The location is amazing. I let my teenager walk to local stores in the morning we could see her through the glass from the breakfast table. We could also watch them from a balcony while they went to the beach, and they could play volleyball in front of the room. The breakfast was lousy. The room was small and very uncomfortable. The staff was 50/50. They were rude when we tried to go get seconds from the breakfast area.

Distance to the beach was great. Elevators were down and took a long time to pick us up each time we used and we were on the 5th floor,shower got cold fast, almost got locked out on the balcony finding out that it locks from the outside, the pool wasn't really kid friendly because it started at 4 ft and only went up.

Room carpet was filthy to the point my grandsons sock was black. Hallway carpet not vacuumed the whole time. The elevators was not cleaned in the 4 days the same trash and sand on it for 4 days. Nobody cleans any class windows. The elevators looked like someone spit on the inside doors Cleaning

The view we had was excellent. The room was recently refurbished. Only 1 working elevator, long wait times. The breakfast was a true continental, not a lot of choices for diabetics.

First time staying here. Had many staysin Va beach. The lobby was clean and nicely decorated with lots of seating. There was only one elevator working so that took kind of long waiting for it sometimes. Parking garage only goes to the 5flr so if you are any higher you have to walk or take the elevator from there. The pool looked like a nice area. I would probably stay here again

Location, parking deck, clean updated room. They were able to accommodate my request for early check in and a room on the lower level of hotel. Friendly staff. Plenty of towels for use in room and at pool. Mattress on bed was very hard

I had a good stay. I was there for weekend and everything was fine. The only con was one of the two elevators wasn’t working.

The best part of the property was the location, with balconies facing the beautiful beach and centrally located on Atlantic Avenue. The continental breakfast was appreciated. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

I love how the hotel was close to the beach, easy access to the restaurant, and convenient parking! The parking garage was a little shorter than I expected but we still managed!

Location ! Beautiful beach view ! Close to the pier , restaurants and shops. Was clean and staff were super nice and cool to talk to. Pool hours. Closed at 10 , thought that was early especially if you’re trying to get a night swim after your day. Beds weren’t very comfortable , shower faucet was not very good with pressure and sprayed out of the shower so it made a mess every time. WiFi was terrible

My wife and I stayed at the Sandcastle last September and everything went well At our recent stay in May,the first morning I tried to make coffee but the coffee maker was broken Because it was early no staff was able to get us a new one until housekeeping came in They did bring us a new one as soon as someone got in but to late to have coffee before we went to breakfast The room is dated and the balcony overlooking the beach was very dirty The worst part of our stay was that 2 mornings our room never was cleaned No bed made and no fresh towels When I checked out on our last day I tried to explain this to the person at the checkout desk but she completely ignored me and never even looked at me let alone say she was sorry for our inconvenience I told her that we come to Virginia Beach about once a year from Connecticut and would never be staying at the hotel again All she did was stare down at her computer screen and print out my receipt She couldn’t have cared less If you want clean rooms and friendly service don’t go to the Sandcastle I know we never will again

New rugs in room. Bathroom was clean. Soap and shampoo/conditioner dispensers. Location. I requested a roll away bed and it was in the room on arrival. This was appreciated. Giant roaches in pool area. No hot tub. Outdated halls. Very slow elevators. Lots of different smells in hallway. No streaming services on TV. High price. Very few outlets and 1 was dead.

I just would like to give excellent feedback on all aspects except one thing that if fresh coffee would be available for all guests all day somewhere in the hallway would be fantastic. Stay was great, services were excellent, breakfast was fabulous, front desk staff was exceptional as well. My 3 families will return there again.

My room overlooked the beach which is a BIG plus. The breakfast was okay. The room could use some paint and bathtub upgrades. Not bad for an overnight stay.

This hotel has been outdated for a while. The staff was helpful and the room was clean.

Front desk staff was absolutely amazing. Very kind and accommodating... The only issue I had was the not so kind facial expressions given by the staff working the continental breakfast.. They seemed quite annoyed ( dirty looks)that I had come down and filled up my plate.. but they did not understand was that my three children were sleeping and my husband and I was getting food for them. It wasn't just for me..

I was assigned to Room 914, which probably random a random assignment. It was a nice room, really clean, and had a comfortable bed. Fairly good view. However, getting my suitcase UP THE STAIRS to that particular room was difficult, as I’m a senior citizen (age 80) and have difficulty lifting heavy bags. Luckily, I had help getting my bags down the stairs for check out. Recommend using care when assigning that particular room to the elderly, if that is possible.

