The hotel has a prime location and friendly staff, but it is in disrepair and has issues with maintenance. Some guests have had positive experiences, but many have encountered problems with the rooms, amenities, and services.

The staff is always super friendly and acknowledge my name. Give me a quiet room with a view. I come down for radiation and Dr's. appointments so it's a little stressful and taxing but they are great!

Excellent location for going to sap center, and walk to San Pedro market Square,, friendly staff, love the old art, deco character rooms are comfortable. Furnishings were just slightly dated but fine. The check-in system is painfully slow.

There is no bar, restaurant. They offer complimentary breakfast but there was no restaurant at the hotel. Valet parking is the only option at 47.00 per day. The hotel is dated and needs to be remodeled. The rooms are small and restrooms need to be remodeled. I will not be back.

The room was clean and comfortable. Fluffy towels and robes. The staff were friendly and attentive. Great location walkable to restaurants and entertainment. The only downside was the onsite restaurant and bar are being remodeled and not open at the time of my stay. I also appreciated the complimentary water refilling station on the floor.

The staff was polite, the bed was nice. They did provide free water which was necessary due to the rest of the setup. Someone did come to help fix the AC at one point. The cost was quite high for a lower quality. The restaurant was down so no breakfast options. There were no amenities, not even a microwave as they had informed me there was when I checked in. The water refill station was broken, my toilet kept making weird sounds, the AC wasn't working half the time and made strange sounds. The mini fridge froze all my food. Their downstairs cafe they recommended for coffee was closed the entire weekend I was there due to technical issues. It was just not the ideal setup. I also messaged the staff multiple times for support and they wouldn't respond. I did ask at the desk and it was fine but no one came to make up my room either. I don't feel the price was at all acceptable for this lower value experience.

I love the historic building and it's in a great location downtown near restaurants. The building felt safe and secure. I wish they had the restaurant open. But the beer fridge was available and take-out was nearby. Tough to get parking. Valet parking is $47.00 and the nearest garage is a block away. I was not prepared for this so, I will re-think my strategy next time and maybe take the train.

Hotel DeAnza is a lovely property in downtown San Jose with great access to plenty of restaurants, bars and sports/music venue. Room was nice and clean, bathroom very nice, bright and huge. Okay view of downtown and sunset. They typically charge $25/half hour for early check in before 3pm. They waived my fee as I had an appointment at 2:30. Valet parking was $47. The patio was closed for private event and The Hedley Club was closed for renovation, so really only accessible space was lobby and room.

The history of hotel and the proximity to SAP Center Carpet extremely worn. Bathroom vanity small

Hotel staff very friendly. Location to SAP Center is excellent. Very quiet hotel (noise wise). Rooms could do with some TLC, broken wall sockets and not many sockets for plugs! Bed was firm and comfy. Keurig in room but no water available and the water dispenser on floor was not working!
- 5/5
The staff wax exceptional. We left important personal items and when I returned a couple of days later, they had everything for me in a nicely marked bag. Love it!!!
- 3/5
Carpet in room was kind of gross. Large stain right in the center. Bar being remodeled was a bummer.
- 3.5/5
Offered free valet parking since they did not meet my accommodation request. I requested adjoining rooms or same floor rooms when I booked the hotel a few months before our trip. I was emailed by the hotel saying that they received the request and would accommodate us. However, when we arrived we were given separate rooms on different floors. Also, there is no parking garage so parking is on the street or pay for valet to park in a parking garage down the street.

The property is a good stay. There are a few problem areas that are noticable. First off the wall paper is literally falling off in several spots. The shower drain was VERY slow. When I tried to use a handtowl to plunge the drain (I'm a maintenance man) I was gifted with a drain full of black debris. Made using the shower a little uncomfortable. Other than that the rest of the stay was good.

