Reviews
The Nob Hill Hotel is a recently renovated, boutique hotel with a historic charm and modern amenities. Guests appreciate the clean and comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and convenient location, but some have concerns about the small room size, lack of parking, and old elevator.

not a bad place; great for the price -- free breakfast was pretty bad though

New and Modern Hotel. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. I really did not like the breakfast, it was less than basic. I think improving this aspect will be a game changer in the guest experience. The location of the hotel is good but the fact that it is surrounded by homeless and drug addicts makes it very uncomfortable in the day and almost impossible to go out at night! I would not stay here with children!!!!! The parking aspect is very confusing. When booked it was well advertised that the property included private parking, but it did not mention that you have to pay 58 dollars EXTRA each day. Also the car parking is not in the proximity of the hotel but it is in another place ( no idea where). Very confusing, they should be more clear about this. We only chose this hotel for the car parking and then we ended up finding another, cheaper.

I enjoyed my stay here. Staff was really helpful and price was reasonable enough that valet parking felt included. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. I wouldn't walk around the neighborhood at 2am, but room and hotel felt very safe. Several brunch places nearby. breakfast was basic but good. The breakfast had gluten free bread and the restaurant next door had several clearly marked gluten free options.

Good location for Union Square and getting to the piers. Easy taxi ride to other areas. Room was clean and has everything needed. Breakfast was great - unfussy but just what was needed. Nice little tapas restaurant on site with a bar. Really just one thing - the noise. I was at the front and the street noise was very, very loud. The windows are single pane and in fact, mine was slightly damaged so there was an open channel to the outside. The street was incredibly noisy.
- 4/5
The property has a central location and in a traditional style, the bed was comfortable, breakfast was adequate and staff were friendly. The noise outside throughout the night and early morning , the noise felt like the windows were open it was so loud, we had little sleep in 3 nights.
- 5/5
Everything smelled clean and everyone was friendly. It was nice listening to all the different languages being spoken at breakfast time.
- 4/5
The hotel was clean and well-maintained. Our room faced the road and it was noisy all night. The continental breakfast was alright, but offered little more than yogurt and toast. Valet parking is not offered at night and we had to park at a garage down the street. We paid $45 to park overnight. The hotel is on a steep hill and the roads are busy and narrow. It is pretty scary to drive on if you aren't accustomed to it.

I love the early 1900 structure of the building. And the 60s retro mod that they did for updating the rooms. I felt like the hotel was in a good location whether you were doing fisherman’s wharf or the San Francisco Bridge or court tower. I would stay there again and probably will!

Location The breakfast was bad. Choices of bread, bagel or sweet packaged kolache, wrapped cheddar and cold hard boiled eggs. Coffee machine was broken after the first day we were there of 4 days and the alternative was instant coffee

The property looks cute in general. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was just okay. The rooftop/terrace was so cute Has a funny smell in the bathroom, the rug next to the bed I was really dirty. The a/c pretty much didn’t work and it was hot! It was on and supposedly on 41 Fahrenheit and it was super hot! And it was a weird smell coming from the windows close to the elevator. So many people living on the streets in like 2 blocks down the road.
- 0.5/5
The hotel is 1-star or even half a star if I were to leave a review. The staff is very rude. Moving on. The rooms are very small and extremely cold. The curtains and blankets are of extremely poor quality, dirty, and everything is very bad. I asked for a room with a bathtub for the children, and we were given a shower instead. They told us they didn’t have any rooms with bathtubs, but our friends arrived 10 minutes later and received a room with a bathtub. Their room was also a disaster. Next, breakfast. I strongly recommend from the bottom of my heart to never take breakfast at this hotel. Apart from toast and sour milk with cereal, there was nothing else. The eggs were old and disgusting, just like the staff. A disastrous hotel with no manners or respect! I would never recommend something like this.

