    Very attractive property and very nice staff but definitely recommend you stay elsewhere. 1. One working elevator. 2. 1 ice machine for whole property. 3. Very loud rooms: either roaring air conditioner or roaring traffic, you decide. 4. Shower is a trickle. 5. Rooms are small. 6. $50 a day pet fee and no pet facilities at all. 7. Breakfast is far from free: buffet is $25 a head before tax and gratuity. 8. No coffee in room: plan on schlepping to lobby if you want any. In little cups. In short, long on looks and smiles and weak on everything else.

    My check-in process took over an hour because the front desk agent repeatedly insisted that either Hotels.com or I had cancelled my reservation. He stated there was nothing he could do unless I made a new last-minute booking directly through the hotel. During this time, I spent over an hour with Hotels.com support, and their agent confirmed multiple times that my reservation was active and valid. She even attempted to contact the property directly to resolve the issue. When a second staff member arrived, he quickly determined that the hotel itself had mistakenly cancelled my reservation internally. In other words, the issue was entirely on the hotel’s side. What was most disappointing was the lack of professionalism and accountability from the original front desk agent. After causing a lengthy delay and significant stress late in the check-in process, there was little acknowledgment of the mistake and no meaningful apology, I was simply checked in as though nothing had happened. This situation reflects poorly on both staff training and guest service standards. A hotel at this level should be able to properly verify reservations, resolve internal errors efficiently, and handle guest concerns with professionalism and empathy. Given the unnecessary inconvenience, lost time, and poor handling of the situation, I believe some form of compensation would have been appropriate.

    This property is under construction. The room that I paid for on Expedia was not the room that was provided to me. They had no rooms available with a patio, which is what I paid for. The hotel is under construction. The rooms smell like cigarettes, and the staff was rude. I would not recommend this property and Expedia needs to update their website in accordance with the hotel.

    All of the Hilltop staff were great and very accommodating! Due to the renovation being done on hotel the type of room we requested was not available, but we were given a pool view room and free breakfast for 4 days to compensate by the front desk person ( hate I didn’t get his name he was great)! The waitress, hostess… she did everything, that was at the restaurant in the mornings was amazing! She accommodated everyone with what they needed! We stay at least 3 times a year here to be near my daughters house and this was one of our best stays! Thank you

    We’ve stayed here before. Nice location and nice hotel. Rooms are getting older, so it is exciting to see the remodeling going on. Rooms definitely show wear and tear. Staff is nice, especially the breakfast host. We remember her from our last stay.

    We checked in and immediately got to our room and noticed two what appeared to blood stains on the floor. I went down and asked for another room which they obliged, however, did not seem surprised at all. The reassigned room was run down and worn out. The wall thermostat didn't work which left us freezing our first night, we ended up using the controls directly on the wall unit to get some type of climate control. The shower water was lukewarm and the tub did not drain well so you were left standing in 3 inches of water during your shower. Not impressed and this is the furthest thing from a "4 star" hotel. For what we paid we left extremely disappointed and feel completely deceived and ripped off.

    Marriott has redone the public areas nicely, but the rooms are yet to be done. The furnature in our room as old and worn. In a year or so this will be a very nice hotel once the rooms have been upgraded.

    The main areas are nice, but the room was in poor repair. Needs to be totally replaced. The bed was clean, everything was clean, but the furniture was worn. I understand the hotel recently changed hands and major repairs are being done, but it is a work in progress. Staff were nice.

    The property is a bit dated, but it's centrally located. The room can be noisy because it's close to the freeway. The staff are super friendly. Parking is free. There are a bar and a restaurant onsite for convenience.

    This place is a great location with a comfy bed and nice staff, but it needs an update. (In process - we saw construction crews.). Our room was noisy with the window open, and with window closed, the AC unit was even noisier. Bathrooms not yet updated to most modern Marriott hotels, and not enough charging. We were spoiled having stayed at Sheraton Palo Alto the previous two nights, which is very updated.

Bed was VERY UNCOMFORTABLE - you can feel the springs and it’s like you would sink to the center of the bed. WI-FI didn’t work at all. The bathroom was not stocked for our arrival - no bath soap and they took several trips to remedy this. The hotel and room felt run down. They only gave us three bath towels and the fan in the bathroom didn’t work. So the towels stayed damp. I asked for three more, and they brought two.

    My cousin stayed here and said it was out of date and needed a refresh. It was loud off the freeway so they moved his room, but I’d love a nice spot in the neighborhood and I think others would come if it was renovated.

It was just me but I had to pay for two meals that I didn’t receive because of their error (I ran out of time waiting for the situation to be corrected). It’s a shame because I make regular business trips here and I wanted it to be a good place for future stays but it just didn’t pass the test. Lemme see 220$ x2 x4x12.. so that’s about 12k Marin hilltop has just forfeited over a slip of paper

Hotel was a Four Points but is experiencing a rebranding. My group also loved the hot tub and pool, and they said the burger from the Tavern was a hit! Very great place to stay if visiting San Rafael or just passing through on 101. I’d definitely book again in the future.

