Reviews
The Lyle Hotel is a well-liked boutique hotel in a convenient and safe location in Washington D.C., with friendly and helpful staff. Guests appreciate the clean and comfortable rooms, but some have issues with the amenities and noise levels.
- Convenient and safe location
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Issues with amenities such as lack of microwave and poor water pressure
- Noise levels from both inside and outside the hotel

Felt very reassured that there was someone always at the front door and at the reception desk. Breakfast at the restaurant was very good and fresh!
- 5/5
We are very impressed with the room and quality of service and the amenities as well. Great location and totally enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend!
- 4/5
Good hotel and great location BUT I would definitely add more staff to valet as the poor guys are overwhelmed. Also, the whole weekend me and my son stayed there, the elevators were not working properly, with one of them being completely out and the other one being off and on working so I will say that is NOT acceptable. The girls at the front desk did not seem to care much. This hotel is overpriced for what it offers and it leaves room for improvement. Decor was nice but again, the maintenance and the service is not good. I do like that they seem very welcoming to gay couples as I am all for inclusion and love.

Nice place .. good location for getting around

Location was great, room was very clean and staff was helpful. Only downside - the bed was not very comfortable and they did not have a mattress topper.
- 4/5
The Lyle is a very quaint and well designed property. There’s really no lobby at all but the restaurant is cute and the food is decent. The staff was very kind and helpful and the room was beautiful (I had the corner king)
- 4/5
Helpful and friendly staff......all amenities in good working order!
- 4/5
There were issues with the elevators. Each time I got in it it stalled on that floor and didn't move anywhere and the door would have to open and close a few times.
- 5/5
One of the nicest hotels I have been to in a long time! The beds are like sleeping on clouds…and the rooms are so beautiful
- 5/5
My stay at Lyle Washington was amazing! The staff members were extremely helpful and accommodating! I will definitely book future stays when I travel to the DC area!
- 5/5
Great location on a beautiful street. The beds are the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on and the restaurant offers a good breakfast selection at very reasonable prices

I love staying at the Lyle, i'ts always clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing. Definitely would stay again. The bar closes really early and the bar staff was very rude. The cleaning staff touch our belongings, but the management was great about rectifying the situation.

Great location, amazing staff, comfy beds, great breakfast.
- 4/5
Comfortable, clean, stylish rooms. Lovely breakfast room. Friendly and helpful staff. TV easy to operate, didn't take me 20 minutes to turn on the news. Nice hot shower. A bigger desk in the room, better makeup lighting in the bathroom, a coffee station in lobby.

We had breakfast included in our room. The first day we missed breakfast as we got there at 10:30 am. So we sat there and asked for cappuccino only. We received to go cups with $11 bill!! We thought a hotel would have provided that in proper cups and perhaps at no charge.
- 5/5
Very nice accommodations in a great location.
- 4/5
Room was very clean but there are no drawers so better get used to living out of the suitcase. Bar and restaurant staff were great.
- 5/5
I always stay at the Lyle when I visit my daughter in Washington, DC. It is convenient to where she lives and the rooms, service and amenities have always been top rate.
- 2/5
The bathroom setup was pretty inconvenient — there was no counter space for makeup or a dop kit, which made getting ready awkward. The bathroom door also didn’t fully close or lock. The shower only had a half glass wall instead of a full door, so it was easy to get cold and water splashed outside the bathing area. On the positive side, the shampoo and soaps were good quality. Unfortunately, there was also what looked like a blood stain on the comforter, which was really gross and unacceptable. I’d stay somewhere else next time.

The Lyle is a very nice option for the DuPont Circle neighborhood. Consistently excellent staff, comfortable rooms, and an elegant building. The bar is great but gets noisy and crowded late evenings and weekend brunch times.

Have stayed at The Lyle twice - had the upgraded room first time, not the second. Would highly recommend upgrading - dramatically more space. Love the hotel - super clean, attentive staff, great location. Thought the restaurant was awesome - had three delicious meals there over our stay; drinks at the bar were also great. Would highly recommend!

