Thompson Central Park New York, by Hyatt
About Thompson Central Park New York, by Hyatt
A New York Classic, Remastered. The property offers a combination of suites and rooms with varying views and low floor options. Designed to accommodate work and play, our rooms have been upgraded with refined finishes — warm woods, sleek marble, jewel-toned pops — and unexpected touches, like sculptural ombré lighting, ribbed wall detailing and an inventive geometric étagére. And starting in early 2022, our guests can also expect an elevated New York experience from our Upper Stories collection of rooms and suites perched on our topmost guest floors. Thompson Central Park New York is within 1640 feet of Carnegie Hall, the Museum of Modern Art, Central Park entrance and Radio City Music Hall. Just off the lobby, you’ll find Chef Manish Mehrotra’s signature restaurant, the inventive Indian Accent, which has consistently ranked high in Zagat, Time Out and Eater. And for a quick bite, our incognito Burger Joint outpost has long been a beloved best-kept secret.

I like the design and the ambiance The service Charged me twice and was not very accommodating Requesting room service multiple times and not getting what I requested
- 5/5
A perfect location, walking distance to the Broadway theaters without having to stay in the Times Square area and it's very close to Central Park, Rockefeller Center, City Center, MOMA, shopping, restaurants, etc with easy access to subways. Two parking garages right next door. The Studio Suite King was large and modern. The bed was super comfortable with crisp Sferra sheets. Justin at the front desk was amazing. He helped with a special request and was pleasant and very attentive from the moment we arrived to when we checked out. A++ for Justin. He really helped to make our stay a success.

All night we could hear the high pitched noise of the elevator zooming up and down .

We loved our stay here! Close to Central Park and shopping. We were on a high flour with access to the Lounge which was nice.

Great location, spacious rooms, nice bedding, friendly staff. Very quiet for the city. Appreciated the nespresso machine in the room and quality toiletries. Restaurant offered very delicious dinner options and friendly service. Would have appreciated a coffee station in the lobby or access to real milk or cream for the coffee instead of powdered substitutes. A quilt for the pull out bed would have been nice instead of just blankets.

I loathe the "resort charge" that is added locally in US hotels. All it does is allow them to publish a lower headline price and then add their own mandatory additional charge when you arrive. If the hotel has a pool and provides towels then there is arguably some justification, but for a city centre hotel its just an unjustified surcharge with tax added.

Breakfast is a little expensive, but its New York i think!

Great location and hotel

Room on 21st floor was nice size with couch, an easy to operate shower and very comfortable bed, Gym was exceptional. Quiet as NYC hotels go. The dirtbags reeking of cannabis as you enter from 57th Street lounging on the chairs; no way to sugarcoat it: get them out of the internal entryways if you want to be a 4-star type property.

I stay at the Thompson Hotel every time I come to NYC, and it never disappoints. The food is absolutely amazing. The rooms are always nice and clean, making the stay comfortable and relaxing every time. One of the best parts of the experience is the front desk team. The representatives are always friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful. Their professionalism and positive attitude truly make a difference. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NYC and looking for excellent service, clean rooms, and great food.
- 4/5
Overall, this is a very nice hotel in a great location. But when you pay this much, your expectations really go up. The room was large and the bed and furnishings were very nice, but the bathroom was very small with nowhere to set clothes while showering and the front desk staff was snarky about lending me an umbrella (“don’t you have one in your closet?” In fact no I do not). Other staff were much nicer and the fitness center is quite nice by NYC hotel standards. It is nice to be on a quiet street (by lower Manhattan standards) and we walked to Broadway shows, museums and Central Park easily. Perhaps I expect too much for $600+ per night.

