Reviews
The Queen Anne Hotel is a historic, Victorian-style hotel that offers a unique and charming experience for guests. The staff is consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. However, the hotel's age is a double-edged sword, with some guests loving the antique furnishings and old-world charm, while others find it outdated, worn, and in need of updates.
- Historic, Victorian-style architecture and decor
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Outdated furnishings and amenities
- Inconsistent cleanliness and maintenance

Staff was incredibly rude.

Charming historical building lovingly restored with antiques, glorious woodwork, and stained glass. Quirky in a good way. We are repeat customers. Main criticism is breakfast: cheap pastries; no yogurt; only boiled eggs; little fruit; crummy coffee and juices. Wouldn't take much to do better, more fitting to the building.

The common areas were uncommonly comfortable, with two large lobby areas, each with a fireplace. Many guests enjoyed these special spaces. Also, the location in Japantown had many excellent restaurant choices.
- 4/5
Older hotel with Victorian period furniture. Nearby parking lot (for a fee) for off street parking.

The breakfast was standard motel fare. Disappointing in a city like San Francisco. Coffee left much to be desired, especially in a era when there are so many guest friendly coffee machines. The bathroom in our room had not separate shower. Not an issue and not a surprise in a hotel of this era but there ought to be hand rails installed for safety. Hotel is charming and our room was large and well appointed.

We were very much looking forward to our stay here. From the pictures, it looked like a cute and charming Victorian style hotel at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, we were disappointed from the moment we walked into our room. There was a strong smell of mildew in the room and the window faced another wall. The wallpaper was bumpy on the wall that faced the outside so I’m assuming it was from water damage. The sheets were clean but old. Mattress was way too soft and I woke up with a back pain. Bathroom was also clean but old with rust around the drains. Mirror in the bathroom was also old with edges worn off. The breakfast was the most depressing part of it. The room smelled like school cafeterias with not a lot of choices. No fresh coffee in the breakfast room; only a machine with mediocre coffee. The location was also not great. Far from everything and the bus nearby was infrequent. It’s not a cheap place so I expected much better quality. We had prepaid through Expedia so couldn’t leave and get a refund. We also couldn’t move to a different room since the hotel was all booked with a conference taking place nearby. From the other reviews, it seems that management gets defensive when there are critical reviews. It would be nice if they fixed up the place a bit instead. Staff at the front was lovely so it’s a shame that the place itself wasn’t.

Super nice colonial style hotel. I would go there just for the atmosphere. It is not the most modern obviously, but in a good shape. That you need to ring a bell every time you enter the hotel is a bit surprising, but the staff was very responsive. It is not super central, but most things are still in walking distance (if you are a decent walker) and San Francisco any way has a good bus system. Parking is directly next to the hotel which was convenient. I would definitely go there again next time, just because of the flair and the colonial rooms :).

The room was spotless, the atmosphere was cozy and elegant, and the attention to detail made our stay especially enjoyable. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and always willing to help with anything we needed. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique, charming, and memorable place to stay. We would be happy to return in the future.

Historic, beautiful and unique place to stay to stay. Afternoon cookies, tea, and sherry was a delight. Breakfast was pretty good but they need two people handling it. Room had some maintenance issues like the drain was backing up. Bed was lumpy. View was just the alley. Short walk to Japantown and Fillmore district s all as transportation options. Unfortunately, we did not experience the ghost.

fabulous property and helpful staff.
- 5/5
The location, close to Japantown and within walking distance of City Hall, Davies Hall and the Asian Art Museum, made it especially convenient. We would certainly consider staying here again.
- 4/5
The hotel lobby is nice and continental breakfast was good. The room is old and smelt musty when walking in. No central air so air does not circulate. There is a tall oscillating fan to provide some air I the room. The room could use some updates, such as a new bedspread and shower curtain. The shower liner was dirty and stained at the bottom. Not the most inviting thing to see when bathing. Definitely needs to be replaced. The bathroom sink did not drain well, so water would build up when using. Not sure why someone cleaning room hasn’t reported that by now.

