The hotel is praised for its central location, friendly and helpful staff, and good breakfast. However, some guests find the rooms small and outdated, with noise and parking being common issues.

This is an older building but it was clean. And there was a hot breakfast offered each morning. The staff were helpful and friendly, gave good suggestions. The room size was smaller than expected and there really wasn’t a view , but the room was only used for sleeping .. spent the majority of our time exploring the city outside

Good hotel for a short stay in San Francisco. The location is convenient and everything was fine during our visit. However, if I return to the city, I would probably choose a hotel outside Union Square, as the area feels a bit too crowded for my taste.

Location, breakfast Bad internet, ratty carpets, old tv and a/c unit. The check in system is bad, its supposed to be automatic, but the app doesn't work and so you are forced to use a broken system since there is no manual option.

Location is superb in downtown. Complimentary breakfast is rather good using US standards. Rooms could use some refreshment. If you get a room facing Bush street, all the noise from the street is loud and clear. There is no such thing as soundproofing in this building. Please note that there was no cleaning at all during 4 nights stay. It was probably mentioned somewhere but I didn't notice it.

This hotel was so very nearly Good rather than Pleasant - we had a good stay and would consider staying again. The hotel is in an excellent central location to visit all that San Francisco has to offer, especially as there were numerous Cable Car stops nearby (as is the Cable Car Museum, which is well worth visiting). There are a couple of well stocked food markets nearby too, as well as restaurants and bars. The room (Executive Double King) was good – extremely comfortable bed, nice quality toiletries, iron and ironing board provided. As we are tea drinkers a kettle was delivered upon request (there’s also a ‘fridge for milk etc). All staff we encountered on Reception were friendly, helpful and informative. Breakfast was acceptable; basic cereals, fruit and yoghurt daily, different savoury (eggs etc) and sweet option (e.g. waffles, pancakes, muffins) each day. Our room was quiet, that said we were at the back of the hotel overlooking other rooms and a wall. The dining room was in the hotels Sports Bar, which was not the best for ambience. Also I do not understand why all of the breakfast crockery, even the mugs/cups (and those in the room) was paper, cardboard or plastic (the cutlery was metal). This tainted the overall experience of what could be a Good hotel. During our stay the Lounge area and Reception Entrance was being renovated so we could not use it, and therefore had to enter via the Sports Bar, not the best first impression (it was looking lovely when we left).

Cheap and great location! Older property so woke up several times every night to people flushing their toilets or taking a shower. The rooms are dilapidated: particularly the furnishings but everything is clean. The breakfast was horrible and not stocked well.

When we arrived, we were expecting a room with a view, based on a phone conversation we had with someone at the front desk, when we booked the room. The gentleman who checked us in said that no room like that was available but that we could have a different type of room, with a view, for a higher price per night. He said that because we had booked through a third party, he couldn't over ride that fee. We were about to settle into our original room when he called and said that a room with a view at our price had just been canceled and he moved us to that room. We really liked the room we ended up with. Other than that initial frustration, we enjoyed the hotel and the friendly staff. The location is accessible to lots of different public transportation lines making it easy to get to all the locations we wanted to see.

Room and breakfast were fine. Location was central. Got a relatively decent rate by comparison to some other nearby hotels Unnecessarily stressful checkin. Booked for a relative on Booking.com, the hotel had my credit card and knew I would not be present, but an unhelpful night staff demanded they provide an additional credit card on arrival, which they didn't have. I had also emailed the hotel about this in advance. Desk staff was refusing to allow them to check in to the prepaid room and insisting they had to leave, and "talk to the manager in the morning". It was late at night after a long flight. NO effort to problem-solve. Finally agreed to take my card number again over the phone. It took about one minute and went though just fine. I did check to be sure they didn't add any extra charges later; they didn't

I had a place to sleep, bath and have breakfast. I liked the staff. They were polite and nice. It wasn't all bad. They served breakfast everyday. I like the fact that they held our bags for us even though we checked out at 12:00. The A/C was loud and a window unit. I would figure every hotel had central A/C by now. The wifi was horrible. It would come and go. The bathtub was slippery. I fell and hit my head the first night I arrived and had to ask for a bath tub mat the next day, so I don't have a rinse and repeat. You have to be there for seven days to get room service. I had to ask them to bring clean towel and empty my trash everyday. The rugs look like they need an upgrade. If I ever return to San Francisco I will seek out a different hotel.

