When we arrived, the room was clearly not cleaned properly. There were food crumbs and snacks all over the carpet, dog paw prints on the chair, and coffee stains on the wall. These are things that should have been noticed and cleaned before a guest checks in. I texted the hotel staff and requested housekeeping. I was told someone would come to the room at 7:30 PM. I even removed the privacy sign from the door to make sure they could enter, but nobody ever showed up. The only positive part of this hotel was the valet parking staff, who were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. The room was not clean, the service was unreliable, and the overall experience was far below what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. I honestly don’t understand how this hotel maintains a 4-star rating. I would not choose to stay here again. ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5)

Terrible hotel and terrible staff. I was visiting a family member at VCU who was in ICU. I contacted the hotel through hotels.com to let them know I wasn’t going to make it that night and when I arrived in the AM they had cancelled my booking for both nights and wouldn’t let me check in even for the 2nd night even though I had reached out to them. Thanks goodness I booked through hotels.com who were able to grant me one key points to cover another stay despite what the hotel did. Wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone but a big thanks to hotels.com

Location The room was terrible. Dark and depressing. It had one three foot wide window overlooking a courtyard. The door to the room was broken and wouldn’t close pushed it to left to make it fit in the opening. Someone looked at it the first night. But never fixed it. also room was never cleaned. I guess we had to request that.

The room was very dirty. Stains everywhere. Dirty rag outside the door. I felt dirty the whole time I was staying there but thankfully it was only one night. I would never return. I don't usually leave reviews but I'm taking the time to leave this one, so no one makes the same mistake I did.

Close proximity to the convention center Had a house phone and would not answer after 50 minutes of calling. Then the front desk said we could get late check out at 9 pm at night if we woke up at 7 am to request next day. The front desk said no and had no idea of this rule. Really!!

There was no microwave in my room. Someone brought me an old half functioning one. The doors to the other room slammed all night that kept me awake. The door to the bathroom was worn and had damage on it.
- 3/5
We also ended up having to move rooms because there was work being done to the pool and there was a very strong paint thinner smell in our room and halls near the elevator. We traveled with our baby so we requested to move rooms. The staff moved us right away to accommodate us.
- 3/5
The pool was closed for repairs, which was the primary reason we chose this hotel. The room smelled like urine but did improve once we turned on the air conditioning. They gave us a handicapped accessible room (which we didnt need) and the adjustable shower head would not stay up. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom so it was smelly and musty after use. The staff was great.

I booked this hotel for the pool and continental breakfast. The pool was closed for the week and it was not advertised that way, and even in the hotel they had the dates wrong. They offered me a refund if I wanted to leave which was kind, but it was too late for my family to move. The pool was closed, I was still able to Get into the room because only two Of the doors to The pool were lableled that it would be closed (from the 8th-13th, it was the 6th). It smelled weird and there were no chairs so I called the front desk who informed me it would be closed. I only booked this as a stop on a long road trip because my kids needed a pool after many hours of sitting. Then the next morning because of low Occupancy they were only doing menu order breakfast, which took forty minutes as opposed to The ten I was planning on with a continental grab and go. The food was also gross, very oily eggs, lumpy oatmeal, and chocolate chip pancakes tasted like cardboard. The water that came out of the tap in our room was brown. I could have gotten a much cheaper hotel- definitely not worth it.

Clean room staff was pleasant
- 1/5
The $20+ buffet breakfast was completely unacceptable — poor quality and not worth the price. More concerning was the ongoing construction noise coming from the adjacent room, including drilling, grinding, and loud music. When I raised this with the front desk, I was repeatedly given inaccurate and dismissive explanations (cleaning staff, outside traffic, nearby construction), none of which aligned with what was clearly audible from within my room. I even asked staff to come to the room to verify the issue themselves, and no one ever showed up. Despite all of this, I was not offered a room change or any resolution. This level of service and lack of accountability is unacceptable.
- 5/5
The room was nice and quiet. Elevators were always available.

