Great location, great ocean view! Got to see dolphins in the morning. Great balcony with 2 chairs and a small table. Free Parking garage was helpful. The included breakfast was good. The staff was right on top of the breakfast area. Very clean area, they would come around and take dirty plates. They wiped down the tables right away and the chairs. Safe feeling in the hotel, keeping doors locked with needing to use your room key to access the building. Husband’s only complaint was shower ceiling was low and the shower head was difficult for him to use (he’s 6 feet tall). Would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Easy access to everything, breakfast and staff are top notch! Housekeeping even rearranged my children's stuffed animals differently every time they cleaned and it made their day! Nothing!!!

It was our first time in Virginia Beach and the only criticism I had that an advisement of a major event they had the weekend we arrived would’ve been helpful, but everything worked out just fine. Highly recommend for a family no larger than four if the kids are willing to share a bed. Looking forward to potentially staying again sooner than later

Loved the hot breakfast every morning, with different options daily. If i have to choose one thing to recommend changing is to extend the breakfast times. It is really hard to get a family to breakfast before 9:30, on a vacation. We don't like to show up at closing time, so for us, if we don't get there at 9, we won't go.

The two separate bedroom set up was a great surprise. The easy access to the parking was perfect from our 5th floor room. Would definitely request that room again. The walls are VERY thin and we could hear full discussions of the room next to us.

Our room was spacious and cleverly divided into two separate areas, which worked perfectly for our family. The balcony offered beautiful views and was a great place to relax. The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of options available throughout the morning. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to families. We will definitely be coming back on our next visit! The only minus was noisy neighbors in the next room. However, the front desk lady took care of the issue quickly.

Very clean room. Perfect setup for people traveling with children. We were able to put them to sleep in the back of the room and it was very dark and quiet while my husband and I enjoyed the balcony. This is our 3rd year staying, and our first year in the VIP suite. We absolutely love the staff, and the breakfast is wonderful! The VIP suite is exceptional. We’ll definitely be booking for next year! No complaints! The AC in the room seemed to slack off just a bit our last night, but other than that, everything was wonderful.

The location was awesome. Breakfast staff are super friendly and kept it well stocked. Slow elevators. Not impressed with the gentleman that just stood behind a computer the whole time we checked in. I don't recall him even speaking and considering the blazer he had on, I'm guessing he was the desk manager. Not the best first impression.

A one hour early check-in is usually doable by the staff in most instances, mainly during the week. Weekends gets harder as the hotel really fills up. All rooms are oceanfront with a great view right on the boardwalk. Room size is much better than most hotels. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff is friendly and most helpful. A great place to stay when visiting Virginia Beach by yourself, with a loved one, or with your whole family.

I felt like the floors were dirty. My kids feet were black. Couldn't really use the pool area as several teenagers were horsing around and being rough while unsupervised. I have young kids and it was unsafe. Breakfast was just okay. Nothing special.

Stayed there to see David Byrne at The Dome which was a 5 minute walk. Room was updated and clean with bed and separate living area that could be closed off for sleeping as well. Was quiet at night, ocean view was beautiful, parking was easy and staff was very friendly. Free breakfast was great, had just about anything you would want. Def will visit again, was all around great experience!

The only issue was the shower head was too low for us! I am 5’6 and my husband is 6’4! We had to really bend to take a shower! It needs to be lifted up or replaced with a rain shower head.

Okay location Gonna be honest, it was a pretty lackluster hotel. Pool was cloudy, chairs looked musty in the pool. Coffee was terrible. Bathrooms were meh. Lighting was pretty poor and it smelled like weed everywhere we went. Not child friendly at all.

The bedding, they need to be updated, the mattress wasn’t the most comfortable.

This hotel is so nice that I visited two years in a row. And I hope to return next year!

I truly don't understand the high ratings I saw online when I booked this hotel. Other than the location, they were the main reasons for choosing it, especially since this hotel was priced significantly higher than others along the boardwalk. The hotel is dingy--lobby, pool, gym, and rooms. The room appeared clean at first, but when I spilled some soda on the floor and went to clean it up, I was horrified by how dirty the floor was. The breakfast was a joke. While the staff was very nice and accommodating, the food was terrible. The eggs were not real. They were either powdered or a liquid substitute and very rubbery. The sausages were microwaved links and patties that were also rubbery, and the pastry was stale. They would bring about 10 links and patties each out at a time to add to the buffet, and they were gone within seconds, with most people, including me, unable to get any unless they hovered over the food.

