Such an amazing place to stay at! hotel is so close to literally everything and the staff was amazing. Hotel was super clean and quiet definitely recommend!

It was musty, very old. Much better facilities in San Diego for a similar price. No useful elevator for those persons with disibilities.

The rooms were clean, the staff were professional and welcoming. The place is family friendly quiet and secure. The pool area was especially clean and included pool toys allowing for for family fun.

Beautiful stay for a group of us, went to the Amigo Restaurant and service was poor. Had to get up and order our own drinks at bar, spent over $1000 for the night but pretty much served ourselves. Shots didn’t even taste like any alcohol in them. Otherwise stay was great.

amazing staff. helped accommodate us to an extended stay last minute, pool is super nice and room is super clean. we went to the waffle house inside the lobby and it was a cute diner good staff and good food. room was so nice and clean and everything was up to date and almost upscale. i haven’t seen something that’s a good price for such amazing quality!

The only thing I did not know ahead of time was that parking was an extra $15, which was not mentioned on Hotels.com, but it was all good because they had security checking the parking lot throughout the night which made it feel safe and secure. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I would stay here again.

And then…there was FIGHT:/ around 2am night 1 there was loud and obnoxious guests returning to their rooms. Very loudly. And night 3 of Sunday another round of obnoxious loud people. Glass breaking and eventually the police arriving. I didn’t get a good nights sleep 2 outta 3 nights but all else as mentioned was great. Hope to know this isn’t the norm as my family and I would rebook. Also - the restaurant was great. I also ordered delivery and that was great too! Hope to know everything was ok with the obnoxious neighbors and sad it happened to ruin a great stay.

The staff was very nice and pleasant. They do not offer breakfast, but there's a restaurant on site. $45 breakfast for 2. But it was very good, seriously...try the waffles. The main reason I will not be going back for future stays is the anti 420 stance. I'm 56 with a bad hip and that's my only pain relief. I'm not a rule breaker, so I did not vape on the property, but I wasn't happy with it. This was also the very first time I have had to pay for parking at a hotel where I was staying. Overall it's a cute place, a nicer than ordinary motel. Pay a little more and go with an actual hotel if you want my honest opinion.

I was without a means to cook or shower with hot water, so I started looking for nearby hotels to stay at short term. King's Inn was only 5 minutes from where I live, had a great rating, and the prices were reasonable, so I booked it. I ended up staying 3 total nights, and haven't been this happy with a hotel in years. It was clean, had everything nearby that I needed, and above all, it was QUIET! That is really such a huge deal! Thank you, King's Inn. If I'm ever in need again, I know where I'll be staying!

The check-in time is quite late 4 pm but if you are lucky, they can check you in a little earlier. The swimming pool is nice and the water is slightly heated. The room was spacious and clean.

Overall my stay was amazing and the environment and service was also good. There was a convenient store literally 1 min away so if you did need anything last minute that was there. I didnt dine in any of there restaurants that they have but im sure I wouldve enjoyed that aswell as it was pretty busy. The room was also well maintained and the tv provided Good channels. One thing I would say is that the Bathroom(Bathtub/ Shower) does need a little updating but the sink and the mirror was nice. Overall would recommend

Kings Inn checked all the boxes for us: Pool with Jacuzzi, lots of parking, clean comfortable rooms, good rates, great restaurant on property, friendly staff, especially Sandy. This is now our new go-to hotel when we stay in San Diego!

60's motor hotel that has been well maintained with a solid love for the kitchiness of the era. Rooms have not been modernized but they are very well maintained with updated flooring and current furniture with USB ports built in.

Pool was super clean. Diner was behind the lobby so super convenient and good food. Room was clean, mostly new furniture, AC worked but didn’t make it fully into the room. It was quiet, staff was helpful. $15 for parking was - a bit much- since it isn’t covered parking and you are no where near anything within walking distance so…. Not sure why the cost.

Basic. Thoughtless. Smells really bad all around, all the time.

I was gratified to see that the positive reviews were not exaggerated. My room was clean and well appointed. The only thing missing were some more USB ports--the electrical outlets in the nightstand were not tight and my plugs kept falling out. Luckily I found another tighter outlet to plug into. Wifi was not effective in the room and my Verizon signal was weak, too.

Place was cool. The people who clean the rooms stole my food but the woman at the front got me another order so I wasn’t really trippin.

