Shower curtain rod was falling off wall. It may appear to be petty, but I can spend my money elsewhere for the same price and get those simple things.

We’re not overly impressed with this hotel. We stayed about four hours of the four hours two of them were at the pool, which was disgusting and cloudy. The room itself had bugs. Not sure what kind. The floor had not been vacuumed and the shower had absolutely not been cleaned. still hair in it

The views & location were great. I thought the beds were comfortable. Our water pressure in the shower wasn’t ideal but other than that we were very satisfied with our stay!

Location the scene of the ocean from balcony everything. Shower could have had a little more pressure. The toilet handle had to be held down for it to flush. But not a big deal.

Every staff member that we encountered was very friendly & helpful. The rooms were clean, beds were comfy & you couldn’t hear anything through the walls which was fantastic. Very convenient to a lot of restaurants & bars & shops.

The front desk clerk was impeccable, help with information i needed to get around and she gave me helpful information.

Very close to a lot on the boardwalk & short walking distance to the beach. Super friendly & accommodating staff. Bed was very comfortable. The rooms need to be updated. TV wasn’t great quality. The toilet in our room was extremely finicky, we thought it was broken (had to hold the handle down for 10+ seconds for it to flush). The tiles in the bathroom look like they were just shoved together (it looked messy/the grout was extremely messed up) & there was black mold on the ceiling in our room (room 304). Balcony was also dirty when we arrived (trash from previous travelers was left out there).

Toilet did not flush easily, pillows were terrible, mattress needs to be replaced, restaurant noise below is disruptive and the pool is not heated in June and too cold to use. Again staff Is lovely and over all location is nice but that’s the only positive. Also note only one car parks free per room.

The room was clean. Staff friendly. Beach view amazing and beautiful. Air conditioner was working very well. But we left open balcony just to listen ocean.

My stay at Surfbreak was great the balcony view to the ocean is splendid. My only concern the mattress and pilows is not firm enough, the room was cleaned and the staff very friendly especially Martiana. Breakfast is not provided however they provide fruits and drinks such as hot tea, water, coffee and hot chocolate. Acces to restaurants and other eatery is within walking distance or a few minutes drive.

While the room was definitely needing some TLC and repair - it was clean. The view was great, pool was clean and staff was overall friendly. For the price, it was a great stay with no issues.

We have stayed here a number of times. We will be returning here in the future. They have taken care of us everytime. If there was anything thing wrong they have went up and beyond to take take of it.

What breakfast? Last year when we stayed, there were muffins and fruit. This time we were told your shipment had not come in. We were there for two days before bananas and small tangerines came in. The bottled water was a nice touch. Go back to at least having muffins, along with fruit. We are considering a location with continental breakfast.

Everything was great except the parking. It did not meet ADA requirements for the number of handicap parking spots. Most of the parking was two blocks away.

Wouldn’t stay here agin, they didn’t come clean the room after the first night, I asked them too, but no one came. Trash needed to be picked up, we needed the beds changed, more towels. More toilet paper, ridiculous.

Great location, room was good size and clean. Air conditioner was so loud sounded like it had a muffler backfiring when it turned off. Water in the shower, barely got warm and the toilet struggled to flush completely. Coming into the front door and going down the awkward hall to go up the elevator seemed strange like it was an after thought to build . The back door coming in from the beach and pool was never locked. We stayed the night to go to the Pungo Truck Show and Tidewater Comicon. Terrific location with lots of food and libations and cute stores across the street.

The view of the beach was great. The AC worked well. Staff were very nice. Room was clean. All in all i enjoyed my stay.

The only issue we have is that there was a huge road race with 2K runners on Saturday (the day we had to be out by 8:30 a.m. to go out to the airport). No one at the front desk told us that the roads would close at 7:30 a.m. Luckily, I asked a police officer who verified that the roads would close at 7:30. We threw out suitcases in the car and were literally the last car to leave the area.

The tv was either broken or very cheap. It was too small for the room and sounded like tin cans connected with string. The room was pretty clean but definitely worn down. MDF furniture had missing chunks, the paint job in the room and hallways looked like “landlord special” (painted over hardware, etc) and it smelled a little musty-don’t know why any beach hotel would still use carpet. Curtains were dirty at the bottom and broken at the top. Water pressure in yhe shower was a trickle and the toilet struggled to flush. I wouldn’t #2 in there lol The AC was amazing though! View was spectacular. If you’re on a budget, it’s fine if you’re able to spend two or 300 extra I would look elsewhere.

