Reviews
The hotel reviews indicate a mix of positive and negative experiences. Guests generally appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms, the friendly staff, and the convenient location, but they frequently complain about the thin walls, the poor quality of the breakfast, and the lack of maintenance in some areas.

This hotel is badly in need of maintenance and perhaps new management. The stairway carpets looked as though they had not been cleaned for weeks and must have been over 10 years old. Breakfast was in a room by the lobby and did not vary for the almost 4 weeks we were there. The room was not well attended during breakfast hours and we often had to ask them to refill the coffee machine. The outdoor pool was closed. Pets were allowed and several times we could hear them through the walls of our room. When we first arrived, the room smelled like old shoes. This smell dissipated over the first several days. The room was cleaned once or twice during our stay with new bedding, otherwise it was only cleaned on request once or twice a week which is their policy. Their landscaper would make a better butcher, as he chopped some recent blooms off of the bushes surrounding the building. The A/C unit kept the room at our selected temperature, and the bed was reasonably comfortable. The hotel is about 30 minutes from the Tucson city limits, but has a few restaurants of decent quality within 6 minutes. Also about 4 minutes from the hotel is one of the best Basha's in all of Tucson where we often bought things to supplement our breakfast for the next day. There was always adequate parking. For the quality of the hotel, the price was high, but most hotels of good quality were booked due to the Gem and Mineral shows and peak season for Tucson. All considered, two stars is pretty generous.

Deceiving and misleading information, the add indicates buffet breakfast and it’s only toast and cereals, front desk never picked up the phone before purchasing stay, look for better options with clear information, don’t waste your money here!

Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were a little outdated, fridge had old pizza in a ziplock and there was a missing sheer curtain. Everything else was good to stay and seemed cleaned. The breakfast was simple, coffee, juice, milk, toast or English muffin along with two different cereals. WiFi was good. No other amenities used.
- 4/5
Unfortunately the complimentary breakfast does not include any hot meals and or fresh fruits.

Great service
- 3/5
The pool was filthy, room was not clean found trash under vanity on floor, tiles in bothroom floor loose and wobbly, the breakfast consisted of a dry bagels some toast, little tiny blueberry muffins or dry cereal. Guess thats why its so cheap to stay there! You get what you pay for! BUT THE STAFF THEY WERE GREAT VERY FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING!

Good hotel very clean Just stayed one night. Walls are thin and you can hear next door.

Our room, bathroom, kitchenette area were clean and functional. Queen beds were clean and comfortable. While this inn does offer amenities such as a small coffee pot and pods, small fridge/freezer, desk, good lighting and a pool (we didn't use), plus a complimentary brunch (always welcome!), large remote TV, it was limited by no bathroom sink or counter space, only the sink and small counter in the kitchenette area. The price for what we got was the main draw for us....1/3 the cost of other hotels/inns. This was perfect for a short period of time, only overnight in our case, and very friendly front-desk staff. Functional, very reasonable, clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

The first room I was in had a major issue with the door. It had clearly been broken into and glued back together. The door frame was bent and the door wouldn't lock or latch without a lot of effort and multiple attempts. I could see outside when the door did finally latch, and I could see underneath the door to the outside. Not a safe place for a solo woman to stay. Thd room also smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The second room I was placed in had issues with maintenence as well. The refrigerator wasn't plugged in and was filthy behind it and the dresser it was fit into. The floor tiles in the bathroom were wobbly and the grout was broken and tracked onto the carpet each time I walked out of the bathroom. The caulking in the shower had black mold throughout. I actually bought a mold and mildew cleaner and doused the caulking with it. The rest of the building is in disrepair. The carpets are stained and haven't been cleaned. I don't recommend this hotel.

Very poor room condition; main lamp was extremely dim, and bedside lamps had no bulbs at all. The door into the adjoining room was broken and being held against the wall by a piece of furniture. Exterior doors to the property did not latch, so anyone from the public could walk into the motel hallways. Definitely the most sketch motel I have stayed in many years. I have always had a good experience with Expedia on making reservations, but Did not appreciate Expedia’s pricing algorithm; it sold me a nonrefundable high price as the “last one available, then AFTER booking Expedia came back with a much lower price for the exact same room. Just a bad Expedia experience all around.

That being said, the staff and GM made the stay comfortable and resolved any issues. They really cared to make the stay nice. Plus, Catalina State Park is a few miles away along with horseback riding ranches and Oro Valley Marketplace. So it is a good place to stay if those are your intentions.

