Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating the beautiful pool area, family atmosphere, and excellent staff. However, many guests express disappointment with the condition of the rooms, cleanliness, and the value for money.
- Beautiful pool area and family atmosphere
- Excellent staff and service
- Rooms are dated, smell strange, and have issues like broken TVs and noisy air conditioning
- Cleanliness is a concern, with dirty pools, stained carpets, and unclean rooms

We think the property is nice overall, but we noticed somethings need maintenance upgrades. Our room could have been cleaned a little better. The bathroom door and the light switch wasn't clean. We found crumbs and dust on the floor near the floor light and chair in the corner of the room. There wasn't enough staff near the pool early enough to open the slide, however, once I asked someone, they obliged.

Very nice place but pool and area could have been cleaner. All and all it was a pleasant stay.

Resort is great the rooms are outdated but all the restaurants on site and pools are amazing .

Big property with multiple pools, they had a DJ, hotel staff is very friendly, it’s clean. Family friendly. They closed two smaller pools too early around 5pm and only leave the main pool open til 10pm.

I also requested housekeeping service and never received it once during my stay. Overall, I would not consider this a kid-friendly place, and I personally would not return unless it was strictly for a business trip. Very disappointing experience overall.

Room was large & spacious, bed comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Included was bike rental, golf & 10% discount at gift shop (we didnt use - too busy). Nice rain shower & hand held shower head. Mini frig. Lots of charging ports. Nice decor in room & entire hotel!!! Bed skirt very worn. Ice bucket was dirty or rust stained. Coffee pot made a mess. No guests allowed in pool area. No microwave. Everything closes at 9 pm!

What we love most is the atmosphere. There’s such a warm, welcoming family vibe throughout the property. It feels relaxed, beautiful, and genuinely enjoyable without being overly flashy or pretentious. It’s one of those rare resorts where you can truly unwind and just enjoy being together. The staff during this stay were especially kind and wonderful. From check-in to the restaurants to the pool areas, everyone treated us with warmth and care. You can tell the team genuinely wants guests to have a great experience. We also continue to appreciate that things feel reasonably priced compared to many resorts. It makes it possible to relax and enjoy the amenities, food, and activities without constantly feeling like everything is overpriced. Thank you, El Conquistador, for continuing to be a place where families can celebrate milestones, reconnect, and create lifelong memories. We’ll absolutely be back again. P.S. Gabby was our Pool server and she was amazing ❤️❤️❤️

The shop attendants very pleasant, bartender very good and informative. The coffee shop needs more attendants to be more efficient and timely. Overall , I wouldn’t stay there again.

My spa experience was even better than I imagined; also, you can stay in the spa pool area the whole day after your service. The adult only pool was a 1min walk from our room which was a bonus! Most of the time it was deserted, so we got to enjoy the pool all to ourselves. The main pool area is nice. The food and drinks were delicious and not overly expensive. Be sure to say hi to Fred (a lizard that frequents the pool area). We had dinner one night at Epazote and the food was very good and decently priced. All in all this was an excellent property and I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

The bathroom needs to be updated. The tub was painted and it was peeling. The room needed to be vacuumed better. The grounds were beautiful. Great ambiance

Rooms were good, and we had very easy access to the pools. My daughter enjoyed the slide pool immensely, and the servers in the pool area were outstanding. Special shout out to JT, who went above and beyond in customer service! The breakfast was very good, and the stables on property were a highlight of our stay - the Tattered Stables folks were great, and an asset to the resort. Anywhere on property we wanted to go we just went to lobby, and asked for a ride, and off we went! Highly recommend, great job to all at the El Conquistador - well done!

Great location, beautiful property. We came on an extremely busy Saturday night so couldn’t get service at the bar - a server wouldn’t even make eye contact with me. Then the following day was trying to get a menu item and staff wouldn’t help me. I called and talked to the Food service manager and he brought it straight up to our room, which was very much appreciated! Pools weren’t heated except the hot tub. Room was clean, adequate, mediocre for the price.

