room was clean, it was a very nice hotel. The only complaint that I have is that the walls are super thin, and you can literally hear everything beside you. We heard conversations as clear as day, we heard music is clear as day, we smelled scents that we’re coming from their room and we also heard the toilet flushing as well as the shower running. Other than that, the hotel was very nice.
- 4/5
My hotel room was very clean and smelled cleaned. I was very impressed. The property is a little old school, such as the elevators were smaller and older and the room key locks were the slide card scanning. However this did not detract from my stay it was just something you noticed. I really have no complaints at all.
- 5/5
Per booking the breakfast was free, however per hotel staff it was a charge per person.

The whole places smells like a fancy department store - Macy's maybe? I liked it but if you are sensitive to perfumes I could see it being overwhelming. It was priced right for our quick overnight while on a road trip. I've stayed in worse for a higher price.

We had an overall great stay at the Hawthorne Inn! The beds were very comfortable, the facilities were clean, and the room temperature was perfect throughout our visit. One thing I really loved was the nostalgic decor throughout the hotel—it gave the whole place such a warm, charming feel, and I absolutely loved that sense of nostalgia. The only downside was that the bathtub water stopper did not work properly, and I had mistakenly thought breakfast was included. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable stay, and I would definitely recommend it!

Front desk was extremely rude charged me an extra 50 dollars to check in but would not let me into the lobby. I was made to stand outside in the cold. The food was old and not tasty.

The room was spectacular. Clean, decorated nicely. Comfortable bed and pillows, spacious. No complaints.
- 4/5
Staff was very nice and hotel was clean for the most part! Kitchen could have been cleaner!

Looks like people live here. Cops outside at a party where it was LOUD. CRUMBS on the floor of our room. Shower faucet about out of the wall. Definitely would NOT stay again.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect

It was easy to get to downtown and the highway. Lots of parking available and a coffee shop and bakery within walking distance.

My favorite for decades. Changes not for better in some areas.

My stay was excellent until my last day. I don't get off work until after 3am so I asked for a late checkout. Checkout is at 11a, the very nice lady at the front desk said 12 noon would be fine. The first knock from house keeping was at 11:20a. I realize repetition and habit of a normal workday so I understand the mistake. The next knock was around 11:50a while I was in the shower. He continued to steadily knock on the door for several minutes until i was able to answer. He told me that checkout was at 11a and I needed to vacate the room. I told him I requested a late checkout the previous day, I'm all packed and I'll be out in about 10min, so he and whoever was at the front desk, needed to have better communication. He again told me I was supposed to be out by 11a. I again responded that I was told 12 noon is the late checkout time. He then responded with "CHECKOUT IS 11A, I'M CALLING THE COPS!" and immediately walked away. The whole encounter with this person was beyond ridiculous and extremely unprofessional. Besides that, it was a nice experience. But because of that, I've decided to not return as planned , and let people know. A person who thinks calling the police in that situation is what our tax dollars need to be spent on, needs a dose of reality. To that individual, practice respect and courtesy. (SMF)

Very old school. Super nice employees. Everything was very clean, although there is a weird issue with a random dog next door. Staff was great in taking care of the issue immediately.
- 5/5
Had a procedure scheduled at Baptist the morning of 11-25-2025, so didn’t get to try the breakfast. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. The lobby, 4th floor elevator, hallway very clean and well maintained.

I enjoy staying at the Hawthorne, mainly because of the location. The rooms are nice and the staff is so friendly and helpful. There were a couple of issues with the room this time—the phone didn’t work and the soap dispenser in the shower was either broken or empty, but I bring my own stuff anyway.
- 4/5
Staff was helpful and room was very clean
- 5/5
Very clean, well-priced. Friendly front desk staff.
- 5/5
The staff were professional and very accommodating. Thank you Hawthorne Inn - We would stay again hopefully soon .
- 3/5
The toilet was clogged multiple times and the water gushes a lot and splashes everywhere; there should be a seat cover. Overall, not a bad stay. Unfortunately, in my opinion I didn’t like the area; it’s far from Raleigh and Charlotte.
- 5/5
Very clean room, courteous, helpful staff, good breakfast buffet (not included in room price). Easy access to arra around Winstin-Salem.
- 5/5
It was spotless and I felt like I was at home
- 5/5
All great! 👍
- 3/5
Great location Needs some updating
- 3/5
The room was clean. Staff was always friendly and the parking is convenient and safe. My only problem was there was a child in the room above me stomping on the floor continuously it was reported to the front desk, but basically nothing happened. The second night they were there I had to take something to help me sleep
- 5/5