I stayed at this hotel for five nights. I placed the “Please clean the room” sign on my door twice, but no one came to service the room. I informed the front desk, and housekeeping did come to change the towels, but the bed was not made and the room was not properly cleaned. Overall, it was disappointing.

2. We were given another room that the door also stuck but we finally did get it open. However, this room had no towels so we dealt with that. 3. The staff felt bad so they moved us to a bigger room on the first floor (there is no elevator) this room had no towel bars at all. 4. After staying one night in that room I found that the mattress had a huge dark brown stain completely across the mattress and half way down. I then pulled the sheet and mattress pad completely down and found about a eight old blood stain. I am a nurse so I know what a blood stain looks like, we checked out at 2am. elevators)

We had to stay in this hotel as it was the closest to a family member that was passing away. We had no choice of any other ones except farther away. Room door sticky and hard to open, keys had to be rekeyed numerous times. Never was fixed. Toilet seat loose and slipping Light bulb out and we changed new one and fixture loose so didn’t work Carpet falling off the walls on one side of room. Dirt in the baseboards Bathroom dirt still there after changing toilet seat Housekeeping almost non existent. Checked in on Monday evening. No housekeeping at all, except empty trash and replace towels and make the bed. until we complained on Saturday and then were told they only clean long term people on Wed and Sat. Well, they never came in on Wednesday. We put our trash out and they took that. Had to get towels, toilet paper, garbage bags from front desk clerk. Emily, evening clerk, excellent. She changed the toilet seat. Guess maintenance is not available on weekends. But they never came in at all to fix anything. So if they were here during the week, they never came and fixed things. Finally on Sunday 1/11 we finally went to the front desk and told them again that housekeeping never vacuumed or cleaned the mirror or sink or toilet. We had been there almost 10 days. But lo and behold when we came back Sunday night, the room had been vacuumed, mirror washed, sink cleaned, trash picked up, towels replaced, bed made. Strange we had to wait until our stay was almost over to get this

The staff were very nice about my request for a quiet room, but the rooms were dank and smelled like mold / chemicals. Curtains were shredded and useless, had to pull the blackout curtains for privacy. Not enough accessible outlets; had to choose between charging my cell phone or my laptop or my watch, but not all at once. I checked out a day early due to sinus issues / headaches that developed over the stay. Very disappointed overall.

The room was what I would refer to as the homeless special. Something you’d put someone in who just needed a place to sleep. There was a huge gap in the front door at ground level where bugs were getting in. Gap in ac area for bugs to get in. Wall paint peeling. Toilet seat broken, as well as toilet. Pee on the toilet still. No battery in fire alarm, the battery door was wide open. Broken closet door with piece of metal that could cut. No blow dryer and played stupid when I asked. Paid $120 pet fee for 3 nights, when entire room was $200. When I notified the office the next morning and requested my pet fee back due to condition of room, they moved us rooms instead and room was better but still not worth it. Kept stepping on tacks in the transition from room to bathroom. Broken glass was surrounding all walkways and was difficult to walk dogs.

The Inn was under renovation, but we probably wouldn't have stayed there knowing that? I think eventually I will be a nice quaint little Inn in Catalina. The positives were that it was in a great location, there's wonderful Mexican food just a little further down the street on the same side of the motel. It's a beautiful view of the catalinas and very quiet.

Low cost because rooms are not fitted with large tv, bathroom plumbing needs work. Door locks weak. Drapes are worn.
- 4/5
Not much to say under construction, broken picnic table could be replaced easily. Not told about breakfast.
- 1/5
The bad: Hotel was under construction and we were not aware. Carpet down hallway was taped down in some areas and torn up in others. Rooms 1 & 2: Curtains were shredded from what looks like an animals claw. The walls were splattered with filth. Front desk didn't have extra pillows. Room 1: microwave didn't work, door was hard to open due to doorknob not working properly, mold in caulk of tub, dresser missing knob, bathroom wall missing chunk of drywall. Room 2: A/C would turn off every few hours, no tv remote in room, Bathroom towel rack broken.