Bar Resturant on site good bar food(not opened for breakfast though) parking was offsite , down the road a short walk .There was a small amount of parking at hotel but not many. Overall good for the price but needed some upgrades for sure

Thomas Gigioli was not a pleasant man. Treated the staff poorly in front of me and seemed put off when I asked him to refill the morning coffee dispenser . He REALLY did not like that I asked him for something, which bothered me VERY much. Any encounter like that when I've spent my HARD-EARNED money for a getaway puts a damper on my mood.

Our trip was for a week. Probably would do something different for a longer stay in the future. But if you plan a quick weekend trip it’s okay. Pool was closed. And the hotel does not offer much of anything extra. You have to park a couple blocks away. And if there is an event you can’t pull your car close to load your luggage. Not a horrible place. Staff was friendly. But didn’t stand out as somewhere I’d stay again.

This hotel stay was good. It is not the newest or nicest hotel but it was good for a 2 night oceanfront stay. The room was clean, and the balcony was perfect. The restaurant attached has amazing food. The check in, check out process is smooth and the front desk staff are very helpful and friendly. You do have to park around the corner, however it’s free and it’s not a far walk at all.

Room could've been cleaner & more updated furniture. Ice machine location wasn't convenient. Parking was terrible since it was often a book away to get to our car in nasty weather.

We had oceanfront view but there was a roof right below us with loud fans so we couldn’t really listen to the ocean.

The only thing I wish they offered was a Continental style breakfast. They did offer fruit, coffee & tea.....but that was it.

The stay was wonderful the room was clean the staff was friendly and the view was beautiful. I only had 2 small things that should be easy fixes on room 701. The one is tension on the room door needs adjusted so it closes easily with out pushing or pulling it closed. The second is the hinges on bathroom door need adjustment so that the bathroom door closes when someone is doing a number 2. The restaurant on your property has several young men on staff that are very green and no obvious restaurant experience, Being a tourist town that is common is low scale restaurants so no biggie for that. Yes my wife and I look forward to returning in the future to your property and I have no problems recommending your hotel. Thank you

We stay here every year for spring break but this year was our last! The pool is never open & you would think the price we pay for the room, they offer free breakfast. Staff is cool, & rooms are clean. The balcony was a tad bit dirty.

The staff was amazing from check-in, maintenance (shower handle broken), extra towels to checkout. Restaurants and shopping were all close to hotel, even bike and beach rentals. Virginia Beach Coffee was a favorite, just across the street diagonally, owners and dog Dixie made the morning better!

The property was very clean When entering in the room at night there’s no switch to turn the lights on. You have to turn the little lamps on by the bed which is not much lighting and also the bathroom lights are very dimmed and on my floor room 312 you really couldn’t enjoy the view of the beach because the big air-conditioned unit is in the way but other than that it was it was pretty chill there it was comfortable nice and pleasant. oh, and be careful because the little mini refrigerator will fall out of the the wall up under the cabinet.

We were there for a run weekend and it was very busy. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfy. Natalie at the front desk was very welcoming and lovely. This is not a fancy property but the rooms were clean, the balconies over look the ocean and we were only a mile from the start.

Hotel was clean. The outside is very dated and the windows on the front were dirty. The staff was very nice. Really no amenities to talk about. No breakfast and the coffee station was pretty basic. I would stay again.

They accommodated my last minute room request after my previous booking was canceled at the last minute. Everything was great, it’s just expensive compared to rooms of similar quality in the area. There’s limited parking at the hotel so I had to park 2 streets away in their overflow lot.

For the price this was exactly what we expected. Checkin was simple and parking is about a block away. Our room was over the “club” but did not affect us so sound barriers were sufficient. We enjoyed the stay and in a great location! No complaints at all.

There were ants and flys in my room and multiple things that were broken and run down. For the rate I paid I had a higher expectation of how my room would be. The parking being at another location when arriving was very confusing there was nowhere to park on arrival and I had to run in to find out where I had to go.

Clean, friendly front desk staff, next to boardwalk, surrounded by a variety of restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Easy parking, bottled water provided, easy walk to and from shopping areas. Very central. Ocean front room was convenient. Calypso bar and grill on site. I’d go back. I got a good price via using Expedia to book. I had a nice 4 days of food fun and festivities.

