Reviews
The hotel is praised for its convenient location, friendly and helpful staff, and cleanliness. However, many guests complained about the ongoing construction noise and some rooms being outdated. Some guests also expressed dissatisfaction with the extra fees and charges.

The staff was great, quick to provide directions or favorite spots to grab a bite to eat. Perfect location. Highly recommend.

Excellent location central to all DC has to offer. The lobby is very grand and impressive and staff was helpful every step of the way. The rooms were just ok for this level of hotel - water pressure was low, the thermostat did not work and room was unbearably hot, and the mattress was extremely soft - ok for some, but not my personal preference. Some minor tweaks, a bit more of room amenities (emery board, shower cap) and this could be a five star

Room 934 was far from the noise in the Atrium. Room 934. Difficult to view the television from the bed. A stronger shower spray would be nice.

Needed a last minute stay and we were not disappointed with this property. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel was quiet and the windows insulated the city noise. Drapes kept out the city lights as well. The gentleman who checked us in was well excellent. Parking garage in the building was also very convenient. Would definitely recommend this property.

Room was very nice. Check-in was terrible - I've never seen a longer line. We had to race to the room to change in time for our dinner reservation. They clearly need to consider online checkin and keyless entry with phone. Worst part was valet - they use separate service and text you code to pay online for the valet fee. They put in someone else's license plate number. So we ended up asking them to put our valet charge on our room, yet this company kept texting us to pay for someone else's valet. As far as we know, it still hasn't been resolved (20 days later). Drop your bags off and then park elsewhere!

The hotel is recently renovated so it’s very nice and clean. However, the staff were not so helpful. They did not bother to address a major noise complaint.

This place did try to upcharge/upgrade us when we checked in, which I declined (someone a little more susceptible to pressure might not have known they could decline). There was also a hidden $35 fee for the room. Additionally, the valet parking was EXTREMELY expensive with an 18% tax rate overnight and a service fee, and took 45 minutes for the car to be delivered to us. They told us 15-20 minutes. Service felt generally predatory.
- 5/5
The staff was fantastic. I received excellent customer service starting with valet to the front desk. Definitely went above my expectations. My room was spotless and the view was awesome. Not having dinning options but it was okay because the hotel was very good at informing me about the Renovations.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here this weekend. Check in was super easy and quick, our room was immaculate and spacious! We loved the restaurant downstairs and the hotel was close to museums and shopping! We will definitely be back!
- 4/5
Beautiful property & conveniently located. Within walking distance to landmarks. The room was a little too warm for us at night but that might just be us. Other than that everything was great!
- 3/5
Hotel location and rooms good, staff were rude and very slow
- 4/5
Location is a total winner. Lovely big atrium
- 1/5
The restaurant was closed and our room wasn’t ready. By the time we checked in , they gave us a king bed when we paid for a double bed. We had four people staying in the room and they were”sold out of. Rooms”. Then she said we would get 50,000 points to redeem for the inconvenience and we have not gotten those points. She said it would take 7 days and it has been 2 weeks and nothing.

For such a large hotel to have no restaurant or bar is shocking. No glasses in the room. Very long walk to elevator.
- 3.5/5
Not too bad. 1, air conditioners too noisy 2. I booked a twin bed room, and I found a long hair inside the sheets of the first bed,so I used second bed. 3. The shower faucet pipe is protruding unusually far from the wall; I'm not sure what's going on with it. 4. The soundproofing is poor; I can clearly hear people talking in the hallway.
- 3/5
since it was the public holiday, the cleaning was not on time and had to book cleaning service, which surprised us. The location is perfect and room is fine. It's a huge hotel and I guess it has too many guests to take good care of all people. cleaning service is not that good and when we tried to call the desk, very difficult to find a person to answer the phone call.

