Rather not stay there again

The property could do with some updating on the outside. The rims themselves weren't that bad. There was rust on the lights which I'm assuming is probably due to the air as is very close to the Bay. I had a very hard time using the card to unlock the door. Other than that it wasn't a bad stay. Very minimal parking but I was able to find parking

The staff was frie

The comfortable bed and the shower with a nice hot stream, as well as the location close to the Presidio, Crissy Field, and the Golden Gate. I could overlook the worn‑out furnishings, but not the fact that I found fecal residue in the toilet, lots of hair of all kinds on the bathroom floor, and stains on the towels before using them.

The room wasn’t quite what I expected compared to the booking photo. The room had the appearance of being clean but a close inspection revealed many areas that needed more cleaning.

These hotels/motels are like a dating app…the pictures rarely match the advertised merchandise.

You're getting what you pay for here. It's location is probably it's best feature, The room seemed clean regarding floors and bathroom, and was a good size. But the room was in much need of new furniture and a coat, or two, of paint. There was a chair that looked like it might have been comfortable but had a stain on it and upon closer look, seemed dirty. A side table was chipped. Paint was chipping. There was a hole in the bathroom door that someone maybe tried to patch, but gave up. The bedding looked clean, but the comforter had some stains on it. Luckily I had brought a sleep sac. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Overall, it just needs a little. or maybe a big refresher. everything just seemed tired and used. It worked well for me because I was just using it overnight and out early in the morning. If I had to be there longer and would be spending more time in my room, I'd probably look elsewhere.

it was in a nice safe centrally located part of the city there were a couple of very worn or broken items in the room. couldn't figure out how to make the cable tv work.

However, I was quite disappointed with the amenities (or lack thereof). The bed was not comfortable, and the bathroom lacked a table to set my stuff on. The room was ADA-compliant, which I hadn[t requested, but it did come in handy in the shower, where I was able to sit. Other than that, I can't say much else in favor.

Location is good. Pretty quiet despite being on a busy street Upon entering the room I was overcome by a toxic plume of lysol or some such cleaning fluid that did not dissipate over two days. Despite water coming out of tub faucet it was not possible to take either a shower or bath. No towel rack or even hook for towel, broken toilet paper holder, marked up bath wall with screws sticking out. Closet with two hangers. TWO! I wore socks inside and after two days there was a layer of scum on the bottom of them. It is the second time I stayed here and I had just as much trouble with key card entry system as last time. Never had a problem with this at other hotels...just this one.

I stayed @ this property because of free parking and closeness to where I was going in SF. The room was very old. It was as clean as you can get old. Rusty curtain rod & other features. Paint old so can't get walls door jams clean. Double bed extremely uncomfortable. I didn't need to use heat or AC but unit looked quite old. You can hear the traffic on Lombard but mostly like white noise. I couldn't get TV to work but my connection on phone worked fine.

The bed was comfy. The location was great - one block from chestnut street in the Marina, with tons of great restaurants Yuck. The room smelled bad as soon as the air freshener wore off. The floor was sticky. The toilet handle was dirty. There was nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom, had to put everything on a table in the room. The lighting was horrid - super dark, impossible to put on makeup. They even had two of the four light bulbs from the bathroom mirror, no doubt to save money. The only plug was at the bathroom sink so that’s where we charged one phone at a time.

I thought i booked two nights and I only booked one. The staff were incredibly kind when I acknowledged my mistake. They were able to give me a second night with no problem.

The location is excellent. I was able to walk to nearby stores, restaurants, and the waterfront, which made getting around San Francisco easy and convenient without needing to drive everywhere. The price was outstanding, especially considering the location. It's hard to find this kind of value in San Francisco. If you're looking for a clean, affordable place to stay with great staff and easy access to local attractions, I would definitely recommend the Surf Motel.

Good little motel, on a strip of so many to choose from. You can get to anywhere really easily from there and we had a good time.