At first we felt a little overwhelmed by the peacock wallpaper in our room but it grew on us, the bed was amazingly comfortable my husband and I had amazing sleep. The shower had strong pressure and was quick to heat up. They offered paid parking in a lot nearby that was also very convenient and worth the cost. We also absolutely loved the elevator with the bench seat and the staircases were gorgeous. Continental breakfast was included and also had a good selection of food options to start the day, overall would highly recommend!

Parking is $30 a night & is not secure. The bed was very lumpy from being well used. The pillows were hard like rocks. You have to ring a doorbell every time you want inside. The neighborhood was a bit sketchy. I had surgery & wanted a good night sleep & a quiet place to come back to. The Queen Anne failed on both. We were put next to very loud people that insisted standing in the hallway talking loudly, which wasn’t the hotel fault but sure did sour me on it being quiet. My husband loved all the old furniture that it’s decorated with. Especially the beautiful carved pieces in the parlor.

The Queen Anne is a very charming small hotel. The Victorian decor is delightful with a lovely parlor area with comfy chairs and sofas and several fireplaces. The staff is very customer service oriented. We have stayed there before and will definitely stay there again when we are in San Francisco.

Hotel staff people took care of our request very well. This hotel has all included: Breakfast and evening tea time. Because of no ventilation system in the room, there is uncomfortable air in the room and bath room. Drinking water and hot water taste is not good for us.

all is perfect - being specialty vegan i was not able to eat any thing offered for breakfast traditionally meat-egg-milk oriented, tea-coffe station is amazing offering old times charm of porcelain tea cups unrushed tea time by fire place in a most comfortable arm chair. it was amazing experience to enjoy setting sun shine light igniting cherry in a glass - it is deeply spiritual experience to contemplate sunray in a glass of cherry - i understood why cherry is exactly a blend it is - i've never experienced any other density drink creating same out wordly experience of ecstatic joy... cherry and cookies offered at a traditional hours 5-7pm... people are so beautiful at Queen Ann! i loved every little detail - every moment of experience during the stay - and the near by (Lafayette?) park just up the hill is near as beautiful as botanical gardens!

This is such a special hotel in Japantown. It is beautifully decorated and an incredible example of victorian era style. The staff was so helpful and check in and check out was lovely. They also have a town car that can drop you off down town in the morning at specific times. That was wonderful. In the afternoon they have cookies and sherry/tea and in the morning there is a nice breakfast (bagels, hard boiled eggs, sausage, waffles, etc). It is a short walk to Japantown (1-3 blocks to get at the best restaurants). There are also buses that can take you downtown (38R, 38, etc). There could be more outlets in the room but I understand this is an old building.

We liked the place. Lots of things to see and take pics of. Price was good for San Francisco. We thought we would pay more but glad they are not greedy people. Very kind and funny staff. Breakfast selection was good. The only thing i would have like to have was scrambled eggs not just hard boiled eggs but all in all loved the whole experience and would go back again.

Location, staff, and decor are great. It is a little dated but you gotta appreciate the dedication to Victorian charm. The rooms and also very spacious. Unfortunately, there was some trash left on the floor of our room when we checked in and the bathroom sink drain was clogged. Comfy beds, though!

The building is absolutely gorgeous. Very historical feel and the decor is lovely. My room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. Being in walking distance from Japan town was really nice too. Gave me a lot to do. Breakfast was good. Like what I expect for a complementary breakfast food wise but I found the food above average. I do wish I could have opened a window or something in my room for some fresh air.
- 5/5
Classic historic Victorian hotel. Loved the ambiance—wallpaper, historic paintings, art, Victorian furniture, etc. Enjoyed the den and library areas. Good breakfast. Sherry and cookies 4-6pm. Room was spacious enough, decorated Victorian style which adds to genuine experience. Fun place to stay.
- 4/5
The room was a little beaten down, and the open window upon arrival was a bit sketchy to me. But aside from that it was an amazing experience.
- 2.5/5
The Victorian property was beautifully furnished. Very Victorian. The staff was very helpful. They took good care of us. The property was not very clean. And our room was in need of some serious attention. The carpet was old and dirty. There was an unstable lump along 6 inches of the entry to the bathroom. The curtains were pinned together.