The quote literally made us wait until exactly 4 to check in after a two hour drive. We specifically chose this hotel for the location and hot tub availability. Extremely disappointed to find it was not working. No one told us, and there wasn’t a sign so we got dressed and went down stairs to step into an ice cold “hot tub”. Then we found one of the water bottles for purchase they leave on the desk in the room had been drank from. Very disappointing and frankly gross.
- 3/5
The parking situation was not ideal. You either had to pay $40 for valet parking or pay $12 to park across the street but wake up before 6 am to extend the meter.
- 5/5
jazz night was great!

- 3/5
The front desk staff were less friendly. Everyone seemed in a rush to get things done. One gentleman who was friendly, seemed to be trying harder than the others, but overwhelmed as they kept leaving him alone. We were not able to enjoy our stay fully due to our room not being ready when we arrived. We were hoping to use the hot tub, which was the main reason we chose the Hilton. Unfortunately, we had to make the decision to skip it. Outside of service and confusion, the hotel was beautiful and clean. Shaun helped us check out and also helped us find some things we needed the next morning. His smiling face and friendly disposition brightened up what would have ended up being a completely disappointing stay.
- 2/5
The parking situation is ridiculous. Arrived at 3:45pm to a line of cars spilling out into the road and the valets doing nothing but standing around. No cars were being parked and everyone was getting frustrated. Finally after waiting nearly 30 mins, I parked the car in the line and went to get one of the valets myself. Was told I had to use an app/website to request the car and pay the $53 fee. After dealing with the parking situation, we went inside the hotel to check in. Check in was largely uneventful, but for a property claiming to be “4 stars” the decor and carpeting is subpar. This feels a lot like a Hampton Inn or other 2 star hotel. The room we were given had a strong odor of bleach, the door to the bathroom had a huge gash across the face of it from the entry door slamming into it. There’s no way to keep the bathroom door open because it’s on a self closing hinge. The air conditioning would not go below 67°F on the settings, but the room felt like it was in the mid-70s. We slept on top of the blankets and sheet the entire night because it felt so warm. I would not stay at the Hilton again. For all of the talk about this property being historic and upmarket, nothing about the appearance or experience felt high end. The ice maker on the 4th floor was also broken and all I was told when I advised the front desk staff was to just go use another floor’s ice maker. That’s fine, but no effort was made by them to repair it during our stay.

Front desk staff extremely unhelpful and indifferent. Asked for a late checkout to accommodate the errors upon arrival. Was told I’d need to book the room for a full extra day if I wanted to check out 2 hours later than standard time. When asked why the rate the front desk was offering was $60/night more than what was shown online met with another shoulder shrug. Air conditioning brutally loud all night long. Poor reflection on the Hilton brand stay elsewhere.

I had two Expedia reservations. One on a Wednesday, followed by a Thursday and Friday. Arriving late Wednesday the front desk said we could stay in the same room without having to move. I noticed right away mold on the bottom shower, yellow on the pillows, pillows were flat, while the toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, bath wash) hung in the shower, on the counter only had a cheap bar of soap and shower cap. The website said premium toiletries. The next day (Thursday), at 5 p.m., after working a conference nearby I returned to my room to find it unmade. I did not understand why. I called the front desk for clean towels so I could shower since mine were on the floor, still wet. The towels finally arrived 7:40 at night. Friday afternoon (still working at a conference nearby) I stopped into the hotel room at 3:30 p.m. The room was STILL unmade. I went to the front desk to complain. The front desk (John B.) said the maids were already gone for the day and they are unstaffed of maids. The hotel was also currently only making guest rooms every three days (the other front receptionist said five days). My room remained unmade the rest of the time. As a hotel guest I pay not just for a place to stay, but for a comfy and enjoyable clean place. This was a violation of OSHA and CDC best practices. I complained at the front desk. They gave me a Trip Adv. card to complain instead of resolving.

