Location is the best part of this hotel. It's a historic hotel and it feels it. The lobby is large and quaint with a large TV and lots of seating. There's a small bar in the back but was not open due to staffing issues. Our room was furnished comfortably with a large closet. The bed and linens were fine. The bathroom was small but the shower was strong. There was no air conditioning and the room was next to some large fans on top of the building next door so it was very loud when the windows were open. The staff were all very nice and helpful. Fresh pastries and coffee in the morning was a plus!
- 5/5
the rooms were so cleaned and fresh towels and bedding was changed daily. the staff were very friendly. would recommend staying here

Great location. Close to BART and variety of restaurants. Helpful staff.

I would happily come back and stay again! Fr. Tom Anchorage, Alaska

An old hotel with very small rooms, but it was great for our need, a place to stay one night in the city. The bed and bathroom were clean and upgraded. We were VERY disappointed the bar was closed when they advertised it being open.
- 5/5
there was not a real breakfast
- 5/5
Clean room, good location. Staff was helpful and helped us get an early check in. Parking lot available across the street. No air conditioning but fan worked fine.

Staff was outstanding. Quiet quaint and adorable spot

Staff was very nice, parking was right across the street

Great Location
- 5/5
Even though the room had no view, it was overlooking a tin roof covered with laundry lint, the room itself was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Both it and the bathroom were spotless. As I mentioned, the room had no view, but that was not a problem for us. In a built up city block, a view is not always possible. Everything else was great and we enjoyed our stay.

Coffee in the morning, bed, pillows, shower

Quaint aesthetic -The spiral staircase was fun to walk down, and the LOCATION is GREAT! Close to BART, around the corner from UNION SQUARE. Nice to have tea and lemon poppyseed cake in the morning. tiny double beds were not ideal for sharing a room with your friends, but it was fine.
- 5/5
The room was small, but perfect for us! It was a clean room with full size shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. The bed and pillows were the softest and most comfortable I have had from a hotel. We loved how it was close and walking distance to a lot of things downtown. The breakfast pastries were awesome and there was always a selection, as well as a fruit offered. Would stay here again!

King George is everything you want in a boutique hotel, and it's clearly well-loved and well-cared for by the staff. It's an old building full of charm and stories tucked in a fantastic downtown location. The windows are small and the ceilings a bit low, but everything that matters is top-notch. Gracious and responsive staff that seem to love their role as your hosts. Fluffy towels, modern luxe bedding, solid HVAC, high-end bath products, expansive and welcoming lobby. And when I tell you this hotel is clean... it's a kind of clean that is nearly impossible to find outside an operating room. Top of the mirror, back of the TV, edge of the baseboards... you CANNOT find dust. The bathroom tiles and fixtures gleam white and everything soft - including the carpet - smells fresh. For a memorable and welcoming home base to partake in San Francisco's incredible variety, you can't go wrong with the King George. It's royally good.
- 5/5
Clean and well maintained. However no air conditioning in the rooms. Good selection of muffins and crossiants and coffee in the morning that they charge $15 per day for.
- 4/5
Overall, good location but its a very old property. Rooms should be little upgraded like change carpets, upgrade bathrooms etc. otherwise it looks like you are staying in 1980’s. $15 per room and you get coffee/tea in the morning along with pastries which is not a bad deal for early morning hours.
- 4/5
Noisy and little sound insulation against the street noise

- 2/5
Superior rooms are very small and are falsely advertised. Very uncomfortable stay and the front desk staff is terrible.
- 2/5
Cool room. Needed a hot shower after flight, nope no hot water. Called desk they just said it happens. Waste of $120. Will not stay here ever again.
- 4/5
Friendly staff Nice free breakfast
- 3/5
Now the room: the size, shape, and layout were fine. Small, workmanlike, fluffy bed, and okay at first glance. The bathroom had been redone and looked new, which made the black mold under and around the soap dish, and behind the mounted shampoos, even more noticeable. The carpet in the bedroom gave me the creeps: cigarette burns, stains, and just not good. The window had some sort of jimmied lock on it — really, like rigged, but badly. And the window itself looked like it could have looked out at Jerry and Janis, it was that old. My view was a rooftop, which was fine, but the brick around the walls was peeling, and I really wondered about lead or asbestos. Not good. Once I was out in the hallway, or through the lobby and back out enjoying San Francisco, all was good. But the room, furniture, and molding were dingy and made me itchy.
- 4/5
Staff was very pleasant and hotel was clean.

Great Location
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay at the King George the staff was superb and the bed was very comfortable. The room was small but adequate for two. Small remodeled clean bathroom. The drawback to this hotel is the walls are paper thin. The elevator and hallways are a bit weathered. However, I will still stay here again in the hopes I don’t get noisy neighbors. Really everything else met our expectations. Centrally located and nice overall vibe!

