    This is a spectacular little boutique hotel in downtown Norfolk. The location is great for walking to the theater and the water district. There’s dining everywhere. The biggest bonus is the glass art museum that’s included with your stay.

    This place was better than expected. Better than the pictures. CLEAN, super bright hallways and decor. Staff was FANTASTIC and went, in my opinion, above and beyond. Would ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND and would stay again. Hailey at the front desk provided us with outstanding guest service and the manager on her shift (forgive me for not recalling your name) She was ALSO gave us phenomenal gest services as well. Very pleased with the friendly, kind staff on all the nights of our stay. Gooooood JOB!!! Nothing not to like. Would stay here always if needed. Great rooms and bright, modern, CHEERY decor!!

The bar on the ground level has a nice cocktail menu and the bartenders were very hospitable. Will definitely stay again when visiting Norfolk.

    We had a very bumpy start where our double-queen room was not ready when we arrived (admittedly we were apparently early at noontime but never had issues like this with other places). We were told that we would be called when it was ready but 5 hours later and nothing even after standing in the lobby, until a manager noticed we were there and asked how we were. She then got us a room quickly. Other than that the staff and room were excellent. We ate one night at the restaurant. It was delicious but quite pricey. For the price we would stay again but would make sure to be a **little** (read respectfully) assertive if the room was not ready at arrival

    The moment we pulled up we were greeted with the the most friendly vallet attendant. The front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful as well as we were not sure where to park the car at first but one phone call to the front desk aa she noticed us parked and assured us we were in the right spot. The check-in was easy. We were given our keycards and we went up to our room on the 7th floor. The rooms was very clean and spacious. I always like to look around the room before unpacking. I did have to request for some fresh sheets as one the beds sheets had stains. They brought them up within a few minutes later. As i was about to place the new ones on i noticed stains on those as well. I just gave up and slept ontop of the clean comforter. The shower/bathroom area was nice. The room itself was nice and bright with all the modern touches. We did not use the gym.

    The room was missing a chair for the "desk" and the table for the rocker chair. The room was not cleaned by housekeeping any of the 4 nights we stayed although we requested it. They gave us new towels -by our request and we had to ask for toilet paper. The room was also very dark and limited lighting for a hotel named Glass Light. The location is fantastic and the bar is great. Just don't stay there. Valet is a mess too. It was just so disappointing as Marriott Silver patron and frequent traveler.

    The room size and the bathroom size was nice as was the view. The Illy coffee. The window blinds. Difficult to roll down and up...and so noisy. The sundries. The smell is like a cheap boys body spray, and the body gel wash and hand was were the same fragance. The bed was too soft and we both awoke with sore backs.

    The heat in our room did not work properly. At check in the heat was off and the temp was 65F in the room. We immediately turned the unit on and it took 30 minutes to come on then turned off after only 10 minutes. We called the front desk and they said they would send someone up. Took a while but the system eventually came back on and then the maintenance guy finally showed up. He said it would take about an hour for the room to warm up due to no insulation in the outside walls. The first night the heat seemed fine. The second night, we woke up and the room was back at 65F. We also called the front desk for fresh towels or second day there, an hour went by and we had to call down again. 30 minutes later, still nothing. My husband had to end up going down to get them and she gave him two washcloths and two hand towels instead of full sized. Will not be returning anytime soon if ever.

    It’s beautiful throughout! Very helpful and friendly staff. Our room view was looking at a brick wall with windows. I think the rooms price should reflect the terrible view. Or at least let me know at booking so I know what to expect or offer and upgraded view for more money. This was a very special trip for my 73 year old mother and with the caliper of hotel this is, My expectations were much higher with the advertised pictures on the website. It should have said no view in this room at all. We felt disappointed with that one thing, Which was kinda a big thing for us. Also the lobby and restaurant were freezing, everyone had to eat breakfast with our coats and hats on. They should have brought in additional heater to offset the lack of heat in the restaurant at least. We were experiencing colder than normal temperatures, but they should have been prepared for that.

    Location. Corner room It’s the little things for me. Our room did not come with a coffee maker. I called three times on hold for 30 rings. No one answered the phone we went down to the desk told them we had no coffee maker. We had everything else but the coffee maker they said they’d bring one right up, never heard from them never got a coffee maker. Not enough towels in the bathroom for the two of us customer service can be improved.

    The front desk staff person was amazing and positive. The young women that did our valet both coming and going was so positive and helpful. Coming we had many bags and the cart that we loaded was difficult to get over the step part of the door, not user friendly, but she helped lift it with us. She also gave use easy directions to a light show that was on the Wisconsin ship.

    What’s even worse, the waiter who served us during breakfast kept making impatient noise when we had some confusion regarding the addons on the omelette. After an unpleasant ordering process, the waiter took the order wrong and we waited for another 20 minutes for them to remake the omelette before we gave up and just canceled that order.

