I have stayed and/or dined in Ritz-Carlton properties in the US, Northern Africa, and Europe and have always had an exemplary experience. The Washington D.C. Ritz was horrible. The lobby is nice but the rooms are dingy and dated. I requested an accessible room as I was traveling with my grandmother who was in her 80s and their take on accessibility is interesting. There was no place for us to hang our coats or dresses where they didn't touch the dingy carpet--the bar in the closet was positioned way lower than even someone in a wheelchair would need; there was no mirror in the room for her to do her hair and makeup and obviously she can't stand in the bathroom to do it, and the mirror/sink was too high for her to sit in a chair in the bathroom. We ordered room service and paid way too much for a subpar steak that was cooked completely incorrectly temperature-wise. I kept receiving emails about making it right but nothing was made right. I regret spending so much money thinking it would be special. This may as well have been a Residence Inn that they slapped the Ritz brand on. There was nothing special about this experience except for the valet who went above and beyond.

When we mentioned it, to the reception and the manager they said it was outsourced to another caterer and they did not take responsibility or address this issue. But on the Ritz Carlton website, they mislead you as if its a Ritz Carlton restaurant. Also the room cleaning is below par for a 5 star Ritz Carlton.

I loved my recent stay at Ritz-Carlton at Washington DC . The staff, from front desk to room service, friendly, polite and nice !! Special thanks to Zelli that helped me a lot understanding how metro works ! My only issue is the gym (equinox) I was never told I would be charged only for visiting the installation. I think it should be informed that the gym even a visit is not free ! .

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted and treated as if we had arrived at home, if our home was a haven of indulgence and pampering. Can’t say enough good things about the Club Level perks-HOW do they remember our names? Staying at the Ritz for our first trip to DC made the experience AMAZING. Learned a lot of insider curated tips to navigate the district from concierge :)

My host Kenneth, and Zele were very welcoming, pleasant and courteous. Whenever an issue arose, they apologized and offered solutions which I encountered my first night. I went out with my friends to do some pre-birthday celebration and came back with leftovers worth 200.00. When I came back to my room the fridge that was in there was the honor bar already stocked with wine beverages which if I removed would be charged to me. I needed the space for my food and even if I temporarily removed the items, my stuff still wouldn’t fit. I was too drunk to go back downstairs so it was just wasted food. I brought this to Zele, and Kenneth attention and they apologized and advised I can bring any leftovers to the front desk for them to

The room I reserved for my Mom wasn't ready when we checked in. She had to wait over 20 minutes and when her room was finally ready the heat in her room broke down. She had to spend the night in a different room. Eventually, My Mom was placed in a nice room with working heat. Once Mom was settled we had a wonderful and relaxing New Year's weekend.

The hotel was clean and I loved the 5:30pm cookies that was available for the guest in the lobby. They were delicious. The restaurant food was decent, I paid $11.00 for 2 chocolate chip cookies that weren’tthat great and hard. Otherwise, it was okay. My only negative would be that they charge $75 to use the microwave. I went to dinner in town and brought back food and sis not feel like paying more than the cost of my dinner just to heat it up. I think they should have an available microwave for guest to use especially with how much you pay per night for the rooms. Other than that I’d stay there again as it is close to everything and only 16 minutes from Ronald Reagan International airport:)

However, my room wasn't ready at normal check-in time. I have stayed in many hotels and this was the first time the room wasn't ready upon arrival. My wife and I had to wait almost an hour for the room to be ready. Although Nick was super polite and offered us $60 breakfast credit, it still left a very unpleasant experience with us. The other thing is, I called the hotel a day before arrival to confirm EV charging, I was told that there were two charging stations in the hotel. After I arrived, valet parking said no charging station for hotel guests (charging station only for residence, but I clearly said I would stay in the hotel to Front Desk). As a result, I had to drive 2km to George Town for fast charging. Not sure why the front desk and valet are not on the same page with this. In terms of the gym, not sure why hotel customers have to pay $15/per person per day, first time this happened to me after many hotel stays. Taking my stay at St Regis Manhattan for example, the EV charging is available even not within their own garage, hotel room is ready even we arrived 2 hour earlier. Overall, the hotel itself is very nice, but there are just too many details that need to be improved for a reputable brand.

Everything was great, BUT I was appalled when my bill showed a charge for internet service. I was able to get the charge removed because I am a Bonvoy member, however it left a pall on my experience. I have never been charged for internet service in hotels both more and less luxurious than The Ritz. It was a disappointing ending to what had been a pleasant stay.

Obviously there was no barista training. I ordered a double espresso macchiato. Should have 2 ounces of espresso and a teaspoon of milk mousse and served in an espresso cup. Well I got a huge cup of 10 ounces of liquid….looked like a soup bowl … Other than that… excellent stay

Breakfast was wonderful, large delicious selection, and great service too! Great room with great amenities, including being able to loging to your own Netflix account. Only bummer was the restaurant not being open and then in room dining menu not being too enticing. We ended up getting Uber Eats one evening.

The only thing I didn't like was the breakfast. To me for a 5 star Hotel the breakfast was just blah. My Hot Coco was room temp, I could have made a better omelet, and to be honest I could have gotten a better meal at IHOP. I do not feel the breakfast was worth the price.

Valet was extremely courteous and attentive (kids kept going back to get something from the car). They always came back with water bottles. Very nice. The parking costs ~ $50 p/night. You can come and go as you please. Exxon is right across the street for snacks or gas. Nice lobby, tv for sports. Not happy about WiFi being extra. It charges you per device, but if you tell the front desk at checkout they’ll only charge you for one. If you have an Xbox, connect it first. No complimentary breakfast No laundry machines for personal use (only full-service laundry) Location is very close to Georgetown, national mall, federal square, k street, white house, etc., but not within comfortable walking distance. perfect distance if you rent an electric scooter. It can go 10mph, up to 15mph downhill (costs $1 for the first minute and $.39 p/min after that. I highly recommend downloading the ‘Byrd’ app for electric scooter rentals. Use it to go all around DC and park it right in front of the hotel when you are done (it’s allowed). The app tells you how much charge the scooter has when you scan it. As long as the battery has a 10 mile charge you should be fine sightseeing.

All in all, that minor issue did not spoil the stay one bit.

I neglected to place my breakfast order the night before, but when I called it in the following morning, room service promptly delivered. I was so grateful. This was my first stay at this location and it was absolutely delightful in every respect. I would definitely stay here again.

It was a staycation for our anniversary. Although I never connected with staff prior, the message that this was our anniversary definitely found its way to the staff, who greeted us kindly at the check in and provided chocolate strawberries and a nice note in our room. A+
