Reviews
The hotel is generally praised for its convenient location, particularly for those attending events at Chase Field or the Phoenix Convention Center. Guests also appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms and the comfort of the beds. However, there are consistent complaints about the quality of breakfast and the additional cost for parking. Some guests also express dissatisfaction with the staff's attitude and the state of the bathrooms in some rooms.

We have stayed here for the last 3 years to attend Fan Fusion Phoenix. We keep coming back because of the hot breakfast in the morning, the great staff and the large comfortable rooms. Even the 70s pattern on the couch in the room reminds me of home. The price to park your car is only 18 a night which if you travel to downtown Phoenix you know that is a bargain. It is a 10 minute walk to the convention center but very safe. You can find fancier hotels but we will continue to stay here...it is home!

Excellent stay, staff was very nice and our room was pleasant and clean

There's a small area for necessities on the ground level, but it would be nice to have vending machines on all the floors.
- 5/5
I love that so lovely everything thank you so much for having us stay with. Come completely amazing.!!
- 5/5
We are very content with our stay. We booked here because it is close to Chase Field, we walked there and avoided all the traffic, also paying for parking. Will definitely be staying there in the future.

The pool area is very nice and cool to hang out in. The breakfast buffet is fair for a motel. The rooms are not very clean our room look like it hadn’t been vacuumed in months with food all over the floor. The property itself could use some updates and some cleaning. There is a lot of homeless people in the area, so not sure if I would take a family there. And most of all they charge you $20 to park in their parking lot that I had no idea of before I checked in.
- 5/5
Check in was fast. Used a 3rd party so was unaware of the $18 per night parking. Room and hotel was very clean. Pool was nice and clean. Breakfast was decent like most with a variety of items. Walking distance to everything downtown phoenix. Would stay again.

Disappointing
- 5/5
After a long day of travel, it was so nice to have a friendly and helpful greeting at the front desk. The beds were so comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.
- 4/5
The hotel is downtown Phoenix and you need a key to open the front door. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk to open the door and we had to wait a bit for her to arrive. After that everything was fine. Older hotel but nice. Bed was very comfortable and breakfast was good. Didn’t realize there was an $18 a night parking fee which was a little disappointing.

Parking was ok but not free good breakfast

There is a basketball court which you may or may not love depending on whether you will play while you’re there.

The hotel was a bit worn down and had a a lot of wear and tear. There was an artificial strawberry-ish scented air freshener that came out of the A/c that was overwhelming. But I cannot emphasize enough that the staff were beyond incredible. Every single person that worked there went above and beyond to welcome us and accommodate. They are all truly special people and a special shout out to Jennifer. It was for that reason, we enjoyed our stay. Old and worn down

Room was clean, staff was nice, breakfast was amazing one of the best I have seen for a hotel. However was not aware of the $18/ per day parking charge or $100 security deposit.
- 4/5
We encountered a challenge & couldn't get back into the hotel on our last night but it was quickly resolved. Apparently, the rep that checked us on entered the wrong departure date otherwise, excellent service was provided.
- 5/5
This hotel was a great place to stay while visiting Phoenix for the first time! The staff was very was very friendly and helpful! The property offer many amenities like a grab and go kiosk, pool with towels readily available, and breakfast buffet in the morning! Over it was a lovely stay!

The Best Western in Downtown Phoenix was a great stay! The staff was very friendly and super helpful! The rooms were clean, spacious, and well kept. I would definitely come back to this hotel in the future !
- 3/5
The rooms could use a refresh. Did not use the pool as the water was a toxic green colour. The wifi did not work at all for our entire stay. Staff were more than helpful trying to resolve and did provide me with a credit which was appreciated.
- 3/5
I reserved a king room with a sofa bed because we were 3 people. There was no bedding for the sofa bed and had to go to front desk to get bedding. They did not have any pillows so was not able to get a pillow to sleep on….. just bad service…
- 2/5
Staff were excellent, friendly. Breakfast was great and lady attending the breakfast room was very good THE POOL WAS GREEN - NOT USABLE!! Was not being cleaned until the following week! We were not advised of this before or during check-in. We only found out when we went outside to use it. One of the main reasons we booked here was for the use of the pool !!!

