Reviews
The hotel reviews indicate a beautiful and peaceful resort with helpful staff, but there are consistent complaints about slow service and outdated rooms. The resort's natural surroundings and golf course are highly praised, but the high prices and lack of amenities are criticized.

We love staying here. Staff is fantastic, the casita’s are clean, private, romantic, and perfect for us. The dining is great, pool is beautiful, we just can’t say anything bad about this place.

The best thing about the Boulders is the staff. They are attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, the property is tired. It needs updating.
- 1/5
Do NOT stay here!! While it “used” to be a luxury resort, it is no longer! Very run down, not well kept and lack of attention to ley details. MOLD was found in our ceiling above our bed, the shower reaked of urine and had the previous guests’ hair in the shower drain. We were told housekeeping would come clean it, but they never showed up. They insisted on moving us to another room at 9:30pm.

Incredibly beautiful resort, even in the summer. Loved every moment
- 4/5
The one lounging area was great in terms of drinks and had a karaoke style showcase/singer on the weekends. The rooms were well maintained and reset daily. The Spa needs more help in terms of staff and direction to its guest in checking in, and smelled a bit while walking around, especially considering the pricing. The shuttle services around the resort were great and most of the staff was very helpful and friendly throughout the resort. Overall, it was a great experience, if you want to relax, but not much to do for younger folks.

We chose The Boulders expecting a luxury experience, but unfortunately, the service and room quality fell completely short. Days before our arrival, I emailed the property to request an early check-in (offering to pay extra if needed) but never received a response. When we arrived early, we were told our room wasn't ready. We spent the next several hours checking in periodically—waiting at the lounge, then heading to the golf course restaurant for lunch—only to be repeatedly turned away. We weren't finally given our room until 4:00 PM. The real breakdown happened after we returned from dinner. We found a spider inside one of our towels, followed by more spiders on the furniture and sink, and bugs in the bed itself. In total, we had to kill 8 spiders, a moth, and another bug. When I called the front desk to request a room change due to the infestation, I was flatly told they couldn't accommodate us. For the price point and reputation of this resort, the lack of communication, poor customer service, and unhygienic room conditions are unacceptable. We will not be coming back.

Breakfast food was good and ambience and comfort of dining room was excellent. Ambience of lodge was very good. Golf cart drivers were courteous and excellent. Golf course and range was good and staff were excellent. Service in dining room was quite slow and some staff had a disinterested attitude. The gym was well equipped but the equipment had not been cleaned and felt greasy and not hygenic.

The food at the Spotted Donkey Cantina wasn’t great. Felt like microwave food. The service was good.

We absolutely loved our stay at this resort! Everything was wonderful from the beautiful property and clean, comfortable rooms to the delicious food and exceptional staff. Every employee we encountered was friendly, helpful, and genuinely seemed to care about making our experience great. The resort was spotless, the amenities were fantastic, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. We had such a great time and would not hesitate to return. Thank you for an unforgettable stay! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Property was beautiful and staff was great. My issue was that I am a light sleeper and about every 10-15 minutes the ceiling kept cracking (settling cracks), sometimes about 5 cracks at a time and loud. I did not sleep at all. Other than that property was very nice.

Beautiful resort. Didn't care fir the amount of road noise however. Very close to restaurants, shopping etc. Golf course is Beautiful . We'll be back. Food a bit pricey however.

Obvious that there are issues with staffing for housekeeping and pool maintenance. Lounge chairs have been clean d in a while and my feet were dirty after 20 minutes walking on the floors in the suite.

The room was excellent except for the outside chairs. The outside sitting area had a bunch of spider/cob webs on the chairs and table and the area appears to have not been cleaned in a week. Could not sit outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery and weather during our stay

This place is a gem. Large expansive rooms (Villas), iconic Arizona scenery, fantastic Spa, multiple pools and restaurants. Great service overall my the employees.

For the price I paid the room was way below expectations. Bugs, broken bar sink, no soap in shower. More upscale room for $750 per night. Very rundown room condition.

This is absolutely not a 5 Star Resort. I'm trying to really hold back the expletives and bad language because this place was beyond trash. I would not rate this a 2 star hotel. It's not even a hotel. Whoever rated this resort is a liar and should be barred from ever rating anything unless they're as filty and disgusting and a big fat liar.

Everything was phenomenal. I can't wait to go back.

