Ocean Beach Hotel

Room was smaller than expected, especially the bathroom. Other than that, the room was nice, and the location was fantastic!

We had a fantastic stay at this Oceanside hotel. The property was well maintained, the front desk team was genuinely helpful, and the location couldn’t be better — right across the beach with plenty of restaurants and cafés just a short walk away. We never had to use our car, which made the trip feel like a real vacation. Relaxing, easy, and enjoyable. We’ll book this hotel again without a second thought.

The view and location were great! If you’re looking for a quiet weekend, this location may not be the best for you as the hotel has night life and music in the streets. We were looking to be within walking distance to the beach and a lot of the restaurants and such so was great for us. Keep in mind that this hotel does NOT have elevators. Hauling all of our luggage up to the third floor was a hassle but the view made it worth it

I think the hotel has a great view and a lot of access to the whole ocean beach area. Everything is very commutable by foot and there’s a lot of good bars and food options just around the hotel. Truthfully it’s not that far from downtown maybe a 20 minute drive depending on traffic. And the staff was very helpful in finding food options and things to do.

I asked for a quiet room and she put me on the busiest street corner with drug users and bums. Do not stay at this hotel. The staff are not friendly either worst experience ever.

Not what I was expecting.that whole area is full of homeless people, they sleep all over the beach and are constantly fighting among themselves. All of them have dogs and they let them do their business everywhere. Not the hotels fault but the I still pay for it. I don’t recommend it for families.

The room was clean and our view of the beach was nice. We enjoyed our stay. There are many shops and good eats very close by as well.

Besides being a bit noisy at night, we enjoyed everything. The daily housekeeping was a plus, and the patio and common balcony areas were very nice. All of the staff was friendly and helpful.

The area around the hotel was a different story. Ocean Beach is a mix of bars, surfers, and homeless. I didn't feel in danger, but also not the best scene for a family, especially with young children. We arrived on Wednesday night, which is the "farmers market" night. This was cool at first as there was a lot of street vendors with food/goods. But by around 9pm we knew we were in for a long night. There is a drum circle every Wednesday directly across the street, the sound of heavy drums played non-stop until ~12:00pm. This along with the pop-up rave that also played until ~11:30pm, which stopped when the cops arrived to break up a fight. Made for a very loud night, and impossible to get any sleep until they shut down. Thursday night was a completely different story, The streets were quiet, scenery was beautiful. So, if you're coming for a party, then this location is perfect. If you're coming with your family or for relaxation I would avoid Wednesday nights.

Everything was wonderful. Although, the room was very small, though not as small as the bathroom. Very tight. The bed, however, was perfect! The room & the grounds were very clean, though old & charming. It is a beach town, so you get what you get.

This is an old property but newly remodeled. It is across the street from the beach, has on-site parking and a balcony facing the ocean. We'd definitely stay there again.

The beach view could be better, really depends on what room you can get. On Expedia you cannot choose individual rooms just general setups. The beach itself is nothing special compared to any other beach in San Diego. The Reviews about the smell and thin walls are true still here in 2026. There is always something going on at least when I booked through the weekend. But there are bars all the way down street, if it’s a good or bad thing is up to you. Parking was tight, if you have a wider car then it’s over. I would not stay here again.

The staff was excellent we were there for a week and our room was cleaned every day and bed changed every day you don’t get that special treatment at other more expensive hotels we have stayed at.We will definitely stay here again!

Parking was safe and easy right on the property. The beach views were amazing and staff went above and beyond! The room itself was a little outdated, but you’re paying for the Beach view and convenience!

While we did not book a room with an ocean view, you could still see the ocean when we walked out of our room. There is also an area within the courtyard to sit and look at the ocean if you did not want to cross the street to go to the beach. The housekeeping staff tidied the room each day, making the bed, emptying trash, and provided fresh clean towels. The location of the hotel is right on the corner. The beach is literally across the street and there are many shops, restaurants, and bars within walking distance. Newport Ave which runs right beside the beach has everything you would need without having to drive to other locations. We enjoyed our stay there. Highly recommend!