The cost of parking was a little of an inconvenience but also understandable because it’s in downtown phoenix

Room was clean but pool was unusable due to algae

Need to replace tile in room 219, gross lokking.

Although parking is an extra cost, the location and ease of getting around make this hotel a good choice if you are attending sporting events or concerts in downtown.

The eggs weren’t all that great; However, the lady serving the breakfast was great. The front desk Alec was awesome considering he was the ONLY one working for whatever reason. Also, I had to pay $18 on top of my room fee PER NIGHT.
- 5/5
Alec checked us in and was very friendly and helpful. Rooms, properties, and amenities were clean and well kept. They even had a basketball for us to borrow for their basketball court. Rooms were very clean and location seemed quiet despite being next to a construction site and near downtown. Great location, walking distance to many things downtown.

Location is good. The breakfast is okay for a continental breakfast. We got there at 4:10pm and we could get in our room until 11:30 pm because they were under staff. No clean rooms available. At one point there were 41 people at the lobby waiting for rooms. Totally unacceptable. They wouldn’t refund money.

The room was musty smelling, and we had to pay parking at the hotel. I never had to pay for parking at hotel. Breakfast was to be served st 6:00 am, but not served until 7:00. We didn’t eat. The room rates were very expensive and not worth it!
- 3/5

- 5/5
The room was very clean and the staff friendly.
- 2/5
It was right downtown not too far from the convention center which was where I needed to go each day. I had 2 people in the room for the first night, the 2nd had a truck. We have them the license plate etc and signed but the next day the truck had a sign on it that it couldn’t be there. They would only give us one key, that key stopped working. Got another at work the entire time. When I ask them to possibly switch rooms from a King to two beds the answer was just no. I understand that it may have been busy, but they weren’t very nice about it.

This was our second time staying here and this time was significantly better than the first. We were on the second floor, rooms and area surrounding the hotel were pretty quiet. Breakfast is included, pretty on par for hotel breakfasts. Sausage one day, bacon the next, pasteries, cereal, waffle maker, etc. Lobby had decaf, regular, and hot water for tea and hot chocolate available 24/7. Parking was $18 a day. Not sure if it was the hotel or my bank but there was a $100 hold for the deposit and then an additional charge for the parking, but I had been told the parking would be taken out of the deposit. Showers were very nice, hot water, great pressure. And rooma were very spacious.

Staff/Building - The staff was helpful and checking in/out was super easy. They also have luggage storage, which is a definite plus. You either need a key card just to get into the building or you need to be buzzed in by the front desk. No random people could just walk in off the street, so I felt safe here. There is a small market/shop between the front desk and the elevator for any essentials or snacks you need. Room - The bed was very comfortable. The shower was good. I had to search a little to locate the hair dryer (it was in a drawer under the tv). The curtains don't close to block the sun, so if you're not a morning person, you might want to bring an eye mask. The wifi is good enough for streaming Netflix and Youtube, but maybe not for gaming (I have yet to stay in a hotel that has free wifi fast enough for online gaming, but I still check). I only had to wait for an elevator once. Most times, I could get on it right away. Location - It's across the street from the Arizona Center, which has shopping, dining, and a movie theater. It's also walking distance to the science center and some historical buildings. If you like ghost tours, many of them start around that square. It's also very close to the airport, about 20 or 25 minutes (by car, not walking).

The front desk staff were all very friendly. The breakfast was good and enough for me. Our room was spacious but quite worn and old looking. The bed was good. The bath towels were thin and scratchy. The hand towels were new and soft. The bathtub was not in good shape and stained. The sink, floor, and toilet bowl had chips in them. It was quiet at night. Also, we were surprised by the $18+ for overnight parking. We weren’t expecting that even though after closer inspection I saw it listed on their page.

The fact that you need to be 21 years old to check in is a ridiculous policy that needs to be made very clear when booking. They call a 20 year old a minor, yet are willing to throw that minor out onto the streets at midnight.

