Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating its Art Deco vibe, friendly staff, and excellent location in Greenwich Village. However, there are consistent complaints about small rooms, lack of air conditioning, and issues with cleanliness.

I loved the location and the decor/vibe was very cool! I had trouble getting my room to a good temperature (it was very cold).

Lovely little hotel. Will return for sure. Amazing staff, everything is clean, food is great. There is a fan blowing cold air in the room that you can’t turn off. I learned that you need to ask front desk to close it. Also - hotel provides car service to and from airport. Super convenient and cheaper than uber. Enjoy!
- 5/5
Breakfast there is also excellent. We were very happy with our experience at the hotel!
- 5/5
Adding a wall or door hook for bulky coats in each room would be very helpful.
- 4.5/5
This hotel is more on the traditional side with lovely touches - coffee and waters in the lobby - and really friendly and helpful staff. The room decor (at least the doubles/queen rooms) is a bit tired and dated, but overall a very pleasant stay and slept very well and quietly on the upper floors. The rooms are on the smaller side though have been told the King rooms are larger - good to note for next time. Will stay again. The Double/Queen rooms are on the smaller size and have not been renovated.

I can't say enough about this hotel. I spoke with Grey on the phone beforehand & she was so wonderful. From the front desk staff, the bellman-who was super helpful & even brought us welcome cookies to our room, the nice room, all of the amenities, housekeeping, they all went above & beyond. This is THE MODEL HOTEL. I will never forget all of the thoughtful extras. Thank you for making our trip to Greenwich Village Unbelievable & Unforgettable! You are all truly the best!!!!

Style and location In areas lighting was too low (restroom stair case)
- 3.5/5
The elevators were very dimly lit but not as dimly as the stairs to the basement where the public bathrooms are. So dark one risks falling and breaking one’s neck. A ghastly and thoughtless piece of interior design. Descend at your own risk! By 4pm our room had still not been cleaned so never was that day as we’d come back to change and cleaner had gone home!
- 5/5
Our room was on the small side, but I realize space is at a premium in NYC and so it didn't bother me, especially since we were there to see family and were always out and about. It was a lovely room with a very comfortable bed and a really good shower. Honestly, this hotel just felt like home when we walked in the door. There were always guests hanging out downstairs, either working on their computers or just relaxing during the day, or having a cocktail while listening to live music in the evening--just a lively vibe in general and very pleasant. The restaurant and bar at the hotel were definitely a plus; we thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails and lunches we had there. The location is great with plenty of good shopping and restaurants in the area, and we felt very comfortable walking and accessing public transportation if we wanted to skip the cost of an Uber ride.

Fab location with cafe on site and daily water provided.
- 2/5
I paid in advance for three rooms under three name, but they charged one person on the reservation an additional and random 1,000 on check out. When she called to find out why first they claimed it was mini bar charges (would have been a lot of m and m’s) then that it was the charge for the stay. Again, it was prepaid. It took weeks and a half dozen calls to get it sorted and we’ve yet to see a refund . The hotel was fine and location solid, but I would never stay again and recommend others to avoid as it doesn’t seem like an isolated issue based on other reviews.
- 5/5
The lobby offers jazz nightly, where you can order drinks and food. The cafe is a great addition, as well as room service, which we truly enjoyed. The rooms are appointed in deco style with lots of character. Extra bonus (which we didn’t realize in advance) is that it’s dog friendly. If you want a small boutique with lots of charm in a terrific, walkable neighborhood, this hotel is the perfect choice.

Location was great! and everything was clean and staff was friendly The room was very small, couldn't open a suitcase anywhere without blocking the whole room/doorway. Wifi was very weak in the bedroom, nothing was loading The AC kept making a loud banging noise every 30-45 minutes - it woke us up every night. When we asked the desk to have someone look at it, they said they would send someone but it wasn't fixed. Our bedroom door broke and it took us 45 minutes to get back in

Although the room was on the small side, there were 2 queen beds and I think it was large by New York standards. They gave us $25 a day to use in their restaurant/bar and $10 a day to have a snack from the mini bar. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Very helpful staff. New York prices.

