Cute spot right in the heart of Union Square. The room was small, but perfect for sleeping and getting ready. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I loved the overall vibe of the hotel. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

A historical hotel in downtown San Francisco. The staff were excellent, however the rooms were old and outdated. Maintenance had to come in and repair the light fixture, plug the cable wire into the wall for the TV, and repair the air conditioning.

Pretty spacious room, cute decor, and nice bed. The AC was REALLY loud and hard to turn off, so we just ended up unplugging it.

What really made the stay even better was the staff—super friendly, attentive, and always available to help with anything we needed. You can tell they genuinely care about guests having a good experience. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a comfortable, clean, and beautifully designed place to stay!

I made a mistake with booking a room and issue was resolved very quickly. Will stay here again when I am back in town:)

The room was very small and our room’s view was disappointing as it looked directly into another hotel room so having natural light shine in was not possible due to privacy. The bedding and comfort of the bed was very nice. The staff were very nice. The hotel breakfast was well prepared. I only wish they had other drink options like diet coke. The location was so close to union square which was convenient. Overall, we liked our stay.

This bottle was nice clean rooms, small bathrooms. Loved that they had queen beds. The breakfast that we paid to come with the rooms was delicious. Drawback that pets were allowed on property and my family has bad allergies so we suffered everytime we were in the rooms, runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing and congestion.

Close to Market Street Slight problem with the air conditioner. I did forget to report it at the time. Delays in food in restaurant.

Pros - location, staff, reasonable rates, comp tea/coffee in lobby, comfy beds. Cons - extremely old building so water pressure not great, a/c didn’t work properly, light/fan came on randomly during night & front door didn’t open easily

The hotel itself is rather compact, and I was highly satisfied with the spacious tapestry room, delicious breakfast, and great location.

Two gentlemen at the desk were particularly helpful and pleasant--sorry that I don't remember their names! However the first one checked me in on Saturday afternoon around 1pm and selected a great upgraded room near the front of the building, based on my request. The second gentleman was on duty very early Sunday morning and was very helpful, when I asked for some information.

The staff was super friendly and helped accommodate my needs of not having a phone charger by charging my device for me. Personally I don't have much to comment on what could have been better. Everything exceeded what my expectations were!

Second floor Room on O’Farrel street side was noise all through the night. Idiots yelling, cars honking, buses, cable cars, garbage trucks, dumpsters slamming. Zero sleep! Do not let them put you on a low floor on the O’Farrel side.

Excellent location, The hotel is very nice. Our room was nice and clean. The beds are super comfortable. And the trolly is right there. My only complaints are that they don’t have a parking structure for the hotel so that is a little hike and shower water never really got hot hot. But with all that said I would stay there again.

Location is superb if you want to be in the centre of action, next to Macy’s. Hotel is refurbished in an old building with a lot of character. I particularly like the showerhead which is detachable and the clever designs to maximise the space of the room.

The property wasn’t bad, the room was quiet and we were right in front of elevator. My 2 complaints are: price of the continental breakfast for 18.00 was ridiculous. It was a good breakfast but 18.00 was crazy. The 2nd was size of bathroom. Room was fine but bathroom is pretty small just FYI

Room was spotless, and housekeeping did a good job cleaning while I was away. Lobby staff always greeted me as I entered and exited the building. Always very joyful. Would definitely recommend.

The room we got the first day had no central heating and no hot water for the shower. Then the second day they changed us to a bigger room which was much better.

The biggest problem was that it was very noisy (the outside noise was not even reduced, let alone blocked). I was constantly woken up during the night with all the noise. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable, so thank you to all those I got to meet during my stay.

Good location easily walkable from the BART station and cable car terminus on Powell Street, easy to get around. Cold continental breakfast with option to purchase hot dishes. Room was on the small side but not unusual for city centre location. Overall a decent stay and would happily stay again

Overall, the property was very nice and right in the middle of everything. The reason for the stars is because I left something at the hotel and called the same weekend about it. I never received a response. One would hope for better customer service.

Clean room and comfortable bed. The sink never drained properly. While I’m very use to sleeping in cold temperatures the thermostat was difficult to figure out. There was also a huge roach found in the shower on the 3rd night despite being clean.

Day 1, I couldn’t get the water to come out of the shower - water flow was strong and the right temperature if you wanted a bath but not if you wanted to shower. I asked a random cleaning person what I was doing wrong. And from Day 2, water came out of the shower, but it was tepid ( cool?) and came in tiny dribbles.

The room we were in had air conditioning that wasn't working properly (the staff engineer had to come in and change the cable running to the outlet), and there was dust caked on the bottom of the unit. The property is old--understandable--but it appears neglected and in need of attention. We interacted with two staff members. One was quite friendly and pleasant; the other wasn't. Despite its location, I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Great authentic Italian restaurant around the corner. Near Union Square and cable cars to wharf.

Rooms were bigger than expected, having the lounge downstairs was nice for a relax and a glass of wine. The breakfast option was convenient also, then being in the heart of Union Square it’s all available to you.

Was moved to a third room within eight hours on our first night stay. Air-conditioning did not work. Fan was about to fall out of the ceiling. Staff did lil to nothing to help us with compensation for the poor stay was offered to drink tickets before having to call the Hilton number.

The hotel itself is nice and the rooms are nice The location is not great. It is literally on the edge of a pretty bad area. I would not walk around it again at night.

It was a small but cozy room. unfortunately we had to deal with the difficulties of trying find parking. We had to pay for 2 1/2 nights of parking ($76.00). I was impressed to find my name in the TV as a Welcome announcement; that was awesome!

Location was great, staff were very friendly, and breakfast was delicious. But the door of the room does not fully close and has a gap with the wall. Also the lock for the bathroom is not working which is an embarrassing thing. If you travel with family members it is ok, but if you pay close attention to security or travel with colleagues… maybe another place would be better.

