Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its location, design, and staff. However, there are some recurring complaints about the price, lack of amenities, and issues with room cleanliness and maintenance.
- Great location in Silver Lake
- Beautiful and well-appointed rooms
- Overpriced for the amenities provided
- Inconsistent room cleanliness and maintenance

Thank you, Miguel and Amber, whose professional yet personable approach at the front desk gave me the time and thought to write the officiant speech for the wedding that brought me to Silver Lake. Nothing about the hotel, but I may have forgotten my coat and dustcover in the room's closet. Did housekeeping find anything? Either way, thank you!

We booked the Silver Lake Pool and Inn for a one-night stay to celebrate a birthday. Four of us stayed in the the queen double room and we all absolutely loved it! The view of the hills and the neighborhood were gorgeous. We loved the furniture and design (it felt like a hip and groovy house) and the beds were comfy. We asked for a quiet room and were accommodated, no noise issues to report! Reesee and Perla checked us in, and they were sweet and very helpful and thoughtful. The valet service was excellent and friendly as well. We loved the pool area, which also had a fabulous view. Cocktails and wine at the bar were lovely, too. Hotel was also a quick walk to lots of great coffee shops and restaurants. Highly recommend!

Great location and really nice hotel and friendly staff. Pool was great. Not worth the money - way over priced. The furniture in the room looked nice but wasnt actually usable as furniture, so good luck sitting on the chair. Best yet was the toilet seats are cheap plastic. I am a big guy but definitely not fat and the seat just broke. Then there was the smoke detector over my side of the bed that was blinking red all night. The kicker was that we like to watch TV before bed and they only had basic cable. WTF. Who watches basic cable any more. What was even more messed up was that they disable all of the smart feature of the TV to stream your own shows. Again, is it worth the $400 to $600 per night - absolutely not. Definitely wont return.

My hotel room was so clean and bright and decorated in such a fabulous way that I felt welcomed as soon as I walked into my room. The young lady that welcomed me to the Hotel was so sweet and so helpful and made me feel like I was home. ALL the staff were of a very high calibre, always smiling and full of calm energy. Breakfast was outstanding especially the avocado toast which was the best I have ever had. The location of the hotel was perfect as I was able to walk to bars and restaurants with ease and no fear. Because of the calm kind vibes it made all the guests that I met were very relaxed. Pool area was very pretty and clean. The whole experience was perfect and I look forward to staying there again when I next visit my family. Well Done to all.

Clean room, great location in walkable area next to Erewhon and close to many cafes, shops, restaurants etc. by LA standards. Lovely pool area and food at the onsite restaurant is also lovely. A great stay I would definitely return to.

Fabulous design and vibe, great room, pool and terrace. And location. Small, but annoying things: Wifi not working on iPhones, no pool bed mattresses if a cloud in the sky, no restock of coffee capsules in the room and lousy wine and beer selection in the restaurant.

Cons: ran out of TP and tissue; the bathroom vanity isn’t in the bathroom it’s on the other side where you sleep so if you have an early riser who wants to wash hands or brush teeth light goes on and wakes you up. Table between 2 queen beds way too small for two people to use. No luggage rack to put luggage on; no dressers so actually no real place to put luggage and small closet. It’s a boutique hotel so no desk etc. I enjoyed my time on the property when I was there and servers were all lovely to deal with

Cool boutique hotel in the Silver Lake neighborhood at Sunset and Santa Monica Boulevard which is trending up with lots of cool restaurants, boutiques and a farmer's market all within a few blocks.

Nice décor, pleasant bar & restaurant, attractive small pool It's pricy for what you get. Abundant "extra" expenses, e.g., $38 for parking, $30 "resort fee," (It's not a resort.) $12 for a bottle of water in the room, etc. Small signage. Took some driving around the block to find the valet.

The only thing that I thought would be an improvement would either be a set of drawers in the room or at least one of those foldable suitcase racks to more easily access clothes.

