Reviews
The hotel is praised for its prime location in Old Town San Diego, with many shops, restaurants, and attractions within walking distance. The staff is consistently commended for their friendliness and helpfulness. However, the property is frequently criticized for being outdated and in need of renovations, particularly in the rooms and bathrooms. Some guests also express dissatisfaction with the parking situation.
- Prime location in Old Town San Diego

- Outdated property, particularly rooms and bathrooms
- Parking issues

Very disappointing. Had to call 3 times for extra towels and toilet paper. Paid $30 a day for parking and wasn't able to park in parking structure due to lack of parking but was still charged. Had to call a third party vendor who handles the parking issues so hotel was unable to reverse charges. Not impressed.
- 5/5
Michell at check-in was very friendly and kind was a joy checking in with her
- 3/5
The linen was stained. Bathroom for did not work properly. A chair and the soft bed had a distinct odor. The chair was stained as well. While checking in the front deck person. Stop checking me in to help someone else that was there after me. I thought well thats rude. There were no instructions on how to check out. Not posted in room or even told when checking in.
- 4/5
Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Shower was showing signs of lots of wear and the toilet wobbled. Last year we stayed and the parking was included now it’s $30 a night . Breakfast was great!
- 4/5
It’s a step up from the Confort Inn but the property is so big or directions are not well explained so it’s hard to find your room. I asked the staff and even they had a hard time explaining where the room was and sent me to the wrong floor. I also got a room that had some damage near the lock that made me uneasy at night. But overall, it was quiet and good value for a work stay when you spend most of the time outside.
- 4/5
Parking was okay I paid $30 a night and couldn’t find any parking in the lot near my room I ended parking on the street I wish I was told it’s easier to find parking on a free street
- 2.5/5
The breakfast was good. The parking lot is not ideal for full size trucks. My track got scratched and door dinged.
- 3.5/5
The location Their elevator is always out of order and we were of course on the third level. Trying to bring suitcases and a baby up the stairs was a lot. $30 a night to park in their parking lot is ridiculous!!
- 5/5
Excellent stay! Beautiful grounds and friendly staff.
- 3/5
It was a cool property, but the rooms were really dated and my kids thought everything was dirty.
- 3/5
I really like the property location. Nice heated pool and hot tub area. Rooms were just kind of old and dingy feeling.

LOVE that the hotel is smack center in old town. The carpet in the rooms- hopefully they can put new vinyl or laminate flooring one day.
- 5/5
Everything was great!!!
- 4/5
Outstanding staff! Some issues with hot water and elevators but staff was on top of it in getting them resolved. Grounds were very clean and maintained well. Pool / hot tub were clean and inviting. Views were awesome. The Tequila Factory breakfast buffet as well as their other food items were delicious with generous servings. The location was ideal for walking to many other restaurants, shopping and historical sites. Absolutely will stay again.
- 3/5
The hotel was fine. Friendly staff and centrally located in Old Town. My only gripe is about the dated rooms and the parking fees, $30 per night for guests!
- 2/5
The hotel is in a great location, lots of restaurants and shopping in the area. Very friendly and helpful staff. However, the cleanliness of the hotel is very poor. There were stains on the sheets in one of our rooms, filthy carpets in the rooms, dirty silverware, dishes and cups at the buffet. House keeping never came around to fix our room (even when we asked them to) or replace our towels with clean ones.
- 4/5
Great location, walking distance to old town San Diego shops and restaurants. Property is beautiful with a great view overlooking the city towards the beach. Felt staff was a bit dismissive both prior to arrival and during check in. They were cordial and did provide me with parking as a courtesy since they were unable to accommodate me however this was not the first time my request was not addressed.

The hotel is right in the middle of everything in that little town. Vintage look and feel to the hotel. If you’re on the first building, the walk to the pool is kind of long. But worth it with the views of the city as the pool and hotel stands on top of the mountain.

Great location in Old Town. Able to walk to the historic areas easily. Staff was helpful. Rooms were large. Liked the historic details in the setting. Pool was warm. Room was a bit worn but fine. Property is on a hill so rooms are spread around on different levels made it interesting but a bit confusing.

It was a cute room, but just old furniture and the pillows were very uncomfortable as they were flat. It was dirty a bit. It was just an experience that I will not come back for.

Great having the airport shuttle! Good location.
- 4/5
wonderful location, good on site parking ( important in this part of town, everywhere else is expensive) great breakfast and very nice restaurant and bar, we loved to stay here. property consists of several buildings on different levels, a lot of stairs to be climbed to get to the room.

Yes the hotel bathroom was dirty in our room. The smoke alarm went off at 2 AM and we were shrugged off and told there was nothing the hotel could do. It kept going off/chirping until we left at 3 AM. The phone didn’t work and we have not been contacted.

We Love Old Town it is close to a lot of restaurants shopping and we love walking the park

For not knowing where I was going ,this place is beautiful. I always go through Best Western . Location was great for what I needed to do for 24 hours. Downtown was a plus. Breakfast was awesome. I cant wait to come back to enjoy a longer stay . I didn't like that I called I for early check in and when I got there I received a room 803 and it wasn't ready . So I received a different room 804 but it seemed that the whole side was being steamed cleaned . I felt like I was put I. A corner and paid extra for that. You had so many other floors or rooms that seemed ready. 803 was left with the blowers on all day till we went to the lobby and informed staff the door was still open and blowers going . There response was it wasn't done drying. But they came up and closed the door. But the room was beautiful .

Property has amazing views and was very peaceful
- 3/5
It's extremely large property which was nice. We asked for my sister-in-law to be in the same building as us and she was on the entire other side of the property. They confirmed with me that they would accommodate it and then when she checked in she was somewhere else. Extremely frustrating when we were sharing a car.
- 3/5
Also on the last night of our stay, we had neighbors that were very loud, they were sitting outside playing loud music, talking loud, practically having a party. I enjoy a good time like the next person, but this went on until about 2 a.m. The guests were so drunk that they even tried to enter our room at about 1 a.m. They began banging on the door until I finally had to yell out and let them know they were at the wrong room. I called the front desk multiple times and was told security would be coming out, they never did.
- 5/5
It was a pleasant stay. Disappointed with new parking process.
- 1/5
The location was ok since it was close to the base. I went for my son’s graduation and a vacation since I’m up at 3am every morning for work. I didn’t get anytime to sleep in since there was noise above me every morning around 6am. Plus the bed was very hard, not comfortable at all. I went downstairs to ask for a change in room, but they were entirely booked and couldn’t honor my request. I got a room for my last night in CA near Oceanside. Huge difference at a fraction of the cost.

- 3/5
Hotel was adequate, parking is an issue.
- 3/5
Parking at hotel is NOT free so be ready to pay about $30+ for parking just to park at the hotel for the night. This was not mentioned when we booked with Expedia. The map they provide of the hotel is really confusing. The room was clean though and the free breakfast provided was good.

It’s clean. Don’t stay in Room 408. It’s right next to the fitness center. The door slams shut every time and the wall to this room is next to it. It is loud. So if you don’t mind hearing it while you are in your room all day. Then take room 408. The guests at the pool also go in and out to use the restroom. This room is for those who require wheelchair access. We did not require it and yet it was given to us. The dresser was right next to the bed. Making it difficult for the person who slept on the side near the window to get up and use the restroom. Told the staff about the lights not working outside of this room, the room next door and the fitness door. Since they didn’t write anything down or type it into the computer, I doubt it will be corrected. I say this because other guests were checking out and they were taking phone calls.

The bed was very comfortable. Likes the layout . The weather wasn't too warm or we might of enjoyed the pool jacuzzi more but wish there was a second pool maybe somewhere also. The breakfast was decent except the eggs were not good maybe powdered and tasted groas. The location of the hotel was very good and cute little village nearby . Would come back again .

We loved the location. Close to everything we wanted to see. The bed was hard as well as the sofa bed very hard. Pillows could be updated as well as the hand soap. I didn't like the citrus smell it had to shampoo and conditioner and soap and lotion. The tub was old and so was the shower head. For as much money as we spent on the room I thought it would have been more updated. Another thing is it said parking was 15 per night and theu charged me 60 bucks. Not good!!!