Staff and location
- 1/5
There was no elevators. My 84 year old grandmother had to walk up and down stairs. There was a $25 hold put on my card that the hotel did not tell me about. I put this one on my list of "never stay again". The heat didn’t work properly in the room. When the room next door would flush their toilets it would cause the one in my room to make loud gurgle noises. Super disappointed in this stay
- 4/5
Good room for a one night stay. Easy check in, drinks and snacks available for purchase in lobby. Plenty of parking.
- 5/5
Room was clean with needed amenities.
- 2/5
Some of my items were taken by housekeeping and they went in my personal suitcase. I will NEVER stay there again
- 5/5
The staff was amazing and room was spotless. There was no musty smell. It is in downtown area its a large building but everything was perfect. Pleasant surprise.
- 4/5
The room was great it was comfortable with plenty of room. The area under the fridge was quite dirty, but the rest of the room was very clean. I wish you could use the balconies.
- 5/5
Nice clean room, easy parking, friendly staff. Good hotel
- 3/5
The parking was good. The rooms were clean. The microwave was a little out dated. Some of the outlets didn't work. You have to pay for breakfast, kinda disappointing. The staff were all very nice ! It wasn't a bad stay just not quite up to what I was hoping for.
- 4/5
Parking was easy and secure.
- 3/5
The staff was slow in responding with checkin and also the systems were very slow. They seemed uninterested in helping me check in fast as we had an appointment coming up
- 4/5
Check in was great, room was clean and quiet. Hard time with using key card to enter from outside of building. Advertised continental breakfast. ( something I look for on a stay) There was a charge for the breakfast.
- 4/5

For the money we paid, it was not a quality hotel. The bathtub had a partially glued down rubber mat, which had black gunk underneath in an unglued section. No way could I take a bath. Couldn’t charge anything to the room because they’ve had too many people who have cheated them. How to use my credit card for incidentals, which is for people who damage their rooms. That pretty much told me that ethical people are not using this hotel.
- 4/5

Staff seemed to not know what was going on. Had to switch rooms and they switched me to a completely different room than what I booked. Took about an hour for each switch and fix. Room was hot. Shower head leaked. Pool looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for months.

You can't bring your luggage into the front door, but must drive around to the back parking lot after checking in. There is no place near the back entrance to park temporarily while unloading. Instead, you must find a parking spot some distance from the entrance to unload. If you need a luggage cart, you have to walk back to the entrance and up a flight of stairs or up and around a very long ramp to enter the back lobby for a cart, then bring it to your car the same way, then haul in your luggage up the long ramp. The desk clerk at check in was extremely nice and very polite. She gave us a choice of 2nd to 3rd floor and kindly pointed out that 2nd floor was pet-friendly, in case that might factor into our choice. So we chose the 3rd floor. However, after we checked in, we heard a dog bark several times in the room across the hall. Maybe she just got the floors mixed up? Also, on Friday night, we were awakened at 12:30 am and again at 3 with people talking very loudly in the hall. Not just a few words passing by, but having a long conversation just outside our room. We were also on the back side of the hotel, and there was loud music in an establishment across the street on Brookstown Ave. after 10 pm. Couldn't sleep. The breakfast for $8 would not be acceptable even if it were complementary. Bad scrambled eggs, weird sausage "product" and very bad hash browns.
- 5/5
Terrific value. Great location. One of my most enjoyable stays this year.
- 4/5
Nice place but a lot of people hanging around
- 4/5
I’ve stayed here a number of times. The cleanliness was fine, the staff was fine. One thing I did note in my room 406 that the bed I slept in did have a bit of a dip in it in the mattress. What I noticed this time, and I’ve noticed before, is that literally half the time I went out the back door to the back parking lot, that there were frequently two or three people hanging around out there smoking and some of them by appearance didn’t really look like they belong there so that bothered me a bit. It’s a decent hotel and his price very competitively with the uptown hotels that are just a few blocks away. . I don’t know I get their breakfast plans in the morning. You have to pay extra for the breakfast and you have to purchase a ticket at the checkout counter and then walk it over 50 feet to the girl who checks you in into the dining room. While they don’t just leave that girl Standing there to collect money rather than having to go through the extra step of buying a ticket, I don’t know. In my case, the first day, there was nobody at the front desk. The guy had stepped away for a little bit, and even the girl from the dining room came in to look for them in the back and couldn’t find them. It just seems like an extra step. Why don’t they just let the dining room employees sell the ticket? Their breakfast is good however. It’s eggs every morning and they have a variety of sausage links or sausage patties, usually some hashbrowns and maybe egg casserole. They also fruit and waff