The room size, layout, and design are incredible. the cork floors, terrazzo sinks, tiled window ledge, plants, etc. All so thoughtful, and everything is so crisp and new feeling. The mini nespresso machine is a perfect touch. Marco Polo is a great restaurant. The focaccia with tomato compote is insane, as is the cacio e pepe and the vongole. I had a lovely martini there as well. These are truly minor issues... The sound isolation between rooms (and floors) could be better. You can hear neighboring toilets flushing and the murmuring of people speaking in the adjacent rooms. A Bluetooth speaker to connect your phone to to play music in the rooms would be a nice addition. I wish that tiled window ledge had a space to sit at, to work, or to eat. A table or desk is the one thing missing. The closet light should turn off when the door is shut, not on a timer. Could use a coat hook/s right after you exit the entry to hang jackets and clothing. It would be amazing if there were a few spa amenities on offer, but now I'm reaching!

Nowhere to unpack your clothes ( no drawers or shelves), no hooks in the bathroom to put towels, no tv info, basically no help from anyone. The bed was comfortable, the room was super clean and the restaurant was really good but pricey. The whole experience was overpriced.

We paid a fortune for a room and they offered us a late check out which was really nice. We are getting married in two days and we have family in town sleeping everywhere at our place. Kids running around from the early morning. We just needed a quiet night and a chance to sleep in to 9:30/10. This hotel was an expensive HUGE mistake. They started doing construction between 7 and 8 AM in the room above us. We could hear furniture being dragged and knocked over and hammers pounding and it was awful. For three hours, we endured it with earplugs and pillows over our head. The front desk was useless when we mentioned it to them. Their response was oh we can waive the $30 resort fee. What resort? We arrived at 8:30 and everything was closed. We had to walk to a bar down the street just to get a drink before bed. I don’t think I’ve ever been angrier with how disrespectful it was to offer a $30 waiver on a resort fee when we had such an awful experience. There’s some serious training that needs to happen with the front desk staff that they think that something like that is OK. Again, avoid this place at all costs. They clearly only want your money and they don’t give a crap about your experience.

Ideal location. Spacious room. Lovely pool. Great on-site restaurant. There was a pool party on July 4 that was not advertised to us in advance. One of the main reasons we selected this property was the pool, so it was a little disappointing that the pool was totally overrun for one of the days of our long weekend stay.

This hotel was in a great location close to many great shops and restaurants. The on site restaurant Marco Polo was also really good. Service could have been better. There was a rooftop event one afternoon and it is amazing how many people can fit into that pool. But even without the events going on pool service was lacking and they were out of towels at one point. I also didn't get any "VIP Access Hotel" in-stay perks. But I would stay again for the great location. Room was also nice and not too small for my husband and I.

- Very lively, trendy area with lots of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, shopping, and of course Erewhon. - Staff was very friendly, valet was reasonably priced at under $40 a day and we never waited more than a couple minutes for our car. - AC in the room worked very well (essential in the summer). - Pool was busy in the afternoon, but is open until 10 pm. - Housekeeping skipped our room, which was disappointing since we had stopped by the front desk to confirm they would be coming by. Front desk waived the resort fee for the inconvenience, which we appreciated. - There are no facial tissues in the room, and the toilet paper is sooo rough. Very strange for a hotel that uses Diptyque toiletries. - If you're on the bottom floor of the hotel, expect to hear people walking around in the rooms above you.

Friendly staff and great location if you like Silverlake in LA. The resort fee was not clearly disclosed during booking, and it added an unexpected charge to my stay. I believe hotels should be upfront about all fees from the start to avoid surprises. Honesty and transparency go a long way in providing a better guest experience.

We only stayed one night, a Monday, but we were upgraded to a suite, which was very nice. The room was lovely, the bed comfortable, the Diptyque toiletries were great, and the fact that we were able to get a pool pass for the full next day was wonderful. I would very happily stay here again! Truly I have no complaints!

This is a very cozy, stylish hotel. I love the pool, breakfast restaurant (didn't care for the dinner menu). It's conveniently located within walking distance to other restaurants, Erewhon. I like the feature they use to text the front desk for anything you need. They need doors on the shower, and to change the shower heads/ water pressure. The shower is always cold without a door to keep the heat/steam in, and the water pressure is so low that it is hard to wash & rinse you hair.

Nice little find with plenty to do within walking distance. The already small pool becomes much smaller with day pass-non-hotel guests and perhaps a luggage rack or bench or someplace to put your luggage on might be a nice addition. But enjoyed the large chic room & updated bath; although the platform bed and my shin had a not-so-nice moment. Ouch.

