Reviews
The hotel is generally praised for its great location, friendly and helpful staff, and cleanliness. However, there are frequent complaints about outdated rooms, issues with air conditioning, and cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers.

The only thing I would change I wish you had many fridges in the room
- 2/5
Not able to check in if you arrive early and your room is ready unless you pay a 50.00 fee. Given an adjoining room with very noisy guests next door. Staff are rude.

The valet staff is great! The hotel is stunning when you first walk in. The front desk greeted me promptly. I stayed two nights, so the cleaners made up the bed and freshened the towels for us. The pool, while small, was enjoyable and had a bar right next to it. If you choose a poolside room, you will hear ambient noise throughout the day and night, and there are NO blackout curtains that close entirely. This hotel has a restaurant on site, which is good but kind of pricey, so I took the remainder of my meal to go and got to the hotel room to find out I had no fridge! The bathroom ceiling has some mold, and the exhaust vent (with no exhaust fan option) was pushed up in and is really dirty. Other than that, it was pretty clean and an overall enjoyable stay. We used our beverage credits on the last day (you have to use them all at once) and got breakfast on the go.

Bar was amazing and the staff was great
- 4/5
This hotel is in an excellent location and has a very helpful staff. The only thing I would mark down is that while the hotel in general is very clean, someone needs to instruct housekeeping to clean the rail that the shower door goes in. Mine was pretty gross. Other than that everything was very clean.
- 4/5
The Hotel has a needs of Security Guards, the last night in my floor at 2:00Am a fight between a woman and men was originated in the hallway of eight floor, we call Front Desk and never answer, was an horrible night without sleep with this situation. The fight take about two hours.
- 3/5
The Desoto has a beautiful lobby and a fantastic staff! The hallways and room could use some TLC. Our bathroom was newly remodeled and very nice, but it did not have a counter as shown in photos but was only a pedestal sink, which is difficult when you’re traveling with a family of four. The room itself could use some love. The A/C was not responding to adjustments and wouldn’t go below 75*. I won’t count against them the drunks we heard between 12:00 am-2:00 am (the walls and doors are thin) Overall, if I were still childless in my 20s-30s to party in Savannah it’s a fine place to stay! But these days I’m a bit more spoiled and need my beauty sleep! 3.5/5

Good location. Once we parked our car we walked everywhere. I think there should have been a small refrigerator in the room, also a couple of chairs on the balcony.
- 5/5
On the downside, no refrigerator in the room.
- 1/5
Our shower water temperature did not work at all. It was either all scalding hot or cold. No balanced temperature. Reported it two days and never fixed. We ended up taking cold showers for two days. Otherwise the room was nice.

Loved the De Soto. It was our first stay there and we will return! Love the location and the restaurants near by.
- 4/5
Absolutely gorgeous hotel! Located in such a cute area with a lot of sites to see. A perfect location for a nice evening walk! The front desk staff could have been friendlier.
- 2.5/5
Location was good Room was a big disappointment . Bathroom was very small. Big cracks in mirror. Outlets would not hold a plug in!! No refrigerator. Safety factor for senior single woman was not good, was next to stairs. Now I see you charged me for the outlet service pin bathroom!!!!!! TERRIBLE!!!
- 5/5
Location is excellent. Was able to walk everywhere and we did have a car. Hotel charges 54$ for parking, but street parking was plentiful and free on weekends and after 5 pm. 2$/hr from 8 am til 5 pm and free overnight. App lets you pay for parking without going to car. Would definitely return. Lots of great coffee, bars and restaurants in walking distance.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, would definitely stay at The DeSoto again!
- 5/5
The breakfast cafe food is very reasonably priced and pretty good food. I stayed on the 5th floor it smelt a little, asked to be moved and they had no hesitation and moved me to the 8th floor. This floor did not smell but has also seen better days. I am not sure if other floors have been renovated but these two floors are in need of. The price is also pretty good at this hotel, it just desperately needs a refresh!

- 5/5
The property was very clean and in a great, centrally located part of the city. Our stay there was as good as it gets.
- 3/5
Lighting in rooms terrible. Yellow lighting and not enough. Engineering did get me another table lamp, helpful. No seating on balcony- very odd. Food in restaurant great. At breakfast second morning I was told they close down in 15 minutes. Not sure why that was necessary. You’re still open and serving. Great location, walkable to all I needed. Valet and front desk exceptional service.

Location location location. Went for a long weekend with 3 other couples. Perfect spot to explore, return, enjoy the pool bar and then go out for dinner. We walked everywhere - visited all the squares on a bike tour, headed to market street, found great bars and roof top places. Reasonable price compared to other places.
- 5/5
Beautiful property that is convenient to exploring downtown Savannah.
- 5/5
Staff is great. Rooms could use some updating
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 3/5
Lobby is well maintained with beautiful art from SCAD. Rooms do not have the amenities compared to other hotels such as refrigerator and/or microwave. Vending rooms only had ice machine and trash cans filled, not empty. There is only 1 microwave for the entire hotel in the lobby. Fitness room is outside near the pool. If it rains or storms, you can't work out or have to walk through the storm. Great historical site but not convenient for the average traveler. Coffee shops and restaurants are great and within walking distance. Parking too expensive, more than the Marriott. They add an amenities fee with no amenities to charge. There is one in house restaurant and bar with coffee shop (closes early). No room service.
- 4/5
A really nice hotel in a fantastic location. Lots to do nearby, and walkable to River St. They do mean "double bed" in the booking, if you're larger, I'd recommend booking the king. Very friendly front staff. Pool was nice, but not enough chairs, so we didn't get to enjoy it. This hotel is definitely work a look if it's in your budget.

Not first time for us to stay there, and will stay there again if we travel to Savannah GA Luxury, Great location, walking distance to dinners.

Love the DeSoto! The staff is lovely. The rooms are clean and well taken care of. We always have a fun time at the hotel bar. Love the pool area. The hotel is in the perfect location for exploring downtown Savannah. If you like to exercise, the fitness room is lacking and machines are often broken, but other than that, the hotel is a 10/10!

Staff was not helpful when I was question duplicate charge holds on my account; room needed some updating and sadly the pool was not open for the season yet which was odd because temperatures in Savannah are quite hot.

Everything was magnificent. The staff the food the room just a great place to stay…
- 3/5
I am from Savannah and was not very impressed with the room. The view was amazing and staff was kind.
- 3/5
The rooms are not regularly deep cleaned as we moved one of the beds and it clearly had not been cleaned in months and several areas of the bathroom were not cleaned properly. (Mildew in the shower track, stain on the white vanity door (was able to clean myself with some intentional scrubbing). The lobby and restaurants are beautiful. Pool area was also great. Staff were pleasant but super attentive. Parking is a little on the expensive side at $53/night but it was valet so understandable. (No self parking available) Overall it was a decent place to stay but I will likely not be back.
- 3.5/5
The restaurant breakfast was good. The dinner options were terrible. The appetizers were terrible compared to a costal region, they could have had better selections.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 4/5
A few takeaways - no refrigerator in the rooms. No umbrellas and minimal seating at the pool. No music or outside bar, there is one but not staffed. The chairs on our patio could have been better but did what we needed. The hotel is in a great area, walking to all the shops, restaurants and attractions are super close.
- 4/5
The hotel is about what I expected. It's an old hotel with a great reputation. If your looking for a modern updated hotel, this is not It. If you're looking for a hotel with history and an excellent location, this is it

