    I had to pay them to leave. Yes, there is an extra charge to check-out early and it's not small. I chose this hotel because they offered the best rate but their early check out fee ruined that distinction. And the fee was not disclosed until the desk clerk informed me about it as I tried to check out. I did not see it on Expedia. It was not mentioned when I checked in. Nothing was said until I was headed out their door to the airport at which time there weren't any options except to pay. The clerk fumbled with a poor explanation of the fee, said he didn't have authority to waive it and attributed it to the third party booking channel. The last second surprise really spoiled an otherwise good stay. The facility is rather nice. The breakfast was good with multiple options. The downtown location is convenient. The last second charge was the only negative thing but it was enough to earn a bad rating.

    Parking not included and cost $50 a day. $75 extra hold charge told about day of but released at check out. No parking and a $50 fee for valet for the day, but you have to be back before 12 if you want valet if not your 50 bucks is gone.

    Love the breakfasts and comfort. The beds are nice and my dog likes them. I don't have much to say. I think it was in my first stay that the shower head on the handheld did not look like it had been cleaned in eons. x_x I had to rely on weak stream from the main.

All plates and cutlery is plastic which is cheap but very unecological and unpleasant. Sweet juices from powder. One of the worst views from the room on a dirty roof, unable to open the window.     Parking was a major problem. It took 15 minutes to get your car and it cost $50 a night ($60 with tip). Since there were no local parking options, valet was the only way to go. I felt gouged.

    The only criticism I have is that they never came to clean my room. When I first checked in I was asked if I wanted it cleaned every day or every other day. I told them I was fine with every other day. The problem is that they never came in to clean, empty trash, refill the coffee station!

    The staff was great! The location was convenient to the Fox Theater, which is why I booked it. However, it’s on a very noisy street/location. My room faced the main street and I could hear everything through the window. If you’re a light sleeper, it will be a challenge.

    This is the second time I’ve stayed at this hotel. Staff is always friendly and helpful, rooms are spotless and incredibly quiet, breakfast offerings are extensive and excellent and coffee and tea service is available 24/7. I plan on staying there again in December.

    We were in a 3rd floor room. I believe we were level with the Dance Club next door. The club sounded like it was literally on the other side of the wall! It was so loud. I could hear the DJs muffled announcements. The club closed at 2 a.m! The bass beat lasted until 2 am. The hotel said there is nothing they could do as they tried "calling the police", complaining, etc. Of course it is a private business. You cannot call the police on them for being loud when it is a dance club. BUT what Hilton could do is not put people in the rooms where it is the loudest OR you could pay to have the loudest rooms sound-proofed. It is not the first time I have stayed in a hotel near a club, reception hall, or theater. The difference here is that Hilton did no sound proofing of the rooms AND then sells them to unsuspecting customers. I couldn't fall asleep until after 2 a.m. and then had to get up early. It was terrible. I am sure that was not the first time they had to give some unhappy customer that same, We've tried everything excuse. Of course, no refund was offered.

    The hotel is apparently recently remodeled and up to date with plenty of power plugs and usb plugs by bed headboard and working desk. The internet speed is a bit of slow and difficult for zoom talk. My room practically has now windows and phone signal was very weak. Breakfast is hot and quite decent , better than I excepted. Close to Bart station ( the reason I choose to stay here.

    The rooms are very comfortable and they have everything to make your stay enjoyable. They have a refrigerator, microwave, body lotion, hand soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, coffee maker, ice bucket and nice welcome message with your name on the screen when you arrive. They also have an amazing breakfast with a waffle maker. The staff is very friendly as well. I loved it!

    They were not able to provide us with proper parking. They did not respond to our messages. Even when Booking contacted them, they did not answer. When we arrived at the hotel, they claimed they had not received any calls or messages. However, we showed them the messages we had sent. After that, we contacted them through Booking, and they assured us that we would have free cancellation since they couldn’t provide parking. We also had to spend extra money to book another hotel for that night. In the end, they still charged us a cancellation fee. We were expecting better and tried our best to avoid this situation and any conflict. Be aware, if a hotel insists on a cancellation fee under these circumstances, it’s best to stay away.

    I used to come here quite a bit for the last year. I’ve never had a bad experience until this stay. The night auditor on 3-14 was incredibly rude to me. The card machine wasn’t reading my card for incidentals because it was after midnight and I had to ask her to manually enter my card number after calling my bank and having them verify no charges had come in. Otherwise the staff was nice enough. Another guest mentioned there were bed bugs. All in all I won’t be back.

