The staff was the best part of the stay - they were great. Would give 5 stars for them alone. The beach amenities and bikes were a plus and made it fun. Room was older and needs updating but nice patio and great to have such convenience to beach and ocean walk all the way to Mission Beach.

The ONLY hotel we will stay when visiting Pacific Beach!! Ocean front room. Most comfortable beds and bedding! Pillows fantastic ! Robes provided for after showering, large soft white towels. All amenities PLUS wonderful pool, hot tub and cafe with food and drinks most of the day and night . Staff cleaned out room daily and provided fresh towels and chocolates at night . They turned on low lighting and music too. So fabulous!! And the VIEW! Oh, and it’s is quiet and serene! Nicest staff!

Other than that 10/10 stars and would consider PTH for our vacation getaway next summer.

The Coastal 2-Double Queen Beds Room was spacious, clean and a gorgeous ocean view from the spacious balcony! The bathroom was spacious with a stand alone shower and jacuzzi tub. The service from the front desk to the employees who cook the meals and clean the rooms and the property throughout were very welcoming and friendly. When we visit San Diego again this is our home away from home.

The pool and hot tub were fabulous. The view was beautiful. It was clean and comfortable and the staff was very solicitous. Nothing.

Very relaxed hotel, spacious rooms, great beds, very clean. We stayed on the ground floor with a terrace door opening right on to the pool which felt for us quite nice and easy. There is some noise from the pool area but nothing major and it gets quiet in the evening. The restaurant is indeed small (I have seen other reviews complaining about this) but the food quality is good, there is plenty of seating outside, and they serve the pool area too the whole day. They serve freshly made cookies every afternoon, never forgot to put water bottles and new coffee pods in our room each day, and put chocolates on your pillow in the evening. The wifi works great and there's plenty of towels. They are not fussy about you using an unlimited amount of pool towels either, and you can take them to the beach too. The Boardwalk, which passes right along the hotel pool, is lively (but not annoyingly noisy) during the evenings and there are many eating places in walking distance. On the last evening, I had lost my earplugs and the guys at the reception run out and got me a new set. Overall lovely hotel, I would definitely stay there again! the only mild complain is maybe that they have sliding wooden interior window shutters which - though they do look quite pretty - do not close down very well so there is quite a bit of light in the room during the night from the lamps just outside the window. But not a major nuisance!

This hotel never disappoints. We’ve been coming for years and each time it’s a perfect vacation. The hotel is very well maintained, clean, and comfortable. The location is prime for walking and enjoying quiet evenings. And the staff is incredibly kind and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel. The price per night is in the higher end but not unreasonable. If you’re able to splurge this is the place to stay!

We loved our stay here. The property is not huge (which can sometimes be overwhelming) but had all the amenities and services of a large resort. Heated pool overlooking the ocean was also nice. Food was quality.

We love this hotel. It's in a perfect location. They treat you like family. It's got a really boutique feel.

It was not really a four star hotel as advertised. It was clean, people were friendly, but the vibe was a very dated property. We paid a nonrefundable fee but ultimately opted to go to a nicer property in Coronado.

A beautiful location. They forgot our birthday banner upon check in but made everything right quickly and comped drinks. Our son loved the pool and the service was prompt. We can’t wait to be back!

Staff was very helpful. Particularly liked the extra care and flourish the room attendant took with folding the towels. Front desk staff terrific. Overall the rooms could use updating, but the views and location can't be beat.

The staff were friendly and helpful! Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. And the location of the hotel was excellent, right on the beach and very walkable! We enjoyed going for a bike ride on the hotel beach cruisers, too! We would definitely stay again :-).