The resort is nice. It has a nice pool area and a good gym. The rooms are spacious, but are tired and need renovation. It’s a perfectly nice resort but it is dated. Could also use better food options for dinner.
- 2/5
Our Room was gross and smelled terrible. We asked for a a new room but they said they didn't have any and they would send someone to our room to check the air filter but that never happened. The pool staff just stood around and didn't There were like a 100 of dead grass hoppers in the hot that we had to ask them to clean out.

We had a lovely stay at the El Conquistador! Comfortable, spacious rooms with great beds. Excellent food poolside and at the Sun Cafe. Staff were friendly and helpful. Loved having the golf course options so close by! We would definitely stay again and will recommend to friends.

Service individuals were great at the pool and dinner when they had time to get to you. breakfast was extremely slow with very long waits. very understaffed so it to a long time to get food and drinks anywhere you went.

The resort, pool, & food were really very nice. However the hotel part of the resort has serious problems. We will not return. It was dark dirty & poorly staffed housekeeping. We had to change rooms due to ant infestation. Spent our stay searching for basics we needed in our room. The dark walkways & poor signage make it hard to find your room. Same for the dark parking lots. Needs total update for that caliber of hotel. Not worth the $.

Our room was disgusting. The first thing we noticed was how dusty it was. Wall plate over the outlet was gone . Chipped glasses. No luggage carts to take our luggage to our room. I could’ve stayed at the Hampton inn for three nights for what it cost me there. I was thinking of bringing my family for a stay. I will not ever come there again.

We love the place that is why we go back This time around , we did not get our request and when we asked the cleaning staff, they passed the buck around. Finally we got our extra towels but it was too late and the room was not picked up the way they usually are. The bed was not even done correctly and the pillows were not even in its proper way on top of the bed. We just felt that the service was down this time around.

The grounds were stunning, there were a ton of activities & the flute fireside was just amazing. The housekeeper was the sweetest, and so accommodating! Jared at the restaurant was pretty fabulous too. The front desk staff was quite rude when we pointed out dirty towels & trash in our hallway and chastised us about it instead of thanking us for bringing it to their attention. The young demographic was not well versed in dealing with guests at any age level but their own, and it showed. I got approval for a late checkout that I requested upon booking, but had to “prove it” for them to honor. They spoke negatively of the “Third party booking site” and said they couldn’t help us whatsoever. So staff was VERY dissapointing other than the housekeeper who was lovely.

Staff was very friendly and attentive- no complaints there. Pool slide supposed to close at 5 which is already pretty early- my kids went to go on again at 4:45 and it had closed early. They didn’t give us sheets for the pullout couch- we called down to ask and 15 minutes later we were delivered wet sheets. Nothing was a big deal but seeing that the room was $445 a night it was pretty disappointing.

The hotel check-in was convenient, and the front desk clerk was very nice and helpful. The room was in building two that you can only get to by going thru the lobby in building 1. The luggage carts required a bellboy to assist, so we didn’t use them. The room bed chair and couch were comfortable, the room had a small fridge, and a table with an office chair. There were a few tv channels that included starz. The hotel is beautiful and the view from the private patio was very nice. I do recommend this hotel.

The location was good if we stayed in Oro Valley. The TV didn't work properly our entire stay. The room was very basic. There weren't even any hooks to hang our towels. We could hear other gets through the room walls. Little kids were running up and down the hallway and banging on our door. Your entire lobby smelled like manure. It smelled so bad, and I had to hold my breath when walking through it. The only good thing about your property is your pool. Otherwise, a complete disappointment and not even close to being worth what I paid. I will make sure to tell family and friends to stay at any other resort than yours.

The facilities are great. Very convenient for what we were doing there. Would stay again. We used the fitness center and it was more than adequate. Staff was great. The whole place just needs a little updating and attention. It’s close to that point where you could get disappointed.

The shower knob was broke. To the shower so we had to struggle to turn the water on . The restroom faucet was leaking and it looked Ike mold on the wall . Also we tried to order room service at 530 pm and was told no because they was no time to put in the order

The hotel is really nice, outdated. The rooms dont have much and TV's are not able to work with netflix or apps, customer serviceis really bad in the front desk. Baylie wa terrible and not even a smile, they don't have information and are not helpful, the cleaning ladies were nice and accomodating. Maybe a little latin hospitality training from them would help the front desk.