Room and area is clean for the most part! The rooms are not soundproof like stated and are connected to other rooms. Our room was connected to another room’s bathroom and we could hear them loud and clear! Sink is tiny so beware water is bound to drip on floor. Shower small but good enough and gets warm fast! I did valet for $58/night with in and outs. Overall an okayish stay. I would only maybe come back.
- 5/5
Really nice place. The room was a little warm but it is an old building.
- 2.5/5
The property in person seems way older and more wore down than compared to the pictures advertised online. The area was okay, we never walked to the hotel late at night. Honestly, the pricing should be lower considering the state of the property and the services provided.
- 3.5/5
The location was ideal. Liked the patio to penthouse. Valet parking, however, was very pricey but definitely worth it. Coffee in the room was subpar as well as coffee in the lobby. I got the penthouse suite with a jetted tub, and the steps to the tub were broken, making it very unsafe. The room was fairly small for how much the room cost. Staff at the front desk wasn't friendly whatsoever.
- 4/5
The staff was great ! My room was clean and in a good location,I would definitely come back to the Nob Hill Hotel if I’m in San Francisco.
- 5/5
It was a pretty nice place to stay at, the staff was nice and helpful, and you also get free breakfast, everything was just a good experience overall
- 4/5
Very spacious room and big bathroom, staff was also friendly. Water wouldn’t turn hot at times, so we’d need to ask a member of staff to fix the issue, which would normally get resolved in about 10/15 mins. Also breakfast could be improved as doesn’t really offer much choose or variety.
- 5/5
Great place! Great location. Nice room.

Very clean & modern with a lot of heritage charm & touches. Fairly close to cable car transport & buses, etc. We would defineately choose Nob Hill Hotel again Loved it all
- 3/5
The restaurant attached to the hotel serves very nice food The window/wall joinery was not closed so our room was very aerated in not a good way. Had to run the heater a lot to keep the room temperature at liveable. Also do not recommend rooms with the "street view". Terrible street noise all night, every night. Be careful when walking the immediate area as there are violence, drug-taking and people trying to mug us so we took ubers from then on to go anywhere

The hotel had a good energy, we instantly felt comfortable and the staff were very helpful The breakfasts could have been a bit more colourful.

Clean room, nice staff, good coffee machine in lobby. Very clasic elevator that makes you feel like you're in SF. Cons: Very small compared to pictures. Noise level was high, as the walls were pretty thin.
- 3/5
The hotel had character and staff were friendly. The room we had was at the front of the hotel and extremely noisy from street noise. This included people and emergency vehicle sirens. The hotel is less than 59 metres from a hospital emergency room.
- 2.5/5
Central location only short drive to fisherman’s Wharf Our room was facing the street so we heard a lot of noise from the street The location is central however homeless people everywhere and streets were dirty in this area Not as bad as some areas but was very surprised There are nicer areas in San Fran however would be more expensive Hotel was fine but didn’t like location

The only reason why we didn’t give it. A five star review was because of the parking situation you have to pay for parking, but other than that everything was good. Rooms are clean, but very small. Staff is very friendly that I will give it a 10. Star. They have free Breakfast and they have a machine where you can get tea and coffee all day.
- 5/5
It’s a good place but you need to take in consideration that rooms are very small tiny rooms and breakfast it’s not continental it’s very limited to.
- 4/5
Nice old hotel with a rooftop patio. Staff excellent and knowledgeable. Very nice restaurant with delicious Mediterranean food. Parking is $60 or more. I parked on street and got hit by a person who hit and run. :( The street sweep there every 3rd day. I had to get up at 545 am to move my car. I got hit parked one block up. Not the hotel's fault. But, the parking charge shpuld be included in the price. Then people will know before they go there.
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable room, in an ideal location, just a short walk from Union Square. Complimentary breakfast was a real bonus, with breads, bagels, cereal, porridge, yogurts, fruit, cheese and boiled eggs to help yourself to. Plus a free coffee machine always available in reception. There was also a coffee maker in the room, but supplies were never replenished during our 3 night stay though. But I’m sure we could have asked for more, we just never did. The room was a little snug with very little room to put the suitcases and there was no shelf in the bathroom for toiletries, we had to put them on the floor or inside the shower cubicle, It was very noisy outside at night, mostly just traffic noise but one night the bins were being emptied at 4am and it went on for over half an hour! So take earplugs if you’re a light sleeper! But the positives of this hotel outweighed the negatives in my opinion, so I would stay here again
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 4/5
Good spot Room very small
- 1.5/5
The only positive was the helpful staff and the location. The room was extremely small and very noisy, we could hear everything from the street and couldn’t sleep at all. Because of this, we were moved to another room, but we were told the first one was supposedly the quietest, which was quite surprising. The second room was a decent size, but it had a connecting door to the neighboring room, so we could hear everything just as clearly. It was a terrible night. At breakfast, the cheese was moldy. Overall, the breakfast was very poor and definitely not “continental” as advertised. This hotel wouldn’t even qualify as a 3-star in Europe. The staff were helpful, although they didn’t speak much English. The location is not bad, but we would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable stay or a relaxing vacation. By far, this was the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in, and we travel a lot and don’t have high expectations.