We had an amazing experience at Pacific Terrace Hotel. The property is situated right on the beach front in a great location, close walking distance to cafes, bars and restaurants in Pacific Beach and close to La Jolla. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The pool area and terrace was excellent for relaxing and enjoying the sunset. Above all else, the staff were exceptional. They were very professional and friendly, and always willing to help and provide recommendations on things to do. To Mason at the front desk and Maddy in the Terrace Cafe, thank you for your hospitality and warmth, you truly made our visit to San Diego and we will be back! N/A

You can’t beat the location, charm, and the literal front row view (and access) to the ocean. We saw singles and families all enjoying the property. The boardwalk is one step away, the beach access just as close. I liked that the property wasn’t huge, that’s why it felt more intimate, and at night, it was just really pretty around the pool. Staff were consistently friendly, top notch manners. Room was well appointed and the ocean view didn’t disappoint. The property was quiet too. Sure there was a kid or two having fun in the pool now and then, but once the pool was closed, it was very serene (pool was never overly loud at all!) Nothing but good vibes and good things to say about the Pacific Terrace Hotel. We’re a “slightly” older couple and I’d recommend to anyone looking for a nice vacation spot with quiet after hours. Thanks for a great stay!

The location was great. They had construction going on that was loud and obnoxious. I wish they would have let us know ahead of time of the construction.

The number 1 thing in my book is location. It's located right on the beach a small walk down some stairs not belonging to the hotel that are a bit slippery because of the sand that's built up on them. The facility is absolutely beautiful and clean. The employees at the hotel care about the guest and go above and beyond. The pool are is a little bit small but that's ok if you get your chaise lounger early. The food is exceptionally good however a portion of the menu is made by a local restaurant that's right next door. We are right now planning to go next year. We can't wait.

Pacific Beach a Great place to go. Our room was switched from an ocean front to an ocean view room. Supposedly because something had happened to the ceiling in our booked room. At checkin I was told I would receive a financial adjustment. At checkout that had not happened and because I booked with a third party the refund would have to come from them. At this time I am not sure if that has happened

We had a partial ocean view room and loved it. We heard no pool noise or voices from the ocean walk which we preferred. The room was very spacious and lovely. Housekeeping came daily and had turn down service in the evenings. The front desk crew was outstanding. All were friendly, helpful and with million dollar smiles. We valeted our car and loved that. The location was the best. Right on the beach. I will come back often. This is one of my favorite vacation spots now.

Excellent property! The room was spacious and beautiful. The location was close to good restaurants and made most visits walkable. It was also nice the hotel provided beach chairs. The pool area is small but never get overcrowded. We stayed for 5 nights so had may interactions with the staff and they were always pleasant and helpful. You won’t regret staying here!

We loved it here from the second we walked in. Friendly and most help staff. Every part of hotel super clean. Chairs, umbrella and beach toys included in your room reservation. Board walk and beach views simply beautiful. One of my favorite places and can’t wait to return.

Gorgeous view from the spacious patio (we had a partial ocean view room which was still an amazing view), clean/spotless and spacious room, comfortable bed, super friendly/helpful staff and great amenities (heated pool, hot tub, beach towels/chairs/toys available to use). You are steps away from beach access and walking distance to tons of restaurants. The beach was also very kid friendly and was very shallow for quite a distance. We didn't pay for parking and were able to find street parking fairly easily (easier than find nyc parking but mid-westerns may find it annoying.) The boardwalk is right there and the hotel provides bikes, although we didn't use them. Would happily stay there again and whole heartedly recommend to others! Pillows were on the flat side.

Perfect location, spacious room, great view of the ocean and efficient, friendly staff. Close to lots of restaurants, pubs and bars. Needs a little TLC and updating: old furniture and very old carpets. Gym is very much sub-par, hidden in the basement where the parking garage is. Disappointing.

The hotel staff were so kind and helpful. You can use their concierge services to help book the excursions including passes for the zoo and sea world. The hotel is very close to the entrance to the beach. This being said, with a partial ocean view on the first level-it is not that loud. The pool is heated so it wasn’t too cold on a 65 degree day.

Excellent stay of 4 days is only the beginning of my description of the experience. Wonderful in all phases of the business to accommodate the traveler from another State.