Definitely a place to stay when in town. Parking was easily accessible across the street, weekends or evenings were tought ti find a spot at the garage but we were very lucky to get the last spot. Walking in to get checked in was a breeze and nice, great staff. Our room was nice, perfect size, great linens, and bed. We slept great as the hotel is quiet throughout the night and day. We woke up to get coffee and pastries which were so good!!! We went sightseeing after our coffee break and it was nice that we were able to leave our bags instead of leaving them in the car. Overall definitely and awesome experience. Great location!!!!
- 5/5
The room was a little cramped with the king bed. The hotel was in good condition. Vintage vibe, but a few rough edges. Overall happy with the stay. I'd stay there again. Was in town for a business event for one night.
- 4/5
Always a pleasure staying here
- 5/5
Everything was better than expected. They do not have air-conditioning and rely upon a fan, but it’s not really hot in San Francisco this time of year so I don’t know if that would’ve been an issue at any other time. It was not an issue when I was there.
- 4/5
The queen bed had rather over-plush pillows & mattress - not the best for anyone who prefers medium firm, but that’s quite personal. The toilet & shower were good but housekeeping needed a written note to remind them to refill the empty toiletry dispensers. Afterwards, the bath gel & shampoo smelt suspiciously similar! The property is clean but so called Brit inspired decor felt rather dated. The complimentary breakfast bar was nothing but self service watery coffee and cold pastries. Must be worse in colder months. Putting the baked goods into a warming case would be an easy fix. After the first day, I preferred to walk down to the many nice cafes closeby and pay for a real coffee & hot breakfast bagel instead. Location was convenient, being walkable to Union Square and many restaurants & shops in the neighborhood. Bus, tram and BART trains were all easily accessed. As a solo woman traveler, I managed my safety by not staying out too late. But this place essentially borders the infamous Tenderloin, so the many unhoused and shifty characters on the streets are rather unsettling. Big shout out to the multi lingual Mr Mohammed at Reception. He was so kind and attentive, and he extended small courtesies with the practiced hand of one experienced in the service industry. It was such a pleasure to interact with him and he made my stay so much more enjoyable. Thank you!
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Great location. Pastries, coffee and tea in the morning. My only concern, the business next door had a pretty loud HVAC situation. Keeping the bathroom window closed helped but not enough. I would stay again but will request a from on the other side.
- 4/5
Overall, we were pleased with the actual hotel. Checking in was very easy, and the room was nice. We were in town for the weekend for a convention and really just needed it for sleeping. It was one of the cheaper hotels near the convention, so I was happy to have stumbled upon it. The only complaint was the noise outside. I've stayed in many cities with all sorts of noises and sirens passing throughout the day. It must be the windows. We could hear EVERYTHING. Every conversation, every car passing, every sound! The scaffolding outside our window had something banging on it all night. Someone was screaming and coughing in the alley way next to our window. There was also some kind of construction going on at 2am. I didn't sleep at all. The building is old, but the windows need to be replaced. You won't get any sleep here if they don't.
- 4/5
Par contre il n'y avait pas d'eau chaude dans la douche ce matin.
- 4/5
The hotel's location and price were quite good. I think it could benefit from a bit more maintenance. I had to move rooms because the overhead light could not be turned off but the hotel staffer was quite responsive and helped me move into another room that worked well. I would stay in this hotel again.
- 5/5
Very kind and helpful staff, conveniently located to parking deck with reasonable pricing, and a great location for exploring Union Square and beyond.
- 5/5
Nice place, mainly just needed a cost efficient room as we went to a SF Giants game. Public parking literally across the street. Really easy check in and check out. We even lucked out with an early check in. I would easily stay here again.
- 5/5
Great lobby and location.
- 4/5
Everything was great! Loved the architecture of the building and the design of the room. My room was so clean and it smelled good as you walked in. Their elevator was out of service though. Hopefully it was just a temporary thing. The staff offered me a room on the second floor. Would definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Well priced clean hotel with good accessibility
- 3/5
Okay property in a busy area.
- 4/5
The hotel srtaff was amazing and the place was clean. I was on an upper floor (8th) and was very pleased at the quiet. the ONLY BAD THING...the elevator was down for two days and the stairs are very narrow ad hard to deal with walking uo and luggage.
- 3/5
No air-conditioning
- 4/5
Good location. Staff were wonderful
- 2/5
Clean room. Elevator didn't work. No hot water first night
- 5/5
Staff was amazing we were able to drop our bags off early since it was raining they actually checked us in four hours early it was just amazing when we left we had some exploring still to do before we actually had to leave sf so they allowed us to put used their luggage locker and kept our items safe until we actually had to leave sf.
- 3/5
Love the place but 3 out 4 times here the elevator was broken. I think I’m finally quitting the place
- 4/5
The elevator was broken for most of my stay and I was on the ninth floor. They were kind enough to shave some of my bill - props to the desk guy - but I would have preferred a working elevator.
- 3/5
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everyone we talked to or dealt with were very welcoming and wonderful. The property is obviously very old so you can look at it as character, and I think they did the best they could with the rooms. They don't fill the lotion, soap dispensers. Ours were empty. But I think the thing that was a bit unfortunate was the decor in the lobby does not look like it is in the pictures, the bar was not open because they said they didn't have the staffing. All the chairs were broken or extremely worn. We had a lot of time to kill before having to leave for our flight and it would have been nice to be able to have the games, bar and amenities they promote available to play and fill time with. The foosball table is one game away from falling apart LOL
- 3/5
Parking across the street was the highlight. The room super small, which is no bi mg deal, but had a musty smell se kept the window open all night which was very noisy. The elevator was broken and the narrow spiral staircase was no fun carrying stuff up or down. Mildew painted over in the bathroom windowsill and frame.
- 5/5
The elevator was not working the next day so I had to use the stairs and since I was staying on the sixth floor it was good exercise. I did not mind the workout since I stay in good shape and fitness. I don’t know how often the elevator goes out of service but if you are out of shape, you might reconsider not staying here. The room was very clean and the bed was firm and very comfortable! There was no view from the window but I did not care. Again, I was outside all day. The King George Hotel is now my favorite hotel and I will most definitely be staying there on my next visit to SF!!
- 4/5
Hotel was wonderful. Had that older, nostalgic feel that was cozy and quiet. Very small elevator but more than adequate. Room small, but again very adequate. Beds very comfy. Rooms clean. The bathroom had a sheer curtain that was torn/shredded but other than that, everything was fine.

I only stayed at the King George one night, but the staff there treated me as if I were an old friend. I arrived early and was able to check in without a hassle, and the reception desk offered me my choice of locations. The building is old, but generally well-kept, and my room was very clean and comfortable. There was an in-room coffee maker, safe, other amenities, even a lush terry robe. Overall, I was quite pleased and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel.
- 1/5
Cute hotel, great location. That's about all the good I can say from our experience. We travel throughout the bay regularly for concerts and other live events, so we often need to book a room at a nearby hotel. We're very simple people, we travel light and don't need much in a hotel room. I booked us the "superior room w/ one queen bed". When I think of the word "superior", I think of great, or maybe even above average. This room was the exact opposite. It was so small when we walked into our room, we had to walk into the restroom before being able to close our door. Neither of us could turn around without bumping into a wall. If one of us needed to pass the other, you'd have to sit on the bed to let them pass. It was extremely small in there. Also, we were supposed to have a queen size bed, this was a full size mattress. Needless to say, we did not sleep comfortably. The window lock was also broken, but there was no need to open it as our view was a concrete wall. We found what seemed to be some dried blood on the window curtains. There were no good mirrors to get ready before you go out. And most of the accent lights they had installed did not work. Why not go have a drink downstairs at their bar where you can stretch your limbs a little and chat with other guests? The bar was closed! When we checked out, the hostess seemed bothered that she had to do her job. Its too bad because this place has a lot of potential, but our short stay wont have us coming back
- 5/5
This is a clean, friendly space convenient to Union Square. The front desk efficient and we often run into staff in the hallway who always say hello. The rooms are quiet and comfortable.
- 4/5
Nice place but too much noise in the night from the street
- 5/5
There is no parking. The heater wasn’t working, they let me use a space heater.
- 5/5
The rooms are certainly dated but serve their purpose. It is nice to have a place that lets you open some windows and have a ceiling fan (note there is no central air in the rooms). Would definitely stay here again while visiting “in season”. Winters and the hottest summer days might be a bit much. Staff were unbelievably friendly. Even the room service staff in passing through the halls. Front desk staff were very friendly. I’d stay again just for how warm it felt being here all week. My only reccs would be for central air in the units. It was hard to find the right balance between the fan, window, and time of day. Other than that, no complaints. Will be back again regularly in Spring or Fall when trying to save the company some money. 😄
- 3/5
It took a long time for the hot water to get hot
- 5/5
The room is clean and the bread is very delicious, recommended
- 2/5
The heating system was not working and elevated too small for so many people staying in this place overall it is OK just don’t expect me to come back again

Had an unfortunate experience at a San Fran hostel and needed to find another lodging very fast. Called King George and they were really quick to accommodate us and gave us a nice rate to ease our stress. Great people. Very clean. If i go back to San Fran will be staying there again
- 5/5
The staff were so nice and helpful. The room was clean and perfect for my needs. I appreciated the option to keep my luggage there after check-out until I needed to catch my flight. Just overall a great option in a great location!
- 5/5
The staff were awesome and the rooms were adorable. They're also located beside several different restaurants and cafes, so you'll have your pick of places to eat!
- 4/5
It was in a great location! Rooms very small

Parking garage right across st, friendly staff, clean room with comfortable beds and pillows, nice coffee in lobby, nice added touches
- 5/5
Really cozy and convenient, few minutes away from Powell station, super nice early century vibe, great deal for its affordable price. Nice toiletries — shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion. Coffee and pastry offered from 7-10.
- 5/5
Grear overall experience.
- 4/5
I was a bit confused w the switch for the fan and overhead light, but overall was satisfied w the stat. Good location and fairly quiet.