The location was great. But there wasn’t wasn’t any food available during the day. The coffee shop closed early and the pool bar never opened on Saturday. Our room didn’t get cleaned on our first night there. The maid wanted to get off work early and decided to lie and say certain rooms didn’t want to be cleaned. Other than that it was ok.
- 5/5
Staff was helpful and amazing. The renovations made to this hotel were spot on. This hotel is in the perfect location when walking the historic district.
- 5/5
Lovely staff, lovely location. I would go there again.
- 5/5
Everyone we interacted with at the hotel was friendly, polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. The concierge was exceptionally well informed about the tours we wanted to do and gave us some good tips about how to optimize our use of the hop-on, hop-off trolley. We had breakfast in the restaurant one morning and while the menu is a bit limited, but food and service were very good. While we didn't plan to use the pool, it was still disappointing that it was out of service. It's likely open again by the time I'm writing this. Our room was spacious and elevated. Plenty of space to store clothes and spread out. There was a mini fridge and a microwave, which is a nice touch. Our room had a small balcony for fresh air, though because of the hotel location and our lower floor there wasn't much of a view. We would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Great location where pretty much everything you could want to do is walkable. Very modern and cute downtown feel to it and the bar attached had a great selection of mocktails. Pool wasn’t as big as it seemed in the picture but still rather nice.
- 4/5
Need tea bags in addition to coffee in room
- 4/5
Great location near many activities. Staff was awesome. My only issue was the shower in the bathroom. The water pressure went near zero every couple of minutes and turned ice cold. Difficult to get through washing hair. Also the tile floor in the shower was very slippery and there were no grab bars. Other than that, everything was awesome.
- 5/5
The location is amazing! The staff were wonderfully hospitable, the pool was a great spot to lounge and relax, and we enjoyed having cocktails at the bar.
- 4/5
Con: Pool was closed and there was no prior notification. Part of my search engine for a hotel in Savannah was based on the hotel having a pool. We were unable to enjoy the pool due to the closure. Very disappointing.
- 5/5
Really nice spot, friendly service
- 5/5
It’s right in the middle of where you want to be. The staff is great.
- 5/5
Our 2nd stay at the DeSoto, and we love it! It’s proximity to the highway for travel and within walking distance to food and shopping. We love the historic neighborhood! Shout out to the valet team- always courteous and hustling!
- 4/5
Convenient valet parking. The $53/daily was a little much, but valet service was superb.
- 3/5
I gave a 3 on some because we were really disappointed to find out at check in the pool was closed. This was the main reason we booked the hotel. Would be nice to know this ahead of time or at least receive a discount since we didn’t have a pool to enjoy. Hotels with pools always charge more so we should have been given that instead of one drink ticket per person. Otherwise the staff was great and the hotel was beautiful.

overall a good hotel. friendly staff. enjoyable. the downside is not enough light and counter space in the bathroom
- 5/5
Excellent Hotel. We would stay there again.
- 5/5
Perfectly situated for walkability to shops, tours, the Riverwalk, Marketplace, and nightlife. The staff members were delightful. Rooms were lovely with stellar views.
- 4/5
We frequent the DeSoto a good bit. Was unfortunate that this time there was a conference literally right in front of our room that filled what was supposed to be a relaxing visit with incredible noise most of the day from the conference and then most of the evening from the reception that happened at the pool which was right outside of our balcony. We don’t generally have issues at this property so we are treating it as a one off. Would LOVE for them to be more realistic with their valet rates when it’s the only parking option available. $55/day is a bit disgusting
- 5/5
The staff were incredible from the vallet team as you enter to the front desk friendly and upgraded us to a city view . I was here two weeks prior at the bar restaurant where they impromptu hosted my daughters rehearsal cocktail party for her wedding after another rooftop was closed for evevt ! Javier in vallet above and beyond !

Breakfast offered a good selection
- 3/5
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable but the base of the bed was all beat up and the rug under the bed couldn’t be more unattractive. Our room had a good view of the city which was nice. The location is really convenient and that is a positive. Unfortunately, the pool which is a nice attraction was closed. And half the palms around the hotel pool area are dead. Also parking is $53 a night, which is far too much!
- 2.5/5
The pool was out of service, they didn’t tell us at check-in. We had to go find out ourselves. It had been out of service for about 4 days already. They should’ve mentioned it. Also was advertised as having a pool bar, it was not stocked, set up or open.
- 5/5
Great valet and front desk
- 1/5
Failed to mention the pool was closed. Never would have booked.
- 5/5
Super accommodating, Great Location…..
- 5/5
Restaurant staff were fantastically welcoming. Food was delicious. Hotel is right in the heart of old historic Savannah and backs onto a beautifully provisioned bookshop, you can see about 3 restaurants from the front steps, and the valet staff have great tips if you ask them.
- 4/5
Was told Maintenance was being done & it was unsafe to use very disappointed Concierge was very pleasant, helpful and informative.
- 5/5
We had a great two night stay at the DeSoto. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly. It was located very close to everything we wanted to do.
- 3/5
The pool was closed because they neglected to get it pre approved by board of health which needed to be done. Someone dropped the ball on that. I was very disappointed since the pool was the main reason I booked the property. I was not happy and insisted to be recompensed for that and was given a 25% refund on our room for the entire stay (the squeaky wheel gets greased). Our room was not cleaned when we returned at 2:45 which is unacceptable for people staying multiple nights. We needed to shower and dress for an event so we just exchanged used towels for new towels and made our own beds. Not something I want to do on vacation. The hallways need a refresh. Carpets fraying and need to be repainted. Lastly our bathroom was in need of refresh. If all these things get addressed the hotel would be worth the price. Otherwise not.
- 3/5
We specifically booked this hotel to have a relaxing day by the pool after sightseeing. When we checked in, we were told the pool was closed. Very HUGE disappointment and we should’ve been told prior to coming. The hotel staff was rude about it and didn’t offer any compensation for the inconvenience.
- 5/5
It was our first time staying at The DeSoto and visiting Savannah. The hotel is in a great location in the historic district. It’s beautifully maintained with a mix of old and new. The staff was friendly and checking in was a breeze

The location of the hotel, the inviting lobby, and decent pool and patio area were the highlights. One of the two beds in our room was old and sagging. That’s not great for the back! I’m sure a few years ago the hotel was a notch up, but things just look tired and in need of a bit of extra care. We were pleasantly surprised by a fabulous dinner at the bar (from the main restaurant kitchen). The food was terrific!
- 5/5
Staff, valet and concierge were extremely helpful.
- 5/5
The room was very clean. Downside, no fridge in the room and the pool and gym were both closed due to maintenance. Overall, great location and fabulous staff.

This hotel is not worth the price anymore. The room was not clean. The pillows need to be thrown away. They were so used up. The coffee was terrible and the bathroom was not well stocked with shampoo etc. The view was great and that’s about it.
- 5/5
Room was clean and quiet during the week. No fridge in room.

The bar had great covktails and friendly bartender. Our room was clean but needed some updating. The location is perfect. Its walking distance to most everything.

Room was large and clean. Good shower. Excellent pool area

Clean hotel in great location.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in the perfect location to explore Savannah. The staff was friendly, especially the valets! Definitely recommend getting a balcony room to overlook the city.
- 2/5
Ok I love the location of this hotel but it wasn't a good stay and for $344 a night I expected more!!! The tv didn't work and the water would random go to a trickle and go cold before getting hot again. Also the bathroom made some very load noise randomly as my kids try to sleep. They did renovations quickly and sloppy that it makes the room look dirty. I have reach out with document of all of this, waiting to hear back.
- 4/5
We had construction awaken my wife earlier than planned this morning. Other than that, we loved the comfort and beauty and location of the hotel. I'm sure the construction before 8am was an oversight. The shower needs a deep clean from some mold. The linens were clean and the bed was very comfortable.
- 5/5
Enjoyed the breakfast. Toomeas great. Have stayed at least 2 x previously with impeccable service.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Friendly staff. I would recommend parking down the street in other parking garages as the valet is expensive. Otherwise, great hotel.
- 4/5
My room was fine and clean. When the sheets were changed, a stained sheet was put on the bed which was unpleasant so I slept in the other bed. I was shocked by the condition of the floor in another guest's room. The faux wood floor was damaged in numerous places. That room should have been closed for repairs. It would have looked bad in a two-star hotel. One elevator's control control panel was broken and ajar although all elevators worked well. Except for the stained sheet, my room was fine so I would call this an overpriced three-star hotel. Nice lobby, good coffee available in lobby coffee shop. Main floor restaurant looked nice but I never had chance to eat there. Great location for our purposes within easy walking distance of many things. Good restaurants nearby. I would call it an overpriced three-star hotel. If I was in Savannah again, I would look for something better for the price, although I could stay there again if nothing better was available.
- 5/5
nice older hotel in great shape. comfortable , clean, updated bathroom/shower. nice balcony to sit with coffee. Great location , restaurants , shopping nearby .