Room was nice, right on the beach. Close to the airport so lots of air traffic and the area gets very busy. Tv remote and coffee maker didn’t work and the door didn’t close securely and had to play with the deadbolt to get it to lock but the bed and pillows were comfortable

It’s noisy until late, late night until well past midnight. Singing and music till almost 3am, and this was on a Wednesday. Our room layout was odd with bed right by door. The bathroom layout had the toilet right up next to sink, we are smaller people and there wasn’t any room between the sink and toilet. The windows for our room were sliding doors that didn’t lock. We addressed the situation and they got one to lock and the other wasn’t looked at but the lady at front desk found us something to bar the sliding door closed at least. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable though.

Access to the beach was amazing but paid for the full ocean view but it was only visible from out on the balcony. The neighbors was pretty roust at night which is not the fault of the hotel but made a good night sleep tough.

The Ocean Beach Hotel is a nostalgic stay. Super clean and comfortable, even if it’s a little worn and tatty, and the location can NOT be beat. Get an ocean view room; the balcony overlooking the pier (currently closed) is excellent. Ocean Beach has an east coast beach town vibe and this hotel is exactly right for the location. Parking is easy and free. The placement of the toilet, practically underneath the sink, in our room was unfortunate, but nowhere near a deal breaker. Would stay again.

Can’t beat the location or the price. Great communal space on all levels to look out over the Pacific Ocean with beers bought at the corner store.

We live in Escondido and wanted to do a staycation. We picked OB because it's so dog friendly. We loved our room with the patio and the enclosed patio area. Restaurants were minutes aways. Great quick, relaxing stay!

You can’t sleep at night because these a party below my room where we stay. They’ve been screaming playing loud music at 2am. I think the hotel allowed that. The bed is uneven too. Over all the stay is ok. Location is great walking distance to anywhere.

The room in general was a good size but the bathroom is SMALL with only a pedestal sink (not ideal for girls who have make-up or self care routines) The balcony with a view of the ocean almost makes up for it. The staff seem uninterested at best. Give you the line that they are available 24/7 but with a tone that suggests they would rather not be bothered. Also, there is no elevator. Not ideal for those that have to drag but luggage up to the third floor,

Right across from Ocean Beach... was a funky, spring break kind of feel. Beautiful beach.

This property was described as “exceptional” and the photos looked great. Unfortunately when we checked in we were met with the opposite experience. It’s described as a hotel and it is definitely a motel. The rooms are TINY and smelled like old dirty mop. I explained all of this to the staff and they were very sweet but there wasn’t much they could do. We were moved to an accessible room for more space but the room itself was “updated” but you can clearly tell maintenance took short cuts. No ventilation in the bathroom and hot showers made the fire alarm go off. Overall not great I wouldn’t stay again.

Very nice outside patio and the convenience of having the beach as the backyard. Only bad thing I can say is how small the bathrooms are. The homeless and noises outside is bad but the hotel has no control of it. Other than that My family and I had a great time.

Located in heart of OB. The hotel is easy to park and right on the beach. Rooms and bathrooms are small and very clean. The room was a bit noisy—you can hear other rooms (TV, conversations) and you are in the flight path for LAX so we heard planes constantly at night. If you like being in the gritty and lively part of the beach and don’t need luxurious accommodations, this is a great, clean and convenient choice. You can walk everywhere. Great view of beach and people watching.

For a $600 3 night stay, i would have expected a bigger room. The room itself was good but the bathroom was so tiny. The sink is in front of the toilet so you have to turn to the side. The shower head was spraying out of the pipe. Looks like they tried fixing it but it got screwed on wrong. Otherwise, the property was great and the employees are so friendly. It IS noisy at night but it's not their fault. Some people play drums into the night at the beach. Would stay here again, but please make sure the ads show the small bathroom.

Clean room especially given it’s by the beach and a high traffic pet owner place. The staff was very accommodating and there was no hidden bs. The balcony facing the beach was a nice touch along with the access door that was easy access to the beach directly. It was safe and secured at night within the property. My vehicle happened to have a valuable piece of art (300 Lb) in the bed and it stayed in there untouched or vandalized. Awesome place so worth the money and time ! I’ll stay again soon !