This is my new favorite hotel in the city and I’ve stayed in every luxe hotel of note here. The charm, beauty, and deep authentic history make this one the most magical. The neighborhood - bordering pacific heights and Japantown - is amazingly peaceful and walkable. It’s not a nightlife area, but it’s a very short trip from downtown.

I appreciated that the hotel staff were very helpful in making my stay a pleasant one. The breakfast was delicious and the sherry and tea in the afternoon was a nice treat after a long drive to get there. The room was comfortable and clean, and the hotel is situated in a quiet, safe neighborhood.

Wonderful!
- 4/5
The hotel is surprisingly clean and well-kept for being so old. They offer basic amenities. The wi-fi is not tied to the room so is not secure at all. But at least there is WiFi. The towels smelled great and the sheets were soft. The pillows were too thick for how soft the bed was my side of the bed was so comfortable, but my boyfriend’s side was sunken. The walls were very thin, we were awakened every night by the neighbors. There was a fan and it helped create some white noise to tolerate that better. There was no AC and the room trapped heat pretty well, but sometimes got too hot. The jacuzzi in our room worked great. Our bath wash ran out and was not replenished and the shampoos/conditoner not great for long hair. We used our own soaps. In terms of security, there was an outside ladder with platform, the window only lifted a certain amount but there is always that ability. The staff were all friendly and helpful, but not to th professional standards you’d find at the nice chain hotels, this was more like an informal professional style, which seemed fine and more personable. Regarding breakfast. I love the waffle makers and fresh fruits The coffee isn’t the greatest but if you use bottled water to make your own in your room, that’s good. I think the tap water flavor clashed with the coffee. If you plan to walk to the conference center, be prepared to walk through dirty streets on the way. Overall, if you are fine with “good clean” this is a solid place.
- 5/5
Excellent decor and very convenient location near Union Square and Covid center. They also have their own parking lot. Convenient continental breakfast, too. Only critique is that it has a slow internet and TV didn’t work.

Lovely place, old San Francisco feel, gorgeous furnishings, loved my big soaking jacuzzi tub! Only negative feedback: the staff is pretty crabby, won't even stand aside for guests to come through the door with their luggage, grumbled about "everybody driving in" when we inquired about our PREPAID reserved parking spot, then charged me extra for it. Our ejection from the breakfast room at closing time was laughably rude. Also the addition of the tacky printed "Victoriana" pillows everywhere kind of blows the refined Victorian aesthetic. We heard this was THE place to be for Edwardian Ball, but for next year will probably try to find a closer, more hospitable place to stay.

First of all, the location is excellent. It is very close to the main attractions and also conveniently located near a bus stop, which made getting around extremely easy. Secondly, the room was very clean and well maintained. The bedding and towels were quite new, which made our stay comfortable and pleasant. Most importantly, the service was outstanding. All the staff members genuinely tried their best to make guests feel welcome and satisfied. Special thanks to Diana, who was incredibly helpful. She gave us clear information on where to buy bus tickets, showed us the location of the post office, and even helped us print some documents. Her kindness and professionalism really made a difference. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to others.

SO COZY! It was all decorated for Christmas and was beautiful. We didn't see any ghosts but still had a great stay with all the ambience. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was good. Common areas are beautiful. Our room was VERY uncomfortable. Noisy, warm and stuffy! No air conditioning - just a fan that made more noise than anything else. Staff is not friendly at all. We are not going to stay there again!!

Wonderful 1800s building with amazing detail. Every room is different and apparently only one is haunted (!). Great walkable location, good parking, and make sure you stop by for the nightly sherry and cookies!

Not enough variety for breakfast. It would be better to add things like scrambled eggs, yogurt, cream for the coffee (there was only milk and half and half), mixed fruit, and French toast. I was disappointed about the breakfast. Otherwise clean, beautiful surroundings, friendly desk staff.

