The staff were all wonderful. With reserving bikes to asking to light the outdoor fire pit they were right on it. The maids droping off more coffee, everyone was very accommodating. The location was perfectly located on the beach-walkway for resturants that were within walking distance and workout gyms... We would stay there again. 5 Star.

Entire hotel was well maintained and clean..

Bedsheets had hairs on them. Didn’t pull the covers after we saw the hairs. AC did not work at all.

I loved everything about this place!

You're paying for location here. It's steps from the beach and has several nearby options for surf lessons. The pool is heated and convenient for a quick post beach swim. Our room had a partial ocean view which was still amazing and the balcony was great for sitting and watching sunsets or just enjoying the beach view. Parking is easy and convenient. The rooms are old and small. If you're expecting luxury look elsewhere. The on-site café is not good, but there are plenty of other options nearby.

Love the location, very central, I like the ocean view Maybe improve a little in the cleanliness of the room, we saw a few hairs (I guess previous guest, but not a big deal all good.

We loved how it was right on the beach. My husband had a back injury, so he made good use of the hot tub. I would stay there again.

Great location if you like to be near a busy beach setting. Rooms are very nice but not soundproof so I was awake much of first night due to screaming baby next door as well as sound of something like a massager. Second night was a dripping sound all night that stopped when daylight returned. Loved having the balcony. Loved the ample parking although not cheap. Great location to get to what we wanted to do around San Diego. Stayed before busier season starts but hot tub was active both nights so did not use. Parties on public beach where people left lots of trash so be mindful if walking barefoot. Photos are from the balcony.

We stayed for 2nights,,room was clean and looks really cool and modern. Location is perfect, lots of dining options nearby. We enjoyed our stay here, if we visit San Diego again, we will still choose this hotel.

Second time we have stayed here. Great location and great property. Only issue we had this time was people leaving the bars at 2 & yelling & arguing while walking down the boardwalk was annoying. Not the properties fault, just annoying for a Friday and Saturday middle of the night wake up.

Air conditioning in room was not working despite requests to fix. For $400+ per night, this should not even be come up as an issue.

The location of this property can't be beat! After Airbnb canceled my booking 10 days before my family of 15 was scheduled to be there, I was left scrambling to find something comparable. I wanted a location on the beach so that it would make it easier on my children and grandchildren. This was a blessing in disguise! The Wayfarer turned out to be so much better than I expected. It was super clean. The staff were constantly cleaning and fixing things. They were all friendly and helpful. The pool and jacuzzi were amazing! We had 5 rooms total, one oceanfront and the others were partial views. They were all great and very comfortable. It was nice having a refrigerator and microwave in each room, but there were so many restaurants nearby that we were able to walk to each day. I can't wait to go back. We have a new favorite hotel in SD. Nothing! Everything was amazing!

The rooms are clean and spacious and the views of the ocean from the balcony are great. Parking is a bit expensive, but the location is great.Theres always lots of boardwalk traffic in front of the hotel, and very close by are several restaurants and bars for entertainment. Its great for a beach getaway and conveniently close to San Diego.

The lobby staff at this hotel were very unprofessional and very selective. We have been coming here for a few years this will be the last. When we got to the hotel it seemed like we were inconveniencing them. When we got our rooms they were muggy.

Room was clean and beds very comfortable. Location is right on the beach. Pool is great. Plumbing is old so toilet hard to flush & tub drain was slow. Towel bar fell off the wall. Nightclub just across the street so music is loud at night.

We liked this location, however, the room signed to us, the stopper in the bathtub broke, we couldn’t take bath, shower was ok! It is clean! The AC is old and was a bit noisy when it was on. Overall it was a good experience!

Right on the beach with the pool overlooking the water. The partial ocean view was still amazing. The staff were all so helpful and kind. They were always smiling and giving their best. We also rented their bikes and rode around Mission Bay. Well worth the stay!

This was the perfect hotel for our stay. The loction is perfect, there is a gate to walk right out to the beach and is very close to restaurants and night life. They have bike rentals and beach stuff to keep you busy during your stay. The room was super cute and the pool and view were amazing. The staff was also very friendly! We will stay here again

Location is excellent. Parking is expensive. There was a noise within the building, a dripping noise, that was noticeable at night. I used a white noise machine to mask it. We did speak to the desk about it. We only stayed 3 nights and checked out before they looked into it.

