The staff was great and so was the location for what we needed. The facility needs some overall work to the rooms.

It was disappointing to find out the pool was closed during our very hot stay /soccer tournament but other than that , it had everything we needed .

No issues.

The hotel reflects how this hotel is being managed, very poor in all aspects!

Gym being renovated was not told this until check-in.. Tub and sink in room backed up had to get a plunger and unclog the sink and bathtub.. Poor ventilation after taking shower room hot and sweaty AC half worked.. Check in was good. Only one working elevator that took for ever to close or be called.

Staff was friendly, and the outside of the hotel was well-maintained. But the inside and the rooms are all very dated at this point. Everything looks like it's the original TV, furniture, fixtures, etc. The mattresses were very lumpy and lopsided. Was clean enough, but everything just feels old. Again, the staff was good, the breakfast was also just fine.

I didn’t like that all the big trucks were parked in the front leaving the handicap people that park on the side and then to walk all the way around there’s a big parking lot to the right I would think that they would have all their trucks on that side.

The sink was clogged and had to be unstopped, the hairdryer made a horrible noise when in use and started smelling a burn smell but was never replaced, they had not vacuumed the room well and lint and french fry laying in the floor next to the fridge.

All bedsheets were stained down to the mattress. Definitely from bedbugs. Very dirty and outdated. Tried to get another room, none available, tried to find another hotel none available or close by due to huge soccer event in the area. Complained to staff & call expedia and didn’t do much with compensation . Never again

My husband and I had two nights booked and we left after the first night and went somewhere else. The room was just nasty. Right when we walked in the door, there was stuff splattered/stuck on the wall. Every nook, cranny, and crevice was just dirty. Like, they clean the necessities (bed, shower, sink, toilet) and they haven't cleaned anything else in who knows how long. Every piece of furniture was damaged in some form or another. The blackout curtains were riddled with holes. The room overall was in need of a lot of small general repairs (wall cracks and such). Many other reviews mentioned that the hotel is in need of being updated and that's exactly what it needs. The hotel we stayed at the next night - the elevator even smelled cleaner and I felt I could physically relax when I walked in our room. We tried to tell ourselves it was just a bed to sleep in at night, but we just couldn't do it.

This hotel needs a complete remodel. I previously stayed at a holiday in express in Rehoboth Delaware and this location is the total opposite. Bathroom sink drained slowly, white shower curtains had mold, I seen a roach in the room, a bad was left behind the coffee machine, paint chipping, poor touch up paint work, booked a king size bed room recieved. 2 king without notice. Then was told they were out of single king rooms...how can that be if I booked that room. The other room I booked I asked for to see if it can be on the same floor they attempted to give me a room that had 2 queen beds( cheaper room than booked) vs the 2 king bed room that was booked. Upon walking out one night I witnessed another guest complain about a rodent and as I suspected they gave her the run around with no supervisor /manager on site to help. Only 1 of the 2 elevators worked for 3 days. And you have to forcefully push the button and hope it stops on your floor. Overall its not up to holiday inn standards.it operates more like a super 8

Curtains had holes in them, walls in disrepair, very outdated.

Breakfast menu was excellent. Staff was very helpful. Parking was plentiful and well maintained. I would love if their toilets were the taller. I loved that their toiletries were Dove products. I don’t know any other hotel that uses Dove, I usually bring my own.

This location staff is great. Room was clean, beds were clean. I came down for breakfast at like 9:30, Everything seems like it sat for a while, not fresh, and the building is outdated rooms are small.

The hotel was nice and the staff were friendly… It was clean and beds were comfortable… Our only complaints would be our sink in the bathroom drained very slow but we dealt with it… the biggest thing was the ice machine was always empty of ice ( there were soccer teams staying that weekend) only having one ice machine for a hotel that large isn’t a very good idea. We thought there should be an ice machine on each floor…but for sure more than one!!

The room had a weird smell in it, the bed on dirt on the comforter and the TV did not work. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was decent.

