The outside was more beat up than I expected. The inside was nice except the floor was filthy (dirty feet). The pool and hot tub were okay but not great. The whole hotel definitely looked nicer in the pictures than it was.

I am allergic to gluten and the only non-gluten option was hard boiled eggs (in a slightly yellowed water), and plain yogurt. There were a lot of work trucks that made the parking lot almost impassable. The lanes may need to be wider, or there should be a specified area for these trucks to park.

Avoid this property. I booked this property based on the reviews I had read on Expedia. We'll those positive reviews are misleading. This property is awful. 1st off the staff is unresponsive and needs to be retrained in customer service. Our hair dryer didn't work. When my wife went to ask for a new one she was told no. Another person staying in another room gave us theirs. Secondly, the room smelled like cigarette smoke. For a non-smoking room it smelled like someone regularly smokes in there. Third there were ants in the sink and on the counter. And 4th and most disgusting on our last morning a roach the size of a silver dollar was in our bathroom. The breakfast that they advertise as having waffles and eggs didn't. Just hard boiled eggs in a plastic container already peeled collecting germs. All in all a horrible experience. We will never frequent tjis location again. And I encourage Expedia to remove this location from there offerings.

Our room was right in front of the stairs. We got all the traffic from people going up and down the stairs being loud and obnoxious throughout the entire night. I would never stay there again.

Good location very clean and nice breakfast. My only problem was I could hear the next door rooms doors close and hear people above me and to the adjoining rooms walking around until almost 2 am. If you are a light sleeper this might not be the place. But otherwise 5 stars

My biggest issue is that the hotels now charge extra for "possible damages" and then say it could take 7 to 10 days to get that $100 back on our card. Ridiculous!!! (but ours was already not taken out when the charge went through).

Beds were clean and comfortable. TV didn't really work. Maybe the remote needed batteries? Terrible internet. That might have been the problem with the TV. I could book my flights or make other reservations with such slow internet. Web pages took forever to load.

The hotel was in a very convenient location—right off the freeway but with none of the freeway noise—with plentiful parking. Our room was very tastefully appointed and seemingly recently updated. The bed was comfortable and the shower water pressure was good. Would happily stay here again!

Our room was perfect size with a little sofa. Most comfortable king bed!! Microwave/fridge. Really good room for such a low rate!! Breakfast is not good. Boiled eggs, cereal, toast. But they did have fruit and coffee!!

Although there appeared to be ample vacant rooms they initially gave us a room next to their laundry room. It was VERY noisy through the wall. When I requested a room change away from noise they handled it reluctantly as if it was a big burden. I would not return to that motel.

It was clean and it is positioned perfectly in the city, not far from any attractions. Earlier check in was not possible.

Parking and location was great. Room was upgraded and bed was comfortable but need to add a luggage rack.

This place works for us! Mission bay literally down the road. We are runners so it’s a perfect starting point or a 2 min drive to a parking lot! Rooms are comfortable, and have a fridge! Great coffee. Perfect for us!

We picked this hotel because of the continental breakfast. At 9 o’clock we called the front desk and asked when it was over. They said 10 o’clock. At 9:15am we went down and they were cleaning up breakfast already. My boyfriend called cereal and had to ask for the milk to be brought back out so he could have milk in it. Then the spoons were removed and he had to ask for a spoon. It was ridiculous. There was 45 more minutes left of breakfast and they were cleaning it up and taking away things as we were trying to get things that they were toast, cereal, and and juice. and they were rude about it.

But the bed sheets had a bit of a brown Stains it grossed me out, as if the washer didn’t wash it correctly and deeply. We didn’t use it over night but was replaced the next day But overall the stay was good no other issues besides that. The pool and jacuzzi were good. The staff were good.

If going for a quick weekend getaway and not planning on spending a lot if time in the hotel then this is a good place to stay. Construction was going on but sounds did not bother at night. Staff was helpful. 7-11 across the street if you need anything in a pinch

There was lots of parking and the staff was friendly at checkin. The breakfast was less than desirable. The cleaner smell was so strong that it was overwhelming and I could still taste it in my mouth long after leaving the area. There was also a fly trapped in the hard boiled egg compartment. The whole breakfast experience gave me the ick. The facilities were otherwise good and the bed was very comfortable.