It was nice and comfortable and I would stay again a very relaxing stay
- 5/5
The staff was super friendly and I loved the vibe of the hotel!
- 5/5
The history and decor here is fun! Everything worked well. The breakfast was pretty comprehensive - not just a token as it is in many hotels. The best part is that the area is relatively quiet but close to beautiful parks and entertainment venues so we didn’t have to drive much.
- 5/5
Great staff and service! Would stay again.
- 5/5
Really nice hotel with a throwback to old Victorian style. Felt right at home. If I had to make one note, it’s that the room was quite warm and we had to open the windows to a noisy street to cool it overnight. Otherwise it was wonderful.
- 5/5
Great hotel. We like to come back and back
- 5/5
It was a good stay.
- 5/5
It was a very interesting classy hotel I would definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Lovely Victorian hotel in the lower Pacific Heights. Everything was period correct, from the furniture, the paintings, draperies, etc. We especially liked the sherry and biscuits served starting at 4 PM. The breakfast buffet was fine with the usual offerings. Staff was very courteous. The hotel bordered on Japantown and we found a wonderful 10 seat udon restaurant less than a block away. Unfortunately, we didn’t see the ghost.
- 5/5
Great location, just a short walk away from Japan town with plenty of shops and restaurants. The hotel was beautiful, quiet and inviting. They offer breakfast in the morning and tea and Sherry in the afternoon which was lovely. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Relaxing stay in a comfortable room. The sitting areas and alcoves in the shared spaces were lovely. Walking distance to restaurants and entertainment.
- 4/5
But facilities itself was very old and couldn't lock the room.
- 5/5
A GREAT OLD HOTEL WILL STAY AGAIN
- 5/5
Very unique and good location.
- 5/5
The staff were all super friendly and helpful. The lobby was quite beautiful. The hotel was very conveniently located just a couple blocks from the hospital.
- 4/5
I would stay again though
- 5/5
The property is beautiful. It gives you a glimpse into what a nice hotel might have looked like in 1908.
- 5/5
Unique, historical!
- 4/5
I do wish housekeeping would remake my bed when they clean the room. I had someone to that after being out for 4 hours.
- 4/5
The history of the Hotel is amazing. Rooms are a reflection of the late 1800's. It's a set back in time. Bathrooms are all remodeled but the room decor has that back in time feel. Great staff and kudos for the Continental Breakfast. Parking at Hotels like this are always a challenge. They do have a private area across the street but limited space available. Will return.
- 5/5
A wonderful experience overall, I’d happily stay here again
- 4/5
Friendly staff, great central location
- 5/5
The hotel is aesthetically beautiful. Old but super cool. Lovely experience.
- 5/5
Unique hotel in the Victorian style.
- 5/5
We loved the Victorian look of this hotel from the pictures and it lived up to our expectations. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our fave was afternoon sherry and cookies. Parking was literally across the street, otherwise street parking was available. The bodega across the street was also very convenient and had everything we needed. Windows and fans and SF weather helped with keeping rooms cool and ventilated. Stay with the expectation that this is a building from 1890, not 2025. Fisherman’s Wharf and Ghiradelli Square were only 10 minutes , and Golden Gate bridge was only 15 min. away by car. We loved taking pictures here.
- 5/5
The lobby was great. The cookies and sherry were fun. Breakfast was very good. The decor is over-the-top Victorian in a good way. We really enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Lovely antique furnishings! Full of character, charming!
- 5/5
Lovely, historical hotel, with very helpful and frequently staff.we particularly enjoyed teatime with freshly baked cookies in the afternoon. The parking lot next door was also super useful. Overall, a very pleasant stay!
- 5/5
Great hotel for price point.
- 5/5
Beautiful cozy Victorian B&B for a great value. We will come back!
- 4/5
The windows do not lock on the fire escape. I notified management, not fixed during my stay. Felt unsecured leaving things in the room as they open more than 2 feet.
- 5/5
Such a cute bed & breakfast. Franklin, Michael & Lettie are wonderful!
- 5/5
Highly recommend
- 5/5
My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at the Queen Anne Hotel. It had on site parking available and Continental Breakfast available. Staff was very nice and accommodating. We were in town for a medical visit to UCSF which was stressful but staying at the Queen Anne Hotel made things a little easier on us. I will definitely recommend the hotel to my friends.
- 4/5
A time capsule, step into Victorian SF. Helpful staff occupy a dark, ornate interior that's comfortable. Very good complete breakfast, and convenient parking.
- 5/5
We loved our stay at Queen Anne's! The hotel's ambiance is fabulous! We enjoyed the sherry and cookies from 4:00 to 6:00 each day. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful! Our only issue was the pullout bed/couch was not very comfortable. We did get a rollaway bed at no extra charge. Thank you!

