Motel San Diego - In San Diego (Pacific Beach)

Operation of the television was impossible for my level of technical experience

One of the best deals you could find in San Diego! I spent a long time looking for a cheap yet comfortable motel and this was the best option. Had everything you could need for a few days in the city. Room included a fridge, microwave, and TV- all big sizes. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Exterior of motel also makes it a comfortable environment. The outdoor decoration and location was a bonus.

There were decent working windows with screens which was a bonus. Everything in the place, walls, tile, moulding, etc…needs to be replaced or heavily refreshed. There was a strangely functioning microwave, a working refrigerator, and a coffee maker that we didn’t try using…and some strange instant coffee packet? So, no amenities. The tv worked fine and was streaming. Ac worked fine. There was a small outside eating area with tables, chairs, bbq,etc all of which were super old, unclean, and they area totally unkempt. On top of all this, the noise from the road is completely overwhelming. I had a white noise machine, the AC on, my own air purifier, and earplugs (my own) and the road noise was still very disturbing. At the least they should supply earplugs to the rooms. It’s very difficult to enter and exit the parking lot onto a busy street and visibility is limited due to fencing from some construction project that takes up the entirety of the center of the property. This motel is a couple steps below a Motel 6.

Bed was comfy. AC, TV with option to log in to streaming services, hairdryer, mini fridge, microwave, towels, bar soaps, included. No carpet (hence, no allergies yaye!). Parking is AMAZING. Pets stay free. There's 3 trash bins in the room (a plus, as I've been to hotels with just one!!!) Property itself is quiet and peaceful (besides the busy street but they can't control that). In and Out is super close. Check In and out were a breeze. My only recommendation is to have at least 2 keys per room instead of just 1. Thank you for our stay, and much appreciation to Alex who is friendly and accommodating!

I probably would pick another place next time. Owner could do some painting and spruce the place up. No amenities. Good bed and pillows. Hot shower.

Rooms were dirty, very unsafe. People tried entering our room in the middle of the night. Left after one night and booked elsewhere. Refused to refund or give any accommodation whatsoever. Do not recommend.

Everything is great. We really enjoy the stay there. It’s lovely. But I recommend the hotel to put more towel inside the room. So far, everything is amazing

Air Condition did not work. Fridge was not working. Volume of TV remote control did not work, There were bugs in the shower. The motel is beyond dated .I would rate it as F

Cozy little motel in a good location. If you're just looking for a budget model, I definitely recommend this one. Bed is super comfy and I appreciated the nostalgia of having a physical room key with a number on it. Basic microwave and mini-fridge also included, the only random thing I'm not sure why they couldn't provide is a chair. The room has a desk in it, but why can't you provide even a cheap plastic chair to go with it?

Coffee pot and mucrowave had no outlet so was unusable. Old. Really, really old.

The room is quite small and lacks a clothes rack. I stayed there for four nights, but no one came to clean the room, and there was no staff available at the office.The shower pressure is good.

Luis, who checked us in, was very nice and treated us great. He was glad to see us.

The air conditioner worked so good i had to wear a sweater in my room and just turn it off. I felt safe, plenty of food and convenient stores around.

Motel is in poor condition, location was terrible, staff was friendly and it’s very dog friendly so that’s the only redeeming quality of this place. It needs a total renovation, should mow over and rebuild probably.

Property needs updating but then, for the price is fair. Will consider again because of location and staff

Cons: There was typically a long wait to be helped by a staff member at the service desk. Their doorbell did not appear to be working. I also tried calling the motel a few hours before our check-in, but the phone would ring and did not have an option to leave a message. The most concerning part of our stay was the number of flies in our restroom. There was a hole in the wall below the sink, and flies were constantly buzzing around the bathroom.

The room was very basic but pretty much fine, but they required a $60 cash deposit (not cc), which seemed strange, and there was something really dodgy going on in the room next door. I would definitely not stay there again. I recommend paying $5 more to stay at one of the properties down the street.

