The Islander is a great place to stay for some much needed beach time. Convenient to Myrtle Beach, but so much quieter.

We had a great time being right on the beach. The balcony was our favorite place to go in the morning or night. The view was spectacular. A very convenient location for beach access.

View was good but location of elevator was difficult for me because of my disability. The location of the elevator was helpful because of my disability in that it was close to getting on/off the elevator. A better smell in the drawers, a cleaner room, more comfortable beds, cleaner room in general

Location and the lady working the desk after hours on the first night stay. She was super helpful and very nice. Also the lady working the desk at checkout she was super nice. Bedding was filthy had to get clean sheets our self and replace before we could sleep. The bedding had hairs and food in them from previous tenants (Nasty). They do not allow digital credit cards for booking had to cancel and rebook with my actual card which put your information at risk. Not happy with stay.

Beach view is a true beach view. Decent room for the cost. Everything in room worked. Plenty of parking. Check-in & check-out very simple. Room was small if more than 1 staying more than a night or two and a tad dated. Everything..ice machine, pool, elevator, breakfast, path to beach…was at the lobby in building cluster 1. If you’re in clusters 4 5,or 6…it’s a nice walk. Should have put office and all in the center. Try to get a room in the first 3 clusters. Breakfast was basically same as most low budget hotels…not worth the long walk. Many places around to get a coffee and pastries.

Easy access to beach and other properties at Ocean Isle. Clean. On site bar and continental breakfast.

Location is wonderful. Ocean view was beautiful from our balcony with an easy walk out to the beach. Pool is great but closes too early. Would be nice to hang out by the pool at night, especially if the bar was open later. Our room was conveniently located and easy to access. Ample parking. Only major negative was the smell of cigarette smoke every time we went out on our balcony and walking to our car.

Overall the room was clean and the bed comfortable. We enjoyed time on the beach and at the pool and pool bar was great. The pool area has no shade. This facility is walkable to the pier, park, ice cream, several restaurants, shopping and grocery. We would stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.

The doors between each building made it very difficult getting your luggage and the carts from building to building, doors were heavy and made it difficult to pass thru with groceries or arms full of items we brought with us.

It was a nice spot. The hotel was clean and the room looked updated. Breakfast was free and it was ok. The pool was nice and the bartender was very good and enjoyable to speak to. My mattress was old and the springs were worn out. It created a pit that I rolled into all night.

We did not use the pools but they appeared clean and others were using. The hot tub was not usable but we wouldn’t have used it. The view was great and a short walk to the beach. Overall it was a good stay and we would stay here again.

Everything.. the rooms was big and clean, breakfast was good, the location was perfect. We will definitely stay there again That it only had 1 slow elevator so if you was from building 3 over you had a long walk and several outdoor doors to open to get to the elevator.. it's ok for those that can walk steps easily but when you have disabilities with back issues it sure made it difficult

This was my second time visiting this hotel. Absolutely love!! Great quiet location, many amenities and great staff. Very clean room with an amazing view. Love all the stairs and breezeways. Definitely recommend and will visit again.

What would we like to build property? Is you step outside and you’re at the pool and in seconds you’re walking on the beach. The bathroom renovation that they did in the fall of ‘25 was very sloppy. One Wool was painted blue behind the bed and they were blue spots on the white ceiling whomever painted dropped paint on the vanity door, knobs side of the air conditioner and other areas.

This was my 1st. trip to Ocean Isle and it was Very Nice and Beautiful ! The weather was fantastic, i did not want to leave. The Staff was very nice and helpful, and that means a lot! The Islander Inn is a great place to stay , i'll be back one day to stay again.

I love the location… We’ve been coming for years, but the property is in desperate need for renovations. The air conditioning in the room is so loud it’s hard to sleep (plus it leaks), pillows and towels are uncomfortable, and this time around the hot tub is closed indefinitely. They do need to invest in the property ASAP.