Location was close to my meeting Staff rude, room with heat on highest level was still.cold n heat kept cutting off. Fans in hallway very loud the smell was like mild n the pure life water was %3.50 for one bottle. Thank God I proud my own case of pure life water which cost my $4 @ sams. Coffee creamer in room was bad tried to get milk from staff they tried to charge me $5 for a tiny cup of milk. Just not a quality hotel as it appears on line. Oh yeah never put single woman in rooms with connecting doors didnt request an attaching room should never of been put in one with strangers on other side. Between the cold, fan noise n unsafe feeling I got no sleep n checked out early am!

I also experienced inappropriate and unprofessional behavior from the bartender, who was rude, refused to assist or serve me, and made an offensive comment asking why we don’t “drink rubbing alcohol.” At checkout, I reported all of these issues and was told someone would contact me. It has now been a week, and I have not received any follow-up or communication. I am very disappointed with this experience and how these concerns were handled. I would appreciate a response as soon as possible to address this matter.

Restaurants, layout Waited for the valet for 20 mins, walked in to inquire and was told lot was full and would have to park elsewhere.. no sign anywhere, no one informing, you just wait and wait. Also our sink obviously had a clog problem before we ran any water, as it was already stopped up with water. Should not use the room if the sink is clogged.

The staff is always above polite and professional. The room was clean. I had sons that went to college in Richmond and I used to stay in this hotel on a regular basis years ago. The door was very hard to open and close (damaged). The room smelled a little musty. The bathroom sink would not drain. The worst thing was that every time the heat came on there was a initially a loud clanking noise. I was unable to get much sleep.

The air conditioning system in the room was also a major issue. It didn’t work at all, and we had to spend the entire night in an uncomfortably hot room with no way to adjust the temperature. To add to the frustration, our room key didn’t work properly. We had to keep going back and forth just to get into our room. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve experienced. I expected much better from Hilton and hope these issues are addressed for future guests.

Staff for the most part is just ok. I've had better customer service in alot of places not named Hilton. Charging someone 21 dollars for a breakfast that would be free at a lesser establishment is criminal. The menu in general is just limited. The room was clean but noisey and in 2025 can we not have curtains that keep the light out?

Check was ok; valet and bellman were nice. Trying to check in and ask for our room, we were greeted by an unhappy employee. Our room was serviced by emptying our trash cans...the bed wasn't made, and we only got one towel. Asked for an additional towel, and that came hours later. No vents in the bathrooms which just made them hot and wet....and the doors just slam closed. Our one room the bathroom door didn't even close! The staff was nice, but overall, one of the worst hotels I've stayed at in a long time.

Cleanliness was average, maintenance is needed a few places throughout the hotel, valet parking is very limited, the beds are very comfortable, breakfast was good, location was great.

The front desk staff were very friendly at check in. Room service is hard to navigate, and menu for this was inaccessible. We just kind-of asked the staff over the phone if they had certain types of entrees. The shower was broken with low water pressure. Water was then cold or lukewarm. Handle of closet was completely broken. The hotel just looks like it needs some TLC to charge the prices we paid. We ended up leaving after one night because I didn’t want to bathe our kids in the stained, barely working tub. The beds were clean and comfy, though!

This is a well-appointed hotel, perfect for work travel, with onsite bar and restaurant options and valet parking. The only inconvenience was the hotel's Starbucks espresso machine was broken (luckily there was another Starbucks in the hotel directly across the street.)

my room door was broken - the hinge was broken - so it made it very difficult to close my door i had to lift it with both hands, i asked to switch rooms when i called and they asked me to call back to check on rooms. i also asked twice for them to refill my body wash which was empty and they never did. my room was only cleaned once upon asking and still didnt get any refills on soaps

The room was clean and nice. The ventilation in the bathroom didn't operate so it stayed hot in there after showers. The pillows while soft and fluffy stayed flat. The staff incorrectly informed me of valet pricing citing a sheet and said $49 for two days. It was per day. Overall a great stay aside from not realizing this was the one Hilton location that didn't included breakfast.