The staff across the board was outstanding,welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly. It really made a difference and elevated the entire experience. The hotel itself is beautiful. The pool is perfectly situated overlooking the beach, kept at an ideal temperature, and the hot spa was a great bonus,especially since it stays open until 10 PM. Breakfast was delicious, and having piña coladas by the pool felt like perfection. The kids loved the s’mores trays in the evening, which made for a fun and memorable treat. And the sunset's truly unforgettable. Location wise, this hotel is hard to beat. After exploring the area, nothing else seemed to offer the same combination of views, access, and overall value. The hotel also provides thoughtful amenities like bikes, beach chairs, towels, and even sand toys for kids. I’d highly recommend renting the bikes on your first day,it’s a great way to get familiar with the area and see what’s nearby. We visited Seal Rock and La Jolla Cove,both were incredible,and also enjoyed trips to the zoo and SeaWorld. There are

Room was nice and clean for our family of 4 (2 teens). The front desk and cafe staff were wonderful and made our stay sweeter, and we appreciated the complimentary beach chairs. Property is not brand new but is well kept and quaint, and location was great for both walking places as well as hopping in the car to see the universities, La Jolla, the Midway - pretty central to everything. Would stay here again!

Outstanding location with incredible staff! So many amenities included between beach chairs & umbrellas, warm cookies in the afternoon , fire tables for a night cap, and chocolates at turn-down. Nothing- we had three generations staying across 3 rooms and everyone absolutely loved the hotel!

The room was very nice and clean. I didn't get to use the spa or other amenities because I had other plans off the property, however everything from the professionalism and courteous welcoming of the staff to the comfort, space, and overall vibe of the Pacific Terrace was immaculate. My significant other remarked multiple times how this is an incredibly nice hotel and I'm so appreciate for the amazing experience.

You come here for the view, and specifically the proximity to the beach and the PB beachfront, and it doesn't disappoint. It really is cool to sit in a hot tub and watch the world go by. Very close to numerous restaurants. The free beach cruiser bikes are also a plus, as the adjacent beach walk is perfect for cruising. Even though the weather didn't turn out for some of our stay, we had a great time. Adding in $40+ for parking on top of everything else is a bit much. Easy enough to park on the nearby streets in February, but maybe less so during the peak season.

Yes but people changed into bik8nis right next to the spa. We had to leave yhe balconyand go inside. There is no supervision. Kids swam in it with snorkels as if it were a mini pool. I broke my toe going in from the balcony not lifting my foot high enough to clear the metal frame. Loved seeing dolphins

This is an absolutely wonderful property. Rooms are large with large patios. Pool and hot tub are well heated. Service is above and beyond. They gave us Beach chairs and towels.... Had breakfast boxed... And had a family breakfast on the beach!

The hotel is an older property in the best possible way. The rooms are more spacious than most modern hotels, many include kitchenettes, and the entire design clearly prioritizes maximizing ocean views for every room. You can tell the property is exceptionally well maintained and genuinely cared for. In an era when so many hotels feel corporatized and generic, it was incredibly refreshing to stay at a locally owned property with character and intention. The beds were very comfortable, and I highly recommend booking an ocean-view room—the views and direct beach access are phenomenal. We used the pool every day; it was spotless, well maintained, and inviting, which really reflects the cleanliness and care of the entire facility. Breakfast on site was excellent, and Jeffson and Sergio truly made our mornings. They were warm, welcoming, and a joy to see each day. Small touches,like having multiple newspapers available,made it easy to slow down and actually enjoy being on property. You could easily stay at the hotel all day, enjoying the pool, beach, and views without ever needing to leave. Pacific Beach is fantastic, with the boardwalk just steps away and great beach access. Pacific Beach itself has a lively scene that may not appeal to everyone (there’s a noticeable bar and tattoo culture), but there are also many excellent food options

There are beach chairs bikes umbrellas …There is now all day dining and the food is excellent. We have stayed there periodically for 25 years and each time we go some new wonderful amenity is added.

After trying 2 other hotels in the area we came back to our favorite hotel in PB. Big enough to have the amenities you want yet small enough to fill comfy and cozy. The staff is always super friendly and very helpful. Spend the extra money and get the full ocean view room.

Incredible customer service! Very courteous and considerate staff. Very attentive to the needs of the young couple on their engagement--room upgrade, champagne and personal note were very nice touches!

I’ve been coming here for YEARS! Since 2000! It’s my go to spot when I’m back home in California. The staff is amazing. As always.

At $57 total for the one night day we didn’t expect much and to our surprise it was very clean, staff was very helpful, could not have asked for more. Do not be fooled by the low price, it will surprise you, you won’t regret to stay.