The location was great, the room was beautiful and the staff were so nice. There is a train station next to the property and a liquor store up the street. For my visit this was a wonderful experience. The room it was beautifully decorated and it was quiet.

Self parking, a walk to Mission Bay. Close to Sea World, good quick breakfast and friendly staff. Definitely staying again.

very nice looking hotel easy way to get in and out nice pool and hot tub. everything kept clean. rooms were very clean and comfortable. parking was easy well I broke my foot on the corner of the bed from as it stuck out further then most beds .when I went to check out .itried to tell the Lady ate the front desk about me hitting my foot on the corner of there bed frame she answers the phone .gave me back my deposit And lash said was ham sorry hope I have a good day and said good by . I went to the hospital they verified my toes were broke .I reported it to customer relations a month ago .when I called back they said its the Hotels fault that there insurance company would be calling me in 2 more days well it took them over a month to contact me .I had to threaten them with a attorney before I got a response

We were impressed! The locations was fantastic! (The metro train near by was quiet and we never heard it!) quick access to the bay and beaches. The beds were super soft and cozy like a cloud. AC worked great. Everything was clean and nicely renovated. It was so affordable we expected it to be low quality but it was great! We loved it! We stayed in the king deluxe for the whole weekend and will definitely be staying here again.

TV channels are difficult to figure out. Staff were kind and efficient. Does the job for a very reasonable price. Would stay here again if just looking for an affordable place to stay. Isn’t very walkable but close to Mission Bay Park.

The property was recently renovated about a year ago. I stayed for two days, the room and shower was spotless. The air conditioner smelled new. I would come and stay again.

Parking and breakfast and WiFi was free. Breakfast was continental. The building itself is dirty. Also the rooms we had the floors were dirty as well. Still this was the closest hotel / most convenient to sea world.

Updated rooms, only problem was they didn’t come to clean every day.

No cold water. No room service. Bad toiled flow. Continental breakfast boiled eggs were sour.

For the price the hotel was good. They accommodated an early check in which we greatly appreciated. They were under staffed so our room didn’t get cleaned as we are Canadians and didn’t receive the text notification they sent out not sure why which was frustrating as we have young kids and we needed fresh towels. Which they have a shortage of because they are fully booked that being said it is spring break time so I’m not upset they did give us towels when I went and asked. The breakfast was ok not hot but good enough for what we needed. Kids enjoyed the pool, overall decent just not a 5 star full experience, I would stay again.

Our room was very nice. We had a king bed with a sofa. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. It had a nice sized mini fridge and a microwave. The continental breakfast was basic. Toast, 2 kinds of cereal, a yogurt machine, packaged pastries, cold hard boiled eggs, bananas and oranges and four different juices. A pitcher of milk was there too. The pool and hot tub are small but nice. Finding it was a little difficult as you can't see the hotel. There is a Best Western sign on the back of the bldg. but figuring out how to get in took a while. I would suggest they add Best Western signs with arrows at the 2 entrances. Their only ice machine was broke for part of our stay. When we spent any time in the room I noticed the bottom of my feet and my husbands socks would get very dirty. I took a bath towel and cleaned parts of the dirty floor. It looked clean but was not. I mentioned it in the office and was told they do mop the floors but think that the black top parking lot was causing the dirty floors.

Julio from the front desk was helpful ; housekeeping needs to know if you want the room to be cleaned before noon ; room & toilet were clean ( toiletries without lotion ) and the furnitures and lighting looked newer ; bed was comfortable , has 1 elevator but did not mind using the staircase ( we were on the 3rd floor ; good lighting at night ; did not avail the unheated pool or the heated jacuzzi ; the staff for the breakfast were attentive ; nothing fancy with BF ( bread/bagel/cereal/yogurt/fruit/hard boiled eggs/juices/coffee/tea/oatmeal/milk/fruit(s) but it was enough for me ; room key needed to get in to the BF nook ; very convenient location for HWY 5 ( on/off ramp ) , across a gas station , valvoline, car wash and 7/11 store.

The rooms were clean. The door to the breakfast room slammed shut every time someone went in and out. Shampoo and conditioner, but no soap. It’s okay nothing more, nothing less.

This place is a renovated motel (doors on the outside). The outside is pretty dingy, but the rooms have nicer feel. The breakfast is virtually nothing. Nothing warm and the only protein are some hard-boiled eggs. Not even the little waffle maker my son looks forward to. Room looked clean but my wife saw what looked like a booger on one of the towels. With this place I chose…poorly.