I did enjoy my stay at this hotel - Staff were very helpful, the room was quite clean, the beds comfortable. When we walked in, the room was very hot and it took us a bit to figure out how to use the heat/AC system. The room we were in (204) had a very tiny bathroom but the amenities were L'Occitane so that was good. Breakfast was pretty basic, but sufficient and the coffee was quite good. Do not expect an experience like at a typical chain hotel - it had a more homey feeling - homey. If you're walking, be aware that, from Union Square, you'll be walking up a steep street the last block. But, hey, it's San Francisco and the place is full of steep streets. You could always take the cable car up Powell.

Well located, clean space/sheets/towels, comfortable The only thing I didn’t enjoy in my stay was the ac/heating unit. I think it’s an old model and it’s very loud, I woke up sometimes during the night with the noise. But everything else was excellent!

The bed was large and comfortable The room was very unmaintained. Our door knob all most fell, and I had yo manually screw it back up. The pictures looked way better than the actual room to a level we suspected they were edited. The food was highly processed and industrial. Like a heated meal and not actually made and cooked there. It was so disappointing we gave up and went to eat somewhere else.

The staff members were nice and the lobby looked good. The room felt dingy and smelled really bad. The furniture was cracked and nasty. We thought the parking was included but it was actually $40 per night. The breakfast was very bad.

Staff is friendly and helpful. Location is good with walkable distance to union square and Chinatown for food. Hotel itself is a little old but the bathroom seems to be recently updated so it's clean though small. Breakfast is basic but we have all we need. Overall it's a decent stay in the city center.

Good and friendly staff, nice location, breakfast is ok It smelled very bad. In the room, we found a cigarette butt. The windows were dirty, and the carpet in the hallway and especially in the room was dirty and had an unpleasant smell.

We love this place. We came to watch the SF Giant's and had a great experience. Vicent the front desk manager was great, he helped us with so much, we will be making this our stay for games, very close to the ballpark and an easy walk there, also very close to Chinatown, Union Square and other areas.
- 5/5
The room could use one more mirror. Only one in the bathroom

Nothing First impression just to checkin, the lobby is dark and drab. The breakfast area (did not have breakfast) eas dark, drab and stark. Our room choice was one queen. The room was dull, dark and drab and not clean. We turned around and checked out within 10 minutes of check-n.

The location was really good, china town was within walking distance and union square was too. The breakfast was decent as well. The room was spacious and and had enough amenities for all of us The AC machine was extremely loud which made it hard to sleep but without it on, the room would get hot. Additionally, I woke up to bed bug bites from my hand all the way up my arm as well as on my leg. They are bed bug bites. Please make sure to check the bed of your room if you stay here

Nice, quaint hotel 6 blocks (uphill) from the Powel St subway station. You can catch the powel st cable car from there up Powel St for $9 through the mass transit app on your phone, or you could catch a taxi, or walk. The hotel is 2 blocks past Union Square, and two blocks from Chinatown. Other than that, you will have to walk considerable distance or catch an uber to get abnywhere. The Hotel had previously converted half the lobby into a sports bar, which shut down so they use it as a nice breakfast room with several large screen TV's. Then they close the room off after 10:00 am and it doesn't open until the next morning.

Loved the location; however, we would not stay there again in the winter. We live on Kauai, so we need the heat in the room. It was drafty and cold. The floor heater was inadequate. We had to use extra blankets. We were given a space hater, but it didn't work. Our room wasn't available at check-in, and when we checked in, we were given a room that was undergoing construction. My husband had to go back down to the lobby and get us another room. The front desk person didn't seem to know the amenities of the property either. Maybe he was new. Room was also very small, and we had two big bags. It was hard to navigate around them. The free breakfast was just below average. If you have food allergies, it's definitely not for you. Overall, we liked the location, but that was about it.

While the rooms are a tad shabby, the lobby is lovely, the staff is helpful, the location is great and the price can't be beat. I paid $96 per night and when I checked with the Wyndom across the street they wanted almost $400 a night. Wow!! A few things they could improve: the windows unit A/C was noisy and the halls could probably use a deep clean but for the price it was a real bargain.