The room was clean, the staff very friendly and the location is perfect! There are many great local restaurants nearby that are a walkable distance! The food from the hotel is a little expensive due to the convenience of buying it there but if you don’t mind paying a little extra it is good food!

Our experience at Pacific Terrace was wonderful. Every employee was helpful and friendly, the beach chairs for our use were very convenient, and the room was large, comfortable and clean. They even sent a bottle of wine to the room to help celebrate my husband’s birthday. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Beautiful place and I will be there again. The only complaint I have is the mattress needs to be replaced. But everything was so nice, I hate to even mention it.

The ocean views are beautiful but not sure the room I paid for was any different than the other rooms and the price seemed very high for the quality of the room which was pretty outdated. The dining service is terrible. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. I don't think I would stay here again, we like very upscale and this was OK, but more like 3 stars than 5.

The location was perfect for our family to really immerse ourselves in the Pacific Beach neighborhood. Lots of great restaurants and coffee shops nearby and easy access to the beach. The hotel staff members were incredibly friendly and helpful and provided us with all the beach accessories we needed to have a great time.

Amazingly trip turned around- after expecting our 30th Anniv to include an “ocean view” room after much research & selecting Pacific Terrace (& flying in from NorCal)- we were put in a 1-king room but no view of the ocean. Just the street side. Room was FANTASTIC! With full mini kitchen & all but we called front desk & they worked with they next morn & put us in RM 112. Excellent. Plus chimp’s champagne & charquetsrie! Last night was noisy with small kids above but managed not to let it spoil our stay. Great experience overall!!

Stayed 3 nights at Pacific Beach and the hotel was excellent. Right on the beach and beautiful view of the ocean from our balcony. Parking under the hotel was great too. Only complaint was the cost. $44 per night for parking and fees were high in addition to the nightly rate. But it's really an awesome place to stay - if you want to pay for it.

The staff were wonderful- very friendly and attentive. The grounds and facilities were clean and well maintained. The hotel location is fantastic--right on the Pacific Beach boardwalk with beach access, and many shops and restaurants near by. Pacific Terrace Hotel offers free bike rentals and sand toys. Parking is difficult to find so clients are pretty much obligated to park in their underground garage at $44.00 per night. Also, if you get a balcony room facing Diamond Street you will have to deal with some street lighting getting through the shutters and some parking traffic. We stayed in room 202 which had an ice machine near the door which can get very noisy throughout the night.

There’s so much to do within walking distance that we barely used our car rental. The staff was welcoming and eager to help. Pacific Terrace is big enough to offer fantastic amenities, while being small enough for personal treatment. We will absolutely come back!

As an added Bonus the hotel offers free bike rentals and beach equipment. Every day at 4 pm the hotel provides free delicious cookies! This is the second time staying here. Me and my friend were celebrating birthdays and wanted a great place to relax for a few days. The 2 queen beds were not very comfortable and we couldn't sleep in the same bed because we both move around a lot. If we had a king then we could have. On our last day the hot water wasnt working and couldn't shower before checking out. Which was disappointing. We were not offered compensation for this despite us checking out that day we still would have liked hot water for showering and washing our faces. The room was nice and clean and they set up a banner and some champagne. I dont drink champagne so a desert would have been better for us both.

Drifted off to sleep each night to the peaceful sounds of the Pacific surf. Morning coffee on the balcony watching the surfers and dolphins. The food was AMAZING and the hospitality was top notch. Our room was SPOTLESS clean. (I used to own a motel in the mountains of NC so I am very observant of cleaning/housekeeping practices) If we are ever on the west coast again, we will definitely stay at Pacific Terrace!

Only problem was that our room overlooked the parking lot and were had interrupted sleep from people partying in the parking lot at 1am

My husband and I stayed here for a week while visiting San Diego...and what a great choice! It's a little boutique hotel facing the Pacific Beach, with breathtaking beach-front access! Aside from the views of the beach (the pool and the walkway!), the rooms were beautifully renovated and generously appointed. Thanks to Mason/Concierge, I was able to upgrade our room to beach-front views just days before our stay...and this really made all the difference, as the terrace views were truly picture-perfect. Also, service was first-rate all the way...as each and every staff member was so friendly, gracious and helpful throughout our stay. Truly a little piece of paradise in San Diego!

