The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, comfort, and friendly staff. The pineapple theme is a popular feature. However, the location is a common concern, with many guests feeling unsafe due to the surrounding area. The rooms are also frequently described as small.

Our overall stay was fantastic. It was my husband birthday and the front desk put a bottle of champagne in our room. The room was very clean. And the bed was so comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

Double duvet was cool and new to us. Shower pressure and temperature is perfect. Staff was very helpful and responsive to requests. Issue after issue. First noticed the refrigerator was not working. Staff replaced quickly. Then shower wasn't draining. Again staff fixed next day, but caulk was used rather than grout so it cracked and washed away immediately. Still drained fine tho. However the exhaust fan also wasn't working and the slope was bad so the room also flooded after each shower. Didn't bother trying to get this fixed. The first night I couldn't sleep with the road noise. I'm used to this from NYC, but this was crazy loud. Turned out my bathroom window was open (probably for exhaust). This solved 50% of the issue, however the glass near my side of the bed was missing the outside pane and wasn't shut all the way either. I couldn't close these because it seems the building has shifted or the window was jammed at an angle. Dealt with this just by having the TV playing white noise all night Room is also quite small and the entry door is poorly sealed.

The area is central, easy transportation links. The hotel is clean. The lift did not have card entry meaning anyone could walk in (we saw someone try). The area though central has a homeless population and drug use, though no issue for me and my group it if I was a female traveling alone I would be weary of staying here. The snack provided by the hotel with coffees are great but limited variety.

The hotel has a unique character with a pineapple and husky theme❤️. Well connected by public transportation. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were lots of homeless people around this street. It would have been even better if there had been more coffee provided in the room.

Our stay was awesome. i'm no longer a dog owner but I like how pets are welcomed at the hotel. I wish they could come up with a way for dogs not have to relieve themselves stands/planters immediately in front of the entrance doors to the hotel. There is a stench of urine that is horrid and the run off goes directly into the path of the entrance way. I think there are 4 planters/stands in front of the doorway and one can see they all get used by dogs.

The area around the hotel is disgusting, dilapidated and full of homeless people. This is an issue if you walk anywhere from the hotel. The hotel has no parking so you have to find a place nearby, the public parking is about $80 overnight so it’s worth considering paying more to stay in a place with parking or valet parking. Plus you have to walk to the hotel through bad areas. The hotel itself is nice and the staff is great but I think this part significantly impacts the stay and should have been properly disclosed.

This is a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. The air conditioner unit didn’t work in our room, but the staff brought us a fan, which was very helpful. Someone did come to fix the unit, but unfortunately it was on the morning we were leaving. We lobby had a piano, and it was very elegant. Our room was quite small, which was fine, but the bed was a double bed and it was not very spacious for both my husband and I. I also did not like the location. It was far from everything, so you would have to walk very far, or Uber, to see Chinatown or Fisherman’s Wharf.

Staypineapple is a beautiful hotel. I loved the decor! It definitely was a 5 star hotel! The staff were super friendly! I read reviews about homeless nearby, but we hardly encountered any. We felt very safe walking back to our hotel at night. We parked our expedition max at a parking garage nearby which the very nice hotel clerk ( I think his name is Ryan) recommended. We paid $60 a night. We left our car there the whole time and it was in good hands. It was a 10 minute walk to the cable car stop and we walked to Oracle Park ( about 30 minutes). We loved our stay at Staypineapple!

The property was very nice and the staff was extremely helpful. We didn’t have any issues with the hotel itself. I was not prepared for the amount of homelessness near the hotel, because of this we mostly used uber/lyft to get to nearby places. There was a guy sleeping on the sidewalk by the front door.

Every member of staff were so friendly and helpful. There was nothing too much for them. The room although on the smallish size was still perfectly adequate for us. The bathroom had constant hot water at all times of the day and the room itself was spotless. The whole of the hotel was designed in a very classic style and gave a fantastic first impression. By far the biggest plus for the hotel was it's staff. No bar, no food, poor internet in the bedroom and no coffee lounge although there was a diy coffee machine in the reception area. There was a lot of outside noise during the night times but this cannot be the responsibility of the hotel but maybe something the local council could work on. Having said that none of the negatives detracted from our stay.

