From the moment I entered the lobby, it was apparent that the facility was not being properly cared for. The furniture was stained, scratched, and visibly worn. It appeared that management was either unaware of these conditions or had chosen not to address them. The lack of maintenance extended throughout the property. From the pool area to the elevators, floors, and fixtures throughout the property, there was visible dirt, damage, and general neglect. It appeared that routine cleaning and maintenance were not being performed. My initial room had a ceiling leak that had been poorly repaired. The leak had clearly existed for some time, as mold was present and the wallpaper was bubbling and peeling away from the wall. In addition, the furniture was broken, the balcony showed signs of mold and rust, and the outdoor furniture was dirty and unclean. Overall, the room resembled accommodations several levels below what one would reasonably expect from a Wyndham property—more akin to a student dormitory than a hotel charging premium rates. I paid more than $1,400 in advance for this 7-day stay, and the condition of the hotel did not justify that expense. Had I known the true condition of the property, I would not have booked this hotel. The experience was extremely disappointing and far below the standard I have come to expect.

Great view of ocean and comfortable chairs on balcony. Comfortable bed. Pillows way too overstuffed. Room clean but carpet was stained and tired. Staff very friendly and helpful. Stayed only 2 nights. Would have liked fresh towels for day 2.

Very poor planning on the part of the administration. Unclear where entrance was. Helpline in a different state, front desk didn't answer. Didn't even have a cup in the room.

We liked that we were able to check in before check in time. We liked having plenty of parking available. We liked being right on the beach. The water pressure in the shower is wonderful. The entire place looks run down. Our room was clean enough, but it could use some real TLC. The bathroom really needs some attention. The wallpaper is falling off the wall, and the effects of not having a fan to vent the moisture from showering is really taking its toll. We did not receive cleaning services. We asked the front desk when rooms were typically cleaned and were told that we needed to request service for our room rather than it being provided. That would have been useful information to get during check in.

It would really have helped to have a buffet breakfast. The breakfast there for $18 was really bad bacon uncooked eggs looked old we left went elsewhere for breakfast. But at the price we paid per evening shortly bagels and coffee could’ve been provided for free.

Best beach view of any hotel, away from the other hotels. Staff was very friendly and got me free upgrade at check-in. Hotel restaurant had outside beach view and live music. Indoor/Outdoor pools were also great. Never had any issues finding seats to chill. Will definitely stay again, this place was too awesome!

However, checking in with the night crew was a disaster. I had to wait almost thirty mins for Todd to check in the guest before me. Then he checked me into the wrong room and told me that was the only room available. When I finally got to the room the door wouldn't accept the key. Todd then changed my room to a non oceanfront room even though I paid more money for a coastal room. I checked on the Wyndham app and confirmed that there was other options available, then asked Todd to upgrade me. He told me if I wanted an upgrade I would need to book the other room online then request a refund from expedia. So much for hospitality.

The view of the ocean is spectacular from the deck. The beach, be it away from the hustle and bustle of the southern boardwalk, is quite and less crowded than other parts of this resort city.

Beach view is great. But not very clean elevators were dirty pool was dirty we stayed 3 days only seen the staff on out last day never cleaned the room during our stay. So if your are on a budget and dont plan on staying in the room much.

Pools are a nice amenity, but could also use with some cleaning and updating. The beach here is amazing- wide, clean, not crowded.

The bed was comfortable and it was close to where I needed to be. The carpet was soaked when I arrived. The hotel was hosting a salsa competition that went on until 4am. There were also middle school and high school wrestling participants who were unsupervised swimming and running around the halls past midnight. Adults were drinking out of cases of beer on the first floor stairway and the place smelled like pot. The staff at the bar were overwhelmed with the number of people who were there. Nice staff- not enough of them to offer good service.

The room was better than expected although the kitchenette was very old. Only bad thing was there was NO hot water the entire time.. it got att he most lukewarm… those were some icy showers.

If you’re staying in a suite know you are nowhere near the ocean but in a separate building above the parking garage. Rooms are turned over quick without real cleaning. Toothpaste spit on the shower curtain (very large glob), grass on the floor, and surfaces sticky throughout! Would not stay here again, which is a shame because it is located in a very nice area of the beach.