The staff is wonderful but this hotel is shabby at best. Chairs in the dining area are absolutely filthy, lobby chairs are pretty good. Hallways smell very musty as did the room. Our room.was not ready when we arrived, which was an hour after check in time. Waiting over an hour for the front desk clerk to.come downstairs, as she was helping get the rooms ready for all of the guests waiting to check in. She was very nice, actually upgraded us to.a suite to make up.for the wait. Overall not impressed with this place but the staff were all really great. Friendly, nice and doung the best they could.

These conditions are completely different from what was described on the Expedia website.

We liked the coffee machine,and the closeness it was to our destination. It seemed like cleanliness was not a priority. The chairs in the breakfast area looked like they had not been cleaned in a few years. The floors were dirty at the opening of breakfast meaning they probably wasn't cleaned the prior shift. The seating area needed new couches there's was completely worn out. You had to download an app to wash clothes if you didn't bring quarters. Our room needed a better cleaning. It wasn't worth 726.00 for 3 nights. The grounds were not maintained. We will not stay there again if we are in that area.

Great breakfast. Great coffee. Room was clean but well worn. Curtains were worn and did not close all the way. Very good A/C. Keurig machine was broken but coffee in lobby was excellent. TV was small but channels were good. Parking was easy and seemed safe. Friendly staff.

It is very dilapidated and rundown, which you can see as soon as you step off the elevators on your floor. Maybe there are some nicer rooms that have been renovated, but that was not the one we had. As soon as you get off the elevator, you can see the nasty carpet, the beaten walls, every single door on the outside is I don’t even know how to describe it! I had to think at the time that it was just old and needed to be remodeled instead of how it actually felt, which was disgusting. They do get two stars instead of one because as far as I know we didn’t leave with any bugs or anything. Based on the way the place looked, I was not eating the breakfast there whatsoever. We have friends that visit the area often, and I wish I would have asked them where to stay. They said they used to stay here all the time, but have had horrific experiences far worse than we did. Point being the place has been like this for quite some time.

I booked with this hotel due to the accommodations listed on Hotels.com which are adjoining/connecting rooms. I arrived to check in, only to be told they did not have adjoining rooms (false advertisement). I took a screenshot showing this particular hotel does provide adjoining/connecting rooms. Next, we (my guest and I) arrive to our rooms only to find a large URINE stain on the edge of one of the beds and a dirty pillow and pillowcase on that same bed. Someone literally slept on that pillow and housekeeping just tossed it to the back of the bed and fluffed it. Also, there was a hair in the bathtub. I spoke with the receptionist on duty that night and showed her the pictures. She quickly accommodated us with a new room. All was well. I didn't inspect my room until later and notice that the toilet was dirty. The disgusting skin cells from someone sitting on the toilet were still there. Meaning the toilet was not cleaned. (I have pictures) Lastly, the blackout curtain has multiple holes in it. It almost looks like someone took it outside and played target practice with it. I've never seen so many holes in a curtain unless it was in the trash. I'm glad I brought Lysol disinfectant aerosol spray with me and wipes since we had to clean our rooms. Overall, never again will I stay at this hotel nor would I recommend it to anyone. Absolutely NASTY!

Location! The room was filthy! There was no housekeeping available and the staff was unprofessional. And as if that’s not enough I have been dealing with Booking.com to get my refund and have been unsuccessful thus far. Now mind you I stayed at the hotel Christmas Eve- December 26, 2025. I have been told by Adam the General manager at Holiday Imm that he has taken care of it. Then he sent a second email irritated because I reached out to him again. He’s rude, unprofessional and has no customer service skills whatsoever. You would think that he would pick up the phone and call me directly.

Basic hotel. Seems to be a frequent place for workers to hang their hats for a night or two. Nothing extravagant but serves the purpose. Room was clean, nice selection of midnight craving snags, hot water and cozy pillows.

The location of the room, 231, was right above the kitchen and, in the morning, the smell of all the cooking was overwhelming especially since I have asthma.

Later in the evening, 11:00pm we called for a late checkout. Took 3 tries for someone to pick up and then realized the handset was broken on the phone. Had to call a 4th time on speaker. Was told they only allow a few late checkouts and they were already taken which was fine. Check out was easy as all we had to do was put the room key in a basket at the front desk.