Upon arrival you get 2 coasters for a complimentary drink. The lobby is clean and stylish. They have a water refill station which is a plus. They only give you one bottle water per room so bring extra water bottles is your trip includes more than one person. The room was quite small. It felt very cramped for my wife and I. It is not a multiple luggage friendly room. The room smelled like mildew and didn't look clean. There was black mold on the bath tiles and in the sink. The sink would not drain properly so there was always water sitting there. This hotel does not do daily room cleans. They told me they would clean my room on the 3rd day. On the 3rd day we came back to rest before a concert. It was 2pm. Our room had not been touched. No clean towels...nothing. About 30 minutes later we got a knock at the door. Housekeeping. We were already resting so I requested fresh towels and let her go on her way. The bed wasn't very comfortable. They advertise ultra comfortability, but I didn't experience that. I had a hard time sleeping here because the noise. All night we could hear homeless people arguing in the streets. There was a lot of night noise. We were on the 7th floor and could hear it a little too well. The TV only got 3 channels. All were HBO. There are more channels available, but for some reason they showed up as blank channels when I tried to watch. If you have Netflix you can log into your Netflix from the TV. Just don't forget to log out before you leave.

We love Staypineapple hotels. Bed was comfortable. Nice decor. Couldn’t control the temp of the room enough, too warm to sleep in. Bed is WAY TO HIGH if you have a small dog which is why we did t bring her this time. And the room is super small. Had to house our 4 large luggage’s at a friend’s house during our stay. Also encountered 7 homeless people within 3 blocks of the hotel.

The property was located in the Tenderloin district. For some that might be worrying but I found it to be no issue during my stay. It was in a good spot for delicious restaurants in a walkable area. We had issues with the TV and WiFi’s but the hotel was quick to find a solution. I found the main reception clerk to be very kind and welcoming. She was attentive to our needs and apologized several times for the issues we were having. The rooms are a little tight but it’s expected for the price. I still enjoyed it and loved the double comforters offered. My husband and I like to have our own comforter each so it reminded us of our home routine. Only complaint is that you have to find parking and it’s very expensive. I wish they would’ve offered a deal with a local parking garage or something equal to help cover some of the cost. If you don’t have a car it’s not an issue but with a car expect to include that in your overall stay. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The room was clean and comfortable. This is in an extremely noisy area. Some of the noise might have actually been coming from the hotel itself. It was noisy at night, making it difficult to sleep. Half of the TV channels weren't working, the refrigerator wasn't working, the phone wasn't working. The internet went down. Check-in took too long, the elevator was slow and depending on where you are coming from, there were few public transportation routes to take you back uphill.

The hotel was nice and clean on the inside. The staff was friendly. The location is very bad situation wise. It is located near Union Square and close to downtown. But the Union Square area is just filled with homeless folks all over. When you leave the hotel, there is at least 20 homeless people on every block for several blocks in any direction you go. They didn't really bother us except a few asked for money, but they still feel threatening, so you have to be very aware of what they're doing. San Francisco city government says they have done a good job cleaning up the homeless situation. They have not. They just moved them out of the business district and other high profile tourist areas, forcing them to other areas of town less traveled. Although the hotel is nice on the inside, there is nothing going on there. It appears there is a small but nice lobby/reception/bar area, but it's shut down and doesn't appear anything is being done to reopen it , so there was no social life in there. No restaurant either. So it's just a place to sleep...if you can. The hotel is right on a major street, so there is noise 24 hours. It's a very old historical style hotel, so it has no noise installation. The rooms are small more like New York style small rooms, but it okay unless you have a lot of stuff. Maybe I would say very cozy.