It is a nice quiet place to stay
- 4/5
All good

Staff was extremly nice, and there is plenty on onsite parking. Very convenient to both diwntown and the highway. Will stay there again.

I had a salad when I first arrived to my room. Through it in the fridge so I could eat it the next day, went to get it the next day and realized my fridge wasn’t plugged up, so my salad was spoiled. There was a lot of grime and stains in the shower and the shower head wasn’t clean either. It’s very dark in the room so at night time you can barely see anything even with all the lights on. My room key deactivated at least 7 times and I had to keep going to the front desk to have it reset. Overall, not the best stay at a hotel that I’ve had. I probably won’t be returning.
- 4/5
The hotel nice nothing fancy but we got a great rate.
- 5/5
As always, friendly and professional staff with clean, comfortable rooms. We've never had a bad stay here. Love the Hawthorne!

This hotel was perfect for people who want a central location to Winston-Salem right next to downtown. Easy parking and nice rooms! I would stay here again.
- 3/5
Downtown Winston-Salem is very cute and has a lot of great food options around. This hotel was purchased with a budget in mind and we got what we paid for. Everything seemed to be cleanly enough but the facility itself is very dated and has a smell to it. The building inside almost felt like it had a “film”. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We didn’t make it down to breakfast so I can’t speak on the food quality. Overall just an okay experience! Not bad not great.
- 5/5
This hotel is terrific! I am so glad I stayed there. People were great! Room was great! View of trees from my big glass windows was great! I will recommend Hawthorne Inn and Conference Center and stay there again myself.

Center of downtown
- 4/5
The Hawthorne Inn is an older modern- styled hotel, built in 1982, on the edge of downtown Winston-Salem, NC.The location is excellent for strolling through the downtown business district. Several good restaurants nearby, as well as coffee shops, clubs, and landmarks. Old Salem, the historical settlement of the Moravian religious sect that began the town is within a 2-3 block walking distance. As for the hotel itself, it was clean, comfortable, and accessible for those who have such needs. The staff was extremely cordial. I liked the accommodations quite a bit, with two exceptions; when I first walked into the hotel there was a pungent odor of a chemical nature that actually gave me a headache. It was so potent that I acquired sinusitis several days later that I believe was environmentally induced. Smelt like a cleaning solvent or paint. I've been back from my trip for 3 days and using my prescription nasal sprays. Just beginning to feel better. Lastly, I specifically booked a room on a "no smoking" floor. I smelt smoke as soon as I got off the elevator and approached my room which was the first room on the hall. I called the front desk to tell them. The clerk apologized and said he would spray my room. I explained that the odor was not in my room, but coming from a room into the hall. The clerk thanked me but I didn't sense he'd do anything about it. Yet, I didn't smell smoke the next day. Liked the hotel, but not sure I'd return; a little afraid odors might return!
- 5/5
The room was nice. The price was great. I was able to walk to the downtown area straight from the hotel.
- 5/5
Clean room and pleasant staff.
- 5/5
Everything was very clean. Really nice and knowledgeable staff. I would stay there again.
- 3/5
Everything was ok. The only thing checking in was difficult we had 2 rooms and requested the same floor and a 2hour early check in. The first guy said it would not be problem to be on the same but I guess it was shift change the other guy was not able to accommodate my request for same floor and also had to wait for my additional room.
- 4/5
Breakfast was lacking and $10.

