Reviews
The Avalon Hotel is generally well-liked for its friendly staff, clean rooms, and convenient location. Guests appreciate the boutique style, free water bottles, coffee, and wine, as well as the access to the Hollander Hotel's amenities. However, some guests find the rooms and bathrooms to be small, and parking can be a challenge. There are also some complaints about noise and lack of electrical outlets in the rooms.

Great hotel & great stay! Staff was friendly & attentive.

The staff was great. They served free coffee and cookies in the morning. Happy hour wine and champagne was offered every day. There were free water bottles in the lobby...which was very inviting. Pool, bar, and restaurant next door with excellent service and food!

Always love our stays at the Hollander, so we checked out the Avalon this time. Similar vibe, but a few things would make it excellent. First off, no USB anywhere in the room for charging my phone. Most hotels have added alarm clocks with that feature. And I would have liked a night lite or separate option to light the bathroom that doesn't require the fan running all night. The price and location make it a worthwhile stay for one or two nights.

This boutique hotel was super cute. I was incredibly grateful for onsite parking. The staff was friendly at check in and the tap room next store at the sister hotel was delightful.

Great staff, great food, perfect location. And fun pool party on sundays!

When we arrived, we received a free upgrade to a suite room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made check in and check out seamless. The cleaning lady was super sweet and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. I can definitely see myself returning just because of how nice the staff and property were. Would recommend!

The main hotel is super cute. Our room was clean but I need a little bit of updating. I love that we can use the hotel next door which had amazing drinks and specials.

Lovely old building. Kevin the doorman was great with local knowledge. Also the 5-7 free wine is a nice touch.

Everything was great. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. Pool and restaurant were amazing. St Pete is a fabulous place too visit.

First time staying here, but definitely not the last. Wonderful location, graet room, polite and professional staff.

This is a super cute boutique hotel and I loved that a property from 1930 is still up and running. With that said, this isn’t a modern place and you’re going to have a relatively loud AC in the room (but it did seem to block out almost all of the street noise). I loved that there was easy free parking. I walked next door to the sister property for dinner and it was very good. I saw they had a pool and gym at that property too. I received a fee room upgrade on check-in, which I assume was because I booked through this platform. It’s also walking distance to the new 2nd DCA courthouse, which made it very convenient. Wish it had some breakfast offerings that weren’t sit down, but I’d still stay here (or maybe the sister property) in the future.

We loved staying here. There was wine and champagne between 4-6pm. You can use all the amenities next door at their sister hotel. Parking was no problem. The only thing I would say that was slightly negative was the bathroom size. Overall though, it was a great experience

We did have a nice time little old small bath. Love the bar and restaurant next door. Small bath and smelled musty.

The Avalon is our go to when staying in St Pete. Always clean, friendly staff, and great location near the pier and great restaurants. On site bar, coffee shop and shuttle service are additional amenities that we love!

Parking isn't great. First come first serve is difficult. They do have a free shuttle but you may need to wait about 15 to 20 minutes. Room was clean. Unique decoration is nice.
- 5/5
Room was nice, bed was comfortable, decently cheap for a suite on a Tuesday. Only complaint was the shower lacked water pressure, but it worked well enough.

The Avalon's location is one of its strong points along with its large outdoor covered porch with plenty of seating & shade. Right next door to the Avalon is the Hollander Hotel. The Hollander also has a covered front porch; and a restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner & snacks. There is also a full service bar. We had some difficulty with our a/c unit; the first one froze. I think that's also what happened to the 2nd unit. Since we were in St Petersburg to celebrate our granddaughter's graduation from high school, we spent very little time in our suite other than sleeping. We left early in the morning & didn't return until 8PM & sometimes much later. So we would return to a hot suite when all we wanted to do is take a shower & go to sleep. I must say the staff did their best to make us comfortable; even purchasing a fan so we had 2 floor fans & 1 ceiling fan on one night just to be able to sleep. We spoke to the the General Manager who refunded our money for our stay; we requested one night's refund since we left one day earlier than our reservation. He concluded that he should give us a full refund for our troubles. Yes, we definitely would stay here again even with our experience explained above. This was our 5th time staying here & our 1st time having any problems at all.

I like the BOHO feel of the Avalon and all the employees are just great and helpful

Liked the staff, water access, and coffee shop nearby. pull out couch was terrible and old looking mattress. King bed was very hard. Room does smell stuffy/old but it is an old building. stove is terrible to have buttons that accidentally turn on....should be lock on it. Calamari used to be the best in the whole world but now it's standard and nothing impressive. Waiter asked chef and he said the supply is no longer available. I had for 3+ years the calamari but no more...so sad :(

Love the wine reception. Free coffee in the morning and free water at the desk. Full service restaurant next door at the Hollander. Always a great place to stay!
- 3/5
The hotel location was close to highways and downtown attractions, shopping and restaurants. The style of the hotel and room was fun. The suite was spacious, but the bathroom very tight, sink area had no working room and the shower was broken. Most of the staff were accommodating. In a class of her own, Larissa was totally engaged and enthusiastically tried to anticipate and fulfill every need. The parking lot while free, was very cramped and dusty.
- 5/5
The air conditioning was blowing, and it felt amazing in the hot weather! I think parking was safe, and we had no problems at all. When it comes to the room everything was clean for the most part .We love both hotels so much we wont stay anywhere else, and the staff give the best service through and through!!!