Perfect location! The beach is just across the street. Nice patio to sit and watch the sun set. Some very comfortable beds! The coffee maker was not near an outlet so that was strange. The bathroom was nice, but super cramped. Nothing we couldn’t deal with, but a larger person it might be a struggle with the sink and toilet. Lovely balcony to sit and watch the waves. We had plenty of room for three travelers in a double queen room. Can’t wait to return

Ocean Beach Hotel is such a fantastic find! We stayed in the room w/the perfect view of the ocean. Bed was very comfortable and a good size room. Bathroom was a little small but updated. Beautiful decks on all 3 levels. Very easy access to the beach. Only downsize I would say was it could be pretty loud on the street outside until late. Esp Friday and Saturday. Nothing to do with the hotel but it is the downside to this room. Otherwise, our stay was just about perfect! Will be returning!

The location is pretty cool due to the many restaurants, food spots , coffee spots , bars walking distance. And of course the location is right in front of the beach which is amazing , the room was small and older however it was clean and comfortable with great views and not complaining for location !!

We love the hotel for the free parking and steps to the beach. It just is a little too expensive . We would go there more if the prices were lower.

Overall a pretty good experience, although I did have a couple complaints. The room felt oddly damp and I’m pretty sure it was coming from the AC unit that was placed on the wall. The other complaint is that the windows to the room didn’t have a mesh screen so if you open the window to air out the room it’s free for anyone to just jump into an open window. All in all It’s a small room but enough for everything you need. The area is the best part about it. There’s a lot to do within a walking distance. I think a 4/5 is a perfect score for it.

Staff was very helpful, congenial and hospitable and the girl even turned down my room and made my bed and cleaned up my place.While I was gone I wasn't expecting that, but I liked it when I came back I was told that was getting an ocean view room, and when I got there, the story had changed. I was told I didn't meet the criteria for what I paid with booking.com. but I was told over the phone when I was driving in from arizona, that my room was indeed an ocean view...that's my only gripe. Everything is great. My dog had a great time.

Tiny bathroom. Small sink, no vanity top. No place to even put your toothbrush. But the worst was how the toilet was placed, which was very close to the sink. You had to maneuver in sideways to sit on the toilet. Anybody with a weight problem probably couldn't do it.

The location is five-star. The service was good, and the rooms were clean but dated. Free parking is a huge bonus, and you are just steps away from the beach, which cannot be beaten for the price. This hotel also has a very nice courtyard in the center, perfect for when you want to relax and get some fresh air in a quieter environment. I would stay here again.

Great location! Beach bars and restaurants right there. Free parking. Good stock of munchies and beverages at regular prices in lobby mart. The patio is spacious and the ocean view overlooks a good place to take in the scene. We opted for the ocean view room w balcony and glad we did: you face the street but can see the ocean and pier. The non balcony rooms have just a solid wall with no view .. they are probably quieter but would be darker.

The room was spotless clean and a comfortable lovely place. The staff was welcoming which is always a plus on my book. Our room included a patio and a view of the beach.

We chose "suite" oceanview. Suite is overstating, as was really 2 beds in single room with 2 person table and small balcony. Was reasonably clean and beds very comfortable. View amazing. Bathroom beyond small, very dated room. Many things not working. Staff just made excuses and said as it was weekend nothing could be fixed. Office staff really displayed a disconnected, Oh well attitude about most requests. Because we could only have air or heat, not both, brought us a portable box fan covered in dirt and rust. Felt very overpriced. Honestly, you are paying for location and view, if you pick oceanview.

We stayed in the suite with the King bed. Best view of the ocean! Clean room, open shared patio with beach view and nice staff. Great location, lots of good food options nearby especially OB Surf Lodge for breakfast and Mike’s Tacos for lunch. Would highly recommend!

The only thing was the bathroom was very small the sink is right next to the toilet very very small but very clean and the beds were very comfortable.

We really love our stay the front desk clerks were very very friendly the rooms are very small restrooms are very small and the beds could actually be upgraded they were very uncomfortable too soft but we we dealt with it and we had a great time Ocean Beach proper is a beautiful place to visit the people are great very friendly looking forward to returning again very soon also the weather was not that great LOL it rained most of the time but we really enjoyed the ocean view.

What a great stay - an amazing and huge patio overlooking the beach and pier. We could watch the sunset and see the pier from the bed. Morning coffee on the patio was perfect. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept on in a long time. The courtyard, with lights, a fountain and three stories of tables and chairs overlooking the ocean and surfers. On top of it all they are so dog friendly and accommodating, going over the top. Great and friendly staff. Definitely will be coming back and met other regular guests as well. Perfect spot in Ocean Beach.