Everything else was bad, the property is in disrepair and absolutely filthy... Balcony door did not properly close, causing cold air bleeding through all night, when turning on the heat to correct - the smell of 30 years of smoke is overwhelming. Shower fixture would not shut off fully.. resulting in an endless pinging as drips hit the metal drain cover. The bathroom door itself was off it's floor guide, meaning it did not fully close and just flopped around. We left early, it was truely one of the worst stays possible.

Stayed in the Jr. Executive Suite and loved the additional space the room offered. There are few photos but the 2nd floor suite (there are only 2 but the 2nd floor is the one I stayed in) has 2 separate balconies, ocean view, party over patio area, view is basically dead center of hotel with panoramic views of ocean. Saw dolphins both days we stayed! We actually brought a very large Queen size air mattress and were able to have “2” beds (the King) plus the air mattress in addition to the queen size sleeper sofa. Easily fit 4 adults, 1 child, and a service animal. The are 2 mini fridges so that was great, a kitchen sink, microwave, coffee maker, we brought a small Keurig and shopped at the nearby Food Lion. The hotel is located north of the boardwalk and the main VA beach areas that are very congested. Quiet and peaceful are the only words to describe the area! I have stayed here more times than I can count and this is the first time in the suite. The indoor pool is heated, very nice, and the hot tub is HOT! The outdoor pool was open but too cold to review. I did watch all pool areas get full attention by staff both days I stayed. Very clean! Didn’t visit the restaurant on site but it was busy and the menu prices weren’t bad and they were pretty busy for dinner. All in all I highly recommend this hotel and the Jr suite!

The bathroom was very worn down. They need to update the a/c window units. It was cool at night during the week. The ocean view was really spectacular! It was beautiful when the sun went down. It was hot during the day. They do have a bar called Surfside Grille. I was impressed with the bartender. The margarita was really good. The seafood chowder was so fresh. I was very happy with my meal. They had a live rock band outside for one night. Luckily they didn’t play too long. The price is good for an old beachside hotel. It’s very quiet at night. It is a 20 minute walk to the main boardwalk area. I did get DoorDash for food delivery. The Lynnhaven mall is a 25 minute drive. I recommend The Whiskey Kitchen by the Regal theater. Also Beignets and Brew coffee shop is excellent!!!

Wonderful stay. Very nice outdoor and indoor pool. Lovely staff. The location is perfect- it’s a close drive to the boardwalk , but far enough away from the chaos . There’s also a nice state park within walking distance for hiking.

I had a good stay at this hotel. I reserved a beach front room with a view and balcony. the room was clean and the view was fantastic. My room was on the 12th floor so that made the view even better. I felt safe with the double locks on the door. It was just steps to the ocean beach, and the indoor pool was a favorite of my grandson's. A couple of things I would recommend to the owners. You would save money if you put screen doors on the sliding doors. I had to shut the doors at night so as not to get any critters in the room. That meant I had to turn on the AC when there was nice ocean breeze I would have preferred. Small matter but still. Also, someone had a drone they were flying and two nights in a row they came right up to my balcony and hovered there or flew very slowly by. This is an invasion of my privacy and if I had stayed another night I would have reported it. It came from the house to the right of the hotel as you face the ocean. This should not be happening. Otherwise, everything was very good.

This hotel is located in the more residential North End of Virginia Beach. Quiet and peaceful. Beachfront is very wide with plenty of sand and the view is beautiful. Dolphins, seabirds, ships coming in and out of the port cross the horizon.

We enjoyed our stay at the Wyndham. The oceanfront room was just what we expected. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was clean. It's about a 5 minute drive from the main beach activities but the quiet was just what we wanted. We'd stay there again.

The lock to the room door was always giving trouble. Even after the battery was changed it was still problematic. The Surf Grille and band were very entertaining. Went for the chess tournament and would do so again.

Well I would of left a great review but.. my son went to take a shower at 730 and I went to the pool. I was at the pool till 9 and my son didn't come down and he wanted to swim really bad. Went to check on him. The door to the bathroom got stuck and he was trapped in the bathroom till 9pm missed dinner because they closed at 9. He only had 45 with the pool. They guy came and got the door opened but it was left open all night. Two women in a room with a 17 year boy. Didn't offer to fix or move rooms. I asked to speak to a manager the next morning, no manager was there. Left my number because im 10 hours away. It's been days and no phone call. I'll definitely visit Virginia Beach again I'm probably stayed here again if some kind of solution was made or even a phone call. I'm a manager and you want your guests to come back this did not help for me to stay again.