They offered a nice dining and mini bar credit for each night, free water bottles, free coffee and tea. Great location to what I wanted to visit walking-wise. Very helpful with accommodating to our needs. Mini fridge available if you need.
- 4/5
The staff welcomes you nicely, professionally, and helpful. Our room was upgraded due to some issues in another room so that was nice of them we appreciated that. They took care of my wife's bday welcome package which was really nice. Only things that were "negative" per day was the chair in the room had some wear and tear on one of the arm rests, the towel loop in the restroom was unscrewing from the wall, and the closet light was flickering. Nitpicking for sure but it's not a deal breaker. Location is great, beds are comfortable, and the breakfast is really good. All in all a great hotel and would stay again

Rooms were okay, they look better online. Elevators take forever to come down on. There are no amenities yet there is a $40 a day charge to use at the bar downstairs or mini bar. Didn’t love it and would much rather stay somewhere else next trip.

Beautiful decor. Great lounge space in lobby. Rooms are lovely. The heating situation wasn’t great. Our room was quite chilly & the heat was turned off for the season (late April) but it was in the 40’s out so we were cold at night. They brought blankets, which helped.

We stayed at the Walker Greenwich Village for 5 nights in April 2026. We opted for the Waverly King Room. At 220sf it was a good size for a couple. With only about 8 rooms on each floor, our room was very accessible. Upon check-in we were told there was no a/c "this time of year". Heat only and we could open a window if we needed cool air. Being from Florida, we like a/c. It wasn't terrible, accept the window only opened about 4". We didn't leave it open at night due to city noise, so it got a little warm the last 2 nights. The room was on the back of the hotel, so we had no street noise. The bed was slightly firm for my taste and there was not a lot of flat surfaces to store items, but we made it work. We think they should take the seat bench out and put a table or desk in it's place under the tv. Complimentary bottled water was plentiful in the lobby, with lobby coffee in the morning and hot cider in the afternoon/evening. Housekeeping service each day was terrific! Location to the subway was great. Our daughter lives in Brooklyn and the "L' train to Brooklyn was right around the corner. There is every store and restaurant under the sun nearby. The hotel has an evening happy hour with discounts, and music in the lobby. We would stay here again.

Breakfast was missing items when we got it to the room. Our shower drain must have been clogged because it filled up and took hours to drain. The hotel AC was out and my friend and I got terrible sleep our entire stay. The staff was wonderful. I like the bottled water available to grab at the start and end of each day during our stay. But, Overall, would not recommend.

Solo trailer fine, not ideal for two people nor 4! This room was cramped link no other, no air conditioning either so I wouldn't dare visit when its above 55. The offered a fan thank goodness. The staff were friendly and there was a live singer at 6pm each night. The restaurant staff were great and the food and drinks were good. The location was ok, Id pick as a tourist to stay closer to soho or closer to 8th ave near the Chelsea markets next time. This was close to subway thankfully but still a block plus walk. Good bagel shop and smoothie shop just around the corner.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon. The room was small, and not really anywhere to put your cases. We had four cases and which took up most of the room. The wardrobe was very small aswell. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

“The boutique hotel in New York City was a hidden gem—intimate, filled with charm, and radiating personality. Though the rooms were small and could have used more light, the bedding was wonderfully soft, and every detail created a cozy, inviting escape in the city.

The bellman at the front door from Jamaica provided excellent and professional service. He greeted us and waited patiently for other family to arrive with baby. He went so far as to stop traffic when the uber driver parked across the street and we had to cross with the baby. He helped to unload the luggage. I can’t say enough about how he made our arrival welcoming. A free drink or cocktail upon arrival. Channel guide made easier and a shower cap and nail/sew kit and toothpaste would have taken it to the next level. I forgot these items at home and had to leave hotel to find these items.

So first thing in the morning I said, when can you please fix that flashing red light in the ceiling and they said the electrician comes in at nine will have him take a look. I assumed that they did what they said they were going to do. But at midnight on the second night, I woke up and the red light was still flashing. I called downstairs. They said oh sorry we can move you to another room, but there’s no electrician till tomorrow morning. So two nights a bad sleep, something that signal danger flashing all night, long, and the person at the front desk, who told me that the electrician would have a look, was not telling me the truth. Or else she just didn’t tell him I don’t know, but really two nights of worrying and not sleeping

The room was very hot, and when I initially expressed the need for a fan, it was not honored. It was provided eventually, but it was still very hot. The pillows were very comfortable with softness but after a while they provided no neck support so I was quite uncomfortable on the 3rd night.
- 4/5
excellent location. Fantastic breakfast. Recommend springing for a view of the Empire State if the budget allows. Staff were wonderful. Love the deco theme. Our room was oddly musty and it was hard to determine the origin of the smell. The staff was incredibly accommodating and kindly brought us a freestanding AC but I wouldn’t have wanted to spend too many hours in the room itself.