They are renovating the rooms with new furniture but not anything else. Breakfast is a joke.
- 5/5
Great last minute stay. Staff was friendly and efficient. Room was very clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Nice little hotel with a great breakfast.
- 4/5
Good rooms bad breakfast
- 4/5
Great place to stay for a night. Close to everything you would need.
- 4/5
Nice price , basic and main needs met!
- 3/5
Mold growing in bathroom plus torn curtains.
- 3/5
Dog poop stayed on the ground near the check in front door the 3 days I stayed. The pool area was a mess and underlayment outside flew around, which someone could trip on.
- 4/5
For an older hotel is was clean, rooms were very comfortable.
- 1/5
Problem with my oxygen and and oxygen tank could not stay 4 nights. 50 minutes to check in ( at 2 o’clock) and we already paid Expedia. Would not work with Expedia on early check out. Check in person cussed and got mad and was rude. I stayed calm and nice. Would never stay there!! Always look at room before you pay!

Property has potential but needs updates
- 5/5
I don't know what people are talking about with bad reviews on breakfast. I had a wonderful free breakfast of eggs, bagels, and fruit. The two ladies at the front desk went above and beyond, perfect customer service. The room was excellent, in the back away from traffic noise, comfortable bed. I highly recommend this place if you're in the Oro Valley area.
- 5/5
Very comfortable
- 3/5
This property is in real need of attention. The room was reasonably clean except for the dust covers, they did not look clean. Carpets are old and worn, missing towel bar with holes in the wall. The door lock was not secure, door didn't close properly and so we used both the extra locks. Hallway carpets were rather dirty with dried mud. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Needs some TLC. Adequate for a night though.

The only pleasant experience was with the woman at the front desk. This is my second time staying here and the fiirst time i was charge a 20$ pet fee for my certified PSA animal. i was given this room that fhe shower was clearly leaking in the wall there was filthy mold all on top around the shower not to mention i dont think they have xleaned that room ever the blankets were filthy. The walls looked as if someone had spit like ketchup or fruit juice all over them. It was beyond gross i figured it was only for one night just to shower and sleep. I had to scrub the shower abd toilet before I used them and the cloth was black after i cleansmed them. Absolutely ridiculous, then i went to leave and tge door did not lick so i didnt even need a key for room 117 neither would anyone else just go straight in take what you will. My cousin called the fromt desk told them the door did not lock the man came to the room and i asked him a question and he waved his hand in my face to dismiss me and told ne he was going to give the man a new room. Well it was my room that i booked and he wouldnt even speak to me then i said dont talk to me like that and he got ruder. Soni told hin his motel was absolutely filthy he told me then dont come there... really great management skills then when i asked him about illegally charging ne a pet fee for a registered service animal last time i stayed he got even ruder tokd me he dont know how long we had the room for but we were not switching rooms wow

Sink faucet was loose, hair dryer did not work, first room they put us in was very noisy, the second was ok. Very, very limited breakfast.
- 3/5
Catalina Inn is just old...money needs to be put into it...
- 5/5
We were very pleased with our stay at the Catalina Inn from the welcoming of the staff when we arrived & how nice the room was to to the friendly goodbye when we left!
- 5/5
The rooms were spotless and very comfortable, providing a relaxing and peaceful environment. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in keeping the place clean and well-maintained. Overall, I had a great time and would highly recommend the Catalina Inn to anyone looking for excellent service and a comfortable stay. I’ll definitely be returning!
- 3/5
The only problem was the power went out for almost 2 hours and my food in the min fridge when bad
- 3/5
Breakfast was okay but could be improved. the fruit looked terrible. I would not subject my family to staying here. this was a solo trip, and it was close to my activities, so I selected the property for myself knowing what I would be getting.
- 4/5
Nice, quiet location. Definitely worth the room rate. Great food from local restaurants.
- 4/5
Quite and clean
- 2/5
one lamp on non-stop-- unscrew bulb to turn off smoke detector hanging by a wire
- 1/5
I didn’t stay there.
- 1/5
When they give me the room it was trash in the room and all the tiles are worth dirty like somebody was in there and didn't clean it terrible experience
- 3/5
Convenient location and good price. Breakfast was a little sparse but adequate. Room good.
- 5/5
Was great stay there but the breakfast could be better
- 5/5
Catalina is a small town got one dive bar with a pool table. One gas station the mountains in the distance it’s a great little motel.
- 5/5
Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Thank you for all the kind support during stay. Beautiful view of mountain.
- 3/5
Not sure since when a registered psa animal has to pay a pet fee when the dog is clearly a service animal
- 1/5
This is one of the worst hotels I have ever been in. The first room we were assigned had a door that was damaged to the point where you could not close or lock it. And as an added bonus, the toilet seat was nearly torn off the fixture. So we got another room where the toilet paper holder was affixed to the wall at an angle and the glass shelf above the sink looked like it would fall off. The television set had one of it's legs broken off. A tour guide book was used to keep it up. No comforters were on the beds or on the room. The only good thing about this place was the woman on duty in the evenings and at night. She was polite, concerned and effective. She was outstanding. The rest of this place was crap.

