Reviews
The hotel staff is consistently praised for their exceptional service and friendliness. However, the rooms and facilities are often described as outdated and in need of refreshment.
- Exceptional service from friendly and attentive staff
- Great location in Georgetown
- Outdated rooms and facilities
- Inconsistencies and lack of clarity regarding breakfast inclusion and pricing

The property is very dated, old and not to the standards of what we expected of a Ritz Carlton in a city like Washington DC.

My expectation for a property when you are paying 1k a nite is extremely high. It does not compare to a Four Seasons or other like properties.

We have stayed at this Ritz before (handful of years ago) and I remember liking it so we stayed again. The lobby/lounge area is beautiful but our room was in the far tower by the spa elevator (room # started with ‘E’) and it was beyond dated. I felt like we were in a Hampton in with a nicer bed. So basic and very dated. Not luxurious at all. I hate to even say this because the staff was nice but it was just a somewhat depressing experiencing. We won’t be staying there again. Over priced for what it was and just a let down.

Very helpful and accommodating staff, from guiding us to our room to dealing with our clunky U-Haul without batting an eye to giving us late checkout without a hitch and then extending our stay an extra day because we didn’t want to leave the crackling lobby fire and cozy vibe.

Also called hotel around 5pm specifically to let them know we're checking in late around 10:30, to make certain the room is set up for 3 guests (2 adults 1 child) and to ensure we have a roll away bed, enough towels and water... towel and water were added, but no extra bed!!! had to deal with this late at night!

The Ritz in Georgetown is inviting and sophisticated. Beds are comfortable; staff is wonderful from the doormen to front desk to housekeeping. Relaxing areas throughout the hotel for socializing. I like the location just a short walk to the waterfront, M St and Georgetown.

I recently stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown in Washington, D.C., and it was an exceptional experience. The staff provided outstanding service, ensuring every detail was perfect. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and offered stunning views. The hotel's amenities, including the fitness center and on-site dining, were top-notch. The location was ideal, close to major attractions. Overall, it was a memorable stay, and I highly recommend The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown for anyone visiting D.C.

Overall it was a good hotel, the staff were courteous and there for you to help. The room was spacious. I only had one issue on lack of calrity about breakfast situation. I got the breakfast included option and when I got there they said it covers up to $60. When I got the bill later they charged me full amount, so I called and they said it only covers up to $30 and they would fix it. Lack of consistency and clarity is the reason I give them 4 stars and not 5

Great location and very helpful staff. A welcome contrast to a recent stay at the Ritz Carlton South Beach, which almost put me off Ritz Carltons altogether. Luckily I gave it another try for this property which had previously been a winner. It was again.

We enjoyed the breakfast. It was included in our room rate, but we needed to understand how much we could spend as the menu is on the expensive side and we wanted to know what was covered. Your booking confirmation does not say and the receptionist said it had a limit, so best to check to avoid dissapointment. Sofa bed - not very strong, but then again, no expectations set.

Food (breakfast, dinner) was very good, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Was difficult getting to property due to construction on street and general traffic in Georgetown.

For a Ritz property (I have stayed at others), this was an underwhelming stay. The room did not have pillows and towels when we first checked in, it was rectified. The decor and feeling was average. The gym was very small and limited. We tried to get a cup of coffee at 10pm, and they said the coffee was brewed at 2pm and that was all we could get. The doorman did not open the door once for us, he was on his phone. Some things mentioned are small and trivial, but for a Ritz property, I expect better service and facilities. The location was great and central though in Georgetown. I am not sure if I would stay at this property again.

We booked a king suite for a 36th anniversary get-away but were given a complimentary upgrade to a premier corner suite (thank you!) which was enormous and very nice. Not really a criticism but the sitting room was so big it seemed slightly under-furnished. The location near the waterfront park and M Street is excellent; lots of places within walking distance. Coffee in the lobby was excellent and service was excellent. The doormen, parking valets, housekeeping and front desk staff were all friendly and helpful. Valet parking was free through Hotels.com but showed up on the bill; they removed it immediately when I brought it to their attention. The restaurant looked lovely but we didn't try it because it seemed expensive and there are so many interesting dining options in the area. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful facility (despite a disappointing fitness center). However, we waited 30 min for our room despite checking in 90 min after check-in time. Three other parties were shown to their rooms as we waited. Staff was relatively indifferent. Not the typical Ritz-Carlton level of service recovery. Also, my in-room dining order (from a fairly limited menu) was incorrect (but kindly corrected upon my request). For the cost, two relatively surprising oversights with very little effort at service recovery by staff. Disappointing.

