Sonesta Select Scottsdale at Mayo Clinic Campus

We had a wonderful stay. The staff was incredibly kind and flexible, and they allowed us to check in early for a very reasonable $30 fee, which was especially helpful during a stressful medical trip. One of the best amenities was the complimentary shuttle service to the different hospital campuses, making it easy to get to appointments without worrying about transportation or parking. The room was clean and comfortable, and the convenience and hospitality made a difficult time much easier. I would definitely recommend this property to other travelers, especially those visiting the hospitals.

Really like the location. The only thing I’d be concerned about is the noise of the AC unit. It’s lout but nothing noise cancelling headphones can’t fix

Not one thing. The entire hotel was overrun by kids staying there for a soccer tournament. Unable to use/enjoy the pool. Kids were running in the halls in the evenings, i called front desk/complained but to no avail. I eventually went into hall and confronted the kids running and told them to please stop. I visit scottsdale several times a year. I only chose sonesta select bc i figured it would be quiet...um not only was it not quiet but there was nothing "select" about the room and overall facilities. I have no intention of returning. Also, the black top damage @ hotel entrance was extremely annoying! Unbelievable hotel guests had to drive through "giant potholes" coming and going. What a dump.

We always choose this property because it’s clean and very quiet. The staff is friendly and it remains our go-to place to stay.

Really nice updated hotel. Staff are exceptionally friendly. Never dined in the small cafe that offers breakfast and dinner. Pool area is really nice with lots of loungers and umbrellas. Only negative thing-the carpet in the hallways needs a goid cleaning.

The only drawback to this property is there are no restaurants close by. If you are just going to relax and get away this is a perfect location. They do have a small restaurant on property.

Reasonable price...bed and room were great! Pool, hot tub, fitness center were nice/clean. Safe and comfortable, in a quiet location close to Mayo Clinic. Away from glitzy downtown Scottsdale but close enough to enjoy the best of Scottsdale. Love that it is so close to GREAT hiking. I would choose this hotel again and again. The only downside is you pay for breakfast and coffee, however, the prices, along with the the food and service were good.

I went ahead and booked through Expedia, which showed 7 available king bed rooms. However, when we arrived at the hotel less than 20 minutes later, we were told there were no king rooms available at all. At that point, the experience became very frustrating. I mentioned that I had previously tried calling and was disconnected, but instead of acknowledging the issue, staff immediately stated that they “never hang up on anyone.” There was no ownership taken regarding the interaction or the confusion with room availability. To add to the frustration, the pool was already closed at 9:00 PM even though the posted pool hours stated it was open until 10:00 PM. Overall, the communication, customer service, and inconsistency between what was advertised and what was actually available made for a disappointing experience, especially for someone traveling from out of town for medical treatment and looking for a smooth and stress free stay.

We were unable to use the pool, due to the schedule we had with Mayo Clinic. Perhaps we can use the pool when we come back in August. It would be nice if the facility served breakfast the most important meal of the day!

Not clean

It was not convenient to have signs of alcohol beverage restrictions (wine glasses only provided with wine and age restrictions on the purchase of alcohol)and then be told there are none available. The evening staff needs help because they are the host, server and cook all alone. Many people expressed concerns with the length of time it took to get simple food warmed up in a countertop oven. The espresso machine was also down and then when repaired you could not get certain drinks due to continued issues with the steamer. I enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Very nice patio to enjoy the outside. Buy your food there and do not pay extra though an app or online booking.

The Sonesta Select at Scottsdale Mayo Campus was perfect for my appointments, it's so close you can walk to the Scottsdale campus (even at 530 am, like I did) very convenient to hop on the shuttle bus. The hotel pool / hot tub was a bonus for the long days and pool even felt heated -- and it was kept very clean. The front desk staff were all very helpful will answering questions. The lobby printer was easy to use and very handy that it allowed for attachments to just be sent at anytime, and then printed at the device (like Staples does). Breakfast options were pretty plentiful, and they do make espresso coffee drinks. No lunch made it a little challenging with no rental car, but they did have a light dinner menu that helped fill in a night or two. The carpets on both floors were the only thing that I would say needs updated, they are heavily worn and stained, and sections cut out -- so make sure you watch your feet and not trip. I'd stay here again, it was worth the price, close to Shea Blvd, if you have appts the Scottsdale/Phoenix Mayo shuttle is so convenient.