At approximately 2:00 AM, the hotel shut off the water due to pipe problems. From that point until checkout the next morning, there was no running water in our room. We were unable to shower that night or in the morning before leaving. The only solution provided was bottled drinking water for basic washing, which is not acceptable for a hotel stay at this level. Throughout the night, staff repeatedly turned the water on and off to test the pipes. Each time this happened, the toilet in our room made loud noises that repeatedly woke us up. Our sleep was significantly disrupted, and the experience was extremely uncomfortable. We were told over the phone to speak with staff at checkout regarding compensation for the inconvenience. However, the person who instructed us to do so was not present the next morning. The front desk staff informed us that only the manager could make that decision, and no resolution was offered at checkout. This situation seriously impacted our trip. We had to drive six hours back home to Los Angeles with very little sleep. Driving that distance while exhausted is not only uncomfortable but potentially dangerous. Given the complete loss of water service during the night, the repeated disruptions, and the lack of resolution at checkout, we believe a full refund for the second night is reasonable and fair. We respectfully request reimb

Early check in which is only at 12pm no eariler, will run you $100. Wifi kept disconnecting every 30-45 mins requireing you to reconnect and agree to policies over and over on multiple devices. final night of our stay the plumbing went out, meaning no running water in the bathrooms so we didn't get a chance to shower or use toilets before our checkout. (still waiting to hear back from the manager on how we will be compensated for that). Other than that only compliment I have is the room and bathroom were very spacious. on that note sad to say but I will not be booking here again.

The 'boutique' experience was further undermined by the complete closure of the bar and restaurant with no alternative service offered. To make matters worse, the paper-thin walls and windows provided zero insulation from the deafening street noise (lowriders and engines) that lasted until 1 AM every night. Management is clearly aware of this systemic issue, as they leave disposable earplugs by the bed. Yet, they remained completely unreachable, ignored my messages, and refused to authorize a refund or relocation. This stay was an absolute dump and a total misrepresentation of a 4-star experience.

The pictures of lounges and fireplaces and beautiful things shown for the hotel were very misleading. Those amenities were closed. The shower was over a lip on the floor and elevated above the floor, and if you didn't trip going into the thing, there were no hand holds inside. Very slippery and dangerous for a senior citizen. On top of that, there was mandatory valet service that added an unexpected $50 onto the price of the room.

$50 valet fee for my car to sit in the same spot I parked it in. Nonsmoking room smelled like 50 years of cigarettes. Television remote didn't work. Shower was either scalding hot or ice cold and the shower door didn't stay closed. General untidiness throughout the entire building from the moment you walk in. First and last stay here for us.

Cute retro hotel, walking distance to San Pedro Square with every Restaurant you want and bars. Jr suites are a perfect stay with meters in front or you will pay a lot for Valet. Nice staff who made our stay amazing so we stayed another night and went to Christmas in the park. No bar but they said March it’s reopening. Plenty of places to go near by!!

The main area in the lobby is closed, which is a bummer because it's largely why I booked the hotel (to do work with a drink, or read a book, etc). Additionally, they didn't have my name down for a reservation. Not sure if that was an Expedia problem or a hotel problem.

Great hotel with friendly staff. However, the entire place is old, outdated, and a little dirty. The carpet in my room had a huge stain on it. I had a king bed and but it came with 4 tiny pillows which was weird. The buttons for the elevator are broken and worn out. The place needs a little TLC. But the location is great!

Clean room. Pleasant staff. Great location
- 5/5
Updated rooms and very clean. The bed was a little firm for my liking so I didn't sleep well. Walkable to our business the following day and great valet parking.
- 5/5
It's a nice hotel, located 6-7km away from the SJC airport.
- 5/5
Clean room, courteous staff, and they were able to get our two rooms next to each other.
- 5/5