This was great place that was very conveniently located! It was a short jaunt from the beautiful beach front park and pier, as well as delicious restaurants and other attractions. The room was perfect for me as a solo traveler but was big enough for a couple, and I liked that I could enjoy the amenities at the sister hotel next door! I'd definitely come back!

Great place, excellent location and helpful staff.
- 5/5
The property was built in 1930’s, which is noted on their website, so take into consideration in reference to some amenities. They’ve done a great job at upgrading & offering different amenities to make your stay very enjoyable. They’ve added several guest accommodations at no charge, such as happy hours, bottle water, coffee, a free shuttle, free self parking. Front desk staff were always friendly and very helpful. Because the hotel is an older building, rooms are smaller, but again hotel is very transparent in description. Location is very convenient for all downtown activities, restaurants, shopping. We walked everywhere. We will stay again in future & would recommend the hotel for your stay.
- 5/5
MY ANSWER IS: WE STAY HERE OFTEN - AND HAVE BOOKED FOR A FULL MONTH NEXT YEAR.

Highly recommend. Such a gem! Lovely outdoor sitting areas and an incredible veranda. The rooms are clean and spacious. Wonderful bedding and linens. It was hard leaving!!!
- 4/5
Our only complaint is there was no hot water in the shower the morning we checked out.
- 5/5
Can't go wrong with a weekend stay at the Avalon to enjoy downtown St Pete and the Sunday afternoon pool party at the Hollander!
- 5/5
Wonderful little getaway. Location is great with free shuttle. Amenities are awesome as you can use the pool/gym right next door. Free parking. And the looper is close by for getting around downtown.
- 5/5
Wonderful visit to St Petersburg. The Avalon met all expectations. Room clean and comfortable. Additonal amenities at sister hotel next door were very nice as well the restaurant have great food at reasonable price. Patio sesting comfortable. Pool was very nice. All staff were helpful and accommodating. We would definitely stay there again.

- 5/5
Great location, access to all the amenities at the Hollander next door, room was small but cozy and comfortable, nice covered sitting area out front, plentiful free bottled water Hard to find a parking spot, although parking was free
- 4/5
The staff were lovely and helpful. The room was cleaned by the time we returned in the afternoon. I really appreciated that they put us in the quietest area of the hotel. The one thing I may have missed when booking is that the hotel uses window units. This is a personal issue of mine, as I deal with allergies, and air blowing on me at night can be problematic. The bathroom is a bit small for someone of my size, but for a few days, I overlooked it because I felt the space was charming overall.
- 4/5
Nice place, small bathroom and very low shower pressure. Could Carly use. AC unit very noisy at night.
- 5/5
Staff was super friendly and the property was really cool.
- 4/5
Sheets were scratchy bathroom small and air conditioner loud.
- 1/5
I arrived & the "hotel" doesn't look anything like the picture they used as a selling point, The real Avalon is WAY SMALLER, and isn't as modern looking as they advertised. The landscape isn't even the same. I go inside to the front desk & nobodies there. No sign, no bell. I waited 25 minutes for someone to finally show up. He didn't even apologize, he acted indifferent.
- 5/5
The location was awesome! Love the vintage feel it had! The AC was a bit loud
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff! Access to the pool next door is amazing.
- 5/5
Yes air was great. Parking was a little bit difficult.

Nice little hotel with pool and walking distance from the pier. Very clean and friendly staff
- 4/5
The room we had was located next too an outside wall next to a busy street, could hear traffic noise all night. Hard to sleep!
- 5/5
Top notch. Fabulous. I enjoyed everything about. Nice location in a walkable area. Shuttle to the baseball game. The decor. The staff. Access to hotel restaurant next door. A+++. Thank you!
- 5/5
My husband and inwill definitely return
- 5/5
Very charming. Our room was small and the bath was updated. They take pride in keeping the entire property clean! Parking was a bit cramped but sufficient. Will stay there again.
- 5/5
Very nice boutique hotel in great location. Staff was exceptional!
- 3/5
Clean room, very friendly staff. The rooms were quite a bit on the small side for my taste. The price did not justify the value for me. This style of room may work for others, not for my wife and I as we were surprised and disappointed once we opened the door. Bathroom very, very small and cramped.
- 5/5
We had an amazing time at the Avalon. It was comfortable, cozy and all of the staff were friendly. We enjoyed coffee and a drink every night at the Hollander next door. It was quiet and comfortable. It was a very reasonable price which was comparable to the big name hotels nearby. The location was great. We felt safe and we stayed late on the patio with no issues. We walked to many areas or took a short uber where we needed. The shuttle was great and we were able to catch it after a Rays game.
- 4/5
It was a good hotel to stay in while in town to see a Rays game. 20 minute walk to the stadium, but they do offer a free shuttle to the game. Friendly staff and clean hotel. Walking distance to plenty of restaurants and bars downtown.
- 5/5
Great customer service great rooms very nice indoor and outdoor lounge! Complimentary champagne and wine 5-7 !! Also it’s next to the Hollander so you can use their pool along with the restaurant!
- 2/5
Room very small. Layout of bathroom was cramped and inconvenient. No outside view other than a wall from next building over.
- 5/5
We were in town to see the Cubs/Rays game. This was our second time staying there. Wonderful hotel. Close to everything. And shuttle to the Tropicana Field was a bonus!
- 4/5
Rooms are a little smaller than normal
- 5/5
Felt safe and the room felt comfortable.