Toilet had issues, the room was nice and clean, but the walls were thin and other guest blared their tv, at 2am I called tv desk on my phone as the in room phone didn’t work they said they’d send security up. 4am tv still blaring I called back down and apparent he didn’t see anything but would go again I waited for him, he never came. I told the receptionist when checking out about my experience she asked if I had called down I told her everything she just said, “Oh sorry, have a nice day,” and started talking to her coworker. I wasn’t angry with her (not her fault) but to be so dismissive just unprofessional. I will not stay here again

We have stayed here several times because of the location. The rooms need an update. It is fine for a night or two. The coffee maker in the lobby is the biggest perk. Staff is a 9 but the room is a 7.
- 3/5
CONS: pricey, rooms need a little more love (peeling paint, cracked walls, old carpet, musty smelling, thin windows, noisy air conditioner, light bulbs missing, no string for fan light, etc..) having to pay for parking and parking ramp is quite small when maneuvering, front desk staff is friendly but needs to be more knowledgeable about room prices. Be aware if you book through a third party, you may NOT get the room you requested.

We had a wonderful stay! Wish we would have booked one more day. The only thing was the parking situation. They have their own parking structures but you have to pay for parking..i almost paid for ours but waited to see the parking spot first. Good thing i didnt! Always love staying here. Been coming for 30+ years.
- 3/5
The place was a maze to find our room. Lots of walking. This place has a lot of age on it. Elevators are hard to understand. The front desk is little help. We had a pleasant, if not too spectacular, stay. The beds were too soft, in our opinions. The place is in a good location.

To much stairs

The breakfast was great. The view and location also great. Charges for parking, not enough towels at pool, and the carpet seemed grungy in the room
- 5/5
In the heart of Oldtown. Staff was wonderful and courteous. Everything was clean. Even though it’s an older hotel, everything was kept up nicely. Would definitely go again.
- 5/5
Great location in the center of Old Town! A/C in the room had a hard time pulling out the humidity. Parking is not included and you will be charged $30 per day to use the limited garage parking. Stalls are super narrow so don’t drive anything larger than a small SUV. Breakfast was way better than expected however other guest would make huge to-go plates which the staff had a hard time keeping full. Plan to walk stairs. If you require assistance walking this is not the hotel for you. They do have elevators but you will still be required to walk the stairs.
- 4/5
It's very lovely place however, it is very spread out so not easy to get where you want to go and directions not clear. Also not great if have trouble walking and took 3 elevators in different places just to get to restaurant which would be nice if near lobby and there is no room service or food delivery so unless you want uber eats which you still need to go to lobby for you've got a ways to go...that said the food was excellent and breakfast very good with a lot of different things to choose from so kudos for that! Hotel staff very friendly and Joe the shuttle driver was wonderful, restaurant staff okay not as friendly, but that's fine... just know you're going to hike for food unless you're in a room across from restaurant

Had roaches in my hotel room, no management on duty to address my concern. Was supposed to get a call about the issue and never heard back from anyone.
- 0.5/5
The pictures are very deceiving. Nothing like the pictures. I didn’t like it at all. Everything. We were put in a room where it was being renovated twice. Had to go back to the front desk twice to resolve the issue. When we finally got our room the third room we were put in there’s no trash bags inside all the garbage cans. There was old coffee left inside the coffee machine and coffee machine wasn’t working properly. There’s was no crib for our kid to sleep in. When I had requested for one. Our baby had to sleep in the middle of us so none of them falls out the bed. After a long drive we were tired and it’s a hazard sleeping with them since my baby is 1 year old and 2 year old and wasn’t able to fully sleep properly since I had to make sure one of us didn’t roll over them. Overall I’m very disappointed with no proper resolution for this stay.
- 2/5
Parking is $30 per day and front counter staff was very rude and took forever to check us in originally had told us they would call us to check in by 3 and we got there and it was pst 4:20 and after I had to hunt down my own room and cleaning lady to ask when was my room going to be ready. She gave me an attitude and said we need to wait for a supervisor to do a walk thru first and that can possibly be another 45 mins. The hotel in its self it’s nice but it’s very outdated and can use some. Renovation specially on the restroom our shower head was leaking to the side and when we would shower all floor keep getting wet when we seen that we were frustrated and didn’t even wanna deal with the from customer service staff they als said they would put us in a better view room and we didn’t have any view at all but we were so tired that didn’t wanna deal with more waiting at that point. Over all good place but needs better management and staff training all the way around from check in staff to cleaning ladies.
- 5/5
Good location for local interests. Great van transportation provided to airport and it's also within walking distance to transportation center to catch trains and trollies. Rooms need a refurbishment, but overall clean and very comfy beds, nice and quiet and got a good nights sleep before heading off to airport.
- 5/5
All was well, for us it was the best deal for location.
- 3/5
Location is ideal. Staff excellent. Noise level was the biggest detractor in two ways; maids pushed cleaning carts across exterior patio that rattled and rumbled on concrete outside of our door, making it difficult to hear the tv or rest. This went on thorugout the day. Also, the Disney cruise was docked in the port, and this hotel appeared to be the hotel that accommodated guests before and after the cruise. We like kids, but for two concecutive days, we had some screamers on either side of us that became annoying (often in the evenings and early mornings).
- 5/5
Great staff, clean rooms, close to Old Town , airport transport

If you are out of shape this place is a major workout. I just had a baby so I loved it . Steps galore! The area was perfect to explore Oldtown. The breakfast was really good.the only down part was our bathroom light was glitching out at 2am. And shadows moving around the room. Could have been people from outside causing it but idk why anyone will

It’s pretty I reserved a king size room. We were put in a double size room that had an air conditioner that was sooooo loud, it woke us up every 45 mins while it ran…. The noise from the upstairs bathroom was so loud when people were showering I actually thought my husband was in our shower …. Upstairs toilet flushing was so very loud… in short, pretty property, however, would never, never suggest it to anyone who wants to sleep !!!!

Location, staff, and proximity to Old Town were all definite pluses! The water was off in our room when we checked in. It was only off for an hour or so but it would have been nice to have a heads up. We also chose to take an Uber to the airport in the morning as the shuttle was not available until 6:30 am which was only an hour before our fight. With so much uncertainty surrounding travel in general these days we were not comfortable with cutting it that close.
- 4/5
Location is excellent. Place is huge - staff friendly - breakfast decent. Needs some deferred maintenance.
- 2/5
Let me start off by saying, the staff and cleaning services amazing. The day I arrived April 18th Saturday 10am hot water heater broke down and I was in building 600 Rm 639. I had no hot water so disappointed, I feel that I should have received a discount or free stay for the next time I visit, But no. Also my coffee and the room phone was broke too.