Very comfortable bed. Free cookie and drink were much appreciated. Good location for our visit. Check out Zombie Village down the street for a cool Tiki Bar. Beware the actual zombies outside though. Picked this hotel as it was nearby the A.C.T theatre where we were seeing a play. This location is also very close to the Tenderloin which is scary and noisy. Nothing the hotel can do about that however. So, just be aware of your surroundings if you stay here. We stayed on the sixth floor so the late night explosions (fireworks, not gun shots?) and shouting on the street below was muted. The hotel itself was quiet.

always like to stay, Street noise and homeless activity noise loud was confirmed a higher level room, had a 6:15 surgery and was adamant on a higher level. Only to be informed otherwise at location. I was sent an email confirming my request and then informed at the property that my room was given to workers working on Levi stadium. I have stayed here numerous times and was displeased with the retraction and the room I was given with no compensations

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING HOTEL!!! THIS IS WHERE YOU WANT TO STAY IN DOWNTOWN SAN FRANCISCO! THE VALUE YOU RECEIVE FOR THE PRICE IS UNMATCHED. There are so many details & amenities to enjoy and the location is wonderful! We were able to walk to several restaurants, bars, and places to shop. The best part of this hotel is their top-notch hospitality, luxurious decor, and customer service (especially from our favorite front desk attendant BRIAN!!) We will definitely be staying here again, since we cant afford the $7M real estate!!!

Wow, staff outside themselves - from reservation desk Ryan to hotel supervisor Yesha to front desk Arnold, each were friendly and helpful, making our anniversary stay memorable. The Drama Queen room was the perfect size and shape for us -- beautifully appointed. Though they had no room package for our celebration, they set up all the fixins' I brought -- roses, champagne, chocolates, and strawberries. They made a special heart out of towels on the bed and scattered rose petals around the room. Thank you, loved it all!

The water itself was lukewarm and barely tolerable enough to rinse off before freezing. To make our stay even more unpleasant the heater/AC made a loud noise all night keeping us from sleeping. Even with it being turned off. We had no tissues and half a roll of toilet paper. We were frustrated and disappointed with our stay.

Room was nice. Comfortable bed. Staff was friendly but had no common knowledge of the area. Couldn't tell us where coffee places were, other than "a couple blocks from here" Same with rental car places. Only had room service once in 4 days. Had to ask for clean towels daily. Check out was noon, however when we came back at 11:10a after returning the car, we were locked out of our room. Overall it was ok, not as upscale as we thought it would be.

Bed and duvet covers Use of space in the room Updated rooms Fairly quiet in the hotel Cons: no breakfast or dinner No parking - the closest lot is not recommended and the one that I used was $38 a day and had to walk a two blocks away Not enough food options (imo) Many homeless wandering around Overall, I enjoyed the room itself but everything else was a miss for me. I do not think the price reflects what you get. I was drawn to the theming and didn’t do proper research before booking. Geary street is not as bad as the other streets around but there were many homeless wandering around every where you looked. They typically did stick to themselves but as a solo female traveler, I was uncomfortable having to walk that far to my car every day. I was always back in my room by 7PM each day (on purpose). I was surprised that there were absolutely food options in the hotel. The diner closest was $30 for French toast, sausage links, and OJ leaving me to have Starbucks every day. I wish I would’ve booked something further away from downtown with at least some food option and on site parking.

Seems like a decent hotel before arrival, but we got very disappointed after we walked into our room. There's a strong weird unpleasant smell (likely mold) as soon as we opened the door. Our room is facing Geary St and the window is not soundproof at all, can hear cars go by when sleeping. The TV doesn't work neither, said they will send a maintenance person to fix it the next day and when we got back, it still doesn't work. We've stayed at lots 4 star hotels, this is definitely a disappointed one.

The daily amenity fee also seemed steep because the amenities were a bottle fill station, coffee, afternoon cookies, and wifi. Halfway through my trip the wifi died. The area is not great, you're almost in the tenderloin so watch where you walk. No one bothered me and I was able to find nice food nearby. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. If you can get a good price then you might enjoy your stay here. I would not stay here again.

The room was still cute and clean and staff friendly. While hotel waived the amenities fee for the inconveniences of the broken elevator it was challenging for 2 people in our party to have to climb the stairs. With all of the prestay welcome emails that were sent prior to our stay, there should have been one letting us know about the elevator since we were told it had been broken for 3 weeks. A little sad and disappointing compared to our last stay.

Unfortunately, the elevator wasn't working which was a struggle on arrival and departure days with climbing to floor 6/approx 106 steps with luggage. We were however, given a discount on our room rate when we checked out which, we thought was fair. Unfortunately the hotel bar wasn't in operation but a selection of chilled drinks were available. Complimentary coffee and biscuits were available in the afternoon.