I have immediately reported the fall after coming out the shower. I have a few concerns. I talked to the front desk staff, Dave, and Mido. None of your staff knows the exact time your sensors have for the bathroom light, so I have conducted a few times of turning it on and waiting until it turns off automatically. It varies from 9 min and 13 secs to 10 mins and 13 secs. I have a video of it. Dave checked the light switch and found nothing wrong. So it works well. You have no kill switch to stop the automatic turn off. I know this because I have asked him to stop the sensors. Your sensors do not sense the movement inside the glass shower. When the lights turned off, it only turned back on when I opened the glass door, but I have already fallen then. That’s when I knew your lights are on auto off mode with sensors. Your bathrooms have no windows, so there is no natural light. That’s no problem. The problem is that you have an auto off mode on your lights that will turn off after 9-10 mins. If you’re inside the shower, you will be in darkness, and that little light at the socket at the sink is not enough light for safety. The app you use for valet does not work well. It only tells you your car is being retrieved, but not when the car is already there. Check with your app vendor. It’s frustrating.
- 3/5
They are in construction, to much noise
- 4/5
Metro is right below the hotel which is very convenient.

Staff weren’t very responsive. We requested a pack n play to be in our room, it was confirmed to check it. It was not in our room and when we called to have them send it they never did.
- 5/5
Didn't see a pool,.
- 4/5
It is a beautiful hotel however I was disappointed that my room was not available until around 6:00 PM when check-in was supposed to be at 4 PM. This messed up our dinner plans as we had reservations at a restaurant that evening and no time to get ready for it.Also, I didn’t realize that they didn’t have microwaves in the rooms.
- 5/5
My husband and I had another wonderful stay at Grand Hyatt. We will book here every time we visit DC. Thank you for great service from the front desk to the cleaning ladies.
- 4/5
Weak water pressure and no microwave
- 4/5
We brooks two queens bedroom, they are giving you one queen bedroom
- 5/5
Our stay at the Grand Hyatt Washington was exceptional. My only two critiques were that you had to go to the 1st floor to warm your food up. We also hoped there would be carts to carry our luggage
- 1/5
Avoid this hotel!! Charge you $35 every night here and not providing the service that matches the price
- 5/5
Would stay here again.
- 2/5
During my Expedia search this hotel mention free breakfast but after the booking the breakfast was not included. Even after my bookings of two rooms with two double beds I sent a request for adjoining rooms as we were traveling with kids that should not be out of our sight. Our request was not even met, therefore three of our teenagers had to squeeze into one bed. We also asked for extra blankets and it was never delivered to our room. Very disappointed in this booking and hotel
- 3/5
I had already checked in around noon on April 3, and was told I would be notified when the room was ready. After receiving a text message confirming my room is ready and top by the front desk. I returned to the Hotel in the evening, but was required to be in the queue for check-in again. The line was long, and I waited for about 20 minutes, which was quite unreasonable and frustrating.

Nothing, no room ready on time, paid extra fees for drop off my luggage. Nothing
- 5/5
Clean room and the staff was very hospitable. It was a very relaxing environment. Breakfast buffet had an omelette station with Belgium waffles.
- 4/5
The walls/doors between connected rooms are paper thin. Could hear phone conversations and snoring at night. Otherwise the stay was great.
- 2/5
Water was so hot and not able to cool down. It was either scalding hot or ice cold. No in between. Air conditioning was super loud and not able to change.
- 3/5
The hotel is currently under renovation, but is in a convenient location. I paid for a club lounge room. My view was of the atrium which was not specified in the listing. The food in the club lounge was underwhelming. We asked for plastic utensils to be sent to the room and instead they brought us towels.
- 5/5
Good location for walking to restaurants and the Smithsonian museums and the National Mall. Hotel had a super friendly staff and the room was wonderful and quiet. Starbucks located in the lobby was convenient.

I’m writing to share my recent experience during check-in, which was extremely disappointing—especially as a World of Hyatt member. I had three rooms booked with club access: two rooms for a one-night stay and one room for a two-night stay. Check-in was guaranteed for 4:00 PM. While one room was available slightly early at 3:30 PM, the remaining two were not ready at the promised time. We returned to the front desk at 4:15 PM and waited in line again until approximately 4:40 PM to receive the second room. We were then told the third room was not ready and that we would receive a call or text once it became available. Despite confirming my contact information twice, I never received any communication. After waiting over 3.5 hours, we returned to the front desk around 8:00 PM and were finally given the third room at approximately 8:05 PM. This delay significantly impacted our stay—particularly for the two one-night reservations, where a large portion of the evening was lost. Additionally, we were placed in an uncomfortable situation with other guests while attempting to resolve the issue. Aside from a brief apology stating that our number “did not transfer,” no effort was made to remedy the situation or acknowledge the inconvenience caused. Given the circumstances, I would appreciate it if you could review this matter and provide appropriate compensation, especially considering the shortened stay for two of the rooms.