Not like other hotels, very unique environment in the best way possible! Enjoyed the stay, the staff were kind and the food for the breakfast buffet was delicious! I would recommend to anyone visiting San Diego! Within Old Town so we were able to walk around and visit all the shops in the area and have some delicious food at a local restaurant! Great time, I am looking forward to visiting again!
- 4.5/5
Location, Location, Location!!! It was centrally located for all the things we wanted to do. The FREE breakfast buffet at the restaurant that is connected to the hotel was FABULOUS! Heated pool and spa was great. Loved it all! The resort is large so it took a hot minute to find your way around, but once we did it was fantastic.
- 5/5
The A/C was fantastic! The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The property itself is beautiful, but it can be tricky finding your way around. Walking distance to all the best spots in Old Town is a bonus!
- 1/5
Central to Old Town and pretty much the only reason to stay here. Their self parking garage is now a high priced lot charging as much as $30 a day, and they lie to more frequent guests and claim the recent change has always been this way (it has not). Most recent stay - phone in room does not work, no soap in bathroom, no waste basket in bathroom, complimentary dispensers in shower were empty and had not been refilled. There is always something broken or missing in every room I've ever stayed in (I've stayed here many times). Vending machines are routinely empty or not working and won't accept payment. Basically, this place is extremely poorly run and pretty run down, they're surviving on location alone. I've had enough and won't be back.
- 1/5
There was no hot water for the whole hotel. You could not take a shower. The front desk said they would get someone in the morning. For a large hotel you would think they would get somebody right away. The hotel is rustic. The bathrooms are old and the vent fan was loud. Our room was one of six buildings requiring us to walk to the last building. We had to go up three small elevators and our room was the last one on the floor. The room was quiet however. If you like old rustic hotels it might be nice. It does fit in with Old Town
- 5/5
Best hotel in San Diego! The free breakfast buffet was amazing!
- 4/5
After a flight delay, I didn’t arrive at the hotel until after 2am. Check in was smooth and easy, though, and someone was available to help me to my room. The property is huge and labyrinth-like, so the escort was very much appreciated. Overall the room was comfortable but a couple of things didn’t work properly: the phone didn’t work at all, the sink and toilet were both very slow to drain, and the shower pressure was very low. The staff was incredibly friendly and the restaurant was not bad. The airport shuttle driver was very helpful as well. The location is great! Right in Old Town and very walkable. I would stay again.
- 1/5
I have stayed at this hotel many times and I was thoroughly disappointed. The hotel is rundown and poorly maintained. My room was filthy. I found a big bug in my bed. Then I discovered food crumbs along the wall next to bed. The sink was clogged the entire time. The only good thing about this place was the tortilla factory where I got a free breakfast which was mediocre. I complained at the front desk and all they did was say sorry about that. No offer for a voucher or refund or even a discount. I will never stay there again. I even complained to Expedia after I didn’t get any help from the hotel staff, which were actually very rude and they tried to call the hotel to try to straighten things out and they hung up on them, very unprofessional.
- 3/5
The property is beautiful on the outside and well maintained. The rooms were kinda of grubby. The chairs and carpet in the room were stained and dirty. No way would I have used the chairs! The bed and sheets were clean though. Plus the furniture was scratched and felt unclean.
- 1/5
After staying overnight, we discovered visible mold growing along the baseboards and wall near the air conditioning unit. This was not a minor issue—it appeared to be long-standing and clearly had not been properly addressed. The condition of the room was unacceptable and raised serious health concerns. What made this even more troubling is that we were traveling with our 3-year-old and 5-month-old baby, which made the situation especially unsafe. Had we known about this beforehand, we would not have stayed in the room. We brought this to the hotel’s attention and, while they acknowledged the concern, they did not provide a meaningful resolution. I would strongly recommend that future guests carefully inspect their rooms, particularly around moisture-prone areas like AC units and baseboards. This experience fell well below expectations, especially when it comes to basic cleanliness and safety.

