Love this place, the cheese and wine hour was amazing, love the location. Found the room needs a bit of an upgrade and I hated the parking situation. But overall I would recommend this place and I will stay here again

The staff was amazing and went out of their way to take care . of us even though we came late to the wine tasting. The attention to detail was amazing in maintaining the beautiful southern architecture including garden fountains and Louisiana style wrought iron

Charming property. Was in one of the best neighborhoods and a short walk to Forsyth Park and Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room. Short Uber ride or 20-min walk to Broughton and River Sts, through some lovely squares. The staff was very helpful, especially Jennifer who was welcoming and made several good recommendations. It is an inn, so you don't get the amenities of a full resort (one shouldn't expect to), but you do get everything they promise (cocktail hour wine and dessert later). The continental breakfast is pretty basic and on a small scale, but the chef's breakfast (included) is prepared fresh that morning. AC worked, TV worked, beds were comfortable and they provided robes. And they came in to clean and provide fresh towels without being asked.

Location is perfect---right on "the prettiest street in America" in the center of the Historic District. The staff is very helpful and accommodating; they contacted a tour we had booked and arranged for a pick up. Delicious cooked breakfast every day, wine and appetizers every afternoon, and desserts in the evening.

The property is conveniently located in an ideal location centrally to many walkable attractions. It is on one of the most beautiful streets in the historic area. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The courtyard was a relaxing retreat throughout the day. The hotel was offering breakfast that was creative and delicious. They also offered an evening wine and cheese social which provided an opportunity to meet with others staying at the property. I would definitely recommend staying at the Eliza Thompson house for your stay in Savannah.

Clean room, excellent host, beautiful courtyard, and location, close to everything, including the parks and restaurants Parking. Difficult as you had to park on the street and move your car because they periodically sweep the streets. This isn’t so much an issue of the residence we stayed at but Savannah in general.

The location was excellent and the staff on the front desk were very helpful. The wine and nibbles are a nice touch and we loved sitting in the courtyard enjoying them The property could do with a facelift. The carpet in the hallway had seen better days and the kitchen area was very grubby. Many in here have said the breakfast was poor and I have to agree. Very little choice (you just get what you’re given). The frittata on our second day was watery and tasteless. For the price of this hotel I’d at least expect a decent breakfast. Our room was also very small so avoid the Carter room. Bathroom could do with being modernised too Overall whilst the location is great I think it’s very poor value for money.

Exactly as described with a few pleasant surprises like wine and cheese cocktail hour and a delicious breakfast of sweet waffles with praline syrup, and savory sausage and potatoes out in the courtyard. Loved the Oglethorpe room plus Charles was very knowledgeable about the homes history - way better than google! Street parking (payment required 8am-5pm) was a bit tricky but staff was very helpful in guiding us! Savannah is definitely walkable from this home. Highly recommend!
- 4/5
Room was a little small. That may not be like all the others. Staff was friendly and the breakfasts were good. The complimentary cheese / charcuterie snacks w wine and desserts w port were well tasty and well-attended, allowing residents to get together and talk about lives, experiences, restaurants and tour activities.

The location was excellent. The wine and cheese in the afternoon, and breakfast in the morning were quite good. The room, as well as the whole house seemed to need some updating.

Location was great Breakfast was not great, the place it was served would be great for a spring to fall time, but it was very inconvenient for the winter: like sitting outside at cold

The property is in need of a renovation and cleaning. Carpets are past their prime and a/ c is inadequate and noisy. Bed is hard. Like that. It’s pricey so it should be in better shape.

We have stayed in the Inn prior to this stay and absolutely loved it. It seemed different this time. While the charm was still there, some of the small things that changed lessened the appeal. The small things like the individualized breakfast was nice, bring it back! Those small things made you guys different!
- 3/5
We have stayed in the past and was excited to return. During this stay things seemed “different.” The Coziness is still there on the most beautiful road but small things changed with the Inn. One that stood out was the personalized breakfast. Prior they gave you good options to personalize your breakfast. Now it’s just your standard hotel buffet breakfast. The tiny things like that can make a stay! Bring back the original charm!

Ideal location and not noisy Breakfast was mediocre and on some days not timely. Eggs and bacon should always be available, with two to three additional options. Coffee/tea were not available at the breakfast area each day; that's when we had to walk upstairs to serve from the main house's kettles. What was served had good flavor.