When booking with Expedia, you have to be very careful as to the room that you book. I booked a deluxe queen room and in the picture and description it was a large room. When we arrived they told us that they could do an early check in andasked us if it was just the two of us which we agreed, and we were given an extremely small room actually, the smallest washroom I’ve ever seen out in a hotel. When our friends checked in and booked after us with our information and the same type of room, they receive the type of room that we had seen online and actually booked when I complained to the hotel saying this was unfair. They told me they didn’t have one available and therefore couldn’t move us. It was very disappointing that we paid the same price and we were in a room that was 1/3 the size. They also added the excuse that the rooms vary in this hotel under that room category. I don’t think that any customer should pay the same price for a room. That’s basically a birdcage compared to the other room. How do we not have this very poor experience, but could not be resolved to any satisfaction then I probably would’ve given this property a five star rating. The valet staff and housekeeping were amazing.
- 2/5
The hotel has seen better days and it is time to refurbish it!
- 5/5
I can’t say enough amazing things about the Lyle. The staff is the best in the business and the space is so artfully designed and comfortable! Their restaurant and bar is a vibe and has the best food and drinks. I love the care and attention every single person pays to providing a stellar guest experience. It’s the only place I will stay when I’m in DC and I look forward to my next visit!
- 4/5
Good hotel, quiet location. Breakfast is good, though takes a while, service is slow, could take up to 1 hour. Also, free breakfast is confusing, staff tried arguing with us whether we have free breakfast or not. They take your room #, but they no idea if your breakfast is free or not. Had to show them Expedia reservation several times. Also, additionally confusing is a separate venue for free breakfast. If you order from that venue, then breakfast is not free. Breakfast staff is surprised if you tell them that breakfast is free for you.

We absolutely loved the Lyle Hotel. Our room was very comfortable with so many well thought out details. The interior design was unique and beautiful. We also loved the neighborhood and location. This is definitely the place to stay in DC!

Not a 4 star hotel- unkempt, low quality- a three star at best.
- 5/5
What a gem! I selected the Lyle purely based on budget restrictions for work travel and was absolutely blown away by it. It is in a lovely area - a pleasant walk to the Dupont metro. The staff was very friendly, and I loved that I could request more water if I needed it. The room amenities were great - the Nepresso made a delicious coffee, and the bath products were lovely - I might have to order some for home! I had a corner room that was filled with light, roomy, and pleasant. The bar was really cute. Would definitely stay here again for work or pleasure!

The line was long for check in. They were short staffed and staff made a mistake with a room assignment to another customer which held things up even more. Our room entrance was shared with another guest. It felt awkward. The room had 1 small mirror in the bathroom. The street noise was loud. We have stayed at much better properties in DC. The Line and The Hilton had much better service ! We have stayed many times in NYC and had excellent service and experience there.. We would probably not stay at Lyle again.

Location, Staff, Cleanliness, Room very comfy. More menu options My room was right next to elevator and very thin walls , so the noise from hallway traffic could bothersome but it was fine for me.

Beautiful boutique hotel. Kind staff.
- 5/5
The room was well-designed and had all necessary amenities (and more). The staff was extremely pleasant and the overall complex is superb. -

Everything at the hotel was great and the rooms are big and comfortable, but I had a problem at check-in because the reservations department had decided to cancel my reservation even though I had notified them that I would arrive the following morning.

- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in a great location near DuPont circle. The bed was super comfortable and the room was well appointed. We will definitely stay here again. The parking is expensive though.
- 4/5
There was no microwave in the room and the mini fridge was full of beverages for purchase. It was inside a cabinet and the temperature of the fridge was on the warm side. There was no way to adjust the temperature. The fridge was essentially unusable. The room was stocked with items that there was a charge for using/consuming (condoms, M&Ms, Snickers bar, bourbon, champagne). The complimentary items were 2 bottles of water and a coffee maker with 2 coffee pods. The mattress and topper was soft. The bedding included a lofty comforter. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood with coffee shops in easy walking distance. We loved the location.
- 4/5
I didn't have breakfast at the hotel.

It was a busy weekend and the lobby was noisy but fun. It did not carry up to the rooms. Plenty of space and quiet with a beautiful view of the street and cherry blossom trees.

Interior decor was clean and modern. Front desk staff, restaurant and cleaning staff were all friendly and attentive. Restaurant was convenient and above average in quality. Deluxe King room was nicely decorated and equipped and was fairly comfortable overall. A unique upscale boutique hotel in a wonderful neighborhood with lots of restaurants and points of interest nearby. Great location. The bed was just okay, a little firm and the duvey comforter was a little heavy. Pillows were very soft down-like. The walk-in shower was nice but the water valve was quite difficult to adjust to get a comfortable water temperature. The lighting in the room was minimal, especially in the entry area by the door and closet where there was no overhead lighting at all.