Almost got the poolside room but weather was looking bad so I opted for the "executive suite" with the king bed. They put me all the way in the back above the kitchen. Had a balcony but it was next to the exhaust fans. View of the parking lot and a bunch of industrial kitchen equipment that hummed all night long. Room was nice and clean but the ambiance was not executive

One thing my wife, especially liked was that the bathroom lighting was excellent, as by comparison, some hotels have poor lighting in the bathroom in order to put on makeup, etc. Parking was plentiful, but was $15 a day. That seemed a little high. This is an excellent tourist hotel, great for kids, and affordable. Overall, a great experience. We would definitely stay here again!

It was a nice stay, just very noisy with our room near the stairs and all the walkways. Lots of noise with our room on that corner. Late arrivals, people by the pool, and going up and down the stairs at night. Really hard to sleep.

I didn’t use the pool but it’s big and looked good. SD weather didn’t allow it. Breakfast wasn’t included but there’s a restaurant there and the coffee was good and the breakfast was excellent. Good Mexican breakfast! If I had the stay in the area again, I’d pay half price again to stay with Kings

Very clean room, housekeeping staff came every day and did a fantastic freshening up. Good quality linens. Pool and hot tub well with maintained.The restaurant on site was perfect for the location. This wasn't fancy, but was impeccably maintained. I would gladly stay here again

Honestly I was a bit worried but this was a fantastic hotel! I will definitely consider staying there in the future.

The rooms aren't fancy, just clean and quiet for being close to a major freeway. Staff members are d rue sly and inviting. It's nixie that they have a a cafe just off the lobby, great breakfast for a reasonable cost.

Amazing amenities, the pool was awesome kids loved it. It looked like an elegant place when booking but has more like low-medium hotel vibes so I was a bit disappointed but the pool area was giant and made up for it and staff was so friendly.

Very nicely maintained older hotel. Good value and back to basics. A bit noisy until 10pm around the pool, but to be expected. Room was surprisingly nice as was mattress.

Parking is limited and first come, first served. I often had to park far from my room, which felt unsafe walking alone at night. To their credit, the hotel did reimburse me for those nights. On a positive note, the pool area was nice, and the onsite restaurant was clean and convenient.

The weather stripping was missing on the bottom of my door. There was a large gap between the door and floor allowing the weather to come in. I had to leave a blanket in front of the space while I was in the room.

I enjoyed my weekend stay here. It was in a very convenient location right off the freeway, only a few minutes from Old Town and a short drive into Balboa Park and more of the downtown area. The room was clean and plenty spacious for a solo traveler, housekeeping was excellent in resetting the room every day while I was out. The restaurant attached was also very good, and self-parking was $15 per night, which is on the cheaper side of what other places are charging. Will strongly consider for my next trip to San Diego!

We were very impressed with the well kept property and rooms. This renovated retro Inn gets 2 thumbs up from my family. This will be our go to whenever we go to San Diego ❤️👍

The only issue we had was that the door between the adjoining units allowed noise from the other room to interfere with our sleep. However, the front desk did find another room for us to sleep in and the noisy neighbors were only there for one night. Otherwise, we loved the place. It was so nice to be able to park right outside our room and not have to haul our luggage through a lobby and down the hall to our room. Having the restaurant right there for meals was also nice.

I am beyond disappointed with my stay at Kings Inn. The cleanliness of the room was appalling and fell far below any reasonable standard. The floors were filthy, the phones were covered in grime, and while the restrooms appeared superficially cleaned, every detail showed neglect. For over $400 for two nights, I expected far better. Worse, when we addressed these concerns with the supervisor, Ryan, he was condescending and dismissive. He simply said, “There’s nothing I can do right now.” I will never return and strongly advise others to avoid this place. We decided to ask for a full refund and find a different hotel. Do better Ryan! You telling us that this is not the first time someone requests a full refund for lack of quality service is very concerning.

This place may look old fashioned from the outside, but the rooms are definitely upgraded and well kept & that's what makes it unique

The property is old, but very clean. I saw people walking around outside throughout the day checking on the property. The room was clean and had updated flooring, but there was a large gap under the door that I covered with a towel every night. The sheets were clean, but pilled. The highway is right there, but you surprisingly can't hear it in the room. It is convenient to everything.