- 5/5
The shuttle was easy to access. The staff was friendly.
- 3/5
For the return flight …I wish you change the drop off time . Our flight was at 6: am and shuttle service don’t start the same time .. For the cleanliness, I wasn’t happy especially the afternoon I checked in . The staff assigned meamd my husband in the room that’s way out to the bldg 600 (604) . I told her I have problems with my hips and my knee and that I cannot walk that far and yet she put us all the way almost to the end of the building.. my husband is walking with a cane . when I got into the room, what we had was just two towels , ONE wash cloth, the towel for the bath mat is very very flimsy. Also, there was no lotion and no bar of soap in the lavatory. I don’t think that room was even ready. Also on the bathtub, the faucet was leaking so the water doesn’t go up all the way to the shower. The faucet in the bathtub is nonstop, dripping and dripping night long. I was very disappointed. I complained about it, but I was so tired to be walking again going down. I was told that they’re gonna try to move me the next day.. it was an awful terrible night. I had very bad cramps from walking that far plus with the stairs are too high. The elevator going to the dining area wasn’t working. The parking was not that bad though .
- 4/5
Parking is very tricky. The garage is tight and some vehicles use two spots because they can’t fit. So every time we leave, we don’t know if we will get a spot when we go back. We paid extra for parking so we expect to park there but we ended up parking on the street. We also tried calling housekeeping to ask for a towel, but nobody answered after 6pm. We were on hold with housekeeping and front desk for at least 10 minutes and decided to just call the next day. The breakfast was okay.
- 4/5
The parking is in a garage and the property has many different floors and they put you as close to your room as possible. The grounds are beautiful and it’s perfectly situated to walk around Old Town. The bathroom is showing its age but it’s a comfortable room. The staff is very nice.
- 5/5
Hotel was very clean and room was great. Very comfortable bed. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was great for exploring Old Town San Diego. We were able to walk to many great restaurants and explore the historic area. The onsite restaurant was very good, with great choices available. We were very happy with our stay and would stay here again when visiting San Diego.
- 2/5
Hotel needs updating. Sad dingy rooms. Staff very kind.
- 5/5
The parking is a third party, however there is street parking available. The breakfast was above average and the pool was heated.
- 4/5
I forgot how difficult it was for me to climb stairs. If you are in a wheelchair or have any type of physical disability, you will need to get a room on the 1st floor. There is an elevator, but it will only take you to the 2nd floor and a room there would be perfect as well. The outside of the hotel is beautiful. Plenty of areas to sit and and just enjoy.
- 3/5
yes parking was good
- 5/5
The rooms are a good size! Parking you have to pay $30 overnight and it is close and safe. The location is actually perfect, walkable to all the good stuff in old town. The pool is warm. The price is worth it, the breakfast that is included is much better than other hotel breakfast. Will come back.
- 2/5
Room was dirty and bed sheets
- 5/5
Clean and great atmosphere
- 2/5
Not enough towels in the room or at the pool area; pool was murky (could not see the bottom - I have pictures) and pool filter was brown; construction trash was stacked at the end of the hall; brown gunk on top of bathroom mirror frame hasn't been cleaned in months (I have a video); laundry room was messy. I didn't feel the room was worth the price. The best thing was the breakfast! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO MY FRIENDS.
- 5/5
Great location for old town.
- 5/5
The shuttle pick up at both the cruise terminal and airport are a huge plus and Joe the Driver is like our best friend.
- 5/5
Great spot
- 4/5
It's just an old property that needs remodeling. The staff is great, the breakfast buffet is above average and it's a great location in Old Town. Downside is the old rooms and lots of stairs if you're in the upper buildings.
- 3/5
Pool to far away. Tequila Factor elevator out, no celling fan, bathroom fan sounded like a jack hammer and you had to have in on for the bathroom light work
- 3/5
Broken elevators, body soap dispenser not refilled, trash all over the property, TV sound was super low even at full volume, refrigerator kept nothing cold, bathroom floor sticky as soon as we got into the room.
- 5/5
Good location and staff was great
- 4/5
Beautiful grounds and great location. Property is huge and be confusing. Rooms are generous in size. Breakfast included was ok.
- 3/5
-Room (bed sheets, bathroom) looked super clean. -Breakfast included was very decent comparing to other hotels -The area is great, a lot to see and do within a short walk Negative points: -They charged us $45 for parking and it was full, we ended parking at the next block parking (also property of the hotel) far away from our room and had to walk up so much stairs back and fort every time -Room smelled terrible like old house -Beds were super unconfortable and noisy every time you move, wasn't able to rest at all -3rd day there was a water outage and when we called the front desk to report it the lady taking the call sounded really annoyed like she was the one not able to take a shower I would not recoomend to stay here if you have another choice with sane budget
- 2/5
The room where ready, they said they will called me then I when again after 4 the room still not ready they finally got me another then when we want to take a shower the water didn’t come out we’re trying to call the phone didn’t work. We have to go and they gave us another room.
- 5/5
Clean and staff was amazing
- 5/5
- 4/5
Everything was so nice, the staff, the grounds and the rooms. Only problem was the parking, the property it’s so big and spread out that parking is a bit hard and some of the elevators were not working and there are a lot of stairs…a lot. But we got our steps in so if you don’t mind that, it’s perfect for a little getaway in old town.
- 3/5
The shower only had hot water and the heater had a really bad burning smell because it was really dusty.
- 4/5
The hotel is located is a great location, you can walk to Old town. All the staff was courteous and helpful. The bed was comortable, and my room was excellant. The only 2 negatives were that all the ice machines were broken, and the elevators were not always working. Both are things that really need to be addressed, as the hotel is on multi levels. But all in all i enjoyed my stay, and I would stay here again.
- 4/5
Rooms could use remodeling, but the location is perfect.
- 3/5
King bed was clean an in good shape. The property was likely a high-end one, but now everything seems one use from failure. The elevator that connects all levels was broken. I was assigned to a room with someone in it and my coworkers room wasnt ready for 3 hrs after checkin. The restaurant ignored me for a half hr before getting to me. I will not return.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Air conditioning was at good condition
- 4/5
Check in was quick and easy. Parking was no parking. The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Nice TV. Plenty of Hot water. The shampoo and soap were great. The breakfast was outstanding. The restaurant was Outstanding with great views. The hostess Maria in the restaurant in the Evening should be commended, along with Maria Paz assisting in the morning buffet. I would have like to have seen Security Camera's in the parking garage (which is $25 day), and Camera's in the halls catching any thieves who even think about entering the rooms. Excellent location. UBER and UBER Eats have no problem finding the location. The rooms are a bit "dated" and the walls and ceiling are a bit thin...although not a big problem.
- 1/5
It was but it’s very old and outdated I feel that details like what it’s close by, haunted houses ect should be highlighted for people like myself who aren’t interested in that.
- 4/5
I traveled with a friend. I made our reservation about 2 months ago. We were provided with a room that required a shuttle bus. We were told that the hotel was full. We were using Uber/Lyft for transportation, thus we did not have access to a car. It was quite difficult to walk to our room and then to the lobby X 2 days. Both of us needed the shuttle to travel to the airport. My friend could not use shuttle service to the airport at 10:00 (check out time for the hotel is 11:00), because she was told the driver would be “on break.” She also could not navigate her suitcase without a shuttle bus, because of our distance to the lobby. The hotel is quite attractive, but it is very challenging to access. The front desk receptionists pull out a map at check-in to try to find explain how to “travel” to get to rooms.
- 3/5
It's a very old hotel. Entrance to room from the outside. We had "Bold Jumper" spider greeting us when we leave and enter. The hotel needs updating
- 2/5
Unless you ask or complain the room doesn’t get cleaned
- 3/5
Airport shuttle wasn’t available when we got off plane which was very annoying since I chose a hotel that provide that for me, the property is in a great location, wonderful buffet that they offer in the mornings, but the room was on a very low scale of maybe a 3 out of a 10
- 5/5
We were only there to sleep ahead of our trip to Nashville.
- 5/5
Always a nice stay....staff is really friendly...
- 3/5
Great location. Older hiotel but fits the vibe of old town.
- 5/5
Very good location. Unique decors. Shuttle running to airport and cruise terminal is convenient.
- 5/5
Microwave and refrigerator worked perfectly. Great location Highly Recommended.
- 5/5
Very interesting layout- but staff super helpful
- 5/5
We had limited contact with any staff, but they were pleasant and helpful.
- 5/5
The Property is all old school. Brown rugs, varnish doors, frames and furniture. The room was very spacious with plenty of wiggle room to move around. Old school bathtub, sinks, and lighting. The room was very clean with a medium sized refrigerator and microwave. This property is 5.5 acres with many different buildings. The pool and laundry were a bit of a walk to get to. I had trouble making the laundry app work to operate the machines but eventually it worked out. This was a safe comfortable place to stay with plenty of eating establishments just a short walk away.