I started in NY here. The lighting in the room was weak. You need more light. I didn’t see the why. So I probably will pass this next time I am in NY.

This is a very cute property in an amazing location. The lobby lounge is cozy with live music nightly, and the staff was friendly. The rooms were very small and had deep storage which made staying for 5 nights with 3 of us difficult. There were no dressers, drawers, and just a very small area to hang clothes. The room also had very large temperature swings that were difficult to control, it was either super hot or freezing. Overall this is a cute hotel, but the room comfort did not align with the price of the stay.

Location is the main reason I will book again at this hotel: central and very close to transportation. I enjoyed also the comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Breakfast was very tasty and a good value for money. Amenities inside the room need further improvement: the handle of the window was broken and air flowed inside. The personnel, though kind and responsive, seems a bit unexperienced and not completely at ease with the customers.

Location was great, food was good at the restaurant and staff was friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Room was on the small side and dark, lacked adequate lighting, since the room had 1 small window it didn’t get enough light in the room. No fridge in the room. The bathroom was spacious but lacked basic counters or even a small caddy table or shelves to put personal toiletries on. I expected a little bit more for the price. I chose the hotels based on the proximity to y daughter’s school.

ate a dinner there, pricey. Room was quiet but tiny. If you are a couple there's no room to put your suitcase. Very tight for 2 people, fine for one. Music in lobby in evening was a nice touch. Bagel shop 3 minutes away around corner. Complimentary coffee in the morning. Breakfast available at NYC prices. Great location, one block from major cross street, subway and bus. Staff courteous. All good except the exorbitant rate. A one time treat.

I liked everything about the hotel and stay except for the fact that when I booked through Expedia, I was told that all taxes, fees , etc. had been included, but when I went to check out, i was hit with a $40 "facilities fee" even though i had not used anything--minibar, breakfast, etc. This was highly disappointing to me, and when I complained, I was told nothing could be done about it, that this was their policy.

Defnitely like the quaintness of this property, however, I would have felt more comfortable with a little more security (i.e., front door locking late at night, room key needed to access floors,...) and if the property was clean and updated. That being said, the staff was friendly and helpful and I enjoyed the breakfast and available snacks.

Good hotel. $40.00 daily fee in addition to fee for room. They did have some perks for the fee. music at night in the lobby was nice. People were very nice. small rooms, but it is NYC. Good walking location.

Great locations for my purposes. Easily accessible and a fast, efficient check in. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Appreciated when one of the elevators went out of order it was repaired quickly. Room was fine for one. The desk was hard to use because the chair pulled out hits the bed and the curved leg area under the desk made it impossible to sit at an angle. A flat desk would be great in that small space. Other than that great amenities. Also ate at the restaurant every day. Staff was fast and friendly. Food was excellent every time. Would definitely be back

Walker is in a great location in Greenwich Village. It has a cool lobby and vibe. Our room was very small (normal for NYC) but had a loud A/C and a damp smell and feel.

Location suited our plan and staff were friendly. Amenities and transit were easily accessible. Jazz band in the lobby accompanied by fantastic Cosmopolitan's was a highlight in the hotel. Small room which we expected, but it was dark and damp.

Nice property in good location. There were a couple of issues during my stay (which I made the property aware of). Fire alarm went off early am, which was a false alarm but that was inconvenient. My room was very very warm. I think the building (older) has a hard time keeping up on AC so important to note for any summertime travel. I told them after night one which they gave me a fan and said they sent up someone, the fan did nothing (and was quite dirty). Room stayed at 80 during my stay, just too hot and uncomfortable for sleep.

It was terrible… The air conditioning was not working and they did not tell us upon check-in… Instead, they brought a fan to the room, which did not cool the room down at all… They moved us to another room, which was smaller, but the AC never fully worked in there either… everything was damp, including the rug and very musty

However, the air conditioning barely worked throughout the hotel. It was almost 34 degrees some of the days during our stay and we could never get our room cold enough and there was no cold water you could use for the shower. It was difficult to find any relief from the heat! Overall the room smelled strongly of mildew due to the moist humidity. Additionally the rooms were on the small side and felt a bit tired. The lighting in the room was very poor and when attempting to turn on one of the lamps it actually gave me a mild electrical shock. Overall the location is good and the overall “aesthetic” but there are some items I couldn’t look past in terms of overall comfort and functionality for the price and I wouldn’t stay here again for that reason.

