Reviews
The hotel's location is highly praised for its proximity to Old Town Sacramento and other local attractions. However, cleanliness and maintenance are major concerns, with several guests reporting dirty rooms, unpleasant smells, and lack of thorough cleaning. The hotel's service is also inconsistent, with some guests reporting friendly staff while others mention unprofessional behavior and poor communication.

We had 1 party cancel at the very last minute, literally on the way to the airport and they allowed us to cancel one of 3rooms for a refund even though we booked through Expedia. Very thankful!

The hotel is under construction, so our room was partly renovated, but otherwise, it was quite a mess. The elevator was out, the breakfast was minimal and the gym was closed. No microwave in the room.
- 4/5
We stayed in an accessible room. The room/bathroom was very nice, but they had no handicapped parking or usable ramps in front of the room.
- 4/5
Room was clean, staff was ok wish they were more friendly for recommendations around the property. Hot tub was good wish they offered towels for the pool. Air conditioning was ok not consistent. Over all a great stay with renovations.
- 4/5
Good for a night or two close to Old Sac.
- 4/5
The staff is helpful but due to renovations , the place did not look its best . The coffee maker in my room was not working, made service never cleaned the room. But the a/c worked , the bed is comfy and the inn was in the perfect spot , so that we could walk or bike everywhere we went .
- 2/5
We found long black hairs in our towels. The continental breakfast was a croissant and there was some Philly cheese and that was it nothing to drink. The room service was the worst. It was one guy we asked for some towels, got them three hours later and he said I was busy so I would not recommend this hotel to anyone although the pool and hot tub or a gathering place for our group other than that, I do not recommend this facility.
- 2/5
The bathroom smelled and had something growing on the grout, the exterior door let air and light through even when locked, and you could hear please walking past all night long.
- 1/5
We never stayed at the hotel as we had entered the wrong date by accident and they refused to help us out even when they still available rooms they left it till after our check in time and then let know they couldn’t help us so we had to other accommodation and they kept our money
- 4.5/5
It was very close to old town and other attractions. The establishment was fairly decent. The establishment was under construction. Also, there was no microwave inside the room. But was one on the property.

Most of the reviews here are before the place was gut renovated. Post renovation this is a good place to stay. I stayed for an amtrack layover and was more than satisfied!

It’s good location to go have dinner and shop Nothing bad I can say
- 2/5
they were mid construction the elevator wasn't working, a lot of dust and the location is good for the train station but for nothing else
- 1/5
Area unfinished rooms, door wasn’t sealed tight huge gap under the door big enough for bugs to get through let a lot of outside sound in, every car rev and every scream from the homeless man near by screaming his head off at the air. Dirty sheets with stains.

Worst part - I visited Sacramento to see my brother, dying in hospital. The first night I slept at hospital so when I went back to hotel to check out early - brother was being moved into hospice at home the property did not allow me to check out early. They billed me for five nights. No early checkout. I paid almost $800 for one night when I didn’t sleep there. Don’t take a chance on this hotel.

Location is fantastic! Old Town is across the street and the Sutter Health baseball park is 5 minutes driving time!
- 3/5
The front desk had no idea what was around the hotel. He did not even know how to get to the Ball Field. Close to old Sacramento. 30 minute walk to the Ball field once we figured out how to get there. Good neighborhood.
- 3.5/5
Great location, near Amtrak, walkable to old Town shops & restaurants, walkable to Sutter Ballpark ( Athletics). Staff was pleasant and accomodating They are doing a remodel, lots of construction equip & debris, elevators not working etc. The rooms were clean but definitely run-down ( they need the remodel....understand why trying to stay open during process but wish we knew that upfront)
- 3/5
Well, this place is currently undergoing renovations, I was not aware when I booked it. No internet & no TV. Seemed clean enough until I found some hair (not mine in the shower & bathroom sink). The people I was travelling with had issues checking in. Bed was really comfortable, did not use the pool/hot tub but it looked OK. Not sure about the condiments.
- 5/5
They're currently remodeling, only thing that was SLIGHTLY inconvenient for us was the elevator didnt work. Everything else was amazing. Staff friendly, everything was well maintained and clean. All other guests were quiet and its in a good location. Will stay again!!!

We were on the first floor and far from the parking lot and nearly every room was covered in plastic due to construction. We stayed 4 nights due to the rate, free parking and location to freeways and old town.
- 3/5
The beds were comfortable. I like how this hotel is walking distance to the Golden1 center and Old Sacramento. I will say the bathroom is kinda dirty but I've seen worse. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Very convenient! We love old town SAC! Walking distance to the A’s!
- 3/5
The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. They are remodeling, so the hotel is not quite up to standard. But as I stated, the bed was comfortable. The shower curtain was put up incorrectly, making it hard to use, but the room was fine. The price was good.

Location, location, location Air conditioner did not work correctly. The fan came on or ran continuously but would not cool. Some Travelers a few doors down had the same problem. The free breakfast needs a lot of help I’ve stayed here many times and have given outstanding reviews to this property but this time Im not able to share that option. The location is great but a comfortable Experience is a big negative. Towels were spotless rooms were clean but not being able to open a window to help cool the room made for a serious uncomfortable long night. Note to new owners, the rate was not a discount so don’t rent the room out if the property has major problems. Where’s the Executive Suites Part in the name. It was more like motel drive.

Best hotel in the area !!! Everything from cleanliness to accommodating staff !

Had issues with TV,but was resolved the following day, early. Inn was under renovations or something so not too much traffic which was good. Elevator was down, but needed exercise 😅. Pretty close (walking distance) to everything we were there for. Staff was very nice and helpful. Bed was awesomely comfortable. Room needed some help, but overall not bad.

Close to river front And downtown. Cleanliness could have been better. Found a random bra under the tv.

Friendly staff, and room was quiet on the midweek nights that I stayed. Construction in May 2026 — but that will pass and the place will look nicer.
- 2/5
Edward at reception was great! Attentive and friendly. It is very convenient to Old Sacramento. The pool and hot tube were well maintained. The furniture was very worn. The room was very loud, almost no sound insulation from people walking by and freeway sounds. The pool had a view of the freeway. The room had a view of the parking lot. The air conditioner aimed directly onto one of the two beds. It cost $315 for a worn motel.

The Vagabond sits across the street from the Amtrak station, which was immensely helpful after 30+ hours on the train. The morning staff willingly watched our bags from our 7:00 AM arrival until check-in at 1:00 PM. I had sent a request a week earlier for an early check-in time, to which they never responded. The morning staff couldn't check us in, so we left our bags in their care while we found breakfast nearby and walked around a little. The room was in a darkened alleyway near an adjacent building, in an un-landscaped stretch of the grounds. Fine for sleeping, but uninviting to stay around. The clogged sink drained slowly. Although they advertised a continental breakfast, none was forthcoming.

Breakfast was pretty sparse. And, there is a lot of construction going on at the hotel. But, great location and nice staff!
- 4/5
Noisy right now, comfortable stay right in town.
- 1/5
The location was great! When we arrived, the receptionist had just given our King Size bed away to the single gentleman standing infront of us, and then when he started helping us, he informed us (a newly engaged couple) that there are no King sized beds left but he can give us 2 x double beds. That is NOT what I booked and then he refused to admit that he had just given it to the guy infront of us, who when he was offered the bed, the gentleman clearly exlaimed “Oh wow… at no extra cost I can get a King size, yes, I’ll take it”.
- 5/5
Cool
- 5/5
I was warmly greeted when I checked in. Room was clean and had the amenities I needed. Walking distance to downtown, arena, old Sacramento, river and ballpark. Quiet too overnight. Staff was helpful in the am when I asked to check my bag at front desk while I did some sightseeing.
- 5/5
Construction/remodel. But it sure will be nice the next time I stay there!
- 4/5
Staff was friendly and helpful. Especially when the water got turned off cuz a pipe burst. Not a huge fan of laminate floors in the rooms. But the bed was really comfortable. The AC in the room might have needed calibrating because it didn’t feel like 70. The door was difficult to close as well. The majority of the property was getting a major renovation so i expect much of this will be improved.
- 4/5
Doing construction on hotel durning stay.
- 3/5
The hotel is undergoing renovations. Hopefully it will be improved. The onsite store could offer more. The breakfast was disappointing (muffins, bagels and coffee). I did enjoy cookies in the lobby. It is convenient to Old Sac (better driving than walking) The staff could offer friendlier customer service with requests and suggestions.
- 4/5
beds and pillows a little old. cold floors. liked the amenities, pool, spa, simple breakfast included, Parking a big plus, proximity to Golden 1 and Old Town big plus, 5 minute walk to Old Town...highway noise not too bad.