We were there due to my 94 year old dad having surgery. When the surgery was cancelled, the staff was wonderful about helping us cancel the reservation, pack up our room and load the car. They were all so kind to us, from check-in to check-out.

This place needs renovation: the AC was so loud I couldn't sleep, the bathroom had dark spots and mold, and the room smelled horrible. A bad stay for me, I do not recommend it until a renovation is done.

They use a lot of deodorizer in the room. The outlets were old and charger cords fell out. We had to move rooms due to AC being broke. In the room we moved to, The toilet did not flush well and the lock on door to bathroom was broken. Kids were running and being loud in halls. Breakfast was late opening. With that being said. One thing I can say about the room it was clean and bathrooms as well. The personal at breakfast were very good especially with the children there was no cranberry juice and they got bottles the kids were very happy. To be a Holiday inn it was not a good experience.

This IHG is full of mold. Their was also mold found on the food. Mold on curtains, under sinks, widowsills. Extremely disappointed!

I was very pleased with my recent stay at the holiday inn Express, air conditioning and fridge worked immaculately and it was very quiet and relaxing. The breakfast is also a great bonus. Biscuits & gravy was where it's at.

The rooms are clean. The staff are excellent. The property is pet friendly which is great for my service dog. The air conditioning is always cold. I stay at this property frequently while I get medical care and surgeries for cancer at VCU.

The smoke alarm kept going off in our room and neither one of us smoke here it is I left out and came back and went looking for the person that supposed to be at the front desk there was no one and finally at 6:00 in the morning we finally got someone and she said I've been here all night and I told her no you haven't because we've been looking for you we've been calling the front desk all night because the smoke alarm was going on because the room was nice the room was at the sheets had never been changed and one of the beds

We were sad because the complimentary breakfast started at 7 am and we needed to leave the hotel no later than 6:30 am. Besides that the staff was very friendly, rooms and bathrooms nice and clean.

The staff was very friendly. However, the building was very dated and run down. Sticky floors and footprints all around the elevator, worn furnishings and carpet. Probably the worst holiday inn express I've ever seen.

While the staff was friendly, I can’t recommend staying here. Stained furniture in the lobby. My sink was 90% clogged but was not fixed during my stay. General disrepair. Housekeeping staff not close to thorough. My room AC couldn’t keep the room comfortable.

Clean but a bit run down. The gym was horrible -- very little equipment and most of it broken. Food was predictable-- same as any HIE. Befs were comfortable.

The breakfast buffet was great and the lady running was just outstanding! The beds are very comfortable. The hotel, gym and rooms are clean but very tired. It's time for a big overhaul with new AC, bathrooms and carpeting. Very musty smelling and all of the drains are exceedingly slow. The staff are excellent and again the room are very clean...the hotel is older and needs some updating.

The hotel was easily accesible from highway on our way down to NC. Service was kind. However the rooms were moist and needed better ventilation.

It’s was an ok stay not for long term the toilet kept clogging up just about after every 2 flushes, called the front office to get fresh towels was told they’re servicing the Rooms so just leave towels at the door, left the room at 2pm got back at 10 nothing was done ok no fuss we just needed towels called front desk was told there are no clean towels so now I had to leave my room and go to Walmart to purchase towels so me and my family could take showers. Breakfast was ok asked for hot chocolate for the kids they were out going on 2 weeks nope not again

Check in was terrible booked through a 3rd party called the day before to come in a day early was told they were sold out that if our room was available we could check in early got to the hotel a hr before check in and they refused to check me in until 3 pm because i booled through a 3rd party

The breakfast was very good and the room was comfortable and clean. It’s just an older building that badly needs to be renovated.

The property looks great from the outside but once you walk in it’s a different story. Rooms weren’t clean, very dusty, cob webs, trash under the beds. Several staff members seemed very uninterested in providing assistance - our microwave did not work and the first person we spoke with said she didn’t know if there was anything she could do she’d call us back. For a large hotel, the gym having only 3 pieces of equipment was strange, and one of those was out of order. I would never stay here again, I chose it for the location but next time I’ll just settle for driving a bit farther for a nicer place.