This was such a neat hotel. We loved the Tap Room at the sister hotel. The food was amazing there. We didn't get to try anything from the bakery, but it all looked wonderful. The pool area and outside bar had a great feel to it too! I would highly recommend the Avalon or the Hollander for anyone visiting St. Pete's.
- 5/5
The staff were very friendly and informative. The building is older but very clean. They proved a shuttle to and from our venue (baseball game). The their sister hotel next door had a nice bar and coffee shop. I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Didn’t about an airport shuttle was told to use Uber. Clean room friendly staff. Lots of stuff nearby
- 5/5
The staff was always so accommodating. The restaurant and bar staff accommodated our large party on the fly and were very gracious!
- 5/5
great location in the city. Parking was available, looked limited but was always able to find a spot. Would definitely visit again.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect- easy walk to the waterfront.
- 5/5
Always found parking at the property. The free wine 5-7 was very nice. Free bottle water also. Staff were very friendly.
- 5/5
We were only there for a short time. The staff were friendly & responsive. The building is older but the rooms were remarkably clean. The location can't be beat. Youre basically a 15min or less walk from everything. All-in-all a very pleasant shirt stay!
- 4/5
Excellent service! Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.
- 4/5
Room was clean and house keeping came everyday. The amenities were great at their sister property next door. Pool and pool bar was very nice. Loved that this hotel had free parking and location was convenient. My only complaint would be the room size was very small but they made up for that with a comfortable bed. I would stay again.
- 5/5
everything was fine
- 5/5
Just a shame wasn’t a longer stay
- 4/5
Definitely have a beach house feel to it. My unit came with a kitchenette which I wasn't expecting and a rather large patio. Would stay again if I was in town.
- 4.5/5
Location was excellent. Staff was most friendly. Wine-in-the-lobby was a nice perk. I wish there were more power outlets in the room.
- 5/5

Nice location. Close to many restaurants, bars and breweries
- 5/5
Clean, safe, comfortable and nicely decorated.
- 5/5
Nothing! It was a wonderful place to stay
- 5/5
Effective modern airconditioning. Clean quiet rooms. This is a classic hotel that lives on. The parking is convenient (except very crowded on Sundays from 23:00-18:00 with the popular Pool Live Entertainment. Worth a visit with the Tap Room next door.
- 5/5
Parking was uncomplicated and free.
- 5/5
Located in th heart of downtown St Pete’s. Easy walking distance to restaurants. I would stay here again.
- 4/5
Avalon & Hollander are a great duo for enjoying poolside while close to downtown. The trolly picks up on the corner if you don’t want to walk. If you need accommodations for more than two the Avalon suites are the only option. Stayed at both properties several time with and without family. They have recently upgraded a suite
- 5/5
Complimentary wine and champagne from 5-7 out in their from patio.
- 4/5
Girl at the front desk check in with super nice super informative and just a super nice personality
- 5/5
Warm, welcoming staff! Loved the happy hour from 5pm - 7pm. Great location to walk to Vinoy Park for the music festival we were attending! Wonderful restaurants within walking distance as well. Only downside was no refrigerator in room but we would definitely stay again and bring a cooler! Highly recommend this property!!!

The tub was dirty.

Plesant staff.
- 5/5
Very clean room. Nice and quiet. Great staff - Ethan was very helpful. 3 night stay, would highly recommend.
- 5/5
What a joy it was to be able to stay here! The staff was welcoming and accommodating and just so nice to be around. The rooms were simple and cozy and very clean, the only downside being that the bed was a little harder than I like, but that is fully a preference, as my partner loved it, so do with that what you will
- 5/5
Usually i leave the car parked and walk most places. The location is perfect for reaching the museums and galleries.

Comfortable king bed, great location and the restaurant were fantastic. We will likely stay there or the sister hotel next door again in the future.

Nice hotel! Free bottles of water and toiletries in the bathroom. Our only disappointment was the shuttle, we waited 20 minutes and eventually just decided to walk.
- 5/5
Room looked just like the photos. Plenty of parking, especially with a big concert going on. Would definitely recommend
- 5/5
The Avalon and its sister hotel, The Hollander are my favorite places to stay when I’m St Pete. I even go to St Pete just to stay on this property. I love it. Highly recommend 👏👏🤗🤗

Room was small but clean. Small bath vanity made it difficult to use (no counter space). Mattress was extremely firm. Mostly the noise was the biggest issue for us. Room next door had kids crying and screaming and across the hall had a dog barking. Not sure what could be done to better muffle noise from other guests.

Cute place, clean and nice staff. The room was very dark without enough lighting. It was facing the street, so it was somewhat noisy from the street sounds. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well until street sounds woke me too early in the morning.

The Air conditioner was too loud and ran non-stop all night. Could not figure out how to change to auto mode. Bathroom tub/shower could use grab bars to assist older guests. Tub was a bit slippery despite raised dots in the tub. Had to be extra cautious. Would have preferred a walk-in shower. Was not allowed to check in before 3 pm and had to be at the Mahaffey Theater at 2 pm so couldn't check in until after 5 pm. Parking lot was almost full. Had to drive all the way to the back and around corner to find a spot on dirt road. Only amenities available at time of check in was free liquor, which was not appealing as a non-drinker of alcohol. If I return to St. Petersburg for an overnight visit, I will probably choose to stay at another hotel. Quaint but not "my cup of tea".