It was an absolute nightmare staying here. The rooms are tiny, dated and unkept. There was a substance that looked like black mold in my room. The room was unbearably hot since the heat didn’t work. Pictures are in the Google review for back up. https://maps.app.goo.gl/GaVtj7s3U6uvdL2n7?g_st=ic

Our stay at the DeSoto was great! It’s so close and convenient to everything in Historic District. The staff are all friendly and helpful! Reese and Charli were both great valets! This wasn’t our first stay, and it won’t be our last!
- 5/5
Very clean room the bed was lovely and comfortable, staff were accommodating and friendly. Skip going for the add on breakfast package . But definitely go to 1540 Room, it’s charming and inviting dining room makes you feel at home; great coffee with some amazing blueberry pancakes = excellent way to wake up.
- 4/5
was surprised by the wear and tear of the room. It was a very spacious room, with comfortable beds and modern decor; however, there was a lot of paint that needed retouched up. The paint on the door to the room was completely chipping off on two sides, there were marks on the walls that needed painted over, the vent in the shower was completely filled with dust, and some stains on the ceiling, etc. I was just surprised with how pristine the lobby and everything else is, that these easy revocations/cleaning/updates were not done.
- 5/5
Bright beautiful hotel in a great location, near most of the attractions. Helpful friendly staff. Nice pool, bar and restaurant. Definitely the hotel I would pick when I return in the future.

- 4/5
Room was clean, car attendants wonderful and cheery. Bar staff fun. Restaurant’s staff so pleasant, especially morning hostess! Very well situated in downtown. Can walk anywhere. Again, got a second rate room location and had to ask to be moved as the room entered directly onto a public walkway next to the pool. Public had clear view of inside room. Were we placed there because of using a third party site. Tired of getting shabby rooms.

I can’t say enough nice comments about our experience at the De Soto! EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY was friendly and helpful. They all were smiling and happy with a good sense of humor. We will be staying here again! 👏👏👏
- 5/5
Great experience, breakfast was awesome, valets were top notch, best barista at the lobby coffee bar! All the staff was extremely helpful any time we needed anything. Only draw back of the whole stay was the pool area. They only have about 10 chase lounge chairs and 2 of them were ripped to the point that they were unusable. It was great if you were one of the first guest to get to the pool but after 10:00 am there were about 30 people standing around looking for a place to sit. Also, pool bR never opened once in our 5 day stay.

Beautiful hotel, great staff and in the middle of the historic district. The draw back is the pool bar never opened in the 5 days we were there and there was 8 chase lounge chairs around the pool (2 were ripped) and 40 people looking for someplace to lay in the sun!! Would stay there again but wouldn’t expect to use the pool. Best barista ever, in the hotel coffee stand and the valet staff is phenomenal!

Great location in the beautiful historic district and the pool was nice. This is a tough review to write as I really try to give the benefit of the doubt but in this case it wouldn’t be fair to future travelers considering this hotel. I think this may have been the worst hotel experience my husband and I have experienced in all of our years of travel. Maybe our expectations were too high but I figured for the location (which was great) and what appeared to be a charming historic hotel, we would have an enjoyable experience. So many things were going wrong, I asked to speak to the GM, Mitch Linder to give him feedback and let him know what we were experiencing. He was very approachable and gracious and offered to comp us a night plus a food and beverage credit. He advised he would follow up the next day (he didn’t). Though we appreciated that gesture we would have much preferred to have an enjoyable stay and pay full price. I’ll start with the worst - housekeeping. When they did decide to come, they barely did anything. Left trash cans full, didn’t sweep or vacuum, upon arrival our toilet clearly hadn’t been cleaned. Used glasses were not replaced. It was pretty unbelievable. Interestingly, when we first entered our room, the only thing that greeted us was a QR code for tipping! No welcome anything, no robes, no room service option, no dry cleaning, just asking for tips. Pretty tacky. Though there were so many other problems that added up to a pretty horrible stay, I’ll just say that their business model is odd and off-putting. For a hotel that can’t even keep the rooms clean, they nickel and dime you and offer these tacky gimmicks - $10 toward the coffee shop if you don’t want your room clean, but you need to go each day to the desk to the voucher and then hope the coffee shop is open. We purchased breakfast included. Well, no, it was $30 toward the cost of your breakfast which was clearly going to be more than that. Want a late check out (we didn’t) that’s $50 for the first hour and $100 for the next etc. No towels at the pool, mo

Wonderful staff, location. Just wish they are microwaves and refrigerators in rooms.
- 4/5
It was convenient and places were in good walking distance and restaurants around the hotel were good and reasonably priced. The only thing is the tub in the hotel room needs to be re-done.
- 5/5
Great hotel in downtown Savannah. Walking distance to a few restaurants and attractions.
- 5/5
They welcomed us with open arms. Then the lady in the restaurant on site where we ate breakfast on Saturday was so kind and helpful. The most amazing person was Becky, the concierge. She helped us plan dinners and tours and went over and above to help us. I would definitely stay here again, and I recommend it to anybody that is travellng to Savannah.
- 5/5
Only stayed one night, but would come again. Great location. The pool deck is great, we stayed with our toddler and the pool was awesome for him. Half of it is only a foot deep, so super easy for toddler splashing.
- 3/5
Can’t say enough about the staff though!!!
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice room overlooking the city. Very convenient to historic downtown locations and coupled with delightful April weather made strolling around the sight’s delightful. If I had one suggestion it would be to expand the menu offerings in the hotel restaurant for dinner. Breakfast is reasonably priced and delightful.

Staff extremely helpful.

Loved the bar, beautiful lobby and excellent location.
- 5/5
The location was excellent, easy to walk about 15-20 minutes to get all over town (food, drinking, shopping, tours, historic sights). Clean and comfortable room, great city view, pool outdoors was beautiful, bar was lively every night, coffee shop so convenient, Howard was extremely helpful to book trolly and explain special stops not to miss, restaurant looked amazing (missed chance to eat there, but will next time). All staff was very helpful, with great attitudes. Will book at DeSoto again.

The front desk staff was amazing along with the Francis at Proof and Provisions. The staff in the 1540 room amazing for breakfast and Howard the concierge. I can’t explain how amazing the experience was. Will definitely be booking again

Location was great. Rooms hadn't had a deep clean in a long time. General feeling of management not caring. Paint peeling off bathroom door, deep dust layer in shower air filter, lots of dust and dirt. Generally felt unclean. Bed linen were itchy. Didnt even have a fridge in room. Pool area looks a lot more run down than the pictures show. Definitely not a 4 star "upscale" vibe.