Our overall stay was good! Plan to hike around a bit to the pools depending on where you’re staying certainly got our steps in:) rides are available in the golf carts with friendly helpful drivers! When busy the main pool gets quite crewed and not enough lounge chairs so get there early! Food was decent maybe a little over priced but to be expected at a resort! Only downfall is… when booking they said there was pickelball courts that you can play on but….. they didn’t tell you at check in or online that it’s.. members only … guests at resort have to pay $50 per 90min session! Kinda disappointing since they were nice courts and mostly not used we did find nearby courts at Ashler hills park that were free to play at! Room were clean and cared for each day! Sliding bathroom doors could be greased so they slide nicer and quieter definitely don’t give ya much privacy while using the toilet either😳 We did leave a couple days early since we wanted a little more space than our studio room provided and remembered that we enjoyed a more private experience! Overall good and great place to stay!

The location was perfect for us. The amenities were nice. The private deck was a great place for a morning cup of coffee. There was a lot of deferred maintenance to the exterior of our casita [stairs, walkway, paint]. We killed quite a few insects in our casita.

For a resort with the reputation of The Boulders, I would have expected the service to be better and more consistent. While we met some truly excellent people, there were a number who were just doing a good job and lacked a bit of energy and desire to go the extra mile. The room also needed a little love, with a few dings in the door, chipped paint work etc. Overall, we would definitely come back, but probably only if we got a great deal vs the c£670 per night we paid, including breakfast.

Wonderful “Prickly Pear” resort. Beautiful casitas with fireplace and balcony. The grounds were amazing to walk along the Nature Trails in the mornings and although I do not play golf…the greens were worth photographing. The staff and the golf carts were amazing….food at 2 of their restaurants were excellent. Pool was clean and great view with the boulders and waterfall. Our stay was exceptional!

Beautiful property in serene location. Staff and service are wonderful. Rooms are serene and the most comfortable bedding. Highly recommend a stay here
- 3/5
The property was really nice. Last time we stayed there we had a great room on the ground floor with a patio. Paid quite a bit less at the same basic weekend. This time we were placed on the second floor with a view into a tree at the very furthest room on the property. In addition, had to ask to get coffee for the room. A few times called the front desk and got no answer. On the good side went to 3 of the restaurants and the service and food were great. I would have thought for more than 700.00 per night the room would have been outstanding.

Great resort and people. Nice location.

- Upon arrival, it would be great for the valets to park your car instead of adding one more step to check-in that you have to self-park and meet the valet's golf cart with your luggage. PHX airport is a haul, and after schlepping our luggage through there, it just would have been nice to have one less step that was avoidable. - We had a painful almost 6 hour golf round that no one mentioned you had zero access to the clubhouse until we were on our way to the tee. You cannot have that design and not tell players when they check in to grab some food and beverage. The starters thanked us many times for our patience with the slow groups in front of us, but honestly, we were sooo hungry by the end of it, it sucked. - Food & beverage at the resort just needs to be leveled up . There is coffee in the lobby (no tea) which is about the equivalent of a Best Western, but there is a gorgeous espresso machine in the bar right next to it that they don't offer any morning drinks from. The place needs a coffee/tea shop. Every meal we had something major missing. One breakfast, missing a bagel from the smoked salmon bagel. One room service, no silverware/butter/salt or pepper. Its so close, but there is no QA on anything, and unfortunately, it affected us multiple times. - Marcella at the pool was great! She handled a large crowd well and offered great service.

The cozy feel of the casita. The golf cart drivers were great. The fireplace was great. check in was rough. Asked for an early check in but room was not ready when we got there. We had to wait about 2 hours sleeping in the lobby. Then the first room we were taken to was still dirty. Had to travel back in the cold to the lobby to get another room and key.

Beautiful property on the edge of Scottsdale. Friendly staff. Rooms are good size and the bed was comfortable. However, they need a refresh and the restaurant food was mediocre. It also takes a long time to get to downtown Scottsdale if you want to eat off property at one of the better area restaurants.

My only complain was they didn’t really have any good coffee at the resort (I like my good coffee) so I had to get up every morning & go down the road to get it. Also, the 24 hour pool wasn’t lit up very well & I fell down the steps going to the hot tub early in the morning & broke my foot. Kind of ruined the rest of my hiking trip. 😕 So might want to light up the steps a little better!! Overall I loved our stay and will definitely return if in the area.

Resort was beautiful. Our casita was perfect with spectacular views of nature and the golf course. Rooms were well kept and clean. Room service was spot on and attentive to our requests. The front desk was professional and answered all questions and were prompt to assist with questions even after our check out. Some of the wait staff and bell hop staff were less than positive but overall we recommend this stay.

We arrived in the evening in the dark due to flight delays. The road and signs are so dark we had an extremely hard time finding the lodge even after returning to the main entrance to get better directions. Everything else about the facility was wonderful but would greatly benefit from some lighted signs with more direction or maybe send a bell to the entrance to guide arrivals in the dark.