No air conditioning and the noise from the street is pretty loud. The bed wasn’t bad, but not the best either. Overall it was an ok stay. I expected more considering they said the recently renovated it. The room was also very small.
- 2.5/5
The staff were very helpful. Although quite central, it was still quite a walk to everywhere. The rooms were really too small for 4 people. Although there were 2 double beds, the room was too small and there was nowhere to put bags. 1 bed was beside windows which opened wide which are a health and safety risk! It is not near a bus stop. The breakfast was quite basic and we didn't like the waste created by disposable plates and utensils. The shower took 10 minutes to warm up and the shower door leaked do that the bathroom floor got quite wet. The roof fan was noisy so we didn't use it.
- 3/5
Staff generally helpful Breakfast was as expected. Proximity to places of interest was good Location very close / within an undesirable area with a large numbers of homeless on the street, heavy drug use and refuse around, very noisy, (road, people, police sirens) and prostitution prominent Rooms very very small and dated with virtually no storage
- 5/5
The hot coffee and chocolate access 24/7 was the best part. Room was very clean.
- 3/5
The location and San Francisco look & feel Breakfast was below expected
- 2.5/5
It’s very loud The fire alarm went off around 9am twice
- 5/5
Room was decent size and very clean. Quiet and felt safe in the area.
- 2/5
Very noisy. From plumbing noises to housekeeping staff loudly talking to each other from opposite ends of the corridor, to loud guests, and yelling from outside, it was way too noisy. We could also hear the guests walking above our room. Breakfast was very sparse, mostly breads, bagels, a few danish pastries and some hard boiled eggs. We chose to breakfast elsewhere. The bed side lamp did not work. There was only 1 electrical outlet in the room, which made charging our devices a challenge. The bathroom had a small pedestal sink with no place to put toiletries. Twice, the elevator did not seem to work so we had to take the stairs. There was no safe to store valuables.
- 4/5
The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable. We also appreciated that breakfast was included, which was a nice bonus. Before check-in, it was a little difficult to get in touch with staff, but once we arrived, everything went smoothly. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. We initially couldn’t find an iron in the room, but the staff quickly found one for us. We also needed a remote, which was brought up the next day. They were attentive and made sure our needs were taken care of. The surrounding area on the street next door felt a little concerning, but the actual block the hotel is on felt fine. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider coming back.

Lots of character, breakfast, the penthouses had a balcony. Loved the location Single small elevator
- 5/5
The hotel was surprisingly in the good condition. Rooms were clean staff was friendly. Some things to consider, NO AC, and it can be a bit noisy at times since your on a semi busy st that’s near a hospital.
- 4/5
It was clean and a good location as a first timer in San Fran. AC didn’t work they only had a fan
- 4.5/5
Being near a hospital, there were sirens throughout the night
- 5/5
Old style small SF hotel. Staff and accommodations are perfect, with a close by coffee shop and wonderful lobby restaurant. didn't get a chance to check out the roof top terrace! If you like staying in a neighborhood with real people, this is for you.
- 3.5/5
i didn’t like the area it was in. was a little dangerous so we didn’t feel comfortable parking the car somewhere and walking with our luggage so we had to pay the hotel 60 dollars to valet our car and when we wanted to leave in the morning at 7 the valet hadn’t opened yet so we had to wait.
- 3.5/5
Fantastic staff, helpful with valeting my car, and wonderful complimentary coffee in lobby was a plus. The near by streets were covered in trash, vomit and human feces. It is not the hotels fault of course, the unhoused folks make it really difficult to enjoy certain parts of the city.