We loved our stay at the Lyle. The staff were wonderful, so helpful and friendly, from the front desk to the bell staff to the waiters in the restaurant. The breakfasts were amazing. They would have been a little expensive, if they weren't included in our rate. The hotel is in a great location, easy to walk to many sites. Beds were comfortable, lots of room in the bathroom. I would have given it five stars, except for early morning maintenance noise Sunday morning. We were so disappointed as we needed the sleep. We were given a room on the main floor, with a window overlooking a courtyard (which was mainly a storage area). Around 7:30 am there was banging of buckets, loud talking and then some spray washing. Other than that, it was perfectly quiet so maybe this was a one off. I would avoid the first floor just in case, if you want to sleep past 7:30.
- 4/5
The staff were so polite & courteous, the rooms were clean. And the cocktails were exquisite The room we had was very small

This charming boutique hotel in the DuPont Circle neighborhood offers modern, classy rooms with tasteful amenities. The restaurant and bar have a vintage decor and a friendly atmosphere. The property is comfortable and cozy, with attention to detail. The staff offers that touch of elegance and attentiveness to guests.

The room was lovely. Would suggest adding a few hooks to the bathroom and a full length mirror in the room would also be a good addition.
- 4/5
Very nice and comfortable hotel. It wasn’t clear that I would be charged a $100 resort fee. It’s unclear what it is for since there aren’t any amenities that differ from your typical hotel.
- 5/5
The property was beautiful and clean. The room had everything we needed. We had a lovely view from our 8th story window. The staff was extremely kind and helpful.

- 5/5
Absolutely lovely boutique hotel nestled into the north end of Dupont Circle. I love that the architechture and feel of the hotel matched the neighborhood. Easily accessible to the metro and many of my favorite shopping areas, this is always my go-to hotel when staying in the District.
- 3/5
I enjoyed breakfast at their restaurant. My bed was nice and comfortable. Thete was no microwave or refrigerator in the room which was odd considering we booked a king sized room. We asked for a microwave, the staff was kind and brought it in the room for us.
- 5/5
Our room was spacious and quiet. In the kitchen there was a fridge that was stocked with drinks. A separate fridge and a microwave would be great.
- 2/5
The room was smaller than the one shown on the hotels.com website

Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. Despite attempting to cancel the booking within 30 minutes, I received no support. Based on this experience, I would not recommend staying here. Terrible service!

The location was amazing . The bar team was great and accommodating. We checked in and were assigned a room with room keys. Upon entering the room there was already a guest occupying that room, but our key worked and made for an uncomfortable situation. When we were assigned another room, the toilet was dirty and had feces in the toilet. We were offered a free breakfast for the inconvenience, which we did not take.

We booked a room with two beds. They overbooked and gave us a room with a queen bed shoved in with a king. No room to walk, very cramped. When I asked to switch they gave me a hard time. After insisting on talking to a manager they suddenly found me the room type I booked. I shouldnt' have had to do this. We added breakfast to our room when booking. When my adult daughters went to breakfast 25 minutes before it closed they were told there wasn't room for them. They were eventually offered a boxed breakfast. Hardly the experience we paid for. At 2 minutes before the restaurant closed, they sat 2 adult males. Awful experience from the moment we checked in.

Shower and water pressure. Towels were not really soft. No view. Restaurant hours are not convenient.
- 5/5
Luckily I was on the second floor so I used the stairs because the elevator was soo slow.
- 5/5
A great experience, well executed in every way.

The Lyle is a charming older hotel located close to Dupont Circle and convenient to all of the bars, restaurants and other commercial establishments in the area. Room was a bit small but very comfortable and the fitness room was well equipped.