The property is ok it does have good amenities but you can hear the guests next to your room very clearly when they talk even quetly. A lot of noise around as well.
- 3/5
I’ve stayed at this hotel previously and this time it just seemed okay. A little bit depressing to notice the downturn. The room was bare and mismatched. The toilet was running and the towel bar fell off the wall when I took a towel off it. The staff was pleasant though and the bar and outdoor seating was very nice.
- 5/5
Our recent stay was a truly wonderful experience. From beginning to end we really enjoyed Savannah in general and The DeSoto in particular. It's a quick taxi from the airport. The location is perfect in our opinion. Top notch staff at the front desk, restaurant, bar, coffee bar, valet, concierge and housekeeping. Well done! The dining room served a great breakfast. We had prompt and friendly service at the bar. The valet staff offered his advice when we asked for his professional opinion on transport back to the airport and we were glad we took it. The area is perfect with four super restaraunts off-site within one block either direction. There is a nice clean gas station/convenience store one block down on Drayton St. The pool area was certainly enjoyable as well. Easy walking towards the river. Easy walking to Forsythe Park. Beautiful public squares everywhere you turn and if you want to take a guided tour of historical sites your options are plentiful. If you're planning a trip to Savannah you really should check into The Desoto. I know we will the next time we visit. My one and only complaint would be to have the staff on the same page as far as the go green program goes. We did receive mixed messages on how the voucher was applied. In the end, our efforts to reduce room service visits did not reward us with any drink vouchers. Don't let that stop you though. The Desoto is a quality establishment worthy of your visit.
- 4/5
Staff was ok. Pool is not heated is what I’m told. Hallway of hotel is outdated and not well lit.
- 5/5
Great customer service. Very friendly. Especially the Valet.
- 4/5
The hotel is beautiful, it has an onsite restaurant serving breakfast and dinner (we didn’t try but options look great), plus onsite quick coffee shop and bar. We were also able to enjoy the pool, and it was great. The gym could use some updating. Staff were attentive and friendly. While the general areas (lobby, restaurant, entrance) were clean, I think our room and floor could have been cleaner. Overall we had a great stay, just wish housekeeping would be more detailed and thorough. Also worth noting that it’s pet friendly and very centrally located and walkable to all points of interest.
- 4/5
When we got there the valet guys were just standing out side but we were not helped with our bags lol I was checking in and I see my partner making multiple trips to bring our bags in (eventually he found a bag cart and loaded them on there). At check in, I was charged the full price of the room + incidentals, even though the room has already been paid for. The girl who checked me in said nothing, after she charged my card she just handed me room keys. When I noticed the charged I messaged them thinking it’s an error, they tried to say the charge was valid and they would email me a receipt, which they did not (I went to the desk the next day and they apologized and said it was an error). Outside of that, our stay was very nice. The room was very pretty and had a great view and balcony. We got couples massages at their spa (FYI it’s not a real spa, it’s an empty hotel room with massage beds.. which was a little off putting (due to the price) but they did a good job). We were also approved for late check out but opted to check out early (still was charged for it). We loaded our bags back into our car and left. I like good customer service so I likely will not be back, but the property/room is beautiful.
- 4/5
The breakfast in the dining room was delicious and the staff in there were lovely.
- 5/5
Great hotel in a great location closer to the park and the better restaurants in town. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
All good!
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
Love our visit here, awesome staff, good location and good food.
- 5/5
The Staff was super friendly and helpful!
- 3/5
The De Soto experience was mediocre at best. The condition of the hotel and rooms shows excessive wear. Banged up elevators, peeling paint on furniture in the room, grease on the wall around the balcony door, mildew in the caulking around the shower, and dented and gouged floor floors in the room to name a few. The hotel is showing its age. The pool area was dirty and pool furniture was falling apart.
- 3/5
A bit dated - my room 305 was loud by the elevators, could hear doors slamming all morning and housekeeping knocked before ten. The front desk at check in was very nice and gave me great local recs. Good location and parking was easy as I lucked out on a nearby street parking space.
- 5/5
Excellent service, loved my room and view
- 2.5/5
Passable
- 5/5
Staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly! Hotel was beautiful and the food and bev options at the hotel were great!
- 2/5
Staff were excellent. Location was very good. Common areas appeared to be well maintained and well presented. Numerous maintenance issues that have been neglected in our room 1006. Obviously we did not have access to other rooms, however having been involved in renovation projects for hotels in the past, it would be predictable that this was not an isolated situation.
- 3/5
The light and clock kept turning on and off like the cord or something loose the beds weren’t that comfortable and the valet service wasn’t great for being 53 dollars a day. On a brighter note the location and the housekeeping staff were great. Probably won’t stay again because the amount you pay isn’t worth it,
- 5/5
Excellent
- 3/5
Room was clean. We were not told how to get the credit for not having room cleaned and missed some days because it was too late
- 5/5
A tried and true gem of Savannah! This property is located in the middle of the historic district and easy to get into/out of off using Interstate I-16. Also quick walking to Savannah’s 4&5-star dining establishments(The Old Pink House on Abercorn Square; Vic’s on The River - 26 Easy Bay St.; and the venerable B. Matthew’s down on East Bay - for the best brunch, easy on the wallet, in Savannah/Chatham Co.). The hotel is an older, historic property that has been upgraded, but it did not loose it’s original charm. Their service is impeccable and is worth the price, even on busy Savannah weekends. Enjoy!

- 5/5
Yes.
- 4/5
The ice machine on our floor never had ice. The pool was closed for the last 2 days before we left for cleaning. The gym bathroom was not well kept and staff was notified 2 days in a row. Each room should have had mini fridges and it only had a bucket for ice which I had to go to another floor to get.
- 5/5
Emaculate room and hotel, very friendly and accommodating staff. Delicious breakfast
- 5/5
The DeSoto was so clean and beautiful. The staff was friendly. The view was amazing. We loved being in the heart of Savannah. Shopping and restaurants were so close.
- 5/5
Legendary historic hotel - Luxurious and optimally located
- 4/5
Didn't have breakfast at hotel.
- 5/5
Breakfast options were great! Pool was closed during our stay so couldn’t access that which was a bummer because we had two 90 degree days. And yes, we had some paranormal experiences as we were told that Savannah had a history of hauntings. Two nights we had repeated knocking on our room door and phantom calls on the room phone. Eerie but kinda cool!!
- 3.5/5
location is perfect best in savannah the bed was very comfy the room was very quiet valet parking was easy and quick parking staff were very friendly parking way over priced in-room coffee was horrible front desk staff not much help didn't see anyone who looked like a manager breakfast staff were great the food was good but the price for breakfast was stupid high over $400 for one night stay with parking and breakfast way too high

Perfect location in historic downtown N/A

Location, cheerful environment, pool No fridge inn room,
- 2/5
Proximity to everything downtown. Not very wheelchair friendly.
- 3.5/5
Excellent location, can’t beat the proximity to all of the must sees and must eats! The hotel coffee shop was closed most of our stay, but there was a great coffee shop the next block over. The hotel restaurant was closed as well, but possibly due to St. Paddy’s Day. The room itself was really nice, incredible views of historic Savannah all the way to the river. Bathrooms are dated and a bit dingy but clean nonetheless … overall great choice for the location!
- 3/5
Location. The lobby area was beautiful. Valet staff was wonderful Very loud club across the street from our room.
- 5/5
Great location nothing
- 5/5
Location and parking.
- 5/5
Convenient location. We walked down to the River fron several times. Staff friendly & helpful.
- 4/5
Street noise can be loud late into the night. Windows and balcony doors not the tightest so sound infiltrates.
- 3/5
Pool was closed and cheese platyer left outside our room for over 24 hkurs and no one picked it up
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and informative
- 5/5
Friendly staff, very clean and fancy, great location!
- 5/5
Our room was spacious and comfortable. The bar was great for drinks after a day of sightseeing. Food choices were minimal. Location was great and every where we went in the historic district was walkable.
- 5/5
Raven at the front desk was fantastic and Charlie with valet service was extremely helpful.
- 3/5
I booked the hotel under the VIP hotel.com Gold members program with early check in if room is available. Room was available, but the front desk wanted to charge. It did not honour the program.
- 5/5
Comfy beds, great location, helpful staff and great hotel bar.
- 4/5
Location is great - walking distance to almost everything. The room is very nice, and the desk staff and valet staff are very friendly. Our only disappointment was that there weren't many little sitting areas in the hotel to sit quietly and read or relax outside your room.
- 5/5
Also, the lady who seated us for breakfast, was absolutely delightful with her knowledge of the area! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and being an artist so enjoyed the artwork you displayed in entrance and surrounding areas of hotel! A shoutout to your doormen and women, also!! Wonderful people! So happy we chose De Soto Hotel!!!

Amazing, no complaints

Clean, convenient and friendly staff

When I arrived late in the evening, in a city I had never visited before, I waited outside for approximately 10 minutes for valet service and no one came. When I went inside to ask the security guard what I should do, I was told they didn’t know where the valet was. The guard remained seated and continued using their phone without offering further assistance. After checking in, I mentioned the valet situation to the front desk attendant but was not given clear instructions on what to do with my car. I went back outside to look again for valet and still no one was there. I returned to the front desk to ask again and was simply told to “go to valet.” When I asked where that was located, I was finally given directions. Overall, I felt unwelcome and unsupported during the arrival process. For a hotel of this level, I expected better communication and assistance, especially for guests arriving at night in an unfamiliar city.
- 5/5
The staff has been amazing! So friendly and accommodating!
- 5/5
Clean, quiet room with nice bath amenities, great location that's walkable to anything in the historic district.
- 5/5
Breakfast itself was good, but I would not recommend prepaying for it through Expedia. Since the hotel does not offer a buffet and instead has an à-la-carte breakfast, this created a lot of confusion. The staff seemed unsure how to handle the prepaid breakfast, and I ended up being charged extra. Overall, the stay was comfortable, but I suggest paying for breakfast directly at the hotel rather than in advance.
- 4/5
Beautiful hotel in great area of the Historic District! Friendly staff... Only negative was I wish they'd told us the pool was closed for repairs.
- 5/5
The view, the cleanliness, the staff, the food- all of it. We had a lovely time and this is going to be a destination for every anniversary.
- 5/5
Comfortable room with a convenient location walking distance from all there is to see in Savannah!
- 5/5
We had issues with two rooms, but they were very accommodating.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, coffee shop staff was very friendly

Everything was awesome except the front desk lady with purplish or redisg hair. She was very eude.

Yes and very yes!