- 5/5
Comfy and clean - excellent staff
- 1/5
Not in a safe part of town.
- 3/5
Room was ok, not many charging points for devices, laminate flooring coming apart which was somewhat dangerous for your feet. Area is a bit rough with homeless people on a night. Make service not the best, had one day without shower gel and no coffees for the in room maker. Asked at reception, was provided with a small bar of soap and 1 coffee pod, when there were 2 of us as he couldn’t get any more.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly room was clean.Had a good selection for breakfast and even valet park and at a fair price
- 3.5/5
The rooms facing interior of the building are great and not noisy. The staff is extremely helpful and willing to accommodate. On my first night I was placed in a second floor room facing the street. The noise was impossible. I requested moving to another room but the hotel was fully booked because of a conference. They however agreed to move me the following day and they did to a very nice interior room. If you are used to city noises for sleeping you will be fine but it you are not, definitely request a room that doesn't face the street.
- 2/5
not much Hotel is old and looks like the painted over everything. Bathroom shower was not good. shower fixture fell off in my hand, water pressue bad and neighborhood has alot of homeless and drug abusers on the streets
- 5/5
Smells clean when you first walk in, clean, parking was confusing initially but all the staff were helpful. Great service, coffee machine and ice water available in the lobby which was helpful.
- 5/5
The staff was nice, the room was clean. I really liked the aroma that permeated the entire hotel. The location is excellent.
- 3.5/5
The property is cute. Decent room size. Location is good. Light breakfast is served. These are the items that need improvement, particularly in our room. The fan needs to be repaired, as it is making noise. The water pressure in the shower should also be improved. It would be helpful to install hooks in the bathroom for hanging towels, clothes, or toiletry bags—adding a few hooks would make a big difference. If the hotel plans to renovate the bathroom, please consider replacing the countertop with a wider one so guests have enough space to place their toiletries, as there is currently very limited room.
- 5/5
Great room love the 6th floor balcony. Close to many restaurants and cafe’s.
- 3/5
my stay here was subpar. staff weren’t overtly friendly or helpful. would’ve been nice to have some help, or at least offer to help, with bags coming in and out of that elevator (heavy door with heavy accordion screen, very difficult with full hands and bags). valet doesn’t assist with bags either. the room itself was okay. there was a functioning wall fan but the ceiling fan wouldn’t work, would’ve been nice to have some extra circulation. biggest complaint is no outlets near the bed or table! i had to pull out the dresser which fortunately had an extender but i had to rearrange the whole room just so i could plug in my laptop and do some work. very inconvenient. only redeeming quality was the location. that said, i wouldn’t stay here again.
- 5/5
Great stay - comfortable rooms and friendly staff
- 5/5
Came in for a solo trip. Originally was on the second floor. The room charming, a few things that stood out. One of the windows (smaller one) didn’t lock completely. The bathroom drain was a bit dirty. The second day in my trip, water was dripping from the bathroom ceiling. Front desk was able to switch me very quickly on a busy, busy morning. I was moved to the 5th floor. Same sq footage. But much cleaner, windows locked completely, and there was a fire escape outside. I was able to chill out there for sunsets and sunrise. It was very pleasant. They provide complementary breakfast till 10am and complementary water, coffee, tea, and hot cocoas throughout the day. They kept it fully stocked. There’s an upstairs patio that’s surrounded by fences. They also had a mini gym. Overall great humble staffs. Will go again.
- 3/5
The hotel provides the basics. The neighborhood to the south of the property is rough.
- 5/5
Great property, friendly helpful staff at a good price. Rooms were clean. This hotel is on the cusp of the Tenderloin in the heart of the city, so it's not going to be for everyone but I thought it was perfect.
- 2/5
Shower did not work correctly. Sink in bathroom didn’t drain since I pushed down the stopper once and couldn’t get it to open again. Refrigerator made a loud weird noise I had to turn it off. I never had issues like this in the previous times I stayed at Nob Hill Hotel and in fairness, I didn’t inform them of any of these issues because I wasn’t in the room that much while I was there and didn’t want to deal with it. I do think this hotel is a good option for a lower cost alternative even though this visit had issues.

Great stay, staff was kind and everything was clean. Only thing that was semi-negative was that the heating wasn’t super strong, we had to crank it up to 95f to feel warm but overall we were comfortable and safe and happy. Would definitely return!

The biggest issue we faced was the power constantly going out in our room. We had to call the front desk each time so staff could reset the breaker. Being in San Francisco, it was cold, and during each outage we were left without heat or lights. This happened multiple times throughout our stay. It was especially stressful for my two daughters (ages 8 and 10). On one occasion, the power went out while one of them was showering, which frightened her and caused both of them to panic. My other daughter nearly hurt herself running and jumping onto the bed in fear. Unfortunately, this made our stay uncomfortable and unsettling. I hope the hotel addresses these electrical issues so future guests don’t go through the same experience.