The vintageness was shocking but wonderful! We loved it!
- 5/5
Fun place to stay. Situated in a good area. Room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Lovely Victorian hotel. The managers were helpful and onsite 24/7. Parking in the lot across the street was convenient and actually had free street parking the first night. Close to downtown areas and within walking distance of banks, restaurants, and parks.
- 5/5
Always a pleasure staying here. Super kind staff and beautiful place with affordable parking and a unique and special place.
- 5/5
great staff and character
- 5/5
Most Beautiful Hotel ever, as a Antiques Dealer I gotta say i felt like i was in heaven sourounded by gorgeous Pieces in this establishment. The Staff all were very friendly and made the stay amazing. I recommend the experience of Queen Anne.
- 4/5
But the room itself, well, that's pretty funky. Old and in need of renovation. Weird mechanical noise in the wall at night. Loose toilet handle. Mis-matched faucet handles. Furniture that shows its age. I know it's meant to convey a Victorian vibe, but it shouldn't feel like the furniture hasn't been restored since Victorian times. And I know it's an old building so one shouldn't expect a new building feel. But they should spend more on updating and cleaning.
- 5/5
Very cute Victorian hotel near tourist areas.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Very pleasant hotel stay. Decor was fun, with a little kitsch. Clean, quiet. Breakfast was quite good; could be small like a continental breakfast or full with sausage, egg, fruit, as well as carb heavy processed choices. Walking distance to Japan Town and Fillmore street, and it felt safe to walk. Only minor issue was a heater that tripped a fuse, but very quick service and resolved within 15 minutes. Kudos to the very helpful and friendly staff at the front desk and with service and in the dining room.
- 5/5
Homely and cozy, perfect for a few nights base in SF. Soundproofing not the best but service goes above and beyond
- 4/5
Reasonable price. Neat & clean. Coffee & tea water were not hot. The place smells of mold/mildew.
- 5/5

Hotel was an 1890's victorian that survived the 1906 earthquake.

Classic hotel
- 5/5
This hotel is so charming and the staff was very welcoming. If you’re into corporate slop, this is probably not for you. The breakfast was good, parking easy and affordable compared to places like The Westin. It’s like staying at the Haunted Mansion. The elevator is really cool. Easy to unload the car and get stuff up to our room even without staff to help. I’ve already booked another stay.
- 5/5
Wonderful interior design
- 5/5
Very nice, thank you 😊

Fun hotel with lots of charm and character. Loved the jetted tub with wonderful water pressure. Great location.