The cleanliness however, was what impressed us the most. We booked a double queen Smoking room. ( yes we smoke).We expected some smoke or stale odor as its usual in these type accommodations. None was was present. The room was presteenly clean without any stale or smoke odors. It was quite a pleasent stay

We stayed here for a weekend in the city with kids. The location was great, lots of things nearby to walk to. It felt safe. Parking was great. The one bedroom felt spacious and clean. Sofa bed wasn't too comfortable, but kids didn't mind and I wish they had provide soap for hands or dishes.

The microwave and refridgerator worked well and were nice to have. Another plus was the free onsite parking and the location. The over-powering smell of bleach and airfresher. Would not recommend for some one with breathing issues. I had to leave the door and window open all day to make it tolerable. Also, could not get the shower to work.

TODO MUY BIEN Y LO IMPORTANTE ES EL PARKING.

Rooms were clean, but they sprayed air freshener in each rooms and made it super strong, had to open the door and windows to air it out. Our room had rusted microwave and no one came to replace it, told the attendant on duty and house cleaner, seems no one cares. Great walking distance to amenities, at least 24 parking spots at the motel.

It’s cheap for a reason. 😆 Funny smells, sketchy occupants, cramped parking, but if you just need a place to flop in a great area, you’ll be ok.

This property is located near many restaurants and shops. Room was old and had holes in the walls. Bathroom was clean with plenty of towels. Extra Door locks were broken off. No microwave no mini fridge and no coffee pot. But there is an ice machine on site. Bed mattress sunken in the middle and pillows were flat. But for the price it was still a bargain for the location

Surf Motel offers simple accommodations with free parking, conveniently situated near the city centre. We chose to stay there for three nights because it was affordable. The room was basic but clean, and the staff was professional and friendly. If we return to San Francisco, we would definitely stay at the Surf Motel again. The kitchen lacked plates and cutlery, so we had to buy plastic ones for dinner.

You will not sleep well at all on the horrible mattress!

Bathroom was decent, water pressure for shower was excellent. Shampoo and body wash were provided. Sheets had burnt cigarette holes through them so didn't get to use them. A/c was great, staff was quick and fast to get me checked in. Value of room was fair considering these conditions. But wouldn't stay for more than one night.

Great location, free parking is a plus but I stayed two nights and no one came to clean the room or change towels, apparently you have to request to have your room cleaned, there’s absolutely no late check out whatsoever so keep that in mind but other than that the place is pretty decent for the price.

We got a disabled room. The beds had no padding, the mattress was like sleeping on a box spring. The other mattress literally screamed when sat on and was just horrific as the first bed. The shower didnt work and the only help we got for it was a very small sign in the office. My mom is blind and disabled she is not going to walk to the office for a tiny sign of how to work the shower. They need the signs in the bathrooms. Only one parking space per room and when we asked where we should park the other car they said the street, we aren't from san francisco and woke up to the entire street of cars with tickets, including ours. The staff was very rude when we asked for an extra pillow and blanket to try and make the bed bearable for my mom. The door did not shut all the way in the bathroom and the main bedroom door. The ac also did not work and it was muggy all night long. And finally the TV only had one channel and it played murder documentaries all night long.

Parking is hard. If you are visiting SF and gets home late, it is hard to find parking. We had to fight with our spot. Also, one of the staffs knocked so hard at 3am just to ask us to move our spot. It doesn’t even make sense. Not a great experience overall. The only thing is good is the area.

Desk advised 37 rooms on property and 27 available parking sports (several handicap). Might have filled up our Thursday night after 10p, but when checked out at 11a there were already several open.

Parking horrible had to pay extra needed ground floor room im handicapped and they only have 2 rooms for handicap people so the extra pay was for their so called deluxe rooms , what a joke

The room wasn’t ready at check in, had to wait to get in. Door knobs were falling off on the bathroom doors. Was poorly cleaned. It is in a nice area so that was cool. The family room was big enough for my family.

Key didn't work, had to ask to change to twice. Parking was limited but didn't have a hard time finding a spot, it was also covered. Shower pressure was good. Bed was ok, but paint and everything in the room needs to maintenance. Room had a fridge, and microwave and TV. But I did not use. There was no password for wifi so I could not do any work on my laptop. Overall it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Our neighbors had kids that were loud and running up and down the hallway. There were men smoking constantly in front of their doorway. We just needed a place to sleep and shower, and our room smelled like bleach so it was cleaned I guess. Also parking was free so that was a plus.