I really love this property. The rooms are nice and large and the bathrooms are a good size. I want to give a special shoutout to Miri who was very kind to procure 4 wine glasses for my room and a deck of cards! I did not give it 5-stars because of a few small things like no wine glasses in the room, no writing pad or pen, and the fact that a bottle of water in the room is $3 (unless you are a member). Staff was great, location is nice, but it's the little things that add up to get a 5-star rating.

The sink in the bathroom had mold and mildew around the edge..that is a cleaning issue. I pointed it out to the front desk and it was taken care of however the caulking around the tub both floor and the edging around the tub has mold and mildew build up it needs to be taken up and replaced, that is a maintenance issue. My Parents after their retirement ended up managing a large hotel on the outer Banks of North Carolina. Cleaning and maintenance was a family affair. Otherwise we enjoyed the restaurants and bar Lounge. The Italian restaurant was excellent.

Benjamin the concierge was always helpful with his recommendations which were spot on. However, it was so noisy on the street outside our window we couldn’t sleep and we were on the 5th floor. The shouting, arguing, and yelling went on all night into the early morning. For that reason we would never stay at this location.

The hotel was a great location from Richmond Raceway. It took only 15 minutes. Overall, it is a nice hotel, just worn in some areas. Doors were tough to close. Exhaust in bathrooms could be better. HVAC a bit inconsistent keeping the room cool.

Felt a bit of attitude by the moment I checked in at the counter, ie staff was unusually delaying the check in while 2 people after me got checked in. Worst part is on the day of check out the Valet staff lost my car key (extremely unusual ) and ended up booking another rental for me. They didn’t seems to care much about this incident and keep saying the staff may be sleeping and laughing. Something fishy with these staff mindset, never seen such Hilton Honers experience before.

Hotel amenities were good, however, restaurants food wasn't that good. No microwave in our room made it inconvenient for warming up leftovers from other restaurants.