If I return to St. Petersburg for an overnight visit, I will probably choose to stay at another hotel. Quaint but not "my cup of tea".

I love staying here. The rooms are small but comfortable, the staff is friendly and accommodating, the parking is free, and the location is very convenient for jumping on the Looper and getting around town. The afternoon social on the porch is a great way to meet people and share experiences. I always enjoy coming back.

Clean room. Cool vibe. I always try to stay here or the Hollander. Also close to the bay so you can walk anywhere in town.

Very nice hotel. Bathroom was a little small but a good size for one person. The room was clean and the staff were great. Really enjoyed my stay.

I was upgraded to a bigger room which was amazing. This was my first time staying there. I usually stay at the Hollander but from now on I will be staying at the Avalon. The complimentary wine and champagne from 5-7 is also a great bonus. Will definitely be staying there again soon

What a lovely little stay! Great location, can walk to a lot of local bars/eateries nearby. There is a free shuttle service that’ll take you anywhere within 10 blocks of the hotel, and they’ll pick you up too! Steve, the shuttle driver was so kind and gave us great recommendations on what is around town. Our room was clean and very comfy. We will absolutely be coming back to stay.

Staff is very friendly. Coffee with cookies in the morning and happy hour with wine and prosecco in the evening.

Food is very good at reasonable prices. Use of laundry Happy hour and morning coffee
- 4/5
The room was very clean. The staff very accommodating and courteous.
- 5/5
I always choose to stay here when we come to St Petersburg. It is a quiet, slightly quirky hotel with wonderful staff. The compimentary eine in the evening is a nice touch
- 5/5
very clean and the food was good
- 5/5
Great staff. Fun chatting with other guests while sipping complimentary wine. Coffee and water available as well. Nice touch.
- 5/5
Very friendly and clean hotel.Love the place

Clean room, friendly staff.
- 5/5
Staff was great
- 4/5
Staff very good, rooms clean but a little shop worn
- 4/5
My room was very small but clean and the bedding was very comfortable. The closet held an ironing board but no iron. The best feature of this stay was the location, in a charming old part of the city an easy walk to museums and the bay. I also appreciated the morning coffee and the free parking, a rarity in downtown St. Pete.
- 5/5
Another great stay at Avalon. The staff is so friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean, and conveniently located. I look forward to future stays.
- 5/5
Clean, nicely appt!
- 5/5
Awesome
- 5/5
Cute hotel with extremely friendly staff and complimentary wine or champagne for happy hour daily.
- 5/5
This was my first stay but we will definitely be coming back.
- 5/5
Great stay! Clean room, great amenities and close to everything downtown.
- 3/5
Overall, the room was clean but the hotel was old and it was very loud - you could hear everything when you were in the room
- 5/5
No issues
- 3/5
Loved the room. As a NY’er It looked a lot like a nyc vintage feel. Staff was great. Super clean. Hollander is where all the amenities are to enjoy like the pool and the restaurant. More of an older crowd. Cons: Not as spacious for a mini fridge to fit atleast and you can hear the outside noise of traffic if staying in the front area. Overall it was a nice hotel. I would def stay in the summer time rather than winter.
- 5/5
Excellent, staff and room.
- 5/5
A wonderful stay!
- 4/5
quaint
- 5/5
Rooms were very clean. Customer service was extremely accommodating. Highly recommend renting the suites as the regular rooms are small so they happily upgraded us to the suite. They have happy hour free wine and champagne in the lobby each evening. Close to everything downtown, restaurants, dancing, etc. We would highly recommend the hotel.
- 5/5
Clean cute room. Nice extras like coffee bar and free happy hour drink.
- 5/5
Room was smallish but comfy. Free daily wine happy hours on the porch were the highlight. Staff bent over backwards to be helpful. Didn't really make use of amenities at the neighboring sister hotel
- 5/5
Real nice. Great restaurant. Pool. Staff.
- 5/5
Such a cute fun hotel in the heart of St Pete. The pool area is like a resort and the restaurant is great. The mini apartment was terrific. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Everything was great‼️
- 4/5
Good weather good time over all
- 4/5
This would have been a 5-star stay, but a few things brought it down slightly. The bed was not the most comfortable for me, and the pillows were very large, which caused some neck discomfort. Additionally, on the last night of our stay, there was significant noise coming from a nearby room (sounded like furniture being moved or a room being reorganized). I called the front desk around midnight and was told it would be handled, but unfortunately the noise continued until about 1:30 AM. That said, everything else about the stay was great. Check-in was a breeze and check-out was just as easy. The staff was very nice, courteous, and helpful. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. While the bed wasn’t perfect for me, I understand hotel beds are never quite the same as your own at home. The location is excellent — close to everything, with the trolley passing by to easily get around town. A big plus was the Tap Room restaurant attached to the hotel, which we really enjoyed. Overall, a very good stay with a few minor drawbacks, and I would still recommend the Avalon for its location, service, and overall experience.
- 5/5
Spotless room. The BEST hotel pool and even better bar and accommodations.
- 5/5
A great place to stay in downtown St. Petersburg.
- 5/5
This is the sister hotel to the Hollander. Right next to each other and both hotels style the rooms the same. the staff is friendly, free water, they have events you can participate in and you can go to the Hollander next door to eat and I think use the pool, I don't remember. Close to the pier, great location. Just ask for a room on the parking lot side as there is less light.
- 5/5
Good place to stay close to downtown
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
We love the Avalon & Hollander, second time staying in a suite at the Avalon, love its spaciousness and accommodations. Bed is super comfortable! Staff is always so helpful and pleasant. Location can’t be beat - walkable to everything and they run a shuttle on the weekends.
- 5/5
Front desk staff gets an A+ Rating!!! Great people!! Also Dee at the Hollander House bakery is wonderful. Great personality. Everyone there at both places are outstanding! Really enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
We absolutely loved the ambience of this hotel. We usually stay at their sister hotel The Hollander, but they were all booked for the Christmas vacation so we stayed at the Avalon. Both hotels are wonderful and the staff is so friendly and helpful. We were able to use all of the amenities at The Hollander which was great. The swimming pool, pool side bar, and restaurant were all just wonderful. Would definitely stay at either hotel in the future and highly recommend both hotels if you find yourself in St. Petersburg Downtown.
- 5/5
Great staff and resources on.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel and great area to walk and have fun. Staff was excellent. Can’t wait to come back
- 4/5