- 2/5
I arrived. I waited in the lobby for about 10 minutes before any staff came in to check me in. I was given a room that might have been cleaned. I noticed shoe marks on the on the floor in the bathroom, some "cream" on the shower walls, and everything in the room was dated - including the chipped counter tops in the bathroom. The entire property is being renovated. Most of the rooms are being gutted. Drywall dust is everywhere. There was construction equipment outside of my room. Waking up on Sunday morning to the sound of electrical saws and hanmers was a bonus feature not listed on the Expedia website. You could definitely charge more. The included breakfast was a bagel. They may have had bread. I don't remember seeing a toaster. There was coffee. Hot water for tea. Nothing else was available. No cereal, fruit, milk, juice...nothing. The highlight of the stay in the Vagabond was a plate of cookies in the reception area and I happily took a handful. I hope they are able to sell the location and someone else takes over and improves the facility. The site location is amazing and it's really disappointing that we don't have more options in Sacramento that close to Old Town.
- 3/5
80% of the properties rooms are being renovated. Very noisy and tons of construction de The room itself was not very clean.
- 2/5
We also ran out of toilet paper late at night and had to walk to the reception area to get more, as no one offered to bring it to the room. What bothered me most was that this happened around 9 PM and there were two employees at the front, one of whom was sitting on the couch at the time. Another issue was that our TV did not work. I called while we were out and asked if someone could at least take a look at it or try to fix the issue, but I was simply told "no." That said, considering the price, the stay was not terrible. The location was convenient, check-in was quick, and they did allow us to check in three hours early at no extra charge, which I appreciated. However, knowing what I know now, I would personally spend a little more to stay somewhere better next time.
- 1.5/5
The location and cost were very good. The TV didn't work in the first room so we had to move rooms. The hotel advertised a gym but that was not available. There was constant construction ongoing which was very annoying in the morning. The volume button on the remote control for the TV was terrible and took about ten presses to go up or down one spot. There was a yellow stain under the sheets on the mattress that we noticed right before we left.
- 4/5
Construction was going on and we were not told about it. Started working at 8:30 AM, gym was closed and breakfast was coffee and donuts. The staff was very pleasant.
- 5/5
This hotel is a great deal and excellent location, being across the freeway from Old Town and right in the center of things. The parking is free (the $600/night Embassy across the road charges $50 for parking). The continental breakfast was surprisingly tasty. I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel.
- 3/5
Floor in room was pretty filthy. Assuming this was one of their "renovated" rooms, but the renovations were so poor that they were already failing. Was nice to have a fridge, bed was comfy, but was not clean.

- 2/5
Cheap and super loud. Not worth saving a few dollars
- 2/5
When we arrived the place was like a building site - noise, drilling and dust from renovating. We were given a room on the ground floor and it was terrible - it was next door to the staff room so noise and food smell came in at times. The actual room smelt of food and the fridge stank of fish, even so it was empty. You cannot open a window as it is bolted. The toilet bowl was leaking and the sink was very slow draining, almost blocked. We alerted the staff and on day 2 they sent someone who repaired the toilet bowl, but not the sink. Bed was comfortable. Every morning the drilling started at 8am, forget it if you want to sleep in a bit longer. The reception staff was helpful - we ended some coffee pods for the morning and he came to the maids room to give us some.

The hotel is in a great location for walking old Sacramento. That was the high point. It’s literally right off the highway. The highway is loud from the location, if you’re bothered by noise. They have breakfast, but it’s coffee, a few muffins and bagels only. The property is being renovated, they started work on that very early in the morning. If you’re looking for a no frills easy place to stay while exploring the city, this is the place.
- 1/5
Property was under construction with work starting before 8 AM. AC in the room was horribly loud and did not work. Overnight parking was $10 and was not mentioned on Expedia’s website. On a positive note the location is phenomenal. 1 block away from Old town. 5 minute walk to the Golden 1 center. Maybe when the construction is done it will be better.
- 1/5
Place is under construction
- 5/5
This hotel has a convenient location for the train station and staff there are wonderful.
- 2/5
I suppose I should be thankful for the price but I did not have a good experience at the hotel. I had no idea there was construction going on during my stay. Most rooms are under renovation. During my stay: there was no shower curtain on the shower. The tv didn’t work. There was no housekeeping in the 4 nights I stayed there. While the staff was nice these issues could not be overlooked and they were slow to resolve them. At least the beds were comfortable and the lobby cookies were tasty.

Our train arrived at 6 a.m...... we had a reservation for the night... they had a open room.... so they checked us in at 7 a.m.!!!!!! NO ONE DOES THAT!!! IT WAS AMAZING!!! Also it's so close to the station its perfect! Construction/remodel. But it sure will be nice the next time I stay there!

Asked to check in early and the request was approved. Clean room, AC worked well, no wash clothes though. The entertainment table under the TV was a little wonky, but it was pretty quiet for a Friday. Oh and TV didn’t work but I don’t watch TV anyway.
- 4/5
Hot tub function switch did not function. Pool was cold. Construction made it noisy and difficult to park.
- 5/5
I had a wonderful time at this hotel especially because of the poolside area and the proximity to Historic Old Town. Also I felt extremely fortunate that this place was a short walking distance from the Amtrak train station :)
- 5/5
The property is currently under MAJOR renovation. However, the rooms that are open are nice, clean, and a VALUE you cannot beat anywhere. The front desk staff were awesome and this was my 2nd visit.
- 1/5
Didn"t sleep AT ALL! While trying to fall asleep the maintenance was working on something electrical, that and I was unable to find any programming on the TV. The remote had a bunch of buttons that did nothing! Overall, I will never stay at the Vagabond Again Anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found this hotel convenient right across from Amtrak train station and across the street from Old Sacramento tourist area with Joe's Crab Shack on the river with the golden bridge view. I'll be staying here again for my weekends of warmth out of cold San Francisco.
- 1/5
The room itself was very disappointing—stained sheets, a roach in the bathroom, and overall lackluster conditions. To make matters worse, the staff was dismissive and refused to issue a refund despite failing to disclose the construction. This experience was unacceptable. If major renovations are happening, the hotel should close until it’s complete. Shame on you, Vagabond.

The room was fine and the staff was friendly. Much of the property was under construction so it was pretty empty. It is right by the freeway and loud.

Check in was quick and easy, accessible on site parking, clean updated room. Easy to locate right off of the freeway.