The hotel has taken a major nose dive; felt it as soon as I stepped through the doors. Booked a Deluxe King Room and allocated #307. The room was an ice box and heating didn’t work. Housekeeping gave us a portable heater, which barely blew any hot air. Within 5mins, all power in the room went out. Called front desk & it took 10-15mins for someone to arrive. Maintenance guy claimed the room heating works but to leave it turned off and use the portable heater instead. Maintenance left and upon turning the portable heater back on, the power went out again! Front desk sent us to room #305, which was laden with dust. Blood stained bath towel, torn hand towel, large spider perched by the toilet. I was so disgusted, I chose not to shower there during our 1 night stay. Obviously the room hadn’t been properly cleaned for a long time. Breakfast was dismal and poorly presented. There used to be an array of choices, including various pastries, juices and eggs. Now there’s only bacon, overcooked fried eggs, white/wheat sliced bread, orange juice, 3 cereal choices, whole oranges & apples. The $22 resort fee they charge would be better used at a nearby cafe.

Your hotel needs soundproofing. I could hear everyone walking and the noises from traffic. Rest was fine. You should also provide some water in the room.

First time living in a hotel in SF so not sure about comparison. The room had some bad smell probably because it was old. Staff can be very friendly or impatient depending on the person. Breakfast was just alright - toast, waffle/pancake, eggs, cereal and fruit. I wish they had labels and more healthy choices. Convenient location.

I understand that the building itself is an old historical building (prewar) but I couldn't ignore the oddly moist air, which was also noticeable in the bed sheets...

When we arrived, our room was not ready. The check-in wasn’t until 3 o’clock. Abel said he would take care of our bags and we can get to our room later. We started on our vacation, knowing our bags would be in good hands. All thorough our stay, Abel was very attentive to all of our needs. The continental breakfast was just what we needed in the morning. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

The property is conveniently located two blocks from Union Square. The rooms are clean and neat and efficient. I had previously stayed at this hotel, and a little disappointed that the breakfast options had decreased. Overall, a great value.

Breakfast was amazing. Cereal, fluffed eggs, bacon, potato’s, toast, orange juice and fruits. Good variety and seating. Room was nice just very humid and wet feeling. Could definitely use something for all the condensation because it’s lowkey smelling like mold but the place was beautiful. WiFi was excellent and bed was comfy. It does get loud at night because of traffic and people outside of room thank god they provided ear buds so I slept peacefully. Would definitely book again.

We'd definitely come back to stay here again. My only complaint was that no one at the hotel responded to an email I sent directly to the hotel nor to the messages I sent to the hotel via Expedia. That's lack of communication. I was able to finally call them the day before of my check-in and the staff who answered the phone had no idea what I was talking about.

The American breakfast was good. The breakfast area was available 24/7 for use microwave or cutleries. The old building smell gave me reaction and difficulties to breathe. Bedding was stained: blanket, mattress cover, pillows covers.

Very old property, room was super small, hotel staff was rude from the very beginning, they don’t even give drinking water to the guests. Cleaning service is EXTRA $40. Air conditioning was old and super noisy to the point that makes your sleep annoying and uncomfortable. Bathroom doesn’t have air extractor which makes it just not convenient. Breakfast was very limited too.

The price was right for the services provided. It is a vintage hotel, but there were a few things past vintage and more rundown. The TVs were analog, and the one in first room didn't work, but they changed rooms. The air conditions were loud and noisy. However, the place was super clean, staff was great, breakfast was good and lobby was very nice. Well worth the money.

