Hotel Sausalito

The Wi-Fi was spotty at Best. There was almost always no one at the front desk so you had to make a phone call for any assistance. The sink in our room had a constant leak. There was also no safe in the room. The only great thing about this hotel was its location, which was amazing.

Very nice boutique hotel with a stellar location, and very convenient parking ($30 extra, which is VERY reasonable for that area). Good value for money as well. Aircon worked great as did shower/water pressure. Good selection of TV channels, and fast internet (no extra charge)

Front desk staff were fantastic - very welcoming and helpful. Clean throughout. Parking was relatively easy, despite a big event happening the evening we arrived. Perfect location to explore Sausalito and access to Muir Woods.

Free bottled water. No one on property overnight. Very nice view of park and bay. All 16 rooms in second floor. Good elevator service. Convenient to restaurants, shops, ferry, park, etc.

Feels a bit worn in the room, and enhances its tradition I got lucky claiming the 1 room with a circular alcove out over the sidewalks below, so great views of everything happening at this port side location.

Rooms are lovely. The beds are super comfortable. This hotel was great for me, as I was traveling for work and wanted a comfy room to crash in and nothing else. There wasn't a general lobby or lounging area. There are no amenities, only rooms on the second floor. If you want amenities this is not a place for you.

It’s an excellent condition right in the middle of downtown Sausalito close to restaurants and bars. It’s a quaint little place. That’s very reasonably priced

We had a quick overnight stay and this was a perfect spot for that. Cute and kitchy, good location and affordable. Walkable to restarants and shopping.

The location is great! Right in the center of downtown Sausalito with many fine restaurants, coffee shops, bars, shops and the ferry within walking distance. A lovely fountain in the nearby square provided a soft sound in our room when the window was open. The hotel staff were very helpful, recommending places to eat and answering any questions we had. Parking was across the street in a city lot that always had room for our car. Plenty of water, coffee and tea available in the room. Plenty of hangers in the closet. A refrigerator. Nice selection of toiletries. Bed was very comfortable. Nicely renovated older building with charm. Overall a very nice room and a nice experience. Since we were in the heart of town, we could hear people noise from the street until around midnight on a few of the nights That was hard because we had to get up early every day for our event. Also there were occasional pipe or other building settling noises, but that can come with an older hotel. Shower is large with good water pressure, but it was kind of awkward having to walk inside to turn the water on and risk getting a spray that was too cool or too hot.

This quaint little boutique hotel is nestled close to the water, right downtown. Its location rocks. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful and the room was nice except for its cramped quarters. The bathroom was prettier than the bedroom and nearly as big. Really the only downside was the size of the room.

Super location. Great access to morning running along the water with amazing views of San Fransisco, Alcatraz and Angel Island. Hotel is an old classic and clean. Staff was helpful and parking was very convenient.

We loved the location and the intimate size of the hotel. The room was comfortable and we appreciated the art work along the hallway. The corner room was spacious, clean, and had a comfortable bed. When we used the plumbing there was a loud screeching sound coming from the bedroom ceiling that sounded like someone pulling a large piece of furniture across the floor (though we were on the top floor). Seems like the sound is related to the water supply pipes. We were staying in the corner room with the round bay window facing the street. This was quite disturbing to us during our stay.

We were greated by Robin at the front desk when we arrived. She was extremely knowledgeable of the area and made MANY recomdations that made our three day stay the best. She should be given a raise, she helps all guests the same that we observed, great representative for the property. The room was great, we will be returning in about two months. Ken & Nova Brewer Nothing comes to mind but I wanted to share something with management. I noticed that the access system/card used to gain entry at the main entrance is by SecurKey. I have been is the security business in SF for 55 years and was recently informed by our national supplier the SecurKey has gone out of business, phone calls and correspondence to their offices are not answered. If the company that supplied managment with the SecurKey access cards still has some available you better purchase them before the access door system will have to be replaced by another manufacturer. FYI Ken

Very very small room. Bed was small. I reserved a king but we got a full size. Other than that it was wonderful clean and location was perfect. Easy check in and out. I would come back.

I barely got any sleep and had to stand outside in the cold for a full hour before being able to enter my room again. It smelled like smoke everywhere afterwards due to the cause of the alarm: someone smoking a cigarette.

Great location, but there heavy construction noise taking place adjacent to our room. Bathroom fan did not work well. Staff was gracious and the location and walkability were very nice.