- 4/5
Overall, the property is okay. The staff is friendly, willing to help. The room looks clean. However, it is hoped that the breakfast could have a bit more of varieties of food. Overall, satified.
- 4/5
Shout out to Vivian Chavez who helped us print out visa forms; she’s a gem. The entire staff was very friendly, helpful.
- 5/5
An overnight stay was wonderful. Had everything I needed. Great restaurants near. Old Town San Diego was beautiful. The hotel had a great view.
- 4/5
The room is as very hard to find, the elevators were not working in our section so had to walk up to many flight of stairs just for our room with all our luggage! Parking is HORRIBLE you have to pay for it and there’s not enough, you have to fight for parking so make sure you have what you want and need and never move your car! You will be ticketed if you park along the street FYI! It is steps to old town LITERALLY just walk down a lot of steps lol rooms are big and our view was super nice of the town and got to see the seaworld fireworks a plus! Liked the cute little patio furniture to chill outside are room, and the big open windows loved it. The tub had a leak and the fridge did not get cold, I can tell a lot of construction was being done so hopefully some renovation is taking place. Please fix the elevators and find a way to better manage parking especially if we are required to pay for it as we stay there! I feel a lot of parking traffic is coming from non residents of the hotel.
- 4/5
Aiight
- 4/5
It was fine.
- 5/5
Wonderful views, clean room and great breakfast buffet
- 3/5
Didnt use it.
- 4/5
The elevator was , not working and some staff are not so friendly
- 5/5
Room was clean awesome place to stay
- 3/5
The people were very nice at the front desk. It was difficult to find the room. There’s a lot of elevators and stairs because it’s a Hacienda I guess cause it’s San Diego. I felt like the price is really high for the room. Not sure if I’m gonna go back.
- 5/5
Staff welcoming and available Room Cleans as well as Amenities Good Security Breakfast Buffet was all Fresh & many different items to choose from Close to many Restaurants Definitely my new favorite spot to stay when visiting San Diego from Northern California
- 5/5
Clean spacious room and the front desk staff was amazing!
- 4/5
Staf was nice and friendly.
- 4/5
It was clean and quiet. Front desk was not friendly at all. There is an additional $25 per day parking fee. I don’t think that was on the booking website.
- 5/5
The room was super clean, big and beautiful. A little older but that’s totally ok, it goes with the charm. One of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Very clean, staff was very helpful. Felt safe and quiet. Will definitely stay here again!!
- 2/5
Yes
- 5/5
Great stay staff is amazing shops were close I highly recommend your establishment
- 5/5
Room was large and clean.
- 5/5
Our favorite hotel
- 4/5
The shower wasn't draining and they never came to fix it.
- 1/5
I booked a room with a single king bed and when i arrived for check in they said there aren't any left. They blamed hotels.com and said they shouldn't overbook. I ended up with a room with 2 beds. My wife and I slept on different beds on valentine's day. I will never use hotels.com
- 5/5
Large clean room. I booked the suite but did not realize it was the President's Suite! The furniture is a bit worn and outdated, but comfortable, so don't change it!. The neighborhood (Old Town) is fun, with shops and restaurants and of course the Old Town park. We could see planes taking off when looking toward the airport, but they were not right overhead and not very noisy. On our next visit we'll hope to stay for more than one night.
- 5/5
Staff was nice rooms were clean. One negative is exhaust vent did not work
- 5/5
Nice place to stay near Old Town. The buffet breakfast had plenty of choices and well stocked.
- 1/5
Room appearance is awful. It appears like the rooms haven't been upgraded since the early 90's. Even saw what appeared to be a bed bug on the mattress. Shame on the hotel staff for keeping the hotel in this kind of condition. It has so much potential, especially being the closest hotel to OldTown San Diego (restaurants, giftshops and bars. Didn't initially believe the negative reviews prior to my experience but, Man!!! Did I learn my lesson.
- 4/5
Room was clean beds comfy closet was a bit dirty like not sure if cleaning crew missed areas, other than that my stay was good
- 3/5
The room was just okay. The mattress was in dire need of replacement. It was bumpy, and you could feel the springs. The furniture is also quite dated and in need of upgrades. On the flip side, the woman at check-in was very friendly.
- 2/5
Feel bad, everything no good. Only The staff were excellent.
- 5/5
Room was very clean, staff was very nice, overall very pleasant
- 1/5
This hotel is old, it smells, and the bed is lumpy. Not worth tge money anymore. I used to love staying here.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect, the room, the staff and location were all great
- 4/5
Friendly staff. Breakfast was not up as good as many other similar hotels.
- 5/5
Everyone was very friendly. Wasn’t to impressed with the breakfast though.
- 3/5
locations is old, rooms are not really set up to work, minimal outlets. Elevators were not working at the time, it's the little conveniences that were missing or not working. The shuttle service to and from the airport was not available. overall, the location is good, probably better if you're on vacation rather than business.
- 5/5
Alicia at the tequila factory was amazing. She made great suggestions and helped make our trip the best! Our check in person went above and beyond she was kind, personable and made our check in an enjoyable process. The manager Michelle took the time to answer questions before our arrival which was greatly appreciated, she went above and beyond simply the best hospitality. Finally the staff at breakfast welcomed us both mornings and were warm and engaging. Staff makes all the difference and at every level everyone was incredible.
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
Let's start off with a free hotel shuttle from the airport to the hotel. Very good. Registration went smoothly, but finding our room was interesting. The motel is multilevel and one has to follow instructions to find your room. We arrived in the evening so once was found our room we were off to the Old Town Tequila Factory Restaurant which is on the property. Again, a bit tricky to find as we had to use another elevator and go up a few floors. Back to the room it seemed a bit dated in it's decor. It was clean and for a one night stay before a cruise was excellent. Breakfast the next morning was included in the price so that was a plus. Did I mention there was also a free shuttle to the cruise port. Over all a very cost effective place to stay if you are going on a cruise out of San Diego. Definitely would do it again.
- 2/5
The room was very outdated, small, and musty. Was expecting more from a best western plus location. Don’t think we will be staying here again.
- 5/5
Very comfortable stay and staff very nice
- 5/5
Clean room. Helpful staff. Good restaurant. Attractive architecture and gardens.
- 5/5
Love coming to this hotel great staff & very clean.
- 5/5
Staff
- 4/5
Everything was great although the beds could be updated, or bed was squeaky and a little hard.
- 5/5
Hotel is really nice, breakfast delicious and staff great
- 5/5
Staff was so friendly and helpful. Loved the layout, the tiles, the fountains. Amazing breakfast.
- 5/5
Great room and great service. Was in San Diego earlier than expected and my room was ready two hours before. Great experience and a lot of things to do nearby! Definitely staying again!
- 5/5
Great as always.
- 5/5
The shuttle driver was very friendly. We cannot wait to come back for a longer stay!
- 4/5
Ok some staff were dude with no maners
- 4/5
The hotel grounds are impressive and aesthetically pleasing. You get some nice views of old town and the surrounding area. The included breakfast at the tequila factory is a nice addition. I also enjoyed the lobby coffee machine and the nice staff.
- 1/5
Room was ok but went I check in a black skinny guy was very rude and my room wasn’t ready by 4:45 pm and went i arrived at :11:30 I ask if is possible check early and the says come back on 1/1/2 hours and will be ready and never happened so I missed my appointments
- 5/5
Not your ordinary hotel, there are several small buildings that make up the facility. It's a beautiful setting. Our room was large and clean. The staff was very helpful.
- 4/5
Wonderful but the heater didn't seem to work at 72 degrees.
- 5/5
Location was outstanding. Room was clean. Couldn't believe the cost for what you get. Would stay every chance I got
- 4/5
Great location
- 5/5
Perfect place to explore Old Town.
- 5/5
All was great like always great staff very quick to getting our room
- 5/5
Very attractive hotel! Jeff, shuttle van driver to airport was incredibly kind and helpful. Only issue: Long line and wait to check-in even though it was several hours after check-in time. However, Super close to Old Town with multiple souvenir stores and restaurants. Easy to get complimentary coffee, tea, water. I would love to return to this hotel and will do so, if I am in San Diego again.
- 4/5
The room was clean. Staff was very nice and friendly.
- 4/5
The room was not spotless, but I'm pretty easy going about some of that. It was cleaned up better after the first night. The staff was great.
- 4/5
Spacious resort. Nice heated pool with a beautiful view. Staff was friendly and attentive. We were in town for our family’s Marine graduation. This resort offered shuttling to MCRD, and also the airport and cruise drop off. There seemed to be a lack of communication between the hotel and the drivers. Be absolutely sure you book the shuttle a day in advance. I did and they still weren’t able to do airport pick up. Not a good start as the only other option is uber/taxi. The bus system isn’t close. If you don’t have a car you will be stuck to the walkable parts. Old Town is beautiful and very walkable and safe however. Lots of nearby shops and Mexican restaurants!
- 1/5