A good place to stay. No complaints about anything.

The Continental breakfast offered many options and was superb. I was highly impressed by the facility, it's location, and the staff.

No frills ocean front hotel with indoor pool, typical for the area. Location is within easy walking distance to haunted house attraction, mini golf, mirror maze. Good for families to enjoy both beach and activities.

The beachbwas in view. The room was very clean. Sadly the breakfast if not included in your price is not worth it. In fact I only drank the juice and ate a waffle. Everything else was overly processed and off tasting. I asked if they had beach equipment (chairs, umbrellas etc.) The attendant had to hold back laughter. In between a smirk she uttered we dont do that here. Over all i wasnt expecting much nor did i receive much gauge your expectation. Its a place to rest while not on the beach. With that in mind it met my expectations.

Great stay at Coastal Hotel & Suites in Virginia Beach. Suite fine for 4 Adults (2 king beds separated by bath & hallway). Fantastic sunset from balcony over beach, more seating for balcony would be good. Bathroom a bit worn and could have used more soap or some shower gel. Hot tub, pool and breakfast were fine and location was right in the center of things, so ideal for walking around. Overall great and I'd stay there again.

This was not my first time staying at Coastal Hotel and Suites. The entire staff at all levels was very friendly and professional; the location is great; the room and the entire facility was immaculate. I'm truly thankful to Management for their thoughtfulness and kind gesture throughout my stay. Hope to see you next year!! I should have asked for a room no higher than the fourth floor. I couldn't sit on the balcony because of my paranoia with heights. MY BAD. I was just too lazy and too old to request a change. I survived.

Unfortunately our only complaint is the town enforced curfew where everyone had to be inside by 9pm. It was no fault of the hotel but it did make the hotel very loud Saturday night (it was quiet Sunday). The hotel itself was secure but we were definitely nervous.

Very helpful staff! Hot breakfast buffet. Jacuzzi is amazing! Like that there are basically two rooms with the bathroom and small kitchenette dividing the two rooms. Lovely ocean view with private balcony. Upstairs neighbors were a bit noisy at times, banging items on the floor, not the fault of the hotel.

This hotel was exceptional. The staff was pleasant and kind from the front desk to the kitchen to the maid staff. May not be fancy or upscale, but very clean. Beds and furniture was very comfortable. Breakfast has a lot of choices and very good.

Con: Facility is dated and could certainly use some updates. Pro: Complementary breakfast is one of the best I have seen in a hotel, with plenty of seating. Pro: Location is perfect with easy access to area shops.restaurants. and of course right on the boardwalk. Pro: all rooms have balconies overlooking the beach. Con: room walls are Very thin and balconies close. Our neighbors were very loud late into the night and could be clearly heard in our room. They also smoked Marijuana on their balcony from morning to night ( despite the no smoking policy ) which permeated our space and ability to allow our children to enjoy the balcony. Pro: there is an indoor pool and hot tub for days when the weather doesn't allow for enjoying the beach. Con: pool area is small and can get crowded fast. Hot Tub is designed for 4 people. Pro: hotel staff is friendly and helpful If traveling on a budget or with young children, this is probably a good option. When I return to Virginia Beach, I will probably opt to stay at a more updated, modern facility- but would stay here again.

This has nothing to do with the property itself, but do your research on Virginia Beach and make sure that there’s not a curfew. There was one when we went and our entire trip was a plan to smoke cigars on the beach but we couldn’t do that because of the curfew the room was great. The view was perfect. We had the king suite with the ocean view on the ninth floor.

The cleaning staff needed to clean a little bit better. They did not sweep the floors properly and left things on the floors and one day they didn’t even come in and clean the room. They just left towels by the door.