Breakfast was great, they accommodated my special request for a room closer to the office so my mother did not have to walk to far, room was clean I would suggest a sweeper or broom in the rooms to help with sand. No matter how much you try to not bring it in the room it still gets there.... Hot tub was not in use.....

The hot tub wasn't working during our stay, but the tiki hut was open and we enjoyed a nice drink sitting by the pool.

Our stay at the Islander Inn couldn't have gone better. The staff was so friendly and even offered us suggestions on good places to eat. We also did not have a fork to eat our leftovers from dinner and the staff provided us with some plastic silverware. The room was very clean and we had a beautiful view of the ocean. There were lots of options provided at their continental breakfast. We highly recommend.

A small, nicely run hotel. We had a room with a balcony looking out over the ocean and left our door open at night so we could hear the ocean. Lovely! Room was very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that because the property is an older one, I could hear my neighbors next door. They had loud kids!!! That said, they were quiet by 11:00 pm. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Oh, and the breakfasts are very limited—cereal, waffles, yogurt, some fruit, bagels, bread, etc.—but okay. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a family-run beachfront hotel. For my part, I love it!

We checked in and were notified that the hot tub didn’t work, not that that mattered because we weren’t going to use it, but just informational; and also had issues with the television. The channels were fuzzy, and the channels kept going out. The only thing we could watch was one show over and over again. The staff said it would be back on, but it never did come back. I stated the repair man never showed up.

Hotel was nice, basic place. Hot tub wasn’t working, and the beds aren’t that comfy but the breakfast was good. The elevators worked and the view was stunning.

Very basic accommodations, but staff friendly and room very clean

In the years since I had last visited, the property has aged significantly. While the room was relatively clean (with the exception of sand on the floor), the rest of the hotel was average at best. The worst part is the noise! Our room had locked adjoining doors on both sides. These might as well have been made of tissue paper. We could hear every conversation and every move our neighbors on both sides made. We barely slept. I realize you get what you pay for, but we got much less.

The one thing that i did not like or appreciate was the fire alarm went off at 5:35 am.

My room was super clean, all the amenities operated perfect. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. Overcast and rainy, but had a lovely sunset. The one thing that i did not like or appreciate was the fire alarm went off at 5:35 am.

Hot tub wasn't working and the indoor pool was very cold. We thought it would be heated. Breakfast was very good. Since the hotel is condo style on stilts, there is some stair climbing involved if you don't want to use the elevator.

This was a family gathering for a funeral with all ages in attendance. There was plenty of room for everyone to hang out. The kids of all ages enjoyed the game room. The hot tub was warm and inviting. Downtown was an easy walk. Great stay.

Clean room, hot tub was in operable but understand repairs need to happen. Breakfast was good for my 15 year old. This was our second stay. The last was 5 years ago and it was just as nice. We will be back.

Clean room, Staff was great!! Laurie was extremely helpful at the front desk when my husband left his cell phone. She had it overnighted the next day! Tim at the Tiki Bar was very nice and a breath of fresh air!! We will be back!!

I've stayed at the Islander Inn several times. Check in/ Check out staff are always very welcoming, helpful and pleasant! The location is great! Rooms are quiet. Balcony is spacious, I love it at OIB.

The inn is very nice. The room was very clean. The sheets were clean but stained. The staff was exceptional. Skip the breakfast if you can. Cereal, microwave biscuits, yogurt, and orange juice that was more like flavored water. Plus was they have a waffle maker which works for my husband. I would stay here again though.

Other than the waffles for breakfast, it was ok. Bagels were not fresh. Rooms are nice and very comfortable.