Staff were very rude to my wife they actually made her cry and also we had a broken fire alarm so in case there was a fire we would not known
- 5/5
Rooms were clean. Staff very helpful and accommodating. They had a lot going on with MCRD graduation and they handled it all wonderfully. Some updating is needed but the atmosphere and over all cleanliness was wonderful.
- 3/5
.
- 5/5
The property is beautiful, and perfectly located, and the room was clean and very cute.
- 2/5
Staff had poor service,
- 2/5
But, the walls are so thin. We didn't sleep well at all because the upstairs neighbors were walking around and we could hear everything. Our next door neighbors television; they were watching family feud. Breakfast was good but when we arrived almost everything was out. We arrived an hour before the set end time. Definitely did not work for us, but I can see the appeal of staying there.
- 1/5
Noisy. I could hear children's footsteps all night long. The room door was difficult to open.
- 3/5
The heater made a lot of noise and the key card for the door needed to be reprogrammed a few times, but free parking and breakfast made up for the inconvenience so I called it wash.
- 4/5
Nice sized room, good location, friendly staff. It has older and not as high quality amenities but nothing bad or negative about them.
- 4/5
Nice sw spanish style architecture.
- 5/5
Bclean room and helpful staff.
- 4/5
Nice views. A lot of good restaurants and shops down the street.
- 5/5
Room was spotless and staff extremely helpful and kind. Definitely stay at this hotel again.
- 3/5
The room was big but very old. There was a hole in the bathroom door, looked like it could use a better cleaning, and not con located.
- 3/5
Great staff. Great location. Convenient parking for a fee. Room was in serious need of updating. A/C unit had a terrible musty smell. Couldn’t use it - had to keep the door open. Would only stay get again if it was $100 a night cheaper than anything else in the area.
- 5/5
Room is clean and the location is closed to old town.
- 4/5
downside for us is the fact that all the restaurants within walking distance and the one at the hotel served only Mexican food! We like Mexican but would have liked other choices. This morning the hotel has a buffet breakfast… hopefully there will be a variety of choices!
- 5/5
Check was fantastic, staff is so friendly. Excellent location with safe and convenient parking. The room and grounds are impeccable.
- 5/5
great walkable location
- 5/5
The room was very clean, but they rang me to do something about the noise, the windows are very thin single pain and you can hear everything and everyone almost like there in the room.
- 5/5
This really is a hidden gem. So close to everything old town and a well kept property.
- 5/5
Amazing facility!
- 1/5
The first room smelled very musty or moldy, we asked for another room and the hotel accommodated us, the front desk clerk was amazing
- 3/5
room was very old. Shuttle to airport didn't start until 6:30 am. I choose the place because it said it had an airport shuttle. I had to call Lyft to catch my flight.
- 1/5
Maintenance was lacking overall on all buildings. Some situations seemed very dangerous like the wood rotted 4th story balcony that was wrapped in caution tape but not blocked. There was a sink pipe completely off of the bottom of the sink in the lobby bathroom and the water barely trickled out, no signage was posted if it was unusable if they were even aware of the issue. We didn’t have a shower curtain in our room, we called for one twice and never got one. Extremely short staffed, the staff that were working there were pleasant. With the beautiful location and view it’s a shame there is not better upkeep.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful during our entire stay. The Best Western is located centrally to all things Old Town; the room was large, very quite, along with multiple patio areas with tables, chairs, and umbrellas. Our two favorite restaurants were a few minutes walk from our room door...
- 5/5
We always enjoy Old Town everything about it.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly
- 3/5
There was wood rot on the railings on the whole building. The room was small yet decent. The WiFi was out the whole stay. I was torn between a two and three star review yet went three du to the friendly front desk staff.
- 5/5
beautiful views, in the center of Old town, staff was excellent and helpful.
- 5/5
Spa was closed. Everything else was as advertised. Fun family stay at the right price.
- 4/5
there was no Breakfast. I love this property.. very clean. helpful staff....... Large rooms... everything is in the old mission type theme. I do wish they would do a little updating and modernizing in the bathroom area.
- 2/5
There was no sofabed in the room, only two chairs. There were bottles of water in the room, but they were open and had been drank from.
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
The staff went above and beyond. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we checked out. Even helped is after we left. CANT THANK THEM ALL ENOUGH!
- 5/5
Place was pretty much perfect
- 3/5
The room was a little dated but clean and the bed sligjtly uncomfortable for a Plus BW. The staff was fine at check in, which is the only time we conversed. The so called breakfast buffet, wasn't much more than an expensive n not do good continental breakfast.
- 3/5
Great location and beautiful views. The room was outdated.
- 5/5
Beautiful view nice place from outside. Need update but still loved it. Park spots are really narrow.
- 5/5
Great location, great staff
- 5/5
Friendly and prompt check in. Room however not impressive.
- 2/5
No early check in. Door lock lost programming 2 times. All very inconvenient
- 3/5
WiFi cannot be used. Bathroom is not good
- 4/5
Parking was not good, multiple buildings made it a little confusing, and the bathroom door kept getting stuck.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, clean room.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
Room was nice really spacious beautiful view but restroom not so great shower head was malfunctioning and my room key would just stop working out of nowhere. After walking all day get to the office from my room was hard work. But over all beautiful.
- 4/5
Clean room and staff.
- 5/5
Love this place ! Handy Tequila bar on the roof ! Employees are very friendly. Will stay again. Thank you !
- 5/5
Great location, excellent customer service. Highly recommended.
- 1/5
-Computers were down and we could not check in -When computers were back up, our keys did not work -Employee brought us key to a new room in a different bldg -Room had a strong musty odor and we were given a 3rd room -The next morning, the maid started knocking loudly at 9 am -We informed them that were still sleeping and had a noon checkout -Maid came back at 10 am, then 10:30 am and again at 11:15 am trying to get in the room
- 5/5
Wonderful place! Thank you
- 4/5
Lovely vintage era room
- 4/5
Area and building was nice
- 4/5
Very clean rooms although not updated. Great location only thing that made it not excellent was the airport shuttle was 20mins late for our ride to airport and they only offer it once an hour…
- 5/5
The staff was great. The shuttle driver Joe was extremely nice and we had a few great conversation a on the way to the hotel and again the next morning going back to the airport. I would for sure stay here again.
- 5/5
Convenient and friendly airport shuttle. Close to shopping and dining in Old Town.
- 5/5
Airport shuttle was convenient
- 4/5
Need remodeling of old rooms
- 5/5
Very close restraunts Very clean
- 4/5
À continental breakfast would be nice.
- 1/5
Mold on the tub, peeling paint inthe bathroom and the door jamb to the bathroom needs paint…they should never rent this room until the tub is replaced…also there is a chip on the tub…Room 410 is not good…I want a refund…i have pictures. I showed the pictures to the receptionist when i asked for a refund..Fran Prewitt 415 509-4442 or [email protected]
- 5/5
Everything was good
- 2/5
Room is smelly and feels dirty. I did not want to leave my toddler on the pullout mattress but I didn’t have to worry about that because she refused to go. Bedding was also thin. Overall shabby interior with a great location and nice exterior.
- 4/5
Entrance doorknob is not easy to open.
- 3/5
Several things were wrong, i originally asked for adjoining rooms, and had to request again after we checked in since my kids were traveling with me and our rooms were separated. The keycards kept getting disabled which meant multiple trips to the lobby to get it reprogrammed. The rooms smelled weird, like a mildew musty smell. There were homeless people sleeping in front of the hotel, and when we left to go walk around they were constantly asking us for things, which was uncomfortable. The phone in the room did not work, and the ac did not work, thw rooms get very humid. We really wanted to use the hot tub, and we stayed a week here, everyday we were told it would be open, it was still out of order when we left. I was told it just needed the water replaced. The shuttle service drivers were very nice, and the evening shift lobby employees that i spoke with often were also very kind. The restraunt attached to the hotel was good, and had great views.
- 5/5
Excellent service! Staff wonderful! Located in great place and beautiful!
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly. I really appreciate the efforts they made to accommodate every need we had the free shuttle also as a plus
- 5/5
Everything was great! Close to Old Town- everything was walkable. I wasn't far from Downtown. Front Office was friendly and very good experience. I would stay again and i would recommend to people
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
No water in room for coffee and supplies not replenished for next day. Tv sound not working had to call maintenance and quick fix was to hit Netflix, who would’ve none that.
- 5/5
The room was clean, the view from the balcony was unique, and the staff were super helpful when I first arrived.
- 5/5
Excellent service and friendly shuttle driver.
- 5/5
The staff were very professional and attentive. Always kind and smiling. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms were spacious and clean.
- 4/5
Room was great
- 5/5
Excellent location, courteous staff, great airport shuttle, delicious on-site restaurant.
- 3/5