Clean rooms and updated hotel. Excellent location. The evening receptionist was very friendly, professional and helpful, unfortunately I've forgotten her name. Free on site parking in downtown is a bonus and it's just 2-3 blocks to reach the interstate. Guests can also use the sister hotels's pool, bar and cafe right next door
- 5/5
Upon entering, the presentation of the lobby area was beautiful. The king room was exceptionally clean and well appointed.
- 5/5
Cute hotel with shuttle service and great amenities!
- 5/5
Wonderful stay, loved all the available amenities between the two hotels.
- 5/5
Spacious and quiet
- 5/5
Very clean. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Everyone is always so friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Cool hotel
- 5/5
Let me explain. this is a limited amenity hotel with small standard rooms and cramped bathrooms, BUT they make up for any short-comings in the following ways: -A very reasonable room rate for downtown St Pete. -Complimentary wine reception for guests each evening. -A voucher for a free appetizer from their sister hotel's restaurant next door. -Shared pool with their sister hotel. -Free onsite parking -No resort fee -and while they do not have in-room coffee, they do have morning coffee and a cookie in the lobby. All these things added together made for an excellent stay. If you like older hotels that have been brought back to life ...the Avalon is for you.
- 5/5
Wonderful upgraded room. This is a wonderful property. the coffee shop/restaurant next door offers wonderful options. Quick walk to downtown. They offer a shuttle 10 mile radius. We have stayed here several times.
- 5/5
Would definitely recommend.
- 5/5
Super people Happy hour, always smiles, old, clean with shuttles. Go!
- 4/5
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Avalon with a few small caveats. The hotel staff were friendly and the location was near enough to walk to most sites in downtown St. Pete. The only improvements I would make would to have a coffeemaker and pods inside of the room instead of downstairs for those of us who need coffee before we have to get dressed. Also, a way to charge cellphones next to the bed and not have to search for an outlet clear across the room. The bed, however, was very comfortable and the room was clean, and all things were in working order. Hopefully though you don’t get a loud neighbor as you can hear a lot of noise through the doors. So, not perfection but not a total dud either.
- 5/5
The room was quite humid, but other than that it was a great quick stay.
- 5/5
The one bedroom apt suite was perfect for our getaway! The staff was courteous and attentive. The 5-7pm complimentary happy hour added a sparkle to our bday festivities. We will definetly come back
- 5/5
Great for 1 night
- 3/5
Staff was very courteous. Room was small, dark and overwhelmingly smelled like PineSol. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Hotel next door had great food and drinks.
- 4/5
Staff friendly, walking distance to downtown, on site parking
- 3/5
Definitely not a 9+ hotel! This hotel was clean but it’s old and the updates are cosmetic only. Very tiny bathroom. The “suites” are in a separate building that looks like a motel. All the amenities are located at the hotel next door (The Hollander). It was in a good location and has a shuttle service around town which was nice. Overall it was not worth the price.
- 5/5
Great location. Everything was charming. Walkable area.
- 5/5
I’m just always found this to be the most accommodating place in the whole St. Petersburg area very down to earth unique and good food and drink
- 5/5
Everything was perfect! Clean & sweet stay
- 5/5
Courteous staff and clean room
- 5/5
Very clean, cozy bed, friendly staff
- 5/5
Great staff! Great location! Amazing food and drink, and some serious specials, at the affiliated, adjacent Tap Room. This is an 1930 building, nearly a hundred years old, so, yes, the are fewer electrical outlets in the room, but it's squeaky clean and super comfortable. Just charming, classic basics. We loved it and WILL be returning soon.
- 3/5
Everything was fine but the AC kept overflowing onto the floor and needing emptied which was bothersome. Aside from that fine. Walls a bit thin.
- 5/5
I stayed in a nice suite with kitchen facilities and a patio. I enjoyed a swim & read in their lovely pool area. The staff at the hotel and the restaurant are terrific. Very welcoming experience. The hotel and restaurant well kept and charming. The location is close to museums and the beach and a nice walking area.
- 3/5
We were also woken up by the cleaning staff arguing loudly in the hallway, and overall, the environment felt unprofessional. There were no mini-fridges in the rooms, and when I asked the front desk to store something for me, they directed me to a dirty, cluttered kitchen where my item was nowhere to be found. I’m disappointed, especially given the great online reviews. I’d recommend staying at The Hollander or choosing another hotel entirely.
- 5/5
Great staff, very friendly. Will come back again.
- 5/5
Affordable luxury with so many unexpected little extras that I wasn’t expecting. Room was beautiful and clean and the free parking with this place sets it above all the other hotels in the area. Easy access from the freeway and ideally located for everything St Petersburg has to offer. I can’t even imagine why you would possibly want to stay anywhere else. Don’t consider it, just book it! You’ll be so delightfully glad that you did! Thank you all for taking such wonderful care of me in your little slice of paradise:-)
- 4/5
The location and the pool area was very nice. The rooms smelled moldy and seemed out dated.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing and they absolutely stood out. I really enjoyed the food and the cocktails. If I can give this place more than five stars I would.
- 5/5
The staff was extremely helpful and kind. The food was amazing at the taproom restaurant attached to the Hollander. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely go back.
- 4/5
Nice hotel had a funny smell....
- 5/5
We had a great time. The suite was terrific and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable!
- 5/5
Excellent stay! Rooms are clean and the vibe of both Avalon and Hollander next door is amazing. Can’t say enough about the pool area, so nice! The staff at the pool bar, in particular, are so sweet and helpful. Treated us like we regulars.
- 4/5
Beautiful place, great staff, great location, only negative was bed was uncomfortable.
- 5/5
We’ve stayed here several times, and it’s truly become our favorite in-town getaway. The hospitality is beyond words; every visit feels special, relaxing, and welcoming. The staff always go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. We’ll definitely keep coming back