We arrived before a well publicised heat wave yet were given a room with faulty air conditioning. Many, many phone calls and in person entreaties to reception we were fobbed off with stories that the engineer could not find a problem despite the conditioner registering 78 and even 80 degrees. We were given a fan (the hotel calls itself luxury) which barely coped and made the air conditioner go higher in its temperature. Finally, after four sweltering nights when the conditioner heated the room even when the heatwave broke, and it could not be switched off, we were given a room change with a working air conditioner. They then admitted that the room we had did have a faulty air conditioner. Lack of sleep made it all much worse, Other gripes include only one bathrobe for a booking for two. And then when we secured a second, the cleaning staff removed it the next day. The rooms are very small, beds are also small, so if you are over 5’6, you feet will hang over. It is also very dark. We won’t be returning. The final failure was the faulty fire siren which went off at 5am.

The air conditioning in our very small room was not working although uncooled air was circulating with a great deal of noise. We recorded (on cell phone photos) the temperatures that night of 80 and 81 degrees, intolerable and unacceptable for a hotel advertising air conditioning. As a traveler in my eighties I would never have booked a room with temperatures that high, as this is a risk to my health and well-being. The staff at the hotel remained as professional as possible although they failed to inform us at check in that the hotel's A/C system was broken. It was only after we complained to the front desk on our first night that the staff admitted that the air conditioning system wasn't working. We request a refund for the two nights during which we could not stay at the hotel and had to obtain lodging elsewhere.

The hotel for the price is below average. But the unacceptable part is upon checkin we were notified that air conditioning was not available and we should open our windows in the room. It was 80 degrees outside. The other issue is the windows only open an inch. So there was zero air This should have been disclosed prior to or upon booking so we could have made other arrangements. This made our stay very uncomfortable and we did not sleep at all

I was told that we had a daily $25 credit to use in the bar/restaurant. We spent over $300 over the 3 days and only received $25 once. Maybe I misunderstood but it was misleading.

I travel extensively, staying both at mid-range and high-end hotels. Having just spent a full week at the Walker Hotel Greenwich, we were very disappointed. For $500 per night, many things should have been better. It truly feels like a hotel operating without a hotel manager as the employees don't care about their jobs or the guests. I understand New York culture is more brusque than most of the US, but couldn't a single person make an effort during the week. The front desk was unpleasant checking in and out. Additionally, our room was so tiny (for $500) that there was no where to sit the luggage or store our clothes. The curtain rod was broken so it was difficult to open the window to get relief from the excessive heat. One morning the cleaning staff had a loud 10-minute party right outside our door while we tried to sleep. On my last visit to NYC, I stayed at a Four Points Sheraton for half the price and it was a much better experience. (P.S. The Society Cafe on-site is great.)

I am absolutely serious when I say how much my friends and I completely enjoyed our experience. The environment is fun, clean, and very New York...but shockingly affordable! I loved the thoughtful details down to the espresso martini available in the hotel room minibar. Cute. And I don't even drink. The rooms aren't big but this is NYC. My bestie and I shared a room and were perfectly comfortable. Cleanliness is important to me. Check that box again. My highest praise goes to the staff. I don't remember everyone's names and am so sorry for that. The lovely short-haired blonde person at check-in/out. Dale at the front door was so nice to talk with. Our server in the restaurant was perfect. This is coming from a table of those that work(ed) in the service industry. Peter, the guy in charge, gave us a fun little tour of the hotel highlights. He was the BEST and so interested in our experience there. We loved him and had great stories to share with literally everyone we have seen since. One last thing includes the pancakes. I'm not into pancakes but will eat them every time I return. Simple and perfect. I'll be back in NYC this Sunday and am booking The Walker. Our group will be visiting quite a bit this year checking on a friend. We all intend to stay at The Walker. Thank you everyone!

And the location was perfect for our needs. Not so perfect stuff - Had to share 1 bathrobe for the 2 of us. Not enough closet space. And the bathtub plug had a bit of a leak that we improvised sealing up with a facecloth. But the good outweighed those slight imperfections. So for us we give it a 5 star and look forward to coming back sometime.