The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and supportive, which added so much to the overall experience. The swimming pool was well-maintained, and the hot tub was wonderfully warm and refreshing. Friendly staff, building is older and could use updates. Soft beds.
- 4/5
Spacious room and comfortable common areas made this hotel a good value for one night. I did struggle a bit to sleep due to noise from the AC, refrigerator and nearby rooms, but unplugging the appliances helped with this.
- 5/5
The staff was exceptional. We arrived later on Tuesday and the person on duty went above and beyond to accommodate us. She was welcoming, kind and funny. The room was very clean. The breakfast was delicious.
- 4/5
The staff here was incredible. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was decent. Price was right.
- 5/5
It was overall a great peaceful place to stay. Ill definitely stay again. I recommend this hotel for any amount of stay.
- 4/5
Nice room and good service
- 1/5
Expedia had me wait just to check in like omg horrible service
- 5/5
Overall I was happy with Best Western Downtown and I would certainly stay there again and recommend it to anyone coming to Phoenix.
- 2/5
The room smelled like cigarettes covered up by strong perfume. The room was very dingy with what looked like mud hardened in the corners. The hallways smelled like cigarettes. The pool had loud drunk adults. Overall very unpleasant. I would not bring my children back here.
- 5/5
Comfortable bed, clean room, great shower pressure location location location
- 5/5
Great breakfast, clean room, clean pool, outgoing and kind staff. Loved our stay!
- 1/5
Never got there due to travel problems in the US. Still have not received the invoice I need because they declined to refund any of my money, regardless of circumstances beyond my control.
- 5/5
Rooms were big, breakfast fine, good distance to downtown
- 3/5
The staff was courteous. The room smelled.
- 3/5
The room was disappointingly dirty—there was heavy dust on the table lamps, and the toilet was not properly cleaned. I requested housekeeping for several days in a row, but no one ever came. The blankets also made me itchy throughout the night, and I ended up having to request fresh sheets and change them myself since the room was never made up despite asking for a week. Even the light bulbs were covered in dust. I had two separate reservations—one for a queen bed at the start of my stay and another for a king bed later in the week, as my partner was joining me. When I checked in, I asked if it was possible to stay in a king room from the beginning so I wouldn’t have to check out and move mid-week. I was told they had updated my booking and assigned me a king room for the entire stay. However, when I got to the room, it turned out to be a queen bed. When I went back to ask about the mistake, I was told that the king rooms were already fully booked because they had switched my original king reservation, leaving me without the room type I had actually booked.
- 5/5
nice place and staff/\.room was large clean and comfortable. One issue. no wifi access in room 212 wifi was ok down at reception.. hope they fix it
- 5/5
Great location. Quiet and clean!
- 4/5
Very professional and courteous staff. The hotel is older, but well kept and clean. Very convenient being walking distance to many of the event centers downtown.
- 4/5
Rooms were spotless and the staff was courteous, especially Assistant Manager Candy was amazing. Candy fixed our AC and they also got the hot tub working where it has hot water the next day of our trip which was fast. We will be back i would say that I wish the Sunday lady who runs breakfast understood that the waffle iron needs spray so waffles do not stick, she was convinced it was for conditioning the waffle iron only. We own a commercial waffle maker and know you must spray each time. However, that is. Not a big deal this staff is great and very nice, so again we will be back!
- 5/5
We had a great stay.Thank you!

Clean room and courteous staff
- 4/5
The hot tub was very cool, temperature wise. The pool was a nice refreshing temperature. The rest of the hotel was fine.
- 5/5
Courteous staff, clean room and filling breakfast. Conveniently located downtown.
- 4/5
Nice staff, good breakfast
- 5/5
The hotel is in a good location, near venues in the downtown area. Our room as clean and quiet and the beds were comfortable. Coffee in the lobby was great and hot breakfast was very good.
- 5/5
We had great service and the breakfast was good - best biscuits and gravy (with sausage in gravy) that I have had but I guess since it said "buffet" breakfast I thought there would be hot eggs (versus cold boiled eggs) and maybe some bacon. The room was large, clean, and very comfortable.
- 1/5
They just changed the room. Eventually, I had to move to the original room that was assigned to me. Despite my attempts to remain positive, they decided to charge me for checking out a day earlier. The tall black man was the one who handled this. Terrible experience. It seems like clean but I can smell weed in my room whole day
- 5/5
Staff were friendly, room was clean, bedding very comfortable.
- 5/5
Very clean rooms
- 5/5
The hotel staff were very engaging. Breakfast was great. Room clean. Would stay again