I love the hotel and the style is great. The service is not good though. The restaurant lost my credit card and I ended up cancelling it after a full day of not being able to locate it, but when I went to check out the next day they had found it. I thought they handled it poorly and communication between staff and the guest was awful.

Great vibe. Cool design. Great location. 1. Either have towels at the pool or provide pool towels at the room. Frustrating to wait around 30 minutes for a towel to take a morning swim. 2. Towels in room— exactly 2. Felt rationed. 3. Live the mid century vibe. TV in room needs to be a few inches higher so you can see the screen over your feet while in bed. 4. Since so many folks are smoking weed, and there is an enveloping skunk smell, maybe establish a defined smoking area. 5. Coffee machine in room but no coffee pods ( lavender tea for breakfast?)? 6. Lounge/pool area room key access not working so need to run down to lobby to get someone to let you in… every time. Seems as if there must be a better solution.

Great little restaurant, small pool. Not located anywhere near anything walkable except The Eagle. That's it. Walls are paper thin and the floors aren't carpeted-only small rugs, so if you're on floor 1 or floor 2 you'll hear EVERYTHING -walking, talking, phone calls and even snoring. That's how thin the walls are that's how poorly insulted the floors are. Extremely overpriced for what you get. I'd spend the same and go west to Beverly Hills or Westwood. I've stayed here a few times and have learned my lesson. Not worth it.

If you're going to The Eagle-this hotel is right next door-otherwise you're really not walking distance to anything. Great little restaurant and bar and pool. But the big problem is that the walls are paper thin, and you can hear everything that is going on above or beside you. The floors have small rugs, but they still allow for you to hear every step, phone call, conversation that happens above you including snoring. I've stayed here a few times, and the only way I'd go back is if I was confirmed the top floor. But I won't return. The hotel is pricey and doesn't offer the value to price. For the same price you'd get Way more heading west to Beverly Hills or Century City, then take an Uber to Silver Lake if you want to investigate this great part of town.

The pool is a bit smaller than we expected for it to be the heart of the hotel and it gets CROWDED fast, with not a ton of shade even with the umbrellas. You have to request housekeeping, which is fine, but not something they shared up front. But the rooms are clean with a ton of space. A couple of odd things, with so much space there are no storage areas at all for your clothes or bags other than a very small closet that would only hold a few things on top of the safe. But the room has enough space to put things where you need to. It's a lovely little spot in a super fun part of town, we'll definitely stay here again.

I hesitated posting a negative review but I found the service with the manager to be a little off putting. The hotel itself is so so. Very noisy if you’re on the street side (I could hear cars driving all night) and the walls are very thin (I could hear the room next to us partying all night and they weren’t that loud but coming and going all night long. I could hear their conversations. The hotel looks better online than in person. Definitely an Instagram job. It’s an old motel with a quick paint job and some houseplants. The ubiquitous turntable was the only thing missing. Pool is small and crowded. Bathroom is funky as sink is in the main room not in the bathroom. But what was really annoying was after I requested to check out a day earlier (I endured 2 awful nights’ sleep but had to leave town earlier than anticipated) and was given permission by the front desk (all of whom were very nice and friendly), the general manager Gilbert refused to grant me my refund until I groveled and kissed his a**. Very much amateur hour to go along with the amateur hotel. I wouldn’t recommend given the price. It seems very expensive for what it is. I would recommend other hotels in Silver Lake.

Great little property. Love the rooms but they need to fix the bathroom doors (at least the one in 104)--it's way too hard to open and close. Maybe it needs to be oiled? There was leftover food in the fridge when we checked in, and that really grossed me out. Other than that, it's really a nice place and I'll stay again. The restaurant is amazing.

Rooms are well decorated. The bathrooms aren't practical as the sink is out of the toilet and there is no privacy on the bathroom door.

This property is a hidden gem. The renovation is beautiful and tasteful. The bar/restaurant was great. Wish I had the recipe for the delicious cucumber and avocado salad. My room was comfortable and nicely furnished. My only complaint was the noise. I could hear other guests moving around in the hallway and the room above me. Not sure if it was noisy guests (so a one-time thing) or just bad insulation which would make it an ongoing problem. I moved from a hotel that was close by but felt less safe and it was well worth the effort and extra expense.