- 3/5
Our first room on check in was not cleaned, so management needs to pay closer attention to organization. Seems a major demo reconstruction is called for, but then you'll loose the best price for lodging in Tucson.
- 5/5
Nice little hotel
- 4/5
The security lock was broken, no stopper in tub, slow draining sink, food on the carpet (almond and red m&m, which we didn't have). Everything else was ok. Actually better than expected, especially considering the price.
- 3/5
Staff was nice. Hotel needed some TLC.
- 3/5
The first morning there was breakfast aplenty. The next morning, had to ask to have coofee made by laundry lady, no hot items left, no milk for cereal, no bread for toast. Only 3 raisin bagels and a couple plain left. Not 1 person came to check on the breakfast room once! The tables were used and unckean after previous customers. Horrible service. The room was clean and bed pretty comfy, however!
- 2/5
It was difficult to sleep with the tiny, lumpy pillows and the very noisy plumbing all around us.
- 2/5
Had to change rooms three times until we got one with actual working door handles and locks to our room. First room had stained sheets. Third room had last person’s garbage on the floor. Breakfast is terrible unless you like Raisin Bran and bagels the size of a half dollar. Shampoo is absolutely laughable as it comes in a packet just a little bigger than a sugar packet. I told the guy at the front desk that you couldn’t fully shampoo a rat with how little is in there. Had to go buy my own shampoo to avoid wastefully opening up several of these little packets at a time. The only positives were that the AC worked, and the shower had hot water.

We stayed 2 nights but no room cleaning after the 1st night. Room TV doesn't work. Door lock was difficult to be used.
- 2/5
No fue lo que esperábamos..

Motel has an excellent view of the Catalina Mountains. It is located within a couple of miles of Oro Valley and Tangerine Road. Room was more than adequate and pretty clean. Good value for the money. I will return.
- 2/5
The front desk person made my overall stay very uncomfortable. As soon as I checked in she started saying these wierd comments. We got checked in the wrong room, which I don’t blame her for. But still
- 2/5
Room 103 had broken door handle good thing security lock wasn't. Television had one channel and no batteries in other remote. Chris at front was scary nut case and on something. No need to ask management for assistance cause they were hiding. The breakfast LACKED EVERYTHING...SOME MCDonalds in trash guess they eat elsewhere too.

Love this place.
- 4/5
Good place to stay.
- 4/5
I do like it it’s quiet. 😴
- 5/5
Very nice one night stay...
- 3/5
Comfy bed and pillows. Shower mildew issues
- 3/5
That they have a Smoking section with chairs, a table, and Ashtrays.
- 4/5
Place was so nice and clean the staff was friendly. Thank you.
- 5/5
Would stay again, no problem.
- 4/5
Love it. Always come back
- 4/5
We have one week already in Catalina hotel. I feeling secure and good rest in here. I do recommend it.
- 2/5
The hotel room was quite worn down and in need of a remodel. Just look at the window curtains--they're shredded to ribbons from the sunlight over the years. Just a lot of use across the board from bathroom to carpets. The inside door used to open if two rooms are being rented by the same guests had its outer layer peeling off. This is more cosmetic than security, but the entire door needs to be replaced. I will say that the beds are quite comfortable and the cleaning service is doing their job well. Just an old hotel that hasn't had any work done on it since at least the 1990s and possibly the 1980s. Check-in was fine enough, but don't expect a cheery welcome or a cheery good bye when checking out either. But at least I felt secure and comfortable inside the hotel room and slept well (the heat/ac unit was working just fine).