This is very good value in an old historic hotel that has been refurbished some time ago. Location is excellent: one block from Powell Street with a cable car stop right there, 11 minutes' walk from the Montgomery St. BART station, a five minute walk to the Sutter St., MUNI stop, and of course, immediately accessible by Lyft, Uber, and the autonomous Waymo driverless cars. Service personnel were uniformly friendly and helpful and that made a big difference. The room was comfortable if small, air conditioned with a relatively quiet AC unit that also allowed for fan only functioning, bathroom was appropriately equipped and water pressure was good. Cleanliness was good overall. Lighting in the room was harsh white due to the bulbs that were chosen for the side table and ceiling lamps and could have been softer and more welcoming by far. That would only require a change of the LED bulb color temperature to a warmer spectrum light. There were signs of wear here and there, e.g., our door needed to be slammed in order to close and there were signs of over-painting and paint chipping here and there. Nothing egregious. The breakfast room was a converted sports bar, spacious, a little dark, but otherwise quite functional and the breakfast offerings were varied and substantial and felt like a very good value including hot items that changed from day to day. I would say that breakfast was one of the high points of the stay. The lobby was welcoming with a gas fireplace.

The room was clean but small, very small bathroom, as in most hotels/motels the shower head was way too high. Not enough towels. The hotel is old but clean and tidy, nice lobby with a fire in the fireplace (nice touch) would stay there again.

The hotel room is small but clean. It is well painted and kept nicely. They use locctaine products. The breakfast menu changed fdom day to day. But always had eggs , toast , yogurt, cereals, milk and juice. They would change the style of eggs and then serve a muffin one day or pancakes. Coffee was great tasting. Whole apples but no cut fruit. It was basic but enough to get my site seeing day started. Only problem is AC unit goes on every few minutes for 1 minute and then shuts off. Kept us awake. We were able to open the window the next night but can hear traffic which lessened as night went by so slept better. But if it was summer and had to keep AC on it would be horrible.

The hotel has a very strong bad smell, flooring is dirty. Breakfast was good and bedding was good too. Staffs were very unfriendly. The lift was the slowest one I ever seen. Despite all the bad impressions of the hotel, it was so convenient to go many places just by walking, e.g. Union Square, Chinatown, restaurants etc
- 5/5
Easy check in. Great location. Nice, clean room with up market toiletries. Good selection for breakfast.
- 2/5
The air conditioner didn’t seem working well and can’t adjust the direction of the wind, it blasts wind towards the head of the bed. My kid was sick because of this. And also the filter light is on and needed maintainence

The staff were lovely. The carpets were really old but rooms are clean and comfortable.

This was a boutique hotel that was conveniently located for exploring the city. There was a cable car stop 1/2 block from the hotel. The building dated from 1912 but it was clean and comfortable. The single elevator was a bit slow and the bar was no longer open. The breakfast buffet was hot and good.
- 4/5
Good property
- 4/5
Easy check in, as I arrived past my checking in time. Didn't like that the website does not notify you of pet restrictions. While checking in, the front desk agent informed that pets are only allowed on the second floor, my room was down graded. Tried not to let that set the tone for my stay, but was annoying. Other than that, great, convenient area to stay.
- 5/5
Clean with comfy beds and homemade muffins on the breakfast bar. We will be back 💜

Pretty good, stayed one night. The breakfast was okay. It did the trick. I would stay again.

The single elevator is quite slow and may be too busy during rush hours. Be prepared to use the stairs. Breakfast options can be improved.

Partners with a nearby parking garage and has one of the more affordable daily rates. Centrally located and easy to reach areas of interest by foot or e-scooter (driving not recommended). Hotel is very compact and everything is small, understandable for the area. Rooms are decent, but don't expect luxury as affordability is key here. Hotel provides ear plugs in the night stand which speaks volumes (literally). Modern check-in via terminal, minimal staff interaction. Breakfast is decent with good options, definitely above average.
- 5/5
I stayed at the Executive Hotel Vintage Court for three days in May. The hotel locates near Union Square, making it convenient to go around San Francisco. The hotel itself was slightly old. However, my room and the common area were clean. The free breakfast was delicious. In addition, the staff was nice and helpful. Together with the affordable price point, this hotel is definitely a place to go for when traveling to San Francisco.
- 3/5
This is a tourist hotel masquerading as an executive Hotel. If you get a good rate, you won’t be disappointed. It’s clean but basic. I paid the exorbitant rate associated with a tradeshow, and as such, it fell short of my expectations given the price I paid. The staff are very attentive, but the property is very dated.
- 3/5
Not impressed by the lack of support by the manager. Otherwise the hotel was in a great location and sufficiently clean and the breakfast was adequate.
- 4/5
Great location, walkable to lots of downtown spots, convenient if you need to use public transportation . Breakfast is great. Value and price! Great choice
- 4/5
It was in a historic building. The only downside of this hotel is lack of parking/expensive parking down the street.
- 5/5
Perfect location and very kind, helpful staff.
- 5/5
This is a great hotel right in the heart of everything. The staff are very friendly, and the rooms are a bit older but clean and nice. They also have heat and AC in the rooms, which lots of hotels don't in SF.
- 5/5
Good service!
- 5/5
My stay was just top. Fast check in and out, amazing and very friendly staff, always ready to answer all your questions. Room was very comfortable, everything as described. It was very easy to get to any place you need, there are a lot of options, so you can choose. Definitely recommend this hotel!
- 5/5
This was an older hotel if I recall correctly built in 1902 and to my surprise in really good shape. I enjoyed my stay and the front desk staff, cleaning staff, and kitchen staff was awesome.