Location was perfect. Close to everything we wanted to explore. We stayed in a King Studio Suite and it was very spacious for 3 of us (2 adults 1 10 year old). Big glass shower. Full size toiletries. Nice little coffee/kitchen set up for us to have a place to sit other than our beds. We were on the 14th floor and although we did not specifically request a high floor, I’m glad we were high up because you could still hear street noise on the 56th street side. The burger joint was a good lunch while we waited for our room to be ready. The lobby bar happy hour with live music was really enjoyable before we headed out for dinner. Wonderful stay! Nothing

- 4/5
Great Stay, convenient location. Friendly staff.
- 3/5
The whole place felt retro fitted and like an older hotel that's trying to be something that it isn't. Friendly staff but the Thompson in Nashville is a much nicer property.
- 4/5
Mixed feelings about this hotel- the staff is amazing, rooms are large for NYC and nice and well appointed. Great quality shampoo/lotion etc in rooms. The hotel is large and has lots of great amenities- on property spa, fitness center plus free access to Lifetime fitness across the street , dry-bar, nice bar /lounge area to work or drink and relax with table service , room service 24/7, on site restaurants. And the location is great. What is not good: the building is old (clearly renovated but the HVAC and windows show their age- the HVAC spit some sort of soot or mold onto my suitcase and clothes- and into the air I was breathing. The fitness center in the hotel has no windows and apparently poor ventilation (smelled of sweat when I walked in- could remedy this by walking across street to lifetime); the smell of burgers cooking on a grill (from the burger joint restaurant on site and below) was so overwhelming in my room (opening window made it worse- apparently the restaurant may be venting to the space my window faced)- but they moved me to 20th floor and that helped. In short- not sure I would stay here again. But it is a really nice hotel other than the noted issues. The Thompson in Nashville is fabulous and this one is not nearly as good (to be fair the Nashville one is in a new building).

The hotel itself was great. We enjoyed the lounge, room service was great as well, and their spa services too. The only complain is about the house keeping, I had to call twice for pods for the in room coffee machine , they would clean the room without replacing the coffee machine items. There were no cups in the bathroom. A piece of garment from the suitcase disappeared from the room as well. Location is central but not exactly near Central Park, but rather a few streets away from it. You could see the Central Park from the upper levels hotel hallway but not from the room. The food was great. I really enjoyed everything except for the housekeeping, they need to improve that.

Stylish, modern hotel with an excellent location steps from Central Park and Midtown attractions. Clean, well-designed rooms with comfortable beds and a lively yet upscale atmosphere. Friendly staff and convenient access to dining, shopping, and museums. Rooms can feel a bit compact and city noise is possible, but overall a solid choice for a comfortable stay in the heart of Manhattan.

Great property. View from room was nice. Having lounge access to beverages and hot/cold snacks on the afternoon was great after a long day around town. Hot breakfast was super tasty with great coffee and fresh crisp croissants. Vast selection of breads and bagels. Room is decent size. The only down side is the bathroom; not having a glass sliding door made us “mop” the floor with the shower towel/rug all the time and having to step into a wet towel everytime you go in and out of the bathroom is not the best. Not having hooks (at all) made if difficult to hang toiletry bag and ve able to maximize use of the limited counter space at the vanity. Similarly the single towel rod was not enough to hang two people hand/ face towels and shower towels si towels were mostly humid. Apart from that, everything else was great. Staff was amazing, and detail oriented.

One of our rooms wasn’t ready on time (3pm), we had dinner reservations and this ruined our itinerary for the day.. Upon checking in, they hand you the room key and that’s it.. There’s no run down on where hotel amenities are at, how to connect to wifi or just any questions in general. The check in staff seemed frustrated and more in the mood to just get everyone off their lobby by sending them off to their rooms upon checking.. I placed a bad review and the manager Pavel messaged me saying he would give me a call but didn’t. Also, both of our rooms had a horrible view from the window. Lastly, room service is very expensive and they charge fees so pay attention to that. We ordered room service twice and the second time, the food arrived cold and late.

Location is good. The lady at check out was night My room had clearly not been cleaned for a while. There was hair on the toilet and dust everywhere, which my girlfriend is allergic to. More importantly, the bathtub was clogged and overflowing. Finally, the curtain was broken and could not be opened (so there was no light in the room). After asking for help three times, someone from engineering came to try to fix it and said it couldn’t be fixed.