- 5/5
The Hotel Staff was nice and the beds were very comfortable, however the top portion of the freezer was frost bitten and wouldn't close. My sister is diabetic and needed to freeze her medicine. We called the front desk, but nothing happened until she spoke to the manager. Maintenance did come right away. However, because the refrigerator door didn't close the night before, all of the ice melted before hand. Management was willing to switch out the refrigerator.
- 4/5
Very good experience. The valet attendant, Jodi was very polite, friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Jason on front desk was very nice and gave us an upgraded room, which was very spacious! And beds were so comfortable!! Only complaint was they charged me for parking, when I didn’t even drive. But front desk fixed and removed from my bill.
- 5/5
Staff was incredible, with a huge shout out to Mickey/Minnie. She was incredible with all our questions and needs.
- 5/5
3 restaurants are in the hotel with reasonable price.
- 4/5
Location was great. Food in restaurant was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially the concierge.
- 5/5
pool and hot tub were nice, dining facility was pleasant and we and the kids had excellent meals and good service by Tete.
- 3/5
For the $250 a night we paid I would have expected it to be cleaner than it was. There was hair one the ceiling in the bathroom. Hair in the shower stall, dust in the AC vent. The mini fridge did not cool and the iron did not work. The dining within the facility didn’t have many options and valet was very expensive and half the time we got the truck ourselves. We will not be staying at this hotel again and will not suggest it to friends.
- 5/5
All was great! But the bed pillows to soft no support.
- 5/5
The breakfast service on Sunday morning was quite slow, but I imagine that is a staffing issue that should be addressed. Otherwise, you could opt for the buffet and avoid any wait times.
- 1/5
I landed at 10 AM. Did not get my room until 3:30 PM being homeless for five hours sucked. The staff did not ask me for a phone number to call and let me know when my room is ready. We sit and watch people check in and get wrong keys over and over But every time we went to the front desk, there were no rooms available. They were being cleaned we were told.
- 4/5
The rug was dirty and ants were in the bathroom.
- 5/5
Overall a good stay . The room was a little outdated compare to the rest of the hotel
- 3/5
To begin, the lobster bisque was absolutely putrid. There is no other word to describe it—it was foul, inedible, and should be immediately taken off the menu. Following that, the mussels I was served were cold, which is both unappetizing and unacceptable, especially for seafood. As if that wasn’t enough, right before packing up my wings, I found a bug casually prancing on my celery sticks. That alone was enough to ruin my appetite completely. To be fair, the waitress was incredibly sweet and professional. She did her best to make up for the situation by removing the bisque from the bill and offering a discount on the wings, which I appreciated. However, her kindness doesn't erase the fact that the food and experience were beyond disappointing. Additionally, I originally came in wanting the prime steak listed on the menu linked via the QR code in the room. Only then was I informed that the menu was outdated and no longer in rotation, and the manager had just received credentials to make updates. Honestly, I could not care less about internal issues—it is not the consumer’s responsibility to navigate your operational disorganization. Bottom line: fix it. Update your menus, ensure food is served fresh and clean, and most importantly, take that bisque off the list before someone else has to endure that mess.
- 5/5
Everything was beautiful and clean
- 4/5
Comfortable. Clean. Convenient. Friendly staff. Nice.
- 1/5
Hotel was overbooked and oversold, had a very difficult experience as I was told that if I were to cancel I would still be charged for one night, despite my literally inability to check into the hotel
- 3/5
Rooms are ok, spacious, headboard if the bed was scratched and worn, bathroom was modern and nice. The rest of the common areas seem older, not modern. Breakfast was ok, however the spread lacked in versatility of offerings offered by similar hotels. Not sure if Hilton will be our choice of hotel for future travels.
- 5/5
Room are excellent, clean, great location
- 5/5
Parking right across street
- 4/5
The property had a good pool, hot tub, and gym. Most of the doors stuck and had to be forcefully opened. To the room, the bathroom, and the pool.
- 5/5
The property is clean, the room was a good size. We stayed for an event at the convention and the walking distance is short. The property is a good place to stay if you’re looking for lodging close to the convention center and other area’s downtown near the convention center.
- 5/5
Staff were friendly and helpful
- 2/5
- 4/5
The property was overall very clean, friendly and helpful staff. Our room was very clean and the bathroom itself was clean but the ceiling had gnats or fruit flies stuck to it and no exhaust van so there was a small bit of discolored condensation on the ceiling every time we showered. Otherwise, very clean room and hotel. Quiet rooms, lots of dining close by, walkable distance.
- 3/5
Pool area was old, dirty. Super slippery floor tiles; hair, gunk on floor. Pool surfaces dirty. Don't order room service. 3 servings came combined, tossed in 2 plastic bags in plastic containers, and there was no place in the room to eat it.
- 3/5