The location is amazing. Right on the beach. Close to lots of good eats. Recommend getting a 2nd or 3rd floor room with a balcony overlooking beach. Room was clean, updated and comfortable. Check in day was great. However Check out day was rough. Tried to sleep in, but so much loud noise for renovations and the Zephyr Café stunk. Rude woman working there and coffee was terrible. So I would recommend hotel. But staff could be better and skip cafe.

Beach view is the best on the boardwalk! Lots of loungers and beach chaises to relax and take in the ocean and people parade!

Our room and the property overall was well maintained. The staff that we encountered were all very polite and helpful. Pool and hot tub were great, wish I could've stayed longer to enjoy. Wish they had more food options in the Cafe . The location of the hotel was very convenient.

This is our second stay at Wayfarer Pac Beach. Great experience both times...would highly recommend to anyone visiting the beaches. Blaze and entire front desk staff who worked during our stay made sure that we were well taken care of, went out of their way to accommodate me and my spouse. The hotel is in a great location...rooms and rest of facilities are kept clean and well maintained. Considering how great the staff has treated us each stay...makes it hard to want to stay anywhere else when visiting San Diego.

The parking is pricey but i guess thats CA for you! Clean rooms, microwave, fridge saved money for food so we just heated up leftovers from restaurants. Pool is heated and plush cumfy seating! Hot tub was so relaxing 😌 pool towels included in room, added bonus! We did have some issues with our room- bathroom door lock and tub drain didn’t work properly but they fixed it same day! TV Remote outdated and never worked right and no streaming apps, just tv but we had a tablet to watch our movie apps. We requested our trash taken out later in the day and some more coffee cups but no one ever came. Over all it was a great experience, hotel and location! Will definitely be back!

Very outdated property. They are currently making renovations and I hope they make it to the rooms. View was as expected and advertised. The cleaning staff was being super loud very early in the morning and didn’t really seem to care if they woke anyone up.

Overall very happy with the our stay here. Staff was great, housekeeping was awesome, nothing flashy, just a good quiet well kept hotel on the beach.

The pool and the view of the ocean were great. Very convenient walk to bars, restaurants, and the ocean board walk. Beach access was perfect. Very friendly staff and we even got to check in early. Will stay again as we enjoyed are stay.

It’s the perfect location. My family loves this place. We stay here a few times a year if it’s just our little family. What great is I can park and never have to leave cus everything is either walking distance or e-bike Nothing, I have no complaints

LOCATION - Hotel is right on the boardwalk next to the beach, which was very nice and not crowded. Our room was listed as a "partial view of the ocean"; our small patio looked out directly over the hotel pool and to the ocean...very nice view. There were plenty of restaurants nearby.

Very clean! Housekeeping was very consistent and all staff were friendly and attentive. The walls between our room and a connecting room were THIN. We could hear every word of normal conversation between our neighbors, and I’m sure they could hear ours. Every. Single. Word.

First I will start with the positive things about this establishment. It is right on the beach, pacific beach to be exact. There is a lot to see and do in the area. A nice path to walk, restaurants, bars, etc. Upon arrival, the staff was very courteous and accommodating when checking In. The hot tub and pool area is a bit small but still pretty nice. It has an ocean view. Now for the not so positive parts. The room was old and smelled musty. The bathroom sink was probably the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel. The shower had no barrier, so water just drained into the middle of the bathroom next to the toilet. So essentially you can expect to get wet feet, even when you don’t want to. I have never seen anything like it. Now to the worst part, if you don’t pay the exorbitant premium fee for an ocean view room, you will be banished to a second building with views of a plethora of questionable homeless people. I was followed by a deranged man in a bath robe. There was another barefoot man sweeping the ground with a towel starting at 5am. Another man nearby my room screaming obscenities at passersby and birds. The whole area smelled of urine and bodily fluids. I don’t think that the price per night aligned with what I was subjected to at this establishment and they should really put effort into cleaning that disaster up. Overall the staff was nice and doing their best, but I think some improvements can be made regarding the other things mentioned.