I booked the hotel for four nights, arriving on a Sunday in blistering heat, looking forward to the pool. I arrived to find the max occupancy of 19 pool crammed with 30 or 40 people. Perhaps 100 were in the pool area. These were not guests but day trippers. You could see the water was not really clean and I was told I should wait several hours for it to be shocked. The hotel also skimped on basics: No drawers anywhere, tiny mirror in bathroom and small waste paper baskets in bathroom but none elsewhere AND no stand on which to put one's suitcase---I was told these were only available upon request. Really? Lots of small things....besides hot water took a long time at my end of the building and noisy nighttime deliveries to the next door supermarket. The poor staff had to deal with stupid cheap decisions of the owners/management

Extremely thin wall, we could hear the room next door’s conversation entirely, really poor insulation. I asked for a fan and they didn’t have. There’s no breakfast and no gym. So essentially a nice hostel with a nice pool and restaurant. In a very convenient area for Silver Lake and exploring that part of LA and close to Griffith observatory. The best thing about this stay was Carlos the valet. Truly fantastic guy!

They mentioned that it was not safe to park our car on the street in front of the hotel overnight because there have been multiple car break-ins. Wasn't sure if they just wanted me to pay for parking but it worked. I'm from NYC, so the roach and car break-ins didn't phase me and I actually had a pretty nice stay.

Overall a good choice for Silver Lake. The bathroom light sensors were a bit jarring at night, and the lack of drinking water (save for the minibar options) are the only real quibbles I have.

Rarely was there staff present at desk at normal hours of operations. Staff was quite cold if not rude during basic interactions. Window shades were broken. No flat sheet on bed. Only drinking water provided was an inordinately expensive add on cost. Refrigerator not cold. Incredibly expensive for the level of service and amenities provided. Would not recommend. Will not be back.

This is by far the best hotel I’ve stayed at . The rooms are large as is the bathroom . It is spotless and beautifully maintained . I love the pool and the food at the Marco Polo restaurant is excellent . What makes this hotel especially unique is Gilbert the hotel manager , Miquel and Yun . Every request was taken care of . I cannot commend this hotel enough . In addition , it’s only a few blocks away from Sunset Blvd !

The property itself is stunning. The restaurant staff was super friendly and lovely. Conveniently located next to main area of Silverlake. Room design is beautiful and the rooms are very spacious. Con's: If you are a light sleeper, I would highly suggest sleeping on the side of the hotel that isn't on the Santa Monica Blvd side. It is loud being next to a grocery store and I was awoken every morning (around 5am) by delivery trucks and cars flying by throughout the night. I didn't love that they charged for water for the room and the hotel didn't have a water station anywhere. There were a few days when coffee pods weren't refilled. Additionally, the mugs used for the Nespresso are too small, and the coffee pours over every time.

The hotel is in an excellent location, restaurant is also very good, although menu selections were few. The hotel rooms are nosy facing the street because of the close proximity of the front of the hotel to the street and very thin walls in-between rooms, heard guests talking and "OTHER" activity in next room. This is our 2nd time staying at the hotel and it was very disappointing from our first stay, we had no housekeeping services for our 3 night stay even though we left the housekeeping services sign on our door each time we left the room for our day. We informed the front desk and they were very apologetic, but it happened each day thereafter. I think next time, we will stay in an Air BNB.

One robe for two of us. Everything was cheap. Desk clerks did not provide our check out statement so we have no idea what we have been charged. Finally we were charged a $45 a night resort fee. I am okay about paying a resort fee but we were NOT provided robes or towels for the pool or a safety box or anything that we were charged a fee for. In fact service was so poor, it is unfair to charge a fee and it is really bad business to do so.

This hotel has excellent staff, especially the man and women at the check-in/registration desk. They were so kind and helpful at all times. The hotel room is stylish and spacious and comfortable, with an LA MCM design aesthetic. The bed is super comfortable with comfortable linens. Nice pool. All in all, great stay!
- 5/5
We were pleasantly surprised at this little diamond of a hotel. The rooms are beautifully designed. The thoughtful touches like a perfectly designed bar set up with fun snacks and room goodies. The drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) were on point. Bed was comfortable and so were the pillows. The bathroom was huge and I liked having a big sink area in the room (not the bathroom). Staff at front desk and at valet were so nice and helpful. We particularly enjoyed the restaurant attached. Get the eggplant dish. Just amazing. Drinks are wonderful too. A real gem- not to miss! We swam in the pool in the evening- we were the only only ones there. It was a coolish night but not if you are from WA state. Pool area is small but again, beautifully designed. I think the bar area by the pool was hopping the next day but we didn't have time to visit. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely room and grounds. Welcoming staff (Moon) at late check in.