The beach access is so convenient and being walking distance to the town area made it so easy to find something fun to do. The room and facilities were well kept and comfortable

No it was horrible had to pay extra for service dog , then was argued with because the staff is unprofessional and doesnt want whats best to resolve the issues charing me 65 bucks for a dog that has papers 1. 2 they made me wake my kids up to move the room or woukd of been charged 150 bucks told me to ve out in 30 mins came back said ok id move then was told i had 10 mins ... wasnt even 10 mins passed when she said 30 mins , had ocean view which was nice id not said anything about the stay till they moved me too a room smelt like mold , dog urine etc. Parking lot view not the ocean and was charged more. Not a great experience for me . Room wasnt clean lots of dust hair in bathroom the list goes on.. id check else were before anyone waste there money . Pay little more to stay in higher end hotel , breakfast was 50/50 juice taste like water dont recommend.

The Islander Inn is one of my favorite places to stay on the Carolina coast. The staff are professional and yet, down-to-earth. The room was very clean, updated, and bright. Excellent place to stay with family or solo!

Bed is comfortable. Breakfast is ok, basic, not one that I would want to have every day. Once was enough. The view was the best about booking this room. Excellent, relaxing, beautiful. Personnel in general could be more approachable, friendly and professional. Not a lot of people workers even greeted me unless I initiated the greeting, with a smile on my face. It would be nice if they could be more welcoming to guests in general.

When booking for my son through booking .com there was no mention of an age restriction. He is an adult at 19 so I booked for him. He got there and they would not honor the reservation leaving him to sleep in a car. Thankfully another hotel in the area allowed him to reserve .

This is our 2nd time staying here and there were noticeable improvements like the new gate to the pool and new wooden fencing. The only issue was the mattress in our room. It was lumpy, squeaky and the bottom sheet kept coming off. Not a deal breaker, just start replacing your mattress.

Always a pleasure staying at this hotel it is clean and recently renovated. Nice accommodations that are beachfront and even the free continental breakfast is great. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for beachfront.

The view was great and the staff very helpful in recommendation for places to eat. The only issue that we had was that the outdoor pool and indoor pool were both closed -- one of the reasons that we picked this hotel was because of the indoor pool being that it was off season. The hotel should have let us know when we made reservations or given us a discount at least. The breakfast that was included was an added bonus

My biggest suggestion would be to place security "key in" abilities at each unit to access the hallways to the rooms. This way any non-guest would not be able to access the hallways. Thank you.

Cons: lady at front desk was not friendly and resented having to get out of her chair. No insulation between rooms..people in upstairs room could be heard stomping around at 11:00 at night. No black out blinds. This place has seen better days.

Staff was courteous. Rooms have zero noise privacy. Zero. Room is fine. Bathroom needs mold control. Price is prob right for the beachfront room, but don’t expect a nice hotel. (I would skip the breakfast. Nothing fresh except a waffle if you make it?)

Staff attitide could be improved. Refills of toilet papet without having to ask would have been nice. The same size TVs in all rooms would be an improvement. The railings on the balconies were loose. There was no laundry detergent to purchase. Our sheets and towels were stained, thankfully we always take our own.

The room was very clean and every staff member was friendly and helpful. Each morning, a deluxe continental breakfast is served in the breakfast room with plenty of options to suit everyone. The hot tub was clean and disinfected. Of course the ocean view was beautiful! There is adequate on-site parking, as well. Overall, an excellent choice.

Room nice but not well insulated. Lots of noise from hall and neighbors. Shower pressure and heat awesome. Breakfast good. Very clean. View and beach access very good. Lobby hard to locate after dark.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was minimal with limited selection. Breakfast area was clean. The layout of the facilities was very confusing. The room layout of the room was comfortable and roomy. We had to call maintenance because we couldn't get the door open to the outside deck area. The maintenance person came quickly and fixed the door. The bed was comfortable but squeaked.

Room was very clean, and no big complaints! What’s good: balcony facing the ocean, vinyl floor for sand control; in-room mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker; free breakfast. Not so good: a little funky looking decor; bed okay, not great; pillows uneven; breakfast not great—bagels old, milk not fresh, little variety; no hot water in bathroom sink but great in shower.

The front desk was so kind to me.

The place had its issues; our coffee maker and refrigerator were both not working. The towels and sheets need to be replaced. The view and breakfast were very good. The housekeeping were hard working and ice. Overall, not a bad place but would not stay there again for the above issues.