I loved the desk folks who were always ready to help. Breakfast was very good. Beds are comfortable as well.
- 5/5
The hotel smelled super clean and the staff was pleasant.
- 5/5
Best breakfast ever
- 4/5
It’s a cute, quirky little downtown hotel. The king room was small but acceptable. The bathroom is a bit tiny (think moving out of the way to open or close door). There is valet parking available around the corner which we appreciated since we couldn’t easily unload the fully packed car! There was breakfast available but we didn’t have the time to enjoy. Looked good though!
- 4/5
Housekeeping is limited to every other day.I asked the front desk if he can send someone to clean our room and pick up the trash. He told me nobody can go there coz housèkeeping will clean only after 4pm every other day.Disappointed, couldn't believe this policy.
- 4/5
Excellent location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Large comfy and clean room. Good breakfast which was let down slightly by having to use plastic knives & forks and paper plates/cups. Overall very good.
- 4/5
Conveniently located hotel. The hot water at the sink only worked when you turned the hot water at the tub. When you turn on the water at the tub, the shower head begins to leak even before pulling the shower converter
- 1/5
Website shows wine services etc none of that either. Rooms are tired, not doubled glazed, air conditioning is old and poor. Light enters the room through windows. Only blinds. Breakfast is very poor. Paper plates and basic items. Cracks in the ceiling and pealing paintwork. Noisy throughout the stay. Amenities in the room don’t match the website description. Neither do the rooms look like what the pictures suggest. If you want anything you have to go out. No bottled water. There is nothing executive about this hotel at all.
- 5/5
Our stay was great, the staff is exceptional, they even give us a California bottle wine. The location is great to visit the city (bus, tramway). The room was clean and very comfy bed. Thanks !
- 4/5
Old not vintage.
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay. Great location. Comfortable beds. Decent breakfast. Nice staff.
- 3/5
The property is very dated. Furniture was in poor condition, blinds in the room were jenky, and elevator wall paper was terrible. The overwhelming perfumed scents when you walk into the hotel, down the hall and in your room is awful. Good thing the window opened some. The best part of the stay was the bed was comfortable, location was great and breakfast was good. Great scrambled eggs.
- 5/5
Came for Chinese new year & stay was great. Room and hotel was up to par. Thanks
- 5/5
The vintage vibe makes the property unique. The A/C generates a loud noise when is on. Apart from that, everything else is fine. The hospitality and attentiveness of the front desk staff make us feel like home which is why we returned for the second time. Breakfast for some might think is limited. For us it is just good as we love, harsh browns, wedges, suasages, hot cakes, waffles, cereal, beacon, scrambled egg / mini omelettes and etc which some are on rotation.
- 1/5
The room looked nothing like the images on the website. There’s no soft lighting in the room, it is all bright, grey, overhead lighting. You’re either going to sleep, or not. The chair in the corner is torn up reminiscent of a motel, with single long hairs found on it and all over the room. and it was sticky……? The sheets are dirty and they do not wash them. After requesting housekeeping and all new bedding, they put the same bedding back on the mattress. Please see photo. Do not stay here. I don’t know what’s worse, the room, the amount of money this experience costs, or the micro aggression.
- 5/5
Great location. Good value. Gym was crazy hot and humid. Rooms were updated with modern furniture, but some of the finishings were looking a little tired.