This property is lovely check-in to checkout. It is my only choice when staying in DC for business.
- 5/5
Location
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Super courteous staff!
- 5/5
We loved our stay at the Lyle’s. The location is perfect, very walkable and safe. The staff is great, friendly and professional. The room was spacious, so well designed and very confortable.
- 5/5
The rooms are an exceptional and rare blend of comfortable, incredibly well- styled and well-appointed, and clean. The hotel somehow balances having local DC cool neighborhood vibe with a cosmopolitan, sophisticated aesthetic, coupled with a staff that is friendly and helpful. Nice little touches like nespresso machines, cool room lighting, DS & Durga shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and complimentary Saratoga Springs bottled spring water refreshed every day are also worth noting. There’s a very nice gym, a wonderful restaurant inside the hotel and the location is perfect - situated in one of DC’s most vibrant neighborhoods, DuPont Circle, where you can walk within 5-7 minutes to excellent restaurants, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, grocery stores and markets. The DC subway system known as the Metro is also a 7 min walk from the hotel - you can hop on the train and easily get to the downtown world-renowned Smithsonian museums (all free to enter, some require reservations in advance for timing, but still free of charge), or use the Metro to explore other neighborhoods in DC. Within a 15 minute walk, you’ll find other super fun neighborhoods like Logan Circle, U Street Corridor, and Shaw. One more thing — I love where the Lyle Hotel is located - it’s not on a busy commercial city st. next to other hotels and office buildings. It’s tucked in one of the most beautiful residential areas giving it an extra special vibe to come back to after exploring the bustling city
- 5/5
The cleanliness! There are no full length mirrors in the room that is super frustrating.
- 5/5
After a snowstorm knocked out power at the hotel I had initially booked, I thought my trip was sunk. Amazingly, the Lyle had a room, and I was able to book at the last minute. What a gem! The room was warm and cozy, and I almost missed my dinner plans because I didn't want to leave. Everyone was delightful, and it was extremely quiet. Can't wait to stay here again.
- 5/5
The room was well-appointed with some thoughtful touches that made a longer stay more comfortable. The gym was better than an average hotel gym. The location is convenient to Dupont Circle, and I'd definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Great registration desk staff. The restaurant was clean, staff lovely, and food delicious. Loved the location near Dupont Circle. Loved the hotel door attendant who was very helpful. Liked room amenities. Only wish there had been a full length mirror.
- 3/5
#719 hitters weak so feel a little cold and some noice from next room. But they are kind.
- 5/5
Beds were very comfortable!
- 5/5
We came to the Lyle hotel for our anniversary
- 4/5
Breakfast was great.
- 5/5
The service is very nice and friendly 😇
- 5/5
Everything about this property is amazing. The hotel rooms are very modern as well as clean. They also have a great restaurant and bar. The food was outstanding. This may bench new go to when visiting DC.
- 4/5
The room was very clean! However our room had a view of a maintenance storage area. It was very loud when the trash would be emptied and glass bottles crashing, but that wasn’t ever late at night! Overall a great stay, would stay here again, but not in a first floor room!
- 5/5
Excellent hotel !
- 5/5
Did not have breakfast.
- 5/5
This is the cutest hotel! The staff is extraordinary, kind and helpful. The room was spotless. It has a fridge, you get water and there are snacks available for your late night cravings. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Loved everything!
- 5/5
Amazing
- 3.5/5
We kept hearing glass being broken in the dumpster outside.
- 5/5
Great value for money in a quiet neighborhood, walking distance to DuPont circle
- 4/5
ok
- 1/5
Despite spending no more than 15 minutes the property and not staying a single night, they refused to issue a full or even a partial refund, claiming it was because we booked through a third party. When I contacted the third-party service, they informed me that the hotel manager was the one who flat-out refused. I am thoroughly disappointed with how we were treated and absolutely do not recommend this hotel. Thankfully, we were able to secure a much better hotel on short notice that exceeded our expectations.
- 4/5
The change from Breakfast to Brunch was not welcoming experience. Very regimented about starting right at 11...several tables were waiting to be seated. A beverage at the bar would have been a great option.
- 5/5
The Lyle team makes you feel special, welcome and at home. We love the neighborhood location, the understated, sophisticated decor and accommodations, the food is excellent and the staff are personal, kind and accomodating.
- 5/5
Super friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable and quiet room. Great cocktails!
- 5/5
Oir stay at Lyle Washington was magnificent! Everything was very clean and well maintained. Our check-in and check-out was easy and smooth. But mostly, we appreciated the incredible staff. They were extremely pleasant and helpful. Especially, the valet workers. We will definitely be returning
- 5/5
Great hotel.
- 5/5
Everything was lovely. The room was cozy and comfortable. The location was excellent. The staff were courteous and very helpful. I will stay at the Lyle again.
- 5/5
Definitely one of my favorite hotels in DC! I’ve stayed here dozens of times and every room is so cozy. The mid modern century aesthetic is super relaxing. It has a great gym. Staff is always super friendly. My only gripe is at the restaurant well often really good can be really terrible in terms of food, consistency, and service.
- 5/5
Great staff & hotel overall
- 5/5
Great hotel!
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff. Comfortable room.
- 5/5
Amazing stay , everyone was great at the hotel, totally stay a again in the future
- 5/5
Clean and quiet rooms, and a very friendly staff. The location is great for walks around Dupont Circle. It's also just a 5 minute walk to the Metro for quick trips around the city.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, staff was amazing, quiet are close to everything.
- 5/5
Awsome service, the breakfast was great and they even offer at the end of your stay to hold your bags incase you want to do more sightseeing/ activities.
- 5/5
I was very pleased with my stay at Lyle Washington DC. The staff was consistently friendly and willing to go out of their way for me. The restaurant downstairs offered good food. I ate dinner and breakfast there each. The room was nice and seemed as though the bathroom was renovated not that long ago. Amenities such as soap/lotion and shampoo/conditioner were provided. There was some noise outside at night and I think it was the trash pickup. But other than that, it was an overall very pleasant stay. Safeway was within walking distance where I bought water and snacks. There was a CVS as well as a number of restaurants, all of which were just down the street and around the corner. One thing was that I'm kind of short so it took me a little while to get to the train station but it was ok. Tip: If you are over 65, you can ride the bus for $1.10 each way, if you pay cash. The transportation system is very good in DC. I would definitely stay at the Lyle again.
- 5/5