My wife and I stayed one night for a San Jose State football game. The hotel is conveniently located. It has been remodeled, but still a bit dated. The windows don’t close well so when loud cars are driving by on a Saturday night, you can hear them. Other than that, everything was great. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
- 4/5
Carpet really needs Cleaning Chairs need to be replaced as they are Pretty tired looking
- 5/5
Staff was exceptional. Disappointed the bar was closed for repairs
- 5/5
This is a beautiful well kept hotel
- 2/5
The hotel is very old and they charge $50+ per day for valet because there is no self parking option. The quality of the hotel is different from pictures.
- 5/5
Great stay over all
- 5/5
Staff has been wonderful and helpful. We really feel cared for and the property is beautifully finished with state of the art appliances. We will be back!
- 5/5
Only downside is the parking... forced to use/pay valet
- 4/5
I had the one-bedroom suite, and the room was a great space overall. The staff I came in contact with were very nice and helpful. I never went to the bar, but I wish they had a restaurant, because there really isn't much to walk to in the area. The little coffee shop that is open only till 2 pm did not have decaf coffee, and the coffee machine in the room did not work all that great. There is definitely room for improvement, but overall it was a good stay.
- 5/5

We had two rooms and have pre registered to check in at 4. One of the rooms wasn't ready. This morning there was no water when we flushed the toilet. I was unable to wash my hands or take a shower, We used to love staying there but it seems like many things have changed that will probably keep us from coming back in the future. We will be cancelling our reservation for Nov

No bar or restaurant, had to wait to check in, lamps in room didn’t work, only decaf coffee, desk people not friendly.

Paid extra for a corner room with bathtub and upon walking in to our room noticed it was not what we paid for. Super small room no bathtub or corner room. Hotel is very run down, not what i expected.
- 3/5
I really wanted to like this hotel and they clearly put a lot of money into fixing it up but the room smelled like cigarette smoke and there was no hot water in the morning... Staff was professional and pleasant.

- 5/5
This was a great hotel. Stafff was so attentive and helpful. It has a luxury charm with its history still intact in the stones. Very fancy for a decent price!
- 3/5
A nice property but not memorable.
- 2/5
Very loud in room, from street sounds. Shower in our 1st room was scalding hot, got moved the next day, and toilet leaking. Service was poor with our issues. New room was supposed to be available at 10:00, checked at 11:0
- 4/5
The hotel is convenient to many locations in downtown San Jose. The parking and valet situation is difficult. Be aware.
- 5/5
Parking situation is not ideal. Pretty much valet only. Staff and room are great. T at the front desk is an absolute pro.

This little hotel is a gem. The atmosphere in the hotel was welcoming, and the area around the hotel has many food options. It is within walking distance of the BART station, and SFO is less than a mile away.
- 2/5
Do not stay here
- 5/5
Overall excellent, the front desk staffs are amazing! We experienced the alarm errors which I believe are not usual
- 1/5
TVs didn’t work, staff didn’t care. Pretended they didn’t know what was happening. Had a family member stay the same night, same problem, same lame excuses. Complained to the front desk on 2 occasions shortly after I arrived and again later in the evening after they were suppose to fix while I was out. Nothing done at all. Complained again at check out and the CSR said I needed to email the manager, it was Sunday and they were not working and No one was on staff that could help, hmmm seems strange. Sent 2 emails & called with No response. Guess now they get a negative review and I will never stay there again. In a competitive Downtown SJ hotel market, they should try better and try harder.
- 5/5
It was less then a 10 min walk to the SAP center

- 1/5
The room is a size of a walk-in closet. They charge almost $50 to park your vehicle. The elevator I took up to my room looks like it has them in wiped down in months. The reception lady was nice but this facility doesn’t have parking that’s easily accessible. Luckily I’m in a rental car so I really don’t care but I have to park on the street while I was parking. There homeless people walking down the sidewalk being fairly aggressive definitely not a place. I would spend another night if I hadn’t prepaid for it I would’ve walked away.