I tried to get valet parking, but the valet took so long to come that I ended up going in parking my car myself. The parking garage was two blocks away, which was not too bad except that they told me Parking would be $25 if I paid myself but turns out that Parking was actually $45 since I left the car overnigh. Check-in was relatively easy and that was just about the only good thing about this stay. The Room was HOT. And it was not a hot day. I turned on the fan and then was not able to turn off the fan light so I could have it on at night. There was a small AC in the room, but it did not work and since I couldn’t have the fan on without having the light on, it was so hot and stuffy. The sink in the bathroom was so small. It felt like it was a birdbath more than a sink. When I washed my face the water went all over the floor when I took a shower. It felt like the bathtub floor was going to cave in the carpet was disgusting and the bed was very uncomfortable. needless to say, I will not be coming back and staying here again.

The staff was very courteous and friendly. But because our room was on the street side it was incredibly loud all night. And the room was very small.. The toilet was like 14 inches from the bed. It would have been nice if they asked if street side was okay, but it is what it is.

The downside was our room had not accessible outlets. The only exposed outlet to charge our phone was in the bathroom. There was a wireless charger in the room connected to the clock, but even then it was sufficient to charge our phones. Please do your research when it comes to parking. I failed on my part by not doing it (which silly me, it’s San Francisco). The hotel offers valet services, but it was so expensive and the cost varied based on your car being an SUV or a sedan. In addition, valet services end at 10PM. We were driving around trying to find parking and it was not a good time. I hope this helps for those looking to stay in SF.

We stayed in room 101, was very very cold and the bathroom wasn’t great, also a little noisy with staff coming and going and residents above. Walking to the room felt like a back staff room and not a guest area. Breakfast was nice and lots of variety but was really let down by paper plates and cutlery.

The room was overall clean, and the staff were friendly. My only complaint is that there’s no air conditioning, but the windows open and allow in a nice fresh breeze. Additionally, the rooms come equipped with a refrigerator, which is a plus. Lastly, parking costs $68 per night, so be mindful of that additional expense. However, this is fairly typical for San Francisco, where parking is limited throughout the city.

This hotel proved to be an incredibly uncomfortable and unhappy place to stay. The provided breakfast was only cereal, fruit, and pastries. The advertised restaurant connected to the hotel was basic and overpriced. The valet parking was inconvenient--we had to regularly leave the car in the middle of a busy street because the curb parking was full. The old-fashioned elevator required us to pull open a door and slide the metal door to get in, which made transporting luggage very difficult. The sink in our room collapsed while we were using it, likely from a combination of its age and the water that would drip from every wall when the shower was on. Despite the sink falling clean off the wall from faulty installation or overlooked signs of age, the hotel took our deposit. The shower took some time to heat up and the knob for adjusting the temperature (in both rooms) was loose and fell to the extremely hot or cool side with the smallest tap. Overall, the price was appealing and the hotel's architecture was charming, but we would not stay here again. It ended up being a stressful, uncomfortable stay.

Additionally, while parking is advertised, be aware that not only is it valet and not onsite (but I had no safety concerns regardless), there was a time limit imposed as well. We could not drop our car off later than 10pm (which was not an issue), however we were told we could not claim our car until 8am. Fine for many to be sure, but our travel plans required us to be checked out and on the road before then. So we ended up having to pay for a different parking garage nearby in order to have access to our vehicle at our convenience. Which was fine, same price, just about 3 blocks away; however not everyone might be comfortable with that set up, and I wanted to bring awareness as I don’t recall reading anywhere that the parking offered by this hotel had time limits. So just FYI. If you have no parking constraint dilemma, this place is pretty fantastic and I do recommend.

The one broken down luggage cart did not fit in the very ancient elevator. The ancient elevator took upwards of 10 to 15 minutes to arrive when called. The shower was moldy. There wasn't any type of shelf for toiletries. The led light used to light the hed head bord was broken and flashed like a crazy strobe light. Vallet setvice was very inconsistent. There was no plan on place to deal with street access when outside work was being done. We had to wait 30 minutes for our car when checking out. At which point they asked if we could walk a block up hill over to the garage that housed our car. We had numerous bags so i saud absolutely not. I mean what were we paying vallet service for if no one actually brought us our car. They eventually figured out how to get our car within 15 feet of the hotel. The front desk attendant did help us with loading our bags. All in all a horrible place to stay. I was extremely disappointed because their advertisement and reviews seemed positive. I will never stay there again.

