Garage parking is convenient. However our room TV did not work and is situated in an awkward format. There was wig hair found all over the room. And the temperature of the room was not consistent. We were gone most of the day and when we returned the room would be in the mid 70s when coming off a hot baseball tournament you would hope you can come back to a room that you set the temp to 70 on.

1st class staff at front desk. I always receive a warm and welcoming greeting and they provided any information requested with a smile. However the room was clean but dingy, outdated, dark and gloomy. I hated being in the room but the lounge lacked an inviting sitting area and the pool water was too dirty to swim in. The breakfast bar was okay.The location was also okay. This hotel definitely did not meet the standards for the amount paid and being part of Marriott chain.

I picked this property to be close to ODU and to take my kids swimming. The pool was freezing and the staff had no answer as why it was so cold. I didnt see anyone get in the pool during our stay.

Debbie at the front desk was enormously helpful! However, pool (advertised) was out of service. Blindsided by $13 and change per day parking, buried in "parking available" plus Expedia popups. The latter soured what could have been a superior stay.

I had three rooms I paid for one from 4th to 9th and two from 6 to 8th. This was a lot the pool did not work one day. maintenance gave ever excuse but not realizing that people with children this is one of the most important thing. Towels were not brought had to keep asking for them. Three major great people that helped Richard and daytime later wears ponytail african american older woman trued what they could. Treat guest right and they will return and reservation cancelled after one day for friends who came for my wedding because of clinche they had to find another hotel. I was very about that. Not a very good trip very sad a

Breakfast was good. We were going to a concert at the Chartway Arena, which was right across the street. The staff was great. The room was quiet. There was a small kitchen-like area with a larger-than-usual hotel-sized refrigerator. I had booked a room with a king bed and a sofa sleeper. The bed was not a king. It was a full or queen-sized bed. The shower was weird. It was a walk-in, but the curtain didn't go down all the way. The grout was old and dingy.

The hotel is located across from the ODU campus and has several places to eat that are walking distance. Plus it was a short drive to the fishing pier and beach.

Only thing we liked was the location! Pool was closed, we didn't even see a Hot Tub but its still shown in the listing pictures! Beds were not comfortable! Price was definitely super high for what we got!

The location for the arena across the street. Room was big and spacious The sports bar needed to have more staff and better management. Organization in the kitchen… chicken was frozen and couldn’t be ordered.

I would’ve liked the location since I had tickets to a concert at the chartway arena, right next door…But 2 hours before I was to check in, my reservation was cancelled. I didn’t like that my reservation was cancelled 2 hours before my arrival and another reservation was booked for me. Saying it was a nearby hotel…25 minutes is not nearby, Springhill is nearby. Nobody in my party was able to get freshened up at the hotel room before the concert. We were all coming from 5-7 hours away. No explanation given. Despite my reservation have been made for months.

The employees were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was standard, and fresh. I didn’t require parking, but there was a parking garage. It is located in the middle of a college, and walkable to restaurants, and gas stations. Overall a decent hotel, except for the mattress in my room.

Breakfast was good and the service was great and I really appreciated the helpfulness of the staff. I stay there because it is close to family and friends and I have not had a bad stay yet! If paying more taxes maybe offer free parking during part of your stay. Not an issue just a recommendation.

The property is located in an excellent location. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Hotel is very well maintained and the room was kept spotless.

The staff were the best! Friendly, smiling and willing to assist in any way possible.It was lovely to have an actual "sitting" area in our room. We were able to figure out how to use the TV, which is a challenge as so many other places use streaming services only. It would be awesome if the TV had been on a swivel base though. The shower was roomy with shampoo/conditioner and shower gel. The toilet area, however, was very crowded.

The staff is, mostly, very sweet and helpful. They try to quickly honor requests for stuff like more toilet paper or a repair to a clogged sink. Housekeeping is every other day, which is fine. The first time, whoever did the room did a fabulous job: everything was tidy and sparkling. The next time it was disappointing: there were fresh towels but no restocked toilet paper or toiletries, surfaces weren’t wiped down, and the bed wasn’t even made! To me, the bed being made is standard for a chain hotel, so I was surprised. The inconsistency made me wonder about the quality of the training for the housekeeping staff. The oddest thing about this hotel is that the label “Suites” doesn’t really fit. Something like “Semi-Suites” would be more fitting. Unlike any other chain hotel I’ve ever stayed in with “Suites” in the name, the little kitchen area isn’t stocked at all. No tableware, cutlery, paper towels, sponge, dish soap. Instead, it basically has the stuff almost all chain hotel rooms have: a little fridge, a little microwave, and a little coffeemaker. Overall, I’d say if you’re not concerned about having a usable kitchen area, this is a pretty nice hotel to stay in. It’s clean, comfortable and has a relaxed, welcoming vibe.