Breakfast was surprisingly good. It would have been nice if the serving time was longer (7:30-9:30) and the coffee machine allowed for bigger servings. The food was replenished promptly and the breakfast staff was so nice. We didn’t use the pool but the area was nice and the gym was larger than I expected. The lobby was large, clean and pretty quiet. Another great amenity was the free parking. The garage was a little tight, but it was well lit and key card

I booked this hotel based on what appeared to be updated photos and recent reviews, but the actual experience was completely misleading and did not reflect what was advertised. From the moment we arrived, the environment felt uncomfortable and questionable, to the point where it made you think twice about something as simple as leaving food out. The hallways were extremely hot and stuffy, especially when getting off the elevator, and the overall condition of the property did not feel well maintained. Inside the room, several basic amenities were either missing or not working. The phone did not function, making it impossible to contact the front desk, and there was no proper storage or closet space, which was not clearly disclosed. There were also multiple safety and maintenance issues, including a broken latch on the sliding balcony door and a balcony railing that felt unstable and made noise when touched. Cleanliness was a major concern. There were small, dark insects present under the linens, and the room appeared to have poor paint work and overall upkeep. Additionally, there was no visible elevator inspection certificate posted, with signage stating it was only available upon request, which raised further concerns. I did attempt to address these issues with staff and asked if anything could be done to accommodate the situation, but no meaningful resolution was offered before I chose to check out. Overall, this stay fell far below expectations and did not align with how th

Everything was clean and staff were all nice. Breakfast is really busy and there is a bit of competition for tables… and it’s pretty average in terms of offerings. The pool is good sized but there are no bathrooms in the pool area. The hot tub is tiny. Overall I’m really pleased with the choice to stay here.

Outstanding overnight landing pad for our family, and I would love to come back and stay longer. The layout of the rooms is perfect for families, with a quiet room for sleeping and a front room with a queen sleeper sofa facing the ocean for early or late risers. Having the bathroom and kitchenette between rooms minimized disruption. The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful, and the free self-parking and breakfast made this hotel a great beachfront value in the middle of the best area to jog, eat, or hang out on the beach. Having the 24 hour gym in the lobby in a glass enclosure is great for solo female travelers and makes it a light an airy space, with an easy sight line to the lobby and over to the pool and hot tub. The breakfast buffet is standard, but exceptionally friendly staff kept the area sparking, moving families in and out smoothly. Cappucino and hot chocolate machine along with waffle makers were crowd pleasers. This is an exceptionally well-designed and well-managed hotel from our experience.

I love this hotel because of the layout of the rooms. The layout allows for the best ovean view. We were in a king room and the bedroom was right next to the balcony so you could watch and listen to the beach all night. The staff at breakfast was incredible kind and welcoming.

My only qualms were that the toilet seat was a little wonky like it needed to be secured and I wished the bed and pillows were more comfortable. But I also have back problems and it's hard to find anything comfortable. Overall happy with our stay!

Staff was friendly and the facility was clean. I appreciated the free parking with the room. My bed was uncomfortable and the blankets were horrible. They were very thin and scratchy. I just expect better quality on everything based on the photos online. Not the worst, not the best.

I only gave 4 stars because the receptionist who checked us in was not very welcoming. We checked in late because we got turned around and went to DC instead of going straight to Virginia.

We stayed 4 nights. The hotel has a very good location close to restaurants and the main road. On site parking is great. The beds are comfortable. The "Two bedroom with two king beds" in room description is misleading since it puts a king bed in the living room so there is not much space left with the king bed. It didn't give a picture to show the room layout so we assumed it is a two-bedroom suite with some living area.

This hotel is amazing. The location is easy to get to, the parking is nice (just know a truck is going to have a hard time fitting in the garage). The rooms are large and clean. I will stay here every time we come.

The best thing is they made accommodations so we could get conjoined rooms. Best birthday weekend. Plus everything we had planned was close by.

Totally impressed with our first stay at Coastal. Had an 8th floor Oceanfront room. Called in the morning for an early check in was met with a friendly woman who said she’d contact housekeeping to get a room ready for us. Check inn was a breeze by another front desk woman. Everyone employee in the hotel had a hello with a smile. Had a clogged sink and a remote that didn’t work when we checked our room and someone was sent up to solve the problem within 5 minutes and solved them in 3 minutes. Everyone at breakfast had a smile and a hello. Truly a great staff which made for a great stay.