Not the cleanest (several roaches in the room), not the safest (lots of homelessness on property digging through trash and loitering), and not the most comfortable (linens were old, pillows flat, etc.). — But the staff was super sweet, they’re dog friendly, they have tiled floors (I hate carpet in hotel rooms) and it’s a good location for traveling around mission beach/sea world/ La Jolla area. Convenient to many places in San Diego. I would stay again if the price doesn’t increase. It slept myself, my boyfriend, and our dog. They have Roku TV so you can sign into your own subscriptions of just stream YouTube as a guest pretty easily. And the AC unit works great (you won’t even need it). The windows open so let the true San Diego air inside the room 😄

It was quiet I enjoyed talking to the staff. They were very friendly and I wouldn’t mind staying there tonight. I’m gonna go check and see if they got it.

When we checked in our reserved room was sold, they put us in a crappy little room next to druggies who fought all night. Toilet runs every hour, no table to eat, nowhere to put clothing. The photos we saw throug expedia showed a nice room with dresser but actual room was pretty crappy. You owe us for first night stay as far as I'm concerned.

I loved that there were live plants in our room - just like home! This motel brought memories of long ago travel back to me - wonderful family vacations. Staff was super responsive to all requests.

This hotel is small, comfy, and very affordable ! It's also conveniently near the freeway, and has a mini fridge with microwave. The only thing I didn't like was the tile floor. It was cold and felt sticky on my bare feet.

The main purpose of getting this room was to sleep before driving back home to AZ. It worked out perfectly for that. The room itself, room 12, was not horrible. But, it wasn't the nicest either. The good things were that the beds were clean and made. The AC was working good. Decent restroom with a standing shower, toilet, and sink. The TV was nice. And the mini fridge was good. The bad things were mold in the restroom on the ceilings. There were black ants in the restroom coming out of the grout line of the wall tile next to the toilet under the window. When we woke up the sink was full of the ants around the drain. I guess they were attracted to the toothpaste. There was no hair conditioner, only shampoo. The nightstand drawer had debris in it. There were other little things that really didn't affect my stay. Overall, I would stay here again if it was just to rest before a long drive.

We tried to talk to the front desk once we saw the bedbugs to potentially get a different room but they were already closed, so we immediately booked a different hotel and got out of there. The next morning we went back to check out early and explain what we found and they just didn’t seem apologetic or even cared. Such a shame cause it is a cute place just infested.

It is an old and outdated property. Not even a TP holder. The night stand was filthy. Towels were really rough and not really clean. The only good thing was the location to beaches. Would not stay again or even recommend.

The property did not have much space for my dog to go potty, but it is totally pet friendly, otherwise. The room was the tiniest I'd ever been in but it had everything we needed! King bed, microwave, fridge and a teeny bathroom with a nice shower. To top it off a great price to be so close to the beach.

I like the old hotel feel- room was clean and very comfortable- close to walking to get food or beverages- what I didn't like is the owners has puppy dogs barking and whining in the middle of the night- one night it was 4am!!!! The traffic noise during the night on the highway was ridiculous-all night long- They should put up sound proof curtains

Way too sketchy of a place. Heard something that sounded like a gunshot close by. The door was not sealed, and there was no hot water. Didn’t look at all like the pictures online. Seriously, unless you’re a kung fu master, avoid this place at all cost.

You get what you pay for. This place is adequate and does have some downsides, like the sheets are pretty itchy and everything is a little old and rundown. However with the price it’s clean and in a good part of town. The cleaning lady (we didn’t get her name) is AMAZING and really helped us out when we were in a bind. Overall friendly and decent for the price.

Had a couple bugs in the room, but you get what you pay for. Staff were attentive and very nice. Close to 7-eleven, a gym (day passes are $20), and a couple restaurants. Walkable, and the room was decent.

There was mold on the ceiling in in the shower, the blankets were not clean, had other people‘s hair and cigarette burns in them. The floor was filthy your socks would turn black after walking on them, and there was used napkins under the bed. None of the rooms look the same. They are all advertised as the best rooms there in the photos, the owner is very nice though, but other than that, it was a terrible place and the mold is a serious health issue.

Motel San Diego has everything you need for convenient stay in SD! Convenient location in PB, close to the freeway so it makes a great center point to visit all other SD neighborhoods. Nothing fancy but for those of us who don’t need all the frills, it’s got all you need! Price is great, and a major plus that they don’t charge for dogs to stay too. :)

However, the sticky surfaces, nails sticking out of the window frame, and a general need of hastily done repairs left us with a mitigated impression. Not exactly the most picturesque area of town but very well located in a central location. Would mainly recommend for a short stay of a few days in San Diego.