Checked in and out same day unfortunately. No valet or room service as started on website. Parking is 10 mins away which is a bit scary at night. Room service for this hotel is to clean your room not provide food service. Room was freezing and option was to bring a portable heater. Unless you are looking for a bed only to sleep, don’t recommend for a mini vacay or work travel. I still paid for the night

I reserved one of the penthouse room because I saw that it had outdoor space, but when I got there it was not private outdoor space. I was told I had a fridge with a small freezer but it did not have a freezer. I saw there was a whirlpool in the room and I brought some bath items and the whirlpool didn’t work. It seems one thing after another I was disappointed about. Maybe next time it will be better.

Our experience was okay. I had booked a double twin bed room in advance, but when we arrived, we were informed that the hotel was fully booked and there were no available rooms during the time. As a result, they sent us to another hotel to accommodate during the time to wait for our room to be available, which was inconvenient given that we had luggage to carry and were exhausted from our planned commute. I wish I knew in advance we wouldn’t experience that.

Location: The hotel is two streets down from California St. So from the hotel, you can walk north along Hyde st and discover some beautiful bars and eateries at the top of the hill. South, do not go south. You may look down the hill and think its a good idea, but its Tenderloin. Staff: Very nice and friendly. Quick to help and return your room deposit Free Breakfast: Its toasted bread with spreads and fruit. There is oatmeal but no warm milk. HELLO??? Amenities: Very nice, gym is very basic Room: Room is nice, view is so so. Shower is nice and they actually have a robe. Privacy: Well, this is not like being in a hotel. Its more like being at a home again and sharing a room with my sibling. Now don't get me wrong, I didn't actually have someone in my room, but the connecting door left all the bodily sounds come into my room. Along with the smells of what they had for dinner and after dinner. I'm happy they my "Brother" went to sleep at 1am with TV on and wasn't partying all night. So if you like survival shows, then this could be your jam. LOL

I had a great stay at the Nob Hill Hotel in San Francisco. The hotel was clean, and the staff was exceptionally friendly, even surprising me with a free upgrade. My bed was very comfortable, ensuring a good night's rest. The hotel itself has a charming historical feel, which adds to the overall experience. If you're looking for a cozy stay with great service in a classic setting, this is a solid choice!

Pretty decent little spot, modest and clean. Only part I didn’t take into account was booking a room with a desk, which my room did not have. Plus side the room had a ceiling fan which you don’t find in more modern hotels. Friendly staff.

Building is clean, nice lobby andna rooftop area to sit down. No bar/ restaurant up there though. Hotel room is clean, but very cold design wise. Shower has soap, conditioner and shampoo in the shower installed, but no lotion. Room was cold, no Ac/heating. They provide a space heater which takes quite a while to heat up the room
- 4/5
The walls are really too thin, and you can hear everything from the room by your side.
- 5/5
I saved $300 by staying here instead of my normal place. Yes, they are Tenderloin adjacent but you can work around that. My room and bed were good and the TV was good and worked great. The front desk staff was fine. This hotel is a good choice if you are looking to keep costs down.

Lo único que tengo que decir es que el ruido exterior de la ciudad se escucha bastante en el cuarto, pero solo eso. Entiendo es una zona bastante céntrica.

I was very pleased with my stay we I was very fortunate to get an upgrade and everything about it was perfect!!! I will book here again!!!!!
- 4/5
The hotel is an old boutique property with a renovated lobby. The elevator is sketchy, the rooms have had a lipstick renovation, but the rooms get humid and then the walls get sticky and the moisture runs down the walls. Also, there’s no heat, just a space heater you can plug in to circulate the air. Our room faced the back alley so it was quiet. Front desk folks don’t really do much other than check you in and take your money. They don’t have complimentary umbrellas. It poured down rain sideways one day we were there. Overall though, we didn’t mind the hotel. Beds were comfy. Water was hot, but the location is not central to anything. It’s a 10 - 15 minute brisk walk to the trolleys which can take you directly to fisherman’s wharf. From there, you’re within walking distance to pretty much everything you need. If you’re looking for a decent hotel, and you don’t need a concierge to help you book anything, and you don’t mind walking, this place will do the trick.