The restaurant food for dinner is poor at best. Everything pre-made and microwaved. UBER Eats is best option for food.

Horrible experience due to them renting out the majority of the property over the weekend to about 50 teenage boys, soccer team or something and there was maybe only two people to watch all of them. It was loud crazy chaos all weekend. Everybody was complaining to the point that the cops came and the hotel refunded me fully for my stay. I would never stay here again Staff was rude. 0 manager on site all weekend. 0 security.

The Sonestra would do well to provide coffee in the lobby in the morning as well as a breakfast, even a continental breakfast. Breakfast can be purchased, but the prices are not a bargain. Most nice hotels provide complimentary bottles in water in the room upon arrival. There is ice water downstairs but no filtered water in the room. I would also like to see some art work in the rooms. The rooms are spare and the walls boring. The pool is the nicest feature of this hotel. It's clean and beautiful.

Overall very clean, very new. A little disappointing not to have free breakfast, but honestly not much of a loss considering what just free breakfasts offer. The courtyard space was attractive and well kept. Lighting and seating in the room and in the lobby were good quality and in good shape, though our corner of the parking lot was very dark due to a non working pole lamp. We are heavy gym users, and the gym was much better than most in size, and that it had 2 treadmills, and that it was kept wonderfully cool with two a/c units set for a low temperature. Thank you! But it was dusty and lacked towels: housekeeping isn't prioritizing the gym the way the designers did. Also, the floor in the passage between our two rooms was very dirty and had exposed cables. The toilet/shower room was not well designed and it was hard to get around the door, and it was impossible to get more that 60% of the water directed to the shower head instead of the tub. Fridge and microwave were in good shape, clean, and worked well.

Cut our visit short due to unruly guests that kept customers up from midnight on with loud music, fighting and yelling out by the pool area. Staff was great just inconsiderate guests that should have been removed from the property.

The tile in the walkin shower handicap room was very slick and dangerous especially for a person with balance issues

Included breakfast was a pastry, juice and a coffee. Nothing like the continental breakfast found at most hotels. They have bacon and egg sandwiches for an extra cost, but they are even more expensive than McDonalds. Unclear what time the pool opens, time on the sign is a couple hours earlier than the actual time in the morning. Pool furniture is a couple seasons past replacing on some pieces, but they are a good source of nesting material. Room was comfortable and housekeeping staff helpful with clean towels.

I received a free continental breakfast so I only had tea and a banana. Not sure what the food would be like.

not much, maybe the location, however the noise from Shea boulevard is annoying, cheap windows zero service, no cleaning, no towels, no fresh linen for the whole stay, the whole system they have is primitive at best, staff is completely untrained, clueless.

My room flooded and my room phone was broken so I had to use all my towels and my own cloths to clean it up and I was told oh sorry we are doing renovations but I don't see any construction or any alterations happening because there isint I was just lied to. So I looked it up and they are not doing any renovations at this time they just tried to stiff me from a refund

Our room was canceled 1 day before we left for Scottdale. On Christmas Day no less. That being said it was not really anyone’s fault as their water lines broke. This happens sometimes and could happen anywhere. We were able to get a replacement hotel pretty quickly but the staff at Hotels.com were not at all helpful. I had to do the rebooking myself and while they called and let us know what was going on. They were no help in getting another room in the same area. The last call we were on our way to get our plane and I explained this to the person on the phone but she wouldn’t let me hang up. It was frustrating. They are going to refund the difference between the 2 hotels which was nice. I wasn’t expecting that.

The stay was good until we discovered the boiler broke therefore my daughter and I had to shower in cold water both days.to boot, they didnt even call on the second day to let me know that the boiler wasnt goin to be fixed for 2 wks..a call would have been nice so that we could have made other arrangements to stay where there was hot water. To top it off, i had a bad cold already and was there to be seen at mayo clinic for other medical issues. The cold showers were Unpleasant considering the circumstances. I would like to be refunded for the entire stay..the continental breakfast we paid for was crap & we didnt even use the 2nd day ticket.