I moved rooms. I was put right next to the staff room where things were banging around and you could also hear the hallway and doors, people talking from inside the room. When I did complain they sorted it very quicklY. Even in the new room I could still hear the hallway and people.

Odd design of rooms. Uncomfortable chairs. Platform bed with mattress too small so you it shifted all the time and you whacked your leg. Heavy sliding door to bathroom which did not close correctly and left a gap. Shower had partial glass closure but it more like a third than a half and water went everywhere. Rarely anyone at the front desk and no one answered the phone. And so overpriced you wished you had just gone to the Hampton Inn in nearby .Hollywood. The positives: pleasant staff.

I was charged $318.85 (room charges) I did not make. When I called to find out why I was charged, the man I spoke to said is was a “mistake” & that they would reverse the charges. His reasoning for the mixup didn’t make any sense whatsoever. He said they accidentally charged my card when they were switching cards. Didn’t make sense. Honestly felt like they probably accidentally charge people on their deposits all the time and people don’t notice. Definitely makes me not want to stay here again. Check your bill very carefully.

Fantastic option of dining in or going to Erewhon next door just steps away. Everything was spotless!

I stayed here in 2020 right after they opened and I was pleasantly surprised that two years later, this hotel is still a great stay. Location is fantastic and unique. Room is comfortable. The on site restaurant was closed for renovations which wasn't properly communicated but they credited me for the issues I had when an order accidentally went through.
- 5/5
The hotel is right in Silver Lake downtown LAX and the room is very big and clean.
- 3/5
We liked the pool and pool area. The rooms need to be changed to meet the needs of many different types of travelers. There was no ice machine. The rooms should have double sinks for the bathroom and placed inside the bathroom. There should be a mounted makeup mirror. There should be a way to get coffee or tea before 8:00 am and parking should not be $45/night.
- 4/5
We stayed one night. We got a one room with king and room was clean and cozy. We needed extra pillows because I'm 28 weeks pregnant and asked twice for 4 extra pillows (there were three of us in the room) and they would only bring us one. That bothered me. They offer hand towels as wash cloths, that was weird. We didn't have time to try the restaurant but I noticed that a sign said you must be fully vaccinated to eat there. Which was disappointing. Especially not knowing that ahead of time when booking. The hotel had a unique style which was like 80's/boho/tribal I don't even know what to call it. Not my taste but it was fun for a night. We left early about 6:45am snd there was no valet working yet so we had to go get our own car which was not a problem, however we still paid for valet which was a problem. Bed was comfortable and room was overall quiet (it was a Monday evening) but there was a noise all through the night that sounded like someone in high heels walking back and forth. At first I thought it was, but it was a repeated pattern of noise all night long so I think it must have been something else creating the noise and not a person. That disturbed my sleep a bit.

Started out wonderful. Was doing a staycation for my partners 40th bday. All was great until the next morning we went down for breakfast and chatted with the front desk agent. She even said ‘hope you get to enjoy the pool’ but the service, as usual, is so incredibly AWFUL at the restaurant we sat for 2 hours to get drinks, eat and pay the bill. I had to beg a busboy for the bill. As we were heading back to the room the front desk agent said checkout was 90 minutes ago and we had to leave or pay $100 extra (and still have to leave). My fault for not knowing the checkout time, but the hotels fault for seeing us go to breakfast and not reminding us, not checking on us in the restaurant and then giving us 10 minutes to check out. Think the 2nd SATC movie when charlotte said she couldn’t be ready in time and Samantha said you’d better have $22000 a night then! That’s how it felt. Poorly handled and really a sad end to an otherwise great time. Happy 40th babe! This is the 3rd time here with issues so it’s sadly, most likely my last.

Would most definitely visit again. RT, NYC

Wow. This hotel was perfection. The room was beautiful, service was wonderful, the pool was lovely. It's a perfect little neighborhood hotel in a part of LA that desperately needed one. I come to town multiple times per year for work and fun. This will be my new go-to!