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Always on point and welcoming anytime I arrived or departed. Consistently offered help if needed.
- 5/5
I loved this hotel. Intriguing decore and suttle design. Very nice hotel with a great restaurant!
- 5/5
Lovely breakfast and service
- 5/5
Great stay and staff were very helpful.
- 5/5
loved everything except the parking price to park here is unbelievably high
- 4/5
We had a great overnight at the Lyle.
- 5/5
Great room, great location, staff was amazingly helpful and welcoming
- 4/5
Nice staff and room was clean and bed very comfy and luxurious but very small
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel in a lovely neighborhood with easy access to Dupont Circle area, restaurants, etc. We suggested the room needed a full length mirror for future guests and 10 minutes later there was a mirror delivered!! Thank you Lyle staff--very thoughtful!
- 5/5
The hotel was great. The room was amazing. The staff is awesome!
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay in DC. Perfect location and a beautiful facility
- 5/5
Room spotless and the staff were exceptional!!!
- 4/5
The Lyle is a nice hotel in a great neighborhood. Staff were friendly and helpful. The decor is very high end and the restaurant / bar was lively and fun. The room itself was not very well lit with a small, but nice, bathroom. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
The staff was accommodating and pleasant and the rooms very nice with super comfortable beds. Fabulous location! I will stay there again.
- 5/5
Great location. Clean room and comfy. Good value
- 4/5
Room was well decorated but the unit controling the theromostat was not secured into the wall, literally just shoved into cut out drywall. Staff was accomodating to a point but we arrived lated and lots of glitches. Couldnt print a room key, valet was off duty as it was late which is fine but hand off between front desk and valet seemed uncoordinated. Same in the morning as the valet arrived late and only he seemed to know how to retrieve the car. Didnt seem worth the price for a "luxury" hotel.
- 5/5
Everything was spectacular as usual.
- 5/5
Excellent amenities, many restaurants walkable
- 5/5
Everything was perfect and the staff was great
- 5/5
The Lyle is a gem. A boutique hotel with soul. The rooms, restaurant and gym are immaculate, style driven and a pleasure. The staff is appreciative, professional and kind.
- 5/5
Clean rooms
- 5/5
All of the staff throughout the hotel was amazing. They were super kind and helpful with all questions and requests. The room was quiet and comfortable, the hotel restaurant food was absolutely delicious, and again: the staff was great.
- 5/5
Lovely!
- 5/5
An excellent neighborhood. The most friendly staff. I went running in the morning. I loved this stay and will stay there moving forward.
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
Last year, I found the Lyle in searching for hotels near where my conference was held and because the conference block rooms were sold out. This year, I chose the Lyle over the conference hotel because Lyle is a beautiful, gem boutique hotel with the luxury of a 5 Star property in the heart of Dupont, walkable, convenient, safe, excellent fitness center, and stellar customer service. That delicious banana bread welcome gift may have also influenced my decision to come back!😃
- 5/5
Great dinner - unique hotel - loved it
- 5/5
She went above and beyond to expeditiously resolve a duplicative charge assessed by Expedia; more importantly, worked tirelessly to locate my lost wallet. I would be remiss if I didn’t cite the integrity of the staff — ALL MY CASH and CARDS were intact / untouched! I am forever grateful for the hospitality and generosity; the Lyle has earned a life long because of my experience.
- 5/5
Friendly staff; nice clientele
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Nice staff. Excellent location
- 5/5
Didn't eat breakfast
- 4/5
- 5/5
it was clean and modern
- 5/5
Loved the hotel. Super charming. Got a corner king room. Expedia definitely saved us money! Restaurant was excellent. Bed very comfortable and the area was quiet and charming architecture.
- 5/5
A very nice art deco hotel, great location ,but the walls are very thin. You can hear people talking in the hallway.
- 5/5
Amazing location! Such a cute, walkable neighborhood with plenty of restaurants! Close to everything we want to see. Clean, quiet rooms, excellent staff, wonderful bar! If we go back to DC we will definitely stay at the Lyle!
- 5/5
Charming boutique hotel near Dupont Circle. The staff was friendly and attentive. The dining room was beautiful. The decor had flair. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again on my next visit to DC. The hotel far exceeded my expectations.
- 5/5
Great room albeit a bit on the small side for two people. Loved the staff across the board, bar and restaurant included!
- 5/5
Very comfortable rooms. Helpful staff.
- 5/5
Karen checked me in w professionalism. Door men were always attentive of the foor
- 5/5
The location was great for our stay to visit our daughter and take in the city’s sights. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
I've stayed at the Lyle before, and the staff are wonderful, the hotel is beautiful, and it's very conveniently located. The gym is very nice. The room this time had a very odd smell, so we had to keep the windows open, otherwise we had our usual excellent stay.
- 4/5
Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast
- 5/5
Loved the room
- 5/5
Nice neighborhood, clean and friendly staff
- 5/5
Great hotel!
- 5/5
Staff were friendly. Rooms nice. Bathrooms small and no place to put clothes in drawers. But I liked the coziness.
- 4/5
I chose to stay at the Lyle for its location. It is a good hotel but nothing truly special. This trip I had a room next to the elevator. This is when I discovered that the hotel does nothing to soundproof the rooms. I would hear every conversation by people waiting for the elevator or stepping out of it as if they were inside my room. I stayed 3 nights. I was awoken every night by people using the elevator.
- 5/5
Everything was great. I would stringly recommend it!
- 4/5
I liked the staff! Hotel is old. We were there for 7 days w limited amount of closet space, no
- 5/5
Great staff. Clean and neat room. Older but really well kept. Will definitely stay again
- 4/5
Everything was great except the lighying in our room and closet. Closet light didn’t stay on long enough. Not enough light in room especially in the area by the door.
- 5/5
It was about a 10 minute walk to the metro that meandered through a nice neighborhood and passing through DuPont Park which was beside the Metro station. There were several nice restaurants within a 10 minute walk from the hotel. You could also eat at the hotel restaurant.
- 4/5
Lovely staff and room. Nice extras like an umbrella if you need it.
- 5/5
Great hotel. We stayed in room above entrance. Some noise from people talking. The restaurant was incredibly good food and service and not ultra expensive.
- 4/5
One of my favorite boutique style hotels in DC. Simple yet beautiful decor - rooms feel clean and fresh with all the white details. Hotel staff is always friendly, restaurant/bar staff could be more friendly. Love the location - easily walkable to restaurants, shops, and services. My ONLY real gripe is that the AC is never cold enough. I have to request a light blanket so I don’t end up waking up sweating in the middle of the night - this is definitely the one keeps the Lyle from being my top choice the couple times a month I’m in for business.
- 5/5
Great hotel, great location! Very friendly staff and room was very clean.
- 5/5