Location was great. Had access to the metro right off of the lobby. Beautiful hotel with stunning lobby.
- 4.5/5
Prices and taxes for breakfast too overpriced
- 5/5
Not much restaurant to eat in in the hotel
- 4/5
Hotel is great. Staff was very pleasant. Valet parking However was not a good experience. If you are not planning to take your car out until you are leaving then use the self parking garage around the corner
- 5/5
conveniently near the metro there was nothing I disliked, the staff was very friendly. I was not there long enough to provide actual feedback.
- 5/5
easy check-in, room was big and clean. i love the Balmain toiletries.
- 3/5
You checked us in to an already occupied room that made things very uncomfortable for both parties so had to go down to get rechecked in. No apology. Nothing in return.
- 5/5
It was very extravagant, luxurious and so accommodating! We would definitely return The staff was super friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and updated, and not from restaurants in walking distance. Loved the Starbucks on site too
- 4/5
Nice place but under renovation and lacked the amenities you’d expect
- 5/5
Top notch everything. From location, to stunning lobby, to quick/always available elevators.. this place had it all. Cleanliness and incredible customer service everywhere we went on property, cannot wait to return.
- 4/5
Wonderful staff and clean room
- 4/5
Great location, but bed & pillows were uncomfortable. Bed was very hard and pillows overly squishy. Loud with other guests in and out and construction next door.
- 1.5/5
Staff were not friendly or helpful. They often seemed understaffed with long lines at Registration. The room doors are paper thin and the cleaning staff were loud in the morning.
- 3/5
The room itself was clean and well-maintained, and the staff throughout the hotel were consistently polite and welcoming. That said, the beds were a bit of a letdown. As someone who travels frequently, I’ve experienced much more comfortable accommodations, so that was noticeable. The breakfast buffet offered a variety of options; however, given the room rate, the pricing felt excessive, especially with the additional 18% service charge. If we stayed again, we would definitely choose to find breakfast elsewhere. Overall, the hotel delivers where it matters most with its excellent location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. With a few improvements particularly the beds and breakfast value, it could easily be a top tier stay in Washington, D.C.

- 4/5
It was convenient and close to everything. We went to a concert in the Capital One arena so it was walking distance.
- 4/5
Hotel was very crowded for an event and felt like the front desk person didn’t take their time to explain amenities and nearby attractions
- 2.5/5
Location was great and the hotel was clean and comfortable. The room was spacious but could’ve used a small table and chair sitting area so we weren’t always sitting on the bed. Not the hotel’s doing but there was demolition of the building across the street from our room which was very disturbing early in the morning.

Bar in under construction. Rooms were very nice. Amenities were sparse. There was a conference in the basement and the entire lobby smelled like dead fish on Saturday night. Not sure what they served but it went through the whole lobby area due to the open architecture.

1. Requested room service on Saturday, never happened. Made a trip to the front desk at 2pm to confirm they would send someone up to do it. We returned later that night and found it was not done. Requested additional towels and it took an hour to get. We were placed on the third floor, on 11th St, directly across from construction taking place at early hours. It would have been nice to get that disclaimer ahead of time. Disappointing for a Hyatt property

Even with the main restaurant out of service for refurbishment, this was a beautiful stay! The facility is quite nice, well appointed, and I had an amazing sleep! Also, got in-room dining. That Pappardelle Bolognese plus Tiramisu was so good after the concert that I went to. Even ended up getting a couple red bulls in the morning from the manager after I checked out. I’ll be back! 100%. This is now in my top 3 hotels for DC.

Beautiful, clean, up-to-date hotel in heart of DC, walkable to the Mall. All hotel restaurants were closed during our stay, so we had to find breakfast elsewhere, but they should reopen in mid-January 2026. One note on parking: we self-parked in the hotel garage, but used SpotHero to make the reservation, guaranteeing us a space, at half the price, with in/out privileges (which the hotel doesn't offer if you park with them).

