The perfect little family run motel to spend a laid back weekend at the beach!!

Very clean and well maintained.

Front desk was very friendly and helpful. Check in/out was very fast. Room was perfect for our two night stay and had everything me and my husband needed. Would definitely recommend to others. Location was around the beach, restaurants, and grocery stores. Overall great experience

Facility was clean but a little outdated. Soft soap at sink was definitely watered down. No shampoo or conditioner provided. No ice bucket or ice machine. Water pressure so low I could not get shampoo out of hair and my hair s short. No good restaurants close by

Great stay. I’m a great area right at the beach. Felt very very safe coming and going alone. Water is nice and hot and everything is clean. Definitely staying here again when we visit.

So cute and right by a beach access!

Nice, simple, affordable room. We were in the area for an overnight stay and this fit what we needed. It was a little further than I realized from where we were for our visit but that was my fault. With all said it was still worth the extra drive. We will be going back to the area again and this will be the place I check first.

I felt deceived be Expedia giving this sight a 9.2 rating. The room was very small and the sight was nothing fancy. We had an old time bed spread my grandma might have put on her bed. I’m in transition while I sell my house in Front Royal so I have been in many hotels. This one is more like a 6 or 7. I paid more for this room only because of the rating you gave it. I could have saved a lot by choosing a hotel with a 6 rating and would have been just as happy.

This place is a cozy gem! Fantastic if your tired from the road,& need to catch up on some Zzz's! Quiet rooms with excellent bed & bedding!! Very clean rooms, the owners are hard at work & accessible! Everything you need for a great stay! 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This little motel is close to the beach and very affordable (I was there off season). It was very clean and I slept so well. The courtyard is well-lit and that light makes it around the blackout curtains, but I had brought a sleeping mask so that was fine for me. I didn’t hear any of the other guests and the shower was very hot and great water pressure. I would love to come back here to stay longer. It was such a nice evening.

Everyone working and the owner was incredibly friendly. If you aren’t needing a ton of frills but cleanliness and a relaxed atmosphere is important to you, the Bay Inn is certainly the place for you. Walking distance to the beach and the whole place felt incredibly safe and quiet. 💯 would return.

They don't make hotels like this anymore. Husband and wife owes the hotel and they were very nice. No frills but quiet. I will stay here again. Queen size bed but had plenty of towels not like the bigger hotels that give you 2 towels for 2 people. that was nice.

The room was clean. The gentleman at the front was very friendly. Only downside was literally waiting 30 minutes to take a shower because that’s how long it took for the hot water.

Probably going to be hard to beat for the price. We just needed a place to sleep for the night. It was clean and had been updated inside the room. The hotel is what I would call a "retro" style. If you are expecting the modern multi level inside hotel, its not that. But seems to be in a decent neighborhood from what I could tell, and even though we weren't there for the beach, it is basically across the road. Ive seen reviews say the manager is difficult, but we had no issues. Again, for the price and location I would guess its hard to beat.

I chose the property based on the number of positive reviews. The place was very clean and quiet. I got a great night’s sleep for my round of golf the following day. I will definitely stay there whenever I’m in the area.

This is a recently renovated old style motel run by the owner operator. We had to find a place quickly for a family emergency and location and price were a factor. I will stay here again when I return to the area.

I only stayed one night, but my partner and I have no complaints. It was in an amazing location, right across from a beach. They had a hose outside of the rooms to spray yourself down which I thought was extra special. There are nearby stores and restaurants in walking distance. The rooms were spotless, I would've been happy to stay longer if I could.

The bed was weird. Whenever I moved around, the mattress somehow hit something underneath that thunked, so it sometimes was hard to fall asleep because of that. Otherwise, I felt safe, the rate was reasonable, and the room and bathroom were very nice! I plan on staying there again this summer.

The staff were very friendly! The room was very clean and I loved the courtyard. I emjoyed walking on the beaxh each day during my stay. I also enjoyed the fabulous public library just a block away.

My stay was great! A little skeptical at first but was at ease after meeting staff and seeing room. For the price I was expecting something a lil less than what I got. Area was nice and peaceful. Room was very accommodating and clean. Will look forward to staying again if or when I’m back in the area.

As noted by others, this is an older hotel but it has been well tended and is exceptionally clean and cared for. It's a short walk to the bay beach. It's a basic hotel room in a residential area. For the price and location, we were very pleased.

The outside looks a little outdated but inside the rooms are cozy and quite nice. It was the outside that concerned me. I walked to a nearby McDonald's and saw several sketchy individuals wandering around, one was screaming gibberish at a library window. When I walked to the beach (which is easy walking distance so that's a plus) another started following me until she realized I was watching her so she scurried off. The hotel was great, just keep your head on a swivel if you go for a walk.

We so enjoyed out stay here. The room was clean, and fresh. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The parking was safe. This place is small, but it was so relaxing and nice. It was close to a park on the ocean side, so you only had to walk over the dunes, and the beach was there to walk on.

When traveling to the Norfolk/Virginia Beach this is my go to place to stay. Price ias always reasonable, even during the summer. I can always expect a quiet nights sleep. This property is not for those who wish to party all night.

This is the second time we've stayed at the Bay Inn and we will be back. The rooms/amenities are minimal, but clean and affordable, and it's right across Ocean View from the beach. It's a great spot to relax. Plus the owners are very friendly! The only (minor) issue was a slight chemical smell in the room.

The Bay Inn was perfect for what we were looking for. Beach access within a short walk of a block or so. The rooms are small and basic by today’s standards. This is an older motel that has been remodeled. Everything worked as we needed it though. It was a clean, pleasant place to spend the night.