Location Switched out of disability room at last minute. Hot tub was lukewarm. No bathtub stopper available So tub in room unusable. Receptionist said no extra blankets available had to ask room cleaner who gave us one. Drunk next room woke us at 2 am with loud talking, laughing and door slamming. Stale selection of pastries in the morning.
- 1/5
Just not pleased with the cleanliness
- 1/5
The tv wouldn't work, the only items for breakfast were bagels and coffee, the refrigerator made loud noises all night long, the bed was hard, both guys that worked the front desk said we will give you a discount next time. What makes you think I would come back to that dump.
- 3/5
Great location
- 3/5
For the price of the room i expected better choices and quality. In their defense of my property rating a massive remodel seemed to be in progress.
- 3/5
The location was great, it was so close to the Golden One arena for the event we were attending. Good for a quick stay. The property is in the middle of construction and it is very disruptive to the people staying there. The area is right off the freeway not the best area but definitely not the worst.
- 3/5
Proximity to train and Entertainment Chaos, half hotel being renovated, rooms lots of dust and smell
- 3/5
Plenty of parking. Hotel was decent for the price and excellent for the location if you’re going to old sac or the stadium. Room was in decent condition. Breakfast was just a few beagles or croissants. The hotel is going through a remodel so I’ll give some grace. Overall I’d stay here again.
- 2/5
This is a bare bones place. The room is clean and the bed was comfortable, but there is certainly nothing "executive" about this. You get a room with bare walls and bare floor, a bed, a small table with one chair, television and nothing else. The location is very convenient to downtown and old town Sacramento, but it is also next to a freeway and it's noisy all night. I stayed at the end farthest from the freeway but still got a lot of freeway noise. I heard people carousing and yelling until the early morning hours. The single pane windows do not keep any noise out. The blackout curtains do not eliminate the bright light from the walkway so the room never really got dark. I don't want to say it is a dump, but it is certainly not a place where any executive would stay. I guess you get what you pay for and you do not pay for much here.
- 2.5/5
Clean room when arrived, but room was not cleaned for second day (stayed for two nights). Near railway station and old Sacramento area. Also near NBA arena and restaurants district. Guy at reception was talking quite bad in English when arrived. Asked for invoice for my company after payment and he said he can`t do this and I should ask booking.com for invoice (first time I hear that booking.com issues invoice under hotel name, even in African countries you can get an invoice when requested). Had room for two nights, no cleaning after first night. Doors of the room was not working properly. On Friday night there was a party somewhere in hotel area where drunk russians were fighting (it is not a hotel problem I guess) but nobody take care to calm them down or call the police
- 3/5
Pool was dirty, I was there for a full week and no one cleaned the pool! The kids had to use the Jacuzzi. It’s a great spot to be in Downtown Sacramento and close to everything in downtown. Staff was rude! We ask to have our rooms close by then they said it was full and we see multiple rooms empty in our floor. We ask for butter for breakfast and they were rude and mentioned they don’t have any. Sink were filled w mold and our sheet had stains so we took them off and bought a reusable sheet to add on top on the bed and reusable blankets.
- 5/5
Close to the arena. Ample parking.
- 3/5
The bed was not good and having workers tear apart half the rooms made for a very noisy stay
- 4/5
It was a nice stay overall. Clean room and very comfortable bed and pillows. Great location! They are doing some construction, so we woke early to machinery and shouting, which wasn’t great, but other than that, I would definitely recommend!
- 1/5
I do not recommend this hotel unless you have NO WHERE ELSE TO GO. They didn’t tell us that the hotel was under construction and they did tell that our water will be going out and we will not be able to shower till the night. There was a limited about of facilities in the building that we’re working and when we got to shower the NEXT DAY the tub would fill up and take hours to drain. And when we addressed this to the manger or the front desk the cussed us out when all we wanted was our money back they said that they couldn’t and when someone who said was in the management side of the hotel came he was eating a bad of popcorn in our face and talking to us as if we were stupid. I would not come to this Hotel unless you don’t have a SINGLE OTHER OPTION.
- 5/5
Perfect spot for golden one center!!

Pictures were deceiving, felt so unsafe the second I pulled up to the property. Building seemed to have construction everywhere. Didn’t even end up staying I booked another room somewhere else.

Everything was great
- 4/5
I unfortunately used Booking.com. My first floor request was not shared with hotel so we surprised registration staff with our need. Hotel in the middle of renovations but they were able to find us a first floor room. Breakfast was meager. Bagel was good but would have liked some additional items. Yogurt or fruit would have been apprecited or cereal/milk.
- 4/5
Overall, the rooms were clean and the location was great. We walked over to the golden one center very easily. I would stay here again. They do have some construction going on, but I think the room we stayed in had been recently renovated so that was nice.
- 3/5
There was construction noise during the day. The elevators weren’t working. Basic room with threadbare comforter. Good location.
- 5/5
Super convenient location near the Golden 1 center. The staff are nice. Plenty of parking on the property. Will definitely stay again especially when we go watch games at Golden 1