Very clean , professional staff , beautiful place!
- 3/5
This message is meant for the hotel only. I message is to be of help and certainly not to hurt. Our room was beautiful. The reception was also very good. Unfortunately, the dampness in the room was very unpleasant and uncomfortable. When we entered the room, the smell was of dampness. We opened the windows immediately. Regardless of our efforts, I woke up the next morning with one of the worst sinus headaches I have had in a lifetime. I am not sure what the hotel can do about that as I don’t know if that was just our room or the issue permeates to other spaces. When I return to DC, I doubt I will be going back to the Lyle. That is unfortunate as it is in a great location.
- 5/5
Helpful staff, restaurant and bar on site very good.
- 4/5
The staff were all very courteous and the room was nice. Amazing bar and lounge .The only thing I would change is that the bathroom in our room was not really private and there was not enough light in the room but it was very clean
- 3/5
Don’t stay on the first floor-employees loud at all hours. Also, mysterious lights kept going on all night and finally had to unplug it
- 5/5
Clean rooms, grateful for umbrella and tote bag ready to use on our commute. Liked that each room had a safe. Staff was nice. No place for luggage, no drawers to unpack but small closet space. Overall great place to stay.
- 5/5
Perfect stay! Close to everything & staff was amazing!
- 5/5
Great stay, except that the hostess at the Lyle restaurant was a little bit rude. Otherwise, lovely and comfortable room, nice food and cocktails, excellent service.
- 5/5
- 5/5
It was good
- 5/5
Very quiet room. Convenient location. Walkable neighborhood. Good breakfast dining. Excellent value.
- 5/5
The staff was great - super friendly and helpful!
- 5/5
Lovely place. Quiet, clean, classy. Rooms are appointed thoughtfully. Beautiful neighborhood. Should have separate recycling cans in rooms.
- 3/5
The hotel doesn’t look at like the pictures. It’s not luxury although does have a nice lobby and the bathroom was up-to-date. The rooms were dated and had odd furniture and details such as metals doors that have a prison like feel. Was also musty. Wouldn’t stay here again and incredibly o er priced. Location was good though.
- 5/5
To start, the staff is wonderful. This is a hidden gem property reinvented with an understated modern European esthetic. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed, staff and service accommodating and very personable and the restaurant and bar are excellent.
- 4/5
It had a vintage feeling.
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel! The room had great flow. The bedding was extremely comfortable. The sofa was firm with little coffee tables. The table in the center of the room was perfecr for conversation , dishes in the kitchen were upscale , the door to the bathroom was thick, the first quiet bathroom I've ever been in , and it even had a makeup station. Walking on the sidewalks in the neighborhood was a pleasure. I'd go back there in a heartbeat
- 5/5
Loved the restaurant !
- 4/5
Excellent place! Great location, it was clean and spacious. I was there during an eventful weekend but it was quiet for the majority of the stay.
- 5/5
great space and layout. does have iffy a/c (will get cold but takes a while and doesn’t stay) and low water pressure, both minor things because the entire hotel is great! service charges at the end
- 5/5
- 5/5
perfect getaway
- 3/5
Hotel is in a good location relatively easy walk to Maejor sites.
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room fine. Hotel very clean. Reasonable prices.
- 5/5
This is my go to hotel in DC! The staff and service are outstanding every time. The amenities and location are great too.
- 5/5
I recommend this property. The service was excellent. It was clean and comfortable with a great art deco vibe.
- 5/5
I love the quiet, modern style that the Lyle offers. The staff is helpful.
- 5/5
Really loved my stay here. It was so clean and comfortable
- 5/5
The location on a quiet, tree-lined street is perfect — close to Dupont Circle restaurants, coffee shops, but away from the noise. Rooms are spacious, calming neutral tones . I loved having a Nespresso machine
- 5/5
What a gem. Our room was lovely and spacious. Located in a beautiful neighborhood. Very walkable and blocks to the metro station.
- 5/5
Nice place, cool vibe
- 5/5
Clean, friendly and excellent
- 5/5
One of the best hotels I stayed in. Would return if in DC. Try the omelette for breakfast, it is delicious.
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Will return
- 5/5
Love the Lyle
- 4/5
Good location. Nice hotel. A little tired.
- 4/5
Cute property in fabulous DuPont Circle. Room was really quaint, but AC was not powerful enough to cool down the room. We told the front desk and they said they’d fix it, but didn’t get fixed. It might be that it was just really hot the weekend we were there.
- 5/5
all good
- 4/5
Service was good and room was clean and comfortable. The gym, though nice, had a lot of big flies all over the place, many were dead and some flying around. That was disappointing but the room itself was clean and no issues.
- 5/5
Loved our stay!!! It was perfect
- 5/5
Great location. Room was quite and bed very comfortable
- 4/5
But I cannot say enough wonderful things about Teddy the doorman-valet! He should be promoted to concierge! Bad shower pressure. No ice machine. Had to ask for a full length mirror. Rooms are New York small, and unnecessary furniture in the room taking up too much space. More hooks needed in the bathroom for towels, I was with my husband and we had a king, so it would make more sense that the bathroom would need more towel racks. But my biggest complaint is that they put a Nespresso machine in the room instead of a Keurig. The front desk kept giving me decaf, and didn't know the difference between the pods, and argued with me about it until I showed her the pods online. Then she just said she'd send housekeeping but didn't. I had to go buy my own. Keurig is easier to use, easier to find in a store, and make a real size cup of coffee. Just an irritant. Please hired friendly helpful people to work at the Lyle. I'm in the service industry for 40 years, and still working so I know how to treat customers!
- 5/5
Beautiful, quant hotel just far enough away from the craziness of downtown DC. Nice, clean rooms and a great restaurant with even better food and drinks. I will definitely be back with my family
- 5/5
I truly enjoyed this property.
- 5/5
Great place and fantastic staff. Perfect location close enough to everything, but far enough to be relaxing and quiet!
- 4/5
This was a lovely hotel. Our room was a decent size and it was very clean and location central. I loved having the same Nespresso machine in our room as we did at home. The only suggestion is that I would have wanted the air conditioning cooler, as it was very warm in July when we went.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Enjoyed breakfast and dinner in the restaurant very much. Gracious and skilled staff. All good.
- 5/5
Location and the ambience
- 5/5
Great staff, wonderful food at the restuarant.
- 5/5
Great staff, wonderful food
- 1/5
The room itself was just okay, and I didn’t try the hotel restaurant. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel because they’re disorganized and double-charged me despite my room being paid in full.
- 4/5
Walking distance to restaurants we stayed at the 7th floor , At night you can hear pipes noise from above. Hard to Sleep Most definitely will recommend it
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
Great property