The location is amazing and the layout of the resort was fabulous. Absolutely loved the views and the landscape. My phone hot spot was a stronger connection then the Guest WiFi. The property is in need of repair. We had plumbing issues in our room from day 1. The room service / guest services is almost non-existent. We needed an iron as ours was in complete disrepair and wasn't working. We never received it. People in our group had dirty rooms etc... As our unit was not only a bit of a distance from the lodge and from the executive suite we had our meeting at it would have been nice to have the shuttles (golf cart valets) show up on time.

Highlights: the wildlife and a spectacular desert thunderstorm. Lowlights: too many to enumerate. The biggest issue was the attitude of the staff. Specifically the front desk. The hotel guest concept seemed to inconvenience to them. Me: Which of your villas have a pool? Them: ”Do you know how many villas we have here lady?! Over 65. I don’t have time to look up what has what. All the villas are the same, you’ll enjoy it. It’s nice here”, muttered a grumpy older-sounding man over the phone. WOW! All the same or some have pools? And why so grumpy Archie Bunker? He was not the only grumpy or sarcastic or outright hostile employee. I think they are experiencing some sort of toxic staff issue. The bad attitudes were pervasive. A few of the porters were pleasant though, especially the one who knew the hangout spots of the owls and cute desert animals and took us on the scenic route in the golf cart whether we wanted it or not. At least he tried to be friendly whereas the others were just inhospitable. I was apprehensive to ask for anything. We moved from a drab room in the hinterland with no sofa and non-streaming tv to a villa and just bought our own food to cook to avoid interactions with the hotel staff. Cleaning crew were awesome! Dining room at the golf club smelled like a live sewer. The staff were nose-blind. She said they had been having ongoing plumbing problems for months. We couldn’t eat w/poop smell, in 90 degree heat. We left, sad.

The room when we first arrived had some maintenance items, a bucket, spackle tool, an outlet cover off, a maintenance fan blowing on the wall and a strong odor of fresh paint or spackle. Called the front desk (Parker) and someone was there to remove in 5 minutes. Aside from that incident the room was clean. The resort is very nice, wish there were a couple more food options as the resort is quite remote. The golf course staff was very nice and helpful which in most cases is rare. Most golf course staff is rude and unfriendly. We had a great time and a lovely stay, the only reason for not 5 stars was the incident at the beginning.

The property and scenery are aways very nice and relaxing and the service is always top notch. We requested the same room we book every year a this time. However, upon arrival we were informed due to heavy booking they were unable to accommodate us and instead they booked us in a handicap equipped room. It was a nice room but there was no shower or bathroom door to be able to accommodate a wheelchair which was not convenient for us.

The staff was very nice. Several ways in which they could update the grounds-take out dead, diseased cacti and add lighting to pathways. We had to turn on our phone lights in order to see our way back to our room. The room also was dark, and the bed mattress (under sheets)moved every time you turn over). The view was amazing.

For a 5 star resort, it was lacking. There was mold in the shower, and missing stones in the shower wall. We did not have heat in our room for first 24 hours. Paying $40 to use the golf practice facilities after already paying $500 a night is ridiculous.

The Bed sheet had a hole in it, it took 20 minutes to get hot water to the shower, the shuttle boys didn't know the hours of the spa, both times we went there the sauna didn't open till 8am we were told 6am, and I didn't receive my refund for the last night stay that Shirley promised she would deliver on. Won't be returning.

The property itself was very nice and blended well with the surrounding terrain. There were trails and paths where we walked to enjoy the environment. Our villa was a bit dated and worn but still very comfortable. The bed was particularly comfortable. There were good dining and drinking choices on the property which we enjoyed. The spa was very nice also and we enjoyed our treatments and resting and unwinding at the facility.

Great location and nature but the rooms are tired and need better conditions for the guests. Hot water was out for almost 24 hours, the room smelled of old and musty in the towels and bathrobes. The staff attitude I will describe it as unhelpful arrogance.

The rocks on the shower walls were falling off. You needed a pipe wrench to turn on cold water at bathroom vanity. Only way to open the pocket door was via a strap hooked up to my truck. The tv didn’t work morning one. We woke up at 4 in the morning to the room at 85 degrees due to a ridiculous schedule on thermostat that was nearly impossible to change. The bathroom at the 8th hole on the golf course was cleaner than our room. Spider webs between window covering and sliding glass door. We had to hire the hulk to open our sliding glass door to balcony because we simply were not strong enough as mid 30s men.