The rooms were super clean. The location is very very convenient. It is a very safe area my husband at one point even walk to a mini market even though we had a rental car it was just a nice evening walk and it was very safe. We got checked in by Brittany was absolutely lovely and gave us great service the entire stay and then we had another gentleman named MJ and he did an amazing job every evening. It was just beautiful. The breakfast was great. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this place was.
- 4/5
It was perfectly fine. Clean.
- 4/5
The front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. The lady taking care of the breakfast was super nice too. The breakfast foods were amazing! So much food to choose from and all very fresh. We also enjoyed the pool in the evening, which was very well kept.
- 4/5
The downtown best Western in Phoenix was adequate for the stay I booked property was relatively clean. They had a breakfast. I stayed one night unfortunately I had to get up very early to attend an event so I got it before and left before I could have breakfast. The entrance to the hotel requires you to either have a key card or to be admitted by hotel staff I found this somewhat inconvenient.
- 5/5
Clean room, great breakfast. Friendly staff at check in and check out, would highly recommend! Felt safe entire stay.
- 4/5
Walking distance to some great restaurants, bars. Very clean pool, room, and good breakfast. They do charge a $18/night for parking.
- 5/5
The location was clean and well stocked. Quality breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Great breakfast
- 5/5
Great breakfast
- 5/5
Parking is charged, and I wish the fee was included upfront.
- 3/5
Curtains would not close in room and my friend couldn’t sleep because of the bright lights outside which we could not block out.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing awesome!! Booked a room with a king bed and sofa bed. Showed up with only the kind bed. Called down to the front desk. He was kind enough to switch us rooms and had no issues. Will recommend and will be staying here again!!
- 5/5
Friendly staff and I was able to check in early.
- 4/5
Didn't like the parking charge and when checking out girl at counter wasn't to friendly

- 5/5
The area is
- 5/5
Gym and Hot tub: good Round the clock tea and coffee is very nice
- 3/5
It was ok. We got the room because it was walking distance to Chase Field. Rooms were aged, but everything worked. Staff was friendly. Surrounding area was a little sketch, but near downtown and we still walked around at night.
- 5/5
Everyone was Friendly and the Facilities were clean and wonderful.
- 4/5
Good hotel in Phoenix if you’re in town for a ballgame, ball, or a show downtown. 15-20 minute walk from the A train and the venues. Has a very small fitness center and a pool. Pool gets good sun in the afternoons. Also includes continental breakfast.
- 4/5
Room was in order but it did feel like it was due for a deep clean. Restroom smelled a bit like a gas station restroom and panel on sink was starting to fall off. Room information card said breakfast started at 6:30 so we worked it into our schedule but were told it didn’t start until 7 so we lost lost on on the value of staying at Best Western. Would stay again for similar travel if the price was right.
- 5/5
Room was clean and bed was very comfortable
- 5/5
Nice and quiet surroundings
- 5/5
Excellent and convenient
- 4/5
The location is great and fairly easy to get to. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The pillows, however, were not great.
- 4/5
I didn't like how guests slam their doors woke me up in the morning
- 5/5
Special thanks to MJ at the front desk. He answered all questions we had and was extremely courteous.