- 5/5
Fine basic habitations
- 1/5
Did not like anything; unsafe for kids, because of broken items. Stinks, beds are terrible and dirty
- 3/5
Super convenient to run the Tucson Marathon. However, the walls are very thin and I could hear conversations in the rooms on either side of mine. NOT loud conversations...just talking. Front desk staff very accommodating and let me arrange for late check out so I could come back and clean up after the run. I would stay here again but would recommend ear plugs and/or a noise machine.
- 5/5
Older property but clean! Priced very good !
- 4/5
The Catalina Inn was a complete and relaxing experience!
- 5/5
Staff are so nice. Thank You!
- 4/5
Check-in was a disaster. Check-in paperwork was available but the computer system was down. Took over 20 minutes to get checked in.
- 1/5
This hotel is poorly maintained. The room smelled musty/weird. The curtains were dingy/dirty. The carpet was full of stains and old. Furniture was outdated. There was ants on the bed. The online pictures was false advertisement. My step dad decided to stay since he booked the room. I rented a last minute room for my son, my mom, and I at another hotel.
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
Early check in was appreciated
- 4/5
Better than I expected. Very clean!
- 2/5
I’ve stayed at Catalina Inn several times in the past and found the rooms and condition of the facility at least adequate. This time I was disappointed with a broken microwave and the general rundown condition of both the room and the interior of the motel. If I visit AZ again I won’t be staying there.
- 2/5
Its ok place to just rest and go on your way. Got up a little early for breakfast, but the breakfast was a joke. Not worth it, they should not call it breakfast.
- 2/5
Beds weren’t even made in our room. I think that sums up how the conditions for the rest of the stay. Wouldn’t recommend this location unless you absolutely need a bed for the night, even then, it’s not a great place to stay.
- 4/5
Okay
- 3/5
Very affordable but room and hotel is outdated. Expected more from breakfast.
- 5/5
Quiet
- 3/5
Breakfast was a poor offering of food
- 5/5
The hotel was good, the personal in lobby was nice and helpful! The room was perfect, too comfortable!
- 2/5
Found several cockroaches
- 3/5
The thing that bothered me the most was that we had no room lock. It was broken and we had to resort to putting the tables and chairs in front of the door just for piece of mind. I was a traveling single parent so that was my priority need for the room
- 2/5
Breakfast was awful. If I go to Tucson again, I will spend the money for better accommodations.
- 4/5
Curtains were torn and shredded and paint peeling in bathroom
- 5/5
My favorite place to stay when I work in the Tucson area
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and helpful and the place was clean and in good shape. No complaints there. My only real complaints are, 1) The pool was green with mosquito lava swimming in it. 2) The back entrance didn't lock, which is a bit of a security concern for me. 3) We got to breakfast about 8:30am and there was almost nothing there. Practically everything there were dry-goods and I can't see any good reason it couldn't have been better stocked all the way to 9:00am.
- 5/5
I stayed here after a power outage in my town. The room was clean and comfortable. In much better condition than I had anticipated. There was a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Everything I needed.
- 3/5
The TV picture was never clear.
- 4/5
Easy access.
- 1/5
Got covid before trip ,Paid for insurance and didn’t get a refund. Management didn’t bother answering calls/emails.
- 2/5
2 out of 5 mornings there, the water was shut off at 8am - 3pm. Not good if you want to sleep in on vacation!!!! Very inconvenient. Also, our room was cleaned only once - apparently, they didn't have enough employees.

Good deal

Location, refrigerator, microwave, may not be the most luxurious place but, to stay and do business it is fine. Close to restaurants, stores.
- 4/5
Needed a new shower head.
- 4/5
Watch out for the room taxes. They are sky high! Also I don't remember seeing anything about taxes on your site. Even with your discount the price for the room was high.

Internet did not work. The wife was going to call the desk and the phone was so dirty she cleaned it. Shower handle was ready to fall off. Shower sprayed water all over the bathroom as the head was cracked. Room was very dirty.
- 5/5
The breakfast area is a small, and can only accommodate 4 tables which are usually full.

Location to far from downtown and airport

inconsistency with pet-friendly policy. The website lists the hotel as pet friendly. on arrival, the guest is told that cats are not allowed. The manager is very unpleasant and does not acknowledge any responsibility for the unclear information provided
- 2.5/5
We found multiple items left in the room from the previous occupants.
- 3.5/5
No. It was satisfactory for a short stay ... did not hang out at the inn.
- 2.5/5
It was not prices for what it was and where it was. It was equivalent to a motel 6 at best and so far away from anything that the price should be cheaper. I paid $-- plus tax equally $--- for a room equivalent to a $--- room in walking distance to services
- 3.5/5
I thought it was gonna be better for the suggestion that was used, and the website offered a king and that's what we had selected because thats what we wanted but when we got there they said they din't have it and all they had was 2 queen, false advertise
- 3/5
pillow were lumpy and they did not have any others.
- 4/5
It was a so so hotel, nothing to brag about.

No hot water in shower...just slightly warm no matter how long taps were run