Overall great place to stay. Parking was ample, staff was friendly and late checkout was free. Night clubnext door was loud until about 10 or 1030, and room view was of a parking lot, but room smelled great and lobby was decorated very cute and included a cafe for convenience. Pool had great view of the beach and we were but steps from the sand. Coffee maker didnt work in the room, but with so many great places to walk to, we didnt mind.

Location Not handicap accessible. Buildings difficult to access if in a wheelchair or have any mobility issues. There is 1 handicap spot in garage and if full there is no way to access the hotel elevators unless dropped off in garage

The facility and staff was great it was my second time visiting The Wayfarer with my girlfriend. We like it's walking distance to the beach and some good food places off the strand. I plan on returning. I didn't like paying $40 a day for parking and the tv wasn't smart tv to stream/watch my own apps.

Location is fantastic. Parking is expensive but they did give us a discount. The AC was dripping and broke in one room, and in general the AC was just a bit hard to figure out.

We did not have hot water for two days and staff at first acted confounded when later maintenance admitted the entire second floor was out. The pool area is loud because everything echoes off the U shape of the building. Lots of kids which made it worse and they never left the hot tub area for hours. The new rehab is just lipstick on an old Best Western. So overpriced and molding up already.

If you are looking to be a few steps away from the beach, this is it! The room was nice. Everything you needed is within walking distance. There are rentals available if needed too such as bikes, beach towels, boogie boards, umbrellas. The hot tub and pool were great! The whole experience was amazing!

Booked this stay for my daughters birthday. The property was perfect! Our stay couldn't have been any better. Location was great, the rooms had everything we needed and very comfortable beds and parking available to accommodate all vehicle types.

Everything was nice and clean and the partial ocean view was amazing. Though it was very clean, because of the age of the property and some furniture items it did feel a little rundown and very used. The rooms themselves could use a bit of an upgrade. The location and pool and lounging beds/chairs were very up to date and clean and the caves straight to the beach is such a plus to have!

The pillow situation is totally personal as these pillows may be great for the vast majority. The hotel is right on the beach and if you have an ocean view balcony you can hear the waves all night it is so peaceful if you crack the door and have the screen shut. We absolutely loved it. It is close to coffee and several restaurants. We will be back.

It is an older hotel but the location is perfect, right on the beach. It was clean and the staff were very helpful and made an effort to make it comfortable for us. We were in town due to my brother being in the hospital and passing away which caught everyone by surprise because he was healthy. Needless to say, it was a difficult time but being near the ocean was comforting.

On promenade and close to many restaurants and cafes, grocery store, etc. Narrowest parking spots I have seen since NYC pay to park garages, bring your smallest vehicle.

One evening we had a Hari Krishna group doing their thing under our balcony but they eventually moved on. Close to lots of good food options. Ice cream at Pacific Beach Ice Cream is the best!

Rooms were clean, and stocked daily. The location is everything, really, right on the beach, walking distance to restaurants and shops.

A stand out was Zephyr, the lobby cafe and bar. Outstanding g coffee and a good selection of single serving alcoholic drinks and snacks.

Our room had a “partial” ocean view, but with a very well placed wall of mirrors we actually had an ocean view all the time! The room was large, clean & comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. But the real star of this hotel is the beach access and the amazing views! I would definitely stay here again!

The hotel staff was great. We had a partial ocean view, and it was very noisy. We did not realize the restaurant across the street turns into a nightclub. We could also help our neighbors footsteps all night long above us.

Our stay at The Wayfarer Hotel in San Diego was awesome! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The room was very clean, and it was our first time booking a partial ocean view—and it was still amazing. We could hear the waves at night, which was so relaxing. It worked out perfectly for our family because we brought our son. We also had a pool view, which was beautiful, and it allowed our son to enjoy playing in the pool while we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves too. We highly recommend this hotel. Every time we’ve stayed here, it has been nothing but perfect. We can’t wait to come back!

The AC in our room is broken and we could not get a new room but just a fan to bare through the rest of the stay.

The room was run down, carpet frayed at the entry and the bathroom shower not well lit. The bed was sagging and not comfortable and the pillows were very stiff.great location though.

The Wayfarer Hotel and staff provided an absolutely incredible stay. My room was clean, comfortable and quiet with an amazing view of the ocean. The pool area provided a heated pool, hot tub, firepit, sunbeds and a nice size TV. Easy access to the beach, with a wide variety of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Beach chairs and bikes are available at reasonable fees. Much gratitude to Blais and Team for an outstanding experience at the Wayfarer. Already looking forward to my next stay!