The lady at the front desk saved us from a very unpleasant situation. One of the main factors in choosing this hotel was that we wanted a hotel with breakfast included; therefore, we searched only for hotels with breakfast. Whereas this hotel OFFERED breakfast, it was not INCLUDED. Once we discovered this error upon going to breakfast, she stepped in and offered a discount which we gladly accepted. This woman was fantastic from check in to check out. Sometimes it is the staff that makes the stay at the hotel memorable. We will definitely remember her kind and professional assistance at this grand hotel and resort. I am sorry I do not remember her name. BTW, the hotel also has a great location in Oro Valley with fantastic views.

This is a gorgeous setting and the hotel is pretty well designed. It is not, however, well cared for. There were areas of trash under stairwells outdoors. The lobby furniture is showing its age with tears in the fabric. The lobby furniture is completely dusty as are other places on the property. Basically the public area housekeeping is hit and miss. The place is old (1982) and needs painting in many public areas. The housekeeping of our guest room was minimal (we were there for a week) and vacuuming and linen changes were basically haphazard. The trash was emptied, the towels changed and the bed made but generally nothing more. The sheer curtains were torn and left that way all week. There were no cushions on the very hard balcony furniture. It was not up to 4 star standards. I have been coming to this resort from the year it opened and it has not improved or been well loved. A high point was Lisa, the front desk supervisor, who was welcoming and who greeted me by name each time we saw each other. Other front desk staff looked pretty unhappy but she was a bright light.

Both rooms smelled really bad and the furniture was old and musty. There also quite a few dark stains on the carpet with insects crawling around the rooms. Hilton needs to renovate the interior of the Casitas, upgrade the bathroom, and replace the carpet and all furniture.

Our stay here was subpar because the room was not very clean. There was a toothpaste stain on the side of the vanity. There was a stain on the bed skirt. There was a corner that hadn’t been vacuumed in ages. We wanted to stay at the resort and eat at the café for lunch, which was open till two. We went at 11:30 on a Saturday and they told us that they were not taking any Diners. They had decided to close early. Furthermore, when I return to my room at 3:30 in the afternoon it had not been cleaned.

The resort was lovely and the staff was kind and helpful. Our room was pretty rundown and had a musty, stinky smell about it. The TV remote didn’t work, the safe was broken, we weren’t given any shampoo and no maid service was provided although we were out of our room from 8:30 am to 4 pm and again from 5 to 7.

Air conditioner didnt work well. remote control didn't work. Cable went out. No lawn chairs, had to put towels down on grass. It was a staycation. We went home at 3am so we could get some sleep. Staff at desk was pretty rude didn't even ask how our stay was. Disappointing. Won't stay here again.

Food was good, the poll was GREAT. The bed comfortable, however there were spiders in the room and bed. Wi-Fi was troublesome to log on. The TV does not have access to the internet, no YouTube, mostly regular TV with commercials, the only service is HBO. You pay an extra $29.00 dollars every day for a limited internet access service on the TV. Legacy media give no useable news, or information. I felt I was cut off from the world. When I'm traveling, I need accurate information on the weather conditions at my next destination.

Rooms are very dated. Stains on the carpet, shower head had calcium deposits all over it and wasn’t sealed to the wall tile. The tub drain in the shower was very slow to drain the water. The main pool is not relaxing on the weekends (overcrowded) and there isn’t enough seating available for the amount of guests present. On a positive note, the staff was very nice, professionally, and the restaurant was great!

Love the beauty of the surrounding landscape! The room was comfortable. The gardens are gorgeous. The pool is nice enough but there was never any place to sit. Some of the pool chairs that were available were pulling apart and breaking. The pool area was loud and bustling, which isn’t a bad thing, but it would’ve been nice to have a quiet area for adults.

We went for the 4 th of July weekend. There was not enough towels. Not enough umbrellas that we had to go out and buy our own umbrella to shade ourselves . Not enough people working around the pool with no chairs I sat on the ground. The pool was packed you couldn’t move because you sold tickets to outside people that were not staying at the hotel. The grass was dead and there were no nice flowers or plants . When I went for the brunch breakfast in the morning the man on the omelet station was sweating and it was dripping into my food so I threw that food out . The next morning after each day the grounds were dirty with empty bottles and cups scattered about . I would never come back I spent a lot of money and was very disappointed .