First, they demanded a reservation number. I was at a meeting, my wife had to call me, I gave the reservation number. Then they demanded a different reservation number. She called me again, I gave the different number. Then they demanded a screenshot of the reservation. She called me again — third interruption of a meeting! I sent a screen shot. Yes, I could have added names to the reservation (but Hotels.com doesn't make that simple). But no, it shouldn't be this difficult — and certainly, your agent at your upgraded checkin station should be be so rude. If we wanted the Holiday Inn experience, we would have picked a Holiday Inn.

The flooring in our room was buckling. There were dips in the floor and it felt cheap.

We were accommodated when requesting a room with a tub shortly before our stay and it made a big difference after pounding the pavement all day! Every staff member was friendly and helpful, room clean and quiet.

The concierge, Stanley, was very helpful. The afternoon lounge snacks weren't very good, and there wasn't much that was gluten free for my husband.

All that I didn't like (see below nightmare experience) completely overshadows any positive aspects of our stay. Thompson Central Park New York, by Hyatt is the WORST hotel of all-time. In mid-September 2025 my wife and I had a five-night stay at this hotel. Upon returning to our home (we live overseas), upon checking our bank account, we came to see that over-charges in the amount of USD 3,632.28 were made by the hotel to my credit card. I telephoned the hotel and pointed out in detail all the over-charges made to my credit (to which the front desk staff person said he would get their accounting team involved) and I demanded an email response back from them confirming that the over-charges to my cc be released/cancelled. It's now almost one month later and there has been no response back from the hotel. I have had to get my bank/credit card issuer involved thru filing with them a formal cc charge dispute, which will take another 4-6 weeks to run its course. Our stay at this hotel was an unmitigated disaster, an absolute nightmare which I am still living thru. Thompson Central Park New York by Hyatt hotel does not deserve to have any customers and should not be in business.

What a gem! Rooms were clean with a great view of Central Park and the Lounge access was perfect for our family.
- 5/5
This hotel is in the perfect location to the park, Lincoln Center, Carnegie. Great shopping and restaurants. The area is more neighborhood-like and not touristy. It is an excellent hotel in all respects. A perfect spot to come home to after a busy NYC day of adventure.
- 5/5
Location was great and the service was off the charts. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The room was comfortable and tastefully appointed. The staff was stellar!

Room layout awkward
- 5/5
We moved over to Thompson and were very happy with our stay.
- 5/5
Spacious, nice natural light, quiet, very pleasant breakfast downstairs. We'll be back.
- 5/5
Great staff, hotel and location.
- 3/5
Good setting close to central park and a ten minute walk to Time Square.
- 5/5
Convenient location, walking distance to various subway stations, grocery store behind the hotel and ramen place in front of the lobby.
- 1/5
The property is not four star. The rating is misleading
- 5/5
It exceeded our expectations!

Great experience!

Really enjoyed this hotel. Very clean & cozy. So convenient to a lot of the spots we were trying to go to. The staff was so friendly & the rooms were very cute. Loved our stay here

Enjoyed stand . Lots of great amenities. Centrally located for where we needed to be. Felt safe. Couple things… not everyone likes ‘foamy’ coffee, robes and towels NOT soft- scratchy, no safety features for bathtub- slippery.
- 5/5
Loved our stay at the Thompson! Close walk to Central Park, cafes and restaurants and the subway. Very convenient and safe, and we couldn’t hear any noise in our room. Will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
The restaurant is decent - the food is tasty and the coffee is good, but the menue is rather short on options. Still my vegan wife was able to find dishes that worked for her. There are planty of good dining options in a short walking distance around the hotel and of course in a short ride distance too. To sum it up, it was a good stay for us and we'll come again on our next visit.
- 5/5
We loved this hotel! It was the perfect place to relax after coming in off an international flight with extreme jet lag. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The location is fantastic. The food was fantastic. The actual room and bathroom were fantastic.
- 5/5
Centrally located with an Exhale studio on site.
- 5/5
Amazing staff
- 5/5
Stay in general was very comfortable and staff were professional and quick to help the only thing that bothered me is the parking as it take so long to get the car as advised the parking garage serve several hotels around and for the price I noticed that there are cheaper price using several parking garages near the hotel

Will stay again
- 3/5
The Thompson Central Park’s location can’t be beat — steps from Central Park, great shopping, and Broadway. The bell staff were fantastic: warm, helpful, and the only part of the stay that truly felt like 4-star service. Beyond that, nothing was wrong, but the overall experience didn’t match the “luxury” label. Service in other areas was polite but not exceptional, and the on-site restaurant feels dated — it’s very dark, and the chairs are overdue for an upgrade. For the price point and brand, I expected a more consistently high-end experience.