There was an issue with the fire alarm system. First the alarm went off in our room the first morning at 5:00am. You could not reach it and it blasted for 40 minutes. There is a number to call but NOONE is there on site. Someone had to drive in and see to it. That took 40 min. We were told it was a battery which was BS as batteries make annoying "chirp". This was a full scale alarm. Plus an alarm company was there when we got back from breakfast and all the alarms were replaced. The next night an alarm went off in an adjourning room at 2:30am. Same drill. 45 minutes for someone to come out and fix it. So obviously an issue. Had I know no one was on staff at the hotel I would have never booked in there. We have all stayed at places when people are loud, parties etc.....and the fact that no one was there on property to deal with it is a HUGE short coming. At $400 per night my expectation was different. I also tried to reach the manager several times with no return contact. Buy us dinner, comp one of the nites......do something. So that means I am left to become the person I don't want to be. Leaving a bad review. I will return to Sausalito....but not here. Shame because all the staff we met in person were great.

Located right beside the ferry terminal and the shops this hotel is in the perfect location for walking around. A bit noisy from all the activity round about and in need of a little TLC it still suited us perfectly

Read the fine print. This property only has limited front desk service. We had our wedding and landed up around 11 pm. The front door was locked. Called a phone number and a grumpy guy berated us for not “making an appt for checkin”. Apparently 8 pm is the cutoff . We booked through hotels.com and went back and checked - no mention of a 8 pm cutoff. If we would have known would have avoided this hotel. Terrible communication and attitude. We are local to SF so told the guy we are willing to go back home rather than deal with the poor attitude

The room was comfortable and was directly across from the ferry station. Based on our activities, we ended up heading out to tiburon to use that ferry station since the one on Sausalito does not travel to angel island. The bed was comfortable, housekeeping cleaned the room each day while we were out and about. However, the sink in our room (209) was backing up a bit but still drained in a reasonable amount of time. Our room is the only room with a bathtub if that’s important to you. We heard some construction noises since a wine bar is going up next door but renovation and painting continues. Any time we had questions about the area or recommendations, Robin was persistent in providing them or researching for us. It was a very pleasant stay. We also were able to catch a jazz festival the evening we came in. Overall, a great stay and definitely a place we’ll come back to in the future if we’re in the area.

It's a cute hotel. The room is nice and clean. I booked a room with twin bed. My room number was 204 or 214. I don't really remember but It was noisy! Some machine inside of the hotel was making noise every few minutes. I can't sleep at night!

We stayed in room 201, it was brand new and very quaint. Robin at the front desk was very nice and helpful. It was a great location but because it faced the street it was a little noisy, but that’s what earplugs are for.

Room 205 was excellent! Spacious with King bed and views. Front office staff was very helpful. The location is perfect.

The front desk/concierge was a complete delight, her name was Robin. We loved our stay at Hotel Sausalito, but Robin made it extra special. She immediately made us feel welcome and it was obvious that she loves helping people and making their stay as pleasant as possible

Robin, the person that check is in is so nice and accommodating. She went above and beyond especially when she found out we were celebrating. Told her after I found out we are at 214. She made us feel at home and welcomed!

I was given great information from Darcy when arriving. The bed was comfortable, bathroom small but, adequate. I had trouble getting the heat to work and was brought a heater which worked fine. I thought the price was fair for this cute hotel.

We stayed there in early December and were meeting friends from out of town. A storm had rolled through the morning that we arrived and knocked the power out in half of Sausalito, including the hotel we were staying at. With no power, it made checking in difficult and the lady at the front desk seemed very annoyed with what was likely the inconvenience, but came off as if it was that she was annoyed with us. This made it a little uncomfortable in an already uncomfortable situation. We were told the power would be on by 4p so we didn’t think anything of it. When we returned to the hotel at 10p, there was still no power. It was freezing and the water temperature was freezing. We woke up early at 7a and drove home because the room was so cold. $320 for one night of freezing cold was way too much!

Concierge checked to find coffee shops open Christmas morning.

We just needed a quick place to stay for a funeral we were attending. This hotel is so quaint and cute and clean. We saw the sunrise over the ocean from our window. It's right there where all the restaurants and shops are. GREAT find!

Hotel Sausalito was a wonderful experience all around! Super friendly staff at the front desk and a clean, updated room (even though it’s an older building). Walkable, safe area within a minute’s walk of the ferry. We will be back!

Loved this historic, charming hotel. It was undergoing some renovation which created some noise, and the cofee maker and drape’s needed to be repaired during our stay. Staff was great when they were there.

Parking will cost you $30 per day. The front desk is not staffed so you may have to call someone to get in the building. Construction in the hotel was loud and constant. Room was fine, but bathroom was outdated.

Air conditioning didn’t work. It was 98 degrees. All we had was a fan.