This place exceeded my expectations. Everyone who worked there was friendly and helpful. Room was basic and clean. Really could not have picked a better place to stay. Parking was affordable $15 compared to $25-$40 we paid at previous places that weren't even up to this places standard. Centrally located. I wish I could have eaten at the Waffle Spot, but they don't really have many vegan options. Maybe one day they'll have a vegan waffle by the time I come back. You could hear the freeway, but I wore ear plugs and it was fine. Air conditioning worked. Everything was great. We will definitely be staying there again.

Room was very clean, bathroom was extremely tiny and outdated. Staff were friendly. Our only complaint, it was very loud between the highway, persons walking by the room and the pool and plumbing sounds. Usually around 10pm is quieted down.

The beds were super bouncy. I'm glad I chose a room with two beds because if not, I would have woken my husband up every time I turned over during the night.

The front desk staff were exceptionally friendly, the location was very convenient, and the room was clean. I had requested a rollaway bed in advance, and it was ready upon check-in. After I got to the airport, I realized I had left my earrings behind and called the front desk. They immediately checked, found them, and mailed them back to me within a few days. I truly appreciate their extra effort and outstanding service.

It's a nice budget friendly motel. It's in good shape, everything was functioning and looked good. They are pretty strict on the check in time, so don't expect to check in early. The lobby is inviting, the restaurant was packed, the laundry facilities worked great, the pool was lovely. Had a great stay.

Notably, I was checked in by one of the most friendly, warm, and kind hotel clerks I have ever met! This is a hotel located near a busy highway, so there is a lot of traffic noise. I was placed in a room on the back side of the hotel facing the pool so it was quieter (although there was a young family swimming and playing, but that was a happy noise!) The room was clean and modern, and everything worked. There were charging ports on the nightstand, which is handy. Parking was near the room so I didn't have to carry my bag very far. I was able to drive about 5 minutes away to find a quick dinner. The next morning it was about 10 minutes drive to the airport.

Such a cute little hotel! It gave me vintage Vegas hotel and I’m here for it! Check in was easy! They even let me check in 2 hours early because my room was ready and in drive down from LA! The rooms were cute and the jacuzzi was used! I’d stay here again especially for the affordable price!

Don't stay at this place. It's like a little kid's place. And it's not even a nice bed. Nothing places really to be quite honest with you. Worse than a cheap hotel in another country, and I travel all over and the people there.They're just money younger grubbing freaks

Such a fun little hotel with cute decor, clean rooms, 10-15 minutes from most attractions, and very close to Old Town! We usually stay here while in San Diego and it's part of the reason we keep returning to America's Finest City.

Frankly, I wasn't expecting much considering the low price. Boy, was I wrong. The room was small but comfortably furnished, and clearly recently renovated. The bed was deliciously firm, the bathroom was cleverly laid out, and everything was spotless. The only negative I can scrape together was the small number of hangers - three-in the small closet. I was able to park close to my room, and, perhaps best of all, the soundproofing was excellent. Only when people walked by talking loudly did I hear anything. The receptionist was welcoming and efficient, and set the tone for my entire stay. I will definitely return in the future.

Room fixtures were dusty and we encountered some bugs. Bed was ok, not super comfortable but I still slept well enough. Beware during rainy days water pools near doorways on the first floor which can be hazardous for people with mobility issues.

My family only stayed for one night but we joined the rest of our family who were there and they had struggled the night before with flooding in the rooms. It was accommodating for our two small children, however having to travel to eat out was not a part of our plan and it made it more disappointing and will weigh on our potential visit next time

Big changes would need to happen for our families to return, sadly.

It's about a 10 to 15 minutes drive from San Diego International Airport. We rented a car. Warning San Diego has lots of steep and I mean steep hills in some areas. 😱😎 Kings Inn is an area around other hotels. The area was generally safe but I wouldn't walk around at night. There is parking for $15.00 per night. We didn't mind paying extra because they have security and I felt safer parking This was a well maintained motel. The front desk staff were awesome, very friendly and make sure you read the back of the flyer they give you. Our room was super clean, the hotel both inside and outside was super clean and well maintained. There were lots of beautiful holiday decorations, it made the environment warm and cozy. The Waffle Spot is connected to the lobby. Very friendly staff and great food. We had breakfast there every morning, they get busy around 9:00 a.m. Like most restaurants they are a bit pricey but we were on vacation so we get it. Please, please, please check out Old Town just 10 minutes from Kings Inn. The birth place of California and tones of history. The hop on and off tour trolley stops in that area. We drove to all the major beaches, very close and offers a good time. Regarding Los Angeles. A two hour plus drive and the traffic was way too much. I'm sorry to say this, see for yourself but Los Angeles was so gross!!!!!!!! 😱😨💩

Room was clean. It’s clearly an older facility that was beeen renovated. Loved the Christmas theme and energy. Breakfast not included, which is stated. There is a restaurant, the Waffle Spot or Stop, that was good with reasonable prices.