- 4/5

- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful finding a restaurant. The hotel was clean and offered a nice variety of food for breakfast.
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay! Everything with property was excellent.
- 5/5
I best bed ever slept in.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay safe warm and comfortable and the best beds got a good night sleep. Felt safe and comfortable
- 4/5
Everything was good and pleasant except when they charge you for parking. Parking should be free.
- 5/5
5 outta 5 would book again
- 1/5
the property is outdated, the pictures here on the website is very much misleading, parking is $18 a night, rooms outdated and small, poor customer service. I left the property the same day I arrived and Best Western still charged me for parking knowing I checked out of the hotel. I'm still disputing charges.
- 5/5
Clean, breakfast was great and the pool and whirlpool were well maintained
- 4/5
Nice and clean property. Perfect for a work conference
- 5/5
Helpful front desk, delicious breakfast buffet, accommodating housekeeping staff. Clean grounds and interior including pool, hot tub and laundry room. Enjoyed our six night stay.
- 5/5
Loved will come back for sure
- 3/5
Disliked eating breakfast with plastic cutlery and cardboard plates. A real let down. Made place seem cheap. Also, couch bed in room VERY uncomfortable and no linen provided.
- 5/5
convenient location, nice pool, friendly staff and good breakfast. Has been remodeled so generally really nice and clean, but there were some holes in curtains.
- 5/5
Great customer service, room service and facility. Could use some more black tea options. Breakfast was good! Thanks and keep up the great work! God bless you!
- 4/5
It was cost effective
- 5/5
Good room, nice staff.
- 2/5
Furniture generally in poor condition. Pull out couch was barely usable. Hotel remedied with “zip ties” but we had to fix on our own due to maintenance not being available. Manager not as accommodating as we liked. Generally poorly run and starting rapid dilapidation.
- 4/5
Everyone was very accomodating. The only complaint was I did not know there were parking charges every day.
- 4/5
Liked the breakfast buffet. Hotel needs updating especially bathrooms. Tub looked dingy and fixtures were rusty. Furniture looked worn.
- 5/5
The tub was dirty
- 5/5
Friendly staff, secure site. Amazing ‘free’ breakfast!!
- 4/5
family, calm and safe environment
- 4/5
My friends and myself very much appreciate , MJ front desk officer who has been very helpful to his guests. Great Job, MJ!!

Clean and comfortable
- 5/5
Stay was good. Walking distance to chase stadium and other downtown attractions including restaurants.
- 5/5
The staff treated us so well. We would definitely return if ever in the area again. The room was amazing, it fit everything we needed. Hands down best hotel we’ve stayed at in a very long time
- 5/5
We stay here every year when we attend Fan Fusion Phoenix. It is a 10 minute walk, reasonably priced rooms and parking! And a great breakfast to start our day!
- 4/5
Basic, clean, comfortable. AC blows cold. Everything I want from Best Western.
- 5/5
I believe that this property works hard to please its guests! It was clean, quiet and the breakfasts were great! I would stay there again! It's also close to so many things!
- 5/5
Thanks

Charging for parking is an absolute scam. I'd understand if this property was in the heart of downtown or used a garage/valet , but they have their own dedicated parking lot. Makes no sense. $40 for a weekend for parking is atrocious. Shame on you. They deduct the parking from your deposit/hold. Breakfast was super mid. I understand a free hotel breakfast, but it was nothing special. I don't expect much from fake eggs, and typical hotel fair, but this was on the worse end of things. Rooms were a bit dingy and the lighting was super dim. Even with all lights on, the room felt....dark. Grates on windows added to the overall dark feeling. AC unit on the wall did nothing, and you had to use the actual control on the AC unit. But ours was missing the knob. So it was either freezing, or off. No in between. When I mentioned this I was just offered apologies. Because it's downtown, you need a key to get in. Wouldn't stay here again. Would use the $40 i spent on parking and get something nicer, and closer to Chase Field.
- 5/5
The room was very spacious, great breakfast and within walking distance of many restaurants and attractions.
- 5/5
The only complaint is not enough carts to take luggage. I have no other complaints.
- 1/5
Running up and down the hallways. The curtains in the room don’t block out the morning sun. Can’t close them all the way. Pay for parking? Really? Rip off.
- 5/5
Loved it👍
- 3/5
Thought it was a Holiday Inn ... its a Best Western now and it drasrically changed in the last 5 years.
- 5/5
Beautiful and clean hotel. Very secure. Friendly desk staff.