Nice housekeeping

The heat didn’t work in the room. Front desk clerk was never at the desk. Called all day. The parking is way down the street, so when we left at midnight due to the heat not working we had to walk down the street.

The location was seafront so perfect for those wanting this. Nowhere to grab breakfast in the hotel but eateries surrounding. The room smelt of cigarette smoke and the insect shield on the balcony door fell off and hit my daughter on the head. It’s light so luckily didn’t cause injury!

The one redeeming factor for this hotel was the staff. The person at the front desk (I think her name was Natalie) was awesome with me and she was manning the place by herself at the front desk with a lot of people seeming to check on at the same time. One of the facilities guys (didn’t catch his name) jumped in later in the evening to help. But that was the only good thing to say about the hotel itself (except the room had a great view of the pool deck and ocean) The hotel was loud, we are on the 3rd floor which would have been OK except there was a loud party happening in the bar for St Patrick’s day which didn’t end until 01:35. Other guests of the hotel were obnoxious and loud well into the late night, early morning. Seems this hotel is more suited for a party hotel than a getaway and relax hotel. If that’s your thing, you will enjoy it I’m sure. I won’t be staying there again. One of the dumpier “resorts” in Virginia Beach.

Clean room and shops close

We had a room on the 7th floor right on the boardwalk with a perfect view of the ocean. The ice and vending machines were directly across from our room and they have a nice club/restaurant on the ground floor that leads right out to the boardwalk. The only downside is the parking is around the block but if you are planning on being at the beach all day, it probably won't be of any concern. I would stay here again if I had the opportunity.

Great views near mostly everything. The parking lot around the corner from the place. Check in area was tiny and got congested. I didn’t like I had to park and walk to the hotel.

Location, pleasant staff and reasonably clean and organized I had no hot water for my shower or sink for 3 days and that’s even after running the water for 10-15 min. And the beds had a dip in the middle. I had to sleep at an angle just to feel someone comfortable. Quality sleepy was not obtained during my tenured which made for a sleepy morning

I had a great stay and truly enjoyed everything. The property was clean, safe, and quiet, and the location was very convenient. Easy parking, walkable areas, and nearby shopping made it even better. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Actually, we (2 other couples besides us) got a call a few days before and were told that they were CLOSING during our stay! However, they upgraded our accommodations to the Hampton Inn South. Which is a nicer hotel right next door. The downside was we didn’t get a king bed, instead we were given 2 queen beds, not a big deal unless you are a larger person (my wife and I are both small). Our group likes Calypso’s Grill which is connected to the Surfbreak…hence our original choice. But I think the Hampton Inn will have new customers.

They gave me the wrong room when I booked for a king but adjusted that. Then there was no hot water. Lukewarm at best.

Beautiful views, close to everything. Dismal parking. Needed to walk block and a half. Room needed a few repairs, (bathroom), cabinet. Tv was wonky to start. Spinning wheel of death for a long time., but it worked. Help very pleasant and helpful.

This is property has a great hotel staff...we interacted with both Matthew and Thomas and both were very accomodating. We got the room off season for just over $100 and had an amazing oceanview room. Yes, it is a bit dated but the room was clean, had a fridge and everything worked fine.

Matt thank you so much for making sure I got a parking spot in front of the hotel on my last night. I had a very early flight the next morning and was concerned about being a female walking alone to the designated hotel parking lot at 4:45am. Matt you are the best!

I had no hot water during my shower after traveling 5 hrs walking around in evening I tried to shower at 11pm and no hot water!! Already they told me they were short staff and couldn’t accommodate my anniversary asked for a high rise king room got a 2nd floor due to checking. I can’t sit on my balcony to smoke e cig I had to walk to my car across the street not well lit at all there were people hanging out around parking lot did not feel safe. We left the next morning and didn’t stay our trip.

Front desk clerk was super friendly and funny! The room was very clean. Some of the furniture needs to be replaced. The carpet throughout the hotel does need some shampooing. I can imagine that it is a full time job trying to keep that clean with all of the beach traffic. Other than that, I had a great stay and Will definitely be staying here when I come to VA beach.

Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful! Enjoyed our time and definitely had a beautiful view of the ocean. My family and I could not stay off of the balcony. Cleanliness of the room was overall good. Found random strays of hair here and there, could’ve been left while cleaning. Did not love the parking situation, but wasn’t terrible.

Even from our ground floor room, we could see the ocean. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Staff was friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

The hotel seems kind of old and not very well maintained. The cleaning could be better — there are hairs all over the bathroom and room floors. Also, the pool doesn’t look very inviting.

Let me begin by saying all staff I interacted with were very friendly! But, the building and accommodations are in disrepair. Rooms were barely acceptable for cleanliness at check in, and in severe need of repair and upgrading. Sink and tub slow draining. Mold on bathroom ceiling. Dirt in the corners. My room wasn’t cleaned from the time we checked in to out (Friday-Monday) and I had to ask for clean towels. Housekeeping had gone for the day when I asked for the room to be cleaned at 3:30 on Sunday. I was shocked it was still dirty when we returned from our day out. Hallways were gross and untidy. Only 1 elevator worked for both patrons and staff the entire weekend. It took 15 minutes sometimes to retrieve it. Being a busy weekend with the air show in town, not wanting to lose my money already paid for the room, and not wanting to make the very friendly staff feel bad, I chose to stay the duration when I wanted to check out the first day. Lucky for us, we had great weather to not force us to spend more time in the room.

First, the AC in my room did not go below 70. When I asked the front desk about this, I was immediately told that that was correct and there was no changing it. I thought this was odd considering my family in the room right next door could turn their AC down well past 70.... Since the front desk attendant was so adamant that there was nothing to be done about it, I just dealt with a warm, uncomfortable room. The remote for my TV did not work. However, the service upon addressing this issue was exceptional! I told the attendant at the front desk and he immediately gave me a new properly working remote. Third, while my room was clean, some of the furniture was damaged, consequently not very pleasing to look at. The front of the cabinet door where the mini fridge apparently suffered water damage at some point, leading to the bottom to be stained and rotted.... This was definitely not a welcoming site and I also feel like it could potentially lead to unfair charges if management isn't aware of it. 4th, again, I was very pleased with the gentleman at the desk in the evening. Upon mentioning the AC issue again, he immediately offered to call the maintenance person. Unfortunately I was away from the hotel most of the day and missed the maintenance person, but the man at the front desk went out of his way to still make sure I was comfortable by offering me the box fan that was in the lobby. This was much appreciated and a life saver!

The hotel could use updating. Some things appeared newer but they are mixed in with outdated things or things in disrepair. For example, our balcony looked out at HVAC units and the roof. Our room AC made a horribly loud rattle noise periodically that woke me up every time. The toilet didn’t flush well. The fridge wasn’t cold and the usb charging ports didn’t work. Also, out of four times I went to get coffee in the hotel lobby, only one time was there actually coffee available. It was an okay stay, but I will look for someplace different next year. Staff was friendly, but not too eager to please.

The property is older but they do an excellent job at keeping it clean and trying to keep it updated. Kept having issues with my room card key and had to get it reloaded several times. Only one elevator was working so there was usually a wait to try to get to the eighth floor. The staff were super friendly and helpful. However, the surrounding area felt unsafe and I do not plan to return. But no fault of the facility

The room constantly felt muggy and clammy. The carpet felt damp because of it and out clothes never dried, they were continuously damp. The pillows were squares, not even pillow sizes.

The location was in a awesome location. You get the most bang for your buck here.

The staff was very nice and pleasant. We did not have hot water when we first got there, but the staff responded quickly and got that fixed. The sofa bed did not work properly even after maintenance worked on it. The room was very spacious and we loved that. The only real negative was the parking. There wasn’t enough parking at the facility and we are all handicapped and had to park about 2 blocks away. It was pouring rain when we got there and we were soaked from head to toe.