Yes. i would also consider having a small desk for people to work at in their room . Many people like myself work in the Tech industry and have a laptop to work on through the night. Otherwise I thought the rooms were perfect. Thank you
- 5/5
Great location. Very clean room, spacious and quiet. Excellent choice!
- 3/5
Not much to say because it served it's purpose for the 2 nights I needed it. The immediate surrounding area was not much and the restaurant on site was under construction. The hotel was dated but at least it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Parking was $50/night unless you parked on the street at the meters.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. Good value for what you pay. I’d stay here again.
- 3/5
Air conditioner was so loud in our room that neither of us could sleep.
- 5/5
Loved the beautiful old building!
- 5/5
Everything is fine.
- 2/5
The architecture, arched windows with high quality floor to ceiling drapes, and art deco touches everywhere are as beautiful as the photos. The staff was professional and nice. The ability to add early check in and late check out (for a fee) are a huge bonus, especially for a hotel near an airport! The mattress is flimsy and linens are scratchy motel quality- far from luxury. The pillows are hard, lumpy, and the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on. The amenities are lacking... There's a very limited hour jazz bar with drinks and an express limited menu indoor coffee bar. No on site restaurant nor parking ($47 valet fee unless you have a handicap placard). Ice machine and microwave on main floor. Some rooms are down a few stairs from floor level, so be aware if you have any mobility issues. No sound proofing with outside noise and inside noise are intense inside your room. Very very dim lighting in the rooms with very warm 60watt equivalent bulbs, with one overhead over the door that flickered and buzzed all night with no way to turn it off and my specific room had a suspicious chunky stain on the floor and a vomit odor. A few minor updates (mattress toppers and even just $5 supercenter pillows) would elevate the experience that they're obviously going for with such a beautiful building in such a prime location. As is, I would not stay again.
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 3/5
I liked that you are able to walk to places close by. I didn’t like being walked in on by staff due to technical issues. I didn’t like that no parking spots to park and had to use valet parking. Which was over priced.
- 4/5
Room not ready on check in.
- 5/5
As with any hotel, if there is a private party access to amenities, such as the bar, can be limited or excluded. An alternative for other guests would be welcomed.
- 5/5
What a great time we had at this unique boutique hotel steps from San Pedro Square! This clean, safe, memorable property is a gorgeous Art Deco hotel with modern bathroom upgrades and amenities. Literally a 2 minute walk to San Pedro Square where there are endless dining and cocktail options! Staff was so friendly and helpful, from check in to valet to check out. Perfect for someone looking for an instagrammable, tastefully updated slice of old San Jose. If you are on the fence, stop and book!

Clean, charming and historic hotel in best location in downtown San Jose. Walking distance to all of the eateries, bars and hip spots. Room has great views of tree lined Almaden Blvd. & Santa Clara Street.
- 5/5
I had a nice great time at the hotel and will be coming back. Nice and clean.

- 5/5
Historical, classy.
- 5/5
We love coming to this hotel. It's such s fabulous place to stay and location is everything. The only complaint i had about this part stay is the mattress...room 201 needs a new one.
- 5/5
Love it