Paint splatters all over the floor and poor painted walls. Creaky floors. When the people above my room walked across the floor it sounded like they were in my room walking about. It made for an uncomfortable and lacking nights sleep. Had to walk through on building (house) to walk outside in rain to enter the next building. Towels were small and very poor quality and rough to the skin. Would not recommend.

Easy check in. Room was ready early which was such a bonus. Clean room. Clean breakfast area with a good variety of options.

Location and beach view were excellent. Staff members were responsive. Room was adequate but had faint odor. Mattresses were uncomfortable. Towels were thin, rough, frayed and stained. Interior of elevator was unfinished.

Cons: Washcloths and towels were practically unusable because of their roughness and wear. Badly need replacing! Thankfully I had brought one washcloth with me. The bathtub was over knee deep with no safety bars. Did not feel safe climbing in or out of the shower/tub. Many delicious pastries, waffle, fruit, yogurts (no sugar free) and cereal choices for breakfast. Need to add protein (boiled eggs?) even if a pastry item has to be eliminated for budget. For diabetics, a couple small pieces of sausage found in a biscuit is not sufficient protein and thrown-away biscuit is waste. Tv would not adjust to live local tv channels, only streaming, so we missed our favorite shows and evening news. Awakened around 7:30 on several mornings by very loud, laughing cleaning staff outside door. This old hotel is a favorite of many but updates drastically needed. Won't return.

It was perfect. Only downfall were the millions of gnats mid Sept which is apparently mating season. We couldn’t even open our balcony door at all. So having an oceanfront without a balcony was sad. For my husbands birthday too. Wont come mid Sept again but would love to come back and use the balcony and not be swarming with bugs!!! Everyone was nice

This is an old facility that they have painted over. It has mold and smells. My wife and I both got severe head aches and she was throwing up all night. We could only stay one night and had to leave because of it.

We had a beautiful view of the ocean. Front desk were very kind and helpful.

Room was nice, clean—no complaints there and my praises to the housekeeping staff. On the balcony there was an infestation of little black bugs that flew..no one in my family was able to enjoy the balcony and the view. They were outside near each door and the parking lot on the cars. The breakfast was great, the staff that helped with the breakfast was very nice and kept it very clean. Checkout wasn’t the best, manager was present and when I asked a question she snapped and said they couldn’t email me their policies. Probably won’t stay there again, staff at check in and check out aren’t very friendly and can be rude when asking a simple question.

Our room overall was nice and clean. The couch was pretty old and dirty. The pool bar was never open. Not even the weekend. Housekeeping was very nice

There were a few maintenance problems during our short stay but they were fixed quickly.

We checked in at 330pm. Got to the room and it had a sour smell. The mini fridge didnt work and the blinds were broken. We got our swim wear on and checked out the indoor pool where it smelled like rotten eggs. We checked out the hot tub and only one jet worked. We overlooked all this and went to get dinner. We got home around 8 and the noise was insane. The walls are paper thin and the adjoining room had a screaming baby. The room above us sounded like they were bowling. We heard everyone coming and going on the stairs. We waited till about 9 and then called the office to see if we could change rooms. They were fully booked so we decided to leave at 930 and checked out. We had booked a two night stay and only were there for 6 hours. We drove 5 hours each way for 6 hours. I called the next day to see if it was possible to get a refund for the second day. They said the manager would call me back. Its been two days with no call or refund. I would not recommend staying here. The pictures online make it look like a five star resort but in reality it hasnt been updated since the 80's.

We had a quick little getaway and it was everything we needed. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable.

Needs serious updating inside and the outside pool.

The hotel definitely is in need of renovations, it’s older and the pool needs to be resurfaced it has several spots where the concrete has broken up and can be unsafe. For smokers, you can either go to the Parking Garage or the beach. The elevator works but very slow and is infested with gnats. I’m a person who doesn’t like musty smells and I purchased air freshener and a citronella candle for the balcony. They need to spray for insect's, we ordered pizza to be delivered and the gnats were getting in our food.