I went to Richmond for the world premiere of an opera at a theater just a block away from the hotel. Check-in was fine and my room was clean and comfortable. However, it lacked basic amenities: a glass in the bathroom, pen and a pad on the desk, etc. So - bare bones. I stayed for two nights and my room was not serviced on the second day.
- 3/5
Overall the stay was nice, the restaurant was good, VERY pricy. $16 for 3 small/medium pancakes. The front staff were nice, no complaints there. We did reserve an accessible with a tub due to a physical disability, and unfortunately were given a shower and noticed too late as we were there for an event. The room was MOSTLY clean. You can tell it had been wiped down fast but not thoroughly cleaned. Went to order room service to find that the phone did not have a power cord!! (Honestly we found this hilarious)
- 5/5
I had a great stay here for my graduation weekend! Everyone was accommodating and wonderful. Kudos to the bar staff, they were slammed but always attentive.
- 2/5
I didn’t like this property for $260 a night no wayyyy never again. It needs a renovation big time. Front area desk was dirty not wiped down in a while. Really dirty. Entrance to hotel has horrible old tiles and our room had a door to the bathroom that needed to be replaced. Really old and scraped. No finishing touches to the hotel. Just horrible felt like a 1 star motel. Staff at hotel was nice but that’s about it.
- 3/5
Good location with many restaurants within walking distance. Hot tub a plus. Over priced in general.
- 3/5
Check in waited 30 minutes. Staff surly. Room good though zero soundproofing from corridor
- 4/5
In the area was good with just enough activity, not being super quiet or super loud. I had to switch my room once because of the condition of the table and couch. The couch in the new room was still stained. All of the furniture in the rooms which I saw needed to be shampooed.
- 3/5
Expensive parking & breakfast
- 1/5
We waited in a line to check in for 30 minutes. A man cut in front of us and said he tried to enter his room but it was already occupied. We were afraid that would happen to us because the staff looked very stressed and scrambled.
- 5/5
Second time staying here. I love the high ceilings, large room size, and the pillow top queen beds. Awesome shower. Large tv. Location is very convenient. The valet staff are very friendly and prompt. We haven’t had a chance to eat on site but looked popular and the bar had some good live jazz playing. Also interested in trying the pool next time, we will be back! Thanks for a great stay!
- 4/5
The overall experience was great besides one thing. The hvac in my room was too loud everytime it went on and off. It felt like someone was coming into the room. Besdirs that everything was ok
- 3/5
It was very nice, but i must say i was not expecting to pay 40$ a night for parking and 21$ for a buffet that is the same foods i would get at a continental breakfast. So overall everything was very nice but very expensive.
- 5/5
Everything was good.
- 4/5
My room had a very heavy smoke smell. A previous guest had done a lot of smoking there. The hotel should have done something about it.
- 1/5
When I walked into the lobby the receptionist was more preoccupied about the conversation with her coworker instead of checking me in, I had to tell her, excuse me I am in a rush can you please check me in.
- 5/5
We stayed here for a night away and to see a concert at the national. The hotel was very nice upon walking in- there was convenient parking right across the street if you don’t want to pay for valet (~$20/day). The staff were great as well as the bar on site. Our room was very quiet. Almost too quiet, so if you sleep with noise in the background, bring your own sound machine. Overall our stay was fantastic and I would definitely stay here again!
- 3/5
Location has no free parking and very limited valet parking. We had to park outside the premises. At a minimum, they should have enough space for their own customers to pay for valet parking.
- 2/5
The property is getting dated. The staff is excellent. Rooms are tired.
- 2/5
No cups. TV didn’t work. No do not disturb sign. Toilet broken
- 5/5
Had an amazing stay, and the hotel was clean.
- 2/5
As for the shower, the knob in the shower is literally listed in one of the foundational UX books to be a prime example of bad user experience. I spent a couple minutes trying to figure it out, gave up. Turning on Cartoon Network and taking a temperate shower shouldn't be too much to ask for from a hotel. No amount of cleanliness makes up for that.
- 5/5
Very accommodating staff and nice property.
- 5/5
Close to convention center
- 1/5
Terrible communication and follow through on refund. Was not able to travel due to winter storm, notified in advance and lost over $900.
- 4/5
I didnt care for the wait at breakfast in the morning. It felt like no one was paying attention to is. Had to ask for glasses to drink from. Good food tho.
- 4/5
The hotel itself looks like it may have been renovated somewhat recently. It was nice with a good restaurant in the lobby. It wasn’t in a good walking area from what we could see.
- 4/5
The hotel stay was good. The facility was clean and quiet. Parking was a bit challenging so if you can then opt for valet. Our heat wasn't warm enough. The thermostat would set for 68 degrees every time we rose it higher. Good stay overall.
- 5/5
Staff was accommodating to my personal request.
- 3/5
Hotel staff was great. Food services staff, not as great. Be sure to plan for an hour if you want to have breakfast.
- 3/5
Shower floor was not very tidy!!
- 5/5
This hotel was perfect for celebrating a dear friend’s birthday. Having the option to dine at the hotel and the wonderful staff who made her birthday even more special made for a great night.
- 5/5
Centrally located and the rooms were large and clean.