Beautiful beachfront view just above the strand on the third floor - slept with the slider open and listened to the waves all night. This place was so peaceful!

The staff was pleasant and helpful. The hotel has been updated but their HVAC system seems to be outdated. The system in our initial room was not working and we were moved to a new room. The second room, the air conditioning did not work properly. It would go on, but it wouldn’t stay on. The parking is expensive as well as the limited coffee and food they offer.

The decor is charming with a retro flair. The hot tub and pool was fantastic for coffee in the sunshine and sunset. Would stay again.

The beach view was a nice look to the water however multiple rooms have the same access and if everyone is out at the same time it is not a private area.

Some things to note: parking in their lot is $40 a day, but good luck finding parking elsewhere. They do have beach rentals such as chairs and umbrellas that are $15 for the day rental which was very convenient. I would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone visiting the area.

The pool and hot tub were fantastic. Access to the beach just steps away and the convenience of parking and beach rentals were unmatched! Highly recommend and hope to return!

My room was in the pool deck which was fantastic. You have a reserved chair right outside your room if you are the pool deck. The beach is just steps away. You can also rent bike and boogie board, etc from the hotel. I would definitely stay again! Very close to LaJolla and Downtown. Pretty much everything was under a 20 minute drive with traffic. You were guaranteed a parking space which was fantastic.

The rooms are extremely old and have a very unpleasant smell. The carpet is very old and looks worn out. The bathrooms flood when you shower because of the way they are built, and Wayfarer is aware of this issue but doesn’t seem to care. They also have a sewer problem because the water doesn’t drain properly when you shower, which is quite gross. The balcony is very unpleasant and outdated. The blinds are moldy and falling apart. They said the pool is heated, but it was freezing. The lady who checked us in had a terrible attitude. Overall, this place is horrible.

Hidden gem! Perfect location on the beach, pool and not-gross hot tub. Easy access to the best restaurants in Pacific Beach and convenient surf lessons right there on the beach! Board walk along beach felt safe and offered great vibe day and night. Hotel staff was amazing, cleaned room and fresh towels daily. Parking was easy. Stayed with 2 teen boys who loved the area, surfing, boogie boarding and great food nearby. Highly recommend this hotel!

The power went out during my stay as well. I tripped over the side of the bed and hurt my ankle. Grateful i didnt land on the carpet though. The walls are paper thin so you can expect to hear the conversations from others...shame, the view is breathtaking. I hope they upgrade the hotel soon. Shout out to the staff for doing there best! You can tell they are hard working folks.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely appointed. For a “city view,” we actually had a nice glimpse of the ocean, which was a pleasant surprise. The beds were very comfortable, and the water pressure was great. The only downside was that a couple of the rooms had a slight mildew smell. Parking at $40 a night is steep, especially considering how tight the spaces are, but overall, we enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay here again.

Room had an angled view of the beach and a direct view of the parking lot. Many public sound disruptions throughout the night but that is beach living for you.

Room was stuffy, dingy, and outdated. “Room service” was nothing more than a frozen breakfast sandwich thrown in a microwave. It was loud and felt unsafe. Completely overpriced for what you get.

We love staying here. Staff is soo nice. Only thing, we found a huge huge roach in the bathroom. I was soo bummed. I know bugs happen, i notified the front desk.

Love this hotel, it’s right on the beach. The pool area is amazing. It faces the ocean with great views. The staff are amazing. This is our second time in a year staying here and Stephanie and Monika are both great!

Almost all good, including the friendly staff and the super convenience to the beach! But except for the initial glitch in the beginning. The light switch non-existent… there was no light switch as soon as you enter. There was another one, but I forgot. It’s still all a good place!

The staff were very accommodating to my concerns. The part I didn’t like is they charge $40.00 a night to park which is ridiculous. It is an older hotel but is kept clean. The location is convenient but I think next time we will stay at newer hotel.

This was an excellent choice for a stay near Pacific Beach. I had an excellent view of the ocean, and I could walk to practically any food or shopping that I needed.