The hotel is very convenient and very close to the beach—it takes only one minute to walk there. It’s also in the middle of all the restaurants and bars in downtown OC. However, it’s very small compared to the price we paid; on the website it looks bigger and nicer than it actually is. Plus, it’s noisy. If you’re not a dog fan, you might want to skip this one because the hotel is dog-friendly, and the dogs do make noise sometimes.

The rooms were decent; nothing fancy. Only issue was noise from other people at the hotel coming and going; children being loud, dogs barking and the acoustics that come with wooden stairs and balconies. Otherwise, it was a good stay. Nothing luxurious or upscale, but it was a good time.

The older lady at the front desk was unfriendly & I definitely did not feel welcomed by her. Furthermore the heater in room did not work and the room felt cold. My experience was cold and unwelcoming unfortunately.

Great place to stay when visiting Ocean Beach. Right across street from beach and plenty of restaurants/bars/shops right near on Newport Ave. Yes, the rooms are a little smaller, yes the hotel is under the airport flight line, yes it’s noisy on Wednesday evenings during farmers market, so if you’re sensitive to that stuff then look elsewhere. If you’re going to spend the entire time in the room (dumb) look elsewhere. If you want a place that is extremely convenient to all the fun stuff in OB then stay here. We’re already looking at booking another trip here.

I gave two stars because the hotel did let me cancel with full refund after we stayed one night, but that’s the only reason. I paid for a beach view room and while I could see the beach, a parking lot was my primary view. I turned on the mini split AC in the room and black flakes came out of it. I’d have checked out right then, but my husband was exhausted and he didn’t want to move hotels right then. We left the room to get dinner and it was about 6:30pm. Someone tried to sell us drugs within five minutes of walking. There were mostly bars and it was very loud everywhere. This is definitely a party area. We got back to the hotel and kids were in the courtyard area, which would have been fine because they weren’t overly loud, but we could still hear full conversations through the walls. Overall, I don’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful beach getaway. We never even made it to ocean beach. We packed up the next morning and found some place else stay as quick as possible. Again, I appreciate that the staff member working allowed us to check out with a full refund of our remaining two days, but I felt I needed to leave a constructive review for other couples or families looking for something quiet and clean. Ocean Beach Hotel isn’t that place.

Was on the second floor. It’s insanely loud in the room I was staying in. You could hear people stomping up and down the stairs, loud talking etc. if you’re a light sleeper like me, don’t stay here. I barely got any sleep and the next day was super rough.

The staff is very helpful and will assist in any way they can. The room was fresh and clean. We had a first floor with a patio area that had a view of the pier. Would we stay again? Definitely, next time we head down that way we will stay again.

The first room had a view (back and only window) of a broken toilet that the staff put in the back, the second room they moved us too(next day) someone had pealed the paint off by the floor of the shower and the calking on the dry wall were the paint was pealed was falling off. However, the beach was DIRECTLY across the street and that made up for it. Be aware, no staff at front desk from 8 PM to 7:30 AM. Don’t run out of towels or toiletries during that time

I nicknamed this place “The Catfish” because the photos online and the reality were two very different things. The advertised “ocean view” was really just a parking lot with the tiniest sliver of ocean in the distance (and I have pictures to prove it). Unless you book rooms 301, 201, 320, or 220, don’t expect an actual ocean view—every other room looks out at the parking lot. Definitely misleading. That being said, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the rooms—though extremely small—were clean. The beds and pillows were surprisingly comfortable, which made a big difference. The courtyard was truly beautiful, and the location couldn’t be better if you’re looking to be within walking distance of restaurants and bars. On the downside, the walls were paper thin (bring earplugs), and being directly under airplane flight paths means you’ll be hearing jets regularly. The “ocean view” disappointment aside, people-watching from this spot was top-notch. Overall, if you’re booking here for the location, comfort of the bed, and friendly staff, you’ll be happy. But if you’re expecting a relaxing ocean-view getaway like the photos suggest—this one’s a catfish.

It’s an older building but maintained. The room was a good size and beds were comfortable. The bathroom was tiny and never really got hot water in the shower, it was warm at best. The balcony and view were incredible. Staff was excellent and friendly. The walkability and location were amazing. Minutes drive from anywhere in San Diego. There is a huge homeless population. They don’t bother you when walking around except for the ones that scream randomly to their imaginary friends. They are sleeping everywhere on the sidewalk, in front of stores, on the beach, etc. All of the stores and restaurants were great in the area. Great food and friendly people. We loved our stay there.