- 3/5
Every host up until the day of check out was nice and very helpful but i asked for a late check out and the lady that day was very rude.
- 5/5
Front desk clerk and the manager were very nice
- 5/5
Laid back and close to ball park
- 2/5
Felt pretty misled. Her suite was not a sweet. It was two tiny beds with a pull out that had a mattress about one inch thick with every single spring nearly poking through. There were no extra bedding for the pullout bed and when we called down to get it they wouldn't even deliver it to the room we had to go pick it up. Which is fine but I am paralyzed and in a wheelchair so that doesn't make it very convenient when you were elevator is not meant for much more than one person. We waited almost one hour to check in. There was some lady who was an employee from some other BW anne was trying to get her discount but didn't have enough money and was trying to pay with 6000 cards and instead of moving out of the way and waiting to get her things together your receptionist decided it would be okay to keep everyone waiting in the line while this lady sorted out her personal business. One person working on a Saturday night at 8:00 PM. On a weekend of a holiday and a baseball game in town. Disappointed and I will never go here again, and I will make sure that the person who recommended me knows what happened, and they won't be attending either. They stay with you through their company so I will be contacting their company and letting them know my experience. For the price and inconvenience you guys get five negative stars. There was zero handicapped parking available so my family had to drop me off at the front. You need some help an organization at this facility.

- 5/5
Good staff
- 5/5
It was a good stay, but I would recommend backup check-in and check-out staff. The timing of actually going into our room was an hour plus after 3 pm check in.
- 5/5
Great staff, very helpful
- 5/5
Pretty place and very nice in downtown phoenix
- 5/5
Such a calm, quiet hotel. We had the pool to ourselves on multiple occasions. It was a fun relaxing trip. The breakfast was nice too.
- 4/5
Our stay way fine. The hotel was nice with friendly staff. The rooms needs to be updated and carpet removed. The pullout needs to be replaced or a new mattress.
- 5/5
Very clean,staff was very helpful.
- 5/5
The staff were PHENOMENAL!
- 4/5
The hotel itself is very conveniently located. On Saturday, the farmers market is just across the street (diagonally). There are many restaurants within walking distance.

- 4/5
Good place, clean and very professional and polite staff. However, the room's bathroom needs some update. It is old and ugly. Also, they charge a $20 parking fee which i was very disappointed since i think should be included. I will not stay there again.
- 5/5
Staff is patient and helpful.
- 4/5
Great location with plenty of parking downtown. Easy walk to the convention center.
- 5/5
Very convenient the breakfast was also very convenient. Made it very easy for me.
- 4/5
Would be great if there wasn’t a parking charge.
- 4/5
Easy for going for medical care.
- 5/5
Much better stay this time. First time was next to the gym. Great location near the lobby and dining area, but next to the gym was not so great. That room was also a wheelchair-accessible room, which I did not need. So happy I stayed a second time, and will definitely be returning.
- 5/5
Everything was fine except for the extra parking fee.
- 5/5
Conveniently located in downtown walkable to all the hot spots. The security of having the building only accessible to guests is a comfort.
- 3/5
People hanging out outside the hotel by the parking lot like it was a park smoking weed not really good advertising. Kind of shady really.
- 4/5
Good location
- 5/5
Staff, breakfast and amenities was top notch.
- 1/5
Unorganized and unprofessional
- 5/5
It was clean and well kept and quiet. The price for two nights was a great price. No problem with checking in or out. What I really loved was the bed. It was the nicest bed I slept on. 10/10 would visit again and would recommend to anyone staying in the downtown area.
- 5/5
The woman who checked me in was wonderful. Helpful, efficient, funny and very nice. She was nice to look at too.
- 4/5
Uneventful— just the way I like things
- 5/5
Liked that it was an easy walk to Chase Stadium. Also liked the pool area. The morning continental breakfast was very good. Room older but very clean and bed was also very comfortable.
- 4/5
Front desk was great