We booked a "Mountain View" room, but were placed on the first floor, where the only thing we could really see was the hill leading up to the parking lot — definitely not what we expected. The room had a patio, but since it wasn’t enclosed and we were on the ground level, the added security gate they promote didn’t make much difference. The room itself felt dated, and the overall property seems like it’s showing its age. Walking to our room, we noticed moths in the hallway, which didn’t add to the experience. It feels like this resort may have been really nice at one point, but it's in need of better upkeep and attention to detail. Not the relaxing stay we were hoping for.

We loved the property and the location of the room was excellent. Our room had older looking carpet and a fabric headboard that was not pleasant. The room needed an update but the stay was great overall! Loved the pool near our room and the staff were so friendly and accomadating!

Excellent. It was very hot, 115 in Tucson and they opened up the water slide for us. Thank you.

Solid pool and service, actually hotel felt outdated. TV was not a smart tv which stink because we had a movie in mind to watch whom we were there. TV remote didn’t work when we got into room. Paint was peeling in different spots in room. A lot of cobwebs and moths around in the hallway. Not the 5 star resort I was anticipating… also the breakfast buffet was not worth the 25$ per person, the food had been sitting there a long time and looked a little gross…

Very nice rooms, stay was very friendly and has multiple food and drink options.

Great area some of the private spas smelled like dogs were in them but the rest of the pools were great

Unfortunately, some other events that weekend were a bit underwhelming. We went swimming at the large pool Saturday morning, and purposely went early, near when it opened, to avoid the crowds. There were no towels available for a couple hours though, and a number of guests appeared to have "saved" lounge chairs or entire tables under the pavilion from the night before, but were not actually present yet. There were no staff members over seeing this though, so for those of us who woke up early to use the pool we were just out of luck using the umbrellas, lounge chairs, pavilion/tables, or we had to confront angry patrons who arrived later if we happened to use the "reserved" spaces. We did not see any signs that said there was reserved seating, and were told by staff that this was not allowed but then saw no one enforcing it. It made for a very unpleasant experience. There were some kid friendly events later in the day, but they were all outdoors on a VERY hot day with no shade provided. The coin hunt was literally just a number of gold coins thrown onto the grass. I was expecting maybe a scavenger hunt throughout the hotel, something more engaging for the kids. The pinata was fun, but again outside in hot sun. We did not stay for the limbo - too hot. It was not one of the better events at this hotel.

This was our first day at this property and we were very disappointed. We had hoped to get into a room a couple of hours early because we had driven along a while to get there and all the front desk could do was tell me that the check-in time is solidly 4 PM. We chose this hotel because of the pictures of its pool and grounds and the pool was very disappointing. It was dirty, there were a bunch of rowdy people throwing a football, drunk, older adults yelling at the top of their lungs, people vaping and laying in their Bluetooth music for all to hear. Nobody came by the first day to offer us or take our order. As I think back, with the exception of a waitress on the second day at the pool, we didn’t speak to any staff members. The front desk folks kind of stared us down as we walked through the lobby the second night. Not sure what the issue is With them. Also, I’m getting tired of putting information about my family and the number of guests into hotels.com reservations and the hotels not being prepared for that many people in the room… I’m talking about having to always call for the proper number of towels.