Parking was accessible and plentiful. Room was smallish but okay, looks to be newly remodeled. Great common viewing deck and courtyard is beautiful. Cons: if you’re looking for upscale, this area ain’t it. This is a party beach and the area smells like marijuana 24/7. Trash cans always overflowing on the beach wall and people selling products on the sidewalk right under the hotel balcony. Also don’t plan on a hot shower…water was luke warm at best even at 5 am before everyone was awake using it. For us, cons outweigh the pros and we won’t stay here again.

Property is okay. Staff were good and respectful. The place is noisy. We could hear people talking outside and right from the room next door. We felt that the place is unsafe especially night time where drunk people walk around the property. We thought the room is not worth the quoted price as the place does not have a swimming pool, no microwave, and the room is not that big.

But, the hotel was not up to date, very small rooms, always loud at night, not as clean as it could be, and hot water took forever to warm (about 20 mins) not fun when you have kids. This was a small room but everything was nice. Being right at the beach was really nice. I think the only downside was no microwave to re-heat all the delicious food we got but couldn't eat all at once. I would definitely come again.

The staff were great and the lobby was clean and convenient havng snacks, drinks and suveniors for purchase. I also loved how close to beach we were as well as having a private patio. It was just too noisy between the people walking around upstairs and people at the beach playing music loudly, popping firewords etc.

Great hotel across the street from the Ocean Beach. The room was small but but nicely updated. The beach access was great with many restaurants within easy walking distance. It is the beach area so there is a wide variety of people in the area. Anywhere from homeless on up. Just be prepared to accept everyone.

My husband and I absolutely love this property. We come there for our birthdays and for summertime vacation. We were just there this past weekend stayed in room 220 and 320 and 318. Absolutely love it can’t wait to come back again. Thank you for everything.

Fantastic, perfect location! Bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet and dark. The best thing of all is the location and easy parking - you can walk right out to the surf beach, and all the area bars and restaurants. I’d stay here again.

There were a lot of complaints that it was loud, but we were there during the surf competition across the street, and we stayed Friday through Monday night, it didn’t seem loud at all. A great place and would recommend it again. It is small, but it’s convenient and clean.

I absolutely LOVE staying at the Ocean Beach Hotel. The whole vibe of the area is great. My husband and I stay downtown once a year but make sure to stay in Ocean Beach for a few days before we have to fly home. Staff is great and the room that we get is pretty basic but has all of the things we just have to have. Ex: the ocean, TV, AC, shower, and a, mostly, comfortable bed. It’s fantastic. A little pricey but fantastic. I can’t wait til we get to go back!!

Standard room, nothing special. The mattress was old and sagged in the center. Located close to the beach, but the area is very noisy and loud, especially on the weekends. Parking is a plus, but they allow others to park in the lot for a fee, so there isn’t always a spot open. Some people don’t know how to stay inside the lines, so another car won’t fit in the next space over.

Avoid room 101. The door from the courtyard to outside the front of the hotel is right next to rm 101. This door slams closed every time someone goes in/out. People walking around the top floors sound like elephants walking around. Don’t plan on trying to sleep in past 7…it just won’t happen with doors slamming, guest walking/running around in the top rooms. Also be aware there are a multitude of belligerent homeless right in front of the hotel shouting all times of the day/night. This of course is out of the control of the hotel.

Hotel has a great location right across from Ocean Beach. This beach is a local hangout with an interesting crowd…not ideal for young kids. Rooms are very basic and small, but again you’re paying for the beachfront location. Check-in was easy and the staff member was super friendly, offering a lot of recommendations for food (lots of options within walking distance). A different desk person was super rude when we asked for additional towels after 2 days. Said we’d asked for “a lot of towels” but it was literally the first time! Overall, we wouldn’t stay here again with our kids. Probably better suited to couples who prefer the local vibe. I think Mission beach or Pacific beach is a better option for kids.