Everything was great

The $50/night valet parking was not clearly stated on the website. They advertise “parking “ but don’t tell you it’s extra.
- 4/5
Clean and comfortable, not luxurious, although the room could have used a coffee machine. Also, traditional breakfast at the restaurant was very good, but dinner was odd; obscurely spiced and a rather obtuse menu.

Great location.

No housekeeping our entire stay and disappointed we didn’t have a refrigerator in the room

Staff were wonderful. The gentleman at information desk was very knowledgeable. He was very helpful compared to the woman. The restaurant farm to table was disappointing. Fish was not fully cooked. Had no flavor. Salty and definitely not fresh side. Canned tomatoes with fresh zucchini. Manager gave us a story of how fish is caught and reason for the meal not fully cooked. Excuse me but that’s nonsense. Save your money dinner is expensive and not worth it. Lots of nicer restaurants in walking distance. The breakfast was good and staff and hosted were so pleasant. The pub is nice. Plus pub food was better than the fine dining. The front desk staff were wonderful and very nice. The gentleman that greeted guests at main entrance were so helpful and pleasant in making you feel welcomed. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. I look forward to my next visit minus the fine dining.
- 4/5
We really liked the location of the hotel, it was close to everything. Honestly the room was a little disappointing. It was very small and just felt like it needed updating. The bathtub was chipped, the door to the balcony needed replacing and it just seemed outdated and not as nice as the rest of the hotel. The hotel restaurant was a very nice surprise. The food was very good and affordable. Later night hours would be nice. Our bartender Brendan and waiter Shorty were the highlight of our stay. They were wonderful, so friendly and attentive. For the price though we would likely stay somewhere different next time.
- 5/5
I would highly recommend.
- 5/5
Great location. Kind staff
- 5/5
Always the staff and food and bar ! Best location! You can walk to the park and you can walk to the riverfront there’s so many great places downtown
- 3/5
Staff was fine, bed was comfy, room was small and dated.
- 5/5
- 5/5
First off, front desk, valet, and general staff were all friendly. The hotel is beautiful and well appointed. The room was spotless and the beds were comfortable ( semi soft/ pillow top) with plenty of pillows. There wasn't a fridge in the room and the pool was still closed. There is plenty of street parking if you don't use Valet.
- 5/5
Amazingly clean, and comfortable rooms. Classy atmosphere. Excellent staff attention to detail. Well priced restaurant and bar. Will certainty stat again
- 4/5
The hotel was nice, so was the staff. The only thing I did not like was there was no coffee maker in the room. Otherwise a very nice place to stay and good location. We walked into the main areas of Savannah within 15 mins.
- 4/5
Room was clean and staff was very curtious.
- 5/5
Beautiful Decor...Spotless Room...Exceptional Staff...
- 5/5
Great staff, I can't remember everyone by name, but folks like Raven at the front desk and the ladies at 1540 were excellent.
- 5/5
We had a great time
- 2/5
Staff was good, room was very underwhelming and not very clean. Falsely advertised in pictures on the site, not worth the $200 a night
- 5/5
Nice view of city.

Clean room, friendly staff, location was awesome
- 5/5

I came home with bed bugs bites all over my arms and face. Hotel acknowledged the problem. A review from 2024 with same bed bugs issue suggests the hotel failed to clean up this major unfortunate situation. I now have the bugs in my house
- 5/5
Large hotel with amenities we sadly had no time to use. We just wanted to be centrally located for our brief visit. The valet staff was superb.
- 4/5
Clean room,Lil older hotel but Nice

Perfect location and friendly staff

Love the location of this hotel. The staff is fabulous and always so friendly! The bar is fun and offers a great variety of drinks!
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful
- 4/5
Nice clean room, excellent location only negative point is only valet parking for guest @ 60 bucks per day

Roman was spotless however there was a slight oder maybe stale cigarette smoke. Staff was of the charts esp the doormen.
- 5/5
Great staff, location, and the room was clean.
- 5/5
The staff was so nice, friendly and helpful. The room and hotel was very clean! The hotel was in a great location and we walked everywhere we went.

Staff were friendly and informative

Yes, excellent
- 4/5
Good location but the hotel shows its age.
- 1/5
Very good people low quality building
- 2/5
Staff very unprofessional. No hospitality skills at all. Never greet you do not seem like they wanna be there.
- 5/5
Everything and everyone were nice
- 5/5
Really love the location and the rooms
- 4/5
Room 321: Bathtub/shower area was not thoroughly cleaned prior to my stay (Hair in tub) No fridge & no microwave in the room :( Overall good stay
- 3/5
Lots of banging …
- 5/5
Everything was absolutely amazing. Centrally located for walking the entire historic district.
- 5/5
Great location, restaurant menu was also great. The hotel lobby and lounge is very nice and cozy.
- 5/5
Spotless and great location, pet friendly too
- 4/5
The room was clean and spacious. We asked to be moved the first night due to a loud humming in the room. In the second room, our AC stopped working. The maintenance staff was quick to fix the problem. Hotel is in the perfect spot to walk the city. We love Savannah!
- 1/5
Let’s add some other detail to the room… The balcony, which I was excited to use on New Years Eve, was screwed shut. The slider, that used to be the door, was drafty and made it so we had to set the thermostat much higher than we would ever set it. The room was old, run down and not on par with a four star hotel. They gave us a coupon upon arrival for $23.00 and more $10.00 coupons for not having daily room service that we were told could be used on property, but weren’t able to be used at the restaurant. So what good are these?!? The coffee shop would take them, but was out of hot chocolate the entire time we stayed. We left without using most of them. There are better choices of places to say in Savannah. We won’t be back.
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful and polite. Valet workers was amazing!!
- 4/5
Room was beautiful. Great view!
- 5/5
Hotel was beautiful and so beautifully decorated for Christmas! Staff was refreshingly respectful, helpful and cheerful! Thanks to all for making our stay rememberable! A big shout out to Gay and Scott!
- 4/5
Nice hotel in good location. Reception staff mixed up room assignments and one of our rooms was not ready till almost 5pm when check-in is at 4pm. Rooms doors slam closed and should be spring loaded to avoid this. Was woken up to slamming doors on our floor. 1540 Room dinner staff excellent but breakfast staff hostess very grumpy.
- 3/5
Location was good however hotel was old. Room cleaning was not performed and I had to requested them twice to send housekeeping to clean the room
- 4/5
La bañera estaba con pelos y se llenaba agua cuando uno se duchaba, noplr
- 5/5
Great location and staff!
- 4/5
Great location. Ok hotel.
- 5/5
Quick check in and enjoyed the drink voucher after a long travel day.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly, the bellmen were great! The room was nice and a good size, the bed was very comfortable and we had a nice view. I forgot to ask about the VIP credit and the hotel did not mention it. I forgot about it. The location was fantastic. I would love to stay here again.
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful in helping us find interesting places to visit and places to eat at on Christmas Eve. The travel consultant talked with us about the history of Savannah and its economics.
- 5/5
I only recommend to the hotel to put wine coolers in the rooms and also cofee machine and also glass cup
- 4/5
The stay was great but way too much communication. I got an email or text at least twice daily and the last days prior to stay, it was one after the other after the other, it was overwhelming. And annoying.
- 4/5
This hotel is in a great location and very convenient for walking. Rooms are very nice and clean, but don’t have a refrigerator or a microwave, which really wasn’t a problem for us. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only negative I had was that the pillows on the bed are so huge. I don’t know how anybody would be able to sleep with them. I would definitely stay here again, but next time travel with my own pillow. Other than that, love this place!
- 4/5
We were able to get quiet room on the upper level of the hotel and the view was nice. Nicely decorated for the holidays. I didn’t like the smell of weed everytime we passed vallet area at the entrance. I would stay again.
- 1/5
Room was mediocre and outdated, not what expected
- 5/5
The hotel was beautifully decorated and the service, from the valet to the front desk, and the restaurants, was all exceptional; very polite, friendly and professional. Great location to be out of the thick of the tourism district but only a couple blocks to walk to. Easy walk to everything and great restaurants all nearby. Hotel room was very comfortable, beds were great! Great price as well!
- 5/5
We always come back here
- 4/5
Front desk was nice. Barista at coffee shop in lobby was rude. Pipes rattled constantly. Room was clean. Beautiful view.
- 3/5
Nobody told us anything or refunded us anything There is 23$ beverage voucher that was included and we had to ask the day we left because it was not given to us The pool was in renovation with a construction tarpolin so they should not charge the extra for the pool view Sale when we left, no help with luggage. I was we not impressed by the service in this hotel and will not go back
- 5/5
Every aspect of the hotel was wonderful. Excellent staff! Especially Charlie the Valet.
- 4/5
Nice hotel with a good price in the downtown area
- 5/5
It is a old building, but is well kept and clean
- 5/5
All’s well and good

The staff was wonderful, checking in and out super easy. Room 202 enamel on the bathtub needs to be fixed. Great location to our venue.