Service and bellman great!!! They have change bar start time on Sunday 11am isn’t acceptable… the system where they text you let you know your room is ready doesn't work…. I don’t think I would start here again…. Waiting for 10-15 for 4 mimosas is unacceptable, the host working on father’s at the restaurant was rude shoved drinks towards and still mange to get one drink wrong….. Terrible staff in sole areas great staff in some
- 3/5
I didn’t like that when we’re going to our room. When we check in. The sheets and trash are piled up in corner in the hallways. The furniture looks like it has been cleaned in months. The carpet in the hallway needs be cleaned or replaced. It looks very dirty. The stuff was very attentive.
- 5/5
We arrrived very early from a long drive from Texas. The staff allowed us to check in early and rest up in the room before dinner.
- 5/5
The resort was absolutely breathtaking. The photos do not do it justice. Staff were great. Joey at the pool bar was excellent.
- 5/5
The stay was excellent and the atmosphere was fantastic. Loved that it had a pool and whirlpool area only for adults.
- 3/5
The experience was disappointing. While the setting and location were beautiful, it was not a Four-star property. The pools needed updating; the main pool did not have enough lounge chairs, the adult pool was dirty, and there were no towels (even after four different people called for them). Lounge chairs were broken on only eight of them at the pool. Rooms were comfortable but dated, and showers still had shower curtains. They did have an an exceptional piano player two nights, and that was enjoyable. The main restaurant was excellent. Front desk service was fine. The coffee shop closed too early.
- 3/5
The hotel lobby was beautiful when you arrive. The men out front greeting you were fantastic and helpful. The rooms, pool, and general building are in need of updating. There wasn't enough umbrellas or chairs for the number of guests, even on the slower days. Also many of them were damaged. It would be a very nice hotel with some much needed updates. I will say the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Location was excellent Near stores and restaurants.

The property was nice, but the rooms need a refresh. The view is breathtakingly beautiful.
- 5/5
I didn’t like that it didn’t have a microwave in room but other than that beautiful day
- 5/5
Awesome resort. Kids enioyed the pools and slide. Great food options and adult beverages.
- 5/5
Beautiful room & amazing surroundings. Friendly staff except for one (Mgr at breakfast buffet had a hostile manner towards myself and family. While everyone else was friendly and approaching us with smiles she remained cold and standoffish. No eye contact or smiles. Unfriendly attitude) ... Loved this resort!
- 5/5
Great stay while visiting family. You really need a car for the area. Our only complaint was that one night we ate dinner on property and we were told we needed a reservation and to come back in 45 min. We sat in the bar area and waited and at no time were there more than 4 tables in the whole restaurant. Maybe they were short on staff, but it was disappointing with two small children.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay at the El Conquistador. The grounds are beautiful and there are great amenities. The rooms are a bit dated, but the convenience of having a comfortable two bedroom casita far outweighs that. Staff was very friendly and the location in Oro Valley was convenient. We would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Lovely property and location
- 3/5
Great place for a young family. For us, probably the last time we stay in such a place. The room was no better than a three star hotel. The property is dated and needs renovation. Too many screaming kids! Location and view was best part of the stay.
- 3/5
Overpriced and under delivery on keeping room clean and properly stocked. Daily followup to get basics. Offset by a great location.
- 1/5
For the amount of money that this resort is charging for there rooms it is horrible accommodations and the room was unclean bed was being held together by black tape wasn’t ready at check in which made us late to our event we were unable to take photos of our seniors in there prom attire would never recommend this resort as an option the only thing worth while was outside views. When speaking with the hotel manager all that could be offered in return was a partial refund and some Hilton honors points. For the amount we paid we expected a luxurious stay cation. Which we didn’t get.
- 2/5
The facility needs major upgrade and attention. Half the staff were unresponsive to the guest needs. Customer service is poor except for a few shining lights.

We visited with three other families and it was a great place for all ages. The property made it easy to get around. The rooms are more outdated than the rest of the property but still nice. Staff were all very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
We had a great staycation. Every person we came in contact with was so nice and polite. Clean and beautiful property. Food was amazing and spa was top notch.
- 4/5
Lovely property. We would stay there again. The only disappointment was the fitness room. Many of the machines were not working. And, no bathroom in the fitness room.