- 4/5
Good hotel, excellent location.
- 4/5
Why no microwave? New room with no place to hang clothes?
- 5/5
It’s a perfect walk to old town or a five dollar Uber ride super close to the park to go see baseball games. I love this place. The pool was open. The Jacuzzi was good too. My room was spot on. I couldn’t be happier. I will be back.
- 1/5
I didn't not take any photos as I should of.. I was to pissed off and couldnt wait to check out the next day!!
- 2/5
There was an EXTENSIVE remodel being done. It seemed that at least half the hotel was under remodeling. The carpets was taken out from the room I was in and it left about .5 inch of space at the bottom of the door. All I could think about was bugs getting in and the light that came in. If you are a person who desires a dark room, this isn't the place. The rooms were very, very basic; two lamps, a bed, a hardback chair, a desk, a bureau and TV. No comfy chair, no small sofa. Nothing that sharpened the utilitarian feel of the room. I understand that it was inexpensive but the room was not welcoming and there were signs all along the back end of the hotel that stated that they were not responsible for damage or theft - almost every six feet, a sign. Parking, at your own risk, was free.
- 5/5
great place
- 3/5
Room was clean but a lot of construction
- 3/5
Looked like they were under renovation while we were there. Only complaint would be shampoo, conditioner, and body soap bottles were completely empty.
- 1/5
Gross
- 4/5
Location location location The property itself had a lot of construction going on, and also it was as clean as it should’ve been there with some hair in the bathroom on the floor and in the tub
- 3/5
We were on the Hwy 5 side of the building with lots of traffic noise. They were in process of updating the rooms. Ours had not been updated yet but still satisfactory. It was nice that it was walking distance to the Old Town shopping district. Continental breakfast only, just pastries, juice, and coffee.
- 4/5
Convenient location to train station. Clean and comfortable with everything I needed for my stay. Safe & secure. The pool looked inviting. If it were summer and I had the time, I would have gone swimming. It was a little noisy. Not a super big deal, but I could hear quite a bit of traffic noise from outside, as well as occasionally from other guests.
- 2/5
Toilet was unable to flush, so I opened and manually pulled string to flush toilet. I got bite by some bugs. 1/2 of place is remodeling now and I hope next time is better.
- 5/5
The place was good for a one night. Old town, and the K St. area with the food and shops was walkable.
- 3/5
Location is great They had a remodel going on an this was not disclosed
- 5/5
Being renovated , great location
- 3/5
- 4/5
Excellent location- an easy walk to restaurants and shopping in old town Sacramento - plus we could walk to Amtrak. Staff was excellent- friendly and helpful. It’s a little noisy for sleeping being so close to a highway and train station but I’d definitely stay here again!
- 4.5/5
Close to train station It’s served it’s purpose.
- 1/5
Rooms were small and a lot of rift fart people around hotel
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful and honest. It is under current renovation. Breakfast was terrible. The location was perfect!
- 2/5
Very bad overall
- 1/5
Nice room but they didnt offer the placard to clean the room. Plus they
- 4/5
An okay place, but many of the rooms were under construction.
- 5/5
Parking was good. Didn't use the hot tub.
- 0.5/5
Location downtown close to river trail running paths & our friends home in Sacramento. Blood soaked towel in the room upon our arrival. Utterly disgusting!!! Had to pack up & switch rooms. New room smelled like smoke. Hotel was under construction, not told ahead of time. Fitness room was part of the construction and we choose this location because it had a fitness room! Again, no notice of parts of the hotel under construction/remodel. Breakfast spread was virtually nonexistent & no coffee was made! Manage was of no help as he was unaware that there was not a fitness room & no coffee! Homeless wandering the parking lot & the constant smell of weed!
- 4/5
Stayed here to see a ball game. Stadium was only a short walk away, and a very nice walk too. Right through old town. The place was in the middle of a remodel and there was some moments of extreme noise but for the most part they kept the presence of construction to a minimum. The hot tub nice. The pool was a little too cold for my liking. The breakfast bar only consisted of muffins, bagels, croissants, coffee and tea. The staff was super friendly and for that I would gladly return.
- 5/5
Great great pool area. Very clean, really nice lounge chairs. A couple tables/chairs. Very nice. There was a hot tub. Our room was very nice. Had been renovated. Super lighting in sink n bath area. Best big tv, lots of good channels. Great bed/linens. Towels were pretty small n thin. All three products in shower. None by the sink. The real Bonus-it has a small hand held clothing steamer!!! I would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
pretty clean room except the floors were dirty. I’d recommend brining extra socks/slippers to wear around. Stayed here twice so far for two different events in downtown and was very a convenient walk. Good amount of parking. We stayed in March 2026 and half of the rooms seem to be under renovation (inside rooms facing pool). Overall nice stay for the price and staff were kind and accommodating.
- 4/5
They were renovating some rooms and an unannounced turning off of the water surprised us. It was off for six hours. They provided bottled water after our request. Room could use a coat of paint. Great location, very close to Golden 1 Arena.
- 3/5
Wasnt in the best area of town.Close to bb stadium and old town. On site restaurant was closed. Hotel had no water for three days during the day which wasn't great. Price was good.
- 2.5/5
They refunded my pet deposit! No microwave, dirty floors.
- 5/5
Conveniently located, clean, and the staff were nice. The Parking feels safe.
- 1/5
Parking was scarce and the satellite tv didn’t work
- 3/5
Rooms are okay. Tv service wasn’t working
- 1/5
The hotel is under construction. They put a single woman in a wing where I felt unsafe the room was ok, but big cracks on the bottom of the door, I thought a big might slip in from the outside. Then @7am the next day the gardeners & their blowers were there to wake everyone up, even the dead!☠️
- 4.5/5
Location
- 3/5
Bathroom worked but drained super slow. Cable didn't work.
- 4/5
Pool was great! The room was clean but the door didn’t have the typical latch? It actually had half of the latch but what are you going to do with that? It didn’t feel like a super safe space but it’s super close to Downtown Sacramento. Good place to sleep, dont know about staying multiple days. Also half the rooms were closed and there was an asbestos warning for one of the floors….
- 1/5
Was given 3rd floor, NO working elevator, so got 1st floor. Room had layer of dirt over the entire floor, bathroom floor door frame 1/2 “ solid dirt, dirty sheets, chair so low to floor, no cups, sugar etc for coffee pods, no water, continental breakfast was little muffins & coffee. Overall it was dumpy plus staff doesn’t great you or smile.👎
- 1/5
would not stay there again
- 2/5
Stayed on a Wednesday (3/18) You get what you pay for. But this one is well below. First off, TV did not work, with kids this is a terrible situation. Then the main room light did not work. This is cheap appliance that could have been swapped. There was a weird bug in the bathroom ceiling. Time to call pest control. The bathroom did not even have a toilet paper holder. When calling the front desk, Sahid said that "no TV's were working" due to the network. BS. I asked at least other 4 guests and their TV's were working. When confronting Sahid the next morning about that lie, Sahid said that "they were sold out" so he could have not swapped our room. When I asked Sahid to talk to their manager, Sahid said he was not available. Another lie. Besides the hotel lack of working items, Sahid stares at his phone and barely looks at the customer in front of him. Gen Z issue maybe? Who knows...But Sahid definitely needs re training.
- 3/5