The hotel was amazing and we will definitely be back for another stay! Very clean when we arrived and staff tidied up our room daily for us. The family suite was perfect size for a family of four with a separate living room space and balcony for parents to hangout after kids are asleep. Hotel is within close proximity to shopping and dining. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The pool was perfectly warm to complement the ocean breeze. Only steps away from the beach. Only things to complain about was the additional $40/day to park on-site at the hotel, which seems strange to pay to park at the hotel you already paid an exponential amount to stay at for the week. Also, the TV channels were very limited and we couldn’t find a way to use streaming platforms, so for the couple hours in the evenings/mornings when our kids wanted to watch tv there were very limited options available and even fewer that were kid friendly. But beyond the parking and TV complaints, we enjoyed every second of our stay and would stay again and again!!

Overall I really enjoyed my stay there. The pool are was nice. Room and patio was large. Location great! The bedding definitely could have been better one bed had a cozy comforter and the other bed the comforter was so worn out it felt like just a sheet. Ceiling in bathroom was falling apart.

Super friendly and beautiful property. So many places to walk to and incredible views. We stayed on the bottom floor with a partial view and it was spectacular. Usually i like to be up high but this was perfect. My son surfed and walked right out on our terrace and the pool was steps away. Also, we had amazing robes to wear! Great stay!

This hotel is not the newest, and things like the bathroom could use a upgrade (poor lighting, shared tub and shower, older faucet fittings). Where the hotel absolutely excels is the location, and ability to conveniently park in the lower garage, do it yourself on parking and loading, access to EV charging, etc. The only reason I did not rate it as "excellent": this time, we got a junior suite that had one of the more limited ocean views. But, it was "full" as promised. Bottom line: this hotel never disappoints and we love that it is old school in what it offers, at a very fair price for the amazing location.

The best. This is one of my favorite properties in the world. I traveled with my family and stayed in a family suite. We had a private view of the ocean, enjoyed fresh cookies daily, and had superb food and beverage service at the oceanfront pool, which is heated 365 days a year. Everyone who works there seemed genuinely happy and amazingly helpful, whether at the front desk, those you see in the hallways, or those who wait on you or clean your room. Everything is super clean. And oh yeah, a big bonus is that there are beach toys, chairs, and beach umbrellas galore. Simply superb. Update: I just checked in again (been here many times at this point). It's as great as ever. It's probably my favorite hotel in the U.S. and maybe even anywhere. Great for business, vacations, and families.

Hotel was extremely accommodating. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. They were eager to helping give information on local places to go, including discounts to the zoo, Sea World, etc. Valet parking was so fast and convenient. The room had an amazing ocean view, very clean and spacious. The pool was heated, which was nice for the chilly evenings. The hot tub great. The hotel is so close to the boardwalk, so many places within walking distance. Amenities at the hotel were nice, small bar but good drinks. The free lemonade, iced tea, and cookies were a nice touch. The room had a fridge, microwave, sink, and dishes to use. So great for heating leftovers from the great places to eat in the area. Definitely would stay here again! Great experience for first time to San Diego and West coast

I would like to give a special shout-out to Ashlynn from the front office staff. Her exceptional customer service made a big difference during my stay. Even though it’s not a five-star hotel, she went above and beyond to ensure all my needs were met. I believe the manager, Meredith Pelto, should recognize Ashlynn for her outstanding service, as she was a key reason I chose to give a four-star review. On the other hand, I did have some issues. My room wasn’t ready until 4 PM, despite my request for an earlier check-in. Additionally, I found the front office staff, Justin and Jasleen, to be less than helpful and in need of more training in customer service. Lastly, while the concierge assured me of luxury transportation to and from the zoo and airport, I ended up with a Volvo instead of the promised Suburban or Escalade. I paid for luxury transportation and should have received it. Overall the experience was moderately pleasant.