Location to access highways very good with the exception always having to go south to leave and enter from the north. Room service was non-existing. Nothing but microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator; no utensils. Great water pressure and temperature. Free parking and right in front of room.

I had to find a place to stay last minute due to a building maintenance issue in my apartment. I had to bring my cats along with me. There was a nice view of maintained green foliage with some colorful flowers out of the room window. I barely noticed the I5 freeway close by. The customer service was friendly, polite and responsive. The room is comfortable for being an older motel.

Over all it was an OKAY place…good for a single night …I wish they have more realistic photos of what to expect. People travel and might not be familiar with the areas so the more honest of expectations the better. Over all good and clean just wish the advertising was more realistic. The front desk man was very sweet and professional so was house keeping. Again over all in a crunch amd price I would stay here again.

Close to all major roads in less than 10 min of driving. Parking and the tv size was a huge plus. I loved the silence here.Location was great close to 7 11 and Mc Donalds.

Plumbing was very bad. Liquids wouldn’t flush alone. Shower filled every time. Sink wouldn’t drain. Towels not clean. Parking can be limited.

Parking is perfect right where you can see your vehicle. Nothing fancy but it works on a budget. Stayed here before and will be back again.

Very nice staff.

Older classic single story motel situated off the road. Really a step back in time. Simple clean rooms- fairly quiet too. The reception was very friendly and helpful

The advantage of this property is that it is very inexpensive. It is clean and basic. It is an older property that was likely very nice in its day. No closet, no bureau. It has a small coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave. It is air conditioned and that worked very well. The gentleman in charge was very helpful in showing us how to use the remotes for the tv and heat/ac unit. He was very conscientious. Restaurants within walking distance were ok. The food was good, but they were the small neighborhood sort. We had Vietnamese one evening and Mexican the other. We stayed just one night before a scheduled trip with others and stayed again when we returned. We were comfortable. The landscaping is tropical and well cared for. Though it is on a busy street it is well back from the road and the landscaping provides a sound barrier.

The room was out dated. Doors, bathroom etc. The hot water barely reach warm

For this much money okay. Staff are very helpful

Bed was terrible. Both my partner and I had back pain after sleeping one night in this bed. My back still hurts three days later. I think sleeping on the floor would be better than sleeping on their beds.

The manager Carlos was super helpful.

Smell and dirty

Outdated, dirty, noisy. A mouse kept trying to enter my room under the door. It's a better than sleeping outside...

Overall good experience. Hot water is backwards on the shower. We noticed ppl say they didn't have hot water, it's just backwards on the shower. Very hot water. Very tucked away Motel for cheap. We enjoyed ourselves!

We were forced to pay a $60 cash deposit for damages, that would not be returned until after a 9 am inspection. Well we were leaving at 6 am so we were forced to leave a credit card in order to get the $60 cash back. The room, the walls were dirty, there were cigarette burns on the desk, so I'm hoping they don't blame us for damages. Bed very lumpy and uncomfortable.

We needed a place to sleep comfortably and we found it. We had business during the day in SD. The place was quiet and close to freeway and tranportation.

They have a surprise security deposit after you pay for the room on-line. They refunded the entire deposit when I checked out.

Dislike: Congested area - in and out of motel was bad during hi-traffic time. If I'm antique collector, then the building was very cute but I'm not so the motel could be listed as historical structure, ;)

The form you sign at check-in says no pets, yet they're advertised as pet-friendly. I worked these items out without much hassle - and they probably protect the owners from unsavory characters and dishonesty about having a pet - but still, seems a bit shady. It's the kind of place that hands you the TV & AC split remotes at the windowed desk. The split didn't work but fortunately outside temps were comfortable, so I took a chance and left a window open. I wouldn't dare use the coffin of a shower (I am not claustrophobic) - just not appealing. Microwave didn't work because it's on top of the fridge and too far away from the outlet It's old but clean, solid, and a bit noisy from the busy street. That said, as a solo female, I was safe and sufficiently comfortable for one night. . Free bottle of water and free pet stay were appreciated.

The staff were very nice and the rooms were very clean. Mostly everything was in walking distance or a short drive away. All in all it was a great stay! :)