Location was beautiful. We were right on the beach with a beautiful view of the board walk and the pier. The neighborhood seemed safe and very family friendly. The restaurant connected had great food. The room was not very clean. We found dirty socks on the floor and dirty cups at the coffee area. The doors would not close all the way without pushing or pulling extremely hard. I'm older and it was very difficult to close the room door and almost impossible to close the bathroom door. I think they may have had new carpet and the doors were too tight to open and close.

Beautiful and in front of the fishing pier! Nothing, everything was exactly like I remember. Beyond perfection.

Parking included fantastic staff! Too close to the crime area of VA as well as party scene. Really old and dingy. Breakfast was lack luster and would not recommend.

We had a side beach view. Room was clean but we found someone’s shorts left on a lampshade. Staff was friendly but told us there was no hot tub but when we walked to the pool there indeed was a hot tub unfortunately it was the next day and we didn’t have time to get it. Breakfast staff was helpful but I was hoping for fresh eggs and more protein options

Beach view was beautiful however room very outdated none of the decor matched, sink was leaking in the bathroom then elevator broke down and i had to walk down 9 flights of stairs only to wale up next morning to construction work being done on entire floor innevery room all hotel furniture from the rooms in the hallway and it continued my last 2 days of vacation which was very disappointing

It’s convenient to all beach front activities. Also right at the pier for good fishing Staff was friendly and polite rooms were clean.

Location to the beach/boardwalk. The bed was also very comfortable. Having onsite parking was great. The room was good, but was not what I had booked. I booked a king suite with a balcony on the ocean side and ended up getting a weird room on the non existent 10th floor that was neither a suite or had a balcony. I had to pay an additional $40 resort fee once I arrived that was not mentioned at booking.

The Hotel was very busy due to many events going on in Virginia Beach. At first I was mistakenly sent to a room that was already occupied. This was quickly, politely and professionally rectified and I was given a different room which turned out to be more convenient for me. Directly across from elevators and on a level with parking where I could easily walk to my car. Having a mini-fridge and microwave is always a plus. The best feature for me, though was having that sweet little balcony facing the ocean. What a tremendous stress reliever! I hope to return to Sandcastle Resort and will recommend it to others. One little request, though: Could you please provide tea bags in the rooms and at the Continental Breakfast for those of us who do not drink coffee? Thank you!

I liked the location as it was right on the beach with a beautiful view. The breakfast was great a few different options of hot or cold food/beverages. The only thing that I did have a complaint about was that the water was lukewarm.

We loved that it was right on the boardwalk/oceanfront and within walking distances of shops and eateries. The rooms were well-maintained and clean. The hotel breakfast was good and the indoor pool was very nice. The staff was friendly and polite. Parking garage was convenient to run in and out of from our floor. The pillows weren’t comfortable and need replacing. Also, not the hotel‘s fault but due to recent increased police presence in the town, many streets were blocked off and not being familiar with the area, it made traveling around by car very difficult at times. The streets that were blocked off for the weekend seemingly changed each day and made for traffic backups.

The laminate floors in my room were very old and cracking along the main walking area, but honestly, it wasn't that big of a deal and I completely enjoyed my stay.

Location and offered breakfast Dated, older and ocean sea air worn. One bed in room was not good but other was fine. Saw a very large cockroach looking bug next to breakfast room in lobby! I stomped on it but glad we were leaving that day and wouldn’t have eaten had I seen it first.

The man who checked us in was not very friendly. I felt uncomfortable with the way he asked for a card to be put on file. I had already paid for the room. When I asked about it he said for damages. So the first thing I did in the room was take pictures of the entire room and then I took pictures before I checked out.

Staff were awesome. View was awesome. Location was really good. Breakfast was barely adequate, with very few options for diabetics. We chose to eat breakfast in town the 2nd day. On the bright side, we really liked the staff, even in the breakfast room. They were to a person happy, bright, and helpful.

Only complait would be that the hardwood floors had a little more sand on them then you would think there'd be if it was swept well. Otherwise, clean place, comfy bed, right on the beach. Would go back again in the future.

The hallway, carpets and elevator were not clean at all. The breakfast area was super small and tight for a hotel that size. The front desk staff was not super helpful at all. The check in process was not easy for us. Also, the room didn’t have a sliding glass balcony door.

Room was great, with an amazing view of the ocean. Breakfast was decent, wide variety of options. The indoor pool was nice, deeper than expected. There is a small kiddie pool for small children. Garage parking. A great value for the price I paid.

AC didn’t work the pillows are the worse. Floor was dirty

For future guess please be careful as there was a shooting with multiple victims in front of the resort. Please be aware of your surroundings

Had a great stay with my family at this location. Will return for sure. The walk to the beach was beautiful and looking at the sunrise/sunsetfrom the balcony was absolutely incredible.