The thermostat had to be changed as the heat was not working. The wifi was non-existent in the room. This was VERY inconvenient. Was told a service ticket was out in and never got a response after that. Charged 2 incidental charges? No hot tub at this location and the food was small. The breakfast was not that great either. Should be more hot options.

Very nice in Good repair. Was there room to improve yea. In the pool area there were cracks and loose tile. Overall they did not distract from my stay or use of the pool. Behind the main desk was a burned out outlet visible to people checking on and out. Perhaps a portable heater had been used but it is easy fix and is a future Fire hazard.

It smelled of marijuana on the entire 4th floor, the rooms were way smaller than shown in the pictures and it was much older too. For the price per night, it seems we just paid for the brand name.

Difficulty keeping the room keys set. The first time we attempted to use the keys, they gave us the wrong room key on the wrong floor (their words), then it was messed up again by the time we unloaded the luggage cart. Plus again the next morning.

The staff at breakfast was great and refilled utensils as soon as we asked. Super friendly. Couch had a stain on the cushion which we turned over and there were dead bugs in the lamp shade.

On top of the room charge they also charge $13 extra to park your vehicle in the public parking garage across the street. The hotel lobby seemed really nice and then when you enter the hallway the hotel is very dated, worn out stained carpet. That theme continues into the room. The Sports Bar connected to the hotel was okay. The staff were lacking in customer service. The cost of our stay did not meet our expectations.

Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was very good the first morning. Very convenient to ODU. Had to pay for parking. Breakfast the 2nd morning was late getting started, and the eggs and sausage/bacon wasn't out by the time I had to leave at 7:00. Shampoo and body wash bottles in the bathroom were both empty, and no personal size bottles were provided. Internet kept disconnecting about once every half hour. I had to reconnect manually each time. The "Guide" button on the TV worked but sometimes it displayed the previous day's listings.

Olivia, of the staff was exceptional. The only complaint is the length of time it took to get hot water at the bathroom sink.

We were there for a concert, hotel was located just across the street. Beds were super firm, sofa bed didn't have any linens, had to ask for them, worst part was the hair all over the shower.

Comfort and convenience Location

It was convenient location in a pleasant neighborhood. Breakfast was tasty and a nice selection of food. Elevators were very prompt upon pressing the button. The front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. I did not like having to pay for daily parking in the garage across from the hotel. The hot/cold water taps at the sink and in the shower were reversed. The thermostat was hidden behind the TV, making it quite difficult to regulate the temperature in our room. Both of the beds were sloppily made upon our arrival….one of the mattress pads was hanging out beyond the sheets, and the other bed’s bottom sheet had not been pulled down over the mattress,exposing the mattress itself along the top left side of the bed. Also, the kit for the pullout bed contained only one pillow and only the bottom sheet was in the kit….no top sheet. And lastly, at one point I tried to open the hotel door facing Hampton Blvd, with my room card, as instructed, without getting the door to unlock. I ended up walking around to the main entrance.

The sofa had stains/spills all over the cushions. No bedding was in the room for the sofa bed. The sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable. One of the pillowcases on the queen bed had a black spot on it.

The hotel room had a musty smell and felt very old. The room was so oddly shaped that it was difficult to see the tv from the beds. The water pressure in the shower was horrible. Pictures on the website show a hot tub, but there isn’t one.

Very conveinent to the next door concert. Easy and close parking. Smooth check in/check out process. Loved the hotel restaurant/bar. Only dislike was that the bathroom didn’t have a sink, it was outside the room. I like my privacy.

my family and I for almost a week. Housekeeping is suppose to clean every other day. I had to get my own towel from the front desk everyday. Shower was falling apart. Room smelled like smoke and its a none smoking hotel. TV remote barely worked. I was very displeased with the room. Staff at the front was nice. Not sure if I would come back.

The staff was excellent in a respects. The rooms were clean and adequate for our purposes. The location, next to ODU, was good for us as our daughter was in grad school there. The restaurant come in handy for good, quick meals.

The hotel and room was very nice. Food was good in the restaurant and the morning breakfast. Staff was absolutely wonderful. Only downside was that the pool was very warm, almost like a hot tub. Otherwise wonderful stay!

The reservation was for 6, but only had 4 towels despite calling ahead twice. Our room appeared to have not been cleaned properly prior to our stay, our kids found both trash cans full of used beer cans.

This was a very average hotel. Could use updates and a deep cleaning. Someone was yelling in front of the hotel for a half hour in the middle of the night, which was ridiculous and should have been dealt with. Noise from the hallway also comes right in the room. My husband and I stayed on this property to see a comedy show at the Chartway Arena, which is across the street from the property. The TV never worked right in my room (#224). A technician spent some time with it but apparently gave up because he never came back. The remote didn't work well and the TV was missing a bunch of channels. I'm sure the next person (or persons) who stay in the room will also complain about it because it certainly is not fixed.

