The AC in the main entrance was not working for 5 of the 6 days we were there, which was not an issue personally, but is an indication of the maintenance of the facility. Lastly, the toilet seat was so loose it was unusable. I tightened it myself and did not ask for maintenance. Won't stay there again.

The newly renovated building is awesome and the kids love the new basketball court outside. The gas fire pit was lite when we returned from dinner at the Mall across the street from shopping. Our family sat around the fire pit outside and enjoyed the hotel with pure relaxation. Some family enjoyed the inside clean pool & I chose the fire pit and a nice glass of wine. We opt for the first floor and we did not hear anything as far as noise so I will always stay on the first floor. Thank you Residence Inn for making my visit a very easy & happy visit to Virginia for my nephews graduation at ODU. The trip was well worth it coming from Dallas, NC!

Room was clean! Gym had weights, a strength machine, two treadmills, one elliptical, and one stationary bike which were in good condition. The pool was warm and clean. It was better than the photos! Staff was super kind from the very accommodating breakfast folks, wifi maintenance, and front desk folks!

- HVAC was not working in the common areas and not working properly in the rooms. - There was a bag of spilled food in our hallway for over 24 hours. Then after the bag was picked up, the actual food was still there for another day. - We had water stains on a comforter, dishes weren’t clean, and the bathroom cabinet was crooked. - I also had an issue with our bill after we checked out. Hotels.com advertises this property with “free self parking” but when I got the bill they charged us for $5.00/day for parking. Which I find funny because it’s not a high traffic location. Just seems like a small way to nickel and dime you. To their credit, they adjusted the bill after I called to raise my concern. However, we had positive interactions with the staff during our stay. The issues with this property seem to be management/ownership driven.

The front desk associate was very rude I had to settle for a room that I didn’t book I will never book there again if I had to deal with her and I was over charged for the room I had to settle for it was just a disappointment from the start. It was very close to my work area and it was a lot of things for kids did we were close to where the hotel was I didn’t like that called the wrong as why they called 911 and I was kind of confused

Clean spacious room with functional layout. Lots of electrical outlets in convenient locations. Kitchenette area well stocked with dishes and cooking implements, full-size fridge, etc. Room had an ethernet cable, which came handy when wi-fi glitched (as it did often). Wi-fi - so-so. Initial sign-on took several tries regardless of device used (laptop, tablet, cell phone). Once on, it seemed to keep the network connection, but the signal was often weak. Breakfast was served very early for leisure travelers and, disappointingly, there was not even a tea/coffee station left for guests to use throughout the day - seems like that would be easy to maintain and such a nice convenience for the guests.

I am now sick from the smoke filled air that came through the vent above the bed as well as the vent directly shooting in my face in the shower. My husband couldn’t take a full shower due to the same issue. We called the front desk twice but was told there was nothing they could do since maintenance smelled nothing in the hallway. Asked for them to enter the room—no response. So as we checked out I asked the front desk to come with me to see the smell and upon opening the door the lady couldn’t even walk in it was so thick. Nicely updated. Bed was comfortable and the lobby area was nice. There were some small baby roaches coming from the dishwasher in the kitchen of our room. This suggests that it was being treated but it didn’t feel good, especially for the cost. The air conditioning was a bit confusing at first. Not very good directions.

The stove was a little worn but most guess don't know how to maintain a glass cook top. Hotel should switch to a Comercial grade cook top like the Wyndham resorts have.

Their pet deposit is absolutely insane I had to pay $150 just to stay there one night with my pet. I have stayed there twice now. The first time we stayed 3 days this time could only stay one and still had to pay $150 needless to say I will not be staying there again.

I’m not typically a fan of hotels, but this place had absolutely everything you could think of …full kitchen, bedroom with door separate from the living and kitchen, a shared outdoor space, and an indoor pool. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

We were first given a room with a broken air conditioning unit. I called and they came to the conclusion that we needed another room. I was then given another room which wasn't the same room that I had, which then lead us to being moved again. The inconvenience was was very upsetting. The staff handled the situation very professionally, it was the inconvenience.

I stayed at the Marriott residence inn Newport News, August 28 2021.First inspection of the room was okay, I stayed in a two bedroom suite. As I checked the bedrooms I saw what appeared to be blood on a white comforter.Went down to the front desk because they were very short handed. The front desk clerk gave me a pair of gloves along with plastic bags to remove the bedding. She also gave me all of the clean bedding to remake the bed myself.Needless to say I did so from the carrying the bedding and changing the bed. I was staying in the area for a big event. After changing my own bedding and disposing of the blood soiled comforter, my hair was a complete mess.So I ended up attending my event looking like a hot mess!!! I asked to speak to the manager but I was told they don’t work on the Weekends ! This was a wonderful place to stay during our trip to Virginia. It had a kitchenette with everything you would need to fix your own meals if you wanted to. The room was clean and very comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. After this stay I am definitely going to stay at more Residence Inns! I would highly recommend this hotel!

I specifically searched for a 2 bedroom suite so that I could have my handicapped mother nearby. These are hard to come by and I was thrilled to finally find one after a lot of searching. When checking in we were told there was an “issue” with the room and they gave us 2 kings instead. The rooms were also at the very far end of the hallway which made the trip to the room very difficult and slow as we navigated using a walker. Needless to say I was not thrilled with this arrangement but we made do. Thankfully nothing happened during the 1 night stay. The breakfast sandwiches were also terrible. The biscuits were petrified as was the cheese. There were also no handicap parking spots when we arrived.

I didn't like it being pet friendly, the dog barked and sniffed me the owner said it dont bite. The rooms were spacious and clean.