Good stay because the room was spacious and quiet. However our bathroom door didn’t close properly, the staff could be a little more friendlier and upbeat to guest. Only one person was that way in the morning. Definitely did not appreciate the housekeeper yelling through the door check out is at 11 ! When I couldn’t get to the door in time.

The entire room REEKED of Urine. The bed mattress sagged horribly. The food offerings at the bar/restaurant were pitiful and the selection in the little "store" to microwave were expensive and pitiful microwaved.

Amanda at the front desk was friendly and courteous at 11pm at night. My corner room was spotless, spacious and well located next to a back door and parking lot.

Great hotel that is comfortable with available casual food/beverage options that were convenient. Service is excellent all around. Walkable to the Mayo Clinic campus if that's what's needed. There was a club sports group there too when I was there and it was nicely set up for them (large lobby for the kids and bar for the adults) so would recommended it for that too if having games nearby.

The room was in good condition and well designed. My only complaint is of the cleanliness of the room. There were residuals left on the desk and fingerprints that I had to wipe with sanitarizer. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Clean and quaint!!! The bed was so comfy a nice place to gather your thoughts and peace of mind. Customer Service wasn’t bad either just a nice place and a call for relaxation for a peace of mind with a state of tranquility.

This was a last minute booking, needed something close by for one night. Room was clean, bed was super comfy, and looked like everything had been recently updated. TV did not offer HD channels, but that is not a requirement. The grounds are also nice around the pool. Front desk was friendly.

They charge $7 per night to park your car outside in their lot. :(

Everything else was ok besides housekeeping. Stayed four nights and no one came to clean the room or swap the towels despite telling the front desk two days

Hotel remodel very nice. Front desk very patient and helpful. Note there is a very small number of actual staff people here - there is no room service and coffee / light breakfast shuts down at 9:00am even the the hotel was full.

It was very nice, close to Mayo, walkable to campus and use campus transportation. Nice pathway to a few restaurants behind hotel. Would be nice if the cleaning staff emptied our trash daily or use bigger trash cans. But, overall, it was very nice! Great and friendly staff.

Noise all night from stomping around on the floor above to kids screaming and crying in the room next door. So bad that we left at 3am.

Nice room enjoyed the stay

The first room wasn't finished and a fumeagate still in it. The second room the ac was stuck on full power so we had to turn it off, it was also noisy, so we had to sleep in a hot room. I had to locate the plug for the light and charging station on the right side of the bed and turn it on. People race on the long road out front at night. But the room was nice and dark, I also felt safe there. The shower is like taking a blaster of water to the body. Food was on the expensive side, small portion, but very good. Loved the dog station.

Clean ruin, friendly staff, and QUIET!!

The room was clean and comfortable. However, the sink drain in the bathroom did not drain as there was a disconnect in the linkage to the stopper. The bathroom did not have some kind of night light, so you had to turn on a light if you got up to go to the bathroom.

Didn’t clean room and when I ask before 11am per there policy I was told they were short staffed and all they could do was empty the trash. In a five day stay that is all I got. Trash emptied once

Staff was really nice, room was a bit dirty and still had dirty towel hanging in bathroom and air conditioners are real loud. Other than that it was nice. Must be short staffed because everyone there was hustling to keep up especially the hard working lady in the little cafe they have, she was doing it all and did an incredible job.

Great quite and comfortable stay

Stayed 5 days, was a hassle to get toliet paper and towels or have the room cleaned. Ended up getting room "refreshed" once and customer service was very non existant.

Clean room nice lobby area. The inside courtyard was nice. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bedside rug runners would have been nice but not a necessity. Room was a nice size. The patio was nice the location was near restaurants and shops

Wonderfully as always . Love this hotel

Close to Mayo, however there was no Shower Curtain, no ironing board (but had an iron) floor was dusty, room smelled like there was previously a smoker in in. No breakfast without paying. But no place really to go to get a good breakfast other than the hospital or the hotel. The bottles of lotion that aren't replaced...had left over lotion dried on the outside. The bottles should be cleaned and replaced.