I had a mixed experience staying at this hotel. On the positive side, the location is very convenient, parking is free (which is a huge plus), and the price is quite affordable compared to other options in the area. However, there were a few disappointments that impacted our stay. The listing was a bit misleading, we were expecting a mini fridge in the room, but there wasn’t one. The TV was also not working during our stay, and while the room was clean, it definitely looked like it could use some maintenance and updating and the walls are pretty thin you could hear others next door. One of the biggest issues was the lack of clarity in the online description. Had the amenities and room details been more accurately described, I likely would have chosen to upgrade to a different room. Additionally, Expedia indicated that early check-in was available for a fee, but when I asked the front desk, I was told this wasn’t an option and had to wait until the standard 3 PM check-in time. It would be helpful if this information were clearly and accurately reflected online to avoid confusion. Overall, the stay was okay for the price, but better transparency in the listing would have made a big difference in managing expectations.

OMG was this place a dump. Worst motel I’ve ever stayed in and I’ve been in some stinkers.

The location is amazing, lots of stores, restaurants, bars and other attractions near by in walk distance. Baker beach is 13 mins away, Pier 39 is as well. The motel is a bit outdated. The room was clean, the bedsheets were excellent. had a microwave& fridge . No phone, hair dyer or room service but if you need a quick place to stay with basic necessities & dont mind an outdated motel then this place is perfect.

Walls had hooks & nails on but no pictures. Base boards , walls were filthy, paint peeling off walls. Rusty hinges & door knobs. There was a hole in the wall as if a fist went thru it and up above shower a bubble as big as an apple was hanging with paint peeling. I thought it was going to cave in.

Rooms are dusty, seems like they dont sweep/mop the floor. There are broken items, sink drain and holes on the wall that needs to be fix. Microwave is dirty from previous people usage that staff did not clean.

The surf motel was great, room 218 the family suite was big and nice everything worked great the air conditioner the heater worked, privacy was great we had parking for our car, there's restaurants around nice safe secure area my family really enjoyed the surf motel. The price is really good cheap, $100 deposit cash they gave us back our deposit no questions asked. Would recommend especially the room we stayed in when we go back to San Francisco we'll be going back to the surf motel.

so during our one night stay here, someone tried to literally bust down our door two separate times. not an exaggeration they were banging and shoving and like almost trying to remove the door from the hinges which happened for at least a couple minutes at like 10pm so negative points for safety then it happened again in the morning. also minus points because there was not a single outlet in that room or bathroom that wasn’t loose so we had basically dead phones while this was going on. i did not sign up for Five Nights at Surf Motel but that’s basically what you will get. + ac works great

I was Angry the whole time. F that place. Oh yeah and then he said I was getting aggressive with a woman a year ago. I told him to put it in writing and he refused.

No fan in the bathroom, so even a short shower makes the bedroom wet and mildewy. The motel room had a horrible smell the entire 5 days we were there, opening the window didn't help at all. Mold in the bathroom, obvious why. Less concerningly, everything was stained. Literal bleach stains all over the bed stuff and curtains. Ironic considering it doesn't seem they really care about cleanliness. Don't recommend staying here.

The location has plenty of views on to Lombard street with lots of weather to see from the balconies. It's clean and somewhat cozy. Not always friendly or with plenty of ammenites but it is fairly quiet and has good bath and shower facilities and cable TV. Always like to go back.

We had 3 rooms, all the beds were soft and comfortable. Instant hot water in the shower. Unfortunately one of the rooms the heater didn't work, but we had extra blankets and we were just fine. We liked the rooms for location and inexpensive ness.

It had a microwave and fridge and HD TV channels. It was clean. The Manager asked me to pay a refundable deposit with either cash or credit card. He refused the debit card and said if I did not pay I would not be able to check in. This requirement of paying using either cash or credit card was not in the hotel policy when I checked on booking.com I was forced to go and look for an ATM to get cash for the deposit. He was not welcoming but his assistant was sympathetic but he could not do anything about it.