The hotel in itself was good, but if you have any kind of disability, do not stay here. First, we arrived in torrential rain, which could not be avoided, but there was only two ada accessible parking spaces. Everytime we left the hotel our car was 2 blocks away. Not good for our ailing arthritic bodies

Natalie @ the front desk was awesome! Great customer service, and attention to details. However, upon a closer inspection of the room and the overall look of the hotel, I was not happy at all. In my room The carpet was not vacuumed, had big stains, & was sticky. The AC unit made a loud noise that sounded like a plane, landing, or taking off. I put the TV volume on 30 and still couldn’t hear over the AC! The AC had black dust balls coming out of it onto the second bed. The overall air quality in the room felt very dusty with a bad Underlying scent. The toilet did not want to flush. The sink was clogged and had black stuff coming up out the sink. The shower had low water pressure and the lighting in the bathroom was uncommonly dim? The toiletries offered were of the lowest & poorest quality like “water”? They were awful!!! On top of the noisy a/c the beds are not comfortable and it felt as if the mattress had no filler (hollow) One of the beds had sand on & in it. Paint was chipping from the door in the entryway of the room and was so narrow. Overall this hotel needs a huge renovation. I won’t be returning nor Will I recommend that anyone else stay here if you’re looking for a decent quality hotel this one is not “even” that go elsewhere. Trust me. I was supposed to stay 2 nights and ended up leaving immediately the next day. That’s how bad it was …UGH…never again.

Place was great. Staff wonderful. The view amazing. The room needs a deep cleaning though. Stains on couch, chair. Bathroom tub needed extra cleaning also and refrigerator area looked a bit rough. Beds were comfy.

I found the hotel clean with nice employees. I especially loved the 24/7 coffee. An employee even offered to make new coffee for me as it was late in the evening! My room had a great view and I slept with the slider open to listen to the calming waves. A great getaway!

The hotel room was nice, house keeping came everyday to replenish the towels and take care of the trash and I liked that there was a restaurant/bar attached to the building that you could access through the hotel.

The positive side is the room was clean. However the view we paid extra for was obstructed by the roof and ac units of the restaurant. Didn’t have direct access to the beach as we had expected due to the race being set up on the boardwalk right in front of the property which would have been nice to know before booking. Of the two elevators only one worked and was always overflowing so used the stairs every time.

Overall not a property I would stay at again or recommend to anyway else.

Stay was fine for a short weekend getaway. Hotel is older and run down but all rooms have ocean facing balconies. There is a small pool but no where near there size needed for an hotel this size. Easy access to the beach and boardwalk. Our toilet didn’t work and ran all weekend and parking is down the street from the hotel a few blocks which was hard with someone in a wheelchair. We ate at the restaurant on our first night and food service took forever and the food was just so so. Overall not a bad stay but for a little more money you could probably find nicer accommodations.

I never leave reviews but this hotel was AWFUL. Staff at the front desk never smiled and acted like they hated their jobs. They were so cranky and always seemed so bothered when guests went to counter. They would rather watch tv in the lobby and ignore guests. Our balcony at check in was dirty and just overall the entire hotel was dirty. There was BLOOD on our balcony curtains!! There was always an inconvenient wait for the two elevators. Just a gross hotel all around. Will never ever recommend.

Cons: Pool is not heated and pool area is pretty small with not enough loungers or chairs. Downside is that you may not find anywhere to sit, upside is pool area is never very crowded. Water is pretty cold though. Onsite restaurant (although not directly affiliated with the hotel) is not great. Food is average and way overpriced. Along with the mandatory 20% gratuity, I would opt for someplace else. Overall, this place is a good value for the money.

Hotel is nice and has great beach access. Music from the Calypso is too loud in the evening and reverberates in the hotel rooms until midnight.

Brittania at reception has a great customer mindset and was fantastic when we asked to extend our stay, and quickly arranged for a chair to be replaced. We also received text s to confirm everything was ok. The hotel does not have breakfast, though there are complimentary coffee/tea, water bottles and apples & bananas in lobby. Guests have reciprocal rights to use the indoor pool and gym at the Hampton Inn next door. Free parking is one short block away, amusement park just a few blocks further, the outdoor pool was clean and and I saw it has a pool hoist. This hotel is a great value if you want to be on the beach and are not seeking luxury!

Water pressure was horrible. The view of the beach from the balcony was beautiful. However, the ongoing smell of marijuana was incredibly strong around the area. I had to close the balcony door constantly and did so around 2 am when the smell woke me up. I didn’t want my daughter smelling it. So I don’t know if it was being smoked on other balconies or what. When we arrived a bit early the greeting seemed more like an inconvenience and annoyance. We parked down the road in the extra lot went to lunch at Calypso’s. Decent food and nice service. The pool was less than inviting. The price matched the outcome of our stay.