This was a charming, boutique stay packed with history and personality. Beds were super comfortable and the staff was so friendly. Highly recommend!
- 4/5
Great location on a beautiful street! Main house and courtyard were beautiful as well. Nice amenities. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Ground floor garden room was dark, felt and smelled damp, with dark green wall to wall carpet. The lighting was cold and institutional and there were no windows (except the door which was blocked by a shade and needed for privacy, since room is lowest level and right next to the breakfast room. If room had better (and warmer) lighting in the lamps, it would have helped immensely. Overall, the room was a bit dank and dark (or overly cold and bright with lights on). Breakfast was also a little disappointing (nothing like the photos) and served about 20 minutes late.
- 3/5
An historical hotel that would benefit from a renovation. Our room was on the ground floor, smelled of mildew, with need of new carpeting and bedding. The room door would only stay closed when locked and had significant gaps around the edges.

Great place, great location, friendly staff. Syrup h a pleasant stay

Cockroach in floor in room. Room was spotlessly cleaned, except for this. They changed back to a buffet breakfast; we preferred to order
- 5/5
The common areas, both in the parlor and out in the courtyard, are a nice way to relax outside of the room. Nothing, we loved it!
- 5/5
Staff were friendly. Rooms were nicely detailed and clean. Lots of time to chat with other guests in great room. Right in the middle of downtown historic area. Wine and cheese (5-6:30pm) and port and desert (8-10pm) really was a nice touch and allowed for guests to get together and share experiences.

Fair warning, we learned the place was bought out recently and the things we were excited about like the quality breakfast are now just average. The beds are very had so be sure to request a mattress topper. No staff are on site over night. Other than that, the house itself and the location are beautiful. Just know previous reviews likely had a better experience.

Jennifer at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful! Great location, walking distance to everything! We had a bottle of champagne waiting in our room upon arrival for our 20th anniversary. The property could use a little cleaning (mainly the guest kitchen and fridge area, as well as the carpets), but understand this is a very old building. If you don't get to the food (appetizers and dessert) right when it comes out, it goes quick and doesn't get replenished.

Loved the Inn. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. Yummy night time cookies. Would highly recommend IF, they replace the bed. We were in room 119 and the bed was hideous! The room lovely, but the worst night last sleep ever!

Room was very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Complementary breakfast was fresh with comfortable setting. Staff was very attentive and friendly. We took advantage of afternoon wine and cheese which encouraged us to exchange experiences with other visitors. Very nice touch for afternoon after day of touring the city. The location of house was perfectly set in historic district. Perfect for walking around touring. Only negative I could foresee would be parking. This is a negative issue for the city and not a negative issue about inn. Since we were visiting in slower time of year, we had no issues finding parking near inn but I could see that it might be issue in high season.

Absolutely loved it! Wish we stayed more than one night. Staff was amazing. We were an hour or so down the road and we got a call from the front desk. The cleaning staff found my wife had forgotten her diamond pendant and chain behind. They are shipping it to us. Definitely above and beyond. The common areas were great. We met some other guests that were quite friendly and entertaining. Will definitely come back and stay a long weekend next time we are in town.

The house was beautiful. We liked our room and the bed was very comfortable. We had a lovely view of the oak trees on Jones St. out of the window in our room. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast, and the afternoon wine & hors d’oeuvres, and evening dessert in the beautiful parlor. The location of the house on the “prettiest street in Savannah” was perfect for taking walks. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this historic home and hope to stay here again. It would be nice to have more protein options for vegetarians on the breakfast menu.

The room was nice. The heating unit was very loud. The staff was very helpful and professional. We enjoyed the afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres. A couple of things that surprised me that should have been mentioned on Expedia are (1) that parking is on the street. Not easy to find. It is metered parking. You can purchase a parking voucher at the B&B. (2) Breakfast is outdoors by the patio. There are a few heaters but you still have to wear a jacket or coat to eat breakfast. The food gets cold fast. This is not ideal when it's cold outside. We did not enjoy breakfast for this reason.

Everything smelled so clean. The front desk was very helpful with all of our questions. They gave us suggestions for dinner and tours. Breakfast was very good and it was enough food to hold us over until a late lunch. We did not participate but they had wine happy hour and desserts early evening. It was a quick trip but a delightful one.

This was our first time in a bed and breakfast. The staff was delightful. Property was clean. Location is perfect for shopping and walking in the historic district. I’m giving it 5 stars for what it is-but it’s not a five star hotel. It’s an old house! The food was better than what I would cook but if you love breakfast I hear there are some gourmet breakfast places in Savannah. I would stay here again and recommend to a friend for an affordable bed and breakfast.