We loved the convenience of the metro being steps away and also having a Starbucks in the lobby. The construction next door / outside our window was pretty loud in the early hours (jackhammers) but we didn’t notice construction noise from our hotel until we left the room. Staff was pleasant and helpful. We had an issue with our bathroom sink clogging and they came right away to fix it. We would stay here again because of location and service.
- 4/5
No meals
- 2/5
I stayed for one full week and every night the adjacent room occupants were extremely loud until 3-4 am. I had to call every night for Noise disturbances. I believe the hotel walls must also be extremely thin as it sounded like we were all in the same room. The hotel was also fairly empty in the middle of the week and given the large number of rooms it was disappointing to have all of us clumped up in the same corner of the floor.

- 4/5
Location was great. Rooms were nice , clean and very comfy . Only drawback was they were renovating. So none of the restaurants or bars were open. And our. View from the room was a dumpster filled with pallets and construction debris. I really wish hotels would give you a heads up when they’re renovating. The service was good for what they could provide. I’m sure once the renovations are done. It would be a perfect choice for DC.
- 5/5

The dinner menu was refreshing and the customer service as excellent! We also enjoyed the downtown DC views and the vicinity
- 3/5
I was more concern that there was no bellman at check-in. I carried my luggage to my room and wondered if this was standard practice. Look forward revisiting the property after renovations.

Location is great.Walkable to national mall, china town and capital one arena. Lots of dining option around. Staff are friendly and accommodating.Breakfast has good options from cereal, to oats, hot breakfast:eggs, bacon, sausage, variety of cold cuts and cheese..just to name a few.

Clean, safe, great staff.
- 3/5
The property was clean and updated. I gave them 3 stars for these reasons: a 'destination fee' of $30/night + tax for what?
- 5/5
Amaizing hotel
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Wonderful stay
- 5/5
Very happy with our room, breakfast and the lobby was amazing - the staff from the cabinet wait staff, valets, front desk, concierge and bell as well as housekeeping were all exceptional
- 5/5
Will come back again
- 5/5
everything was great and really comforting after being stranded due to a cancelled flight.
- 4/5
It was an awesome stay, they even have a metro station access point inside the lobby it’s super convenient if you don’t have a car or just want to explore without one. If you do have a car, it’s $65+ dollars a day for valet, there is a parking garage attached to the hotel but it’s $45+ a day and doesn’t have the unlimited in and out trips like the valet does.
- 5/5
The staff is amazingly helpful and guest-focused. We got our room early at our request but their schedule, helpful bellmen, informed concierge who helped us with the metro. And the property is beautiful and filled with sunlight.
- 5/5
Great trip
- 4/5
High-end hotel, conveniently located and walkable to DC attractions
- 5/5
Great location and helpful staff
- 4/5
Only issue was rooms have thin walls, we could hear neighbors activities.
- 5/5
Renovated hotel..
- 3/5
The reception staff did not speak proper English which made it very difficult to communicate our needs and understanding them.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel. Location amazing.
- 4/5
Love this hotel can’t wait to come back !
- 5/5
cleaning and location
- 5/5
So amazing and nice it really was everything I expected and more
- 4/5
Good hotel with perfect location , nice restaurant and quiet big rooms
- 5/5
This hotel was absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean and well-maintained. I would definitely come back here to stay again.
- 3/5
The hotel was beautiful. The room was nice but rather small. I felt that the rooms would of been a bit more roomier and have a microwave. The microwave was on the Lobby floor, I believe. It is surrounded by many places to walk to like, restaurants, etc. We took lyfts and everything was like 10-12 minutes away. So that was great!
- 4/5
Will go back again
- 1/5
The incorrect information, lack of information and extra hidden charges was very disappointing! The Front Desk Staff was terrible due to this experience! The Hotel is nice but the Staff was insensitive and unprofessional! For that reason alone, it messed up my experience in visiting DC/ this hotel for the first time!
- 5/5
The hotel is in a great location to see the sites, close to the national mall. Excellent hotel. We particularly enjoyed the Club Lounge, with great food for breakfast and in the evening, and very friendly staff
- 5/5
Nice
- 1/5
The microwave was our biggest issue. We believed that as long as we request one we could have one in our room but we had to use the one on the first floor that’s shared for everyone. Very disappointing for the price we paid and for the hotel itself being so extravagant.
- 5/5
Clean and quiet. Walkable to the Washington Convention Center.
- 5/5
It is conveniently located within walking distance of a lot of attractions as well and access to the metro is right there. The food was also great. We can’t wait to go back.
- 5/5
We loved the easy access to the metro and how clean the hotel was! We would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Also note: there’s a $50 per night hold for incidentals that wasn’t clearly stated on Hotels.com. It’s something to budget for. A couple more positives: the 24-hour gym was a great bonus, and even without a pool, the hotel still offered a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
- 4/5
Excellent choice, great staff
- 5/5
Location unbelievable
- 3/5
The air conditioner in the room is noisy.
- 4/5
Loved the hotel, location, and service. The only thing is it lacked amenities.
- 4/5
Cons: breakfast buffet not that great
- 5/5
Good hotel
- 5/5
The hotel accommodations were excellent. The staff was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about sights and attractions. It is centrally located and accessible to everything in the area.
- 5/5
Very nice
- 5/5
Everything was amazing! Jason who checked us in went above and beyond! Ike at the concierge was amazing too!!
- 5/5
It was beautiful, well maintained.
- 5/5
Everything was great and close to everything! Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Easy to catch a cab, feels safe and secure. The gym equipment doesn’t all connect to the internet, but that’s a pretty small complaint.
- 5/5
luxury location
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Updated rooms. Friendly staff.