Superb location, essentially mid-point on the oceanfront with many great restaurants within walking distance. Every room overlooks the Atlantic. Friendly staff, very clean lobby, hallways, and rooms. Even the fire escape stairwells are spotless. They offer an excellent breakfast buffet, that is well maintained by the employees.

The beds were very comfy and the air conditioning actually worked. I've stayed in several beach properties and everything feels damp. That was not the case with this. We had it nice and cool. The oceanfront balcony was great. We loved hanging out there. They offered different options at breakfast each morning, not the same every time, and the food was very good for hotel food. The pool and jacuzzi were great, but do note that they are indoor. The staff were all so helpful and friendly. I love that they have 2 king beds as an option. We will definitely come back. No complaints.

Love the room design with 2 king beds separated by the bathroom. The only complaint was a terrible shower head and almost no water pressure. The included breakfast was pretty good and they have a good selection of universal weight machines in the fitness center.

The hotel was very clean and the staff is very respectful and friendly. The shower in our room was quite possibly the worst shower I have ever been in. There are double shower heads which is a nice feature but the way they are mounted, you can't be taller than 5'6" or so and stand under them. As a taller person, I had to squat in order to wash my hair every day. It never felt like I was able to rinse my hair as well as I normally do because it was so uncomfortable to stand at a hunch in order to get under the shower heads. For us, this was probably a deal breaker. We most likely will not return here because of this.

Room set up was perfect for grandparents trip with granddaughter. Easy beach access. Parking was convenient with easy access to hotel. On site included breakfast had so many options! Indoor pool was the perfect evening activity. Easy and convenient access to the beach. We would definitely book here again!

It is NOT a fancy hotel, which I was disappointed with given the price, but it grew on us. It has all you need, good room size, comfortable beds and pillows, clean rooms and bathrooms, and our favorite: the ocean view was AMAZING. Staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. We’ll likely come back.

The room is very outdated and small and the hallway is not air conditioned. The facility is not what it looks like on the website pictures. Tv is very small, no overhead lighting, not enough shampoo and conditioner, missing shower gel. The staff is Not welcoming at the check in. I felt extremely judged, not valued customer. This hotel is not worth the money what I paid for. The quality of breakfast was poor and salty.

Our room was located right in the middle of the beach area. Literally walking distance out the back of the hotel. The view from our room was spectacular. Great breakfast options except for no options for people that do not eat pork. The staff were great they even allowed us to check in early. Coffee and cold water available all day in the lobby. The beds were comfortable pillows were a little small but we made it work. Chairs and a table were available on the balcony for great scenery. Bathroom was spacious

My family and I enjoyed our stay. We had two rooms right across from each other, that was a plus you could tell the rooms were newly renovated. You could tell that they put effort into taking care of their property as many times as I have stayed in Virginia Beach this place had the best breakfast. The pool was clean and nice. Coastal is one of my go tos for Va Beach. I love the room setup. I do wish there was a door to both king rooms not just one. The rooms need to be updated along with the beds but still a great hotel choice. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is always good and I love the coffee machines!

Not really much client oriented like we should expect for that type of pricing per day. Breakfast staff were at the top and always smilling! The gym needs a little bit of love and my daughter enjoyed the small pool inside the hotel.

We were very pleased with the layout of our room. The room was very clean and had a wonderful view. Staff was friendly and helpful. My only dislikes were the pool being cold and the fact that you pay a lot per night to be told you can't bring your continental breakfast to your room. I have a child with ASD who experiences anxiety and this was not accommodating to our situation. Other than that we were very pleased.

The room was clean, everything worked, we had a great view of the ocean, and people watching from the balcony kept us occupied for hours. You can walk directly onto the beach from the hotel. All of the staff were really nice and accommodating. Parking was easy and *included* with in/out privileges. Breakfast was standard (also included, so absolutely no complaints), and the staff stocking and cleaning up during breakfast were all really pleasant and accommodating. The 2 king bed room setup is a rare and awesome setup for a standard hotel. Only drawback is only 1 king bed has an ocean view. Room could use some minor updating, but being clean and in working condition with pleasant staff always works for me! Housekeeping always honored the “do not disturb” sign and was kind enough to leave us replacement towels and extra toiletries outside of our room without us having to ask, just in case we needed them. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I’d stay again in a heartbeat.