There is a very interesting door stop that is also used as a screw to hold the door together, and the shower had zip ties to hold the head up !! #bonkers F*cking Genius Resourceful …..but yooo for the price a night and no deposit it’s safe and walking distance to a lot and no parking fee…. But yah…. I need to just pay extra for a regular hotel next time at another spot

Perfect location. The place is cozy, clean, and modern. It’s close to the ocean, and you can hear the waves from the room. Parking is right by the units. I appreciated having a fridge and microwave. Everything was well kept. I’ll stay here again whenever I’m in between places in Central California. No AC. They did have a ceiling fan.

Property was rundown, moldy, rusted and dusty. If you have respiratory issues don’t stay here. The AC/Heat unit is filthy. The fan doesn’t work. There was dirt and hair on the floor and clean towels. I brought the issues up to the property manager on duty. He couldn’t care less. Save your money stay elsewhere.

The room was ok but to open the room door was the biggest issue.

Decent motel close to the Fisherman's Wharf area. (Short drive) We found no problem with the key working. Just be patient with it. Checked in at 3 so we had a selection of parking spots to choose from. Be careful if showering as the tile can be slippery.

Parking was fine.Have had passed experience staying here and was always easy in/easy out,but this time wasn’t the same.checked in early like usual-Rooms not available yet but always pay and take care of parking permits so when I come back late night all I need to do is pick up key to a room.guy in office gave me a hard time for about twenty minutes before giving me my key and that’s the last thing I need at 1am,especially since I need to be back at work by 10 am

The room was very dirty. The doors were very gross, strains and dirty all over them. Very dusty door frame, dirty head boards. Holes in the walls, ceilings have water damage. Mold all around the baseboards. Lights has caked up dirt and dusty all over them all! Outlets has dirt/mold or whatever it was called all over them. The room really needs a super deep clean. I had to clean the A/C vent because it was blowing dusty air!

The hotel was a little dated but the price is great and the fact that they had parking was great! Safe area ,dinning options,close to where I needed to be.

The location is outstanding. The amenities were below average. I have never stayed in a motel before that doesn’t have a coffee machine in the room. It was a drag to have to go out looking for a place to buy coffee every day. Even though I personally did not have any problems with this, the amount of available parking spaces is very limited. There was no phone or alarm clock in the room.

I see that this hotel has great potential. I slept like a baby. It was just missing some items from proper lighting in the bathroom as well as a working fan for taking up the mist that showers give off to unwanted smells after you “uh-hem”….no one lines a fogged up mirror, or at least I don’t. Could have been a better balance of lighting both in bathroom and the room itself. An amenity that would have been great was to have a coffee m/tea maker in the room. Believe you me a goes along way to feel the added comfort of having a great room a nice cup of your favorite beverage available at the touch. The guys were very cordial and accommodating to me personally as I am handicapped and it has affected my hearing. So repeatedly a question was no bother to them. They have handicapped parking which was great to have. And the best added feature was the elevator. Extremely convenient for me. Third floor no problem. Elevator, here it comes! So this was difficult to actually review. I wish them good fortune.👍

This motel was poorly run. Front end staff were less than friendly, the room was run down and falling apart- rusty rotting light fixtures, run down beat up mattresses, the bathroom door was rotting off the hinges, the cupboard was stuck closed because of the humidity; the bathroom vent was not working, no window for airing out , the shower floor drain was plugged with other people’s hair; the tv was stuck on one channel with a dead remote. and they never cleaned our room once during our stay. When I said something they dismissed it and were rude. Definitely don’t recommend this place ever- even if it was semi-close to minor amenities…

No towels on arrival. We had to request some the next morning. The TV remote felt like it hadn't been cleaned in years. Very sticky. Suuuper tight parking, but at least it's included on the price of the stay. Great location though. Walking distance to restaurants and Walgreens, and a 5-10 min drive to most SF attractions.

The best thing going for this property was the safe, convenient parking. Though clean as far as I could tell, the place is pretty bare bones and on the tired, run down side. The pillows were flat, lifeless pancakes. The mattress was in need of replacing. The cords were cut in the place where the hair dryer should be and it appeared the hair dryer may have been stolen at one time. Fixtures around the room showed some significant rust. Just a poor old property that’s seen better days.