We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Savannah with them, would definitely recommend. Plus it is said to be haunted! We are avid paranormal investigators, and although we didn’t do any investigating in the hotel, on one occasion in the parlor, I asked my husband about “Jone’sing” for something he wanted, and then I clearly heard a woman loudly whisper, “I am Jones” behind me! It was wierd, I don’t know who it might have been, but the Inn is located on Jones Street!!

Never tasted the potatoes that good. Everyday the items were different and everyday it was awesome. Had the best experience. Would definitely visit again and recommend it.

This is a great B&B on the beautiful Jones Street! It’s walkable to everything you’d like to visit in Historic downtown Savannah. The staff is wonderful with providing suggestions and sharing stories of their city. The daily breakfast, happy hour and late evening dessert were extra special touches!

The staff there are excellent and extremely helpful. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and filling. Some nice added touches were the evening happy hour with wine and appetizers, and the later evening dessert and port. We underestimated how many nights we should have stayed and left wanting more. We will definitely be back!

This is an amazing place to stay! There amenities and customer service are the best we've encountered in a very long time! Even though looking at the tall steps to get up to the front door look daunting, Kendall was able to bring our luggage up into our room without flinching! Charles was delightful in telling about Savannah and the surrounding places that we could walk to. The wine and dessert our was delightful! The room is clean and we would definitely stay here again! I highly recommend it! It's close to everything and the people there are amazing!

Historic Inn….perhaps a bit more trafficked than some of the others. I think if you get one of the more expensive rooms they are more spacious, in better shape and more private. It is a lovely old place but not designed to accommodate air conditioning and modern baths, so the updates—while fully acceptable—are kind of wonky. Unbeatable location. Helpful staff. Could be cleaner (Christmas decor still up on Feb 28, breakfast area floor in serious need of a cleaning).

I had an incredible stay at Eliza Thompson House! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The house is beautifully maintained, offering both charm and comfort. The daily breakfast, wine reception with hors d’oeuvres, and dessert were all exceptional. The location is perfect—conveniently close to everything, yet peaceful and serene. The staff went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable, with an impressive attention to detail. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning! Five stars all the way!

Everything was great! Especially the staff! Everyone was so friendly and helpful! We loved the rooms, the delicious breakfast, the cocktail hour (with various wine offerings and hors d’oeuvres) and an after dinner dessert hour! There is also coffee, tea, waters and sodas available all day long. We arrived the day after the snow storm, so we were not able to sit outside on the courtyard patio with fountain etc., but we could see how beautiful it would be! We will definitely return in nicer weather! So happy to have found this wonderful place!

I liked the wet bar in the parlor with coffee, tea, water and soda. All complimentary. I wish you had the option to select breakfast or not because for the $40 charge I think we would have opted not to take it. I know it included the wine and apps and dessert hour, but the breakfast was underwhelming with overcooked eggs, burnt cold bacon and burnt toast. We felt we had to get back for the wine and apps because we paid for it but would have stayed out and never made dessert because we were at dinner. Again, this is just our opinion and do think it’s a nice touch but having the option would be nice. Also, we were told it was adults only upon arrival, however i walked into an 8 year old heading to the wine time and a teenage boy at breakfast, so if you truly want no kids, I would inquire before booking. Overall, the location and staff were the best part and we appreciate all their knowledge and friendly personalities.

We loved our stay here! The room was clean and comfortable - breakfast was great daily and all the employees were wonderful to talk to! They have small gatherings in the evenings where we were able to chat with other guests and the employees. The area is older and beautiful! Parking is on street and can be limited, but as we planned this trip to walk everywhere this was no issue for us. We would definitely stay here again!

Great staff!!!
- 5/5
This is a beautiful historic hotel. The staff were wonderful, especially Kesha and Cheryl. The garden area was love, the bed comfortable, and the breakfasts were great. It is an old building so it is not super quiet and the AC is very loud but the positives far outweigh any negatives. I would highly recommend. If you go to Savannah, it is walkable and you really do not need a car. Parking is difficult.
- 5/5
An excellent choice for walking around old Savannah! Close to everything!
- 3/5
We love the location and the staff. Unfortunately the room we stayed in was dank, dark, and needed a lot of updating. Obviously nothing to take away from the historical experience. But the bed was awful. Lumpy and used. No view but the windows face a dark brick wall. So you open this gorgeous windows to solid wall no sunlight at all! Sad room. I’m not going back. Room 133. Skip it.
- 5/5
The Eliza Thompson house was absolutely perfect! It was in a great location where you can walk to the river and all the historic sites. It was the highlight of our trip as we relaxed every morning for a delicious breakfast in the beautiful and lush courtyard. Our room had a view of the courtyard and we couldn’t get enough of it. It made our stay in beautiful Savannah even that much better. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay there again!!