- 5/5
Delightful
- 4/5
Clean and quiet
- 5/5
- 5/5
Clean room great front office staff. Very comfortable hotel.
- 3/5
Very old elevators, either they don’t work or very slow if they do
- 5/5
Friendly front desk staff
- 4/5
Location is great
- 2/5
Room key didn’t work. They put me in the farthest bldg from the lobby. There was apparently lot of empty rooms much closer. I would have preferred to have my room near the pool. No food service. Hotel price was not worth it. Not a good experience.
- 5/5
Very clean staff is very friendly and kind. Great place to stay
- 5/5
Great location in walking distance to Old Town, friendly staff, great room, all around pleasant place to stay.
- 2/5
This place has potential, but was very disappointing, mostly due to the staff. The staff was incompetent and unhelpful. Apparently, the airport shuttle was overbooked so it wasn’t an option. There was no decent coffee options, the room was dated, but fine, bed was good, but this place is a definite do not recommend!
- 5/5
Everything was great will be using this hotel in the future.easy check in and front staff was very nice l.
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Yes I will be back in December.
- 5/5
Staff was great and very helpful. Rooms were clean and very nice. Your hotel has a lot to offer. I will return again!
- 5/5
Room was comfortable . Only thing missing was a trash can . And would have lik
- 5/5
The staff was AMAZING and the location to MCRD was very important. Loved the area of Old Tiwne also! 0
- 5/5
Great location, staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Exceptionally nice room. No breakfast included?
- 5/5
This place is great! Close to everything and very nice staff and very clean!
- 1/5
People working there were not friendly. Systems were down. Rooms are dated and haven't been updated since
- 5/5
Loved the location and the pleasant and efficient way the staff treated us from airport pickup to checkin. We ended up with a large room with living area separate from bedroom. So much to see and do here in Old Town San Diego all within walking distance. Bed was comfortable and the unit was clean. Beautiful grounds as well. Used this as a pre cruise stay and they offer transportation to the port
- 5/5
Love staying here when coming to SD
- 5/5
Beautiful, walkable property. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful.
- 4/5
Room 308 was intermittently noisy. Brief periods of sleep disturbing machinery running. Room was set up for 2 guests...there were 3 of up...reserved well in advance of checking in. 2 coffee cups ...one bar of soap.
- 5/5
We were welcomed from the start of our shuttle driver and then the clerk who checked us in. Everyone we met were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very nice, clean and beautifully decorated. It was wonderful!
- 3/5
Stayed for one night room had a musty smell, decor well worn, bathroom was not clean properly and saw a dead mosquito on the tub wall.
- 5/5
We love the service and atmosphere 😊
- 4/5
Close to downtown
- 5/5
Love it
- 5/5
Ubicación en lugar histórico
- 5/5
Clean rooms, friendly staff, and a great view of the city
- 4/5
4pm check-in room was not ready so we left and came back later. Parking fee was waved because of our inconvenience. That was nice. The property was amazing along with the great location.
- 5/5
Staff was very professional and friendly
- 3/5
It’s non existent not offered
- 2/5
House keeping wasn’t on top of towels. Had to ask twice for some. And shuttle service. Hotel need to have two, especially on special occasions. Very disappointed.
- 5/5
This hotel is older but very well maintained and clean. We were there for a Marine Corp. graduation and the location was excellent. The courtyards and the landscaping were charming. We would definitely stay again.
- 2/5
No balcony. Parking lot view and ver noisey all night long.
- 5/5
Wonderful pocation
- 3/5
We stayed here for our son’s graduation from MCRD. We have stayed here before and love the scenery. The walking distance to the restaurants in Old Town. The rooms are clean. Jaivon was amazing he is at the front desk. Morning ladies are a little less helpful. You do have to schedule the shuttle which is perfectly fine. We just didn’t have a great experience with the return shuttle to the hotel. We were told to call when we got back to inspection and we did just that. Waited 1 hour took 3 Ubers back and the shuttle was sitting in the front entry way. When I expressed our concern to the ladies at the front it was, “I’m sorry, we don’t know what we can do for you!” Well, if you stay here make sure to have your own transportation back from graduation, uber, Lyft or whatever you choose. Don’t expect a ride back from the shuttle.
- 5/5
A beautiful ‘Heritage park’ right across the street. Very quiet. The rooms are very dated. Furniture is beat up and old. Definitely needs a refresh. Room is clean. Bathroom small. Nice small kitchen with some supplies. Coffee maker, toaster, dishes for two people. You have to bring your own dish soap and dish towels if you plan to cook. Lots of stairs or steps.
- 4/5
I liked the hotel but I got a room in the 600's and it was a trek just to get to our room. Otherwise, was a nice stay.
- 5/5
View of MCRD was so great, front desk was so incredibly kind and helpful
- 3/5
Doors had huge gap once locked, rooms are poorly designed and set up. Not enough sings to know where you are going on the property, no bathrooms at pool. Lots of places to eat within walking distance. But older and dated. There was homeless sleeping at the back gate that faces old town to get back into the property. Nothing at all for kids to do pool is small.
- 3/5
Place was clean but the toilet stinks. When we entered room lots of flying insects not sure what they were so we started killing them. One remote for 2 televisions kept switching from room to room. Worse part was looking forward to brunch. Got there at 9 it ends at 10 on weekends. Food was cold, bacon was sitting in grease scrambled eggs floating in water and chilaquiles were literally just crumbs.
- 5/5
When I booked this hotel I didn’t realize where the location was, so we didn’t know what to expect. I booked it for the airport shuttle that begins running at 6:30am, so we didn’t use it. But the location of this hotel was excellent if you are looking to visit Old Town San Diego. We were in walking distance from shop and restaurants and enjoyed being so close. The hotel was a cute design and clean and felt safe. The staff was helpful and accommodating, letting us store our luggage while we waited and then ultimately getting us a room before the 4pm time. We would stay again!
- 5/5
Perfect location to everything in old town would definitely stay here again.
- 1/5
We arrived at 1:30 and attempted an early check in. No one at this time had arrived. Given that this hotel has approximately 197 rooms; none were available for check in as we were told. Despite this, people started arriving and they were given preferential treatment. We were eventually checked in after 4:30 pm and placed in the most dirtiest and unkempt room . Dust everywhere, the balcony was unswept. The bathroom lights were inoperable, the furniture were broken, dead flora, cobwebs everywhere, carpet stains, and furniture stains and the air conditioning inoperable. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. Staff was unresponsive, both front desk and housekeeper.
- 3/5
The rooms desperately need upgrading! The rooms are too spread out and difficult to find. Time to invest some money in what could be very nice and fun to stay!
- 5/5
My first time. Beautiful place. Helpful staff
- 5/5
I love places like this with a local feel. Interesting and complex layout but worth the adventure. Give them a chance
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. The scenery, views and hotel architectural style was picturesque
- 5/5
Greeted with warmth and friendly hospitality. The shuttle was so helpful and the driver so very nice. Definitely would stay here again
- 5/5
👍
- 5/5
Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Restaurant on site as well.
- 5/5
Great as always!
- 3/5
Room was clean, needs remodeling very badly, too many disconnected buildings. Elevators barely worked!
- 5/5
Clean room, staff was super friendly and attentive.
- 5/5
No pets allowed
- 4/5
Stayed for an overnight stay in Old Town. Room was spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. Room is a bit dated but entire property has a unique charm to it. Plenty of shopping and things to see within feet of the property. Kids enjoyed the heated pool and jacuzzi.
- 5/5
Every single thing has been amazing. Ricky, the airport shuttle driver was so friendly and helpful, the woman at the check in desk was professional, friendly, and beyond accommodating, the hotel and the grounds are gorgeous and close to everything. This place was a great find!
- 5/5
I loved it.
- 5/5
Airport shuttle was punctual and the driver asked when the next flight was. Hotel staff was friendly and the room was comfortable.
- 3/5
Location and cleanliness were great. On the other hand, the key cards would not work continuously because they “get deactivated” when they are close to mobile phones and other technology. So we had to go to the front desk numerous times to reactive the cards.
- 3/5
Room was very old and very sketch but great location
- 4/5
No pets were allowed. The door leading into the room was very difficult to open. The shower handle was stripped, and it was difficult controlling the temperature and shutting it off.
- 5/5
Had a great stay. Our room had a private balcony and great view of old town. I liked that it is convenient to all Old Town has to offer. We could walk all around town. We ate at the onsite restaurant for the buffet breakfast and buffet lunch for a reasonable cost and it was very good. The swimming pool was so nice and the water warm. Staff was nice and accommodating. Will stay here again.
- 4/5
The hotel and staff were great. The restaurant at the hotel, not so much. The food was mediocre but the waiter left a lot to be desired.
- 5/5
Is good, but it is difficult to go to rooms. There are many stairs
- 2/5
This Hotel is old and run down. Not worth the price they’re charging. We couldn't even park in the parking garage because it was full. The air conditioner was making a load noise when on. I very disappointed in my stay.
- 5/5
Was really impressed with this property. Me and my wife went on a little getaway for our anniversary to old town San Diego. The property was walking distance to all the restaurants and stores. What we loved about it was the cleanliness and it was really quiet. We will sure stay there again. No complaints.
- 1/5
We had asked for a first floor. Because we booked with Expedia, they put us on the third floor.
- 1/5
They advertise an airport shuttle but it only runs on the hour-even though the airport is about a mile from the hotel. The state of the facility is very poor-the shutters are being held together with some sort of large staples it seems. The pillows are lumpy, the door to the bathroom doesn’t close, the door of the fridge doesn’t close. The television was broken. The ceilings are thin and you can hear every footstep of the guests above you. The staff was kind and mostly responsive except when we changed rooms, the person who walked us to the new room didn’t wait until we got inside to make sure everything was ok. She just pointed to the room and hurried off. The hotel is set up like a hacienda, making going back to the lobby for help incredibly complicated…..stairs, walkways, door ways and an elevator. But, bottom line, the worst part was the intense smell of rot in the rooms.
- 3/5
When we arrived at hotel at 5pm there was a line of guests out the door to check in. Only one person was at the front counter. It took us over 45 minutes to get checked in.
- 3/5
Took an hour to check in. Rooms were not ready. Key did not work. Rooms felt average. Good for a one night stay.
- 2/5
I recently stayed at the Best Western Plus Hacienda in Old Town San Diego and wanted to share a disappointing experience during check-in. Check-in was scheduled for 4:00 PM, but when we arrived, our room was not ready. I was initially told to wait 10 minutes, but when I returned, there was still a long line of guests in the same situation. After nearly two hours past the official check-in time, we were finally able to access our room—causing us to miss a dinner reservation we had planned. To make matters worse, when a staff member kindly attempted to honor the 10-minute promise and assist me, other waiting guests became upset, creating a tense and unsafe situation that left me shaken. While I understand that occasional delays can happen, the lack of communication and organization was unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber.
- 5/5
Check was easy. The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean. Pool was great and the convenience of all the shops and restaurants there were awesome.
- 5/5
The room was larger than expected, well equipped, a comfy bed/pillows, was quiet, the staff were friendly and the price was great got a quick weekend trip!
- 2/5
1. TV had no sound. 2. Room key cards repeatedly stopped working, leaving us locked out multiple times. The worst instance was after dinner at the onsite Tequila restaurant. After walking down three flights of stairs (some areas have no elevators, which is not ADA compliant), we exited through a gate and had to re-enter another gated door about 15 feet away to get back into the hotel. We had to walk around the building, out to the Old Town street and into the main hotel entrance, just to have the key reprogrammed. Even then, it still didn’t work. After 2 more trips to lobby with bad keys we gave up. 3. Woken up at 6:45 AM by loud noise from a garbage disposal truck rucus 4. The hotel layout is confusing, both for parking and navigating the premises. Many visitors were heard complaining. 5. The bedroom had an old, rusty door facing a public parking lot, which made the room feel unsafe. 6. The property is not ADA compliant. Accessibile rooms are 4stories up. 7. The rooms felt dingy, old, and unsafe. 8. My significant other's parent's room was left open by housekeeping. We noticed this when we got back for the day at 6:30pm. This is ridiculously inappropriate and unsafe!! If I could give this hotel zero stars, or even subtract stars from their hotel ratings, I would.
- 4/5
Over all great location!
- 4/5
kid friendly, great food.
- 5/5
- 3/5
Area is nice. The rooms themselves are quite small and A/C units don't cool down the rooms effiencently. Breakfast buffet is lack luster. Some of the sketchiest elevators I have been on.
- 5/5
Stay was great staff was amazing
- 5/5
Perfect spot in Old Town. Staff was super nice
- 5/5
it was nice, not knowing that we were gonna have turned down services every day that we were there coming back to a freshly made bed and clean town in our room was amazing
- 4/5
Very nice.
- 2/5
Very outdated furniture and beds. The beds here are not true to size and the shutters don’t close completely for privacy in your room. What’s up with the sliding door for the restroom with a tiny lock??? View was amazing but definitely not going to book again.
- 5/5
Love the location. Can upgrade the rooms a bit.
- 5/5
Very nice facility at old town and close to all other sights
- 3/5
The look of the property was totally old California- sprawling and beautiful. The room was clean, spacious and lovely. The parking is awful.
- 5/5
The grounds were beautiful and decor kept with the spirit of Old Town San Diego. They only complaint I would have is that very very early in the morning on level three workers kept going back-and-forth with their cart and it was extremely noisy and I did not get to enjoy sleeping in as our checkout wasn’t until 11 AM.
- 5/5
The room was very excellent and restful
- 5/5
400 rooms are close to the city noise. Dump trucks and car noise. Units in 300 are much better.
- 3/5
I usually stay here two nights every three months, No more....Front desk staff were very nice, but housekeeping were rude, they look upset , I said good morning and they just look at you with a rude attitude rolled their eyes and just ignore you. And it's not the first time! They were hairs by the sofa, No water. Rooms looks they need to be updated, The pillows were saggy, parking lot is very reduced,. Elevators are old and ditty, They smell. I'm hoping because it was a busy weekend. It was very loud, You can hear everything from the hall, up to the room's upstairs. The room beside us had a baby kept crying most of the night. The property looks dirty, There was a Tequila factory restaurant, We were there at 10am, There is no service un til 11am. Breakfast was until 10am, and until 11 am were available. It's just disappointing this used to be such an amazing hotel, not anymore!
- 1/5
Had to wait in lobby for room to be ready about 5 pm
- 4/5
Clean room and bathroom, a/c kept room cool, all staff were friendly
- 5/5
Front desk staff very helpful. Room accommodations 5 Stars. Thanks
- 5/5
We planned a mother-daughter trip here and it was just perfect. The hotel was clean. The staff was friendly and the grounds were well kept. I highly recommend this place. We will be back again!
- 2/5
I stayed in building #6. The room was big, but run-down. The furniture was old, the wood was scratched/chipped and appeared dirty. The bathroom was old and small. Service was great though.
- 4/5
Beautiful property, great location.
- 4/5
Hotel has everything you need. It is a little outdated but charming
- 1/5
Not a great place to stay, rooms and the hotel really need an update. A lot of things were not working. I supposed to be there 2 nights I left after the first one
- 5/5
We had a gret stay, would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful property very very very large.
- 4/5
Guests should know there is no bellman to help with luggage, and just a few luggage carts. Elevator is extremely slow and used by housekeeping. Way too many stairs for seniors, someone can easily get hurt, the stairs are steep. Pool was dirty. The hotel is beautiful, great view and great rooms, they just need to focus on safety and a little more on the needs of the guests.
- 5/5
I love this place. It goes with the vibe of old town and is a magical place to stay. 5 stars all the way.
- 4/5
I liked the Hacienda look. Grounds are open with fountains & nice pottery. I like the location of the hotel. The pool & hot tub are nice, although, one pool & hot tub is not enough for the size of the hotel. They should have a bathroom(s) by the pool, otherwise, you have to run up to your room to use the bathroom.
- 5/5
Cute room. Comfortable bed. Great location
- 3/5
I liked how centrally located it is, but they could definitely use some upgrades with the carpet and bathrooms. It's noisy if you're on the West facing rooms.
- 5/5
Awesome!
- 5/5
Very clean, centrally located easy access to transportation just totally excellent area
- 5/5
Really liked the experience from the onset. Staff was friendly, pleasant, and responsive to our needs. Property is maintained. Surrounding area is great. Great dining areas nearby. Close to the freeway for access to everything we did on this trip. Parking was available every single night we were there. Some spaces were tight for our Dodge Durango, but otherwise manageable. Occasional issue with the key card, but they responded quickly to handle the issue. We had a very enjoyable 3 nights and look forward to coming back.