We have stayed here several times and enjoyed the quiet and quaint hotel. However this time we found it lacking. The sheets felt like sandpaper and we could feel the springs in the mattress. This time we had a second story room and learned there is no sound proofing between the floors. It sounded like a herd of elephants above us till two am! There were a lot of little things like rusty toilets that need attention. I am sad to say unless there’s some upgrades we probably won’t be returning.

The only thing that wasn't great for us was the bed. We just couldn't get comfy. This could totally just be the preference we have for a bed, it was clean and that was most important.

Affordable beach front property. One building is dog friendly. A lot of families so it was a little loud but probably not in every room (we could hear through the adjoining door). It's a simple inn, right on the beach, no complaints. Breakfast is included- also very simple but a few "hot" options along with the standard yogurt and bagel selection. Shopping, dinning, and putt putt all very walkable (less than 1/2 mile) and good sidewalks.

Just what I wanted for a weekend away at ocean isle beach. Very convenient location and hotel was fine.

The Islander was okay for our short stay, but would not consider for a whole week. Too small, cramped parking, dated decor.

The property was found as advertised. The only hiccup was the elevator stopped working for a few hours and the haul up the stairs is difficult for elderly folks.

The one suggestion I have is that without offering umbrellas and/or lounge chairs for the beach, it would have been better had we known to reserve one prior to arriving. Without access to available umbrellas or lounge chairs, it definitely cut our time from enjoying the beach as we also had our three year old with us. Staff were extremely friendly! We would definitely book here again!

I liked the location

We were only there for two days, but the room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. Unlike some other places, the walk to the beach was short and easy. It did say on the website that there was a bar by the pool, and we saw the building, but it was not open while we were there. Just would have been nice to have notice it was not available. But, that is not going to keep us from coming back since I have already booked for a weekend in August.

So parking needs to have parking slots that are your designated parking spot or spots for a group . And brooms in the rooms!!!! Other than that totally worth the money.... Oh and free breakfast helps but not being able to bring food in your rooms when the kitchen is packed, not cool!!!! I will say ocean isle has rules like no other beach I have ever been to, dont spend or waste any money on any type of shelter but a shaboomy or umbrella bc nothing else is allowed...very picky choosy who they say anything to as well, which is not cool..if your going to have rules, it should be posted on their website and for everyone!!!! Need to be staying somewhere w beach access, if not pay to park and hardly anywhere to park due to all the developments!!!

Views, pool on premise (indoor & ourdoor), jacuzzi & easy of access to beach -- ALL GREAT. Parking is tight and set up somewhat odd. I don't really know how to explain it. Rooms are clean & tidy

Great ocean front hotel!

Very clean place but

We loved everything about the Islander Inn, except the beds were terrible. Both indoor and outdoor pools were great. We loved the pool having a view of the ocean and there were plenty of pool lounge chairs. The snack bar was a nice addition to the pool area. It was a wonderful place to stay and we would go back again. Hopefully they will improve their mattresses.

This was our second time staying at the islander but our first time with an ocean front room. The balcony and ocean view was DEFINITELY worth the price alone. The rooms were clean and AC worked well during a giant heat wave. My only criticism was that the rooms are very inconsistent and you never know what you’ll get. The first time we stayed here we had a Roku TV that we could log into streaming on and a freezer compartment in our mini fridge for cooler ice packs. This time we were surprised when we checked in and had neither. We made do without them but it would’ve been nice to know what we were getting and we paid more this time so I expected the same amenities. Overall I would stay again but I will double check on individual room details before check in.

The Inlander Inn staff can not be beat. From the folks at the front desk to the bartender at the bar, everyone was very friendly. It would be nice to have the gate to the pool from the hotel be fixed. I thought I would break it when opening or closing it. The pool got very cloudy by the last day we were there. It could have used a chlorine shock. These are not deal breakers in my book. We'll be coming back.