Carpet in room was dirty. Air conditioner unit was so loud it was hard to sleep. Shower area was dirty and elevator floors were filthy
- 5/5
Awesome
- 4/5
Bed was comfy but the pullows sucked.
- 2/5
No food options and beds are old and hard, squeak with every movement. The bedding had holes and stains in them. Had to request new bedding. Our view was of their junkyard of old furniture, machinery etc
- 5/5
The hotel is beautiful and everyone was really nice and helpful!
- 4/5
Its a a few minutes walking to SAP center which was great. The staff here were great and super nice! Check in was super easy, the only downside was the AC it wasnt working in the room we got. I brought it up to the front desk I didnt catch her name but she was super sweet and helpful!
- 4/5
- 4/5
Every was great, the room was nice and clean but toilet under rim was really dirty and shower was not to clean
- 5/5
The property and rooms are unique as this isn’t a chain hotel. Staff members spoke to me every time they saw me and made sure I didn’t need anything. From the valet to front desk to housekeeping.
- 1/5
TV didn’t work and the staff never fixed it.
- 5/5
I appreciated the Pre-check in text option, which made check in faster once we arrived. Close by San Pedro Street great for dinner options, but breakfast options were very limited. The nice guy at Hotel check in gave us a recommendation walkable 15 minutes which turned out to be a fantastic place.
- 3/5
Some of the photos of the property were a little misleading, such as the outdoor seating area. They don’t have someone who is available to help with your bags, the valet parking fee was a lot. Our entry way light didn’t work. A lot of the light sockets were loose or didn’t work. The tv didn’t do anything but turn on and off. So a little
- 2/5
Annoying right from the get tho. Check in not until 4 & they stick to this policy strictly. Naturally some people will arrive early so there. Will be a long time and a lobby full of people waiting. Can’t even wait at their bar because we that don’t open until 5! Missed opportunity there. Then I got to my room and although the property is decent and so is the room, it wasn’t very clean. Specially the toilet bowl. To make matters worse the AC in our room didn’t work and it got awful hot. Front desk woman had a very poor attitude about my complaint. I will say the manager was very nice & professional and was able to get us to another room. I’ve stayed at Hotel De Anza another couple times prior to this stay and had a fair experience however and unfortunately I won’t be staying again. There was too many failures and many more options nearby that will get the job done better
- 4/5
The Hotel De Anza is a San Jose landmark and beautiful to stay and visit. As it is an old building, the noise inside the rooms is something to get used to, hence the ear plugs in all rooms. Airplanes sometimes sound as if they are landing on the roof. But the location is amazing, staff is nice, a very warm boutique hotel.
- 5/5
Good prices
- 5/5
We had a great stay. Friendly staff. Convenient location. I recommend. Will stay here again.
- 5/5
This is a beautifully restored historic hotel. The rates were very reasonable for such a classy property. In addition, it is conveniently located to all the things to do downtown.
- 5/5
Love that everything is so close and walking distance. Love the vintage look
- 5/5
Fabulous hotel in a prime location. The room I got was very nice. Illy coffee and Illy machine in the room. Bar in lobby but I did not go in.
- 4/5
Nice hotel, perfect location to walk to the SAP center. There’s plenty of dining options near by. Be prepared to pay the $50 to valet your vehicle. Also, the rooms aren’t that well insulated for sound. The room next to us was playing music until midnight and it sounded like it was right in our room. But it was good music, so it didn’t bother us.
- 5/5
the rooms and lobby were great and walking distant to old spaghetti factory this was 5 stars and i would recommend it