The next night was even worse, apparently the rowdy neighbors decided to invite some obnoxiously friends over for a 2:00am (yes that’s correct) basketball game right outside of our window. Acting as if it was mid afternoon, they were screaming and cursing. To beat all, one of the noises neighbors was yelling at and really screaming in the hallway. When I called the hotel front desk to report the issue, I believe they sent someone out to break up the game but the cursing went on for a while. Needless to say, this may not be the typical situation at this hotel but please keep in mind, if you want privacy and quietness, do not get a room near the basketball court. Beyond that major issue, the hotel and staff we attentive to the cleaning and upkeep seems to be on par for the cost.

Our room was awesome. It had everything we could possibly need. I wish we could have stayed longer. The Lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. I had booked through Travelocity and did not see the fine print about there being an additional $100, non-refundable, fee for a dog. We didn't check in until midnight and were leaving at the 11am check out time, so she did not charge me the fee. I only had one small Chihuahua who barely leaves my arms, but thought that was very nice and professional of her to do for me. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to everyone!

The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. My room was especially quiet. The breakfast and weeknight “happy hour” has a nice variety of food to keep you going. I will definitely stay here again when I am next working in Newport News.

I am so shocked by the good reviews of this hotel. There are several to pick from within a .5 mile radius and we picked this one because it had the best reviews. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. We love Residence Inn typically wherever we go because of the spacious rooms with kitchens, great staff and good breakfast. While the room was clean and spacious that is all I can say that was a good about our stay. The room was not ready when we arrived at 6:20; which is 3 hours after the normal check-in time and we were not the only ones. There was a large party and the people were hanging out outside the front of the hotel and in the hallways making lots of noise until 3:00 am. I have a one year old daughter and the sound woke her at 2:40. The breakfast was the worst I have seen at any Residence Inn. It appeared that they just threw what they had on the counter so we went to Cracker Barrel instead. I was very disappointed with our stay and the lack of the staffs efforts to make it enjoyable.

It was a very clean room. We had plenty of space. We had some noise from the furnace, which was very abrupt. The bed was super soft and so were the pillows. The water pressure in the shower was minimal and inconsistent. Our room was on the fifth floor. Showering on Wednesday morning (8am) wasn’t bad. We had enough hat water and water pressure adequate. Showering Thursday morning (7am) was very disappointing. The water pressure in the shower was a dribble and the water was lukewarm at best. We used the laundry facility, which was clean and handy.

I checked on late and was immediately offered late check out. The concierge last night was very friendly and helpful. The room is large and very comfortable.

The was debris under and between the sofa and coffee table. The chair had an odor and the sofa was stained and well worn. The carpet was stained. The bathroom and kitchen were clean.

Stayed in a one bedroom suite. It could easily and comfortably accommodate six. Plenty of space.

There was bed bugs in my room and management did absolutely nothing to accommodate me but inconveniently move my room as if it was any better she was rude and came off as a racist no surprise here in this country state of mind they are everywhere smh! She even told me pest control said that there was residue of bugs present yet there was nothing done about it she didn’t want to give me a copy of anything stating that, let alone I have all the proof that there was BED BUGS in my room from that hotel videos pictures bite marks & all. She wanted to simply shut me up and lie about having a infestation of bed bugs I know what they look like and if you see one that is enough for a red flag... the nerve of these people... management sucks and need to be Re-evaluated

I searched your site for a pet friendly hotel. No where on the booking did it have to click on a pet. After they arrived the clerk was waiting at the door and gave my daughter attitude for trying to "sneak in a pet", she also told my daughter she could kick her out and charged my card a non refundable 100.00 pet fee. I went back on the website and nowhere did I see anything about a non refundable fee. I am not too happy about this!

Excellent place to stay in an upscale environment. The food was fantastic! The room was exceptional! I will be back.

Stayed in town during holiday to be near family. Jefferson Ave is very central and this would also be great for those heading to the airport and needing to jump on I-64. Comfy rooms and nice to have kitchen and sofa in the room.

My only complaint was the excessive noise and partying from the rooms around us. Teenagers were running in and out all night and bumping into our door for about 4 straight hours. They were playing loud music and slamming doors non stop. Every time I looked out the peep hole, I saw 2-4 people at the door going inside their rooms to join the party. My daughters were nervous to go to sleep and their constant noise kept me up and checking things all evening. I called the front desk 2-3 times and finally around midnight things calmed down. The next morning kids were laying out in the hallway outside Thor rooms on phones while we were coming from breakfast and taking our bags down. I would give the stay a 7.5/10 because of the other rowdy guests and it taking the front desk so long to address the issue. If it weren’t for that, my study would have been 10/10. Next time I will ask if large children groups or functions are going on, and if so, request to be as far away from them as possible.

The building was very clean and the clientele quiet. We were here for a funeral and the quiet stay was comforting. We didn’t have much time in the morning!to eat so the quick buffet breakfast was appreciated. My wife and I will probably stay there again when visiting the area.

Room was clean and had everything we needed. Entire building was well maintained. Breakfast was good and the women that were working it were nice and made sure you had everything that you needed. I will definitely stay there again if I am in the area.

Excellent stay at Residence Inn Newport News. We arrived after 10pm and the check in was so quick, I was finished checking in before hubby could get our limited luggage onto a rolling cart! Loved the breakfast, the quiet hotel and the central location. We will be back!

I always stay at this hotel when I visit Virginia, they always have clean rooms, hotel staff is excellent, helped me with directions , ideas and very patient! Great breakfast ! The most important, the cleaning ladies from what I seen take their time cleaning the rooms !