Beautiful hotel, very clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included and was delicious. They also had wine and appetizer in the evening and coffee, tea, port wine and dessert at night. The rooms were updated and comfortable. There was a beautiful courtyard to relax in. I would highly recommend this hotel. We will be back.

Great location...easy walking to everything. Super staff willing to help with anything. This is a historic residence that is kept up to date and clean. Breakfast, afternoon snack and dessert was very good. Parking on street was not difficult. Will definitely return A

Extremely nice people, breakfast was great.
- 5/5
Chic yet small and personalized service all the way during our entire stay. Employees seemed happy to be working there, always with a smile and willing to assist. 😃 Did you know that this location not only offers an amazing customized daily breakfast but also Hors d'oeuvres in the Lobby from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, and bite size desserts from 8:00 to 9:00 pm? Refreshments and coffee are also available 24/4 in the Lobby area. 👍 This lovely surprise made our visit even better. The location is charming, with great, antique decoration and great amenities. Walking distance and super close to nice restaurants, Squares and chic boutiques and stores. We are already planning to come back. ❤️

My sister and I did a quick trip to Savannah for one night. We absolutely loved our stay at the Eliza Thompson House! The entire staff were so pleasant and helpful. However…. We had the “chef” inspired breakfast…. Inedible! I had the shrimp and grits…. One bite was enough… not good. My daughter had the pecan waffles… she was grossed out. We left breakfast quite hungry…. Found a nice place for breakfast. The workers are very pleasant and friendly. Our room was cleaned daily…. The room: again musty old smell…. Tiny shower…high queen bed… they provide a little step stool to get into the bed. Bath products were nice….bottled water replaced daily… the property is well kept and the neighborhood is absolutely beautiful. Steps away from Forsyth Park…. Bull street will take you right to the Riverside. Expensive…not really worth the price:… but can strike this establishment off my “bucket list”. Air conditioner sounded like a jet engine taking off every 2-2 minutes… maybe it needed serve?? We woke up every 15-20 minutes due to the loud A/C unit.
- 5/5
This was the most amazing place, with the kindest and supportive staff. The room and space was clean and set with the most wonderful atmosphere. I would recommend this to anyone and would go back in heart beat!

Staff was absolutely fabulous!

The Eliza Thompson is a gem of a historic house, beautifully decorated with an old, charming and elegant character. Well located on E.Jones street, close to Forsyth Park and walkable in the touristic district. The staff showed that they really cared about the customers. Jennifer called us ahead of time to explain about the parking and helped us find a good spot to park. The breakfast was offered in the lovely garden courtyard and was fresh and delicious. The chef was very accommodating to prepare us a take out breakfast on the day we left early to bring with us to the airport. The 5-7 cheese and wine and the nightly dessert and port in the parlor were in a cozy setting. We felt pampered and really loved our stay there. We will love to stay at the Elizabeth Thompson House again next time we are in Savannah. A big thank you to all the staff.

Wonderful older home in central Savannah. It had some quirks. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, not great, but wine and hors d'oeuvre in evening were quite good and a fun experience.

My husband and I were in Savannah to celebrate our anniversary and found the Eliza Thompson House to be just perfect! The staff were friendly, happy to answer our questions and full of suggestions. The location was so convenient to dining and sightseeing. Our room was just gorgeous - comfortable bed, tons of space with a desk and a sitting area. The bathroom was well stocked and spacious. The courtyard is simply beautiful, with quiet nooks to sit and read among the greenery. The food was great, and such a treat to end the day with a yummy dessert and 24/7 coffee/tea/soda. Went above and beyond our expectations.
- 5/5
The location was perfect for walking. We were able to park our car when we arrived and never had to move it until we left.

The staff was awesome. The food was great. Location was perfect. You can walk easily through out the historic district.

Wonderful place to stay! I would rate every category 'excellent'.

Staff very accommodating, the Parlor with its wine and appetizers, followed by dessert and port each day encouraged comradery. Great location on a beautiful street which is where the expression “keeping up with the Jones’s” came from!! Loved Savannah and this place!

Staff was superb and very helpful. The little extras in the afternoon and evening were delightful and breakfast was delicious. A very nice stay indeed and we will plan to stay here again.❤️