Staff friendly and helpful. This was the best part. Rooms were too small.Felt cramped up. Bed was comfortable. No room service. Location is in the heart of city which has its benefits and pitfalls. Too many homeless people living in very sad conditions impact your mood. Sights and smells of squalor and filth remind you of the magnitude of the misery.

The property itself was lovely (room finishes/bed/comfort were all great) except none of the lobby amenities were available as the “Bistro” was never staffed or open. The front desk staff were AMAZING and super friendly. Hard to recommend a stay at this property but we had a lovely time in San Francisco.

The hotel is nice, but the surroundings and the city itself is in a decadent state, with lot of homeless and drug addicts littering and sleeping on the streets. You never feel a 100% safe. But once again the hotel is great, beds were comfy, and staff was nice. Good position to explore the city, really central.

The room was lovely and a bit quirky with the pineapple theme. Had a really good shower .It was small though that's typical for a city centre room. We had some issues with the WiFi (worked fine on an iPhone but was really poor connecting to an Android phone) and with the TV which weren't resolved during our 3 night stay. The lobby area is really nice. I've rated this based on the hotel itself, but just a warning that there are a lot of homeless people in this area and that the Fisherman's wharf area feels safer.

On its face, we really liked this hotel. However, we had to switch rooms due to excessive noise off of Geary Street and air conditioning that did not work. We were quite satisfied with the room they moved us to. The most annoying part of the bedding were the clunky European duvets – not one, but two, one for each occupant of the bed. I understand the green measures taken by the hotel and appreciate the effort, but one duvet would've been better.

The staff was delightful. Everyone was helpful and cheerful. The property was comfortable and clean. The rooms were small but elegant. The internet was a problem. I could not get online in my room; I had to use the lobby. They were having issues with parts of the hotel system. I changed rooms, but I still could not connect. They were very apologetic but could not fix it. Perhaps that was a temporary problem.

Additionally they were told that to get to rooms that were reserved, there would have to pay an additional $10 per night. The members of my party had to push hard to get the hotel staff to do the right thing, but let's call this what it was, an illegal bait and switch! Upon my check-in after 20:00 on a Friday, I was forced to wait for housekeeping to perform a quality check before I was issued a room key, begging the question why a QA check is being performed after 20:00 in the evening! All the rooms had winter bedding, leading my entire team to wake up nightly in a pool of sweat. One of my team had a nonfunctional safe in the room, reported it, and 3 days later nobody had been sent to fix it. The cafe downstairs was perpetually closed, so you could never get a decent coffee (the coffee in the rooms is unacceptable unless you are used to drinking nearly flavour less brown water. Directly next door is a restaurant bar that plays music so loud that the walls and windows of the hotel vibrate, making it impossible for some team members with jet lag to rest prior to the RSAC at Moscone Center. My advice is to look elsewhere. This was the 2nd year I booked rooms at this hotel for my group business travel and I cannot in good conscience subject my team to this property again.

Overall nice hotel, great location, would likely stay there again. Minor negative, no on site restaurant or bar, they did offer a complimentary glass of wine to be fair, but no where to hang out after dinner for a night cap. again, not a big deal, plenty of spots near by, more of an FYI rooms were typically small but clean and comfy staff was friendly

We stayed for our anniversary and to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival. I must say that Yesha & Angel at the front desk were very nice! Once we got to our room, Yesha brought up a bottle of champagne & champagne glasses with a Happy Anniversary card signed by her. That was so very nice of her. The hotel was beautiful with all the yellow and gold colors. The theme of the hotel is pineapples. They even had bathrobes in the room. The bed was comfortable. The room & bathroom were a little small but it was still very nice. They don’t have their own parking lot so we parked elsewhere & took an uber to the hotel. The neighborhood it’s in isn’t the greatest but it’s not the worse either.

The room and hotel were fine. The price was reasonable. Staff was quite friendly. The issue we had was that the maid came into our room when we were out when we had the "do not disturb" sign up. We have nothing to hide and do not travel with valuables, but we do not need and do not want anyone in our room. It was disappointing to return after a few hours out to discover our wishes in this area were not followed although clearly communicated.