I drove from San Diego to San Francisco after booking a ADA room at this hotel. I drove 10 hours and when I got there they didn’t have a room that would accommodate my wife. She is the reason I asked for an ADA room because she is a right leg amputee and travels with an electric scooter! I was so angry because I contacted Expedia and they were not able to help me either. The hotel refunded my deposit but I had to book a different room at the last minute and paid $300 more for that room. If you book a room at Surf Motel call them and speak to someone to make sure you get the too you ask for.

There is a good opportunity for The Surf Motel to be a diamond in the rough, but it needs a serious deep clean: walls, corners, ceilings, etc! I can tell the housekeepers clean as there was a strong odor of bleach in the room. B there is more to cleanliness than smelling bleach. Jay, the front office representative was very helpful, and wonderful to do business with!

The parking is free which is a nice plus jn the area but first come first serve whicn can make things tricky. Our TV was not working per the instructions so we asked for help. The first guy must have gone home because the man who replaced him was terrible. He had a very thick accent and git frsuted quickly when we were trying to understand him. After trying to fix the TV he said maintence will be back in two minutes. We had to get back to the hospital so we wait we wiuld touch base when we get back. We return and there is someone pulling out of a spot. While waiting he gets out his car and tells us it is manager parking (which isnt marked BUT another spot deeper in was marked as manager parking which was empty). We tell him okay well park further down and he tells us no. Park in the handicap. We tell him we dont feel comfortable doing that... he insists and we still refuse and park in the unmarked manager space. They come and wake us up at 1am and inform us we cannot park there and need to move?!! The marked managers spot was still open by the way. We parked there and went back to sleep. Overall the room was clean. Bed was more comfortable. Towels were very scratchy this couod have been a 4 -5 star if our TV had been fixed and we werent treated the way we were.

Our bathroom light went out and was flickering the whole time. There was a specific “method” to open the doors, the scanners need to be updated. The second lock on our door was missing. Keyhole was scratched. Hairdryer was missing. I stayed for two nights and they denied me changing rooms when I brought these issues up and showed them photos and videos(tried to). Absolutely don’t come here splurge some more and get closer to the attractions (pier 39) you’ll be paying in parking either way and some hotels have valet and locked parking. cleaning staff are clearly doing amazing considering who they have as management. Please update these rooms.

The property itself was a little run down, the key cards were not reliable and had to get them redone. The main door, whilst shutting could still see daylight in some parts round the seal, so needs re-doing. This did let noise in and other guests were not always thoughtful of others and noisy at time. However, over all an average stay. Clean and functional and served its purpose. Nothing special and would not look to make a repeat visit.

Our reservation was not recorded and they were sold out! The staff was amazing!! Can't say enough about how (Michael?) helped us thru the whole experience. Because of his help we were able to navigate the Expedia system and find rooms. Because of his efforts I would not hesitate to book there again.

There was also sharp staples sticking out of the bedside table and a nail sticking out of the ground (which, yes, were both rusty too) which wasn’t exactly fun to figure out. Also, not a big deal but it doesn’t happen often; the housekeeper still knocked at 9:30am even though we had our “do not disturb” sign on the door & check out wasn’t until 11am. Overall probably wouldn’t stay here again, but in a pinch with nowhere else available, it was okay.

The room looked clean, but don't wear our shoes indoors, and our feet were black from walking on the floor in our room. The toilet didn't flush; the fill valve was broken. There was no water pressure, and the hot water was non-existent. The towels were old rags. The door would not open easily. I was helped when I asked for help, but this was a lot of things that were neglected, and you still charge these rates. Additionally, people were talking loudly in the carport area all night.

Mattress Bed - DIRTY linens and blankets never wash and you can see that never change at all, it looks like they just only straightened up after used just to look nice but when you check it lots of leaves fibers from clothes and hair from the previous users. Air conditioner - Old and Rusty. We run the AC and blows lots of dust so we turn it off right away. TV - no signal you need to figure out and call the desk how it works? Refrigerator - Not works well it’s warm not cold. Shower - shower head not works at all it’s broken it runs only the faucet. Ceiling - has spider Floor - has roaches crawling in the bathroom. Walls - is very thin you can hear the next door and the outside and running cars in the street. Overall -Very Poor and need to work out the cleanliness of the room and need fixed or change the appliances.