Amazing service. Everyone was really nice and welcoming. Room/suite was super comfortable. Great location for walking Georgetown. Seems like a $500/night room would come with free wifi but meh, have enough data on my cell. I did have to show the checkout folks my hotels.com deal that free breakfast and valet parking was included for them to remove it from my bill. Not a big deal but wish I didn't have to double check.

It took us an hour to be checked-in. Originally we were told 30-49 miniutes and they would call is. They never called us so when we showed up at the appropriate time the hotel concierge was like “Oh I should have called you. Your room isn’t ready yet.” Then the other hotel concierge is as like “can I offer bottled water?” The bottle water is free. They weren’t that apologetic that our room was an hour late. There wa no type of “joe can we make this right attitude. Just “oh well, sorry” attitude. I was surprised at this treatment because it is supposed to be such a high end hotel. If you can afford it go to the Four Seasons. They are nicer. Or go to one of the many boutique hotels in the area.

This was a surprise visit for my first anniversary with my wife. As soon as I arrived I was genuinely welcomed by the valet. I told them I was making my way to check in so I can stage my room for my wife, as they guided me in to a very awesome front desk attendant, Mr. Martin. He literally went out of his way to help me with preparing my visit to turn into an awesome surprise for my wife. Martin, thank you kindly for everything. Truly a memorable experience.

I'm a big fan of Ritz-Carlton and rarely give one of their hotels less than 5 stars, but this one disappointed in a few respects. On check-in, we had booked a room with two beds but were told none were available and given a room with only one bed and a not very comfortable rollaway. Upon inquiry, the RC staff blamed Expedia, Expedia blamed RC, and we got the shaft. The room was attractive and well appointed. But the room had an odd smell of cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg, plus there was an odd odor of oatmeal in the hallway. The hot water took a LONG time to come on (even with the tap set full to hot) and never really got all that hot. The waitstaff in the restaurant and lounge were first rate. The doorman (George) was a treasure.

We checked in on. Sunday around 4pm. I asked for an upgrade but was told the hotel was sold out and nothing was available. This was clearly not the case, the hotel was not busy. I think they wouldn’t upgrade me because I booked through Expedia.

We loved our stay at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown. From the gracious reception at check in to the housekeeping staff who brought us extra water when my daughter wasn't feeling well to the lovely dinner and lunch to the lobby with its "candy bar" and other snacks, we would definitely stay here again.

The property itself was regular. The room did not match the price. our carpets were soiled and dirty. we did not even want to walk around in our socks. They too $100 of the price, but if you can't have a clean hotel room and this price point it's pointless. I rather stay home

The fact that the building was an incinerator in its previous life made going into the rooms little intricate.

And the location can’t be beat - right in Georgetown, steps away from restaurants, shopping, and great views of the river. If going to the area, treat yourself - you’ll be glad you did! (And get the s’mores French toast for breakfast in the hotel - it’s decadently delicious!)

Amazing hotel. The location was great. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Didn’t use the spa services this time, but have many times in the past and they are wonderful, too.

We had a great stay in this lovely small boutique hotel. The staff was very accommodating and couldn't have been nicer especially the restaurant staff -John (bartender)& Maria (breakfast waitress) as well as the concierge men and doormen that greeted us coming and going. All appurtenances were great - the staff kept our room well stocked with water and toiletries, clean linen everyday. We would stay there again in a heartbeat...our only glitch was that our room phone wasn't working and even though they tried to repair still never worked during our stay....

My niece and I stayed at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown recently on a sight seeing trip to DC. Unfortunately I became ill during my stay. The staff made our stay very comfortable and although I was sequestered to my room, I felt comfortable and well cared for.

I booked at the hotel a month in advance of my stay via Expedia. I booked the Ritz in Georgetown specifically because my boyfriend was coming home from several months overseas and we had not seen each other since November. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that there was no room available, despite my booking and confirmation email. The front desk said that they tried to get in touch with me, but I received no calls, no voicemails, and no emails. This is unacceptable, and frankly I would expect more from a hotel with such an exalted reputation. Their solution was to move us us to another, lower caliber hotel across town and drive us over. While I appreciate that they covered the cost of the room, their poor management, and customer service ruined what was supposed to be a special night for us. The plans we had in and around the hotel had to be cancelled at the last minute. I can't express how disappointed we were.