Location was great. Just a few steps from the beach. Own parking lot. Cons: 1. NO elevator. You have to carry your luggage upstairs. 2. NO tissues. 3. Very thin walls; you can hear everything. On the first night the room next to us was very noisy with a dad instigating chaos in his children. I had to call the front desk TWICE. When I called the front desk the second time(I gave it a good 16 min) the guy said I SAID I WAS BUSY. Wow 4. Not enough outlets. 5. The toilet seat to too close to the sink; you'll slam your shoulder.

During our stay they we had to make several trips to the office for those little extras, and they were always gracious and had plenty. The view was amazing sitting in the middle of hotel and the location with free parking made it ideal. We walked to beach and all the local restaurants which were fantastic. Felt like home. The beds and pillows were super comfy. Will recommend!

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times. It’s my happy place. I checked in

The Ocean Beach Hotel was all about location. Its location across from the beach is why you stay there. My room was on the interior of the courtyard, so the window faced the courtyard, which meant that the shade was always closed. The room was a bit cozy, but I didn't spend much time there. I'd try to get a room with an outward facing window next time.

Clean enough and great staff. Really— good people run this place. Free parking. Convenient and walkable. BUT this is an extremely LOUD area. Also, the bathroom light is connected to a fan that is very loud. Excessively barking dogs in at least one room on both occasions where we stayed here. Yelling guests. Not a peaceful place to sleep. It’s a good place to pass out if you’ve been out late and don’t want to drive.

We had an accessible room so it was large, with a large bathroom. Our room was good, but my son’s was a dark closet in the corner. Horrible room. Be careful of what room you book. Location is great!

Great place, clean updated rooms, very eclectic area but everything walking within blocks. I didn't like the foam mattress as it was hot and like sleeping in a creator. Otherwise fantastic.

The bathroom was very tiny, there were no screens on the windows & very limited seating. BUT the outdoor balconies overlooking the beach were phenomenal!

With the exception that the hotel is beachfront, other than the location everything in this property is a disappointment. The bathroom is ridiculously small, if you have to use the toilet it has to be in an angle to be able to do your business. The crowd in OB ( ocean beach) is a bit hippy, so be careful if you have a litttle one walking around neighborhood. The smell of marijuana is almost every block around the hotel. You’re pretty much paying for the location not the hotel nor the facility at the hotel… so if you have family and a little one I suggest OB is not the place for you. Learned it the hard way.

Room was VERY loud on weekend nights due to the location of the hotel (not their fault). Rooms are very small, but clean. Little shop in the lobby for some necessities. Directly across from the main area of Ocean Beach.

My Wife and I took off to Ocean Beach for a night to meet up with my son and his girlfriend. Quant little surf town ,nice vibe. The hotel set us up with a oceanfront and nice little patio to watch the ocean waves and the surfers. The staff was excellent and friendly. Dont expect the Hilton but if you like laid back and a little rustic . This is the place

I’ve stayed here a few times. It’s close to the beach, a great price and feels safe. The guys at the desk are super friendly and helpful. Our bathroom smelled like sewer would be my only complaint. Avoid room 312 lol. I’d stay there again.

We liked our stay. The hotel is well kept and staff were helpful. The room was not very big but it is an older hotel. The bathroom lacked any counter space. A shelf would have been nice. The property is in the flight path of departing jets, but it wasn’t all that bad. It was nice to be right across the street from the beach and there were many places to eat.

Never stay here on a Wednesday noght. The noise was horrible. I was originally staying 2 nights. The first time I went down to the desk, I cancelled my second nighjt. A couple hours later I turned in my keys, didn;t even stay one night. The room was very, very small considering the cost.

The rooms are smaller than what the pictures make them appear, but everything else was great! Its in a perfect location, with tons of things within walking distance. Plus, you're right on the beach!

Kyler was great. The property itself was not good. Doors to rooms looked like they needed a good paint job, there’s a mildew smell in room, thermostat did not work as it was set and locked, no heat and wall (ambiance fireplace) didn’t work, phone did not work, refrigerator kept coming out and tipping over its housing under the makeshift counter, lamp went out because of a surge, no tissue by beds, and noisy in the courtyard. Not worth my money spent. The surrounding area felt very unsafe and there was various “shady” activities at night. Even heard a dog being abused outside the window. I would like a refund.

Would come again just hope next time the airconditioner works

Loved the location & views! Beds were very comfortable. Only things that need improved are the thin walls, everything can be heard outside & the rooms next to & above you. Also very small bathroom.