Loved it! Hotel itself was awesome with an amazing view. Great sound proofing too as there was some beach tournament going on with loud music, but we couldn't tell until we opened the screen door. Amazing restarsunts around there too. Only thing was the beach area directly in front was more for surfers, as the waves were a bit stronger. A lifeguard patrol also had told us to move further down the beach if we wanted to swim, but that wasn't the hotel's fault.

I was very hesitant to book a room at this property because I had read so many mixed reviews and I wasn’t sure what to trust. Honestly, I am so glad I did end up booking because my only issue with this property is that they make it SO hard to go home!! My boyfriend and I stayed for 4 days and 3 nights and everything was absolutely amazing! We have recently stayed at resorts in that same area and nothing compares. This property was very well kept and clean, the location is outstanding, the staff was very nice and welcoming, the views were INCREDIBLE, and the AC gets ice cold in the room which is a huge deal for me! We already can’t wait to return!

Think “spirit airlines” charges with “extended stay” facilities (dirty and smells moldy). You get charged hotel prices just bc it is next to the boardwalk, but it’s truly a motel. Theres no restaurant available but an overpriced coffee place. You have to walk across the parking lot to get to the front desk. The deposit charged is actually an open tab to all the things they try to charge you. Paid $300+ a night and there weren’t even complementary bottles of water. Even the chairs by the pool are “for rent”. Find a better place in this area.

We had a great stay. Our room walked out to the pool area. Pool area was great and I enjoyed going to the beach directly from the pool area. Weekend evening cocktail bar was a nice touch. Had breakfast and coffee on property. It was quick and convenient. Will be back.

I booked two rooms separately through Expedia and each room came with a $45 parking credit. The hotel would only allow one credit even though each reservation came with that credit. This was very disappointing. Also, the property was very clean but the carpet in my room had a hole in it! This was no big deal but the for the price I paid for each room this is something I would not expect. I told them about it when I left so hopefully this will be fixed for the next guest.

If your looking to be close and walk to everything, perfect spot. If your trying to hang out by the pool, great spot. Biggest down fall, room size, Ocean front rooms are so small, 2 people for a weekend is perfect, don't bring a lot of luggage, you have limited space for everything. The size of the room and the price you pay, your paying for the location not the room. Ocean front isn't worth the money

This is my seventh time visiting the Wayfair Hotel in San Diego. I like the fact that the hotel is next to the Pacific Ocean. It has a swimming pool and hot tub that face out towards the ocean. It has easy access from the swimming pool area to walk down to a boardwalk where you could ride a bike. You can walk down to the sandy beach and ocean from the boardwalk.

Great pool and location in PB. The view from the balcony was incredible and the hotel is walkable to lots of restaurants and things to do. Our favorite part was hearing the ocean waves from our room.

Room was clean and comfortable. The view in the pool area is amazing. A lot of dining options with a walking distance.

If you want to be close to the beach, then this is a nice property. The pool area in particular faces right onto the beach and is really very nice. The rooms however, are just fair. For $500+ a night I really expected more. The room was very basic as were the amenities and it didn't feel that clean to me. But you are really just paying for the location. The staff was very nice and responsive. When we moved into our room, the tub plug was pulled out broken and dirty, the Safe didn't work, the toilet flushed slowly, and one of the towels was dirty. I reported all of these things the next day and every single one of them was fixed immediately, which I appreciated. But they should have done better.

This was our second stay at the Wayfarer. Amazing and convenient location. Right on the beach. Splurged for an ocean view room which was amazing for sunsets but we weren’t actually in the room that much. Perfect for a stay all day at the beach spot. Can come back to the pool area to rinse in the shower, warm up in the hot tub, or take a sand free plunge in the pool. We will come back next time we make it to San Diego.

Quite frankly I was very disappointed that I paid extra for this place over the one next door due to the ratings, could have saved myself a TON of money across the parking lot.

The proximity to the ocean and boardwalk is the reason we stay here. The price for the quality is getting worse each year. The beds are worn and need replaced. The bathtub would not drain. Overall the cleanliness is worse from previous stays.

Lounging area is fairly nice, and provides a direct outlet to the beach walk. Pool is small but OK for cooling off. Room was small (ours was an oceanfront on the bottom floor), but neat and tidy. Parking is $40 per day.
