It was a very nice hotel definitely a 5-star hotel.

Lovely place for a memorable staycation. We celebrated an anniversary and ate at Lemaire.

From the front desk staff to the room, unmatched service and a truly luxury experience. The staff in the hallway (room staff) were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and kind. Valet attendants were quick and professional. Overall, superior! Not to mention the most beautiful historical places we have ever stayed!

Love this property and stay every time we are in Richmond. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. The property is on a great location and it’s beautiful. The bar and restaurant and room service are all great too!

My recommendation would be if you have frather/down allergies, request the down free room. I wish I had know to do that. Other than that, great stay. The shuttle was fantastic to Careytown abd we enjoyed the little "museum" on site and the gift shop.(bought the bath sheets, which I recommended!

We loved everything about the Jefferson except for one thing. We would have liked a mat in the shower to keep it from being so slippery. But we were very happy to have a walk in shower. The room and bed were very comfortable. The place is really beautiful and the service and food in the restaurant were wonderful. We would definitely return.

Great hotel and great staff.. our only real negative feedback is that the gym is middling at best if we are being charitable… and realistically disappointing relative to the hotel’s overall high price/high value positioning in the market. you all can do better!! equipment, lay-out etc etc sub-par.

Richmond has always held a special place in my heart as the city I grew up in, and coming back for a visit was a true pleasure. I never had the opportunity to stay at The Jefferson Hotel before, and I’m so glad I finally did. From the moment I arrived, it felt like stepping back into historic Southern history—elegant, timeless, and warm in a way that only Richmond can offer. The ambiance is a perfect blend of classic luxury and genuine hospitality, a living postcard of the South. Overall Experience:** Perfection from start to finish. The hotel exudes refinement without feeling stuffy, and it’s easy to see why The Jefferson is a beloved institution in the city. Food and Breakfast:** The breakfast was superb, with a distinct Southern Virginia touch that felt comforting and refined at the same time. I enjoyed Virginia ham for breakfast, and it truly took me to heaven—rich, savory, and perfectly prepared. The menu felt both fresh and thoughtfully curated. Staff and Service:** The staff were outstanding, delivering Southern charm with professionalism and warmth. Each interaction felt personalized, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Probably the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We were in Richmond for a meetup with a bunch of college buddies and spouses. Totally blown away as soon as we drove up to hotel. And even more impressed after we entered. Staff was wonderful and attentive. Fabulous shower. Highly recommended.

This is one of the most impressive historical hotels we have experienced and this includes the Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC. The history and architecture is unbelievable. The staff, exceptional, along with the services provided during our time at the hotel. The brunch, delectable.

Staff from front desk to concierge, bellmen, TJs bartenders and housekeeping were all wonderful. Property was impressive and meals at Lemaire were excellent. We felt pampered. Love the hotel and staff.

The staff is consistently friendly and helpful. We stay at the Jefferson a couple of times a year. This morning as we were departing the concierge came out from behind her desk to give my wife a big hug. She asked how our grands are doing and gave us a couple of waters for the road.

The rooms were immaculate everything you needed except a microwave. Restaurant in the hotel which is convenient. Parking valet or park yourself. Loved the the experience. The staff were super helpful. Kudos!!!

The King room was massive and well-appointed. The staff - whenever we passed them were attentive and welcoming. Please - treat yourself - stay at Richmond's - The Jefferson Hotel.

Wow! Great attention was given to all the details! We were greeted with complimentary notecards with architectural artwork and custom bottled water when entering our room. Our little one loved being able to view cartoons on the bathroom mirror from the bathtub. The mini history museum, gift shop, and dining options were also delightfully convenient amenities without having to leave the property. Can’t wait to return in the future!

Opened in 1895, The Jefferson is one of those rare hotels that earns its reputation without breaking a sweat — the soaring rotunda, stained glass skylights, and marble columns make an immediate impression, and the warm, unhurried service keeps it from feeling like a museum piece. Rooms are elegant and genuinely comfortable, Lemaire is one of the better restaurants in the city, and the Rotunda Bar is a perfect excuse to linger. It's not a budget stay, but for a special occasion or simply a night of doing Richmond right, there's nothing else quite like it.