    I think there was bedbugs because the first night that we stayed in room 311 we got bites all over a red mark. It was really noisy because we got the room by the freeway. I did call ahead of time to make sure not to get a room by the freeway but overall this will be the last time we stay there and I’ve stayed there so many times and not had any problems.

    Staff was good. Room was dated with paper thin walls. I could hear everything. Lots of construction and noise pretty much all day and into the night. Water temperature was sporadic often running out of hot water. Housekeeping was every other day and they forgot my room. Found wet towels on the floor and things left unclean even with the full service. Parking was difficult as they blocked all the spaces in walking distance to my building. Made parking at night for a woman alone a bit sketchy. I was disappointed in this experience.

    Facility was very clean, bed was very comfortable and they included a soft pillow along with a firm pillow. For being close to the freeway, I found the room reasonably quiet. The heating unit was VERY noisy. It had to be turned completely off to allow me to sleep. Also, the pet fee of $150 was out of the question. I made other arrangements for our pet.

    I liked the hotel for its location and the general layout of the hotel. Unfortunately, despite double windows, the freeway noise made it difficult to sleep. We realized that the sound was coming through the air conditioner/heater. So with the system turned off completely, I put two pillows up against the air conditioner, and then I could sleep. In the future, I will be sure to ask for a room with an even room number in order to avoid exposure to the freeway noise.

    I stayed for 18 days because my home in marin was in construction. At first it was beautiful, staff were sweet. After a week I complained that the WiFi wasn’t working. They moved me to another room where the WiFi also wasn’t functioning. Finally, 24 hours before I left, I realized the WiFi worked in the hallway lounge area near my room. I sat in a comfortable chair and used the WiFi. However, some bugs bit me on my arm that rested on the chair and on my backside. The clothes I was wearing were infested. When I complained and asked for compensation, they gave me 10,000 Bonvoy points. No offer to replace my clothes or wash them, no offer for intervention of any kind.

When asked the only thing js they didnt have the crib set up or even in our room when I called to make sure they would but they brought it and set it up fast.     Room was near the highway, noisy, no so clear. Dated room, the cleaning workers were nice and friendly. The elevator broke down two times while I was there also on the dungeon floor I stayed at there’s no way to take a stairway exit up to it from ground level overall it’s a old dated hotel with limited customer service unless you wanna pay for mediocre breakfast or mediocre dinner don’t recommend

    I liked how the staff was very friendly, the breakfast was great and everything was clean. A few downsides include - our room and some of the common areas needed a refresh - stains and scratches on furniture, chipped paint and the doorstop and elevator up/down button needed fixing. Our bed was creaky. The person at the front desk was friendly but didn't give us breakfast coupons or other information and didn't tell us about the wifi. Our room was very close to the freeway and the windows didn't sufficiently mask the noise.

    I stay here 1 night a week for work/business. Cleanliness of bathroom, room overall is 5 stars. The sheets are clean, no stains, towels also clean, no stains. The AC vents I have noticed lately are also clean where previously they've been dusty and I have had to wipe these down myself. This has been my most recent experience in the rooms I have been given. The rooms are carpeted, and also stain free. I have noticed that the carpets in the hallways have been shampooed and vacuumed. My overall rating is 4 stars as there is some wear and tear noted on the furnishings in the rooms, the doors, and desk chairs, but everything is still functional. Sometimes there's self-serve coffee in the room and sometimes not. Sometimes there is a desk lamp, and sometimes not. The Wifi works, but signal strength is weak at times, so I find it is helpful to bring a portable wireless router (especially needed for work). It is generally safe. It is close to freeway 101 and it is helpful to bring disposable earplugs in case your room faces the freeway. The pool and hot tub is well maintained, even though I don't use these amenities. There is a gym on the first floor, and I have used the treadmill there only once as it is not well lit or aesthetic. There is no view, and it is set away from the main thoroughfare. The equipment is functional.

    Non-intrusive smoking areas located for convenience without negative impact for nonsmokers. Pool area also has substantial outside seating with both tables and chairs as well as cushioned comfort seating, outdoor fireplace and lots of ambience. Breakfast looked great with lots of variety but way out of our budget at $25 a person. Friendly, efficient service. Christina at the front desk checked us in on less than 10 minutes, very hospitable and professional. Welcome cookies a very nice touch. No problem with our service dog. That said, we always bring sheets from home to protect the hotel bed linens. Huge TV.

    Excellent customer service from Vicent the registration and extended his assistance with helping my husband who is a U.S. Airforce Veteran and currently fighting cancer with making sure we were set in our room and explaining the associated amenities at the site! He should be recognized for is warmth, genuine compassionate personable service! We will be sharing this with other veterans' organizations, veterans, family and friends as our absolute first hotel and spa accommodations.     Overall, amazing! Nice pool area. Bartender was absolutely amazing! Very happy and smiley. Downside: the sheer curtain on the second floor had a huge rip in it. The wallpaper in the elevators is peeling off pretty badly. The fan in our bathroom did not work at all. Some front desk staff did not speak English at all, which is weird. But we would definitely be back to that property again!