- 4/5
The concierge was very nice and informative.
- 4/5
Very cool atmosphere…..
- 4/5
Front of house staff very friendly. Room was ok for 1 night, but could not stay in that tiny place for more than tgat.
- 5/5
Rooms were cozy, the front desk was kind, educated, amazingly welcome. Close to everything
- 5/5
Front desk staff was exceptional. Bed 2nd night was broken and leaned down on end but honestly forgot to mention
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 5/5
Love the Avalon and the Holllander
- 5/5
Cozy, clean, friendly staff.
- 5/5
Our suite was in clean up to date condition. the bathroom is a little small but completely up to date and useable.
- 5/5
Fun time! Great pool!
- 5/5
停车还是有点困难
- 5/5
The room outdated but cute and cozy. It felt like I was in a cottage.
- 5/5
Always a pleasant stay.
- 5/5
Staff was very accommodating when I asked for a room without carpet. I really appreciated the time and care shown to me when I checked in. The room was great and checking out was a breeze. Thanks!
- 2/5
Good staff but rooms are not good and you have to step over the toilet to exit shower
- 4/5
Rooms are alil dated definitely cant do work in rooms ..crowd is mature in age...sunday pool event was cool...
- 5/5
great location, great place
- 3/5
Guest going in and out of rooms doors slam shut. TV in room had audio no video offered another room to late in night to change we delt with it.
- 5/5
It was a great day. Beds are very comfortable. The place was clean. Guest services was very kind and told me everything that I had around my area and everything pretty much was close by that you can walk. Will definitely stay there again
- 5/5
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Avalon!! It definitely won't be my last time. Everything was lovely! The staff was very friendly and my stay was quiet and peaceful. I dined twice at the sister hotel's restaurant right next door at The Hollander. He food was delicious and atmosphere and server was great. I was there on business and thoroughly enjoyed my stay, the complimentary bottled water, tea and coffee time daily, and happy hour every evening were also nice perks and very relaxing. My mattress was comfortable and I slept well! This hotel has an eclectic charm and lots of character and downtown. I highly recommend it!
- 5/5
The hotel is super cute, and the service is phenomenal! This was our second time staying here, and we will definitely stay here again. Plenty of restaurants and shops are within walking distance. As they are sister properties, you also have use of the pool at the hotel next door. The pool bar is amazing, with plenty of food and drink options!
- 5/5
So cute
- 5/5
We come to STP just for this hotel experience. Pool, shuttle, and close location and walking distance to everything downtown.
- 5/5
Always a great time!
- 5/5
Amazing hotel. The decor was so cute. We enjoyed the outdoor porch at night, relaxing on the comfy couches afternoon champagne cocktail hour from 5 to 7 was a treat. Beds were super comfortable amazing breakfast next-door at their sister hotel, the Hollander we could walk to the Palladium to see our concert on Saturday night. It was a fabulous birthday weekend and free shuttle service anywhere within St Pete.
- 4/5
Nice pool in the adjoining hotel had a lively vibe with bar. Very handy to hop on the free tourist bus to get to anywhere in downtown.
- 3/5
The room is very small.
- 2/5
Floorboards were very uneven and could feel it through the carper
- 5/5
Great service, friendly staff.
- 4/5
The room was very clean. Bed was comfortable. Bit of a musty smell because it was an older building. Reasonably priced for the area.
- 5/5
Great people there. Enjoyed the stay.
- 5/5
It was a nice place to stay
- 3/5
is very small and kinda shabby so at the hotel. For $100 for a night it’s better to do hotel which is next door. We stayed one night before it was much nicer experience.
- 4/5
Great location to downtown St. Pete. Perfect little spot for a weekend getaway at this little boutique hotel.
- 5/5
Very clean, reasonably priced, had a full kitchen. Cool vibe with a nice bar/restaurant right next door that had good food and great happy hour specials.
- 5/5
Good, safe, quiet, convenient place. Excellent staff. Cheerful environment. Clean. Fulfills promise.
- 4/5
Enjoyed the stay.
- 5/5
Best place in town
- 5/5
Nice folks at the counter and at yhe pool
- 5/5
Unique
- 5/5
Great hotel with cool vibes!! We ate breakfast and dinner at the Tap House attached to the Hollander hotel, food and desserts were awesome
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Great location, free, on-site parking, friendly staff, very clean, we had a very nice dinner at the taproom next-door, which is part of the same hotel. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The room is very small, especially the bathroom, but we were only there for one night. I probably would not recommend it for long stays.
- 4/5
We usually stay at the Hollander next door (same owner) and this time decided to try the Avalon. Loved the funky lobby decore and daily hour. Found it more laid back and quieter than the Hollander given there is ko bar or restaurant. My only minor complaint is that the room could use more lighting. It’s a bit dark specially when you are trying to apply make up. Location is great. You can park your car and walk everywhere in downtown St Pete.
- 3/5
The biggest complaint...the room had no accessible power outlets in the main sleeping/living area. Unable to charge cell phones. The closet had no light. The A/C unit is wall mounted and noisy.
- 4/5
Great stay nice pool
- 1/5
Wired , old, unsecured , dirty
- 5/5
Great spot near downtown
- 5/5
Great service and amenities. I always love staying here.
- 5/5
Everything was great. Staff, location hotel.
- 5/5
A very comfortable place to stay. Restaurant food and drinks are great and reasonable priced. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
A very nice place to stay in downtown St Pete! Friendly staff, beautiful rooms and free parking
- 5/5
I've stayed here before. Really nice and clean. Very comfortable. Feels safe. Nice aesthetic. The free water bottles is cool. Also the fact that they do a courtesy call to see when you're checking in to let you know where to go after hours is great and top tier! Would chose this place any day!
- 2/5
old rooms that they made to look nice but still aren’t the best. i sat down in the middle off the bed and the bed caved in like i weighed 300 pounds
- 4/5
We were located just off the lobby and across from the elevator so maybe not the best location for quiet. However, the coffee station was right out our door! :) Enjoyed our meals at the Hollander next door. Overall would recommend - parking was a bit of a problem. It’s a popular place. Free but not always in close vicinity to front door.