The property is gorgeous! The room was spacious. Some of the staff are not friendly- not warm at r inviting. The vibe in Scottsdale is generally not friendly to outsiders all around. We felt judged and dismissed. Apparently it is the off season to visit so rooms are cheaper which then I assume brings in lower class clientele that the staff and also other people staying there make judgment of. We felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. Visiting restaurants and shops in the surrounding area also had a “we don’t want your kind” around here attitude. I’ve never been to Scottsdale so this was a new experience for me. We are from the Midwest so maybe it’s a cultural thing. We went to Sedona where it was explained to us that the people in Scottsdale are very materialistic- so I guess that explains things… Anyway- the resort is gorgeous and somewhat high end and the breakfast was amazing every morning. The room was nice and comfortable. Just not the vibe we were going for but def will be visiting Sedona again!
- 5/5
I loved every second of my stay here. I can’t wait to visit again!
- 4/5
The property is beautiful. The room was very nice and the bed was amazing. My only complaint is that you can’t park by your room. You have to park in a different parking area and rely on the shuttle from the property people which to me was an inconvenience. Also, all surrounding areas are very dark when you walk around the pool area isn’t very appealing and it’s very dark.
- 1/5
We did not even end up staying. Checked into our room and there were dead bugs in bathtub, roach in bathroom and faucet handle on bathroom sink broken. Turned water on and could not turn off. They moved us into a second room and had the same bug issue. We then decided to stay at Mountain Shadows Resort which we give a 10/10 rating. Boulders Resort was so dirty and dated. I do not recommend to anyone.
- 4/5
The scenery and the facilities were excellent . We were there in August and it was quiet and nothing going on. Nott a lot of staff around either. The pool was full of dust from a recent dust storm . Also it was quite dark at night -the paths to the casitas are underlit.
- 5/5
Quiet beautiful views
- 5/5
The absolute best property I have stayed at. We loved all the employees and the spa was top notch. Looking forward to my stay next year. It will be a mother daughter tradition! Thank you for making this the perfect getaway!!!!
- 5/5
Amazing natural landscape - particularly the ancient boulders. Staff was friendly and helpful. A very nice getaway.
- 5/5
Really lovely resort. I bit “rustic” in some ways, but over all an incredible setting, lovely and responsive staff, great gym/ exercise classes and beautiful new spa pool. We’ll definitely be back
- 5/5
Isolated paradise. Ammenities great and grounds beautiful
- 5/5
Beautiful golf courses Including natural beautiful rock formations Must experience this once in your life
- 5/5
Beautiful resort with extraordinary rock formations, nice staff, and great private casitas. The food was good, but breakfast was super pricey at $71 for a two-egg breakfast with a latte. Other than that, it was perfect!
- 5/5
Everything was amazing highly recommended
- 5/5
It was fantastic! The staff were so attentive!
- 5/5
Where do I start.... Number 1 and the most important, "The Staff The Employees" were amazing, every single one of them that we had interactions with were top notch and actually seem to enjoy working there, so kudos to team leaders and managment. The property was stunning, the food was outstanding, and the golf day was so much fun. The Casita was clean and super, super cozy. Thanks Boulders for an amazing couple of days. We will be back once we have enough money to splurge again. 10 star resort if thats a thing....
- 1/5
Getting old in all aspects
- 5/5
It was great! Main pool where they serve food is a bit small for the property size.
- 5/5
The Boulders environment was wonderful. Food prices were too high. Coffee and begal for $26 really! Some customer service weak.
- 5/5
Beautiful property!! Can’t wait to come back!!
- 5/5
This is the second time, we have stayed at the Boulders Casita. Excellent rooms with high ceilings and santa fe build quality. The casitas are superb especially with a patio. Be able to have the golf carts pick you up at any time is priceless and fun.
- 5/5
I love this place and I keep coming back. It’s relaxing, and they have excellent food, a wonderful spa, nice pools, gym, yoga, and nature all around. I am looking forward to coming back!
- 4/5
It was a lovely property, very quiet.
- 5/5
Gorgeous oversized villas! Luxury resort with incredible service and amenities. Will def stay here again!
- 4/5
Bed was comfy, love the tile floors and the large bathroom with dual sinks and walk in closet. The area (Cave Creek) is historic and super cute with good shopping and dining options. Property may be falling a bit behind in maintenance. Hot water handle on both sinks was corroded stuck, took maintenance 2 days to get 1 of them working. AirConditioner is old and super loud (shakes the bed when it kicks on) but it kept the room reasonably chill in the major desert heat. The Casitas are reached through wandering golf cart paths that highlight the scenery, the boulders and the desert flora. I had an early flight, so i walked to my car (they offer a golf cart service, but it was early and i wasn't sure if they were working yet). At least 8 of the pathway lights were burned out, and if you've ever been in the desert on a moonless night, it's DARK. even with the flashlight on my phone, i had to pause a couple times to see if i was going the right direction. Given the amazing heat, i'm very surprised they don't offer any covered parking, as your car is hot as an oven any time after noon. All in all a beautiful resort with very good service, but if it was high season and i was paying big bucks, i would have been disappointed.
- 5/5
Enjoyed the service, the wildlife, the scenery, and the golf. We will be back.
- 5/5
The room was comfortable, bedding cozy and added to getting a good night's sleep. The room would benefit by having a ceiling fan especially because of the AZ summer heat. The AC worked well it simply ran a lot because of it trying to keep up with the heat. We did not have time to utilize the pool or restaurants but plan to during another visit. The grounds were clean and well maintained.
- 5/5
This property provided relaxation and tranquility throughout the entire resort. The staff was amazing and made it easy to get wherever you wanted to go, whenever you needed, 24 hrs a day. The Casita was very comfortable and was the perfect setting for a perfect getaway.
- 5/5
Room was top notch and staff was friendly and attentive. Food is great also. Highly recommended
- 5/5
Third time staying at this resort and I love it even more after my most recent stay. The golf course is so nice! The pools and spa are amazing as well!!
- 3/5
Was a bit of a inconvenience and uncomfortable
- 4/5
Beautiful property, pools a little dated.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 4/5
Room AC duct blows right on you when in bed making you cold when on and hot when off. Very annoying. I opened the shutters for the lone window in the room and found that it had not been cleaned in a long time, there was dirt and dead insects along the sill.
- 5/5
It was amazing!
- 5/5
golf cart rides option for 2 pools
- 5/5
Gorgeous property, pool was well maintained, golf carts drivers were all very friendly and prompt. We had breakfast room service it was so delicious! Will be back
- 5/5
The most naturally beautiful property I have ever stayed at. The staff was amazing and deserve their props for dealing with the weather. The food at the various restaurants were very good and fresh. Will absolutely go back and probably stay longer than the 6 days I spent this time. I also did the spa and wish there were more hours in the day to experience it.
- 4/5
Getting a little dated. Could use a refresh of the rooms
- 5/5
This is an amazing place. Beautiful and peaceful and the staff is great