If you like boutique hotels, this is for you! Charming and centrally located boutique Hotel right next to the ferry station. I will definitely stay here again. Beds comfortable, staff accommodating, and newly remodeled bathrooms. Highly recommend!

This is a small hotel conveniently located in the heart of Sausalito. The room was nice with a great view of the bay. The hotel & room was immaculately clean with comfortable beds. Parking was easily available nearby, but costly if you did not have a handicapped permit. The only negative is that desk service is limited. We had to call in order to get someone to let us in.

We are woken up on our 19th wedding anniversary at 6:40 AM with loud construction noise or some type of utility breaking. We couldn’t figure it out and the hotel could not assist us. But two mornings in a row we were woken up on what was supposed to be a restful anniversary weekend! There was construction downstairs as well during the day. We complained to the hotel manager after being woken up and he offered a $200 refund, but said I had to get approval through Hotels.com. Hotels.com later denied this reimbursement.

Extremely convenient and walkable to the waterfront restaurants and shopping. Hotel staff are extremely nice but limited as they are required to cover both this and a sister hotel a few blocks away.

Nice little hotel. Our room overlooked the Park. A mirror gave us a view of the Bay. Bed very comfortable. We appreciated that it had both a light blanket and a comforter, so we could choose level of warmth.Room had everything we needed.

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Sausalito overall. The staff were very attentive and pleasant to work with. I only have 1 complaint. On Friday morning i was woken by construction nailers and jackhammers below my room like it was in my room. So loud and obnoxious. The weekend was quiet and then again Monday morning the construction noise resumed. Luckily I was checking out but it was upsetting.

The only problem was there was construction going on nearby so there was hammering early in the morning, but to no fault of the hotel.

We had a wonderful time. The location was perfect. The room was comfortable with a great view of the ferry boat landing. Robin, the concierge greeted us like old friends and made our stay even better.

What a lovely place to stay!!! I booked the room last minute as I was in the area for work and had been staying in a hotel with no character and nothing to do nearby. The Hotel Sausalito provided the exact opposite experience. Beautiful room, beautiful area. Michael was an excellent host! Very accommodating. I would love to return to this hotel and this charming little city.

Unfortunately you'll have to tax on 25.00 dollars to the cost of the stay to pay for parking, and it's not attached. Not a fan of that.

staff availalbe when called When I checked in the staff did not tell me how to get settings for the internet. I was not told the Password/number was on entrance key card. The "hotel book" avaialble in the room says password is 2015. This book needs to be upgraded

This is a quaint boutique hotel. However because it is an older building the connecting walls are paper thin and you can hear other guests.

The construction was inconvenient

The hotel was closed and they lodged me at a different location and I wasn’t notified and also I paid prepaid for the room and now I have to deal with that issue tomorrow morning when I leave

Stay was great, front desk as well. However, check-in was by appt, which is not listed on the Hotel.com site. Hotel called but we were on a flight, which arrived late making our arrival at 8pm. Just would have been nice to know ahead of time.

This a a cute little hotel, clean and tidy, pretty small but well positioned to enjoy this part of San Francisco. There are no amenities, so expect just a room and bathroom. That’s it.

This is a unique property without apparent full time staff...no one is at front desk when you expect them to be. Clean, comfortable but no amenities (lounge or restaurant). Had someone try to enter my room at 2:00 am. Assumed it was a guest that got confused but then its a very small hotel with limited number of rooms.

The hotel would have been a good choice if there wasn't the loudest construction you ever want to hear going on right dowstairs. It started at 8 AM and got extemely loud and even shook our room. We arrived at night and didn't see the construction until it woke us up in the morning. I stomped on the floor and they stopped for a few minutes then started right back up. I usually don't stay till check out but we were on a road trip and I injured myself and needed rest. There is no one working in the lobby. You have to call a number to reach the manager. He is not friendly and when I complained in the moring, he said the construction didn't start until 10:15 AM which was absolutely not true. He said he would refund my parking which he never did. When I told him that it was horrible to disrespect their guests with all of the noise and I would have to put this in a review to warn future guests he told me that I was trying to blackmail them for a refund. I never leave reviews but I don't want anyone to have to go through what my daughter and I did. We road trip a lot and this was a first with the construction being right below. I know it is unfortunate for the hotel to have the construction below but being dishonest with the guests and unprofessional made it even worse. They aren't even working the front desk because they do not want to face their guests. I talked to other guests and they were not happy either. Locals told me the construction has been going on for a year!

Check in needs work. They call and ask what time you’ll check in (a bit difficult to nail exactly with SF traffic). Sign on door to call number that doesn’t work. Thankfully they answer when you call through Expedia). Worst bed (sagging and over done with foam); rolling to the middle etc.