Convenient to Mayo Clinic. Cleaning was not great. Employees were nice and helpful. Pillows were very hard. Overall acceptable and for price and convenience we will likely stay again.

Location next to Mayo is wonderful. There was zero housekeeping the entire time i was there 3 nights. Stairwells have zero ventilation and are very hot and musty. Road into facility is in need of resurfacing in a few places. Numerous inoperable security lights on road around facility. TV channel selection sadly limited.

I didn’t eat any food

The room was very comfortable, they included a TV channel guide in the room that was very helpful. The bed was comfortable a little on the soft side, I prefer a harder mattress.

I highly recommend for people with appointments at Mayo Clinic.

The hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable. All the staff members were kind and helpful. I was unhappy with the booking. If you select 1 for booking you end up booking with Expedia, unannounced. Then the hotel can’t make any changes to you reservation, it’s all done with Expedia. Book at the hotel front desk!!

Shuttle service is great

Very convenient when visiting Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. We enjoyed the clean, quiet room, Starbucks coffee for purchase, swimming pool and kind staff.

Worked well for us while having a week of tests run @ the Mayo Clinic. Was extremely quiet.

Large rooms, clean, nice amenities, nice pool area, fantastic check-in area. Restaurant not recommended. Ordered two burgers. They were over-cooked, no ketchup or mustard, dry as toast and hard as a rock. Maybe they're ok for lite snacks. Hallway carpets are dirty. Hotel close to remote Mayo campus, otherwise its miles away from common services.

Quiet and relaxing

Wonderful staff, nice rooms until I pulled out the bed on the sofa sleeper. Mattress pad was dirty with hair and crumbs of some sort. Under the sofa was dirty as well. Went to the front desk. They were extremely apologetic and gave me new bedding. Offered to change rooms but I declined. Fresh bedding received and that also had long stringy hair as well. Check your bedding!

But I feel they are taking advantage of it. The bathroom in my room was a very bad setup. The toilet was way in the corner, against the wall, making it very difficult to sit properly. There was over 4 feet of space between it and the bathtub and there was no sink inside the bathroom, it was outside. The water pressure in the shower was very low. The basic amenities we expect from a hotel was non-existent and they were charging for everything. We forgot toothpaste and what almost all hotels provide for free, they charged $3 for it. Needless to say, I will not be staying here again; not worth it just for the convenience.

The room I reserved was unavailable due to a broken toilet. I had to argue with the front desk to find me another accessible room. Beds in regular room are far too high for a short person.

Everyone is so nice. We like that it is quiet and peaceful. Very clean and close to the client.

It was a wonderful stay even though we showed up late to check in and love the fact you could open up your sliding door and it goes outside to your vehicle and the beautiful desert and scenery combined.

I liked the properties but both rooms had non-working TV's and that was mentioned to the front desk both times

Room was filthy with Dog Hair and Human Hair Room gets clean only every Seven Days. Absolutely unhealthy and filthy Room. When Room was cleaned ' there was so much Dog Hair. Had to wet a towel to clean the Room Floor and Bathroom floor.

This property is very good value if you are visiting the Mayo Clinic and your primary care is at the Scottsdale location.

This hotel was very close to the hospital that we were having to go to. They don't do daily housekeeping. They didn't even do the 3-day refresh they said they would do. There was extra towels available if you walk down to get them. Everything cost extra though.

It was perfect for kids and family. Slept comfortably in the bed and pullout couch.

issues are; a late check in, 4pm and an early check out 11am . Also, TV in lobby is fixed to Fox propaganda network. Should be a neutral station or nothing at all.

Checked out a day early and could not receive a copy of the Invoice. A/C in room leaked water from the the bottom. The toilet seat was broken on the right side and the seat would almost come off. This is at needs room.

Nice friendly clean

I’ve stayed at this location on multiple occasions over the years to visit nearby family. My past experiences have generally been good, on this stay I was quite disappointed. The bed was soft and sagging significantly, resulting in a very uncomfortable back ache on both days after the two nights I stayed. While the room itself was nice and in near new appearance, the hallway carpeting throughout the facility was filthy. First of all, the carpet choice was interesting, white with light green design highlights. The dirt showed prominently, leading into each room doorway, it was quite disgusting. There were references on line and on property to ongoing renovations, but I saw no evidence of any renovations in progress at the property. There aren’t many nearby alternatives so I’ll probably give it another chance, but will be very leery of a repeat experience.