- 2/5
Property outside was nice. Our first room had a leaky roof that leaked on chair and bed. Also found dirty conditions in the bathroom. Got moved into a new room in the rain at 10:30pm employees were not courteous or appologetic. Parking is very inconvienent. The manager up front just kept wanting to give us breakfast for our trouble. Overall, I would give this property a poor rating. We will never stay here or recommend this property.
- 5/5
The Boulders delivered again. Great stay!!
- 5/5
Excellent room and grounds quality! Absolutely loved the natural environment! Front desk staff could be a little more friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
A very special property, look forward to another visit in the future.
- 4/5
This was an awesome place to stay. I can’t think of anyplace I have stayed is like the Boulder. Everything about it was unique. The staff was extremely awesome in everything that they did. My only complaint is that the last day I was there, no one came to clean my room. When I called after 5 pm to let them know that the room was not cleaned, or coffee and accessories had not been replaced or used towels were still gathered a pile. They did end up bringing some clean towels and left them all in a wrapped bundle on a table, but still didn’t clean the room including changing of the sheets. Other than that, it was great.
- 5/5
Always an amazing time!
- 5/5
I liked that the $35 a day fee covered all the tips for the golf cart drivers on the property. It was nice not having cars driving around the resort just golf carts. The casita was very clean and big! Great views. Any concerns will be handled immediately no questions asked. All staff was prompt professional and friendly. The pools were nice, the food was good. the Miller Lite 16 ounce cans were $10.80 after tax at the pool. That was my only complaint. LOL. Overall I would recommend, plus you still get a NOON CHECK OUT. Which I appreciate!
- 5/5
Relaxing stay. Loved resort
- 4/5
The overall condition and ammenities were better than expected. The staff was happy and helpful during our stay. Would definitely consider returning or recommending to others
- 5/5
I loved the scenery of the property. Everything was absolutely beautiful.
- 5/5
Always a pleasant stay such a gorgeous property and very relaxing.
- 5/5
Very enjoyable. We arrived during quiet season, but would like to go back during a busier time.
- 5/5
We stayed in a Casita and great shuttle service to the amenities. Rooms are older and not as well maintained as I’d expect for this resort. Only complaint is serious lack of EV chargers. There’s 2 and only 1 works.
- 5/5
I would definitely spend my money to stay there. I just think the beds need to be more comfortable.
- 5/5
We stayed here for the first time for our Anniversary and decided this will be our yearly go-to place. ALL of the staff was nice and helpful, if we needed anything we called and it was brought to us, if we needed a ride they were there to cart us around. The casita was clean, quiet, and romantic, the pool was nice, a bit spendy, but we definitely got what we paid for. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed. We will be back.