Love the Gatsby Era feel of this hotel! We were greeted so pleasantly with a live lite jazz band playing and the girls at the front desk were so helpful. The beds feel like your sleeping on a cloud, definately the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in, and you actually have a comforter not a this bedspread. We wished we could spend more time here, we were only there for my sons surgery down the street, so we didn’t get to actually eat there. Really loved this hotel.
- 2/5
Next, I asked for a late checkout and of course the cleaning staff come into my room with do not disturb. Not once but twice!! Second lady had the audacity to ask me when my late check out was?! That’s literally the hotels service to figure that out and not disturb the guest?! I’m in bed?!? Then a man from the front desk,(who is dressed like a 2000s raver who I swore was there to kill me and not hotel staff since how in the world would I know without a name tag or any hotel staff like attire) came to my door to ask me why I hadn’t checked out?!? Why don’t they communicate with each other? Horrible feeling all around when all I wanted was sleep. Finally the straw that broke the camel’s back. I left something in the drawer of my hotel room (sure that’s my fault) I went back to get it after I checked out and they said it doesn’t exist?! It’s an expensive sweater so I get that it’s tempting to steal but I’ll never stay again after someone steals my sweater. There is absolutely no excuse that they don’t have it. 1) If they didn’t find it in the initial clean and the next guest stole it. It means they don’t do a thorough clean so that’s horrible. 2) If they did clean the room well, then someone in the staff stole it. So this hotel just sucks.

Amazing. THank you

Quaint, traditional village, clean, quiet, location.
- 3/5
The hotel lobby and restaurant / bar, as well as its location, are all very good. Unfortunately the rooms are not up to the same standard and are in need of an update. We were in a twin room but this was just a single room with two double beds squeezed in to it and the use of space, storage facilities etc were not so good. But the biggest issues we had with the room were the lighting - it is consistently dark, and the lamps are very low level, plus the windows are not big enough to properly let the natural light in - and the fact that there is an air vent constantly pumping out cold air that can’t be switched off (you have to have the very loud heating system on constantly to balance it out). All in all, we were sadly underwhelmed.
- 5/5
Beautiful property located in a safe, quiet area. I will come back soon !
- 4/5
Overall it was a great stay, and we’ve already talked about staying here again. The hotel was very nice, the area is extremely walkable, and the front desk was helpful. The only thing that we would change (my party had 2 rooms, each on a different floor) is that we found it difficult to sleep in as first thing in the morning there were a lot of slamming doors (we think to cleaning closets?) that woke up the heaviest sleeper in the group.
- 5/5
Thank you so much and hope to see you Christmas 2025. Nicole Divell and family.

Loved our stay, good for walking around the neighborhood
- 5/5
It was a nice stay. I don't care for resort fees when there isn't really a resort. You had a 20 credit for the cafe and 10 for in room food but if you didn't use that it went to the place. I wish hotels would get away from this and just charge the full cost of the stay.
- 5/5
Very nice quaint hotel in a nice area. Staff went out of their way to help. Restaurant was very good. Really nice atmosphere with live singer in the foyer in the evenings. Rooms were a little small and dark (lacking enough lighting in the room), but good for Manhatten.
- 4/5
We were disappointed with the size of our room as the pictures made it seem bigger. I know about wide angle lenses. However, the beds were comfortable. My only comment is $10 for a side of bacon & another $10 for sausage is way overpriced. I know this is NY, but don't like to feel ripped off. Overall, it was a great location for us to tour and enjoy Christmas in NY.

lighting in bathroom poor. No grab bars in shower. My sister and I are seniors.

Did not have a good experience. Staff was not interested in checking us in and did not seem knowledgeable about the hotel or the area. Room was tiny and very hot and uncomfortable. The hotel said they could not turn on air conditioning. We had to sleep with the window open which did not help much and made it very noisy and hard to sleep.

I've stayed here on two different occasions. I love the location and the hotel has a very classy and warm vibe. The common area in the lobby is very comfortable. The bar (happy hour) and food in the dining are very good. The staff is excellent and helpful.
- 4/5
Cute boutique hotel in a great neighborhood. Room was average - on the smaller size but typical for downtown Manhattan. The hallway was dirty but room was clean. The elevator was slow and only one worked so it took forever to get to your room. The restaurant and bar is lovely with a great vibe.
- 2/5
The wait to get into my room was extremely long. Hotel should offer early check in