    I loved my stay at the Hampton Inn Oakland Downtown-City Center. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room had everything I was looking for in a hotel room - comfortable bed, nice layout, good bathroom with lots of space and a good shower. The location was great - I loved being able to hop on the BART to head into SF or down to Hayward or east to Walnut Creek and it wasn't far from the charming Piedmont area either. I will be staying here again next time I am in town.

    There is no parking and we had to pay 50 dollars for one night parking. Also the front desk lady speaks broken English. I am not a native speaker myself but if you have an accent at least try to speak slower and louder because it's not easy to communicate.

    The hotel was very clean, nicely renovated, food delivery was easy because they are connected to Grubhub, and the staff was very friendly. But it isn’t in such a nice area. Parking is costly daily and there isn’t house keeping after 4pm. If you don’t care about seeing obscene things randomly this place is great. It doesn’t bother me. I would stay here again.     The hotel was very clean, nicely renovated, food delivery was easy because they are connected to Grubhub, and the staff was very friendly. But it isn’t in such a nice area. Parking is costly daily and there isn’t house keeping after 4pm. If you don’t care about seeing obscene things randomly this place is great. It doesn’t bother me. I would stay here again. Although it was more expensive than the hotel around the corner, Ramada, my colleagues stayed in.

    I selected this place for the free breakfast amenities, since traveling breakfast can be an expensive expense. I love the hot and cold options for breakfast. Of course downtown hotels have their cons, due to parking and having to pay. First time using Valet, and it was worth it. The only thing that was not addressed at check in, was how to function the lights in the bathroom - took a minute to realize it was key operated. I would address that to future guests. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for the off season.

    Loved the proximity to the BART, free breakfast and recent renovations. But, we stayed over a weekend and there was a nightclub there both nights. The eateries we saw were closed for the weekend but a quick look at the map looked like there may have been places nearby. We ended up going into the City or Berkeley to eat since we were there for Cal's Homecoming weekend. The body wash and conditioner were empty in our shower but other than that, the room was clean and modern.

    Where do I start. I booked this hotel months ago for July 3-7th and prepared for my stay..today is the 5th and I’m ready to go home! The experience of my stay here has been chaotic and inconvenient. Although the staff is friendly and that is the ONLY good thing I can say. On Thursday when I checked in, I was surprised when the clerk told me my deposit for my stay would be $300 and NOT $150 which I had confirmed TWICE before coming… problem number 1. On Friday, my key began not working due to their system being down or having maintenance issues which caused them to assign my room to another guest. I just woke up from a nap around 6ish and luckily I had the security latch open or the guest would have walked in on me half naked. I went downstairs to ask what was going on about that..(no clear answers, only apologies) they proceeded to tell me that the information was somehow erased so I had to be let into my room until that got fixed… problem number 2. Today, I walked into the lobby and was greeted and informed that I needed to do the check in process again 😒… which consist of charging me again for the room that is already currently pending on my account. THAT took the cake for me, my key card started to not work again. I will NEVER EVER stay at any Hilton owned hotels in my life again. This is absolutely ridiculous!

Rooms are modern and comfortable with plenty of USB outlets. It was very quiet for my two nights (Saturday/Sunday). Breakfast includes the standard Hampton/Hilton options. Staff is very friendly.

    Further, on initial check-in the desk person gave us a room that had not been cleaned or turned. Big hassle to request a refund/credit of some sort and we DEFINITELY deserve one. For your follow-up (if y'all even care): 2rooms, Jun6-10, GC Jeter). I paid with my AmericanExpress card I may go to them and holla about what happened to us. I had my four nieces visiting from out of town. Hampton Inn had several "red zone turnovers" on this one. If you need further corroboration of what I say I can provide it. Expedia, don't let them drag y'all down!

    found stains in the sheets and the soaps were empty. there was 3 big trash cans in the parking area taking up a spot. was a hassle to check in and charged way to much for a deposit

    I had a great time staying at the Inn. The staff was nice, the rooms are clean. I found plenty of food options within walking distance. My only, ONLY complaint is that the "city view" room I booked is just a room. Not a problem but if I had been salivating over a potential skyline I would've been hella disappointed. There is a window but there's no "city view". Besides that everything was absolutely lovely.

    One of the worst experiences at a hotel I have ever had. My room had electric shades that were broken and would not close. I didn't realize this until late at night after a 16 hour day of travel. It was uncomfortable because anyone on the street could see into the room and there was no way to block out the lights shining into my face all night. The next morning, I was offered a new room, but I had to leave before 7 am for an event and we weren't able to pack up everything and switch rooms by the time we got the new key. I was told I could do it when I got back. In the afternoon, I was contacted and told very rudely that they would be packing up the remaining items and relocatting our belongings. Well that didn't go over well because no one wants random staff to do that. After being yelled at, we finally came to an ammicable agreement. They promised to replace the shades and we stayed in our original room. I requested to speak to property management multiple times, but never got a call back. The lady who works the overnight shift was simply the rudest person I have ever met in the hospitality industry!! At checkout, she was in the corner sleeping. She informed me the manager didn't care and didn't deal with customer complaints and neither did she. Later,I was contacted by someone else and given credit for 1 night for my troubles. I found the hotel ok, breakfast was decent, it was clean, and many staff members were very nice. But the overall experience was awful. Never again!