- 5/5
I have stayed at the Queen Anne many times and I’m always very happy to be there. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are always super clean. There is a wonderful Victorian character to the place. Highly recommended!
- 5/5
The front desk staff were top-notch and welcoming. Beyond the entry lobby of the hotel is an expansive & beautifully-appointed pair of sitting rooms: old-fashioned, elegant and inviting parlors in which to socialize or just relax in front of one of the 2 or 3 fireplaces. Breakfast is served in another lovely, large room, and there's also some outdoor seating for when it's warm enough. The breakfast buffet is good, meaning adequate, but fresh-cooked eggs would sure be a welcome upgrade to only hard-boiled eggs and, imo, please substitute crisp bacon instead of mediocre & greasy sausage patties. We opted to go out for breakfast on two of our three mornings since SF has so many excellent delicious morning eateries. But the hotel buffet is just fine and SO convenient if you want to get a jump on the day. Given its lovely ambience, central location, and reasonable pricing, the Queen Anne is our go-to hotel in San Francisco.
- 4/5
This hotel has a tremendous amount of charm. It was fun to stay here just to look at the lovely decor and historical elements. The windows rattled in the wind and it took quite a while to get hot water from the bathroom tap. The room did not have a refrigerator. Those said, it was worth the stay and the price. Close to multiple restaurants in Japantown and close to where I needed to be. The hotel is beautiful!
- 3/5
Good location if you have car. Property itself is outdated and need serious renovation.
- 3/5
I really wanted to give this property 5 stars. The Victorian history, decor & anesthetic was wonderful. However, there were some maintenance opportunities, like loose windows that shook in the wind; water stopped during a shower & very low grade amenities, like toilet paper. Was just going to deduct one star for that, but the woman who works the front desk on the weekend nights was very rude when we tried to ask about airport transportation for the next day. Better service, amenities & breakfast quality would bump this stay to 5 stars in the future.
- 4/5
Gorgeous hotel close to the city. Not too many frills and the electricity in my room was a little wonky. Breakfast was not much to write home about but was free!
- 5/5
Awesome hotel!! The staff are amazing.
- 4/5
This Hotel was very convenient to where we needed to go in San Francisco. They served a decent continental breakfast and coffee, tea, and water was always available in the lobby area. They also have a computer with a printer available for customer use.
- 2/5
We did not stay the full night. I'm not really sure how to say this and I understand that the building is older. The ambience of course was really pretty. But the room? The bed was uncomfortable and sagged crazy so our backs were hurting. The shower was really short so my bf had to crouch to shower. The pillows had stains. The room was really stuffy. And even after all that, we were planning to stay. It wasn't until we did our final check of the door to our room that we noticed the door didn't seem to lock fully. Security is a big thing for me. Also, the parking is a parking lot across the street that was FULL with very few parking spaces. We had to drive around several times until we got lucky that someone left. How are y'all gonna charge for parking for that little parking lot!? Anyway, I wasted my money for one night here.
- 5/5
This is a great hotel. I love everything. The breakfast was good. Only bad thing was elevator was broken. The tried to accommodate by take suitcases up stairs and putting us on second floor. I had some trouble going up and down stairs.
- 5/5
We have stayed at the Queen Anne many times as it is a beautiful, historical property with comfortable rooms, Japantown nearby, Lafayette Park nearby, a lovely afternoon reception, and breakfast. We love it!
- 5/5
relaxing friendly staff clean and very interesting decor
- 5/5
This is a unique place to stay. The room was super comfortable and quiet! We loved the extras included. We signed up for a driver to take us to a tourist spot. It was included in our stay along with tea and sherry in the afternoon! The old place reminded us of the guided ages.
- 5/5
This is a unique Bed & Breakfast. It is an older property and furnishings are very Victorian. Full breakfast served daily from 7:30 to 9:30 and coffee, tea and lemon water always available in the lobby, a big plus. 24/7 desk with helpful, friendly staff. Ideal for this quirky solo traveler.
- 5/5
Loved it. Inexpensive parking. Quirky hotel with a unique history. Comfy beds. Perfect
- 4/5
Older hotel so don't expect a fridge or microwave, but still a decent little getaway from the day to day
- 5/5
The Queen is a time capsule! We loved everything about the hotel and our stay, we stayed an extra night! Thank you to the staff for making our stay in the city extra special!
- 5/5
Loved the unique bedrooms and decor
- 5/5
It was fantastic. Such a beautiful hotel. The people were so helpful and nice.
- 5/5
My wife and I always stay here when we visit san francisco. Its a beautiful hotel in a great part of town. We are excited every time we stay here. Definitely will be back.
- 5/5
My favourite place to stay in San Francisco. Quiet spot of a cute neighbourhood and close to public transport and great dinning. The staff are friendly and open to accomodating of an early check in or late check out if possible. This is always greatly appreciated as an international traveller. Would highly recommend this hotel