Surrounded by homeless and drug addicted people. Very noisy and couldn’t leave the property without being approached to purchase drugs or asked for money.

Our room tidy upper was wonderful. After discussing our needs with her, she efficiently obliged all of our needs on our 5 night stay! Being an "on the beach" hotel, we did manage to bring sand into the room! When we returned in the evening, our room was ready to go. Kudos to her and the front desk staff! Jill

Beautiful view of the ocean and so amazing to sit out on the balcony to watch the sunset.

I ended up needing to book at 1am and Tracey was amazing! She was so kind and helpful and made me feel welcomed. I have always stayed here because of the great location and views of OB. And now I can truly speak to the outstanding hospitality of the staff too. Thank you!

Good location in ocean beach for shopping and restaurants. Very relaxed environment

We enjoyed our stay and felt very safe. The staff, housekeepers were very friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect and there’s a lot of walkable restaurants and bars. The room was on the smaller side but it was fine for our 3 night stay. There is no elevator so if you’re on the 3rd floor, be prepared to drag your luggage upstairs. Overall we had a great experience in Ocean Beach (ob) I’m looking forward to returning.

I don’t usually leave reviews but our hotel stay was just fantastic! So close to the beach and so many restaurants and little shops to check out. We were so happy with the cleanliness of the room and it was just really casual. The parking lot is tight but it all worked out. We will definitely plan a return visit.

Such an awesome experience we went for an overnight trip wanted something close to the beach so we could hang out all day and then just walk to our hotel without the hassle of loading and unloading all of our beach stuff lugging everything around back and fourth on top of having to deal with parking . This hotel offered free parking and the rooms although not all that big were cozy and clean which is the most important for me because all we used the room for was to sleep . The ocean beach strip offered such an awesome night life as sooon as you step foot on the street bars restaurants. The view from the shared balcony is amazing I was concerned since our room had a partial view I wasn’t going to get a great experience but that shared patios made it to where you could sit down and enjoy the view at any time . Waking up hearing the seagulls and the waves is the best at this hotel you will not be disappointed

The rooms were dirty and a blunt was left in the room and on the balcony. The bathroom had no fan. There were scratches in the front door. The bed was way too soft. My back was sunk into the mattress and I had terrible sleep. The ocean view doesn’t have a balcony to step out and enjoy the view I paid for. The framing from the walls was tearing off terribly. The room and paint was very old. The pictures were not accurate to the promotion of the hotel at all. The area was not family friendly and felt very unsafe. I moved the tiny table in front of the door when I slept because I felt unsafe. I would not recommend this place to anymore. Bars surrounded the hotel and music was very loud at night time and hard to sleep. You can hear people verbally fighting using foul language. This was a terrible stay.

Literally right across the street from the beach! In a super fun area, although seemed possibly a little sketchy at night for a woman alone, although maybe that was because we were there on a Saturday night. Infrastructure looks a little tired, but the super sweet staff totally made up for that!

We absolutely loved staying at OC Beach Hotel. It was so clean and everyone was so friendly!!! Loved watching people walk their dogs! We will definitely be back!!!

The view of the oceanfront was just amazing. Especially at night with the twinkle lights. I enjoyed the stay and would go back in the future. Great time!

Being right across the street from the beach and having their own parking lot were definite pluses. The hotel was close to every attraction and the food within walking distance was delicious. My only complaints were that the floor in the room were a little slick (may be due to the beach atmosphere, not sure) and not having enough towels for a family of four. These were minor and did not take away from our 5 star experience.

The stay at this property was pretty amazing. The only issues I had were the ac not staying on, theblightingnis pretty dim, and the floors left my socks dirty.

Lovely balcony with tables to watch ocean and drink your coffee in am . Hotel is clean but room was so dark and dingy . We did not have an ocean view room so if we opened the curtain covering the one window we would be looking out into hallway and would have no privacy . Bed was comfortable but really soft mattress . Nice large TV but can’t access Netflix or streaming just bad cable shows . Nice large fridge and coffe machine and really good shower pressure in shower . Would stay here again :(

The hotel was very clean and the staff were some of the very best. However, the first room we were given was on the 2nd floor right by the stairs. It was so loud all night. They did allow us to move, and I bought a fan. It was night and day difference. The biggest issue is the homeless outside. On our very first visit to the ocean (across the street) a homeless man started yelling profanities at everyone and scared children. In the following evenings it wasn’t uncommon to see lots of people digging in trash, laying around, and talking/yelling to themselves.