I would especially recommend the hotel to people attending a conference at the Union Square Hilton Conference Center. The Convention Center is next door. I made use of the lobby in the King George Hotel to discuss projects with colleagues. The people that I met with volunteered that they enjoyed meeting there and that the space was very pleasant. The hotel staff was extremely considerate while we met. The staff overall were remarkably pleasant and helpful. I didn't take note of names, but the gentleman and ladies who are at the front desk in the evenings were especially helpful. I stayed in a twin room that was small. I was provided with a coffee maker and a small refrigerator when I asked. The hotel was constructed in 1914 and has a nice historic feel. I am sure that I enjoyed staying there more than I would have enjoyed staying at the conference hotel, which is just like all conference hotels. The location is both fortunate and unfortunate. It is in the edge of the Tenderloin District, so wandering a block in the wrong direction can be unpleasant; one encounters people who are behaving as if they have severe mental problems or are taking dangerous drugs. Walking toward the Embarcadero or Fisherman's Wharf takes one through beautiful San Francisco neighborhoods. The hotel requires some cosmetic repairs. The elevators walls are worn and some of the buttons don't light when pressed. It is used for both guests and maintenance.

Also, the property advertised as having an in-house bar but during our stay from Thur to Mon night, there was a bartender on Thur night only. No one there rest of the time and FD said 'he didn't come in'. Also, when the bartender was there on Thur night, he closed at 10P; we read that the bar opens until 11P. Some folks arrived at 10:30P, others at 10:45P wanting one drink but everyone left disappointed.
- 4/5
Great stay at the King George. The staff was incredibly warm and helpful. The coffee and bites in the morning were also a treat. I would say my only (very minor) complaint is the $15 daily fee that the hotel charges but that (as far as I had seen) advertised in advance. Not a big problem, but it would have been good to know prior to my arrival.
- 4/5
My AC was leaking water at one point so I shut it off so it would stop. The rooms were clean, though the carpets are super old so there are stains and things, and the corners by the windows are a bit dusty. Not a 5 star clean, but still hygenic and the rooms were cleaned up daily.

No AC! Small rooms. No late check out offered.
- 5/5
The only problem was the hot water.
- 5/5
Super nice staff! Room was clean and the common area had everything one could need! Continental breakfast was really great too! I’ll be back!
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 4/5
We used BART so did not use parking. The bed was very comfortable. Our room was very quiet, and we were not bothered by the usual city noise we have heard in other hotels in San Francisco. We had a problem with the heat in our room. The maintenance person came and fixed it.
- 4/5
No AC, but upon requester they kept a portable heater for the morning cold.
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds are very tall (my wife had a difficult time getting up onto the bed) but it was very comfortable. Room was small but serviceable. Would definitely stay again!
- 4/5
The room was wonderful in appointments however with 🏗️ construction 🏗️ and street performers outside my window is was loud at night until after 11 p.m.. The convenience to public transport and restaurants was superb. As it was cool at night and windows would open the ceiling fan was quiet sufficient. The staff also was fantastic and called me by name at every interaction. ☕ Coffee ☕ was available in the room but not downstairs. I found this profoundly sad. Breakfast was pasties only but a sufficient variety. Because for me the location was optimal I would not hesitate to stay there again and look forward to doing so.
- 4/5
Very friendly staff and the lounge area was fantastic. Only giving 3/5 stars on the Amenities because my in-room coffee machine didn't work, and the coffee/pastries arrived late on my second/last day. Otherwise I plan on staying here again!

The staff was terrific, The building was very old - which was part of it's charm. We felt that the hotel made everything as nice as possible .The linens were top notch. The sheets were soft and comfortable, the towels were plush and the highest quality. Everything was the best. They gave the impression that their guests felt welcomed and cared for. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were perfect! We will stary there again!

Yes - I find it terrribly dishonest to charge an amenity fee. I was comparing three hotels for $---. Sure, the $15 amenity fee was listed deep into the small print - but I didn't see it. Completely unreasonable as a "surprise" requirement! Please, just add
- 5/5
We loved our stay! The hotel is in a great location close to the train station and shopping in the area and restaurants! Great stay we will be back!

Was great for what we needed. An older building on the edge of Union Square. Would stay again for a long weekend. Few amenities but breakfast pastries and coffee were perfect for our start of the day. Clean and friendly.

King George Hotel is a GEM for everyone. We saw couples, singles and families here. Located walking close to everything worth seeing in downtown. The hotel staff is friendly and professional and the rooms are clean and comfy. The area was surprisingly safe, you will definitely see a few colorful people but the hype does not the match reality that the area is a bustling area were please live, shop and work. I will definitely stay with here again A+++++++++++
- 2/5
The hotel itself is very dated, and the rooms feel like they’re made of tissue paper. There’s essentially zero soundproofing—you’ll hear everything, all the time. It honestly feels like trying to sleep on the street. If you’re on the right side of the building, expect construction noise from 7 AM to 4 PM, so forget about sleeping in, napping, or even opening the windows. At night, it doesn’t get any better. There are homeless/drug users in the alley below who show up like clockwork, and the noise continues. On top of that, cars rev by constantly, with horns going off throughout the night. Unless you’re someone who can sleep through anything, this will be a problem, you’ve been warned… Also, there’s no AC in the rooms, so if you’re visiting during the summer, it’s extremely uncomfortable. Was there for 5 nights should have checked out after the first and went somewhere out of the city… The staff were very friendly and polite.

Room does not have AC, only ceiling fan. It was Ok for early spring, but could be problematic for summer.
- 5/5
Excellent location and value for the money. The breakfast is so nice-- fresh pastries, fruit and coffee (even decaf). This was the best deal in town.
- 4/5
Great location. Hotel is old but ok. Staff was nice. Breakfast could be more than just pastries.
- 4/5
Lovely stay. The staff was so friendly and provided excellent suggestions of things to do around town. There was an issue with overbooking and we did not get a king bedroom for 1 of the 2 nights we stayed.
- 4/5
The hotel was conveniently located right where we wanted to be in SF. The only downside was that there is no AC in the King George hotel, only fans and our fan wasn’t on when we checked it. The room was kinda hot even though it’s only late March in SF. However, it was a great deal, especially with Cafe Mason right next door. I’ll most likely stay there again.
- 2/5
I didn’t expect much from this stay, But I was still disappointed. I paid extra for the “deluxe room”. It was a Clean room and the bed was decent…. AC did not work well and the showers water pressure was awful! Toilet was iffy. Definitely needs to be updated to be considered a “deluxe” room. The shower was so bad I couldn’t rinse the shampoo out of my hair (Which was also terrible. I had to go buy some travel size shampoo & conditioner from the corner liquor store.) and the water temperature would not change. They charge you $15 per stay for amenities, such as luggage storage, package handling and coffee and pastries in the morning. (They charge even when We didn’t need any of that, so we decided to go get the coffee and pastries. Donuts were hard and gross). They had cool pool table and games with a bar too, but no bartender…. disappointed to say the least.
- 5/5
The location is excellent and secure parking across the road for $38 for 24 hr. Downstairs is beautiful and a great selection of activities in the bar area. The room is clean and tidy but dated, the bed was so comfy though! Breakfast selection was great and fresh and included in our price. Staff were helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Great location. Excellent staff.
- 2/5
No AC in the rooms, hallways smelled musty, wall paper was torn off the walls, the 15 a day for amenities was a joke. The breakfast was donuts, when asked about cinnamon free options due to a severe allergy was told nothing had cinnamon in it and almost everything did. Asked for a refrigerator to be brought to the room since we were paying for one and was told they were out. The bar was closed in a Friday which was one reason we wanted this stay. We thought it would be fun to have a drink and play shuffleboard. Over all highly disappointed and will never be back.