The room was clean, and the staff was very nice. I personally did not like the pillows, but the rest of the family did not have an issue with them. Other than that we love staying at the Kings Inn and eating breakfast at the Waffle Spot.

Clean but a little worn down. They have done well to update and keep it clean and simple. Nice fridge /freezer. Nice to have food on site. Outdoor nicely maintained. Near freeway so there is noise , but we knew that when we booked. Wish parking was still included since it is self park on site

Check in process is always effortless as staff is well trained. This retro vintage property is in amazing shape, which is no easy feat. This is my third time to stay here and it is a favorite for us as the property just has so much character, and having the world famous Waffle Spot on property for breakfast helps everyone's day start out great. Great, central location in San Diego with easy parking. Rooms are clean and comfortable with great prices. Only downside for us was that walls were very thin and could hear people talking in the next room. We were on the ground floor and woke up numerous times in the middle of the night/really early morning to the sound of showers turning on and off. Our room location felt like the main water pipes were in our walls and could feel the vibrations. I would stay here again for the prices and location convenience/last minute, but would ask for a different room location.

Surprisingly clean and modern looking! Can tell it’s an older motel but they have kept with the times! Staff was very friendly and the restaurant attached is awesome with excellent staff as well!! Great spot for the value!! Also it’s only 8 minutes from the airport.

Room was nice. Got upgraded to a junior suite which was a pleasant surprise. Front desk staff are very nice. The Mexican restaurant is no longer there but has now merged with the restaurant inside the hotel. I recommend the taco salad.

Very convenient location right off the 8 & the 5 in Hotel Circle, so reasonable distance to everything. Room is very basic and clean. Remodeled bedroom portion of the room, but bathroom and sink area are definitely dated. However, for the price, a great deal and well worth it if you're on a budget. Great big outdoor pool area and big hot tub. The breakfast place/waffle house attached to the hotel is great, and not to be missed!

We were able to check in early and was even upgraded from a one King bed to a 2 Queens. Every employee there was kind and eager to help. Food at the Waffle Spot was fresh and full of flavor. Will 100% come back again and will recommend to my friends and family. Additionally, the whole place was clean and I saw 0 pieces of trash around. Really great establishment you have :)

The floors in my room were filthy dirty. My feet were black within 10 mins after I took my shoes off. The amount of flying bugs in the room was disgusting. I had to sleep in my car. The front door has several gaps allowing bugs to fly into the room. Al the bed pillows were filled with bugs. Simply disgusting!!!!

I’m a big fan of the friendly staff that greets me every time I check in. This stay was based on business that I had in San Diego. I specifically chose this hotel because it feels like home away from home. The rooms are clean, smells good, and I love the extra blanket. My room was close to the pool and parking lot but I heard nothing. They have breakfast and dinner. Both convenient and delicious.

This property really was a good location. Only complaint was the shower and toilet. Shower and toliey had low water pressure. Outside of that, this is a great central location with easy access to the beaches and shopping. Staff were friendly.

There was no free breakfast. The floors were never cleaned in the room so your feet were nasty dirty from shower to bed. Everything in the room was loud from the water,bathroom vent, outside noise. The hot tub was nice.

Of the 3 times we’ve stayed here this room was my least favorite. Mostly due to the layout of the bathroom. It eyes an executive room with a balcony ( this was nice 👍) but the bathroom was not as nice as the other two lesser priced room’s we’ve stayed in. We will be back but not staying again in the Executive room.

I stay here every time I’m in San Diego and it never disappoints. Two good restaurants on the property. The place is not fancy, but it is very clean. My only complaint is they have very limited places to plug-in phones tablets or computers. They do have good Wi-Fi.