I really like this Hotel and would probably stay here again. I really like the location as well. However, it could really use an upgrade and the king size oceanfront room was rather small.

It was overall a great stay. We got there early, and we were able to get early check in. We stayed in the jacuzzi suite, and it was perfect. The view was great, the bed was really comfortable, and great water pressure in the shower.

My bed was dirty had to make them clean it when I got there They gave me so many dirty blankets before they found a clean one

It’s literally right in the beach the prettiest views. The pool being open til 10pm was a plus. Room wasn’t 100% clean, found old bandaids in the bed on arrival and stained sheets.

If your looking for a budget place to stay that has an indoor pool, then this will meet the needs. If you are looking for something middle- to higher-quality, this will not meet your needs.

They advertise continental breakfast, but you pay for breakfast at hotel restaurant. The pool was heated but small. The hot tub was wonderful but very difficult to enter and exit, needs handrail.

It wasn't the room I booked. They would not refund me not even a little bit. I went down the street to the holiday inn and thankfully they had one room left. So a waste of money never again!

We just went to the beach. Then I go back and I was told that it would be at 2 pm, so I then go back to the beach and return after 2pm and was told that because housekeeping was behind I could check in until 3 pm. I didn’t get into the room until after 3pm which was an entire day that I didn’t have access to the room but got charged for it. That’s unacceptable.

Holes in bath towels, grime, stains, wallpaper peeling-mold underneath, baseboards falling off, windows you can barely see out of because the glass was so dirty, the pool was green and moldy, exposed rusty metal in the crumbling cement balcony floor, broken, wobbly toilet, cockroaches in the hallways. I hate giving negative reviews but it was pretty bad.

I was very surprised to see front desk staff dressed too casually. They should look a bit more professional. Had brunch on Saturday morning in the restaurant, and our waitress was not at all attentive, and looked like she hadn’t washed her hair in quite some time. She also kept touching her hair, which I didn’t appreciate since she was serving our table.

The hotel is extremely outdated. The website needs to do a better job of communicating the condition of the rooms/hotel.

My kids and I have stayed here several times and enjoyed it so decided to come back.  Its not been comfortable since we got here. The parking lot had construction everywhere, There are no lights in the hallways, at the entrance, nor outside the elevator, the jacuzzi/pool was dirty, the gym was closed we were looking forward to getting our workouts in while here, cant call the front desk because The phones do not work, and the tables in the room were dirty i had to wipe them down. Theres also an electrical socket just hanging out of the wall by the sink and microwave.  We came a long way and I’ve already paid in full for two nights and im very disappointed.  Dont even know if ill be able to sleep tonight.   Thank you for your time.

3 elevators in the main tower. 2 were down and the last down 85% of the time. I was on the 18th floor, bugs in the room, reported and not taken care of. Broken chair with duct tape and no spare pillows for the spare bed. This should not be a Wyndham.

The staff was fine. But our room with a balcony has been neglected to say the least. It was in the worse shape of any room I have ever stayed in. It was clean, but cabinets were coming off, screws haphazardly tempted to hold it on. Excessive rust on shower hanger brackets. The bathroom sink lower shelf looked like it had been chewed on by a junkyard dog. It really was kind of amazing that they would rent a room out like this.

I’m not sure WHAT had stayed in our room prior to us but whatever it was had mine and my 7 year olds allergies HORRIBLE. We suffered the entire stay sneezing and stuffiness. It was when we left that realized it was the room that had us sick. So maybe cleaning more deeply after animal stays should be enforced for the sake of your patrons with certain allergies.

Couldnt get in our room , maintenance came and found batteries dead in card reader,over half the channels on the list for tv didnt get signal ,maintenance came found loose cable wire ,when i called front desk for these issues she was extremely rude and very unprofessional, the door to the balcon is wornout doesnt want to open or close hardly other than that everything and everyone else was great ,but whooever was at front desk that night had a terrible attitude and ive stayed here before several times and attended new years ,she is not helping yalls business at all!

The staff was great and the building overall was nice. Unfortunately I ended up getting a nasty room that had blood and urine stains on the bed. After I saw a few roaches, I called the front desk and they were quick and polite while changing my room which was much nicer. The whole roach encounter could have been from the balcony door not being closed all the way because I can't imagine that place having an infestation.