The Surf Motel is located in perfect place, clean, quiet, nice stuff, have everything in the room that we need and have parking. It's the second time that we stay there and we enjoy it.

This property was very nerve racking to me because the electrical was faulty. I turned on the lights by the bed and everytime my son sat down on the bed the electricity would go off and on light it had a short somewhere. The door to get in the room was a tripping hazard waiting to happen. The rooms where connected to each other but they put closets like the kind you purchase at ikea in place to separate the room. A couple trying to get in their room at the same time as my family was having trouble just unlocking their door with key card. The room smelled funky and musty.

The location was great and the motel offered good value for the price. The bedsheets appeared clean, though there were some burn marks on them, along with noticeable marks on the doors, walls, and possibly mold on the ceiling. The room had a strong chemical cleaner smell, which was a bit overwhelming. There was no hand soap provided, so we had to purchase our own.

My family Loved that we could step out for fresh air anytime and Although, the key cards were a little tricky to use and they could’ve had more utensils for us to use in the room like toilet paper or dishes, we loved that it had a microwave. The workers stay in the room above me and partied til 12 AM. They were moving furniture and stomping around and talking very load. And then at 4AM they started again. I had to get up at 6AM. No reading materials, No coffee service. The floors felt sticky. And there was no bathtub.

One of the worst rooms .. guess it's a regular place for homeless...the room had only one light...the ceiling was covered with mould..the worst thing is in the middle of night the bed got broken one of its legs and it felt like have to sleep in a slide Wil not recommend.

It is well situated near the Embarcadero waterfront in SF. Great location and some good food nearby. It is helpful to be able to park in their parking lot with a parking tag as a guest.

The location was perfect! Near to golden gate bridge (1hr. Walk). With free parking but not guaranteed. First come first serve basis. We never had any issue with their parking. It was Always available. The room was clean. You get what you paid for. We wasn’t be able to sleep properly at night and our daily itinerary got affected. Bec. It’s hard to go around sfo with lack of sleep. Just an fyi for everyone. We can hear their conversation from our room. From the people upstairs.Their television as well at ( midnight ). Kids yelling at the parking lot and running in the hallway at 11pm. We can hear their footsteps upstairs, when they shower and when they use the bathroom ( flushing ). Expect to hear it day and night. Im not sensitive to any noise as long as it doesn’t happen continuously. But during our stay, it was a never ending noise. Washroom has no exhaust when you shower. Poor ventilation. I have no problem with the staff. They are friendly and accommodating. The check out process was smooth. Thanks

The room we stayed in had a hole above the shower which was halfway covered by a trash bag. Toilet roll holder was broken, broken tiles leading to the bathroom, bathroom door was very hard to open and close, the lights over the sink didnt work, and once 930am hit, housekeeping was looking into our room window to see if we checked out, then 10am rolled around and she knocked on the door. Check out is 11am.

The Surf Inn didn’t just accommodate our quirks; it celebrated them. It was as if the universe had designed this place with us in mind—a sanctuary for those who find beauty in imperfection and humor in the musty corners of life. We must confess, however, to a minor transgression during our stay. In a moment of gastronomic rebellion, we indulged in a feast of a questionable pasta salad. The aftermath was a series of unintended emissions that violated the sanctity of our no-smoking room.To the housekeeping staff we extend our sincerest sorry.

I paid for a place to park, a bed, and somewhere to lay down. It had all that for a fair price. It’s not a 5 star resort style stay. It’s a warm bed with a hot shower.

No maid service, so no beds were made. Plus no new towels...same towels for 3 days. One double bed in a very small room. Secondary door lock broken. Not at all what we expected. Worst ever.

The site of the motel is unusual, located on the busy Lombard street it has access to good food and sites, They do place you with what room you first selected when you paid online or what is available. The rooms are cozy, working cable and amenities. It is fairly quiet and it feels very safe. Good place to stop at when staying in San Francisco for a few days..