1. The destination fee is outrageous. It is expensive ($30+~$5 tax per room per day) and the benefits are misrepresented and miserly. For example, the metro card is per room, not per reservation. I looked into booking a “discounted “ town car through the hotel and was quoted a rate nearly double the highest quoted by any company I contacted directly. We never saw, nor were we offered, the healthy snacks that are supposedly included. All told, the fee for two rooms x two nights , including tax, came to $140. For this we received uneven wi-fi service, $6 in Metro carfare, and four bottles of water. I would have much preferred to simply pay for decent WiFi a la carte. This felt like theft. 2. We requested housekeeping service our room in the late morning/early afternoon when we knew we would be out. They didn’t show up until late afternoon, when we were back in our room resting. 3. The atrium-facing rooms are very loud. Had I known this would be the case I would have requested street-facing rooms (we had one of each and the street-facing room was *much* quieter. 4. There is not nearly enough drawer space, and our room did not include a luggage rack from which to unpack.

Hotel was immaculate to say the least. Cleanliness was top notch. Love Hyatt and will always stay at Hyatt. Only reason I didn’t give a 5 star is because when I booked through Expedia I read that breakfast was included in the package. When we checked in the front desk receptionist also told us breakfast was included. But after eating, we were handed a bill of $140.00 for 3 people. When we inquired, the waitress said to go to the front desk and they will process a refund. We paid and front desk staff told us, breakfast wasn’t included in our package to go back and check with the site we booked, which is Expedia. At this point it was too hassling, we just left it as it is. Going forward, I think Hyatt should be more clear and have staff more informed before they check in guests. Make sure they look at the package before giving miss information. By the way, we paid about $500 for one night stay at Hyatt DC.

Pristine building, service was phenomenal. Thanks!!

Staff was friendly and service was great.

Great property, amazing atrium.

I received a response from guests services and was basically told that I wasn’t able to receive a refund because I was the only person with a child on my booking. I saw plenty of families with children there, including people a few doors down from us. So if you want a free meal just give them any room number, they won’t ask for any type verification that it’s your room being charged and not someone else’s. I’ve attached the piss poor response for reference.
- 5/5
Staff are friendly and we were able to check in at 10am without any problem. Very nice property.
- 5/5
Very good attention from the staff at the front desk and the breakfast restaurant. Always very helpful.

This is my husbands and I third time staying here. We will be back again
- 5/5
Amazing! Great staff! Great location!

Being over charged...
- 4/5
The hotel itself felt dark in the hallways. In the room, they needed to take away a hanging lamp right in front of a mirror. It was difficult to use the mirror. Happy to have a makeup mirror in the bathroom but felt that a safety bar would be helpful in the shower. Starbucks was convenient but prices in the gift shop and restaurant were high. Overall a good place to stay for a quick weekend to DC