THis hotel could not have been more convenient (visiting USD student). The room was a bit dated (we were on the 2nd floor). Bathroom small/cramped. Beds could be more comfortable. Everything seemed very clean (although whatever they use to clean the room leaves a funky smell). Don't understand why they charge for parking (they have ample parking, should be included w/ hotel rate IMO). The waffles were to die for! The price was very reasonable for the hotel and breakfast

I was very disappointed with the room. It felt like I was put into a closet. There was no way to look out but at a hill. I couldn’t even wash my face in the sink because the sink was the size of a cereal bowl. I don’t think I will ever stay at this place again.

Check-In Staff were very friendly, the room and property are kept in excellent condition and very clean. Our room was fantastic, we had an empty fridge which was very appreciated. The windows actually open so enjoying the nice breezy weather was a great plus. Bed and pillows were very comfortable as well. The gym only has a few machines and when we tried to visit it between 6:30 and 7:30 in the morning it was already full. So we ended up doing a walk outside and around the property instead. We didn’t get a chance to eat at the property but there are restaurants available that seem very popular. The parking is also nice and convenient. Overall out of the 3 accommodations we stayed at in the San Diego area this week, we would come back to Kings Inn first on a return trip. Highly recommend!

An enjoyable stay. The customer service was great; my son and I were greeted with smiles and love. The room we were in was very comfortable, clean, and modern. The room temperature was set at a nice temperature which made the stay even better. The checkout process was convenient and quick.

Super cute and comfortable! For being off of the freeway, I suprisingly didn't hear much traffic. The rooms were spacious and the beds were pretty comfy. There is a room by the pool that has an ice machine and microwave, and a nice seating area outside of it. It conviently has two restaurants on site, one for breakfast and one for dinner!

This is mine and my friend's third year staying at this inn And honestly, we love it here! Staff is always very friendly and helpful, there's plenty of food nearby within walking distance or a short drive nearby. Easy for Uber/uberEats drop offs and pickups, usually very quiet and clean.

Shopping areas were close by, ease of travel to and from hotel was good. Only negative was that parking at the hotel was $15 per night. WOW! Other than that we enjoyed our 4-nite stay. The restaurants on site were great! Tony A.

The hotel is older, but there is rust all over the bathroom. The doors were chipped at the bottom the TV had lines going across it. The walls were dirty, no attention to detail. The room floor was not clean. I had to clean the room before I put my stuff down and it says that it has air conditioning which it does, but you’re not allowed to lower the temperature beyond a certain point. Plus, they charge for parking which, considering the overall quality of the hotel is unreasonable, even if it’s not as expensive as other hotels.

The staff was courteous and pleasant as ever other time we have stayed at the hotel. The rooms were very clean and tidy. This is the only hotel we stay at when we travel to San Diego.

We frequently visit San Diego and the Kings Inn is an excellent choice in the Hotel circle area. The staff are personable and extremely helpful. The outdoor pool and hot tub are clean and convenient. The exercise room while small is well equipped. If you use public transportation there is a bus stop right at the entrance with easy connectivity to the Metro lines, Fashion Valley, and Old Town. The in-house restaurants have a different vibes. The Waffle House for breakfast has very generous servings of waffles, eggs, and country potatoes that should suffice for any appetite.

Our floors were never cleaned. The curtains need to be replaced, updated the toilet roll dispenser, it is in a horrible place, put it on Wall in front of the toilet, no counter space at all in the bathroom, totally needs to be redesigned, our room was next to the utility room (not good ) you can hear every time they went in there .

We have passed this place up a few time while leaving San Diego on the way home. This is our first time staying and do plan on staying other times we stay in San Diego. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I was greeted with a happy smile at check in and it was a breeze. When we pulled up and parked in front of the Waffle King, my kids got excited and made that night even better. The rooms are clean with a modern thermostat (Digital). In the morning, while walking to The Waffle Spot that is connected to the Inn, we saw the staff cleaning the pool, filter and all. That was a great thing to see. The Waffle Spot is a MUST! Our second night, we did hear walking above us, due to us being in the second floor but that was no issue for us. We hear a lot more running and stepping at home. It is pretty close to food spots if you need something. The room does not have a microwave but there is one in the patio area by the pool. I really enjoyed the stay and you cannot beat that price. I read that some complained about the $15 fee for parkings but that is CHEAP compared to a lot of other places out there. I loved the fact that I got an email letting me know about the $100 deposit and $15 parking/security fee. That really doesn't happen with places nowadays. One more thing, if you do go to the Waffle Spot, let them know you are staying at the Knights Inn for a 10% discount.