Check in was very quick and friendly. Hotel was clean in the lobby, but the bed we slept on had blood stains on the side. One elevator was not functioning so checkout in the morning took a while because everyone was waiting for the single elevator. We ate at the hotel restaurant while we stayed. Service was very slow even though we were the only people there. Kitchen staff kept coming out to watch sports on the TV instead of quickly cooking our order. Breakfast was very good, although they ran out of eggs immediately when we sat down and it took a good 20 minutes for the cook to refill the station. I have stayed at better hotels but also worse. So it's just kind of average. Next trip, we will be staying at another hotel.

Check in was very quick and friendly. Hotel was clean in the lobby, but the bed we slept on had blood stains on the side. One elevator was not functioning so checkout in the morning took a while because everyone was waiting for the single elevator. We ate at the hotel restaurant while we stayed. Service was very slow even though we were the only people there. Kitchen staff kept coming out to watch sports on the TV instead of quickly cooking our order. Talked with the front desk on my way out. There was a weird noise that woke me up in the middle of the night. It sounded like it was in the hallway but after further investigation it was something with the bathroom pipes.

The bed was very comfortable. I could adjust the CAC to my personal comfort. Good choice of channels on the TV. No problem getting my laptop online. Gym is small but has a decent selection of cardio and weight equipment. Good array of food at the breakfast buffet. There is street noise in the morning if your room is on the Hampton Blvd. side.

This Marriot Hotel is a typical inner-city College area hotel. All room amenities are average BUT no clock or radio and minimal/cheap coffee maker (must get stolen). Has a small kitchen sink but no dish towels or paper towels. Only two SMALL glasses in cabinet. WHY HAVE THE CABINET....just empty space. Other than close to ODU (across street) no recommendations for staying there. Room layout was CRAMPED with their effort to make sitting area separate from beds. Maybe HIGHER PRICED rooms are better.

It was amazing the staff was wonderful, helping us locate the therostat, for heat on time when we call for wash cloth never no long wait even checking in wverything was nice even the contnential breakfast .

Room appears run down, stains on walls and ceilings. Shower had warm water, not hot. Hotel desk said that’s the best it will get. Walls were thin, noises from the room next door.

Hotel does not offer "standard " amenities. No creamer/sugar/stirrer for coffee in room. Only 2 cups for coffee, none for water, brushing teeth, etc. No hair dryer. Room was neat and clean just a little aged. Comfortable beds.

Very friendly staff, great location to the university

Some items in the room did not work like light bulbs had not been changed. Also, the pool was closed for repairs. But otherwise, it was a good place to stay and very clean and service was good.

TV would pause very frequently when trying to stream a movie in our room. Made it unwatchable.

Property is just a bit rundown. Could use a refresh. Service was very good.

Had no coffee in the room, no sheets for pull out and the pillows were pretty bad

Hotel property was nice. Checked in at 3pm and unpacked and went to dinner. Came back at 11 pm and as we were getting into bed found bedbug in bed. Took one to front desk and staff at desk acknowledged what it was and moved us to another room. Was told manager would call us in morning. Never got call. Sent another message to them and got a email stating that they take these seriously and will investigate. Never asking about us! We were worried entire trip that we had bugs in our luggage or clothes. No compassion by front desk leader about our stuff or our worries.

The hotel itself is a bit dated, not the cleanest, but perfect for my purpose of being close to ODU campus. Staff was VERY polite and accommodating.

The breakfast at the hotel ends at 9:30am. This is very early for someone who is traveling. I think that a more reasonable and realistic time is 10:30am. I heard some of the others at the hotel complaining about this as well. If you don’t want to serve breakfast don’t. This type of behavior leads me to believe that you really do not want to serve breakfast.

The hotels business center is 2 outdated computers in the corner of the dining room. This is not a convenient way to conduct business. The computer has Windows 8 as an operating system. Upgrades and updates to the computers are needed. I was surprised that a hotel that is located in the midst of a college campus, has outdated computers.

Overall nice place for one night stay. Clean room. Air conditioner a little loud but manageable. There was nobody at the desk for checkout at 5:50am (there was a sign that they would be back soon) but we couldn’t wait so left the keys on the desk without problems.

I liked the fast, friendly service, checking in was a breeze! It was a nice weekend getaway for some quiet relaxation time.

The shower didn’t have hot water but they were able to fix that problem. They ran out of breakfast before 9:00 and the hot water tasted like coffee when I tried to make hot tea and it was slightly warm.