Renovation is going on. Noisy and smell.
- 5/5
Nice hotel, excellent location. Nice breakfast and dinner options. Service is nice. Parking is very secure and at comparable rate for that area.
- 4/5
No microwave or refrigerator in room. Had to ask for a second table lamp as one was missing.....
- 5/5
This was amazing, worth every penny!
- 5/5
Great hotel that I highly recommend
- 5/5
The valet was always so nice, positive, and attentive. Check in folks were great too. Nancy
- 5/5
Our one night stay was great! The staff were friendly, the valet were quick to help, and the room was clean. The hotel was decorated with Christmas trees which were beautiful. The check in process was super easy and all online. We had an overall great experience and would stay again.
- 5/5
Terrific place! Great service. Wonderful staff!
- 5/5
Great hotel centrally located and very helpful staff…
- 4/5
Room was amazing, hotel bar was great, staff was helpful but it only seemed like 1 elevator was working during peak check-in and check-out times making wait times for the elevator unbearable, other times of the day all 3 seemed to be working.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing!!
- 5/5
Convint
- 5/5
We had a wondeful stay. Outstanding staff, very clean, restaurant 1540 also great. 💯
- 5/5
Room was clean, but entry door had a sticking issue. Maintenence fixed door quickly once notified. Adjoining room had two noisy kids and a crying baby. Front desk provided a quick change and second room was great with no issues
- 5/5
The staff was exceptional. The young lady who checked us in made us feel at home. The restraunts down on first floor were amazing. For a romantic getaway I recomend the Desoto.
- 1/5
construction including drilling that went on until 1 am. unresponsive staff at hotel desk. ridiculous.

The Desoto was pretty in the lobby and immediately outside, especially with the holiday decorations. The staff Were kind. The room view was pretty, the room itself was okay, it could use a little TLC. For the price you don’t expect chipped flooring, tub and grungy bathroom floor grout. We would consider returning.

My main dissatisfaction was the rude bartender at Proof and Provisions, which is located inside the hotel. He had zero customer service skills. I over heard him being rude to another guest and it took about 10 minutes to greet us when there were two bartenders for about 10 guests. When he came over to us, he never actually greeted us, he simply pointed at us & didn’t say anything. (This is a nice hotel, not a club). I asked how long their Pinot Noir had been opened. He replied, “I don’t know, probably about two days ago”. Anyone who drinks red wine knows wine starts to turn if they do not remove the air from the bottle (which they do not at this establishment and even then, the wine is still not that great). I asked if they could open another bottle and he said, “No, they had to pour what they already had opened first.” Why would I spend $15.00 per glass of wine that tastes like vinegar??!! Would they do this with food too? My other issue was they allowed a 2 year old to sit at the bar. After a long time driving, having a nice glass of wine, in a nice establishment should not be this difficult. Needless to say, we left.