Property is city center and easy to get to. But there was some pretty major construction that we were not able to the room we requested that was accessible for my husband that was in a wheelchair. The room was clean and freshly painted and remodeled, but had a bad musky/smokey smell.
- 3/5
Everyone was great 😃
- 2/5
You really can’t beat the price when it comes to how close this is to downtown and the Golden 1 Center. However, be aware that cleanliness is not a priority here. I would not stay longer than one night. A place to just get ready and refresh but definitely not to just chill.
- 3/5
Th tv didn’t work. And the ac didn’t work. I was disappointed because I enjoyed staying here before. Prob won’t be back.
- 1/5
The hot tub was full of bugs
- 5/5
Nice room, simple and comfortable. Slept well. AC kept room cool. Very pleasant and helpful staff!
- 3/5
Good location for airport and old town. Good dining options in area.No breakfast. No number on room card. Broken curtain.
- 3/5
The bathtub was clogged and so it filled up when we showered and the water didn't want to go down. The bed was really hard and uncomfortable
- 3/5
The other guests were loud and they door do not seal properly so it sounded like they were in the room talking.
- 4/5
Clean room and staff
- 2/5
There were no washcloths, and when I noticed I immediately called to the front desk, and was told access to the supplies ends at 7pm. Had to use a bigger towel instead which was difficult. Hotel soaps had not been refilled, luckily I travel with my own. Before making the reservation I called to ask about any additional requirements in bringing my emotional support animal. I was told it would be a REFUNDABLE additional 30.00 deposit. Upon check in, it was 35.00 and I was informed it was not refundable with the deposit. I do not recommend staying here unless it's an emergency, and definitely bring your own cleaning supplies and washcloths!
- 2/5
We were put on the third floor without being told the elevator was out of order, the tv did not work and there was not a replacement room, the shower had zero water pressure and came out like a water hose, and there were wash towels provided. Its was good for what it was, conveniently located to the golden one center.
- 1/5
Broken lock in my room, terrible staff. 0/10 will never go back
- 2/5
The hotel looked like it was going through a transition. The door had a big gap at the bottom which blew in a lot of dust and debris. It just didn't feel like it was a full service hotel
- 3/5
Staff was ok. Maybe next time say the closest parking space to the room. The shower curtains don’t work, water goes through. Luckily the bathroom fan was strong enough to dry the water. Also wish the curtains covered to the wall so light doesn’t peak through, same with the bottom of the door. Nightstands were a little dirty same with the bathroom counters.
- 5/5
Great price, great location, great service thank you!!!
- 2/5
The room smelled of smoke and paint.
- 4/5
Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Be warned it is a little noisy since its right off the interstate, however with old sacramento and amenities a plenty within walking distances, well worth an overnight stay or two.
- 3/5
Room was good and staff was good. There wasn’t any coffee in the room, only the coffee maker.
- 4/5
It was well maintained and easy thank you
- 2/5
The bed was comfortable. The issues were that the cable didn’t work at all, and the front desk person told me none of the rooms’ cable worked either. There was a gap under the door so all the cold air kept coming in. We got extra towels to cover it up. We had to run the heater all night to keep up with the cold. So, that’s probably a hotel fix that they could do so that they aren’t paying loads in heating electricity!
- 5/5
My room was clean, I had a pleasant and restful night
- 1/5
While I was in the shower, my boyfriend noticed that someone was trying to get into the room, wiggling the handle and trying to see past the curtain. We ended up leaving this hotel for another one near by, we felt so unsafe.
- 1/5
The TV did not work in the room and the blow dryer as well did not work in the room
- 3/5
The bed was comfy, I like the hot tub, easy parking, walkable to tons of restaurants and old town sac, quiet. BUT the tv didn’t work, and I wonder if it ever did/will. The “complimentary breakfast” was a few bagels and muffins and coffee and nothing else. The WiFi connection was horrible and kept kicking us out unexpectedly.
- 1/5
Sent a message to Vagabond on day of booking saying that I needed a late check in not knowing that the front desk was not manned after 10pm. Never heard back from them saying there was an issue. They need to state their limited check in policies up front.
- 1/5
No tv that workedx rude front service staff, dirty toilet, no bath drain plug. I will be getting a refund
- 3/5
Noise level was terrible, the second night of our stay, loud and rude language it, Sounded like a fight broke out.. to nervous to look outside.. very surprised security didn't shut it down oh it was after 2 am when this was all happening. I've stayed here a few times, great location, hope it was just a one time deal.
- 5/5
Great place to stay, no complaints!
- 4/5
Close to everything
- 4/5
Staff was very helpful
- 2/5
Walls in the vanity area appear to have dried blood drops. Rooms very warm. Lobby smells like smoke
- 4/5
Good
- 4/5
Room was clean and nice. Staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast wasn't very good and it wouldn't take much to improve it, like a bowl of fresh fruit and butter for the English muffins for the absolute basics. And a little more to make it really good for more people: hard boiled eggs, yogurt, orange juice, cold cereal and milk.
- 1/5
Room sucked it was freezing cold at night couldn’t even sleep plus there was a on inch gap at the bottom of door witch was the reason it was so cold don’t recommend this hotel.
- 1/5
Room smelled like smoke
- 5/5
Great location to downtown, good value. Enjoyed the pool and spa
- 5/5
very comfortable bed
- 3/5
No elevators, no plug for the bathtub, ONE staff person for 5 people trying to check in.
- 4/5
Room was clean, hot tub enjoyable, check in and out no issues
- 2/5
The pricing was very reasonable; however, upon arrival, the front desk staff member was unpleasant and smelled strongly of cigarettes. The room itself was clean, but the front door lacked proper weather stripping, allowing cold air to come in as if the door were open to the outside. I ordered room service and selected an item that appeared appealing, only to receive a call informing me that one of the items was unavailable. An alternative was offered, but it was something I could not eat. I was told a refund would be issued, but it was never credited, even after I followed up by phone. If you are looking for a cheap, one night stay, this hotel may be an option.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly, room was clean and quiet. Only negative thing to mention was breakfast. Other drink options like juice would have been nice.
- 4/5
Room was ok. A bit dated. Huge gap under front door let cold air in. Great location. Loud with freeway noise and night trains. Good for the price.
- 4/5
The room was clean and the staff were nice.
- 5/5
The tv didnt work at all the whole time we were there.
- 5/5
The room was spotless, I Arrived in Sacramento on 1/17/2026 around 1 am and we checked in at Quality Inn and it was the worse experience ever, we immediately checked out and went to vagabond Inn and the guy that worked in the front was AWESOME, I mean he took AWESOME to a whole new level because we checked in right away and did not have to wait till 3pm, I didn't get his name but he had great customer service and showed compassion. I recommend this place anytime the people their are great and always smilitng.
- 4/5
everything was ok, downfall is rooms have a window above door and it’s bright, also a gap under door allows the breeze from outside in. other than that no issues.
- 1/5
The parking was well lit and safe feeling. Night staff was nice. Day desk staff did not communicate needs to housekeeping. The door of the room had an inch gap to outside, where I could smell the trash pickup. Many of the rooms were vacant and not cleaned up. Elevator was “broken” so I had a three flight walk up. With the dirty vacant rooms it felt apocalyptic.