Room was in overall good condition. We did not have a "Do Not Disturb" sign to use this time. Ice maker on our level was not working although I did find one on the first floor. Water pressure was low in the sink. Not necessarily the hotels fault, but the guests above us were very loud and rowdy after midnight and into the morning. They were on the 10th floor.

Water pressure in the bathroom barely allowed me to shower. It took 15 seconds to fill up a 10 oz glass of water! The sink by the microwave had excellent pressure. The cleaners did not replace the coffee pkgs, or cups or towels. I had 2 towels the second day instead of 4. I had to go to the front desk to get coffee cups and coffee pkgs for the second morning.

Nice location, good price, nice view, comfy beds. But no hairdryer, everything seemed rather worn down and in need of a refresh.

The staff was dressed very casually in their personal clothes. I asked for a wake-up call and never got it, so that was a problem for the meeting that I had to attend. Nothing special or note-worthy about this hotel at all.

Ocean was visible. We came while it was raining so no cute sunrises. Staff moved my room due to a loud party room. 2nd room was way better but the kid screaming every 30 minutes in the hall made it hard to sleep. Staff was great! Clean rooms!

The restaurant food was very good. All staff were very friendly. Ocean view was excellent. The property is very old. The pool & hot tub was dirty, dark, & had algae. In our room I found trash on the floor under the bed ruffle that wasn’t ours. The carpet was torn & dirty. The shower had soap scum & mildew between the cracks of the tile. I won’t stay there again.

We were placed in a room above the entrance on the second floor where people were smoking cigarettes and we wanted a non-smoking smoking room which made the room smell bad. It was very noisy. We were told we could not get another room because we had a dog that was not true they end up moving us to a better room on the 5th floor and it did smell better

Rooms were a little dated and need some care, the hallway smelled like mildew due to people walking down the hallway wet from swimming. Overall, this location is quiet and clean.

Front desk staff Dawn was excellent. Structure itself is run down with exterior concrete wall actually separating from structure on balcony. Heavy rust from balconies where pool is. Cleaning staff were all very rude, unfriendly, one male worker even entered the elevator and was cursing his female coworker. They always avoided eye contact, brought large dirty trash bins on elevator while I was on it and were not courteous. Disappointed.

we had to wait 30 minutes to get into the room the keys would not open the door. My wife is 75 years old and i am 72 the bath room ahd a tub that we had to climb over to take a shower. Also there was a roach in the shower.

Place wasn’t a gold star hotel, but was worth while.

They view was great, The mattresses were too soft and worn out. The carpet was very dirty and needed steam cleaned badly, wore white socks and the bottoms were black in no time. 16th floor upon exiting the elevator there is a horrendous curl your nose smell coming from that area like mold or mildew. Glad it was not in our room, Hot water was not available in the showers only just warm enough to wash in. I stayed at this hotel 20 years ago and it was a great experience, its time for an upgrade guys

My husband and I loved the whirlpool tub in our room! Our stay was wonderful will be booking again next year for our trip.

The room was clean when we arrived. The carpet needed to be replaced as it was worn to the floor in some areas. Paid an extra fee to have our 20 lb dog with us and because we had a dog, housekeeping would not touch the room. We could get clean towels at the registration desk and trash cans were near the elevators to dump our trash. Not happy with what we paid to stay there and having to do things for ourselves. Also there is no complimentary breakfast- you can eat at the hotel cafe for $22 (adult) $16(child). On the positive side - the employees were polite.

Older property in need of a facelift. Staff is very courteous and helpful but the facility leaves a bit to be desired. I wasn’t told but they charge a “resort” fee per day and I was like what resort? It’s a run down hotel.

When we arrived in our room the bathroom was filthy, I called and told them and someone was there pretty quick to clean it. The overall cleanliness of the whole place could be better. It is a beautiful location on the beach.

The room was very small and and the bathroom was even smaller and cramped. The balcony sliding door was hard to open and the windows were very dirty. The wifi network was unsecured, was non-existent most of the time, was very unreliable, it consistently disconnected from the network. The property itself appeared aged & outdated, and the property configuration is not welcoming. There wasn't any morning buffet. The view of the beach was good. The property location was a bit further away from the VA Beach boardwalk than I expected. The customer parking was extremely tight and not a smooth nor convieniant.

The hotel room was not very clean and it was dated. It looks better from the outside but it does the job. The location and access to the beach are the major selling points. It is a great location if you want to be away from the crowds.