    Hotel is beautiful, staff is friendly, gallery is gorgeous, rooms are interesting, bar is great, location is awesome. I think this is a really great boutique hotel option for Norfolk! Short walk to my favorite wine shop, some great restaurants and bars. The hotel itself was a little bit noisy? Mostly just building stuff but I remember being woken up a few times throughout the night with the AC/fridge, not entirely sure but it was lovely otherwise!

    Everything was wonderful except the bed was really firm so my husband and I both couldn’t sleep well and woke up with sore backs unfortunately. That and the AC shutting off, making the room very warm overnight added to the discomfort. Everything else was a dream!

    second time staying here but will most likely be my last. the hotel is starting to seem run down. i stayed in room 609 and the remote was so overused it was almost impossible to use and change the channels. also my sink was leaking the whole time i was there. at first i thought it was my negligence, but then later figured out the sink was leaking and saw the tape they’re using to try and temporarily fix the leak. i brought the concern to the front desks attention when i checked out, and i was told an engineer would address it, but i wasn’t accommodated at all. the rooms are $250 plus a night, and i would expect better accommodations. i felt slightly devalued as a customer and prob won’t be back.

At the front, there was a lovely young lady who was very friendly. I must say, she made my stay extra special. I wrote her name down, but I cannot find the paper. I felt she understood my concern. She was so caring and very professional. She changed my room. I felt very comfortable telling her about my discomfort, as I know that Marriott Hotels has a reputation — they aim to satisfy their guests. I used the hotel’s self parking. My only concern there was that there was no parking attendant, and the elevator was initially out of service — but it was fixed in a timely manner. The hotel’s central location is nearby restaurants and shops. During my stay I told my daughters, who decided to get a rooms and one of my daughters told her best friend who also had a room! The lobby area is ver inviting and relaxing. The food served in the onsite restaurant is exceptional — fresh and tasty.

    Before I even arrived at the hotel, a huge red flag popped up. I came in from Philadelphia, I have never been to Norfolk in my life. When I arrived it was around 930pm and raining buckets. I called the front desk to obtain a landmarks near the hotel because my Uber driver could not find the hotel at all. I asked the front desk attendant was there a federal building near the hotel. She responded “Yes, there are several federal buildings in our area”. I asked, can I have a name of the one Glass Light, she just didn’t answer my question. I hung up, with literal steam rising for my head. My Uber driver and I drove around for another 10 to 15 minutes and I just got out and walked in until I was able to find the hotel. So, this hotel does not have self service ice machines or stocked ice bags in common areas for guests to grab at their convenience. Therefore, the procedure is the request given a bucket of ice at the front desk or a bucket of ice is bought to the room. Everything was going smoothly when they were mailed at the front desk. On my second or third morning there I walked into the lobby after exercising and asked a female front desk attendant for a bucket of ice. She looked me dead’s in my eyes and stayed, “Do you need that now or can someone bring it up to your room?” I was taken back by her response and I said bring it up to my room. My eyes never came in the attendant told me to walk back to the kitchen and ask someone for it.

    My second time staying at this beautiful property and just as great as the first time. Great downtown location near everything and I love the Lavazza coffee in the rooms.     Second concern is the room we have had holes in the floor that were just covered by carpet. When you stepped there you would sink into the hole; for someone who is not steady on their feet this could be dangerous. On a positive note, the hotel is very unique and the staff, especially the valet, are very pleasant.

I was with my wife, so this was not that big a deal, but if I was with a friend or co-worker or something it could have been very awkward. Second, the bathroom door was a sliding barn door, and there was no fan. So even the slightest noise was very audible, which again could be very uncomfortable. I don't particularly like to be heard in the bathroom. The walls in general were pretty thin - we could definitely hear another couple either above us or on one of the sides. Not sure which direction, but it was noticeable.

    We had an amazing stay. Staff was superb and courteous. Room service was quick and easy. Will stay here again for a longer period and take advantage of the valet for sure.

    well the property is very nice…except for the bed i was to firm for me and my wife we left early didn’t want to stay the second night we were in town for my wife’s birthday. we live about one hour and a half away so we forfeited the second night and returned home.

    We love coming to the glass house. The rooms are nice and clean. Breakfast is always good but understaffed today. It took 1.5 hrs to get food. No hot coffee refills due to the guy had all the tables to himself. We went up front to pay . I did ask ahead of time for a corner room but they were unable to accommodate. We will still continue to use this hotel.

    Classy hotel. Decor was amazing but needed to be dusted. The deadbolt did not work in the first room I had so they moved my room as requested. No complaints. Relaxing stay. Convenient location.

    Beautiful property & rooms. Very convenient to shops & dining & entertainment. Staff was very quick & accommodating. Only complaint i would have is that the room service staff didnt seem to pay attention to certain details. Coffee in the room wouldn't be stocked, dirty coffee cups left behind & it was extremely obvious they dont put fresh sheets on daily.