The keycard to my room never fully worked the deadbolt was missing male part which didn’t make me feel secure in the least especially the last night I was there, after packing I went down to the management to make sure I was squared away prior to checking out and some guy met me at my door asking if he could use an outlet to charge his phone, I asked why he did charge in his room, he said he wasn’t staying there, he hovered a bit so I walked away and didn’t come back to my door til he was gone, and of there are no phones in the rooms so I had to google the motel to get the number to report the weirdo walking round on the third floor. The graveyard manager was great as was the evening manager it was the daytime manager that made me so frustrated. He kept asking me for my cards to xerox them at one point he almost had me convinced that part of my bill hadn’t been paid which was annoying but once I spoke to my credit card co., they assured me that they had been paid. I really did not need that headache! Oh all the cleaning staff were awesome.

I was traveling to San Francisco with my friend, and I stayed here for 5 days, because my room ran out of toilet paper, and my friend was in the bathroom, and I wanted to find toilet paper for him, because room service was busy, and I didn't want to bother her, so I helped myself, and I got caught, and I got lectured, and I got yelled at, and that's ridiculous, and I'm a guest, and even if I did something wrong, She should not have used that kind of service attitude to me, she is very fierce, feel like hitting me, I will not come again, hope to see friends listen to advice, this is a very scary hotel

This is a safe, clean and affordable option in San Francisco. The motel is a short distance from many wonderful areas of the city, including the Presidio and Fort Mason, is a block from great restaurants and shops, and there is a bus stop right in front. The rooms are clean and while there is some visible wear and tear, I felt comfortable as a solo female traveler staying here.

I have attempted to call them repeatedly about stolen hiking boots and have only ever recieved automated prompts and have neither been contacted regarding my missing boots. It was a very disappointing end to an overall pleasant stay.

Ok place was quiet. Nice environmental made me feel welcome. Only thing dislike was no refrigerator in i had 12 pack coke needed be on chill. Has use i ice from ice machines

we were driving a truck and we told him twice he kept saying that the car was registered under our name. They are not organized in the office checking in cars. Didn’t even feel bad they woke us up!

You get what you pay for here. The rooms were nicer than I expected, but still a very run-down place.

The facilities are too old , some are even broken like the bathroom mirror light. The pillows are like being used for 15 years, also the mattress.

You get what you pay for. The bed frame was broken, plaster was coming off the ceiling, and the light fixtures were rusted.

It was average, the heater was not working we were offered a small portable heater, the front door to the room was missing the bottom weather stripping therefore, more cold air came through gap at the bottom of the door. Otherwise, okay.

I liked the free parking and they had there own parking lot

A nice hotel to stay at. No frills but nice. We stayed the night before a cruise.

Frankly was a MF sketchy stay! The people at the front desk was great, but every thing else is sketchy!

The Surf Motel was very accommodating in re-arranging the dates of my stay. The front desk staff was also very helpful. The rooms were clean and well organized. The motel also had secured parking. The rates were also very affordable. I would definitely stay there again.

We asked for room service to have our room cleaned they did not grant us that wish we stayed there for 3 weeks without one day of getting the room service , their manager Jon was very disrespectful as we requested to have our room cleaned ; he told us that the hotel was for people of lower class and if we didn't like the way they ran the hotel we could live that's what we did... ( NEVER GO HERE AGAIN OR USE THEM AND I ASK OF YOU NOT TO GO IF YOU WANT MY HONEST OPINION )

Its not a 5 star by any means, but is 5 star for what you paid for. Lots of great funky resturants around just. ablock away. I woiuld stay here again for sure. Included Parking is a big plus!

Room was fine to stay in lack of fridge and microwave are a bit of a bummer and no ice machine also made it just ok

Nice clean, spacious, well situated motel room with included onsite parking, depending on room location there may be a little traffic noise. I would definetly stay there again.

They made me walk to a cash machine to give a hundred dollar deposit. The tv didn’t work eithet

Bring your own hand soap for the bathroom sink, they don't supply that for you