- 4/5
Went for a girls trip (9 of us), overall we had a great stay. The spa pool was lovely, it was very quiet and the resort felt like a unique experience. Food was good but 2 of the restaurants have very similar menu's, lunch at the spa pool was extremely limited.
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Rooms are spacious and beautiful. Plenty of food and activities on site.
- 5/5
We loved our stay at the resort. We had a few issues and staff handled it right away. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. We ate at the restaurants for breakfast lunch and dinners. Delicious. Will definitely come back for snother visit.
- 5/5
It was an amazing stay!!
- 5/5
Great course.
- 4/5
The views were lovely. The couple next to us were cannabis smokers and the smell was horrible.
- 3/5
Resort is very nice, only condo like rooms. A couple down sides are they’re all very separated, have to take a golf cart to get around, if it rains (it did while we were there) it’s LOUD. Also, had a bobcat on our roof lol
- 5/5
It was a fantastic stay. Our only complaint is the hvac was programmed inadequately and we couldn’t get someone to fix it. Other than that it was great and we will be back. The staff was amazing as was the scenery and wildlofe
- 4/5
Great views, friendly staff and a super fun golf course
- 4/5
Everything was up to Boulders high standards. The only things that were disconcerting were: The Master Toilet didn't work and it took them 3 visits to fix it. The lights in the kitchen were flashing. They did fix them. The large remote for the Bedroom TV needed a new battery but all they did was plug a remote for the audio into my computer. The unit did smell of "Old People's Smell" when I arrived but I had a can of Frabreez which I sprayed on the rugs and in the air which did help. Just a lot of small issues in 635 that took a lot of work on my part to get fixed and in the case of the Bedroom TV, never go fixed.
- 5/5
Wonderful place to stay, looks like it was recently renovated, spacious rustic room. Room patio was kverlooking a golf course. Pool was nice with the waterfall on the boulders in mountains behind us. Great experience, will be back to this hidden gem.
- 3/5
Came to relax - hot tub wasn’t working front desk said it was set at 100 which we knew it wasn’t -
- 5/5
Only complaint, that would elevate this place to perfection, would be the pools. They could uses updating. If they were redone, salt based, and cooler in temp, it would be perfect. They need a cold plunge pool, as the pool water was a warm bath.
- 5/5
Very nice golf course, and the property provided beautiful scenery.
- 5/5
Excellent!
- 5/5
Beautiful quiet property providing so.many options to spend your time. The pools and spa facilities were fabulous, and the views from each as well as from your room wonderful.
- 3/5
The Boulders have seen their better days and it’s not recently. The property needs a makeover and more employees and people to tend to the guests.
- 5/5
Beautiful property and comfortale rooms. Loved that we could set the a/c as low as needed in our room.
- 5/5
Pool spa games Very large property Superior attention to detail
- 5/5
The Boulders is an older resort, but well maintained in a great setting. Conveniently located with a beautiful setting. We enjoyed the restaurant, bar & main pool. The staff in all locations was always very friendly & helpful.
- 2/5
Save your money or book at an actual desert retreat.
- 3/5
The landscape was awesome. The Casita’s seemed a bit outdated.
- 3/5
The grounds are beautiful. Staff was wonderful. Very peaceful vacation. I think the room was a little dated as well as the pool. The resort is a good 20 miles from Old Town if that’s where you want to spend your time.
- 5/5