Quiet resort in Tuscon area. We spent 3 days in the resort. Clean, quiet. Overall good property
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Everything worked . They were especially helpful to my wife and her walker
- 3/5
The property was nice but it is in desperate need of an update. After all the taxes and resort fees I definitely won't be back or recommend anyone staying here.
- 5/5
The property was lovely and had lots to offer. Staff was amazing. Room could use some updating
- 4/5
this property was absolutely beautiful and solo trip friendly. the Mountain View room was stunning, the staff were extremely kind, and the food was phenomenal. the area was quiet and peaceful. the spa was incredible and decently priced. the cost of the stay itself was a little pricey with the resort fees, but it is what it is.
- 5/5
The staff were super friendly and helpful! Bar was small and excatly what we needed. The resteraunt had excellent food! The room itself was clean, but the celling in the bathroom in our room 1205 was leaking and had some damage. Had a good drip going. They had a light attached to a receptacle that we couldnt turn off and it stayed on all night. Bed was comfy but it was a little noisy with people coming and going near the room. Overall cool place.
- 3/5
There are no available AC outlets around the entire property, with the exception of multiple outlets by the entrance and near the loading dock. These outlets are specifically for charging the hotel carts. After checking-in late in the evening, and little range left, I found 6x unused outlets by the loading dock cart charging area. I spoke with the front desk and asked if I could use one of the outlets to plug my mobile charger in. I would not block anyone nor hinder access for vehicles to travel in both directions. In addition, I would write my cell # on the parking pass, so that if the hotel needed to reach me immediately, they could call the number. The front desk agreed. In the morning I received a call to the room asking me to move the car. When I arrived, the charger had been unplugged from the outlet- so that they could take out my charger from the car- This can actually damage the car* The head of security was waiting for me. I asked if he had unplugged my charger, he said yes, and said it was against hotel policy. I went to the hotel manager and asked why they unplugging my car? The manager said it was against hotel policy to charge. I explained that I had gotten permission the night before and left my number to call. He was absolutely rude and denied I had gotten permission. I asked him to show me proof that there was an actual no EV Charging Policy, and couldn’t produce one. RUDE AND BS-ers!
- 3/5
The property is fine but it is pretty old and dated for how much it cost! It could really benefit from an update as well as the gym!!
- 4/5
Property was beautiful but the housekeeping staff caring for the room was poor. In the second day was not restocked coffee, etc tissues and lotion. Had to call the front desk to ask to be restocked. They didn’t remove the dirty glasses or trash left out daily and didn’t service our room until after 4pm due to towels not in stock. One evening we got back to get ready for dinner out around 430pm and our room had not been cleaned or changed. We had to get ready quickly and they never came back to service our room. Disappointed in the service but the rest of the property and stay was lovely
- 5/5
This property is gorgeous! Really good food & friendly staff. Zero complaints.

Very nice stay. Building 4 is looking old and needs new carpet and new paint in hallways and rooms. The sliding door track needed cleaning and oiling. Room service good.
- 3/5
Not great service. Young, rude staff who didn’t seem to care about anything. I’m only 37 so it’s not like there was a huge age gap but I felt very old because they were so immature
- 3/5
It is located in a great area and this wasn't our first time staying there. However, this was not our best time, the bed skirts had stains and the carpet had a huge stain the middle of the floor. We told the front desk and they sent someone to clean it while we were gone. They cleaned one spot and not the other. No compensation or move to another room. In spite of this I would still recommend this place because of the mountain view is beautiful and the location is perfect.
- 5/5
Love this place. So beautiful. Staff is so nice. Excellent
- 4/5
Overall OK. A little dated but clean and good location.
- 3/5
It was a lovely property, indoor (lobby) and outside. My quibble -and this is big for a return visit (NO) - our “casita” was 2 connected rooms and a sofa/table area. Tiny fridge and microwave. We had 2 little ones and intended to make breakfast/lunch. There were no plates, cups, mugs, paper towels. We wiped the table with toilet paper. What does one put in the microwave - I hope not styrofoam takeout containers!!? An empty askew cabinet had someone else’s crushed goldfish, and there were 3 cardboard coffee cups for 4 adults. The furniture was brown and lackluster. Honestly, the “casita” separate from the lovely property had far less than any low-tier hotel that offers suites. Definitely a disappointment. Oh, and we were urged to order from the lobby “restaurant” instead of Epazote because of the littles. The kid menu offered mac & cheese with carrots - and it took 40 not 15 minutes and had no carrots. We were families, not golfers, and my guests were making jokes about our “casita” experience. It was ridiculous.

Loved it. They were amazing. Every person working there.
- 4/5
I loved the hot and cold plunge pools and there was a water slide for the kids. I was there for a tennis tournament and the courts were amazing. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed the lobby bar and both restaurants. However, the rooms were dated and had a smell. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t lovely either, lol. It was like… grandma’s house… or a nursing home. That said, we spent most of our time at the pool and at the matches.