It might be helpful to know that valet is the only option. Valet and front desk weren’t at all friendly or informative. It is a beautiful old hotel but for the money I would have stayed elsewhere.
- 2/5
Overpriced & poorly kept. Will not stay again.
- 5/5
Great Stay.. Staff very professional and Friendly. Breakfast staff was amazingly nice - Great Hotel
- 5/5
Easy online checking… clean and comfortable. Txs
- 5/5
This hotel is gorgeous inside and out. A mixture of history, elegance, and comfort. The service was impeccable everywhere (front desk, dining, and bar). Location is very convenient and within walking distance to the riverside. Highly recommended!
- 4/5
Room was nice and clean. Staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was amazing.
- 5/5
Clean safe very polite and helpful incredible view
- 5/5
Staff was very courteous. Room was great - very clean and comfortable. Very walkable location.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed the DeSoto. I attended a professional conference there and found the lodging and conference rooms excellent as well as it was really terrific banquet food!
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Yes, clean room. Very nice staff.
- 4/5
Food options were very limited in the hotel.
- 5/5
Had a great time the view from the balcony was beautiful. The food was delicious. The staff was awesome. Just a great time 10 out of 10.
- 4/5
The breakfast menu had a nice selection
- 4/5
Coffee bar was great
- 4/5
Front desk was disorganized.. Or bathroom sink was stopped and slow drained even after maintenance did a half ass effort to clear it, then left the plunger in our toilet. When we checked in they have us a room already occupied. The occupant was not happy.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful visit in Savannah staying at the Desoto. The hotel is very nice and all of the staff is friendly and ready to help. The prices at the restaurant are on par if not a little cheaper than most of the nearby options. Be prepared to pay around $50 a night to have your car valet parked in the hotel basement. This hotel does not offer self parking.
- 3/5
It’s a little old there in rooms Lots of noise of pipes all night The manager made it right but still was tough sleep
- 5/5
Beautiful building and close to attractions.
- 4/5
Beautiful old hotel and kind staff. Rooms are nice but bathrooms could use some updating (old beat up tubs w/ wonky water pressure). Will visit again next time in Savannah.
- 4/5
Cons- room didnt seem very clean. There were used contact lenses on the desk and our shampoo etc. weren't filled. Thought i booked room with microwave, but front desk tells me no rooms have microwaves, only to find out two othher couples in our party had microwaves. Elevator situation wasnt food. Most od the time just one elevator worked.
- 5/5
Clean room, available last minute extra day stay, excellent staff all around
- 1/5
Medication and cash were taken and management showed no concern to resolve.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful front desk and housekeeping staff. Hotel and rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable. Even security was friendly. Definitely will stay here again.
- 3/5
room facing street was very noisy. shower got cold when someone in another room flushed the toilet. blinds were notnfull blackout and let a lot of light in the room
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Beautiful room. Perfect location.
- 5/5
Clean room. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
The beds were comfortable. The shower door was not clean. The balcony was awesome, and we would have liked to have been out there more, but there were no chairs. Also, the handle of the sliding door was broken. The water pipes also made a horrendous noise and the water in the shower would momentarily go cold.
- 5/5
Everything was clean! The staff was nice! The room view was beautiful
- 5/5
The experience was awesome from start to finish. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. We stopped in the bar and had great conversations with the bartenders and other guests. It was a birthday getaway for us and the hotels made it fun.
- 3/5
Rooms were clean, staff was friendly
- 5/5
Excelente
- 5/5
all good
- 1/5
Harassed and stalked by staff and guests. Do not recommend
- 3/5
Disappointed with the level of service. Encountered at least 3 different people at the front desk and none were very friendly. In the room, the pipes are so old that every time someone in a floor above you flushes their toilet, it sounded like a freight train running through the walls. For $300 a night? I
- 3/5
The room we had on the 13th floor was very run down. The bed frame and the laminated flooring was chipped. The temperature in the room was great. And the location was great. Overpriced for what you get. Every day there was a different awful smell in the hallway. Xavier, the valet attendant, was phenomenal. Opening doors, answering questions and giving GREAT suggestions.
- 2/5
There was a water leak next to my room and they had fans blowing 24 hours couldn't sleep with the sound and smell humidity they should have offered to move us
- 5/5
Staff was amazing! Room was great.
- 1/5
No microwave, no fridge, no steaming tv, no channel guide on tv remote, no blanket on bed or in closet, no one answers the phone at the front desk-I let it ring over 30 times. Went to front desk to get extra paper cups and coffee and was told they didn’t have any available and someone would bring it to my room. They did 1 hour latter while I was sleeping. I can’t recommend this hotel as they can’t handle the simplest ammenities.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, beautiful
- 5/5
Was clean staff very nice
- 3/5
Parking was 48 dollars extra
- 5/5
Nice room and hotel, although paid extra for view on main street and it was very noisy and we were on 5th flr. Also, wasn't happy had to enter shower next to toilet instead of door opening on right side by wall. Clearly it was installed backwards and we had to squeeze past toilet to get in and out. Good thing we are average sized people. We weren't reminded at check-in of free breakfast and spent money every morning at their coffee cafe. If you visit and want to sleep in,get a room in back otherwise nice.
- 5/5
It was all Excellent!!!!! Thank you
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay at The DeSoto! The area was extremely walkable. Great bars and restaurants close by. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. We received true Southern hospitality!
- 4/5
Hotel was clean and pretty. Paid $100 for parking for 2 cars for one night.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel.
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful Thank you
- 5/5
Nice
- 3/5
Thought the staff were lovely, great location but rooms and hotel very dated. Need to update it
- 5/5
The bar was great and our bartender was the BEST!
- 2/5
Room wasn’t particularly clean. No parking area. Only valet which was way too expensive for Savannah’s I paid the same rate in New York.
- 5/5
Best Location in Savannah, hands down!!
- 4/5
The room was clean and the decor is very nice. Staff was friendly but bartender was very distracted and somewhat inattentive. There were fingerprints down low on the inside of the bathroom door. The faucet in our bath was almost separated from the tile wall.
- 4/5
The location was great.
- 5/5
Clean fun hotel w friendly staff. Great walking area in downtown Savannah and is safe to walk.
- 4/5
Business friendly
- 1/5
Not what we expected
- 4/5
Pool and lobby are great. Coffee is really good downstairs at the little shop. I would have loved if we could have walked out on our balcony but the door was sealed shut. The gym could also use some improvement, very minimal equipment.
- 3/5
The property was nice and clean. It has good charm to the history. What we didn’t like was paying almost $50 to park valet and all the noise in downtown. It was convenient to walk to places but the room was so noisy from the street traffic that we barely slept.
- 4/5
The location of this hotel is great. Hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. There was an issue with one of the elevators most of our stay which caused some frustration otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Food at the 1540 Room restaurant was very good but I can’t say enough about the location. I would definitely stay here again.
- 1/5
Bed
- 3/5
Location was perfect, but the hotel was just okay. Very small bathroom and expensive parking.
- 3/5
Bedding was stained. Rooms were not cleaned stocked daily. Only one elevator working. Fire alarm was set off by employee with zero direction given to guests upon evacuation and return to hotel. Concerns brought to desk attendant at check out, she couldn’t have cared less. Disappointed.
- 5/5
Absolutely wonderful!!!!
- 5/5
Had a corner room: it was spacious, quiet, and clean. Hotel is in a very central location in the downtown historic district, so you can walk everywhere or take the free trolley that stops right outside. Friendly staff, excellent lounge, the entire stay was great!
- 3/5
However there were few items that cahsed to lower the grade. 1. Elevators were supper slow and yiu end uo waiting a lot if time. We prqctically had to use the stairs most if the time. 2. The water flow is the shiwer us very slow 3. The insulation in the room is poor so you near noise whenever someone else uses the water talks 4. The windows to the street have poor insulation and there is a lot of noise coming from the street. 5. We came a bit early and were charged extra 30 dollars for early check in. Never in my life i was charged fir early checking if the hotel has the rooms ready. It is just beeing greedy. 6. The staff at the hotel restuant was very mjch nkt freindly
- 5/5
Great view, very clean and centralized for seeing the area. Staff was really nice!
- 5/5
Only one working elevator was available, but on 2nd floor so stairs weren’t bad.
- 4/5
Valet parking and 1540 restaurant were great . Front desk could be more friendly. Very good location . Elevator very slow . Room was fine . Slept well .
- 2/5
Basic hotel, staff was not very friendly, mattress was terrible. Had a huge divot.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Clean room, great hotel, all elevators were broken or were under maintenance
- 2/5
The hard product here, the room itself, is actually pretty nice. The hotel was recently renovated, and it shows in the room. The lobby area is large, but could use some work. The real issues are the service. The hotel bugs you endlessly before check in to fill in an online pre-check. When I got to check in, the hotel staff completely ignored this. When I pointed this out to the hotel staff, I received a rude response. The one service request I made, for more pillows, was not made the first time. The hotel tries to nickel and dime you for any late or early check-in check out. The gym could seriously use some work. There was only one working treadmill, one of the exercise balls was broken, and the space is very small.
- 5/5
Great location pretty hotel
- 1/5
The room was clean but the bed was horrible. Didn't sleep much the got up to sit in an uncomfortable chair to keep my shoulders from hurting. The bathroom was not good. I could not open or shut the door or sitting on the toilet. The tub had chips out of it. The towel rack fell when I reached for the towel. The hot water pulsed on and off during the shower. The elevators only 1 worked. A horrible room at any price.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel, at a reasonable price!
- 5/5
We had a great view after our room was upgraded. Bed was very comfortable. Great location and walkable in historic district.
- 4/5
The property was clean and well tended. My room was street side but didn’t hear traffic at night. The staff was great as well.
- 5/5
An amazing experience! Great staff, clean, comfortable rooms, excellent views, in walking distance of just about everything. DeSoto rocks! Nice bar, restaurant, coffee bar, etc. we will be back to try the spa next time. Side note: The pool deck could be a little larger and/or no children after 8pm. If you want to relax in the water without the noise and getting splashed by children this is not the resort pool for you! 7am-10pm the pool is full of munchkins in the summertime! I love that this hotel caters to families and couples alike, I also love kids with 3 of my own, but the hotel would do well to have a separate pool/splash pad. Rumor has it they once had a rooftop pool, not sure if this is true, but having two distinct areas would be great. The woman trying to meditate with Tai Chi probably would have appreciated a separate space as well. Still, a Savannah favorite.
- 5/5
I loved the friendly, helpful staff. The rooms and hotel was beautifully maintained with attentive service.
- 5/5
Great location for a wonderful getaway vacation
- 5/5
Loved it!
- 5/5
The suite had an absolutely incredible view. My only complaint was that the balcony was locked down. I would've definitely loved to enjoy my morning coffee out there but I'm sure there's a reason they are locked. Close to fantastic restaurants and walkable to the local parks and riverfront shops. I'll definitely be staying here again the next time I visit Savannah!
- 5/5
Great Location
- 4/5
The hotel and the staff were amazing. The only real downside is that they don’t disclose to you that valet parking cost $50 a day!
- 5/5
The hotel was beautiful. Friendly staff and the valet staff was awesome....especially Z!!
- 5/5
De Soto is our go to stay downtown. Elegant, convenient to everything, clean, nice rooms, accommodating, and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and friendly staff within walking distance of sites, restaurants, convenience store and shopping. Would recommend.
- 4/5
Great location. Pleasant pool. But elevator was down when we arrived so we took a 4th floor room and street noise was annoying in the morning.
- 4/5
We assumed our room would be cleaned. Met staff in hallway who spoke little English but communicated our need for towels and coffee for the next morning. This was mid-afternoon. Came back after dinner and found our beds made. Odd to only have one wastebasket in bathroom. None in living area. Missed having a fridge; used a lot of ice to keep leftovers cool. Beds were comfortable; room clean. I’ve stayed here before and wanted my friend to experience the hotel and area.
- 3/5
Had to use the service elevator 😔
- 5/5
Good location and very comfy beds
- 3/5
The hotel is a little old and it needs some updating. The service and food was great!
- 3/5
I was impressed by how pretty the main floor was. Check-in was smooth. Good bed. The room was shabby. Chipped/peeling paint in the room, the laminate floors were cracked and peeling up. There was a splatter stain on the floor next to my bed. The bottoms of the doors looked like animals had been chewing on them. Just a lot of details that could be easily fixed, but have not been taken care of, which gave an overall worn out and low end look to the room. In the bathroom, the only trashcan in the room was tiny and covered in rust. The fan over the shower was disgusting, full of dirt and the tub did not drain so when showering there was water to my ankles. The outside of the tub was discolored. The hairdryer was so old, super scratched up, and I knew immediately it was going to break while I was using it. I have long hair and although I took breaks the outlet stopped working, and the reset button would not work. This is likely due to the fact that the dryer was filthy, full of lint which led to overheating. I don’t understand why the hotel would not keep up with minor maintenance that would make a big difference. I did not feel safe in dimly lit hallways as I was solo. The elevators are slow and stopped working one day so guests had to use the service elevator waiting next to a shelf of leftover food. Not what I expected.