Um . . . pedestal sink in 2025 with no adjacent table or ledge? Seriously? Not even a space for my toothbrush and paste. Try putting on make up or drying your hair, or curling it while going back and forth to the bed. And 1 towel? Great, if you're a man. No place for your stuff in the shower. No shaving ledge. And no place to hang towel while showering. You either get out of the shower soaking wet and drip everywhere, or put it on the toilet or floor. Speaking of bed, everything was polyfil so even with the thermo down low, you'll sweat. Pretty, but not restful. No full mirror anywhere, not even the hallway. No desk/table or chair in the rooms, so zero place to put your laptop if you don't want to work on your bed or go to the public area (which who wants to do at 10pm?). I worked on my bed, but it was not optimal. No iron in room. Steamer was mediocre at best. But the real issue was no outlet in any place where there was a hook for your item to hang, so you had to hold your item with one hand while steaming -- awkward, especially if you are not tall (like me). The staff made it good. Helpful. Kind. Attentive. If my pain points don't bother you, then it's a great place because location and staff were great. I'm not mad, just disappointed.
- 4/5
Clean and convenient
- 5/5
Nice property
- 4/5
Places to eat close by within a 10min walk. (We did not rent a car, we walked everywhere and or Uber’d in the evening once we were done - all the Ubers/Taxi knew where the hotel was so it was quick) The ONLY issue we had was the shower - it wouldnt get to an in between of warm and hot and so after a long day of touring DC ( & walking everywhere) a nice warm shower is what we all wanted and we couldn’t get it just right but once we did, it took forever & we’d have to be quick once it finally got to a temp we wanted.
- 5/5
It is a wonderful hotel.
- 5/5
The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Front desk staff were helpful in calling a taxi and providing information about the area surrounding the hotel. The hotel restaurant was cozy and comfortable with couch seating in addition to regular seating. Overall, a great hotel in a good location.
- 4/5
Good room size. Bathroom need some shelves to put your personal stuff.
- 5/5
Conveniently located near Dupont Circle, and easily accessible by metro.
- 5/5
Very comfortable and welcoming.