The breakfast was ok. When we were there, it was crowded. A nicer protein option would be welcome. The main protein was to microwave an egg & cheese fold over.

Very nice beach view!! The room was decent but the toliet kept running and would not flush at times. Also there was a lot of hair left in the bathroom when we entered. Other than that it was a good room for the price. If the rate stays I possibly would return again

Everything was good at this hotel. The bartender was awesome. The only thing was the pool was a little cold for My Husband and myself so we could not go swimming at the indoor pool. Everything else was fine.

Toilet in first room (701) wouldn’t flush so we were moved to another room(501). Blanket in room 601 had brown stuff all over it. When we went to take showers in room 501 there was hair all in the bathtub. When I spoke to desk staff I was told to request a partial refund and this request has not been taken care.

the pic shows what looks like a hot tub they know it looks like a hot tub but they told us at check in NO its a kids pool everyone thinks its a hot tub. False advertising, then times for pool are terrible. Back stair case is scary.

The standouts were the kindness of the staff, the enjoyment of the Pool, the View from the balcony of the room. What was just okay was the room itself. What needs improvement was the breakfast buffet.

Overall the Hotel was okay. One of the elevators was out of service and the shower was low and lacked pressure and lacked hot water. overall the view was amazing from the hotel room, spacious, clean, convenient to shopping and stores and right on the beach. Great location overall and good food restaurants on location with amazing service. Check in was a breeze and the guy at the front desk was professional, helpful, and hospitable. The building needs some updating but overall a good value for the stay.

That elevator was out of order the rest of our stay. The remaining elevator kept stopping, requiring several trips via the stairs to 7th floor. The doors on the elevator had several pry marks on the door so was not very comforting everytime you had to use it. Several times I came down the elevator then had to walk back up.. my husband is disabled and can do fairly well in normal circumstances but was unable to do some things due to maybe not being able to walk the 7 flights back up. Our car was parked on the 5th floor so it was possible to do the 2 floors and get to the car. The rest of the stay was fine. Rooms clean and easy to get to the beach.

This is a hotel advertising as a resort when it is more like a hotel in need of a renovation. Charging a resort fee is just a scammy cash grab. The floor had a long running crack that they just covered with tape. The parking garage is tight. Floor was grimy, probably from some spray that didn’t get wiped away. Everything was fine, if not awesome. However, while packing up to leave, my husband stepped on a large cockroach. If we weren’t already leaving, I don’t know that I could have stayed an extra night knowing that more bugs were probably crawling around the room.

The beach view was beautiful. The actual room was fine, nothing special but it was clean. Hotel clearly older the elevator wasn’t working when we got there. Breakfast was the basics for a hotel; coffee, bagels, yogurt, frozen waffles. If you’re coming for the beach it’s a great choice.

That should change. Oranges and bananas, bread yogurt with too much sugar.

For the price I paid, not worth the stay but the location and the fact of it being a holiday is the only reason. Very dated, and the elevators were broke a lot of the time, one or the other were. Thin walls, and we found a dead roach on the floor. I've stayed at a lot of places on VB Oceanfront and this was not one of the good ones. The people however were friendly. Didn't eat their breakfast so I can't say how that was. Very tight parking deck as well.

Very misleading. 2 BEDROOM suit was not a 2 bedroom suite. was told at check in they do not have 2 bedroom suites, yet advertised sleeps 6. No way. Avoid at all cost.

This hotel is clean, not updated but clean. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Room service came twice a day sometimes to check if we needed anything. The free breakfast was awesome! They had muffins, fruit ,bagels, cream cheese, cereal.. plenty more! The gym also had a beach view and under the hotel had two restaurants and stores! Super convenient!! Also not to mention it’s near stores and the rides! Overall, great experience.

My party signed up for a three-day two-night stay, but after the second day we bought a fourth-day and third night stay. We found the room very clean and appointed with designer bed linens. When first moving in we had trouble with the TV and it was addressed immediately. All the personnel were courteous and dedicated. The included breakfast was the standard fare of instant or pre-packaged muffins, bagels, toast, French toast, yogurt, juice, coffee, etc. and we could eat as much as we wanted (in one sitting from 7 to 10 AM). The beachfront property was very pleasant, and the balconies provided a secure way to enjoy the views. The access to the beach was immediate, and there were shops and restaurants a few steps away. The elevators wear and tear betrayed the age of the building but other than the elevators, the room seemed fresh and renewed. The covered parking structure was easy to access from the guest areas at all times.

The hotel has a beautiful lobby and a great continental breakfast with very helpful staff!

Beautiful property I’ve stayed here twice. Not a huge fan of the breakfast but everything else is amazing. 2 restaurants connected as well as a store for all your needs. Amazing view of the ocean. Walkable to all the restaurants and shops. Definitely a 5 star! Highly recommend.