I stayed for a weekend in March, there is a smell on the property particularly in the bathroom. The staff seemed under staffed no hospitality. During the stay someone vomited in the elvator and no sign. You can hear nieghbors and outside noise. Parking is very tight. I did like the mirror in my room. The TV did not switch to the guide so kind of annoying over all a decline but seems to be down Hill for SD

the location the place is dirty and noisy -- impossible to get any rest with the slamming of the breakfast room door by their closing mechanism - I mentioned this to management who were not concerned and said" best western makes us do it" . the walk ways were filled with dirt and smashed marijuana cigs that were left sitting for days _ It has all the making of a slum : noisy, dirty, not worth th money payed and management with little concern.

The hotel was worn from the outside… pool didn’t have many chairs or lounge chairs, not much shade and in the middle of parking lot!! We had to move rooms because of a leak in the ceiling ….we were moved with no problem. A couple of small things, no ice in the ice machine(very dirty) and no shampoo in the dispenser.

I only encountered one staff member with customer service my whole stay. Every other member definitely needs to work on that. I’m not expecting 5 start service but a greeting at least instead of being looked at like I wanted into the front door of their house is crazy. The room was dirty. There were hairs in the “clean towels”, the shower had something that looked like crumbs, and the bed sheets didn’t smell clean. I don’t recommend this hotel. The front desk lady was also a bit off.. and at night she was fighting someone called Deborah. Honestly horrible stay, please stay somewhere else .

I had to stay in the hotel for 2 weeks while my dad was recovering at the VA hospital, which was less than 10 minutes away. I admit that when I pulled up and saw active construction, I was a bit worried, because I had selected it based upon price. But, it ended up to be a blessing in disguise. I wouldn’t have been able to afford a hotel that met all my needs. I felt safe in its location. It was clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, the soap, shampoo and conditioner in the shower smelled good, and the staff were extremely friendly ❤️ At a rate of less than $100 per night during the week, and not much more on Friday and Saturday, it can’t be beat. I wish the new owner and staff all the best of luck.

The room itself was actually really nice and clean. Came with both microwave and a medium sized fridge, bigger than a mini! There’s also a lot of free available parking on site. However, the outside of the hotel itself was not attractive at all. The outside looks run down and there was construction going on with a mess everywhere. There was a lot of banging, drilling and loud talking going on at 8am from construction, which can be understandable but at least a warning from front desk would’ve been appreciated. Front desk was not warm or welcoming at all, he didn’t even crack a smile through my entire check in. Breakfast was also disappointing. White toast, raisin bran and danishes, I would expect a LITTLE more than that but maybe I just came late (9am). Overall, if you’re just looking for a decent room with good parking, this is it. Otherwise, go somewhere else.

The Lady at front desk seems to have a bad day. The room was pretty clean tho. We only chose this hotel because it said they had a Jacuzzi but to our surprise no Jacuzzi!!

No room cleaning all week, we had to ask ourself for toilet paper, coffee or new wash clothes. Cleaning girls did not speak a word of english. I'm not going there anymore

Great location! Very happy with the property and room size. Clean safe area for a female traveling alone. Close to freeway but far enough not to hear traffic. Only mins to the bay ! Definitely will be my go to for future trips

It was okay. Room was clean & bed was fine for one night. There is a small pool right in the center of the parking lot separated only by a a fence with no visual privacy. not very peaceful. had no interest checking it out. The undisclosed $100 deposit that they hold for 5-10 business days (which you don’t find out til you leave) was unusual, unexpected, and inconvenient. The room should be inspected the same day and prepared for the next guest, and deposits should be refunded immediately upon confirmation of no damage or mess in this space. Wouldn’t go back

Didn’t like that the staff member checking me in shared my room number aloud in front of several other guests during my check in as well as verified personal information. There should be an area for guests to wait so those checking in can have ample amount of personal space

Went for a weekend girls trip to San Diego. Booked a room with 2 beds. The room was fully renovated and you could still smell the new paint. The beds were very comfortable and the room was basic but clean. The service was good but the breakfast is not worth anything with very minimal choices. We overpaid for the value of the room because we didn’t realize it was Comic Con weekend in San Diego. Construction on the main streets was loud in the night hours. Good location in the park just over the highway to see the fireworks at Sea World!