2) rooms are all different, but my room was...less than optimal. The bed was was 9 feet from the door which opened directly into the main part of the room When I lay on my side, bright lights from the hallway shone through the cracks between the door and the frame. It was like staring at bright night light. It's always better when the door does not open directly into the main room, which shields the occupant from light and noise. 3) I did not care for the mattress. I am not a fan of memory foam, even it is only a topper. It's very hot to sleep on. Between the light from the door and the uncomfortable mattress, I did not have a good night's rest. 4) The hotel shuttle does not run often enough. We attended an event at the train station, and when we called the hotel for a pickup, they said they could not be there for an hour. We called an uber instead; I think the room was over-priced. I've stayed in nicer hotels for less. The lobby is impressive, but one doesn't sleep in the lobby. I probably would have given the experience 3 stars instead of 2 if the price were more reasonable.

Great experience during Christmas time. The hotel was decorated beautifully. Highly suggest making reservations in advance. The room was amazing, loved the tv in the bathroom. The mattress was not comfortable at all, my husband almost resorted to the floor but ended up turning horizontal across the bottom of the bed and it was slightly better. We will definitely return but maybe with a mattress topper!

Our Queen suite with two Queen beds, a huge bathrooom complete with a luxurious tub, separate huge closet and working area with desk and chair was beyond our expectations. Historic elegance meets modern comforts. You can’t go wrong staying at the Jefferson if you would like to be spoiled and pampered.

Reservations had been fully booked, "for the last six months" and the hotel did not provide guests any other options except purchasing drinks and crackers from the gift shop for lunch and limited seating and a limited menu in the bar for dinner. "A" plus for the hotel; "F" for food service for guests at Christmas time.

I would think at $500 a night the sheets would not be torn. Also the fact that kids were allowed to run up and down the hallway all hours of the night and first thing in the morning is insane. Other than the decorations I feel like I was at a cheap Holiday Inn

The room was good size, the mattress pad and pillows were horrible, it felt like sleeping in a pile of marshmallows, I was not able to get comfortable and fall asleep all night,then this morning at7:45 several hotel staff on loud walkie talkies were in the hallway,the bathroom has no place to hang your towel when you get out of the shower, you have to lay it on the floor, there is a hook on the back of the door, but it’s too far away from the shower, I was very disappointed, the nice lady at the front desk this morning, even agreed that the mattress pads and pillows are not good, for this much money you should have an amazing night of sleep

Everything is spotless and of the highest quality. We felt very pampered. The holiday decorations were beautiful and extensive. Restaurants were very busy, so make reservations for dinner right away. We were able to eat off the restaurant menu in the bar. Food and service were great.

The service was always wonderful, and the staff is quite kind. When my husband pulled out one of the towels, there were a few brown splotches on it, and not all of the amenities in the room worked. Overall, a fine stay and beautifully decorated for the holidays, but a bit of a letdown.

ALL the staff is very friendly and courteous. Love that there are plenty of towels in the room. The shower head is great! The tub is great! Food was really good; at the bar, dinner and breakfast. Bed was very comfortable.

Amazing 5 stars are just not enough

Lovely property. Booked for 3 people and staff only left towels, glasses, coffee pods, slipper, robes for 2. Also older elevator did not go to the main floor but that was not well marked to notify guests, thus we got stuck on a floor with luggage and only a large staircase to access the main level to checkout. The staff was helpful but it was stressful and confusing.

The Jefferson was great. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. It’s a beautiful old hotel but room was updated and well kept. The grounds and lobby are grand and you should stay here just to see them.

Beautiful historic hotel. I wish the fitness center were larger and that there were more shops, coffee, and restaurants nearby but we lived the Jefferson itself.

Our stay was great. I highly recommend the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. They do everything right. The room was lovely, the service was exceptional, and the location was perfect. We will definitely visit again.

The hotel staff, especially Bakar, was awesome. Very helpful and respectful. The amenities were well-maintained, and the serene atmosphere was comforting. We'll certainly be back to stay for much longer!

Enjoyed our stay. Absolutely fell in love with the hotel room's bathroom. There was a tub, stand up shower, and toilet separated by a door. The bathroom mirror also had a built in tv so I got to enjoy bubble baths while watching tv every night! Worth every penny!!