- 4/5
Check in was easy and nice staff.
- 5/5
Fast check in. Room was clean. Pet friendly.
- 5/5
Nice clean
- 5/5
- 5/5
Parking was very smooth an easy
- 5/5
I appreciated being able to check in early and was very pleased with the room.
- 5/5
Nice room and very nice shower. Front desk clerk very courteous
- 1/5
I rented two rooms, one for myself and one for my son and his wife. My room was acceptably clean, though the furniture was rather battered. My son's room was disgusting -- the sheets had not been changed and were dirty. The room reeked of cigarette smoke, and that was bad enough, but the dirty sheets (which were not discovered until quite late at night) were beyond horrible.
- 5/5
Room was clean and exactly like the picture featured. Also the area was very quiet.
- 4/5
Fresh bake cookies was a nice touch
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Room was spotless, and the staff was very courteous!
- 3/5
The toliet was dirty with urine around the bowl area. The door would let alot of cold air in.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff
- 4/5
Good Wi- Fi and clean rooms
- 5/5
Room was clean and fresh. There was some breakfast offered: croissants, muffins, bagels, and coffee. The front desk had plenty of snacks and drinks for purchase. The microwave in the dinning area was shared for the hotel.
- 2/5
The “duvet cover” was scratchy and covered in random long black hair. Made me gag.
- 3/5
Amenities
- 3/5
Definitely a budget hotel with several nuisances: a beeping smoke alarm that couldn’t be silenced, an A/C water leak,
- 3/5
The room was ok for the price. But at breakfast they ran out of creamer for my coffee. But you get what you pay for.
- 5/5
clean
- 4/5
Clean and comfortable
- 5/5
Plenty of parking. Staff was helpful and nice.
- 5/5
Clean room, Staff very nice, Food in morning good. Rooms facing Freeway are slightly noisy but okay. Price was excellent. Close to everything did not drive anywhere. Close to public transportation but did not use. We walk everywhere, close to Capital too.
- 5/5
Great location and parking is great
- 5/5
the room was spotless.
- 4/5
Very quick checkin and nicely adorned room w good amenities (minus microwave but one in breakfast area may be usable).
- 4/5
Good basic accommodations with great rooms, quiet, walk to DOCO, old town, capitol area, and midtown, lots to do near property. Safe, quiet location. Room was great with desk and fridge. Common areas could use a refresh, hot tub was in working order.
- 3/5
At the continental breakfast this morning which included only muffins, bagels, coffee and tea. There were no muffins or regular coffee and no cream only decaf coffee. The rooms were nice and very clean. The staff was very nice. I won’t book with Expedia again because we lost our $30 refund and had no tv for our 3 night stay.
- 2/5
It was an okay experience. The shower felt dirty and uncomfortable to use. The bed was very hard. The noise was nonstop throughout the night.
- 5/5
The staff are very helpful. Location great.
- 3/5
yes
- 3/5
front desk very helpful thanks
- 2/5
I was very disappointed with the room; there was no microwave, and the fridge didn't work. I expected those minor amenities, since the property boasts about having newly renovated rooms with kitchenettes. The continental breakfast was poor; there was coffee and a couple of muffins. The elevator was out of service, and there was a lot of water in the hallways. The key cards were a piece of cardboard, and the first one I was issued did not work. For some reason, they had run a garden hose into one of the rooms, and it was a slip hazard when I was carrying all my luggage back to my vehicle.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Nice place to stay.
- 1/5
Terrible road noise, poor noise insulation. Left early
- 2/5
Loud heater. Room smelled of marijuana.
- 4/5
The true standout, though, was the genuinely accessible bathroom. In a world where “accessible” is too often just a label, The Vagabond delivered the real thing. My wife uses a wheelchair, and this room had everything she needed — sturdy grab bars, a lower sink, and a spacious roll-in shower. Big kudos to the team for getting accessibility right. 🌟
- 4/5
Very clean room.
- 3/5
This was a disappointing stay compared to previous visits. I was assigned a room facing the pool, which meant traffic/garbage truck noise woke me early in the AM. Pedestrian access was limited due to apparent deterioration of sidewalks or parking lot on s (? Or maybe north, away from pool) side of property. The hotel is still a fairly easy walk from Old Sac sights, shops and restaurants, and I did enjoy that aspect of my two night stay.
- 2/5
Very bare bones, lots of freeway noise, and the rooms aren’t well insulated from cold out noise. Bathtub didn’t appear clean enough for me to risk a bath. The heater wasn’t working in my room so I had to call & change to a new room. I wont stay here again.
- 4/5
The Breakfast was basically Coffee and Bread.
- 3/5
Was walking distance to old Sacramento. Which made it very convenient. You could hear all the noise at night. We got in very late and it was hard to sleep hearing all the traffic. Check in progress was alittle hard and took an hour but we were patient.
- 5/5
The vibe was definitely different than the other places I've stayed in. I mean that in a good way. The desk guy seemed pretty laid back. The room is great. It's clean and everything you'd expect from a hotel. God forbid I have to climb up a few stairs. The neighborhood seemed safe enough. I had a nice view.
- 5/5
Yes, the gentleman who checked us in was wonderful rooms would clean everything's good
- 5/5
The facilities and room were clean and well maintained. I felt safe and secure. No transients or loiterers on premises. Pool and hot tub looked nice and well kept but we did not use. Very close to downtown Sacramento and easy walking distance to restaurants, bars and the golden one center. Right off the highway. Easy to get in and out of sac.
- 3/5
The pictures and description of this place show and mention a full breakfast. They don't have a full breakfast. They have stale bagels muffins and bad coffee. The room was alright. I've stayed in worse places but it is not worth what they're charging
- 4/5
Great location in downtown Sacramento. Friendly staff.
- 3/5
Good location if u are on the way
- 4/5
It was alright
- 5/5
Nice staff and clean room. Coffee at the lobby 24 hours.
- 5/5
I gave it 4 stars due to the room smelling like cigarettes at first. Overall the tidiness was good.
- 5/5
Five minutes from the Train station and 900 feet from my conference hotel (it was $600+/night). Parking, if I had taken my car, was ample and freeway access right there. The staff was attentive and the grounds secure.
- 4/5
Parking was secured
- 2/5
Customer service - great, had a small issue with the key card activation and the gentleman was very accommodating Safety - I like how they have the entrance to the rooms requiring a room card to be scanned in order to get in Room size - it was a spacious room, I like the steamer they have to get the wrinkles out and the mirror was nice. The bed was very comfortable, I had adequate linens and nice fluffy pillows Now for the bad. Location - Right off the freeway, if you’re a light sleeper do not stay here. I was woken up so many times from all the semi trucks on the freeway and can hear them rumble, motorcycles, cars with bass and loud exhaust (I stayed on a Tuesday). Didn’t pack my earplugs Cleanliness - first glance it’s clean.I started to notice little things. It looked as though someone dropped brown liquid and it splashed up on the wall down by the base of the bed. Appliances don’t seem to get swept behind. Problems - the batteries on the remote died, tv would turn on but just snow. The bathtub did not drain when taking a shower. Could only shower for two minutes before needing to get out (grosses me out thinking whatever leftover pipe water comes up when it doesn’t drain). The A/C worked but it looked like it was falling apart on the plastic shell. I stayed because I had a meeting the following morning. I was unable to shower, and was unable to sleep. They should offer earplugs. Some individually wrapped ones
- 5/5
Great price. Clean room.
- 4/5
I was pleasantly surprised. My room was very clean and it was obvious that they have invested in upgrading and modernizing the rooms. Very pleasant stay, great staff and very accommodating.
- 2/5
Outdated, poor amenities
- 5/5
Fast checking and everything went great thank you!!
- 1/5
Smelliest room EVER. When I requested a different room I was told no, and it was obvious they had rooms available.
- 4/5
for the price we paid. It was not a bad stay. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. Could use some more lightning. It’s a little dark but pleasant overall.
- 1/5
No security and no sense of feeling safe here! Some random wingnut guy got into complex Wed night and was in a mental state banging on our doors and the glass lots to let him in! I called down to front desk but just spineless. Auper non helpful. I had to call 911 twice before police finally showed an hr after my initial call! Floors so dirty and took pics as proof on me wiping floors. Just the most useless motel ever so I took the loss for Thursday and went to HI!
- 4/5
Nothing fancy but felt clean and safe and was close to old town/downtown/midtown.
- 5/5
The staff was great! Room was nice, very clean and comfortable. Just wish they had breakfast items, but it worked out great. Great coffee shop around corner.
- 5/5
Clean room. Staff was great. Will stay here again.
- 4/5
Clean and close by to old Sacramento, we walked around and enjoyed ourselves all night. Only reason why we didn’t put 5 stars is cause the walls are very thin so you can hear everyone and everything but turning the air on helped block out the noises of the night!
- 3/5
Clean room, updated, however smelled like cigarettes despite being non smoking. It's a good one night stay for sure.
- 5/5
Great location
- 2/5
This property everything is fine! But the outside is very noise. I can’t sleep overnight time.
- 4/5
Nothing fancy, room was clean and comfortable, staff was friendly, and it was close to Golden 1.
- 4/5
Noisy
- 2/5
The room we were given had a backed up sink with throw up in it. Then the 2nd room we were given had a gap all around the door so you can hear every single noise from outside.
- 4/5
It was clean - convenient location, no issues
- 2/5
Remote for TV didn't work properly. Brought issue to front desk attendant. Said someone would check. Came back and nothing had been done. Attendant accompanied me to room, swapped our batteries. Still no response. Claimed that you had to turn on and off several times. Returned to room second night. Water dripping from roof of bathroom in several places. Floor was soaked. Front desk said the hotel was full and there was no one to address issue. Said that a note was left and a discount would be provided. Upon checkout, attendant said that the room had been paid for thru Expedia and an adjustment couldn't be made, but an adjustment could be made upon a future visit. Last stayed there 20 years ago. I won't return.
- 5/5
All around nice place nice area
- 5/5
Clean rooms and friendly staff. Convenient and (actually quiet) location just across the street from old sac.although we frequently enjoy the more expensive upscaled 4 star hotels yet for the purpose of our stay, this is a great price…perfect for a no frills place to comfortably crash when you’re spending most of your time out enjoying the city.
- 5/5
Rooms are always clean and staff goes above and beyond!!
- 5/5
Glad to be your guests
- 2/5
Well, it was a bed for the night.
- 4/5
Easy parking. Quick check in. Clean room. Noisy atmosphere though.
- 5/5
👍