It's been our experience in the past that these small refrigerators just barely keep food cold, so this was grear. The courtyard was nice too, although we didn't sit outside.

It was pleasant if not extraordinary. The gentleman at check in desk was mildly rude and short with me in check in and check out. A free continental breakfast or free muffin and juice would have been nice. Loud voices in courtyard just feet from my room kept me awake late into the night. A sign to let visitors know that is inappropriate would have been good.

Decided on a whim to do a fishing trip to Ocean View Pier. The Bay Inn came up as close and the price was right. Room was clean, very quiet, cute interior courtyard, and perfect location. Will always check here for availability before any trip to Norfolk

convenient, close to the beach price

Really displeased with my checkout- since I'm using a hotel because I'm out of town, I used my last 30 minutes to figure out where I needed to go, the best route, etc. Precisely at 11 am, there was a very hard knock at my door. I opened it, and there was a man just leaving- I didn't know initially what it was about, so when I looked confused at him, he pointed at his watch and said, "checkout is at 11." While he has a point, I thought he could have handled it in a much more polite and courteous way- how did he know I wasn't having an emergency? I've stayed in a lot of hotels, and this was the rudest experience I've had- the inn itself is clean, but this left a really bad taste in my mouth. I will definitely not stay here again, and would not recommend it to others.

This was my second time staying at the Bay Inn, and it is a pretty little hotel with a hidden courtyard that is conveniently located near the beach and for me, near my family who live in the area. The rooms look out on the lovely courtyard, which has outdoor seating. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are extremely clean and have all the amenities I want: fridge, microwave, coffee/tea machine, a blow dryer and an iron. It is cozy and I have enjoyed staying there and I plan to visit again soon.

First visit--this really is a gem at the price. Old building but very well maintained and some modern touches--like a bathroom mirror so high tech I'm a little scared of it :-). Fridge is big enough to be useful and freezer works. Everything is clean, check-in and parking are convenient, courtyard is sheltered and has chairs, wifi is reliable, everything works. The neighborhood behind is a bonus: old homes with kids playing everywhere, looks potentially great for getting some exercise away from traffic. Bed is modern and comfy. More than adequately powerful heat/AC blows right on the bed: I know some people don't like that but there's no other way it can be with the building design--and there's a heatwave on and I'm grateful for it.

It was easy enough checking in and out, it was a nice, clean room as described: microwave oven, iron and board, and mini-fridge included. It was affordable and honestly everything was better than expected especially considering its close access to the water. It's central to the area, not too out of the way and offers a private inner courtyard which was nice.The owners/staff were very accommodating, informative and friendly. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be sure to book again!

I stayed at this cute place for three nights while visiting family for my sister’s funeral. It was the perfect escape from the sad situation when I needed ‘alone time’ and I got a great night’s sleep throughout thanks to the clean, comfortable, quiet, hospitable environment. The room had everything I needed and was simultaneously modern and quaint. Spotlessly clean. Super friendly proprietor. I honestly couldn’t believe the reasonable price I paid. Highly recommend.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The air conditioner was a bit noisy, but other than that everything was great. Bed was comfortable, manager was very friendly and helpful.

Well kept rooms. Recently remodeled. For a simple typical motel room a/c, this one was the quietest of my entire cross country trip. And did I say clean?

This property was great! The room was clean and nice! It also had the right amount of space. It was a block or so from the ocean which was nice since you didn’t have to drive. Close to local eateries and was a great price! It’s also only 30 minutes from Virginia Beach if you wanted to go down there. Definitely would stay here again. Quiet and all around more our atmosphere compared to VB. Plus the price is amazing. Now will just have to find a place to bring our pup next time since this place does not accept dogs at the moment.

If you are looking for a Hollywood movie hotel with bell service and elegance this is not it. If you want an amazing stay in an area that isn't overhyped or too touristy than this is the place to be. My stay there was a romantic getaway for my love Samantha. She lives in Colorado and has never been to Virginia. We stayed from Friday evening through Monday morning. I'm not going to play koi or innocent... I did what every man does when staying in such establishments. I tested the bed with rapid ciolent movements to check for noise. The building is older but don't let it fool you. A quaint 60's era motel that is remodeled and up to date inside with the outside feel of a 1960s mom and pop motel. This is going to be my permanent stop when visiting Norfolk. Nick and his wife are great. The Bay Inn is a family run business and you're treated like family when you stay here. Nick let me know if there were any problems on the property just let him know and he would take care of it. But I never had any problems. We stayed 5 days and wouldn't have had a problem staying 5 more. Nick, it was great meeting you and your wife and I can't wait until we come back to Norfolk to visit again!!

Very reasonably priced & quiet. Older motel that’s been spruced up a bit. Room was clean with a lovely grassy courtyard in the middle of the motel. Beach a couple minutes walk. Harris Teeter grocery store 3 short blocks away. Quick response & super friendly staff. Definitely would stay again.

We arrived just before the front desk closes for the evening. We were traveling for a funeral and this was approximately halfway on our trip. We chose it because it had fabulous reviews and a great price. I would definitely stay there again and visit the beach if it was a pleasure trip. The gentleman and his wife who checked us in were very nice, they had a power outage right as we were ready to check in, but they were able to give us our keys and ask us if we needed a flashlight. Fortunately, the power came back on very quickly. The room was clean, not anything fancy, but comfortable and had everything we needed. The courtyard is beautiful, and I would’ve loved to spend some time there. They were growing vegetables, which I thought was a very cool addition. All in all a great place to stay!