Great location and views. Generally good but not good value and Food and Beverage vosts were excesdive, even for a high class resort.
- 4/5
Rooms are a bit old. They need to be updated for this price.
- 5/5
House keeping didn’t always throw out obvious garbage or remove used coffee cups. We had a late rez one evening and we were being rushed out. Would def go back as those negative points are fixable.
- 4/5
Setting is spectacular
- 1/5
Very unhelpful. Horrible dinner, got food poisoning
- 5/5
Beautiful location and walking trails!
- 5/5
Love love love The Boulders! We’ve stayed here before, so it’s always a joy to come back! You’ll never go wrong choosing this place: incredible golf, great staff and service, and of course - serenity!
- 4/5
The property is beautiful. They had us in a two queen room which we were changed from. Our view from our room wasn't great and the outdoor patio area was filthy. At the price we paid, I would have expected to have a clean patio. Other than some other minor incidents, we were happy.
- 4/5
They have 180 Casitas, and some of them are much nicer location than others. We were given a Casita that was situated behind a dead tree with virtually no sunlight. Indicated we are very disappointed and were able to move to a much nicer space.. All in all, a unique experience, but wouldn’t recommend wholeheartedly. One other note, everything in the rooms, including air-conditioning is kind of dated. An upgrade is definitely In order.
- 5/5
The staff was so friendly and welcoming, we will be back!
- 5/5
The place is amazing. Our third time there. Will be back!
- 5/5
Gorgeous, romantic, secluded. Beautiful property and very well kept. We were there 10 years ago and it was just as nice. Property hasn’t gone downhill at all and has been very kept up. We had trouble getting people answer the phone at room service. Room service was slow, food not warm etc. very disappointing for such a secluded place. but other than that we enjoyed our stay very much. Front desk was very accommodating, letting us add an extra night onto our room at the last minute.
- 4/5
Food average at best, disappointing and service okay. Spa was nice but fully booked while hotel wasn’t full.
- 5/5
Really relaxing spot. We hiked both days - including a road trip to Sedona. This was a great place to come home to at the end of the day!
- 5/5
Nice accommodating rooms. Great walking path on the grounds of the resort. Dining options.
- 5/5
Highly recommend this property.
- 5/5
We LOVED everything about this hotel!!
- 5/5
Superior place for adults
- 5/5
Gorgeous property! Friendly and accommodating staff, from the moment you arrive! Spa is amazing, from the tranquil pool area to the massages! Highly recommend!
- 4/5
Nice property. A little more attention to detail. Room smelled musty and duck poop all ober our balcony. Staff quickly responded to dead keurig and poop balcony situation. But I expected a bit more from 5 Star.
- 5/5
This was our second time staying at The Boulders. We love the peace and quiet of the resort, your own casita with a fireplace, and walking around the resort. The South Course also offers amazing views of the surrounding desert and mountain views.
- 2/5
The property was beautiful, the staff was great but the rooms were not clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Loved it
- 5/5
Beautiful accommodations, food was excellent
- 5/5
One thing, google maps entrance location is way wrong
- 5/5
Beautiful resort!
- 5/5
Fantastic magical place. I did not have a good experience with room service. The two times I tried it the first time no one answered the phone and we called and let the phone ring for a long time several times we finally gave up and skipped breakfast. they did have an option to leave our name and number and they would call us back and we did that but no one ever called us back, the second time we ordered my food was cold and we complained and they sent a new plate of food right away, but I was disappointed that it was cold in the first place. The rest of the service was fantastic at the hotel and it was our stay and I’m sure we’ll stay there again and highly recommend it to others. .
- 4/5
The property grounds are gorgeous. The food was also delicious. We only at at the Palo Verde restaurant while we were there. There were some issues with room service (e.g., not receiving what we ordered, not receiving appropriate utensils, and food took a long time to be delivered). We also had some issues reaching the front desk. We asked that a fireplace log be delivered one evening and it never was. All-in-all, we really enjoyed our time there, but there were some hiccups. We also loved the pool and life size chess set. The sunsets were amazing!
- 5/5
Quick overnight stay with my 2 teens. Wish we could have stayed longer! Room was spacious and super comfortable. Great heated pool. We also really enjoyed the convenience of the free gold cart rides from building to building. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff!
- 5/5
Amazing in a million ways. Would happily stay here again. However, the beds are tiny. We had two beds for me and my two young adult children – there is no way 2 human beings over the age of six could fit in one of those beds. We asked for a cot and was told we couldn't get one. That was a big disappointment, but everything else about the hotel and the resort were wonderful. I would welcome hearing back from the management about this.
- 5/5
Tranquil setting with great lobby bar
- 4/5
Quiet- villa pool was empty most of the time. Main lodge dining room expensive and requires reservation, bar food very good nice atmosphere. Spacious villa but dated decor. Not a lot of assistance booking dinner had to use my cell phone to call the resort and get passed around etc. Golf course customer service very good. Pickleball was not included, 50 usd/hour.
- 1/5
Villa was very old. The furniture was old and smelled. The television didn’t work the last two days at the property.
- 5/5
Lovely property!!
- 5/5
Great stay in a beautiful location.
- 5/5
Beautiful property Great rooms Quiet Terrific bed
- 5/5
I flew out for an appt at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, I was anxious about this appt and wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing to stay. This place was absolutely perfect! It's close to shopping and dining, but gives you the sense you are in the middle of nowhere. The scenery is absolutely beautiful with many types of cactus (which I love) and other desert plants/trees, and the boulders throughout are stunning! The view of the stars and night sky from the casita balcony were picturesque! The room was amazing, with a fireplace and seating area. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was so big! I loved the rustic/southwestern decor, it went perfectly with the desert outside. I loved being able to open the wooden doors to a wall of glass. I was able to enjoy the breathtaking views from inside the room too. I took advantage of the spa and had an arnica massage, which I highly recommend! The spa itself was beautiful and the staff were super friendly. The gift shop inside was really cool with a wide range of products, clothing, and many other items, and the lady who works there was very friendly and helpful. I was also able to experience an absolutely beautiful sunset on promise rock (I think is the name, it's a path leading to the top of a boulder). I would most definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience the beauty of the desert with the benefits of a resort and spa. This place definitely exceeded my expectations and I cant wait to visit again!