- 5/5
Nice room, good price. Difficult to figure out checking in one building and rooms in a different building, but it worked out fine for us.
- 4/5
Great prices and good clean rooms and great location
- 4/5
Good value mid range hotel.
- 5/5
Best nights sleep at a hotel in the past 3 months. It was so quiet, and near some amazing dining options we could walk to.
- 4/5
The hotel is close to the convention center and my activities.
- 5/5
I always enjoy my stay
- 4/5

- 4/5
Convenience to the convention center.
- 4/5
Good hotel for the price.
- 4/5
Second time I stayed at this hotel. Its a older hotel with lots of charm.Staff was friendly rooms bigger then most hotels.I would stay again if the price point continued to stay affordable.
- 4/5
The staff was really nice upon greeting me when I arrived and departed. The room itself was for a good price and it was conveniently located to the highway, parking was easy, and you could easily walk to places around the hotel.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay
- 4/5
Our biggest issue was the room keys. We were constantly having to have new ones issued because the became inactive
- 5/5
Excellent in all ways.
- 3/5
No fan in bathroom ceiling looks to have mold, there was a roach in bathroom no body wash in dispenser
- 3/5
Solid choice but beware if there is a large group of event. Just a week earlier I stayed and it was absolutely delightful. This time I booked a 400+ sq room and got a 225 sq ft room on the 1st floor, directly overlooking the parking lot and next to the laundry room. There weren’t even sheers on the windows to let light in without everyone seeing what I was doing. Think of a booking here like a bit of a gamble.
- 4/5
The hotel is very convenient to just about everything. Bring back free breakfasts.