Was a fantastic first experience at StayPineapple!! Loved the snacks and fresh coffee in the lobby. WiFi was great! Bed and bedding were next level! Water pressure in shower was amazing. Two things to be transparent about, it’s a renovated older building, noise from streets, hotel neighbors, and the rooftop club next door was a little higher than modern hotel. And the single elevator was slow, but nice staircase is right next to elevator for easy use. The property itself is 10/10; it's clean, and the staff is very friendly. However, the surrounding areas have homeless people walking around, making it feel unsafe at night.

I was disapponted in my recent stay at this hotel. I had intially booked a 1 King bed (Celebrity room). Upon my arrival, I receive a text notification for early check in. While attempting to check in via their website, I saw that I was reserved for a "Starlet room (Queen size bed)". I decided to wait until my arrival and do a check in person. I explain to the desk clerk That I booked for a Celebrity room and saw "Starlet room (Queen Bed)" in my check in notification. He assured me that "It will be taken care of". Once I arrived to my room, I was under the impression that I was in the celebrity room. It's a small hotel and most of the rooms look exactly the same, only way you can tell the difference is by viewing each room on their website. I didn't realize I was in the Starlet room until I reviewed their website right before check out. I didn't have time to address the matter because I had a flight to catch and disputed my issue with Expedia. The hotel refused to give me any type of partial credit for the incovenience, I will never stay here if I visit SF again. Thank you Expedia for giving me some onekey points.

I loved being received with a glass of wine and the security of having locked entry. Beautiful lobby and rooms are comfortable. Unfortunately, the bistro downstairs "Is now closed" so there are no dining options. We took the BART from SFO, and after dark the area is like any metropolis (LA/NYC) with homeless and sirens at all hours of the night. Nothing we aren't used to, but not recommended for families with young children unless you are taking an Uber everywhere. There are a few night coffee/breakfast shops in the immediate neighborhood. Overall, great hotel in a cool location.

This hotel was a good fit for a quick stay in San Fran. I spent two nights here with a friend. We had everything we needed to get us through our short trip. Thomas from reception gave us almost a whole bottle of wine for free when we presented him with our complimentary drink cards. He was awesome! My only complaints would be confusing charges that come out of your credit card or account before you arrive and not at check in/out, and a confined, noisy room when next to the busy street. Overall it is a good hotel. Definitely seems to be an adults only kind of vibe though!

We stayed in a Drama room, which had a corner bed, but apart from that was small, with old windows which didn't open for ventilation and therefore suffered from condensation after every shower. The AC, while noisy, was capable of adequately heating the room. No restaurant or bar available at the property.

We were in town for a quick mid-week get away and to see a show. Staypineapple is a fun and quirky hotel near Union Square. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Rooms are smallish but is you have stayed in SF, you know that this is pretty standard. Cookies were served in the afternoon, and it was a fun perk (and delicious.) No parking but garage next door was easy to use and at an expected rate. LOVED the individual duvet bedding or as the hotel calls Naked bedding. Our room was right by the elevator and it was not noisy. We were happy with our stay and would definitely stay again.

There was a night club 10 ft from my window that went til 2:30am & the room to room noise was pretty bad, you can hear people partying thru the vents & huge door cracks. Don't expect to get any sleep before that club shuts down. The bar was closed on a Saturday afternoon/evening. The hotel does look nice & the staff were friendly & helpful. The only hotel I've stayed in louder than this was in Tijuana.

We stayed at Staypineapple for four nights. Check-in was at 4pm which is later than most hotels. We arrived a tad early at 3.30pm, to be told our room wasn't ready - fair enough. We said we would be back at 4pm - it was closer to 5pm when we returned, and our room still wasn't ready. It was finally 6pm when we were able to check in. Meanwhile, I counted at least six other parties checking in while we waited - including two who checked in just after us at 3.30pm. We were offered a complimentary drink - red wine in a can! I would rather check-in to my room on time. It was also disappointing that the bar / cafe was completely closed (shut down). It's a shame that the check-in experience was so bad. Everything else was great - room was perfectly clean and beautifully presented and the staff were helpful and friendly (no point blaming the person who checked us in for the room not being ready, but management should sort the staffing levels of their housekeeping team).