High end prices , dining overpriced and rooms old and not well maintained/casia had no hot water

All in all a very nice hotel and if you play golf the facilities are excellent. Staff is also top notch.

amazing experience

Beautiful grounds, but very inexperienced and untrained staff. Bad service, food not good.

We loved our stay here! It is such a beautiful resort and everyone was so nice. The room was fantastic and very clean. We plan to stay here again!

Booked a stay because of a wedding we were in in the premises and Boulders did not disappoint! They had golf carts around the clock to get you back and forth to whenever you needed to go on site. Definitely would recommend. The pricing was a bit steep so definitely plan well in advance. Overall we would return but would most likely be for a celebration or anniversary.

We cannot wait to return

It was good. Staff was very friendly. The rooms were cold. There was also a smell of sewage in the rooms

Beautiful location. Rooms and facilities showing their age. Staff was a bit disinterested. Our room very close to road and far away from main facilities even though I’m Expedia platinum. Overall, OK experience that could be awesome with a facelift and service adjustment.

Took to long to check in and we were the only guests. Tv in room was on when we entered the room and would not go off. Took 30 minutes for engineer to come and fix it. Restaurant the Grill served us dinner that was not hot…..steak and prime rib. Had to send it back.

Prepare to just sit back and relax. Everything you need for a relaxing vacation is right on property. Amazing, friendly staff. Quick room service and pool side dining service. The views are amazing. You need to book here if youre going to be in the Scottsdale area!

The staff was very courteous and eager to help. The grounds are kept up well and it was a very secure facility.

My husband and I had an amazing stay here for a week. Staff and service were great and the views and experience here was fantastic. Shuttle services around the property was very convenient. Shuttles are very quick but in the mornings they usually have a longer wait time. Guest parking was easily accessible. Uber services do have a hard time locating the lobby area and correct entrance so make sure to communicate properly with driver. Overall we would definitely recommend staying at this property.

A shame we were t able to stay longer Really enjoyed the spotted donkey restaurant

From the beautiful vistas to the tortas , the stay at The Boulders was remarkable! I only wish we could have stayed longer. Marcela at the pool was very helpful as well as Susan from Concierge Services. I can’t wait to go back.

Absolutely beautiful place. Worth the drive. Definitely will stay again.

Lovely spa. No kids allowed at the spa pool which is great. So quiet. Private casitas are spacious and quiet. Pricey breakfast. Would return.

Always a great stay!

The location is amazing, both quiet and beautiful! You'll probably park far from your room, which is fine as they have people to shuttle you around. Plan on 5-20 minutes for the service (I think they forgot about us one time). The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was WAY overpriced (about $80 for two people), but I guess that's to be expected from a resort. Would I stay here again? Absolutely!! Just know about the quirks ahead of time.

Not the place to go if you don’t bring a car. The facilities are aging and not maintained at 5-Star rating. The staff at the pool and bar were wonderful. I quite frankly did not see or experience the excellent level we expected at a resort rated this high. Overall, it was not a trip that we would recommend to anyone.

Overall beautiful resort, employees and on top of everything and super nice. All staff was very helpful and quick to offer any help needed.

Loved this stay. Some noise with HVAC and roof of casita but fabulous facilities for a fun and active stay. I’m definitely coming back!

Room was very nice and big. Courtesy shuttles are available 24hours. Food was delicious. Great for staycation.

Very nice, out of the city amenities. Felt like you was in your own little bungalow. Would stay again.

We had a lovely time, the casita was perfect, loved hanging out by the pools. The golf cart shuttle service was perfect. Staff super friendly and helpful. Great staycation!

Gorgeous resort. Views are breathtaking.

Hilton is a new owner of this property. We have stayed here 8-10 times. It is sad that the casitas are looking a little worn. Our hope is that they will do some renovations.

beautiful resort, would highly recommend

So relaxing

This is a very unique property. It is quite large and very spread out. Walkable if your young and don't mind the heat otherwise they have an excellent shuttle service. You call a certain number tell them where you want to go and they are there in no time in a golf cart. Rooms are great.

Was very excited to stay here. But got to our room and the AC wasn’t working. Had someone working on it and an hour later got it fixed but we asked for a new room, just in case it happened again. The guy that fixed was irritated and slammed the door shut. The resort was nice but probably won’t go back again and we are local and just wanted a nice staycation.

Great stay here with family. The main pool is amazing with excellent service.
- 5/5
The non driving and parking next to our unit was novel to us. Being shuttled about in a golf cart is OK but necessary due to the heat. The developer of this property was a genius and the amount of detail in a 40 year old property is amazing.
- 5/5
Simply amazing! The property is gorgeous and the staff is incredible. Can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful area. Comfy beds and showers. Found a couple bugs and small trash on the area outside