This hotel was built in 1895 and it has been modernized. It has 1895 architecture but also has new technology, such as tapping your room key to open your room door. What blew my wife and I away is that it was like walking into a castle. From the moment we stepped inside, we were treated very nicely. Hotel is huge and we actually got lost finding our way around. But someone was always around to guide us. Hotel is beautiful, room was clean, and the built in tv in the mirror in the bathroom was a nice touch. The shower was beautiful with the nice tiling and the classic tub was separate from the shower. The free water and free coffee was nice, but also when we ordered room service, they rolled in a table with a warmer underneath! Table had a white table cloth and any condiments we needed were on top relevant to the food we had ordered. The delivery hostess, like everyone else, also treated us very nicely. I asked the front desk about the parking slip I had in my hand. He took it and said he would take care of it. When we left, we simply tapped our room key to exit the parking area and parking was free. If I could give this more stars, I would. Any time we come back to this area, this is the hotel ww will always stay at.

The Jefferson belongs on any list of best hotels, nationally or internationally. I've been travelling widely for over 50 years and the Jefferson is the most elegant hotel ive had the pleasure to stay. I cant imagine a more delightful stay anywhere.

The hotel was exceptional and I highly recommend staying here. The room, convenience, service and comfort were all wonderful.

Valet was backed up, no direction given on parking/leaving keys etc. was supposed to get free valet as VIP Expedia member, did not. Massage was phenomenal, but health facilities are in the basement, no sunlight, freezing cold, dated. Room smelled like body odor. We were out on a low floor, our view was a roof and a noisy HVAC unit. The shower drain backed up until you were standing in ankle deep water. At some point the in room mini bar was turned into unrefrigerated soft drinks and assorted snacks, which was disappointing. This was compounded by Lemair being closed for renovations. Made a dinner reservation and was not notified about the renovation and alternative seating and smaller menu in the TJ Millers downstairs. Dinner was decent but the dining room was dirty. The blinds hadn’t been cleaned in years, it looked like. I’ve likely stayed here 10+ times over the last 15 years and it was always mine and my wife’s treat to each other. Looks like we will have to find a new “five star” hotel for spoiling each other.

Really lovely hotel and room. To get into the parking, you check in first and then use your keycard to get into the overnight parking, which was safe and reasonably priced. The lobby is stunning, the location is great, lots of attractive turn-of-the-century buildings and homes in the surrounding blocks. The stars of the service side were defintely the housekeepers as the place was very fresh and clean, with a charming turn down service. Other service members were eager to please but a little "green". I really liked the room and the bathroom, which had a separate bath and shower. Great experience.

What a gorgeous hotel! Rich in history and decorated beautifully. Our room was huge. It’s quiet and the area has excellent restaurants.

Beautiful property is not the best part of town. We never left the hotel. The main restaurant was in renovations so we had to go to the other one. The food was excellent but we sat at our table for 30minutes before we were noticed and it was not that busy. Hotel service and turn down service was fist class

We weren’t sure what to expect; would it be two grand and would it feel pretentious? Not at all! It is a five star hotel and deserves that distinguished rating. Every detail is beautifully thought out. The staff are warm and friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. It is beautifully decorated and meticulously maintained, so we gave it five stars in every category, except for one. On the subject of eco-friendliness, we gave it a four because, after all, extreme luxury really isn’t compatible with environmental sensibility. One detail that surprised us and I suppose disappointed us was that the windows in our “luxury suite” were very dirty. Ideally, they would be sparkling clean. It is a gracious place and we hope to come back when we are in the area again.

Everything was really good, really nice staff, perfect Southern hospitality and the classical beauty of the grand lobby always thrills us. There was only one small thing, the bartender didn’t want to serve us a night cap and it wasn’t 11 o’clock (closing time) when we got to the hotel after a dinner. I did make a comment to the gentleman at the front desk and I expected at least a comment about it when we checked out. It didn’t happen. But in general the stay was excellent

The Jefferson is an absolute icon in Richmond, Virginia, and is always a fantastic place to stay! From check in to check out everything, all your wants and needs, anything at all, is attended to with the utmost professionalism! The courtesy is above and beyond, and the drinks at the bar are served up with quite a heavy Poore! I highly recommend The Jefferson to anyone traveling to Richmond!

Who knew that there is a free shuttle to the Altria Theater? The check in lady knew and sent us to the concierge to set it up. Michael, the driver, was rightly proud of his stately mini-coach and explained how to arrange to meethim most expeditiously after the show.

Of course everything about the hotel and our room was as good as it could be.