Clean Room, very nice staff, thought I had an oceanfront but had ocean view. I was disappointed in the bathroom and the balcony. The bathroom had no counter space to put toiletries and the toilet was child size and too low. The balcony was big enough for 1 person comfortably and it was 2 of us. Overall it was okay.

Barely handicap accessible, door was hard for my handicap mom to open to her room and her “handicap accessible bathroom” had a tub so she couldn’t just wheel into her shower. Elevators were practically useless so if you’re on a high floor good luck. They weren’t very nice to help us with any issues we had, the restaurant is very overpriced and the food is not good for the money, they also had us wait a whole hour before we hit our food and didn’t let us know it would be such a long wait. Only told us they were busy after 40 minutes and said it was because there was a bigger party than us and there was only about 13 people in there altogether. Also the website claimed the breakfast would be $10 for kids and $12 for adults, which is a complete lie. Great spot to see the ocean and the beach isn’t over crowded because it’s away from the main tourist spots but then you have to drive to the food and shops and try to find parking every time. Honestly don’t recommend if you plan on going places besides the beach.

The room was nice and clean. The bed was very comfortable with a beautiful view of the ocean. Very quiet besides the one night the restaurant at the hotel had a live bad but it was over at 8pm so nothing really to complain about there. Very pet friendly $25 per pet per day. It's not close to the boardwalk so it was like having your own private beach surrounded by residential property. I was very happy with my stay I would definitely stay here again.

I thought that this was ocean front up in the resort area. I was totaled shocked when we got to the hotel. It was very clean, beautiful room, staff were very nice and friendly. Just wasn't what we wanted, only stayed 1 night.

I would not recommend for anyone to stay at Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront, the whole hotel is very dirty, for what they charge can't they afford to clean the hotel. DIRTY NASTY RUDE DIRTY DIRTY.

Neg.- additional fees upon arrival. $80/room and $100 animal fee. Pool area could use some care or renovation. No cigars(smoking) even on the balcony.

This protery was extremely dirty and unkept. the light in the bathroom was rusted out. The tube had a dirt ring around it. Hair and dirt from the preveous guest stay. Sticky fingerprints all over the balcony door, trash behind the dresser. Big holes in the hallway floor and ceiling, pool was grungy looking. All the money people pay for the room it is clear that Wyndham is not puttig any of that into the maintainace and upkeep of the property. I called the frontdesk to ask for someone to clean the bathroom when we checked in he said he would send some one up they never came. When I told him no one came his attitude was like oh well, I told them and there was nothing he can do. I worked in the hotel industry for over 10 years and this was one of the worst run and kept hotels I have ever stayed in. I will NEVER make the mistake of staying there again. Expedia should be ashamed for rating this hotel even a 7.6. I rate it on the level of a low budget Motel. I hope this helps someone when making there decision to stay here. the only Con was that it was on the beach BUT miles from the board walk or restaurants.

I thought not having a continental breakfast was a let down. But definitely not as bad as no discount to the restaurant in hotel. $22.00 for a breakfast buffet is ridiculous. Hotel was basic with no extra frill's. They no longer leave bags in room for dirty clothes. 3 elevators in hotel, but middle one only seemed to work, even when heavy traffic to your room.

The good thing of this property is close to the beach, 10 to 15 minutes from the boardwalk, and has a free parking. The bad thing that this hotel is old, an lots of thing that need to be fixed. During our stayed with our son and his family (4 small grandchildren); we had 2 bedrooms that can fix 8 people. I & my husband arrive to the hotel 2 days early than my son & his family. In the second day, in the master bedroom, the bedframe bar are sticking out of the frame, and the housekeeper has covered up by the bed skirts, my left leg were scratch by the metal frame and bleeding all over my slipper. My husband came to help me and he scratched himself by the same metal bar of bedframe as well. We went to the office to report, and they sent out someone to come to cut the metal bar from the bedframe before my grandchildren arrived. Yes, we had a good time with my grandchildren on the beach. If we want to come back and stay in this hotel again, no!

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed. Upon arrival 1st room door was stuck couldn’t open unless you used excessive force. They changed the room their was flies and I requested exterminator which they never sent. There was water bugs and other bugs in the room. Pool filthy. The manager was extremely rude. Wyndham is a reputable hotel and I was extremely disappointed with what I saw. It was to the point I became overwhelmed.