We were at this property about six months ago and really enjoyed it, so just booked it again. It's changed, and not for the good. The bar/coffee bar/snack bar in the lobby has been closed. It used to have breakfast and it was fun and relaxing to sit in the lobby and start the day. Now you have to buy vending machine type products through the front desk. The windows in our room were so dirty you could barely see out. I doubt that we will go back until they get the property brought back up to speed.

I regret not getting the names of the front desk attendants so I can’t thank them personally but they were all accommodating and helpful when I had any questions. Usually when I go traveling, I buy water bottles to last me throughout the trip so I was pleasantly surprised and thankful the hotel had a water bar and complementary bottles of water. The room stay was the most comfortable I’ve felt since I started traveling. I always had a great night sleep - even if I slept at a later hour, I woke up at my usual time and completely refreshed.

Hotel is in a really bad part of town, however it is very central and easy to use public transportation and there are great restaurants around. Loved the decoration, the smell ( pineapple of course) the eco-friendlyness of amenities ( including a complimentary reusable bottle that vould be used at the water bar) loved that there were 2 duvets for one bed ( scandinavian style) but would have liked flat sheets as well. Staff was super friendly and there is a lovely welcom drink ( wine, beer or non-alcoholic beverages)

Our first time staying at this hotel for my husband’s birthday. It was pleasant. The rooms are clean and it smells nice. 😊 There are only a few things to keep in mind when staying here. Parking can be an issue, you will need to use any parking garage near by. Most do not let you come and go, so once you leave your vehicle at the garage, it stays there until the end of your trip. If your parking garage is far away you’re gonna have to Uber yourself back to the hotel or walk. Secondly, there are no ice machines on every floor. If you want ice, you’re gonna have to remember to ask for a bag at the front desk or you can call the front desk and room service can bring you up a bag. Lastly, the rooms do not have microwaves so if you wanna reheat any leftover food, you may have brought back to the room with you. You’re gonna have to go to the main lobby and reheat your food there. All in all are stay was very pleasant and we enjoyed it! 💜

Wonderful rooms, but there’s a club under the hotel that plays loud music from 11am-11pm. The second day we couldn’t hear our TV over the bass. We were not warned prior to our stay when I’ve had much cheaper hotels warn me if a teen soccer team is staying. After complaining, they said there was no room that could avoid the music and they had no control over it. We couldn’t stay. The desk staff said they’d refund the entire stay so I was happy. However, after several days they said they couldn’t and only refunded one night of the original 3 night stay. Love the hotel, hate the club and lack of guest consideration. Lost sleep and money.

The property is everything the photos show and then some. You get complementary drinks (alcohol or coffee/tea/sodas and a refillable water bottle in your room. The rooms are small (expected!) but everything we needed even having 4 suitcases from said long cruise. The shower was gorgeous marble and incredible water pressure. The towels and bedding were so soft and heavenly. I’m now obsessed with a European Duvet & you will be too! As a hospitality industry worker I appreciate every little detail when it comes to making a guest feel welcome or at home in any situation and Stay Pineapple WILL ALWAYS GET MY BUSINESS! A+++ 10/10 stars AND it is affordable!

However, a few issues outside the hotel. First the bar next door 620 Jones has a rediculously loud base (to the point where the windows were shaking) so either a deal needs to be struck with them to reduce the noise or staypineapple need to invest in sound-proofing. Also, it did feel unsafe at times when stepping out on to the street, but as long as you headed in the right direction, you get to union square quite quickly and it feels safer. Overall the hotel itself is a great stay!

Then got a call 5 mins before we left and were told “hey, you owe us money. You have to come pay a fee we didn’t tell you about when you checked in.” What a terrible way to send us on your way. $48 “resort” fee they they never told us about, and then begged us to pay on the way out the door. Stay somewhere else. It’s also in a pretty rough neighborhood.

When you walk in you’re greeted with a warm welcome, you are provided with a refillable bottle of water and two drink coasters that you can redeem for a drink on site. It’s great!