We really enjoyed our stay! This was a really neat hotel in the Union Square area. We really liked it's antique charm and the staff were friendly and helpful. The check in was quick and painless and the parking garage was close enough to walk without too much hassle. The only thing that was a little bit tough to deal with was that it was really warm in the room and with no air conditioner, it took time for it to cool down. It was also a bity noisy from the street noise at night. Just bring some good earplugs and you'll be alright!

The King George Hotel is an older hotel and is perhaps best described as in the style of an older European pension. Room was exceptionally clean; overall I found the hotel absolutely charming with spacious lobby and bar (open 4p-10p except Thursdays and Fridays); very steep circular steps at front and back; one small elevator. Be advised that deluxe rooms have air conditioning; standard rooms do not. If you want a refrigerator, request it right away as it's not automatic in the room (same with a fan). I was in 809, at the end of the hallway, a charming standard queen, and I happened to be there during an unusually hot period with city heat advisory -- in March 2026! Room was always very warm, but I got air circulating with propping open the door, opening the window, and having the fans go. Ceiling fan worked well. Note that this is not a complaint, but just an advisory for others who may read this and may expect something else. Also nearby are excellent food options (including 24 hour diner on weekends). I was there for a conference, and the King George was only around the corner from the conference hotels, whose conference rates were triple what I paid for the King George. Trader Joe's is in easy walking distance. People were great, shout-out to maintenance and housekeeping staff and to Jayson the bartender. The first floor lobby area and bar area, with TVs, plugs, tables, chairs, etc., was wonderful (but no air circulation). Free coffee and pastry in the morning too!

The place is close to everything, very safe. Easy to get to from bart. Front staff is very friendly, professional and ready to assist with recommendations. The issue is, rooms have a heater but no AC. It was a really hot day in SF. Possible that they do not have many really hot days.

It was a perfect location for my 12th visit to San Francisco. Close to everything I wanted to do.

Clean room and very convenient location! You're next to alot of great places to start walking from. A great location for going out and exploring during the night or day! Especially the night life! Everything is literally just a couple of blocks away and walking is fun in the city! We came here for a last minute get away and to celebrate the chinese new years which of course was packed! So we got lucky funding this spot. Annnnd the huge bonus is the parking garage is LITERALLY RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET!!
- 5/5
Wonderful Union Square location with inexpensive overnight parking across the street in public garage. Many food options nearby including "The Beer Hall".

The room was extremely HOT. Left our room window open the entire night / day and it was still very uncomfortable to sleep. There is a ceiling fan but it definitely did not make too much of a difference. We were on the 7th floor, so the heat definitely rises.

Need warmer bedding

The lobby was cool, great location, and affordable. However there appeared to have been bleach stains in the hallway, the room was musky, and extremely small compared to the pics seen. Kind of a hostel vibe to it.

Excellent location near Union Sq and Powell BART. Rooms are small but for a solo traveller who spends little time in his room it was absolutely fine and well-priced. The place is not new, but it was clean, staff were courteous and attentive and helped me with the extraordinary amount of sports gear I was carrying. My meeting was at the St Francis a couple hundred feet away… stayed here for the entire conference for the price of one night there. And still had time to go back to my room during breaks. Would absolutely stay here again.

Cons: had a loud drunk neighbor. I could hear him yelling on my ear due to a connecting door. Carpet needs some cleaning. I had stayed here before and this is the first time experiencing laud drunk guests.

Always a decent place to stay for vintage San Francisco.
- 1/5
Very small room. TV was not working. No shampoo dispenser.
- 1/5
This is a joke asking about AC. When the room doesn’t have that 😂
- 2/5
The front desk gentleman was not quite welcoming nor informative! He gave us two keys that were only good for the first night of our two night stay! The elevator was in a very bad condition! The paints and wallpapers were coming off. The staff didn’t care closing the doors hard and spoke loudly late at night or early in the mornings. The room bathroom door was very hard to open and the room entrance light wouldn’t function! You had to walk in the dark and turn on the lamp inside the room. Overall, not the experience I was expecting for the price!

Front desk lady was super nice!!!! Room was small and the beds were small. There was no heater working and it was really cold. Had to call the front desk with the phone in the room. The phone didn’t work. Had to call from personal cell phone for them to pick up. Space heater was provided which helped but for the price (1,300+ a night) it was not great. Breakfast was limited. Non dairy milks weren’t available as well as simple things like maple syrup. Carpets in the room were super dirty and no sleepers were provided during the stay. I would not recommend staying at this place.
- 1/5
Is that what you call a breakfast? That was awful. I will be so ashamed to call it breakfast.
- 4/5
One slow creaky elevator, narrow spiral staircse makes it hard to take the stairs and carry bags at the same time, mattress and pillows adequate but not great. The shower gel pump didn't work. I couldn't get the captions to work on the TV. No protein available in the free breakfast, But I like this place. I like it better when it's $110 a night than when it's $200 a night.
- 3.5/5

- 2/5
No heat and way too small too
- 3/5
Needs some major upgrade
- 2/5
There was no heat though they provided a space heater on the second day of a 3-day stay. The window in the bathroom was a slat-style that did not fully close and there was no storm window, so it was very noisy and very cold. The room is small and overall the place needs significant uodating with the exception of the lobby which is nice. Staff was nice and apologetic about the heat; obviously not in their control.
- 3/5
There was no heat in the hotel.
- 3/5
The boiler broke. Sooo cold. However, in a very bad situation the staff was kind (space heaters, blankets).
- 5/5
Allowed to shower after running 1 1/2 hours in Hot Chocolate Run. That’s for giving me this ability to check out at 12 instead of 11.
- 4.5/5
The theme of the hotel is very charming, and the lobby is a comfortable place to stay when necessary. The bedroom was small but comfortable and was well maintained. Staff were friendly. Everything was clean. The wallpaper in our bathroom was peeling, which I can understand not fixing right away, but it does seem like maybe something a guest might end up paying for if they ever accidentally made it worse if not tended to before a room is booked, right? Our room was so cold at night we had to ask for a space heater.
- 1/5
The hotel stated that the room was kind of small, which we already expected. However, the worst part was how loud it was outside. Some kind of machine was running all night, and the front desk said there was nothing they could do about it. We couldn’t sleep at all because of the noise. The staff were nice, but if you’re choosing this hotel just to save $50, it’s not worth it.
- 1/5
We were told once we got to the room the central heater doesn’t work. When the room description said working heater.