The condition of the property is the only thing I have to complain about. Only one elevator functioned during my stay and it was very inconvenient as I was on the 5th floor. The bedrooms were okay, they were not dirty but not clean either. When I wanted to use the microwave, I found it was not connected, so I had to connect it myself. The hotel room phone also was not connected. Online the room seemed a lot bigger to me but they were actually quite small. Overall the staff were friendly and helpful, but the building (excluding the lobby) needs some much TLC.

The sandcastel resort was not clean, and the breakfast seemed frozen with poor quality. Room service was also disappointing. However, the area around the resort was very nice — the boardwalk was close by, walkable, and very clean.

This hotel is located in a great spot. Food options near by are great, esp the Mexican restaurant in the hotel. 10 stars to Ole (Oceans 14). Hotel could’ve been cleaner, but otherwise a good stay!

We loved the location and the fact that it was right at the fishing pier! Lots of eateries around and the live music in hotel bar was nice! All was good, but the property needs some updates. And the "complimentary breakfast" was handled very uniquely! We had to give them a "ticket" to go inside. Then we were in a long line like "school cafeteria style" only to have very select food options, which was not your usual waffles, eggs fruit...There was no meat at all?? But overall, okay stay!

The staff were super inviting and accommodating. We arrived a few hours early to check-in but were able to register, receive our parking pass, and have our room made up within an hour. The hotel is conveniently placed near the pier, Fun Park, and a beautiful beachfront view with multiple exits to street level. The two Ocean’s 14 restaurants attached to the hotel are also worth checking out with reasonable prices and exceptional food.

Elevators did not work, had to walk 5 floors Everytime. Floors are taped together. Nobody speaks English. Balcony is so small. Stay somewhere else!!!!

Awesome service from the beginning to end. Amazing balcony overlooking the water. One of the elevators were broken most of my stay, but that was just only a mild inconvenience because I was on the top floor. But they were consistently working on it and super friendly about the whole thing. The only thing I was wished they had was a light on the balcony so I could read. Housekeeping even kept my book open to the page I left it on when remaking my bed!

When we arrived all was well.Then things went a bit south.The elevator was broken,only had to climb 1 flight.Then the key pad was broken,10 min to get in the room.Then for the 1st time of too many,I stepped on a piece of the floor which was buckled and sharp.After the beach we went to shower and apparently the water doesn't drain well got to the point we had to call maintenance.4 days in still no elevator,and the key pad broke again.Most dissapointing was the breakfast.Possibly the worst on the beach,plan on eating out! You've been warned.Good news is you are on the beach,bad news is there is a lot of lip stick on this pig.Needs some TLC for us to ever try this place again.

The pictures around the room had lots of wear and tear to them and the space around the refrigerator was really dusty. Quiet location with family activities with in walking distance.

Check in was easy and staff was fine but the hotel was extremely dirty and the hallways were smelly. Bathroom still had last occupants items, surfaces were very dirty in the room, bathtub hadn’t been cleaned, footprints on the tub, and there were stains all over the carpet

The hallway smelled horrible, and the elevators were really sketchy; one of them broke down. Our bathroom tub would not drain properly, and the second bathroom's sink would not drain. The pool area was a mess. But other than that, it was great; the customer service downstairs was amazing. The people doing the breakfast were polite and kind

Our room was clean, my husband fell and got blood on the sheets and we requested that the sheets be changed, they were not and we had to go out and buy our own toilet paper because they never left any. We were there for 8 nights his accident was on day 3.

Stayed 4 nights in a queen double room. Room was a nice size and clean. The staff was very nice and the shop downstairs was convenient. The free breakfast had a nice selection and we were pleased with that. Hotel was in a good location as well.

We really enjoyed our stay there. It’s next to the boardwalk, has a nice restaurant and lounge, great view. The hotel is minutes away from entertainment, food, shops, and drinks. Will definitely come back.

I love the fact that we were right on the Beach. Parked my car and walked into the resort and never saw it again which was awesome. Walking distance to every thing. Clean, beautiful, awesome staff, Am never staying anywhere else but here! My family and I had an amazing time.

I asked for 3rd or 4th floor they put us on second which wasnt a deal breaker so whatever. Sometimes hard to understand english is very broken but it all worked out. In direct flight pattern with bomber jets so quit noisy but they stop around dark someone was smoking pot so had to smell that most of time. Probably wont stay there again Probably stay closer to northern side

People were smoking in the hallways. Trash was everywhere. It was SO LOUD every night. The hotel was patchwork. I was with my 2 daughters (11 & 13) and felt unsafe. What looks like a hot tub in the picture is, well, we are not sure what it was supposed to be.