- 4/5
Staffs were nice to assist me.
- 5/5
Quick, friendly efficient staff. Clean spacious rooms
- 5/5
We rented the King size bed. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable furniture. The bathroom was very nice, good lighting and the water pressure was great. The parking lot was also very clean and the area around them was free from any homeless debris.
- 5/5
location
- 4/5
Rooms recently redone and rates among the lowest near the Capitol. No complaints except for two issues: noise and breakfast. Traffic from the freeway is loud but I was able to block it with the A/C. The hotel advertises breakfast but all they offer is bagels and coffee, nothing else. Still, for the price, it's a good value. I would stay again.
- 4/5
It was a good stay over all would come back for sure.
- 2/5
Once I finally got upstairs, I found a bunch of hair on both beds. Called front desk, again there was nothing they could do about it. Horrible. I couldn't sleep and ended up leaving at 2 am.
- 4/5
I needed a hotel close to Capital Mall and this hotel was located in a perfect location. I was suspect of the age, style and location (across from train station). I was completely impressed. The hotel is completely fenced with a single entrance which provides security, I had no issues with outside influences. The property is older but it has been updated and it was very clean. The bed was comfortable, shower worked great and coffee maker in room. The staff is super friendly. The parking is great, directly in front of my room. No breakfast other than hot coffee and a packaged danish. Yes, there is street noise but it dies down in the evening and I had no issue while sleeping. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel.
- 2/5
Very basic room that I paid nearly $150 for. Traffic is super loud, right there off the 5 at J st exit. The remote to the tv didn't work. Furniture scratched up. Polyester blankets that would keep you warm in a snowstorm - but it doesn't snow in Sacramento. I had to sleep under the sheet and turn on the Air.
- 4/5
Parking was convenient to all we were doing. Walkable to old Sacramento restaurants and the golden 1 arena.
- 2/5
I reserved a room with a king bed and got a room with a queen bed
- 5/5
Short walk to Old Town
- 2/5
Two bad rooms…. First room.. shower drain clogged… second room fresh paint and on busy street side so loud…
- 1/5
It's not a place to rest or sleep. The hotel faces main streets, the rooms don't have double-glazed windows, and the main doors don't close completely. With all the noise from the main streets in front of you, it's impossible to sleep.
- 1/5
The place smelt terrible and the staff were not friendly or able to do common things like check outs.
- 4/5
We found random hairs in the bathroom, and only one small trash can for the room.
- 4/5
We stayed for a concert nearby. Parking was easy felt safe and although the hotel was older, it was clean and very convenient for what we needed.
- 1/5
Check in was ok. Walked into the room and into the bathroom and mold was all in the bathtub on the grout! It didn’t look clean at all. Then I looked at the toilet and there was something black son the toilet seat. Luckily I had spray sanitizer and sprayed it down and wiped it. We ended up leaving after our concert and didn’t even stay in the night. The check out person didn’t ask why we were checking out so early or anything. Only good thing was it was a short walk to the venuez
- 4/5
Good value. Great location. Clean. No laundry available onsite or nearby.
- 5/5
We had gotten the hotel because we had a concert and it was just convenient, close by , and good price and good quality inn
- 5/5
Gag is an amazing and friendly guy who made our stay very pleasant.
- 3/5
The tub didn't drain after i showered. There is a free breakfast but i wasn't told about it.
- 5/5
Fairly clean, bed was comfortable and clean. Parking was good!
- 5/5
EZ. Parking. Clean. Excellent staff.
- 4/5
Very friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
I liked the fact that its only 10 minutes walk access the beautiful old sacramento city. The hotel is clean and I enjoyed my stay here
- 3/5
Meaning maids hair was found on bedding & stuck to bathroom areas. I changed rooms because my first was totally not clean including bathroom floor and sink. Second room was a little better but still , the cleaning staff needs help. Front desk was polite, helpful and efficient. Walking distance to museums, outdoor mall + arena and Old Sacramento.
- 3/5
Room was clean and suitable for a night passing through Sacramento.
- 3/5
I was prepared to give more stars because the room was super clean and comfortable, but I immediately noticed there was a privacy issue. There is a transom above the door where the line-of-sight is from the bathroom area to the hotel across the street. Also, the curtains have a huge gap in them and anyone standing outside the room can look in and see the reflection in the mirror to the bathroom area. With the lights on at night, the room is not private at all. And although there is next to no noise from the other rooms next door and above (which is amazing) there was a lot of noise from outside; traffic noise from the freeway never stopped and construction noise from the building next door was very loud and lasted all day from day two of my week-long stay. I also didn't like that there is no microwave and not enough outlets. But it is better than some hotels and I think it would be worth more stars if it were in a better location.
- 5/5
The hotel is a poor choice if hoping for a good night's sleep. I was woken up several times throughout the night by loud vehicles and motorcycles. Otherwise, nice hotel.
- 5/5
close to Amtrak train station
- 5/5
Clean room, parking
- 1/5
It’s was horrible experience. Our ceiling was leaking water on our bed, The hotel was not taken care off, it was dirty, They offered us another room and it was worse!!! I feel like I got completely scammed, I don’t think I will use your site ever again.
- 4/5
Place is close to old Sac, a couple blocks away. A little noisy since it’s by the freeway. My door to my room was broken at the bottom and my bathtub wouldn’t drain but they were able to fix it promptly. Pretty decent place
- 5/5
Really enjoyed the service from the staff and how the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station. Definitely staying here again. Thank you
- 3/5
The bed was lively. The bathroom was gross. I don't think the bathtub has been cleaned in a long time. There were hairs everywhere. They definitely were not mine; I have short red hair these were long and black.
- 5/5
Easy check in, plenty of parking, walking distance to Old Sacramento area!
- 5/5
Courteous and helpful at the check in
- 4/5
Clean and comfortable. Easy walking distance to Golden 1 Center
- 3/5
There was dirty wash clothes hung on the shower curtain rod between the curtain and wall with stains on it. Very disgusting.
- 4/5
Clean room good staff, exterior looks kind of sketch though. Extremely close to Amtrak and very convenient. Overall a lovely experience if you look past the outside
- 4/5
they let us check in very early which was really helpful
- 5/5
Great place to stay in old sac
- 5/5
Checking in was fast and efficient. This hotel was a perfect location to attend an event at Golden1 arena
- 4/5
Convenient to access old town and freeway.
- 2/5
Shops near by but room too expensive & plain. No microwave in room. The free breakfast was very limited with no juice or fruit. I would never stay there again!
- 1/5
The hotel wasn’t bad. The only problem was the elevators were not working and they put me on the second floor and going up the stairs. I hurt my knee. I spent half the night in the bathtub, trying to calm it down. The worst part was there’s still a sign that says elevator
- 2/5
Everything was average and what you expect what you pay for BESIDES the cleanliness. The only thing that looked was clean before I checked in were the beds. The floor was disgusting as well as the toilet and table/counter tops of the table in the room as well as the sink area.
- 5/5
Very nice place to spend a night here. The check in procedure was easy and super nice service at the front desk. Not to forget there are delicious chocolate cookies for the guests to take. Coffee and tea available 24/7
- 5/5
Front desk guy was excellent, very accommodating to our requests. Loved the location- so close to Old Sacramento.
- 5/5
Upon arrival to check in we were greeted by a very friendly staff. Complimentary water, soda and cookies were offered to us which we gladly accepted. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. This hotel is in a great location. It is close to Old Sacramento and Sutter Health Park. We were able to walk from the hotel to Old Sacramento for dining. We also walked back to the hotel after the game at Sutter Health Park. Will definitely book this hotel again on our next trip to that area.
- 5/5
Can be kind of noisy but for the money its hard to beat the location. Would stay again.
- 2/5
1. The key did not work. 2. Bedding not clean. Wrinkle pattern and hair indicated sheets were not changed. 3. Bathtub not clean - hair in tub indicates the tub was not cleaned. 4. Room for 2 only had 1 chair for the table. 5. Room for 2 only provided 2 bath towels. No washcloths or hand towels. 6. Noise level was high even for rooms not facing the freeway.
- 4/5
Great location. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Clerk was very polite and helpful when I checked in.
- 1/5
The TV wasn’t working and they couldn’t get anyone to fix it until the morning we checked our. There was a blood stain on one of the pillows and it was extremely noisy all night.
- 5/5
good
- 3/5
Well, I wouldn't characterize the staff as rude, they were not particularly friendly or engaging either. Furthermore, the elevator was broken and there was no apology or sense of urgency in getting it repaired.
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
Convenient clean
- 4/5
Very conveniently located to Old Town. Clean rooms.
- 5/5
Safe
- 3/5
Decent for the price, a/c no fockin bueno.
- 3/5
location is good close to everything
- 4/5
All in all, good value.
- 3/5
When I checked in, the first room looked like it was still occupied and I had to request another room. I never had my room cleaned during my stay there, but the cleaning staff was there this morning when I checked out…
- 5/5
great stay
- 5/5
Stayed here for 2 nights. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly! I would stay here again just because their customer service was so great. We were in town for a concert at golden 1. Super convenient location within comfortable walking distance. Also within short walking distance of old town. It is by no means the most luxurious, but it is clean, convenient with great service, in what feel like a safe location.
- 3/5
Smell of smoke
- 5/5
Best value for a clean safe hotel near to Old Town Sacramento.
- 1/5
THIS HOTEL DID NOT MEET ANY OF MY STANDARDS., I BOOKED THE HOTEL FOR TWO REASONS - A POOL AND A HOT TUB AND BREAKFAST, WE CHECKED IN ON TIME, AND WENT SHOPPING AND ATE LUNCH/DINNER AND WENT BACK TO THE HOTEL TO RELAX IN THE HOT TUB AND POOL. WE WENT TO THE LOBBY TO GET POOL TOWELS AND WERE TOLD THAT THE HEATER BOTH BOTH WERE BROKEN, AND THEREFORE, WE NOT WORKING. I HAVE VERY BAD ARTHRITIS AND NEEDED THE TUB FOR MYSELF. NOPE, TOWELS ON THE LOBBY COUNTER, WHO KNOWS WHY, BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT WORKING. AT 915A WE WENT TO GET BREAKFAST AND WERE TOLD THAT BREAKFAST WAS ONLY OPEN 7A TO 9A, AND OF COURSE, THE CHECK IN MAN SHOULD HAVE TOLD US THAT EVENING. NO SIR, HE DID NOT. THEN BREAKFAST THE NEXT DAY, THEY ONLY HAD PASTRIES AND COFFEE, THAT IS IT!!! I WOULD LIKE A REFUND AND I WAS TOTALLY LIED TO.