- 4/5
Staff was amazing. Water machine broke the day we got there and the hotel only offered sink water. AC was very hot in the room so we had to open a window. Also took a while to get hot water, but like I said.. staff was VERY NICE
- 3/5
Venue could be upfront with Expedia regarding a gratuitous daily $15 facility fee applied beyond the full charge I was quoted.
- 4/5
Room was clean enough, could do with extra towels (given on request), room was ok, could definitely do with an upgrade but was suitable for what we needed, lovely bar area and reception - staff were great. A few mins from Union square itself and Powel station
- 3/5
The only problem that I had was that the water took a long time to warm up , but other wise the place and the staff was great .

Overall a good location. Could do better to cleanliness specifically very old carpets.
- 5/5
Abdul is wonderful
- 3/5
Very small room. No ability to control temperature. No functional Internet service on the 7th floor (totally unacceptable). Only one elevator thus constantly fighting with the cleaning crew for access. Staff generally nice and property kept reasonably clean. However, for the same price, there are many other much better hotels in the area. Will not come back.
- 5/5
Great location, nice staff, clear room, but surprise to get extra 15/day charges on breakfast.
- 5/5
7:30〜提供されるマフィン、デニッシュ、ハムチーズクロワッサンが美味しかったです。朝食ではないからあまり明記されないようですが軽食はとれます!

We love the hotel and it had become our "go-to" for several stays per year; but this time we were not able to travel due to illness. Our request to cancel, made a full 4 days ahead, was denied. We'll need to start looking for a new go-to hotel, which is sad.
- 4/5
Clean but tiny with really small corners
- 4/5
Good location, room was nice
- 5/5
Friendly staff, quiet room, nice bar, coffee and pastries available each morning.
- 4/5
Room was on the small side, definitely showing its age. It was clean and safe inside. The outside area could be a little mot
- 1/5
First, the rooms are not updated, and the shower head in the bathroom was broken. Second, money from the room was stolen. The Receptionist, John, was rude to me and my son, and the manager treated my son badly. I was not happy at all. The manager did nothing about the money. I will never go to that Hotel again.
- 5/5
No bells and whistles, but a super friendly and helpful staff and a good location for walking and exploring. Would 100% stay here again.
- 3/5
There is no ac in any rooms besides the 1st floor, this should be noted somewhere when booking. The $15 daily resort fee is also unreasonable as this is not a resort.
- 3/5
Tiny rooms, even tinier bathroom. Black mold in bathroom.
- 2/5
Room damp
- 4/5

Amenities, glass glasses, fresh pastries, and the room was extremely noisy. Staff was okay but seemingly uninformed of surrounding places, theatres.

- 4/5
Good friendly service from the front desk. Good location.
- 4/5
Excellent staff! They were definitely what most stood out. The stay was nice but I would say the rooms need a bit updating. The wallpaper was coming off the wall. There was a bit of mold on the bathroom ceiling. The carpets were old. Understanding it's's an older hotel but some sprucing up would be great. Also loved the little breakfast in the morning. That was so nice. But at the end, the staff is where the magic was. Staff are magnificent!
- 5/5
The carpets were probably not as clean as they could be

- 1/5
Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that our room’s carpets were dirty and had an unpleasant odor. We requested a room change, hoping for better conditions, but unfortunately the second room was no better than the original. The room conditions were unacceptable: • Windows were extremely small, allowing virtually no natural sunlight into the room • Furniture was old and worn out • The rooms resembled outdated apartment units rather than hotel accommodations • The appearance was nothing like the photos displayed on your website The hotel facilities were equally problematic. There is only one tiny elevator serving the entire building. If you’re staying on an upper floor, good luck catching the elevator in a timely manner. The complimentary breakfast was terrible - the food was not fresh at all. Additionally, there is construction happening in the adjacent building, so unavoidable banging noises throughout the day made our stay even more unpleasant. I must mention that your front desk staff were friendly and professional. However, there was little they could do about the poor condition of the hotel rooms and facilities. For the money we paid, this stay was a complete waste. I would strongly advise future guests to spend an extra $100 per night and stay at other comparable hotel
- 5/5
Close to every thing, appreciate the coffee and pastries each morning
- 3/5
Friendly staff and decent bedding. Bare bones hotel. Tiny rooms, cramped bathroom. Good price, pretty clean, close to Union Square, relatively safe for SF. The hotel was not very full when I stayed there, but very little sound proofing in the rooms, you could hear everything happening in the hall. No air conditioning but there is a ceiling fan and the windows open even on higher floors. Be aware of that if you are going to bring kids, they could fall out. I would stay there again in a pinch.
- 5/5
Room is neat.
- 1/5
Creepy, old, out dated and smelly hotel. Do not stay here unless those are some of the things you like.
- 5/5
Great location. Room was clean and comfortable. Lobby had fun games.
- 5/5
What a wonderful stay completely recommend Daya was amazing
- 3/5
The was no hot water when we checked in, big inconvenience since we wanted to shower before going out that night. There was no manager to talk to since it was the weekend. A $15 service fee was removed from our stay but the way the matter was handled was not great.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, nice common area with pool, darts, etc.. vaue for money to stay in the location. Its some blocks away from the bad areas of tenderloin. Felt safe at late night too.
- 3/5
Room was clean, location was great, however disappointed with the mandatory $15 "amenities fee" which we were not aware of, which included extremely basic coffee and pastries. It would have been great to opt out of this. If we knew about it beforehand we may have selected another hotel.
- 4/5
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Room was very clean and comfortable. Maid service cleaned room very clean each day. Continental breakfast with coffee and pastries was wonderful way to start each morning
- 1/5
Staff was friendly but no hot water, which was frustrating.
- 5/5
I probably won't be staying at the King George in the future because I usually travel with a small dog. But I do recommend the King George to my friends & family.
- 4/5
Very nice Staff; property a little rundown, but will maintain; area not so great at night
- 3/5
Check-in was quick, though I was a bit surprised by the extra $15 charge for morning coffee and amenities. It ended up including some pastries, so it wasn’t too bad. Now for the issues. First, the elevator — there’s only one, it’s small, and quite slow. With nine floors and people constantly checking in and out, be prepared to wait. We were on the fifth floor and ended up taking the stairs at checkout, which was fine since we only had backpacks. But if you have luggage, the narrow stairs could be a real challenge. Second, the noise. Our room was on the fifth floor facing the street and right next to the elevator. Between the street traffic and elevator noise, it was hard to get much rest. The windows and walls definitely need better insulation. Lastly, while not a deal-breaker, the room could use some updates. The furniture felt a bit dated and there were several stains on the carpet. Overall, I might give it another try if I need to stay in that area again — but next time, I’d request a higher floor, a room not facing the street, and definitely far from the elevator. And I’d pack light, knowing the elevator situation.
- 5/5
Gorgeous hotel. Perfect experience.
- 1/5
I also want to be fair about the service which was decent for the price.
- 5/5
Super comfy beds and ideally located to access public transport.
- 5/5
Loved the bed, extra comfy. The soap and lotion smelled really good. The tub was nice and clean. The tv had a lot of channels too.
- 3/5
The rooms are very cramped and the windows don’t have screens. I understand it’s an older hotel but you can really tell once you head up the stairs. The rooms have great fans though. There wasn’t pastries available in the morning, just coffee. I wish there were hours set out for when the bar is open and that there was the promised morning selection available, that was super disappointing m. The $15 fee is just a way for them to make more money. The “benefits” of that fee are ridiculous. One of them is slippers by request, if slippers are included maybe you should offer them when guests arrive. It wasn’t a cheap rate by any means and I felt like the rate did not match up to the experience. Not having mini fridges/microwaves in rooms sucks and having to request one seems crazy. Again, if it’s available to guests, it should be offered at check in. We weren’t even given info about WiFi. The staff was nice but not informative about what was available to guests considering the rate AND additional fee. I probably would only stay here as last resort since it’s pretty outdated for the rate offered with the additional required fee.
- 5/5
Super Friendly staff, lovely, updated room for a great price. Nice and reasonably priced cafe next door. I’ll be back!
- 5/5
Every staff member I encountered was pleasant, helpful, and professional. My room was clean and the bathroom was impeccably clean.
- 5/5
Property was close to public transportation which is a great way to get around. Friendly staff, with secure doors in the evening.
- 5/5
amazing, especially Dinah. She helped with absolutely everything from good places to eat and transportation.
- 5/5
Good location. Close to the cable car. Good price.
- 1/5
This hotel is nothing like what you see on their website. The rooms look completely different — outdated, with old carpet and a musty smell that hits you the moment you walk in. The entire hallway smells just as bad. I would honestly rate this place 3 stars at best, and that’s being generous. The so-called continental breakfast is terrible — very limited choices and poor quality. Whatever marketing tricks they use to advertise this hotel clearly only work once, because there’s no chance I’d ever come back. To make things worse, people were openly smoking marijuana right in front of the hotel entrance. Overall, this place is a total disappointment and not worth your money.
- 5/5
Clean room, bed very good , the staff excelente and the locarion is closet to everything
- 2/5
Yelling and screaming went on between other guests, some domestic issue for over an hour. Nobody answered at front desk despite repeated calls. We’re kind enough to offer a late check out but felt unsafe. Nearly called 911, would have if situation escalated or didn’t finally stop. Disappointing that can’t a hold of any staff or security.
- 5/5
Cute hotel. Great location and good price.
- 5/5