Beyond the beautifully appointed, spacious rooms and ocean view patios, the unexpected touches including beach chairs and boogie boards, complimentary fresh baked cookies, bottles of water, and chocolates just wowed us and felt like such thoughtful touches. This hotel goes above and beyond in service and in its offerings to make your stay wonderful. The staff and concierge were warm and hospitable. Such a delight. We will return and look forward to it.

Amazing property with ocean view

Great location. Hot tub!

Really enjoyed my stay! I had the partial ocean front room and still had a great view of the ocean. The room did overlook the street/parking lot, but it was not noisy (my room was on level 3). Beds were comfortable, room and bathroom were spacious!

We loved our short stay here! The heated pool was delightful and the coffee bar and on site dining was great. The staff helped us check out bikes and explore the boardwalk - and it was nice and quiet at night. Our autistic son loved this place- just the right speed.

Beautiful Hotel right in the middle of everything! Room was steps from the pool and could hear the ocean at night. The whole trip was so relaxing, and the staff are amazing and so helpful! We've never been to San Diego before so we couldn't have picked a better location or hotel. We'll be back for sure.

Not sure how the hotel got such a high rating, but the entire experience was very up to the standard of rating. First of all the hotel is very outdated and old. Surround the area nothing much to do unless you like clubbing/noisy bars. Breakfast restaurant interior is a joke. So outdated and worse than McDonald 20 years ago. I wouldn’t come back.

Nice hotel that’s clean with prompt room cleaning/refresh and friendly front staff. Bikes and beach chairs included. Only downside is 44$ a day parking fee. This might be optional but they don’t offer it that way. I didn’t fuss because I had some trips planned, a 7 y/oId and it was a rental. If you’re not going to be driving you can find street parking.

Small, intimate hotel. Very well kept and conveniently located, close walk to shops and restaurants and steps out to the beach. Generous room sizes and good amenities. Will be back for sure.

Staffe and service were excellent. Bathroom is huge. The view is amazing. Our room was cleaned twice a day. We got complimentary water and chocolate.

Amazing place to stay on the beach near San Diego. Rooms were clean, super spacious and great patios overlooking the water and pool area with great easy access to nearby business and beach! Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful anytime needed.

Staff is curiously friendly. They dont just smile every time you enter the lobby, they make eye contact and engage with you, even if you just saw them 2 minutes ago. They make you want to be there. Service is fatastic. You can call the front desk for any needs, or text "Ivy" (who greets you via text when you check in). As somewhat of a introvert, i love the text option. Its modern and efficient. I utilized the free bike rentals daily. The bikes are not in great condition, but they dont need to be; Its just for cruising the oceanfront. Overall the grounds were quiet. Its not big, compared to your run of the mill Holiday Inn, or the Capri next door. Our room over-looked the pool, and since we're from Minnesota and super touristy, we wanted the patio door open all the time so we could hear the ocean. This meant hearing laughing and banter a bit later into the night when we were trying to sleep. Otherwise it was peaceful and relaxing. The room itself was a two-queen ocean view. Not ideal for my wife and i, but it was either that or a king with only a partial ocean view. We opted for the full view and for us it was worth the trade. High quality amenities, huge tv (that you can link to your streaming services on your phone - loved this!). The only real complaint i have is that we were not able to turn off the patio light, so the light came through the wood slats at night making it difficult to have a dark sleeping environment.

Always a fabulous experience. We have been guests here dozens of times - It's the only hotel we stay at when visiting PB. The staff and property are remarkable and the recent refresh has made it even more inviting.

We had a great stay and really enjoyed it here as a much better option than staying in San Diego proper. Nice beach access and dining options. Located to many convenient services.

Bathroom aren't updated

Didn't like public bathroom located on south entrance of the building with 5 or 6 homeless seemingly on drugs hanging out there every day. Wife and I loved walking the board walk every morning and nice temperature hot tub and pool for chilly morning/evening. Heavy fog every morning and evening so only 1 sunset over 5 nights stay

Somedays, I wish I could stay in the hotel all day, and this is the one. Amazing views, nice staff, it is just perfect, what can I say.

This property was magic. Well taken care of (currently under construction). Lovely dining, ocean view from pool and hot tub! Loved using the beach comber bikes. Really enjoyed our stay.