The staff were so helpful and nice. The beach is just over the road. The food and shopping around is great with the farmers market on Wednesday afternoon.

We checked in, only to find other people sleeping in the room - We had a pet and had wanted a first floor room, (which we had booked), but had to take a room on the second floor once our booked room was not avail.. once in the room, (after 10 PM), there was loud music blaring from people hanging out on the beach walk, and also - be aware that there is a lot of airplane noise at this property. But, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean.

Very Nice place to stay. Rooms were cleaned every day and very clean smelling.Staff was very friendly. Close to local restaurants and shops. Farmers Market on Wednesday was awesome!! Beach was right there across the street. Pier is closed for renovations but not an issue for us.

Really liked the location of this hotel. You are right on the beach, or as close as you're going to get. Our window looked out over Abbott street. Wednesday night there is a street fair. There were musicians playing until after 10pm. Great entertainment without leaving your room. Bed was comfy. Staff was friendly. Convenient parking for guests only. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Reminded me of Venice beach.

The location was a 10. The actual hotel was maybe a 3. We were there for 2 nights and so were the 3 people who stayed in th room next to us. We could hear everything! Them laughing arguing snoring coughing blowing their nose. You name it we probably heard it. I would say do not stay here. Sorry.

we thought this was the perfect beach hotel. The location is amazing. The hotel is right outside the beach. We could see people surfing right from our balcony. The staff was so friendly and really made the extra effort to make us feel welcome uncomfortable. We could tell the rooms had been recently updated with some nice touches. We felt the price was excellent for the proximity to ocean and all the OB action.

It's the perfect location right on Ocean beach. The view from our room couldn't have been better. We booked the "Suite King", but on the property it's referred to as the Pirate King room. The room is a decent size, but the bathroom is super tiny with a pedestal sink, so it's difficult to do your hair or makeup. The bed was REALLY soft, too soft for my preference, and there is no closet, just a tiny armoire. The room itself could use a little updating, but it was great to be able to walk to anything we needed (restaurants, bars, shops, etc.) Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

The location is great, literally across the street from the beach. Our room was small, but in good shape; however, it was located at the junction of stairs going up and down, so we felt really exposed. And it was noisy! It sounded like the people upstairs were herding cattle.

We lived in OB for 5 years. We continue to go back 3-4 times a year. Staying at OB hotel feels like we are home.

I love this small hotel right on the beach! This is the second time I have stayed there. I love the views from the outside courtyard where I can sit and have coffee. It can get a little noisy in the area at night due to the bars and restaurants close by.

I recently stayed at Ocean Beach hotel and felt compelled to share my experience, particularly regarding the air conditioning. Upon arrival, the hotel appeared welcoming, with a clean lobby and friendly staff. Check-in was smooth, and I was optimistic about my stay. However, my excitement quickly faded as I entered the room, it was uncomfortably warm. I attempted to adjust the thermostat multiple times, but to no avail. I called the front desk to report the issue, and while they were polite and eager to assist, they informed me that all they can do for me is give me A fan. The lack of functional AC significantly impacted my comfort. I found it difficult to sleep, and even during the day, I was unable to relax in my room. The heat made it challenging to enjoy the amenities the hotel offered. While the staff was courteous and the hotel had potential, the failure of the air conditioning system overshadowed my entire experience. I hope the management addresses this issue promptly to improve future guests' stays.

I love OB and this is such a convenient and quiet stay.

It was a gorgeous view and clean space. The beds are very comfortable. The staff are amazing. I highly recommend this place. The only drawback was not having an elevator if you have larger bags. We were on the 3rd floor so it was cumbersome. Otherwise it was a great area. Thank you!

Great location for access to beach, lots of shopping and unique small restaurants. Rooms are nicely furnished and attractive. But a bit smaller than newer hotels because it is an older building. Not a very quiet place due to the proximity to the busy retail and beach area and air traffic overhead(not all night, shuts down about 10 or 11) , but interesting with all the activity and variety(though it includes those with difficult living situations). Easy dedicated parking, great common area courtyard with ocean view and lots of seating.