The staff were very courteous and helpful. The grounds needed attention, we were missing a remote, the ac was not working well, and the rooms lack space with the furniture used.

The property was not well kept. My room had a roof leak so I had to be moved to another room.

In that room was unacceptable for anyone to stay in. We booked this hotel months ago based off the photos online which was very deceiving and we only stayed because all the other hotels in the area were sold out. The ground had dog poop in the front of the hotel. Every single door to all the hotel room doors were filthy. The pool of the bottom was also disgusting. Tape was on the walls covering God knows what. Dirt and patch spots all in the bathroom. It’s so much more to say but I will definitely contact corporate because this is so unacceptable and dangerous for individuals who are asthmatic. I also took pictures and videos of this property. The lady at the front desk was absolutely understanding and showed empathy and did everything she could to try and help us. She did say the are do for renovations.

Went to check in and was told they didnt have a room for us and to get ahold of travelocity for a refund.

The room was very clean but the Beds were too soft/caved in in the middle. The gym was pathetic, unfortunately. The guest laundry was for use with quarters only, front desk, though saying they could break dollars, couldn’t. It needs some TLC

First the good: -The staff was all very nice. You could tell they were trying to do their best with what management has given them. -The breakfast crew was excellent. High quality, good selection, different every day, and carefully watched to make sure there was plenty of everything. Again, kudos to the staff. -The lobby is spacious and nice. So is the courtyard behind it. The not-so-good: -The gym was a wreck. Broken treadmill.Barely working elliptical with broken buttons and TV. Trash and towels not taken out for days. Empty unused space where more equipment could be placed. And your roomkey won't open the gym. You have to go to the front desk to get a special gym key. -I think the pool is leaking because they had a hose running into it for the whole time we were there- made it unnecessarily cold despite high heat outdoors. Also, no towels housed nearby, One has to go to the front desk. -We had a two room suite (201). The keys kept malfunctioning and kept needing to be reprogrammed. It was hyper annoying. -Our rooms were dated. Old furnishings. Old TV's with barely working remotes. No USB ports. Little lighting- very dim. -No AC in our hallway -Only ONE ice machine for whole hotel that was perpetually out of ice. -Elevators were awful. Barely working. Took 5-10 minutes go up one floor

Elevator makes scary noise, interiors are very old, one of the night stands does not work, outside area looks pretty bad. Absolutely not worth $250. Total rip off

The breakfast was top notch. My teenage son said it was the best meal he had on vacation. I said you mean breakfast and he said, no meal...definitely above and beyond the typical hotel breakfast.

Overall the stay was ok. I didn’t appreciate the house keeping staff not changing the sheets, pillow case and blankets. They literally flipped it over and we can see the previous stains.

Overall, we had a nice stay. The double king suite was a huge room! No real major issues really but you can definitely tell an amateur does the renovations/repairs. The patch jobs in the bathroom and the literal wall sockets falling out of the wall in the "sitting room" are just a few to point out. I also wish they advertised that breakfast was from 7-10 and NOT 6-10 like it says posted everywhere on the website and onsite. We were there for a baseball tournament and that 6am time is crucial when you have to be on the field at 7am. Just disappointed but overall stay was as expected and room was clean and comfortable.

The biggest issue, however, was the noise. Every time someone closed their door nearby, it caused our entire room to vibrate. It was so loud and jarring that it woke us up multiple times during the night. At one point, we even thought someone was trying to force our door open—it was that intense. Clean rooms are appreciated, but noise and cleanliness throughout the hotel matter just as much. Sadly, we wouldn’t choose to stay here again unless improvements are made.

Room was a good size, and comfortable. The only issue I had with my stay was that the dryers weren’t working. However, the overnight staff, she was very helpful and she went above and beyond to help me.

This hotel was easy to get to and parking was great. Nice, quiet area and lovely staff. The condition of the hotel is a bit run down, like they're waiting to replace anything before a big renovation. It wasn't dirty, just stained chairs and a bit shabbier than other Holiday Inn Expresses I've stayed at. Breakfast was yummy and the beds were comfy.