- 5/5
Like boutique
- 5/5
Great stay! Beautiful decor 💯
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay. The Avalon was the perfect location for our trip. It was central to all the things we wanted to do. We felt safe and the area was clean and quiet. The front desk staff were super friendly and detailed perfectly all the amenities the Avalon had to offer. Parking was easy, room access was easy, room was clean and cozy. We’d definitely stay again
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 1/5
Great
- 5/5
Our stay at the Avalon was excellent. From the staff to the restaurant everyone was very friendly. Good food next door as well!
- 1/5
The rooms are very old, dingy and dirty. Left after 1 hour of checking in.
- 4/5
.
- 5/5
Great welcoming staff, our suite is nice and clean. Enjoying our time here.
- 5/5
Retro like South Beach.
- 4/5
The price is great and the staff were helpful. The room is a bit dated and the air conditioner and ceiling fan made noises making it a challenge to get good rest.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed our stay. We had to be in the area for appointments and it was very convenient and had a lot of amenities I was not expecting. The free parking and pool were great perks! I will say the hallways and noise level was a bit loud, didn't seem much in the way of noise prevention. If we stay again we might try a higher floor to see if that helps.
- 5/5
Very cute boutique style place! Lots of character. The guys at the front desk when I checked in was very nice and helpful. The amenities are next door but literally a few steps away. Nice clean pool with a bar. Restaurant and pool etc are next door so all the hustle and bustle is over there are my room was quiet comfortable and there wasn't 100 people running in and out at all hours. So if you want to be directly in the mix with the pool coffe shops restaurants in your actual hotel with people all over the place I'd say stay next door but if you want to relax and have a quiet peaceful place to get away, chill and get good sleep, stay at the Avalon. I definitely will be back. Also my room and bathroom were spotless. I definitely recommend it.
- 5/5
Great location. Friendly staff. Next to Hollander with pool and dining.
- 5/5
Loved the retro style lobby and the pool at the Hollander was a nice treat!! Staff was friendly and respectful
- 3/5
Front Desk Staff, not overly friendly . Didn’t offer any insight of what to do or what was happening around the area. He was consistent for all 3 days. Parking was a challenge, pool party at the Hollander use a lot of the parking area for the weekend, ugh!
- 5/5
Enjoyed my stay. Nice and quiet location within walking distance of the pier in st. Pete!
- 5/5
Nice boutique property with good amenities. We love staying here when visiting St. Pete.
- 3/5
I was told the reason I'm paying so much is because I have a kitchenette which consists of a small refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was extremely small.
- 5/5
Very cute boutique hotel.
- 4/5
Good value. Clean property, nice staff.
- 5/5
If i could give this hotel more than 5 stars i would!! It is the CUTEST, most beautifully decorated boutique hotel and so close to everything! The front desk staff and restaurant/bar staff are AMAZING! Check in/out were so easy. Coffee in the lobby in the mornings, a little special treat in the evenings. Coffee shop and full restaurant and bar (check out their daily specials) nextdoor. There is spa, pool and gym access. Patio and lobby area for sitting in the AM and/or evenings (take a good book or maybe some card games). A shuttle that will take you within 10 blocks but it is walking distance to pretty much everything and there is other transportation in the area (bus, trolly) as well. FREE parking! We will definitely be staying again!!
- 5/5
Great experience!
- 1/5
Staff was rude, no parking, and bathroom wasn’t made for normal sized people
- 4/5
The reception staff was excellent. Clean, but could have been better. Excellent location. I'll be back.
- 5/5
Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anybody looking to stay in Saint Pete. Outstanding staff from the front desk all the way to the cleaning staff. Thank you again for another outstanding stay.
- 5/5
Very cute! Loved this stay
- 4/5
All was great. Champagne in porch at 5:00.
- 5/5
We had a great visit, we arrived a little early. The lobby is quaint, I was immediately greeted by Brian. He was very kind, let me know about parking, the amenities and wine and champagne a little later in the afternoon. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfy with great pillows. Parking wasn't a problem.
- 5/5
Fabulous establishment in downtown St. Pete. Great pool and bar area with a restaurant next door at its sister hotel the Hollander.
- 5/5
This time I had a concern which I prefer to address privately for now but could definitely change my future stays.
- 5/5
Honestly the best hotel I've ve stayed at! Right in downtown st pete with so much things to do in walking distance! Suite was like a little studio and very well kept. The employees were a delight to conversate with. The only complaint is parking due to the amount of guests from 2 hotels who share it with limited space.
- 5/5
Did not realize that suites at the Avalon were in a separate building further from the Hollander hotel. They were very accomadating and moved us to a suite in the Hollander. 5th time there and always love it. Had a group of 9, birthday party. All super enjoyed pool, dining room and bar with lots of specials. Will always go back. Staff is superb.
- 5/5
Great location even better staff the ladies running the pool cabana absolute sweethearts. Highly recommend this place second time there and didn't disappoint.
- 5/5
Super cute boutique hotel. Staff is friendly and helpful. Front porch could have used a cleaning. Guests above us moving furniture and loud for several hours after midnight.
- 5/5
Great location, great staff, great pool area, location is great to go anywhere by bike or walking.
- 5/5
Great location and great vibe.
- 5/5
This hotel was amazing and the staff provided beyond excellent customer service. We stayed at the Avalon for four days to celebrate our birthday and wedding anniversary. The hotel left a complimentary bottle of champagne in our room which was a surprise for us. They also had a wine/champagne hour everyday for guest and a lovely sister property with a beautiful pool, bar and restaurant called the tap room. I also like that you had to be over 25 years of age to book and there weren’t really any kids running around the hotel. It’s in the downtown area close to everything and they’re close to public transportation (trolley or sunrunner) which can get you to the beach or other stores. We would definitely recommend this hotel others and come back again