Nob Hill Hotel is an amazing place to stay in. The staff was very kind, helpful and it was easy to check in and check out. There was a complementary lemon water which tasted delicious and refreshing. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I recommend anyone who wants to visit San Francisco to stay at Nob Hill Hotel. Amazing place, people and service, additionally it has quite nice coffee shops around the place.

When I booked the room, it states 190 square feet. But actually the room is so small that I think it’s only 100 square feet.
- 5/5
amazing
- 3/5
there was a mouse in our room, which was the king garden suite (the garden suite didn’t have a garden, but a patio surrounded by barbed wire and a flood light that blinded you if you wanted to step outside at night). when we alerted the front desk about the mouse that had found its way into my suitcase, we were temporarily moved into a queen room, but still charged that night for the king suite. won’t be staying again. extremely falsely advertised.
- 4/5
Overall the stay was great. Cute, historic hotel. Room was tiny, as in there would have been no place to lie down a full-sized suitcase. It was fine for us, but may not be for many people. Comfy bed, nice hot shower water. Cleaning people use a bit too much product-there is a strong scent of cleaning product. The one category which could use significant improvement is customer service. When I arrived to check in there was a couple at the desk having some issue which was taking quite a long time. I lrobably stood there 10 min wo even being acknowledged. Basic hospitality. I requested late checkout as I am working overnight shifts at the hospital across the street and wanted to sleep a bit before check-out. The feont desk attendant acted as if it were an odd request and hesitantly said I could stay until noon. There should be a standard policy here.

No parking on-site. Public parking is more than 1 mile away. Then you have to walk back to the hotel or take an uber.

The room was quiet, clean and simple. The hotel staff sent a pre-check in text that encouraged one to text with questions. I text messaged them about parking and got no response. Check in was fast. Common areas were not as clean as the room, but not off-putting. All in all, it was a pleasant stay.

Thank you for the lovely stay!!

Staff barely looked up from their phones to acknowledge your existence. ‘Garden View’ was a view of a fence with barbed wire. Door to my room didn’t always automatically lock, there was no cleaning unless asked and pretty sure the room should be checked for mold.

Economical, hip and , eclectic! Staff is always really friendly. Great location. Highly recommend!

We come back to this hotel every time we stay in the city. Great place to stay. Clean and cute

The hotel itself was amazing, great updated rooms and whatnot. Really cool rooftop patio! However, the smoking pole/area right by the front door causes one to smell nothing but cigarettes when entering or exiting the building regardless if someone was actually there smoking. Just contrasts the image the hotel is striving for.

Not enough charging ports. And no hot water

Charming Edwardian building, small but nice room with fun art and lighting, waffle-weave bathrobes, good value, safe neighborhood near the excellent Sutter-Butterick Garage where you can ditch your car for $45 for 24 hours. Half a block from the fabulous Crostini and Jam café—terrific light breakfast. I heard there is a roof terrace on the 6th floor, but didn't have a change to check it out. Maybe next time: this is one of my go-to hotels in SF because of the value/charm quotient.

This was a quaint little hotel. We enjoyed our stay there. It was clean and the rooftop patio was a nice place to sit.

Generally good hotel with helpful, friendly staff and in a good location. Rooms are very nice and look good on first impressions, but on closer inspection room could have done with a little TLC.

Was nice having a bar by the pool. $20 Margarita though in a little plastic cup.

Wish I knew better to ask for a quiet room. Who would expect trash pickup at 5:45 AM on Saturday morning and again at 6:15AM on Sunday morning. There was also a dispatch on the street for a fire late at night. The hotel was charming and clean. It was a plus that they offered a discount for parking and nearby places to eat. Trader Joe's is 2 blocks away. They also offer a secure storage for your luggage if you arrive before check in. The only other issue is the old elevator which is difficult to call at times.

Great location. Quite and safe. 24 hr desk was wonderful. Everything was extra clean and newly renovated. Beautiful and comfortable boutique style hotel. The price can't be beat. We will definitely be returning.

Solid hotel

Very small room, no area to put your clothes and very noisy street the hotel is on. Heard a lot of police cars or ambulances since the hospital was across the street

Its by a fire station but that didn't bother me as much once I put the tv on. I enjoyed staying at the hotel. It was a very clean, nice room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The area is very bad! Someone else's review the fan doesn't work. That was true. Someone said about poop on the street and was very true. People didn't pick up after their dogs. There were alot of homeless people to walk by. The area had lots of drug and prostitution activity.