The hotel was okay until morning breakfast. It was the worst service I have ever experienced at a hotel. They didn’t have enough food. They seem to be out of everything. On day two I found out that they only had one working oven so they could only cook one thing at a time. They ran out of eggs and basic morning staples. The staff on the first day just seemed pissed that we kept asking her for food. The second morning we had a lovely young lady who helped the best she could. She smiled at just kept pushing through to be of service. The only bright spot. It would have been less irritating if they would have told us about the issues when we checked in. That way we could have expected it and made other plans.

This property is very dirty in the breakfast area by looking at the chairs I immediately lost my appetite. The rooms were fine but things seem to be run down. A little more effort could go into cleaning things especially the eating area, kinda grossed out imagine what we aren’t seeing in the kitchen area.

Hotel is taken care of. Breakfast had several choices. Shopping and restaurants close by.

Found staines and not sure what splattered on the wall near the computer desk bed wasn't to bad but when arriving into the room it was 78 degrees with thermostat set too the off position

The trip was nice. Not enough parking and carts to bring your luggage in on.

Stay was quiet and no major issues. Floor was sticky by the bed and the corners of bathroom were dirty. Air freshener was over powering when you first walked in. We have stayed here before and it seems to have been a. It neglected this time.

Good price for a stay in area for doctor appointment. Area didn’t like the best but I never felt unsafe.

Can usually count on HIE for a decent stay. In town for a soccer tournament, waited late to get hotel. This was convenient, but overall not a decent HIE. Hallways had a very strong chemical (cleaning maybe) smell that was overpowering. Mattress on pull out couch was not only laughable, but also gross. Should not have called it a pull out. Disappointed in this HIE (but staff was good)

The hotel was clean, had a comfortable bed and offered a good variety at breakfast; however, this hotel is very old/outdated. It isn't worth $129/night, maybe $89-99/night tops. The furniture is worn; they do not offer hot water in the lobby for tea; I was placed on the ground level in the handicapper room after originally requesting a room on the top floor.

Overnight stay during the winter storms. Quick easy check in. No weird smells. Bed was comfy and clean.

Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Makes the stay more enjoyable, thank you!

convenience and price

Bathroom was flooded when we checked in. They gave me towels to clean it myself. Next day maintenance man stopped in as there was a known issue with toilet leaking and no one thought to warn me or move me. Never received my final bill they said they would email. Even called and asked to have it sent again. They offer laundry room but one of the units was out of order and other was always occupied. Not a great experience.

Seems to be where the construction workers stay.

There was some kind of stains on the pillow cases and sheets and when I ran a bath for my daughter, I noticed dark black hair on the soap bottles (none of my party had dark hair).. the toilet paper was very rough as well. Breakfast was decent, although the fruit was all not ripe at all, but the cinnamon rolls were my favorite and the coffee was good. Less stars for cleanliness since the room and then also the elevator and stairs were very dirty.

Staff were friendly, however, the hotel needs to replace carpeting, needs more than one coat of paint, need to update air conditioning, replace window curtains, the chair cushions in the dining room were stained and dirty. However, the breakfast was good. In general, a “facelift” is needed.

My husband and I stayed here during the Christmas Holiday. The 1 bedroom king suite with double beds was a nice space. Lots of room, we each had a bathroom and a tv in the sitting room as well as the bedroom. Would absolutely stay there again.

Check-in/Check- out was fast and efficient and desk staff were friendly and helpful. Beyond that this was not a good stay. The entire property has a run down, not well maintained feel. The room was old and outdated with poorly executed repairs and plentiful bugs. The back door of the ground floor hallway we stayed on had a broken latch and was unsecured. At one point, while walking my dog, I noticed a van pull up and drop off two women who entered through the unsecured door. Bottom line - you have better choices in Richmond.

The hotel was fine, it was in need of a refurbishment but not horrible. The fitness facility was in need of a complete overhaul, the treadmill did not work and the elliptical did not work, i was told that most people just walk around the parking lot??? Not really what I was after.

We had a lovely stay. Only 2 small issues. 1 the TV didnt work. Kept losing service. And 2 isnt really a problem but breakfast should be til 10. Smelled so good but i was too late.