Ocean front. Close to the pier. Friendly check in. Adequate parking. Nice room layout. Downside, beds weren't great. Walls are thin, but expected in a dated building.

Definitely felt like a beach hotel. Well used, utilitarian, but adequate since easy access to the beach was the main attraction. The two small pools were a good change of pace. Breakfast was only average. Traffic getting on and off the island was terrible, so not having a kitchenette is something to consider. All in all, would stay there again.

We had a great time visiting with my kids over a long weekend. The location is great, the staff is friendly.

It was just what it was supposed to be: Near ocean and beach, pool with a limited bar, close to town. What I was not so happy with was for the price, they could update their towels. They were horrible, scratchy. The breakfast, although it was nice to have it, they offer almost all carbs, hardly any protein or fruit. It could go a little later in the morning also.

We had a great stay! Breakfast was on point. Easy parking and access to the beach!

This property is old and tired! We heard our neighbors clearly. We don't feel like we got $300/night value for what we paid. The bed was terribly uncomfortable, and the furniture was well used! Amenities were bare bones. Free breakfast was barely edible. Just everything was minimal and below today's standards. Very disappointing!

We loved the ocean front location and our room with a view and balcony overlooking the beach. Everything was clean, comfortable, quiet, and attractive. We appreciated the breakfast and indoor and outdoor pools.

The property had all of the basic necessities I needed for a fun beach weekend! I had no problem with my parking spaces. The rooms were well appointed with everything I needed. The property is clean and the area is safe. Quite little niche tucked away off the main strip. It felt very private on this beach. Walkable to all the fun and restaurants!

Room was clean, beds were comfortable only thing missing was a beach view, but I knew this when I booked the room. Room was reasonably priced.

I liked that I could walk right out to the beach. It was a rainy week we were there but there's no way to predict that. Would come back again.

The room was not as nice as shown on the web site. Bathroom door needed planing. It had to be shut hard to close thus waking people up when going to bathroom at night. TV cable was lousy at best. Fan on AC had one low speed. No blackout curtains. Had doors adjacent to other rooms and thus could hear people in the adjacent rooms. Book at own risk.

Elevator inoperative. Hauling luggage up and down 2 flights of stairs unacceptable. Had to walk thru 6 buildings to get to the ice machine. Towels skimpy and shabby. Pillows old and worn. No room service. Only had 2 hangers in closet. Thin walls, noisy. Same for noise from upstairs. Phone did not work .

Was my first time staying there. I was very impressed with the complex. The rooms were great. Nice breakfast available in the mornings. The walk to the beach and two pools indoor and outdoor and adjoining rooms. It was everything that I look for in a vacation spot!

I would recommend for a short term stay. It is dated but our room was clean. The staff was nice enough to call us after they received our reservation to tell us the elevator was out of order, we stayed anyway. Beautiful view, close to the beach, nice pool. Basic but served our two day, two night stay.

As a solo traveler, I often look for a place to stay that is quiet, safe updated. The Islander Inn far exceed my expectations. The interior was freshly painted. The layout was open and clean. I enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. I felt very safe walking on the beach before the sun rose and after the sun set. I will be staying at The Islander Inn the next time I visit Ocean Isle.

Great stay but would offer hot food to the continental breakfast, such as eggs, bacon, sausage, and biscuits.

Good for a night

Pretty average “motel like” property. Lots of renovations happening, fresh paint smell in most areas. Sloppy paint job left behind paint on floors and sideboards. Bathroom needed a better cleaning. Long hairs in the shower, on the walls and on the doorframe. Microwave is old and rusted. The space overall was nice and the walkout balcony was very nice to have. Felt a bit overpriced for the condition. Front desk attendant was pleasant.

This was a great experience right on the beach. The place was being renovated but was still very clean and the staff was very nice.

Very nice! Just wish the Jacuzzi was bigger. It was like an extra large bathtub.