Great Hotel
- 4/5
The vallet was excellent I think his name was Evan. He welcomed us helped us out with questions and was kind in everyway. The ine who checled us in and checkd us out was very welcoming. 2 suggestion would be better pillows and a more comfortable mattress. Other than that everything was great. Oh and the little coffe shop in the hotel was great as well. The young girl was helpful. Great customer service.
- 3/5
Also, parking is a nithmare.
- 2/5
I would not stay here again or recommend it to others. The hotel offers no onsite parking and the surrounding street parking is extremely limited—only 2 hours max during the day and no overnight parking on certain days (including the one I stayed). I was left with no real choice but to pay $53 for valet, which feels like a trap, not an option. This should have been clearly communicated upfront or built into the room rate as an amenity fee—with at least a small perk like a glass of wine or snack included. I manage a hotel in a higher-end destination, and we would never impose something like this without transparency or added value. If valet was $20, I could maybe understand. But $53 on top of a premium nightly rate, with no parking alternatives provided, is just poor hospitality. Staff were nice, and the location was convenient. Only reasons I gave 2 stars instead of 1.
- 1/5
I purchased a suite that came with seperate rooms and a queen bed. But i ended up being in a 2 queen bed single room. Now, i’ve been staying at the De Anza for 3 years now. And this is the first and hopefully last inconvenience i get. I didn’t even complain because i have faith in this Hotel but i truly am disappointed.
- 5/5
Property was good. Valet staff was very helpful. Front desk team also amazing. Only issue I had was the room windows don’t open for fresh air which is a huge down side for me. They should open at least a few inches. One other thing was the pillows are super fluffy and bed was too soft. Out side of that great property, great staff, great location
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and professional
- 1/5
We had to get ready for an event in an 82° room. They also said our air would be back on within an hour, but when we got back to our room 6 hours later, it was still 82 degrees. Later that night, we were finally assigned a new room—at nearly midnight. We had to pack and move all our things ourselves, and the new room had two double beds instead of the king we booked. Valet service was also very slow with only one attendant, and the restaurant/bar was closed on a busy Saturday. This was disappointing because we wanted to eat and have a drink before our event. The valet service claimed we would have easy access to our car, but they actually park it in the parking garage a few blocks away, which is only 20$ rather than the 53$ I was charged. I contacted the manager as promised, but received no response after multiple emails. I ended up disputing the charges. I would not stay here again.
- 3/5
It could’ve been cleaner the lobby was dirty. There was a sign about how much an hour an extra visitor would be which made it seem like you were in a bad part of town and that’s gross.
- 3/5
While I was there at the front desk to check in, another lady was there trying to ask another front desk person for some info. The guy was on the phone and didn't even acknowledge her. She was there for a good 10 min and finally left. The guy was still on the phone and didn't even pause to ask what she need. To me it's unacceptable.
- 1/5
The staff were great… However the AC was not working at all, it got as hot as 82 degrees in the room without ventilation. They sent someone to fix it who later told us that it would not be working for the night. The windows were permanently shut making the whole thing worse. We got the hotel to celebrate our anniversary and we couldn’t even touch each other on the bed from the heat and humidity. There isn’t a safe area to unload your belongings, and if you unload in front of the hotel, the hotel themselves will give you a ticket. The cheapest parking is around the block for 30 dollars a night. I’m glad I only got the hotel for one night. Imagine not being able to “cuddle” on your anniversary. I had gotten this hotel months in advance.

Would love to give five stars, but they seemed understaffed for a Saturday night with a sold out show at SAP. The employees that were there were doing their best and were all very friendly. The hotel is very nice and is in a great location, we would definitely come back.

Wonderful stay!
- 4/5
Valet team was very personable and helpful.

Check in is at 4pm which is in convenient And be careful to check your statements after your stay, they charged me $40 for parking which I didn’t use. I parked on the street across.

Charming property, clean room and upkeep of facility, excellent location and view of downtown SJ, staff are very friendly

Safe, clean and perfect stay if you are going to a concert at sat
- 5/5
It was the old time feeling of a original hotel
- 4/5
In flight path SJC, occasional ‘downtown noise’, but not disturbing.
- 5/5
We had the most WONDERFUL stay at this hotel for 3 nights (checked out yesterday). We were so impressed with the level of service from the staff. From the Vallet attendant who held the door for us every time, to the front desk employees round the clock, to the lovely female staff member who offered to take a picture for us and went out of her way to make sure my husband received the coffee he requested. We called down for extra blankets and within a matter of seconds they were knocking on our door to give them to us. The room was spacious (suite) and comfy, the location was excellent for walking around. Our whole family had a great time and we would ABSOLUTELY recommend this hotel to any and eveyone! Thank you again!

Good location. Metered parking that can be conveniently paid once you download the app

Highly recommend this renovated Art Deco hotel.... Only thing missing is a pool!!
- 5/5
- 4/5
Staff at this hotel are super friendly and helpful, the rooms okay, but personally I'd think twice about the location if returning to San Jose. There are plenty of hospitality options a short walk away, but if you want a convenience store or drug store--that's a long walk (at least a mile away). Good coffee in the ground floor cafe, but very limited breakfast options--you better like oatmeal.

Very nice art deco hotel. Located in heart of downtown, so close to good restaurants etc. I enjoyed my stay!