    Amazing staff, breakfast was fantastic, pool and hot tub were in tip top shape. I only wish the hot tub was open later than 10. Other Marriott hotels tend to turn a blind eye as long as you’re quiet. It’s always appreciated, too.

    This hotel was great for a quick In-N-Out. The staff was extremely friendly, it was clean, easy location, plenty of walkable places to eat. Outdoor pool and hot tub were nice additions. Breakfast was not included but can pay for a decent meal.

    The location, the onsite restaurant/bar & available breakfast are all very convenient & served the purpose of our visit. The areas of improvement recommended: quality of food specifically because there is a limited menu. Example: the chicken tenders should be real breast meat w/the option of grilled strips or fried breaded chicken strips. The mac & cheese needs seasoning. The pool area was nice & had space, pool was a lil on the cooler side & the hot tub was occupied so we were unable to access it. We stayed in a double queen room that was decent size, room was clean, beds were comfortable, however the first room we were given smelled like smoke. The best part of the stay was the customer service from Kristina. She was professional w/a personable approach by apologizing for the state of the room & quickly changing our room, which was much better. As a recruiter, I would absolutely recruit Kristina as a supervisor or manager as she was also dealing w/another couple who was dissatisfied about something in their room while finding us another room.

    I have stayed numerous times for a week or more and have enjoyed my stay very much. This time, however, I found that other guests were very noisy late at night and very early in the morning. Not sure if stronger messages about conduct while staying at the hotel can help? I want to note that the ladies that work in the restaurant are super polite, eager to please and very personable.     I reserved a room with 2 queen beds, but when I arrived they said they only had a room with 1 king bed. I reserved and paid for something already it should’ve not been given away. They did bring a roll out bed but it was very small. Also, we were on the second floor and it felt older. The floor where the restaurant, lobby, and pool felt like a whole different place since it was newer. I feel I should be accommodated for paying for something we didn’t receive.

    We love the pool at this hotel, unfortunately there was never any towels at the pool in the middle of summer multiple times. When you would go to the front desk soaking wet, they still wouldn’t give you a towel?! This was frustrating! We also asked to come back to use the pool for part of the day we checked out & we’re told it was for current guests only!! And basically they had no facilities or anything for us (all we would need is a bathroom). I have stayed at many hotels and have never been told no to stay longer, another reason to be disappointed. We will be coming here for years bc my daughter goes to college here, but not certain it will be at this hotel again. The front desk was NOT helpful or friendly with all of our interactions. Bummed…

    Property was clean, air conditioning was okay, left behind something in my room and called hours after checking out and was told housekeeping was gone and call tomorrow. Called the next day and was told staff would check with housekeeping and call me back. Never received a return call. Item tracking shows it was left in the room of the hotel.

    Unfortunately, Expecting an a lot peasant stay, the ladies at the check in were not as friendly as I thought. We got to the rooms and noticed the top sheet were dirty and let it go because didn’t want to make it a big deal since we still had the bottom sheets available but we decided to use the hot tub which was very cold did mention it to someone in the front and said maintenance guy will be out to fix the problem and did nothing. It was very unfortunate and to top it off. I got COVID from staying here.

    The property was beautiful. The room we stayed in, #204, was dated and in serious need of a refresh. It smelled of cigarettes, there was actual blood stains on the rug. Not kidding, small spots, biggest was 2 inches, but it was blood, not wine or ketchup. The bathroom had a tub/shower. Similar to what you might see in the nineties. Beds were comfortable, food was good.

    I also really liked that they only serviced the room every other day, which is a great way to save water, electricity and cuts down on staff expenses. The breakfast was very nice, hot and fresh. They even had plain Greek yogurt with great fruit selection-YEAH!!

    The pool area was well-organized and well-stocked with towels. That said, additional seating would be beneficial, especially during the busy summer season, as the current number of chairs does not accommodate the volume of guests. The bar and breakfast staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, providing excellent service throughout our stay. Overall, we had a great experience and highly recommend staying here.

    I'm sorry I paid extra for "gourmet" breakfast, which was terrible. Stale bagels, fake eggs, awful bacon and sausages. I ended up eating fruit only. The guy at check- in failed to give breakfast info and the breakfast tickets I had pre-paid. We had to handle all this the next morning! Wished I had breakfast elsewhere. Also, no invoice for my stay. Have to contact them for it now. Nice looking bar & pool area; OK room; nice TV; good fridge & microwave. Slightly above average.

    The property is at the top of a hill, unique location and several shops and restaurants in the vicinity along with gas stations; Safeway, Round Table Pizza, Bagel spot, Jamba Juice, Chevron...the pool area is well manicured and has inviting seating areas. My only gripe is that my AC unit was stuck "On" so I had to unplug it at night. I could have advised staff but just wanted to go to bed. I would definitely return.

    This hotel has clearly been recently renovated - I was nervous about the condition of the rooms when reading reviews, but our room was lovely overlooking the pool.