Enjoyed a peaceful stay at The Barnes. Staff was friendly and helpful. I greatly appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea in the morning. The one inconvenience I encountered was on Sunday night when my key card didn't work and I got locked out of my room for about half an hour, and it turned out the door lock battery was completely drained and not working. Reception staff sent facilities to try and recharge it but that didn't work either, and they were only able to open the door with a drill. After a long day of exploring the city, this was definitely a sour way to end the night.

Very disappointed with this Hilton hotel. The bathroom is tiny and the bathtub was clogged. We could not take a shower the last day. No maintenance staff to fix the issue and as they were booked they could not assign us another room. Also the coffee machine did not work. Frankie is great. Very friendly and always trying to help.

This is an old place that's been well maintained and updated with a fair amount of modernity - but still retains some originality. The rooms are relatively small, and in my case, didn't have much of a view, but they're neat and clean. It was definitely comfortable and quiet. Overall, a good value and very convenient.

Loved they always had in the lobby hot tea and coffee. Such a nice little touch.

I was very disappointed in this hotel. The two rooms (2 queen beds) I reserved were not as pictured. The rooms we received was so small that there was hardly any room to walk between the dresser and one of the beds. The bathroom was smaller than a cruise ship room! We had very little space to even turn around while in there. To top it off, we did not have hot water in either the shower or the basin for both rooms. After the first night, one of our rooms was moved to a room that was far superior in space and had hot water. The second room was moved for the last two nights to a room that was renovated. These are rooms that we should have had upon check in. The staff responded well to our concerns and made the changes as quickly as possible. Unfortunately this left a bad impression overall of the Tapestry by Hilton brand. Rooms 509/510 should never be sold as 2 queen bed rooms. Running hot water is a must! I now see that others have complained about the lack of hot water. Understandably it is a 100 year old building but fix it or don't sell it!

A very old hotel but in decent condition. Not in the greatest area a lot of homeless around but it is around the mall and lots of restaurants and shopping.

Traveled with friends and 2 of the three rooms the air conditioner did not work. We were only there for 1 night so didn’t make a deal about it, but if I were staying longer I would have switched rooms. Shower didn’t drain so we showered in a puddle every time. Also NO PARKING GARAGE.

Our stay was fantastic. The hotel is located really close to public transit-Bart. Our room was spacious for a city standard room, however given its coziness, the bathroom door should be a pocket door. There only room for one, but it would minimize the cramped feeling with the door open or closed behind you.

The room was very small and there was no place to keep a suitcase

Cons: room is super small as soon as you walk in the bed is right there, it is more like a dorm room . The bathroom is very tiny. The shower curtain was hanging off causing water to go over the bathroom . The ac was super dirty I had to clean it off with a rag. The ac is super confusing on how to work. The lights turned on at 3 am by themselves waking everyone up.

Excellent desk and bar staff. Very pleasant people and atmosphere. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Great location for transit and walking.

Very clean and in a convenient location for public transportation. The building was old so the heavy wood doors and brick walls seemed to dampen noise.

The staff is amazing and the centralized location within the city is wonderful! Quick BART ride or a good walk to North Beach, Castro, Mission, Embarcadero, etc.

The rooms are like new! The rates were fantastic! Highly recommended!

What a lovely time

Great location in Union Square. Obviously because in middle of city, our room didn't have any good windows, if they were open the rooms across from us could easily see into the room. But overall, very cute, clean hotel with friendly staff.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It was a clean and comfortable place to stay at. The location of the hotel was perfect for me: 5 min walk from the BART train, 20 min walk to the ferry building, and if your really up for it a 40 min walk to pier 39. Overall I enjoyed my hotel stay and trip to San Francisco.

Cons: rooms are dimly lit, HVAC system is antiquated and is basically a window unit, our closet door literally fall off, bathroom looks like my grandmas house and we had to waste a significant amount of water to get hot water, mattress was starting to sink (not firm enough in the middle) They could benefit from a light renovation of the furniture and bathroom. Overall a decent experience and I guess you get what you pay for.

The airconditioning was ineffective and very noisy which impacted on our sleep.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect. It was quiet and comfortable. And Carmen and Frankie were incredibly friendly and helpful. Thanks guys!

We were moved to a larger room much more comfortable. I did notice the window and window coverings needed attention

The toilet didn’t flush, one light bulb was put, the fan was broken, a light kept flickering all night, AC had to be reset by maintenance, the shower head was rusted and broken and the bathroom screen was missing to the window. Room 329

Only issue we had was the shower. The water did not drain properly.

Nice modern look. My room was very quiet as it was located in the center. The morning supervisor and evening supervisor were great, very attentive. The morning supervisor followed up several times on any concerns. The rooms are petite. You can barely walk around the beds. The bathroom is extremely small. Only a 2’x2’ area to stand in between the sink shower and toilet. The shower took a few tricks to get hot water such as turning on the sink and tub then off and back on. I also had to let it run a long time before showering. Once we got there the shower was hot.

The location. It is not friendly by night, but very good during the day The room was interior. The window opens to a patio of less than 10ft wide and several stories tall, dark. The glasses weren't cleaned by years. The window doen't close, it leaves air flow in between both leaves. The floor of the room is not horizontal, very uncomfortable. That room should be an storage, not a bedroom

I like the location. right smack in the center of Union Square. Very convenient. and the beds are queen sized, since we are a family of 4, sleeping wasnt cramped. the toiletries! we had to ask for the toothbrushes. toothbrushes are basic, hotel guests shouldn't ask for it, including bedroom slippers! and the lighting design of the room , i find it quite dark & not to my liking.