- 4/5
Nice linens and towels plus upgraded toiletries imported from Italy. It was nice to have upgraded coffee and tea in the room and lobby. In addition, there were fresh pastries and whole fruits available in the morning. Very reasonable room rates and a great location accessible to lots of great restaurants and shopping nearby at Union Square. I will definitely recommend this to travelers seeking a good value at affordable prices.
- 4/5
Staff was fabulous and the hotel has a great location. The free continental breakfast was also much appreciated. I would have liked a small fridge in the room and/or ice machines, but all in all we had a great stay.
- 3/5
Your staff is very friendly and exceptionally helpful. They were outstanding and amazing. But the guestroom was very poor. The twin beds were very comfortable but the carpeting was very dirty and the hotel over all is very dated and in poor condition. Your location downtown was very convenient but the hotel is badly in need of a renovation. For that reason, I would not stay there again.
- 3/5
The localisation is perfect, the staff is very friendly BUT there should have been a clearer indication that the rooms did not have air conditioning.
- 4/5
The bed has a pole that hits my toes everyday. ouch. There were a few brown marks in the bathroom in my room, which is a little suspicious.

The room was clean and the bed was nice. There's only one elevator which was annoying. The showerhead sprayed everywhere if you weren't careful. The outlet kept dying when I was blow-drying my hair.
- 1/5
tiny slow elevator stinky no refrigerator in room N O I S Y ALL THE TIME!!!! I WOULD RATE A 0 OF 10 ON THIS PROPERTY! DRUGGIES ON THE STREET OUTSIDE PARKING 38.00, TERRIBLE PARKING LOT ACROSS THE STREET WE WOULD SLEEP IN THE CAR BEFORE WE'D STAY THERE AGAIN. HAD A FAMILY EMERGENCY, TRIED TO CANCEL SECOND NIGHT, WOULD NOT LET US CANCEL.
- 5/5
This place is surrounded by plenty of places to eat, shop and public transportation is within reach. Is quiet, affordable and clean. I enjoyed my stay, no complaints.
- 5/5
Extremely friendly staff. Parking garage across the street. Shopping in Union Square only one block away.
- 2.5/5
Staff is great. Rooms were awful. Bed was uncomfortable. Room was hot and you couldn’t adjust the temp. Water was like warm for showers.
- 1/5
Its old, dusty, with no ac, u have a ceiling fan but the room is incredibly humid.
- 1/5
I didn’t like the bathroom / tub is tiny and everything was coming off when I turned the water on
- 2/5
The elevator was out of service for the duration of our entire trip and we were on the eighth floor.
- 3/5
They staff was fine but the facilities were not - they had no bar/ restaurant as advertised and THE ELEVATOR WAS BROKEN the entirety of our stay (& days before and after - who knows if it was ever fixed??). Given there circumstances were known well before our arrival/ checkin, we should have been informed and provided other accommodation option. There were many people older & less mobile than us who struggled (and nearly cost us missing our departure flight as stairwells were clogged w people and staff transporting luggage). We expect a refund/ compensation of some kind (as all should)

I will not stay at this place ever again
- 3.5/5
The bathroom windows were not all frosted; the hair dryer was half old and smelled burnt
- 3/5
Our trip would have been difficult, if not ruined, had it not been for the staff, especially Marissa and Dinah. They both went above and beyond to help us and make us comfortable. These ladies did not have an easy work enviornment as one can imagine. Guests were waiting or walking up to the 9th floor with luggage. Despite Marissa and Dinah having maybe one of their worst weekends at work, and dealing with very unhappy guests, they remained both positive and helpful. The maintenance and the cleaning staff were awesome as well. I hope they get a bonus for that weekend because the owners would be wise to keep Marissa, Dinah, the maintenance and the cleaning staff.
- 5/5
the elevator was broke when we arrived and had to climb 7 stories on foot. it was fixed the next day, thank goodness.
- 5/5
Staff exceptional. Noisy at night . Accessible to union square.
- 2/5
The hotel does not look like the pictures. The restaurant was closed. The bar was closed. The hotel is dingy. The bathroom is tiny with no space to set out anything except on top of an electrical box. The lock on my door malfunctioned so I was locked out until maintenance replaced the battery. Not all of the elevator buttons light up. Someone penciled in the light was out. It struck me as odd that trash cans were moved from the street through the lobby. I will say the staff was friendly.
- 3/5
Was informed upon check in that the elevator wasn’t working. They were great and had our bags brought up. The room was very tiny. Literally just enough room to get down the sides of the bed and a desk two feet from the end of the bed. Bathroom is small and cramped. Bar was no longer opening. Overall the stay wasn’t bad but a little more room and a working elevator would have been great.
- 5/5
Loved it.
- 5/5
OLD and quaint place to stay. Great location to get around Union Square and close to all kinds of things . . . like restaurants and the cable cars.
- 5/5
Nice room
- 5/5
Always a clean and friendly hotel.
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay at King George recently with one caveat: no working elevator and I was on the 5th floor. The curved stairs were not easy to navigate with luggage -- but I adjusted for the night and will be pleased to stay at the King George again in the future. Friendly staff, comfortable lobby, fantastic breakfast danish and doughnut offerings, and a clean, comfortable, quiet room.