The front desk, cleaning ladies, and bar lady were so friendly and welcoming. The only comment for improvement I would have would be updated facilities in places that receive a lot of wear and tear. For example, the bathroom had caulk in all the creases covering what seemed to be dirt or old caulk.

It was a nice place. The room was clean. The staff were nice. No issues with the exception of they don't have a complimentary breakfast. I thought i had searched for a hotel with a complimentary breakfast, but apparently my search was for a hotel that served breakfast. They did indeed serve breakfast, but they charged for it. That was the only thing that kind of bothered me.

I originally booked this hotel because I knew it was down Shea and I was looking for a quiet area and it was peaceful as can be. Upon check-in, I was talking to the girl about the type of room I wanted and she was very accommodating with letting me know what rooms had what views, etc. and I ended up getting a Mountain View room of the million dollar homes with my balcony room and it was perfect. The hotel is a perfect size very easy to navigate and if you have pets, they have a little grass patch since it’s mainly rock around for the dogs to go potty on. Everybody at the hotel was super accommodating and I got some creamer in the morning before they even opened up the breakfast. I also bought a toothbrush at the “to go” center, which I thought was gonna be like $10 because of normal hotel up charges, but it was only three bucks. The bed was super comfortable, I got a king room and overall it was exactly what I needed at the time. The only thing that was missing is the TV channels. Half of them are the news, several of the channels didn’t work or had no volume and the rest was just a lot of really old outdated movies/ shows. For such a beautiful hotel and space they really need to upgrade to smart TVs but other than that, I have zero complaints. I would definitely return back to this location if they updated the TVs because I like to chill at night with my shows. The only other thing to know is you’re pretty much in the middle of nowhere not a lot of food grocery options.

Nicely redone. No lunch or dinner is served under the new ownership. Usually has a quiet clientele. BUT on my last stay I learned there is almost NO soundproofing between rooms. I was awakened at 2:30am by a couple arriving next door that I could plainly hear talking, almost like there was an open door to the connecting room they occupied. Their ongoing conversation kept me awake for two hours.

Hotel was nice and comfortable. Looks to be newly remodeled. The only issue is we were at Mayo Clinic on the 101, not this Mayo Clinic. Be aware of the drive you will be taking back and forth if you pick the wrong hospital.

The hotel was recently updated. It is located on the grounds of the Scottsdale Mayo Clinic Campus. Most guests staying there are visiting Mayo, and they have a shuttle that runs back and forth. Check-in time is not until 4:00 pm. Many guests were sitting around the lobby waiting to get their rooms, and the restaurant was not open yet.

This hotel is probably the cleanest I've ever stayed at. We had an issue with adjoining room smoking in the room and on the balcony (no smoking in undesignated areas policy). Since this hotel is located on the campus of the Mayo Clinic, I assume most stays are for the Clinic itself (my stay was), so smoking was taken seriosly and staff were kind and quick to correct the issue and follow up with us to let us know it was taken care of. Locations is perfect and walkable (flat) to Mayo, and includes a walking trail between the two buildings. This was super appreciated for someone who travels from a state with a TON of humidity and cant normally walk- but AZ I had NO pain at all, so I took advantage. (High of 98 when we were there in April). just about every room has a small balcony and it was great to sit out in the evenings and even watched coyotes in the back parking lot (no need to be scared of them- they are too scared of you)! Overall, this will be my go to place for further visits. Oh, and check out Fountain Hills, a very short drive, for wonderful views and lookout points!

Place was very nice but I would recommend trying to get a room on the North side of building as Shea Blvd can get noisy. Very convenient location though!!

The staff was very kind, when we arrived, out bathroom was not at all clean, the floor and the shower had hairs. Our bed was on the very very firm side, so we couldn’t sleep at all. So we communicated this to the front desk and they didn’t have many rooms available.