- 5/5
Have that hotel clean nice quiet will stay there again
- 3/5
The fee for parking was very expensive. The day of checkout the elevators stopped working. We had to walk down 10 flights of stairs with our luggage for checkout. There also was no fridge in the room.
- 3/5
The hotel was average
- 4/5
Only issue is the single guest elevator. But, that wasn’t too much of a problem - just requires some patience.
- 5/5
The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. The lobby in particular the rooms are outdated, but comfortable, and the rooftop pool and view is simply breathtaking. I would definitely stay at this location again. In Jesus Christ Name-Romans 8.28
- 5/5
This is a great hotel staff was awesome
- 4/5
Outstanding location! Only problem was that the elevators were not working and we had to take the service elevator. Hopefully they will correct that for a future guests.
- 5/5
Great location, beautiful city. Very walkable and safe, most comfortable beds ever. Beautiful view of the river from our room on the 8th floor! Friendly check-in, got great advice from the front desk about free parking on the street. Just make sure you understand the rules. Wonderful pool area on the second floor level, with in-water foam chairs for sunning and a bar at poolside. Late night high-quality bar attached with a sophisticated bartender to meet your needs.
- 5/5
Loved everything. Would have liked access to coffee in the room
- 3/5
The staff was AMAZING and super friendly. I booked for my birthday. The first room was a standard King abs there was hair all in the bed, reported to front desk and they immediately compromise and upgraded. The next room was bigger .. there was still 2 pieces of hair but I was so tired from the ride and everything we just let it go. Out of 3 elevators, only 1 worked so there was always a wait and a lot of people on the elevator ALWAYS. Other than that, the location was perfect, parking isn’t horrible, and the staff was magnificent
- 5/5
Great stay!! People we accommodating and stay was great!
- 5/5
Amazing hotel, great area, fantastic staff. Located in a great part of Downtown Savannah.
- 3/5
The hotel halls dirty.
- 5/5
The staff at this hotel is terrific. The location is great. Our room was clean, although it showed a little wear. The price of overnight valet seemed a little high. Overall, great stay and we’ll be back.
- 5/5
The staff at the hotel was super nice. I appreciated the great views and the ambiance of the hotel.
- 4/5
AC went out in night - needed to call maintaince - they foxed it in about ½ hour after calling. Bar drinks were fantastic - food was just so-so. Location is just south of main historical district, but still close enough to walk nearly everywhere.
- 3/5
Some of the staff was not friendly and unhelpful
- 4/5
Other than only one elevator worked, and how slow they were easier to just take the stairs., everything else is wonderful
- 3/5
Clean hotel. Good sevice except valet. Long waits to drop off and retrieve car. Staff was very friendly. Food was good. The pool area was disappointing. Very small pool, not enough towels and not enough chairs.
- 5/5
Pool and pool bar. Bartender was excellent.
- 2/5
The rooms were small, especially the bathroom. I expected more for the price. My brother and I each got a room for two and his room rate was less than mine even though we booked at the same time. I will not stay at a desoto again. Desk staff was not very friendly except for the valets who were great.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was nice with a great view. I had one concern about an unruly person in the next room that I spoke to a staff member about, but that person wasn’t the hotel’s fault. Overall, I give the DeSoto five stars.
- 3/5
Hotel needs renovation. Extremely slow elevators as well. Location though was very good. 15 minutes to River street and many restaurants within walking distance.
- 3/5
The location of the hotel is excellent and makes it worth the stay. The lobby and guest areas are lovely, but the room was very average. It was clean and the bed was comfy, but no extras—pretty generic.
- 5/5
This is a lovely hotel. It’s far enough away that you can easily drive in and out of the city and not wait in traffic, but, you are still easily walkable to all the things.
- 4/5
A/c sounded like a propeller airplane taking off… woke me a couple of times at night… hotel showing its age
- 4/5
People were great. Plumbing wasn’t great. Hot water would come and go in the shower. Elevators were slow and kept breaking down. Great location.
- 1/5
We came late and the hotel like nobody, we carried our 4 luggage move to the room one by one, no cars , no help. During 4days stay, the elevator terrible, only one working and you have to wait forever
- 4/5
The hotel was very pretty and clean. We had a great time at the pool and breakfast at the restaurant. However, only one of the elevators was working which proved to be really tricky as we have little kids and there was a long wait for a full elevator. There was no fridge in the room which was also hard as we had to find a way to keep our baby’s milk cold. The valet was $50 a night so that was a lot but we were grateful for the kind staff.
- 5/5
Great
- 2/5
location and lobby was nice. rooms were not great
- 5/5
We love this property! We come to Savannah specifically to stay here. The hotel itself is gorgeous. Also, it's easy to find street parking. Also, everything is walkable from there.
- 2/5
It is dated rooms are not clean and the beds are not comfortable, they squeek every time you move, I feel they have to pay more attention to details, feels like the lobby was eemodeled bit the roma stayed the same
- 4/5
The location.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel and staff . Great location
- 5/5
Good
- 3/5
Our room was fine. The bed was very comfortable. Sadly the slider was bolted shut leaving no access to the balcony or ability to get fresh air. The entire hotel was very dark, the hallway almost comically so. The pool was very dirty and the 10 lounge chairs for the entire pool left many people sitting on the concrete. We stayed 3 nights, housekeeping came on day 2 but didn’t return on day 3, which would have been fine had the front desk told me this was the expectation, they did not. The location is fantastic. We parked our car (valet service is a steep $48/day) and never needed it. Every place we wanted to go was an easy and quick walk. While I didn’t love the hotel, for the location, I’d stay here again
- 5/5
Great location in downtown Savannah. Shops easily walkable.
- 5/5
Excellent.
- 4/5
Friendly atmosphere really enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
This place was top notch!
- 4/5
Not the cleanest hotel, it felt dirty. Having a small fridge in the room, at that rate would also have been nice.
- 2/5
The staff at check in was not really friendly which surprised me .. I had to go downstairs to let them know light bulb needs to be replaced and the lamp wasn’t plugged in- I left for an hour or so came back and still can’t use the lamp on night stand
- 5/5
This hotel was beautiful & quiet. I'll be back!
- 3/5
The property was really nice, very quiet clean. I really enjoyed the layout. My main issue, and it was a pretty big issue because I drove to Savannah from a different state, was that I had to wait about two hours maybe a little more to check into my room after arriving at my check-in time
- 5/5
Amazing experience!
- 5/5
it was a quick stay, but i would visit again to explore around
- 5/5
Such a wonderful stay at The DeSoto! Brought our daughter down for a college visit at SCAD and it was the perfect location! Walking distance to everything, so many cute shops, bookstores and places to eat close by! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and the room was spacious and very clean. We will be back down and won't stay anywhere else!
- 4/5
No ice buckets in room
- 5/5
- 3/5
Pro valet bring your car right up. Cons, the receptionist did not apply my payment for valet parking. I paid $96 in cash. The African American women with braids did not apply payment to room. When I checked out I had to go back in fourth with receptionist that I paid for parking cash. It was only one elevator working the entire weekend. Had to wait in a line just to go up to room and to even go to lobby. Stayed the weekend and didn’t get any towels or room clean while I was out.
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
The lobby was beautiful and the location of the property for the historic District was on point. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious. The spa gave great massage and facials and they had lots of options. The concierge was helpful and offered great ideas for things to do. The pool bartender was very friendly, although the pool bar closed at 6 PM, which was disappointing. The mandatory valet service was not expected, it was $48 a day, although the valets were very personable and helpful when you needed your vehicle it was an unexpected expense. The pool was not kept properly and was green for three days. Housekeeping did not do a good job with the rooms and we had to constantly call the front desk to ask for restocking or cleaning and our air conditioning broke on our last night and had to be replaced.
- 3/5
I have stayed at this property many times over the years and this is by far the worst experience I’ve had. The sinks in the room didn’t drain, the shower had no hot water the first night, there’s no working ice machine on the floor, the pool was green with algae and the first day there were no pool towels. We had to take time out of our day there to have a repair man come fix the sinks. This used to be my favorite place to stay in Savanah.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly especially the valets. The room was clean and was within walking distance to everywhere!
- 4/5
There was no place to plug in my iPhone charger next to my bed. Also I arrived at 7 pm and restaurant was closed and coffee shop was closed to I couldn’t grab a snack or coffee in hotel.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly, professional and very welcoming. The check in/out was quick and easy. The bartenders at the Proof Bar made awesome drinks with a bit of entertainment on the side😜 We had a delicious breakfast with great Southern Hospitality! The location was perfect and within walking distance to every thing we wanted to see and do.
- 5/5
Great experience!

Great