This Hotel needs an update! It was HOT in our room and there is no way to control the ac. We completed to the front desk and they gave us a fan that was duck taped and the electric code was cut and repaired. Not Safe! One very small elevator that is always busy. Curtains that are ripped and ready for the garage. Was told not to go two blocks over as it is dangerous. Do not stay here!!

Room very dirty. Service terrible, I will not recommend this hotel
- 5/5
Staff is always welcoming, and I enjoy the breakfast bar in the lobby.
- 5/5
The queen bed has got to be the most comfortable bed ive slept in
- 5/5
It was in a great location for us to be able to explore San Francisco and we did that. Also got up early a took a long hilly walk. Sooo much fun! When we arrived we were told that the elevator was down and we had some heavy luggage? they told us our room on the 9th floor was not ready and I almost panicked!! They asked us to come back later. And they would try to find us a better room. We took this opportunity to explore San Francisco, and when we got back almost 6 hours later, they upgraded the room to the 1st floor. Thank goodness!!!?❤️
- 5/5
The King George was a terrific place to stay. Very clean and in the center of all the places we wanted to visit. The staff were very nice. Although the elevator broke on our second day. The staff really did their best to keep our rooms clean and well maintained.

Enjoyed my stay

Great customer service!
- 3/5
The old school, historic San Francisco vibes of this hotel are cute, and the staff are really wonderful - but the elevator was out of service for the entire duration of my stay, and the walking up 5 flights in a narrow staircase was not ideal. They removed 2 of the 3 nights worth of the $15 daily amenity fee for the inconvenience (all 3 nights would have been nice). The walls are also quite thin so you can hear neighboring rooms and convos in the hallways. I may have also contracted an infection or insect bite from the hotel, which I'm getting checked out. There was an automated earthquake warning that was activated during the earthquake early this morning, which was good, ha! Overall though, I would recommend spending a little more money on another hotel.
- 5/5
Excellent service , excellent location. Room was great!
- 5/5
We were sorry the bar was closed.
- 3/5
The area was ok unless you walked over 2 blocks and then it was not a place I would walk alone. So, you need to be careful.
- 4/5
Staff are friendly. Elevator was not working for majority of our stay so had to go up and down 5 flights of stairs. My stored luggages were taken by another customer so had some anxious moments. There should be stricter luggage checks. Room was clean and location was great
- 5/5
Great staff, great location, comfortable room.
- 4/5
Staff was very attentive and coordinated a taxi for me for a 3:00 a.m. pick up.
- 3/5
Felt a little mislead. Very cute place that advertises an on site bar. This is inaccurate, the bar has been closed awhile. My room was supposed to be a suite and was up charged, it was slightly largwr than the ueen bed. The staff was great and very helpful. The hotel itself is clean. Homeless throwing feces out front is not the atmosphere i was going for. Great food across the street
- 1/5
I left within 10 minutes of checking in.
- 4/5
The front desk was extremely understanding and kind to move us rooms on opposite side of building of construction, and well as upgrade our room to a much larger one. The hotel is old, but you can tell they are working on improvements, and the rooms were clean. The staff were all so kind and went above and beyond to assist with our needs and concerns. I would suggest they don’t book the rooms surrounding areas of construction or limit times of construction during day times, not at the crack of dawn so people are woken up. Also? The area is walking distance to many shops, restaurants, bars, and nightlife but be mindful especially if traveling with young ones it is not far from the Tenderloin district which is quite seedy. Overall I would come back here mainly for the convenient location, and mostly the amazing staff who probably all deserve raises for there incredible customer service!