- 2/5
I told the hotel at check in that I would be leaving One day early. Neither the Hotel nor Expedia are giving me a refund for the night I did not use. Will not be using Expedia again.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed staying at the Queen Anne. The building has interesting history, and the interior is beautiful and fascinating to see. The lobby is large, welcoming, and very comfortable. The people who work here are very friendly and helpful, and our rooms were amazing, especially for the price. We went to a show at the Fillmore, which is a short walk away, and we spent the next day in Japantown, which is even closer. There is a lovely park up the hill from the hotel also, and lots of beautiful homes in the area. Great, safe neighborhood for walking. We will definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
The lobby and overall look was charming. Reception was mixed. Breakfast average. My room was run down. Shower didn’t work and overall place looked old.
- 5/5
- 5/5
The place was nice, the sherry/tea and cookies in the afternoon was great touch. Super welcoming l!
- 5/5
We love the Queen Anne! Beautiful victorian with the beautiful theme alive throughout the hotel. Comfy Kings and adore the fireplaces in the rooms!
- 5/5
Great hotel very charming!
- 5/5
Everything was great. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good and afternoon sherry and cookies is a nice touch. The large sitting room off the lobby is very comfortable and charming. Our too. Was very quiet and the front desk staff went out of their way to call me when I left a bag out front.
- 5/5
Very cute victorian hotel. Many of the fixtures seem as old as the hotel, but this is what gives it character. The rugs are old, but look original. If you are expecting modern amenities, this is not for you, but if you are looking for a hotel with character, true victorian decor, beautiful lobby, friendly staff, and afternoon tea and sherry, this is great!. Easy access to many areas of the city and also safe and relatively quiet.
- 3/5
“Bed and breakfast” attributes (ex: breakfast, round the clock coffee and water and late afternoon cookies and brandy) in a welcoming living room setting were nice additions. Japan town neighborhood is nice with good restaurants. Beds were good.
- 4/5
Cannot beat the ambience. Staff members were very friendly. Decor absolutely lovely. It shows its age in other ways. Would not recommend using the pullout couch as second bed. Breakfast was typical hotel breakfast fair instead of bed and breakfast but not offensive. Would stay again.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
I had a stellar time in SF and this hotel played a great role! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the location in Japantown and walking distance to Pacific Heights and the Marina, this is the perfect hotel for a solo traveller. The area is very calm and safe and the hotel amenities aren't lacking of anything. Finally the Victorian decor as well as the stunning living room let's you travel within your imagination of what SF was in those times.
- 5/5
Very good
- 5/5
We had a great stay
- 5/5
This was our first time as a couple in San Francisco and we researched many hotels to find just the right accommodations for two nights. We wanted it to be memorable. This was exactly the place for us! From the well appointed decor and guest rooms, to the extensive breakfast with cups and saucers and real silverware (not plastic), we were so impressed. We'd recommend this spot to anyone and plan on returning when we return. Perfectly situated in walkable areas to many locations and great, kind staff. This was nearly the best B & B we've ever stayed in!! Wonderful.
- 5/5
Excellent friendly staff. Nice breakfast
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, check in was quick and easy. Room was clean, quiet and full of personality. Will be staying here again. Also loved the history of the place and the overall vibe.
- 5/5
My favorites sf hotel.
- 5/5
It was a wonderful experience to stay in this historic old hotel that was built in 1890. So many interesting old antiques to look at, yet the room was upgraded for modern times (TV, USB ports, good shower). The complimentary breakfast was great.
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel. Great location in Japantown. Incredible Victorian interior design and decor. Great breakfast. Helpful and courteous staff. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
I would come here again. The staff are friendly & very informative about SF. Quite & just gives you that Victorian chills. I loved my stay here!
- 2/5
It was not clean enough, the staff at the restaurant couldn’t speak English, and the breakfast had very limited variety.
- 5/5
The Queen Anne is a gem! The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. I arrived ahead of checkin time and my room wasn’t available yet, but they upgraded me to a different room type. I loved the historic charm of the hotel and had all the amenities I needed. The neighborhood feels safe even walking around at night and there are some great restaurants nearby. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
- 4/5
The hotel is beautiful inside especially at Christmas time. We loved the cozy feeling. They had a nice breakfast from 7:00-9:30 and always had water and coffee available in the sitting area. From 4:00-6:00 there were sherry and cookies as a nice treat. The only issue we had was our mattress. The middle was high and the sides sunk in which made for uncomfortable sleeps.
- 5/5
It is a completely unique historic building with Victorianiana in every corner-just beautiful