Nice hotel. Pleasant staff. Cl9se to ball park
- 4/5
Convenient location, free parking, clean, cheap and functional. Noisy raised freeway nearby.
- 1/5
I had purchased a train ticket for my wife as she was visiting her dad that is not doing to well. She got to Sacramento from fresno headed home to us in seattle wa. Well she ended up missing her train. So i purchased a hotel room at around 12:45am. The calamder doesnt allow you to pick the day before if its past midnight. The employee at c the hotel didnt speak very well english. So it was hard to talk to him. He could understand but played us for a fool. He did allow my wife to get the room for the night. My wife had to tryn and occupie her self at the other hotel lobbies. I called to talk to the employee and then he just started hanging up on me. Also had a customer associate from expedia try and talk to him. He aslso kept hanging up on them. They said they would get me a refund plus extra insensitives . So that would be great if you guys could get me that refund. Thank you.
- 1/5
It did live up to its Vagabond name. Felt very dirty. Area was sketchy. Felt like a crime scene waiting to happen, but the noise was awful. Really needs upgrades
- 5/5
I was in town for an A’s game @ & it was an incredible affordable, incredibly convenient option for that visit!
- 5/5
Clean and within walking distance to major attractions.
- 5/5
Nice Staff members
- 4/5
Clean room, attentive friendly staff. The property was very basic, with few amenities. No coffee maker or hair dryer. TV didn’t work. But it was clean and seemed to be recently renovated. The location can’t be beat for walkability to local attractions and transportation. Price was excellent! Staff were just so nice!
- 5/5
some bugs
- 2/5
The surroundings were very loud with music going late in the night and cars constantly going by with little insulation. The room smelled like cigarettes. The restaurant that used to be in the same parking lot was converted to a day care center. So, breakfast options were limited. There are ample places to eat nearby, if only I knew I needed to plan ahead, that would have been fine. I chose this place partially because I thought they had food options on site. I was initially turned away because my driver's license was expired, despite holding a temporary DMV license, and pre-paid for the room. After I was told I couldn't stay there, I complained, and after complaining, the staff called a manager and then asked if I would leave an additional deposit. Of course I would, but it was almost an afterthought... like no, you can't stay here... and after I am stranded out of town you are asking for additional $$$. OK, but really should have been brought up as an option up front instead of making me feel uneasy. They wouldn't print out a receipt for the stay since it was billed through Expedia. Bare minimum customer service.
- 5/5
Nice guy at the desk Parking in front of room 👍 Gave me room on first floor ( I have one problems)
- 1/5
Not good. Got charged by the hotel for a night already pre paid by Expedia. As today the issue is not yet resolved.
- 4/5
Easy parking, close to shopping centers.
- 5/5
Good location, very clean rooms and their pool is perf on a hot day!
- 5/5
The staff was extremely friendly and it was a super nice stay i just wasnt a fan of it being by the freeway other then that it was great!
- 5/5
Excellent location! Would stay again to visit old town!
- 4/5
The good: Good air conditioning, actually comfortable bed for a hotel, really great customer service, strong shower pressure, felt like my vehicle was pretty safe even though it's not gated, pool looked clean (Did not swim). The not so good: A few hairs in towels and on one on the bed (Hard to help but still not sanitary in my book), used acrylic nail on the floor next to the toilet, the drain in the shower drained very slow as if it has hair in the drain, outlets are not on both sides of the bed, very loud environment from both people and cars. I know the not so good seems pretty bad, and there is no excuse, but the bed, customer service, and price, made it not feel so bad. Honestly, we would definitely stay here again. Cleaners need to improve..............
- 5/5
It was good
- 5/5
Very good place to stay
- 5/5
It was great place to stay.
- 2/5
The coffee pot was kissing parts & the A/C unit blow warm air out . It was hot n the high 90’s where we stayed. Very uncomfortable. I do not recommend staying for the price
- 5/5
very comfortable, very friendly
- 4/5
Very clean quiet and down town is very close
- 5/5
Overall, a good deal and great location to ballpark and arena, as well as old SAC and dining. Seems a bit rough around the edges but appears to be efforts toward improvements. Staff was pleasant.
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
They have a swimming pool and spa they just redid the plaster and the siding around it and they keep it very well clean and they have a gym
- 3/5
I prefer a room that is carpeted over the hardwood floors that this property has. Oh well. And the property is a little too close to the freeway...there are no "quiet" rooms. With all due respect, another choice next time in Sacramento.
- 5/5
Great check in, water and cookies!
- 5/5
I booked for a place to shower and change of clothing as I attended a nearby festival, didn’t sleep in room, but everything was as expected
- 2/5
Lots of noise from the freeway and revving engines from the street. There was a visible gap under the door, so noise (and probably bugs) would have an easy time getting in. The floors were sticky in spots, and toilet had visible fecal stains. We won't stay here again.
- 4/5
Had a good stay. Elevator wasn’t in service and stayed on the second floor. Small issue. Room was clean and nice for the price. Pool was great. Very cold and we stayed on a very hot day. Felt awesome. Overall would stay again for the price.
- 4/5
Clean. Simple. Nothing fancy. Close to the Golden 1 Center, less than 10min walk. Everyone was nice.
- 4/5
Location was good, within walking distance to Old Town Sacramento.
- 3/5
The pool was closed. It should be posted on their website that the pool was closed. I would have book a different hotel. The bath tub had hair in it.
- 4/5
A minutes walk to old sac town and access to freeway.
- 4/5
The hotel was great since we arrived by Amtrak so it was easy to get to, but the guy at the desk was not friendly and not helpful. We went down in the morning to see if they had a breakfast and it was almost non-existent. Would stay there again though if we ever travel to Sacramento by train.
- 5/5
Quiet, easy check in, pleasant staff.
- 5/5
Nice hotel
- 5/5
Rooms were newly painted & room was VERY clean. Our only criticism was the bed. It creaked when we got in or out & the mattress was sloped on my side. Small issues. I didn’t see a microwave. Our check in was great. Staff was really nice & gave us ideas for food.
- 5/5
Great staff the room was clean the property was safe.
- 3/5
The service was good. It's right by the freeway, so very noisy.
- 1/5
Not clean and pretty sure some ladies of the night hang out there, which is fine if your into that, my wife I were not.
- 1/5
And couldn’t answer questions Overall he didn’t know anything about the hotel
- 1/5
We were given a room that wasn’t cleaned. Switched us to a room that smelled like cigarettes. Shower didn’t seem cleaned
- 4/5
It was clean and a quick walk to good food
- 5/5
Please add coffee makers to the room otherwise it was affordable and clean!!
- 2/5
The room was dirty. There was candy left in the refrigerator. The floor was terrible no carpet I could not walk on it. I had my granddaughter wear her shoes and I would disinfect her feet. The sink look like it was dirty, but it was just old bathtub didn’t look that great either Noisy next to the freeway but motorcycles all night long and all of Bam dog barking. The second night wasn’t that bad continental breakfast was terrible no Jews just soda and water. They did have coffee and tea bagels muffins swimming pool was closed due to find out that when Covid hit the house the homeless and some type of program so things were not that great oh and the bed was metal wasn’t a wooden frame. It was metal and the mattress was very thin oh, and do not mind that the steamer for your clothes was filthy. It was gross. I took a picture. I was supposed to check out on Sunday and I checked out Saturday evening around 5:30pm. I believe I should get some money back some type of discount or credit or something. They were nice so I guess that kind of sums it up a little.
- 3/5
Close to old town-tourist trap. Broken door, no food. Bed comfortable with good premium channels. No microwave in room & no breakfast
- 4/5
Inexpensive, clean, just what i needed for a quick stop.
- 3/5
Pictures are deceiving,
- 3/5
Property was clean. Staff was very friendly. The rooms, while clean, were pretty old and outdated. Location was convenient and close to many shops and restaurants.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms, great location for walking, restaurants, and entertainment. Nothing fancy, basic amenities, a good value.
- 4/5
Property is remodel. Seems like the pool is still under construction
- 3/5
Staff was veru nice
- 4/5
Great location and walking distance to Old Sacramento and Sacramento River is perfect!
- 5/5
Each time I've stayed at the Vagabond, the staff has been extremely helpful and kind. I would go back just because of the service.
- 3/5
Not sure....but the property feels like it might have new owners and is currently under a rehab. If not, really needs some updating. People were nice, the room was clean and bed was great. Great location to train station.
- 3/5
disabled elevator, no micro wave in the rooms
- 5/5
Really kind and attentive staff! Thank you!! My mom and I really enjoyed our stay while we were here in sac for the special international convention of Jws. The staff were so helpful to us.