Birthday trip to my favorite Hotel!!! Have been going to Old Town for years n always stay at the hacienda! The hotel is perfect n right in the middle of Old Town so my first few days are spent exploring n eating!!! Highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed
- 5/5
Awesome
- 4/5
Place is a bit outdated
- 2/5
Yo reserve un cuarto con doble camas quins con sofa cama y extra espacio y me dieron cuarto muy chico sin sofa cama y dos sillas muy pequeñas 😡
- 5/5
Great location, Vivian at the front desk was very nice, and very helpful, thank you Vivian
- 5/5
The parking situation needs to improve
- 3/5
The property is clean and well maintained from the outside. Our room was clean. The rooms are in dire need of some renovations, the rooms are very outdated and dark. Love the location but again the rooms needs some TLC.
- 4/5
Very nice hotel, will stay here again. I did notice the walls are paper thin... neighbors were talking probably normal voices volume at night and I could hear them... that was rough.
- 5/5
Loved it, this is the only place we stay at when we visit San Diego. Just booked our next trip for next month. The room was beautiful
- 2/5
In the time it took me to go get a parking permit ticket at the front desk to put on the car windshield, someone took a pry bar and pryed off the car emblem and damaged the trunk lid of my car. I did not feel safe when I drove in and felt someone must have been following me when I drove in to park. I reported it to the hotel staff right away after I noticed it and they took an incident report. They concluded, that they do not have any cameras on the inside of the parking areas are not responsible for any damages to vehicles. They said to submit the damage claim to my insurance. They later comped me the cost of parking. This is the second time my car has been damaged in the same Bldg. 1 parking structure, approx. 5 years ago. The hotel does not have any protection for cars parking in their parking garages with adequate lighting and surveillance systems, etc. At the high cost of $39.00 per day to park you would think they would have better protection systems in place to help protect the people and vehicles.
- 5/5
Older hotel but nice location for visit to Old Town - train is close by
- 5/5
Loved the property. It’s perfect and fitting for Old Town San Diego. The property is also located with in walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in Old town. Nice to not have to find parking and just be able to walk.
- 5/5
Plus is that the hotel has a restaurant on the property. Breakfast buffet was delicious and while as dinner. After 10pm the area is quiet and beautiful views from anywhere in the hotel.
- 3/5
Breakfast was good
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
I loved the view from my room.
- 4/5
About a 10 minute walk from the trolley. Lots of restaurants near by to eat and some convenience stores. The hotel is split into different sections so depending what building number you are in, you may have to walk a bit more. The breakfast was decent for it's price. The only negative thing was the gym, it was small, hot and there's barely any equipment.
- 5/5
Great location, nice unique property.
- 3/5
Its a huge and old complex on various levels that's not easy to get around...especially when you have knee issues.