Very nice clean property with great rooms. Best value in town
- 4/5
I found it convenient to the wake Forest baptist hospital
- 4/5
I needed to stay in a motel while my husband was in a nearby hospital. The room was clean and comfortable. I didn't spend time there but to sleep. It was easy to get to from the hospital but not as easy to get back to the hospital. I would stay there again and recommend it to others.
- 5/5
Surprisingly nice hotel. Room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped. Very central to everything. Will stay again.
- 3/5
I have never been to a hotel that had no one at the front desk. I waited several minutes before two people came from another part of the hotel. There was no signage to tell you to wait or give an explanation. There was no music or any indication there was anyone about. I was told they have to do periodic ‘rounds’. Ok. But. I was processed and given my key card. I did not feel welcome and I had to ask about the breakfast. The hallway was long and narrow. No one around. Creepy. I have traveled to Europe and never had this experience. I won’t go back.
- 5/5
Very nice and affordable. The only issue I had was the power kept going in and out
- 4/5
Bed was not very comfortable, when you got into the bed it you automatically rolled into the middle. Found that to be odd. Mattresses aren't really comfortable either. Besides that the stay was good.
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
Close to Carolina University
- 4/5
Great location for conference that is reasonably priced! Easy and quick to get to downtown convention centers and plenty of food options nearby. Due to my schedule, I wasn't able to enjoy many of the services offered including the breakfast. But it was an easy week with helpful staff who were there to fill requests quickly and we're extremely kind.
- 5/5
Loved my stay
- 1/5
Horrible staff and very rude
- 5/5
The staff is very kind. Would recommend
- 3/5
I liked there is a small area by the front desk where they sell water, mints, etc. Bed was ok. The place had a bad odor and didn't appear to be completely clean in the lobby. Needs updating.
- 5/5
It was clean, comfortable, quiet in a great location. A little dated but great price- would totally stay again!
- 4/5
Hotel was just what we needed for our stay. We were in the area to visit our 89 yr. old Aunt and Uncle. The room was spacious and clean. Would recommend as a good place to stay
- 3/5
The room smelled like smoke and there was what looked like a blood stain on the edge of the bathroom door. I could not change rooms. The Staff was lovely but because of the above, I will not stay there again.
- 4/5
It’s very close to a lot of nice places and freeways.
- 4/5
Easy to get to conference center. Clean rooms. Great value.
- 4/5
Location of this hotel is close to old Salem (walkable). The check in was easy but we had to drive around the hotel to bring our luggage in. The rate was good.
- 5/5
Great stay. No complaints
- 5/5
Check in was smooth, staff was very professional and informative. The hotel and room was very clean.
- 5/5
Nice and clean property
- 4/5
Didn’t get to use the pool but it too looked nice. Rooms were comfy and clean as was the property. We were unfortunately given a room that was still occupied but the front desk quickly changed that, no issue except giving an occupied room (thankfully the do not disturb card AND lock were on the door). One complaint was the hallways are loud. Not a hotel problem itself though the doors could be more sound dampening but sick of hearing people’s kids running up and down the hallway to play with the ice machine or just racing each other while mom and dad sat in their room. Nope. I’ll put an end to you not parenting your kid FAST! It’s a hotel not your home. Additionally, there are some unsavory people in the area (as with any town/city) but none bothered us and we didn’t feel unsafe. A few eateries in walking distance was very nice, too.
- 4/5
The bed was very comfortable. And the room was clean, it also had a nice desk and chair for work.
- 4/5
Nice room we only stayed for a night, did smell like cigarette smoke but not bad, honestly an underrated gem. Had a pool too which was nice and super friendly staff!
- 5/5
The bed is very comfortable and the room is very quiet.
- 4/5
Close to hospital where i had business. Pool is great.
- 4/5
Could use more towels and pillows. I understand what others are saying about the stairs. They are very narrow
- 5/5
The property was priced right, and great location. The staff was friendly also.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean room and comfortable bed.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay at Hawthorne and will definitely stay again if we're in the area. Very nice and worth the price.
- 5/5
Everything and Everyone really nice and clean!
- 3/5
The hotel was fine my only complaint is that it's not handicapped accessible.. way too many stairs and the one ramp they have is way too long for someone on a walker. So although the place is really nice if you're on a walker or a wheelchair just be prepared you won't be able to go to the pool and there's only one entrance that you'll be able to use.
- 3/5
The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. I was disappointed that the hotel charged for breakfast especially since the marketing material at the hospital says it is " complimentary".
- 1/5
Huge disappointment: room was dirty, only stayed 3 hours and decided to leave with no refund
- 5/5
Really enjoyed our stay! We felt safe and comfortable the entire time. The staff was exceptional.
- 5/5
Very convenient clean great staff priced right.
- 5/5
I would recommend this property for safe say
- 4/5
A nice place to stay. Lovely pool.
- 3/5
The location is ideal if you want to be close to downtown but don’t want to pay the downtown prices. The staff were friendly. The property is a little dated but for a quick visit to WSNC, it’s okay.
- 5/5
Will Be Back
- 4/5
The room was bleh. Really outdated and humid. Honestly the pool was the only great part of this stay. And the breakfast was extremely expensive. We just wanted coffee and it would have cost us $14.99 per person. But they didn't know how much kids were and we weren’t going to chance it.
- 5/5
Nice stay. Comfortable. Good value for the money.
- 4/5
The stay was great. The staff was attentive
- 1/5
First of all, I have to say that I will never stay at this hotel again it was an absolute nightmare. It was pretty clean, but if you needed something, there was no staff at the hotel that could bring it for you so a handicap person cannot get any assistance we asked for extra towels. We went in the next evening and our room had not even been cleaned not to mention no towels, the elevators are not made for people with disability, wheelchairs, and scooters. I barely fit into the elevator. There was a lift that took you from the main floor to the lower floor, but I wasn’t allowed to use it because it wasn’t designed for my scooter at least that was what I was told. I had a problem with there was no outlets in the room that worked except for one so I couldn’t use the hairdryer. I called to ask them to come and fix the hairdryer and they asked me if I could go upstairs to a room that was empty and use that hairdryer. I am disabled and in a wheelchair that is not something that’s easy for me to do. I’ll let them know that they said that they couldn’t help it, but there was no one there to take me a new hairdryerthe keys that were used to get into the rooms the electronic keys they never worked. You could not unload your luggage in the front of the hotel. You have to go to the back door and unload your luggage and get out and go into the hotel half the time the keys would not work one night when we were there. There must’ve been 15 people outside with keys no none of us could get in
- 4/5
The property did not have enough staff to handle the check -in in a timely manner. At all times, there was only one person on the front desk to check-in and to answer calls. There was a large group conference and a large wedding going on at the same time. It was too much for the front desk to handle efficiently.

- 5/5
Quiet with easy access to restaurants
- 5/5
This is a great older hotel. The building is older and has an old charm; the reception and restaurant are in one part/building and the rest in an attached high rise next to it. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The pool patio is nice. The breakfast is not included so we didn't partake, but the coffee is complimentary and the restaurant area looked nice. There are a few eateries/bakery/coffee shop and Mexican restaurant across the street. Oh, and the Truist Stadium is an easy walk away.