Room was clean, no where in the description did it mention there was no ac. Which that wouldn’t have been a big problem because the windows open and it’s cool at night and in the morning. But….. the location where it’s at there are a lot of homeless people around and they were screaming and hollering every single night until passed 2 am. So we didn’t get much sleep. If we close the windows to not hear them the room was very hot. Unfortunately that put a Dampen on our stay. The staff was great and the room was clean, there is no refrigerator in room. Would have to ask for one If needed. Rooms are very out dated, but they are clean. Also on hotel details it said there was valet and there was not. We were instructed to park in parking garage across the street and pay the daily fee. Also we were told not to leave anything what so ever in the car because it a was a high theft area. Never saw bar open. Stairs were not in service due to painting, but there was no wet paint.
- 1/5
I liked nothing about this property. The photos online are completely misleading compared to the room we were presented with. So much so that we left the hotel immediately.
- 5/5
Great location. Convenient to everything. Parking structure across the street $38.00. Rooms were cute and clean. Simple, yet good little pastry and fruit bar for breakfast.
- 5/5
We love staying at the King George. The staff is great, beds are comfy. And you can play pool and darts down in the lobby.
- 4/5
Friendly place
- 1/5
no air conditioning unless you upgrade to a deluxe room with a crappy window unit on the first floor
- 5/5
It’s nice
- 1/5
Bar wasn't open. Room was small and looked dirty.
- 1/5
When I looked outside the window, I saw socks as if someone homeless was sleeping outside or someone throwing socks out the window.
- 5/5
We stayed at this property for 2 nights and were very happy with our experience. Hotel is very well located, minutes walk from lots of bars and restaurants, street around hotel is safe, hotel itself was very cute and clean, staff was amazing. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Although it’s small and had no AC in our room we enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable, the water was nice and hot and the common areas were very clean and welcoming. Staff hospitality was excellent.
- 4/5
The service upon entering was kind and helpful. There were plenty of walkable dining options, which the receptionist gave us a list for as well as a map. The room is small, but the bed was big and comfy and clean. The bathroom was clean too, which is important, and I liked that the tub was deep enough for a soak. There was a good amount of storage space. The only small complaint I would have is that the ceiling fan made small tapping noises when running, which I imagine could be distracting at night. Maybe it was just in my room, but it happened. Sleeping without the ceiling fan is not an option in the summer because there is no air conditioner. I wish they also had a proper valet, rather than parking in a garage yourself. But other than that, I appreciated and enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
We have stayed at the King George about 8 or 9 times. Small rooms and elevator, bit great location and staff. Not sure why but today was the first time we ever went downstairs for morning coffee/pastries, simple but nice and perfect way to start the day.
- 5/5
Such a cute unique boutique hotel! Will definitely book again
- 5/5
Room was clean, it was downtown and close to everything. I stay here often when I’m in SF.
- 4/5
The area are the bay is generally cool so it wasnt an issue, but the majority of the hotel rooms do not have air conditioning.
- 3/5
The hotel is very old and run down.the ground floor as you walk in has been modified and gives you the impression that the hotel has been done up but when you go up stairs you soon realized it is false advertising. Expedias photos off hotels are false, they trick there customers when hotels are old and run down. The only thing i would say is positive is the stay were great and helpfull.
- 5/5
Love the room!
- 5/5
Fabulous hotel in a great location. Right opposite a car park, round the corner from Union Square. Bonus coffee and oastries at breakfast.
- 4/5
Our room was decent. A little loud do to construction next door from it. The room was nice and cozy but the ceiling fan was possessed! We shut it off manually on the wall switches and the light kept turning on by itself. We finally opted to shut off the entire fan and light by the switch. Do note that there is no AC in the bedrooms. The bathroom was really nice with a deep inviting tub. Downstairs in the libby was pleasant! The staff was wonderful too!!
- 5/5
Lovely lounge area. Nice staff. Clean. Quite. Only 1 flaw the elevator is teeny tiny.
- 1/5
I was in town to do charity ride ALC. I had booked my room and after doing so, my team mates had informed me of us staying at another hotel. As much as I wished to stay at the George, they didn't have a room to accommodate us. I asked to cancel without consequence but they didn't care. It is a bot ran type of place that doesn't care about their guest. I love to stay at different types of hotels when traveling for the experience but I do not believe I will ever stay here. What happened to customer service and appreciating those who give you business.
- 5/5
We have stayed here many times, my wife loves this place and we typically find a way to stay here each time!
- 3/5
Dated.
- 5/5
Great staff. Just all around lovely good vibe!
- 5/5
Great Service ! The lady who checked me in her named started with D.... she was fantastic ! She made the entire experience pleasurable
- 4/5
Comfortable bed and clean bathroom, room space very small if more than one person plan on single filing it to get around in and around in room. No AC natural ventilation you can open windows but they have no safety screens. They need new carpet in room we were in. Assume that may apply to the entire place. It does smell very clean. With no old worn out smell. Appreciate the lemon water at the entry. Love the decor in the front leisure lounge and cool hat lamps. The bar was never open during our time there but not an issue. Location to union square and market street is very convenient. Surrounded by great dining like Mastro’s Steakhouse. Parking across street warning please read the details and if possible double check with the cashier to ensure you don’t pay double for your stay in garage if planning on going in and out during 24 hours.
- 5/5
We would recommend it, and return for future trips.
- 1/5
Disgusting. While I can very much admire the architecture of an old building, the cleanliness of the rooms and furniture where extremely unkept. When we checked in to our room, we found a used cup on the ground, which wasn’t that much of a big deal and then we found a make up pad on the ground, again, not the biggest deal, but then there was dried bloody boogers all over the curtains… so we requested to be moved to a clean room. Front desk employee confirmed with management that it was a clean room. Then we check into that room and there is literally 2 inch black hairs on the toilet seat, the bathroom floor, and worst of all, same hair on the sheets of the bed underneath the comforter.
- 5/5
complimentary breakfast, amazing staff- the best hotel staff ive ever had
- 5/5
The two ladies front desk Marisa gave us a great welcome , very helpful and friendly…
- 4/5
Staff were nice
- 4/5
Love the uniqueness of the hotel. I felt very comfortable and slept decently. I do wish that the comforter was thicker and I was a little cold
- 3/5
We got a “ghost key” to check out a room and when we opened it there was someone in there sleeping. Shook my sense of security. Elevator is very small and slow. Alternatively stairs are tight and circular, which is dangerous in general but especially if there were a fire. Beds were clean and very comfortable. Staff was friendly.
- 3/5
It did the job to just sleep in. If plan on spending time in your room look at the first floor rooms they are more updated. Our room did not have air conditioning and the tv did not have streaming services. Other than that it was clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Dinah and the whole staff at the King George Hotel were so welcoming and accommodating. Dinah especially gave us such great service and was so sweet our entire visit.
- 2/5
The room was extremely small! Maybe thats just san francisco. Im not sure. The beds were pretty comfertable and the staff were great. My only complaint was that te room and bathroom were tiny! Uugh
- 5/5
Great place !
- 4/5
It is within walking distance of San Francisco's landmarks, including the SFMOMA, Yerba Buena, Union Square, Geary Street and the galleries. It is an easy 35 minute walk to Embarcadero Pier 15. And for those that don't walk, MUNI and Bart stations are plentiful.
- 4/5
I especially like the staff, the service. They’re very friendly and very helpful. The room was smaller than I would’ve liked, but they were very clean. The hotel was very clean . It was great for families. The bathroom was very large. I was very comfortable there, in the hotel. It was very close to shopping and restaurants
- 5/5
Beds good
- 3/5
The hotel is dated however the front desk individual such as Dinah and Sebastian were amazing during my check in. I can’t thank them enough. It’s near the shopping center and awesome restaurants. If you are looking for a spot just to sleep. I would recommend this place!
- 4/5
Great little hotel our only concern was hot water. Temp was set too low and it seemed at night it was worse.
- 5/5
Wonderful experience
- 5/5
The parking garage is right across the street. 24 hour parking for $43 great price for the city. The hotel is so cute and beautiful. It’s in a great area. Walking distance to a lot of things and restaurants. The room is very nice, the bed is soo comfortable, and I really appreciated that the shower had great pressure and hot water. Also, the bathtub was really nice.
- 5/5
It’s an old building but clean and well maintained.
- 4/5
Only one lift and it's small, take the stairs if you can.
- 4/5
very good for price
- 4/5
Loved staying here. My only complaint was that my room was next to a loud AC from the neighboring building but i just closed all the windows when i had to sleep and it helped a bit.
- 5/5
I like how the lobby looked
- 4/5
Booked a 3-night stay, midweek, last minute, looking for something affordable. This hotel was a pleasant surprise, well kept inside and outside. I would recommend for anyone staying on a budget. Great location for walking around Union Square, or a launching point for more exploration of SF.
- 5/5
We went to a show at the Warfield and the location was really convenient. Public parking across the street. Nice little hotel.
- 5/5
Very cute place!
- 5/5
Stayed here for a night for a concert and was pleased with our stay. A woman who works at the front desk helped us out so much and she was so kind, I think her name was Daisha? Would stay here again!
- 5/5
Very nice and quaint. All staff members were pleasant. Small and only food was vending and continental breakfast but great diner across the street. At night it was kinda sketchy in nearby area to walk alone.
- 5/5
The staff was incredibly helpful and the valet parking worked well for us. We were pleasantly surprised how quiet it was. Our only disappointment was that the adorable looking on-site British pub shown on the website had closed months ago.
- 1/5
This place is cute with a very friendly staff but absolutely hands down the filthiest hotel I have ever stayed. The sheets were never changed, and actually had a previous occupant’s fake eyelashes stuck to them. I pointed this out to the staff on the floor. Instead of changing the sheets they pulled the lashes off. I could still see the adhesive! The sheets were the worst of it … but the overall cleanliness of the room was still a one star. Ground in dirt was everywhere!
- 5/5
Loved the small hotel but big service and wlcome