The complimentary breakfast was great for someone on the go. They had efficient grab-and-go options that worked perfectly for my schedule. I absolutely loved my room. It was spacious, very clean, and had a modern, upgraded feel. The hotel itself was quiet and peaceful, which made it a perfect spot for my trip to San Diego. Parking did get a bit tight at night, especially if you arrived late, but I was still able to find a spot even around 10 PM. Another thing I really liked was how close the hotel was to the I-5 and how quickly I could get to Mission Bay, just a quick drive down the street. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely book here again!

Upon check in we were notified there would be a water shut off from 11pm to 5am. It would have been nice to have advance notice. I called hotels.com to report the issue and when they contacted hotel management only offered $36 refund. The other option would have been to vacate within an hour for a full refund. Poor service from management. The following day I asked front desk we didn’t want housekeeping. Front desk agent said I could go to desk to grab a do not disturb sign or she could place on our door when she was available.

The hotel was in a great location, easy freeway access to anywhere and a walk over the bridge to the famous mission bay park. The beds were comfortable and the room was plenty big for 4 people in the room. Great price considering location, space, comfort and value.

Wonderful location near Windnsea beach, my fav in La Jolla. I liked the decor of my room and hotel, but the rock/cement flooring throughout the hotel inside and outside was dirty so it distracted from the decor. The flooring can easily be presser washed 2 x a week. The heavy room entry doors slam and are noisey!!

Close walk to Mission Beach park (if you're okay walking for about a mile). Close drive to Sea World. Not much to eat or shop nearby but there are several restaurants within 10 minutes. Staff was nice and helpful. This is a "inn" meaning doors open directly to the parking lot so it did get noisy with traffic and other guests talking outside the room. I bring an air filter for white noise so didn't really bother me. Also, no real closet, just a clothes rack. Everything was clean and brand new.

I was pleasantly surprised at the property. It looked like it had been recently renovated, but with good results. Paint, floors, countertops were expertly done. It was very neat and clean and came with a light breakfast room.

The bed sheets on one of the beds had stains that looked like bleach or pee. There was no Conditioner or Body wash in the bathroom and the tv remote needed batteries. Other than that it was ok!

I was amazed by the transformation of this motel. It turned into a beautiful, mouth-dropping 5-star motel within no time. The staff is professional, starting from the front desk, housekeepers, breakfast staff, and maintenance attendants. They are always smiling and making sure you feel right at home. First time staying here for a quick family trip to San Diego. The location was convenient to many local restaurants and stores. The hotel is being upgraded and so far, I love what they have done. Our room was clean, big, and quiet. I totally recommend and suggest you visit Liberty Public Market. It’s only about 15 away from the hotel.

We stayed for a couple of days during the transition from Mission Bay Inn to Best Western. There was construction going on throughout the property but it didn’t get in it way. Our destination was Sea World and the hotel is situated very close so we were pleased. The staff was very nice and we stayed in a newly upgraded room. It was clean and comfortable.

Room very nice...obviously recently renovated and very well done. Only complaint was no hair dryer, which was included int the amenities. Parking llot very inadequate. Difficult to get our car out in the morning with so many cars parked so close together.Lobby in very poor condition.

Front counter had only one staff member, waited about 25 minutes to be checked in. Clerk was very professional and cordial, despite all the people and their demands.

They gave us a room that was dirty. I asked the maid if she could come and clean it she did, but she still left a bag of trash in the room. She didn’t change the sheets or the comforter, and it smelled like a dirty mop.

There was some construction going on but the room we had was very nice, love the decor, the floors, lighting. Staff was very friendly & accommodating. Housekeeping even though it wasn’t on her schedule came in & made our beds & straightened our room up. I wasn’t going to ask for housekeeping just for towels. But that was very nice! Needless to say we enjoyed our stay & made use of the pool & hot tub as well. This place is located perfectly close to anywhere you could want to go. We will be back & I will definitely suggest this place to my family & friends.

Management and staff went above and beyond!!!

I was skeptical at first due to the online reviews and ongoing renovations, but this place ended up being a great stay. Yes, the construction was loud at times—sounded like breaking glass—but we weren’t at the hotel much, so it didn’t bother us. Our room was freshly renovated and looked great. Plus, the location was a win—walking distance to 7-Eleven and central to everything we needed, which helped balance out the Uber rides.