Nothing

I have stayed at more upscale places for much less money. I’m from New York City. I’m aware that things cost more in certain localities, but I was quite underwhelmed, but I will say the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I also got an upgrade (which I paid for) for a kitchenette to be in the room and it did not include a refrigerator which was pointless. The only “refrigerator” in the room was filled with items that needed to be paid for and no space for any personal food items or leftovers or anything like that - just a mini-bar type fridge. The walls were also very thin when I was in the bathroom I could hear other guests in their rooms. And it did not present as a whole as clean as I would’ve preferred both in the room and in the building itself. Also to be in a major city I was surprised at the Kitchen closed at 10 PM and the bar closed at 11 PM even though it was a weekday. I likely will not come back for this cost. The complimentary Saratoga water was nice.
- 5/5
Modern homey so comfortable easy and you gotta love valet parking in and out
- 4/5
Great lunch. Enjoyed the gym. Hotel a bit stuffy. First floor room loud and had A strange smell
- 5/5
The Lyle was very nice and we enjoyed our stay. Great location within walking distance to metro and close to a lot of great bars and restaurants. Room and bathroom were clean and had a cool bar area downstairs.
- 5/5
Small quiet hotel. Amazing staff, very comfortable beds
- 5/5
Had a great stay at this gorgeous historic hotel that has been thoughtfully remodeled. Loved the modern touches. The decor felt homey but clean. Everything was very comfortable and the food was great.
- 5/5
Everyone was incredibly helpful and knowledgable!!!! Great stay!
- 4/5
Great location, convenient to Dupont Circle and Metro. Bathroom had great amenities, could just use plusher towels. Ours were thin and frayed with holes in them.
- 4/5
Not very good customer care and confusing room service or the lack thereof.
- 5/5
Return visit and will stay again anytime I’m in DC. Walkable, easy access to Reagan Airport, super friendly staff, delicious restaurant!