I checked out all the hotels around this area before deciding to go with this one. This one was by far the nicest not only was it nice it was the cheapest I was very impressed the lady at the front was very friendly and welcoming the room was clean and put together the overall atmosphere was just great. The check in lobby was super cool too definitely recommend and if we go back to this area, definitely stay here again.

Small hotel, with paid parking. People who weight 300 pounds will not fit in the shower or the toilet. Room was very small.

Cool vibe! Appreciated the complimentary champagne each evening. Open use of the next door hotel pool & restaurant was really great!

The hotel is adorable, however, upon checking into my room I noticed that the window was leaking and splashing all over the blinds, curtains, table, and carpet. It was raining fairly hard, but this water was coming through the wood window trim and not the window itself. The room did smell slightly musty, so unsure of how long that window had been leaking into the carpet for.

Everything about this hotel was lovely - the staff (thanks for all the water bottles!), ambiance, helpful assistance, and it was ever-so-clean with amazing linens. I would, without a doubt, stay here again in the future.

The location was perfect. It was super easy to check in and check out and everyone was very nice… That being said the bed was as hard as the ground… The pillows in the blanket blankets were nice. I swear there was a light on in every corner of the room whether it was from the AC unit or the light outside or the light in the bathroom, you can hear every movement whether it’s a door shutting someone whispering (literally) someone walking, the elevator dinging…. it just wasn’t very cozy or comfy or relaxing. luckily I was just there to sleep. Which was difficult.

We were greeted warmly, and the property has a very cool vibe. Was not expecting to have to pay in advance at front desk, but was not a big deal. We were celebrating an anniversary and they had champagne in the room for us, which was very nice touch. The room and the bathroom were clean and comfortable. We did have access to the sister hotel next-door to utilize their pool, which was wonderful. Bar had lots of options and was happy that there were not a lot of children. The next morning, we enjoyed a really fantastic breakfast on the patio of the sister hotel. Great service great food great time! We will be back!

The property was great. The pool and bar area were awesome. The restaurant was nice. The mattress was terrible. One of the worst mattresses I’ve ever slept on. A king size mattress and you could feel every movement the other person made. Neither of us are overweight either so that wasn’t an issue. After tossing and turning all night because I couldn’t get comfortable my back has hurt all day. Maybe it was just this room. I can’t imagine with as good as the reviews were on this place that all the mattresses are that bad.