    This hotel has bed bugs. We’ve been in and around hotels for a while so understand that this can happen, however the issue we have is that the hotel is not taking the issue seriously at all. The first night we found one in the room around midnight, and went down to the front desk to report it. They switched our room and offered us points, we then ran into some folks on their way up being checked into that floor. The next morning, in the new room we found three more bed bugs. Reported it to the front desk - they told us that they would have a manager call the next day. No manager called. I then called Hilton corporate - they said thanks for letting us know and that they’d filed a complaint. No request for any other information. Posting here since this is a public health issue and hotel management needs to take this seriously. If you’ve stayed here recently you must wash all of your sheets, clothes, and soft surfaces ASAP upon return

    We came to UC Berkeley as a family for my daughter's graduation ceremony. I made a reservation the day before so that we could check in at the hotel in the morning. However, since I did not check in the night before, we were told that the reservation was canceled and that there was no room at the hotel. We were in for a big shock. Although the problem was later resolved, we unfortunately started a beautiful day very nervously. The second unexpected surprise was the parking issue. A $50 parking fee was charged for one night. Although they said they would bring the car from the garage whenever needed, they gave us a strange argument that we had to get the car out of the garage before 9 the next morning because the garage was full. I do not plan on staying at a Hampton Inn again and have recommended the same to my friends.

    Convenient location to Oakland Chinatown and the BART. The rooms were very clean as a positive, but felt a little soul-less, the little attentions to detail are missed and this makes the property an okay stay but not one I'd rush to repeat. Not my first Hampton Inn, and overall I'm lukewarm on this one

    first, they double billed me for the room and am currently struggling to get it adjusted. Just try to reach a person. Needed to speak to someone about likely late arrivals; it took 30 minutes on hold to accomplish this. breakfast is good if you like lots of suger in everything.Otherwise, standard condition.

    Good value. Central location, close to BART for SF commute and various fun Oakland neighborhoods. Breakfast included. The gym has nice equipment. The valet parking is expensive but it's nice to have the car secure. This is our second time staying at this hotel, and we will continue to book here when in the area.

    I came for a business trip. I would recommend Hampton Inn Oakland on 11th Street and would stay again. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good. It was conveniently located 1 block from the BART station at 12th. My only complaint was when I asked for late checkout, the front desk said yes, but didn't communicate it to cleaning staff. Cleaning staff were banging on my door 30 minutes before late check out of noon while I was on the phone with a client. A plus is they just got liquor license and will sell beers in lobby soon. I loved how they carried water for a decent price and flaming hot cheetos.

    I liked that it was close to the marathon I ran. I did not like that the carpet was wet when we came into the room for the first time. Also, the toilet was clogged and since I stayed there on a Sunday I was told "maintenance was not available on weekends" so I asked to borrow a plunger. There was a plunger available but I was not able to unclog the toilet, so had to use the lobby restroom if I needed to. The lady at check in was also a bit rude as I asked to check out late on Sunday and she said it was not possible.

    We had to find another hotel as this place was scary and I was afraid to stay there. The parking was on the street and you needed to not leave valuables in vehicle, and GRAFFITI was Everywhere,. I was afraid for my life to stay there.

    Arrived in the middle of the day to find the front doors locked. After several attempts at hitting the buzzer, I was finally let in. It was ten minutes until 3 PM, and I was told since I wasn't a silver or gold member I would not be able to check in, even though my room was ready. At exactly 3 PM all of the people waiting in the lobby lined up to check-in with the one clerk on duty. When I got to my room, half of the lights and outlets, including everything in the bathroom did not work. When I was leaving to get dinner I told the clerk, who told me (for the first time) that you have to hold your key card up to a square in the room to get the lights to work. News to me. He told me if that didn't work, I would have to switch rooms since there was no maintenance person on duty until Wednesday. Got dinner, came back and tried the square. No change. I was so exhausted I decided to just stay in the room and deal with it. Then I took a shower and there was no conditioner in the bottle. Woke up before dawn and got ready in a half-dark room where half the plugs didn't work. Not a great stay.

    Hotel is clean and staff is friendly. But alas, paper thin walls you can here the person snoring next door from you, which is uncomfortable and makes it difficult to sleep.