Very friendly staff and very nice sized studio suite

Lovely room, clean, convenient

Eddie was amazing during check in. I had arrived before check in time on a red eye and he found me a room right away. So grateful!!
- 4/5
Close to main touristic places and Central Park. The room was OK but windows extremely dirty. Perhaps it is just what New York is like. Breakfast extremely overpriced for what you get served. Instead I suggest any nearby place that you can find on Google.

It was okay

Baño no muy bueno pero el resto ok

Great location!
- 3/5
The bed was noticeably old and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s rest. The room layout was not suited for business travel, with limited workspace and a poorly designed bathroom. The sink and surrounding counter space were minimal—barely adequate for one person, let alone two. Even the towels felt thin and worn, which only added to the sense of neglect. Surprisingly, no bottled water was provided in the room, and I had to call to request one. At this price point, that level of detail should be automatic. The executive lounge breakfast was underwhelming—standard continental fare that didn’t match the expectations of a premium hotel. Worse, the atmosphere was disrupted by staff vacuuming near guests without consideration, making it nearly impossible to hold a conversation. In short, if this were a $150–$250 per night hotel, I might overlook some of these shortcomings. But at this price—and for a Hyatt property in such a prime location—I expected more. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

Great location and service

Ok, denot a 4 stars hotel
- 3/5
Front desk staff and lobby personnel are super personable and welcoming. The room was a good value for the price, but we experienced flooding from the shower which made using the entire bathroom a bit treacherous.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed this hotel. We were on a higher floor and had access to the lounge. The room we had was beautiful, comfortable, and so stylish. The lounge was great and I wish we had more time there.
- 5/5
Stayed here many times. Always lovely.

Great
- 5/5
The hotel was great and the high floor lounge was great! One suggestion, the hotel is classy and expensive. The lounge is a perk for people paying for a higher price one let the guest have a free glass of wine or beer. Don't charge them in an "honor" bar style. Very tacky. Not to mention , you're serving crap, $15/bottle of wine so it costs you $3.00/glass to give a guest a glass of wine. Just food for thought. Otherwise the hotel and lounge were great!!

My kids and I checked out with a couple bites on legs arms and chest.

The rooms were great and a nice size. Centrally located to everything and easy to get around the city. Staff was extremely helpful and nice. I will definitely stay here again!

Nice and convenient. The lobby bar ambient light was wonderful in the afternoon.
- 5/5
We stayed for a night at the place. Clean, fast check in/out. No complaints. Close to the park.
- 4/5
Was to be texted when room was available but never got text even after check in time. Few amenities in the washroom. Paint peeling in washroom

Wonderful
- 5/5
Hotel was wonderful. The staff were excellent.3rd floor lounge was a highlight and surprise for me. Food was great and loved the atmosphere to watch Wimbledon.
- 1/5
Shower was half of a glass door, Aesthetically pleasing but not practical. Even when the shower heads were used properly, the water got everywhere. All over the bathroom floor, we had to pay for the coffee pods and other “complimentary” amenities like the coffee cups, pods, sugar and packaged creamer. The staff was nice, but the unexpected fee’s are ridiculous and not worth it. It’s not complimentary if we have to pay to use it.

Great stay. Very quiet. Very nice size rooms. Great dining options too.
- 5/5
Had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It’s very clean, modern, and conveniently located to the best shopping in the city. Walkable from Broadway and close to Central Park. I definitely will return for future stays.

Very nice hotel, great location however there was construction when we were there.

Great location. Major road construction on hotel street, messy & somewhat inconvenient. Tiny room, 2 dbl beds for family of 4 with 2 teens. But great view! No hooks to hang towels & coats etc. No storage to place luggage & things. Room had dirty floors, broken thermostat & non-working mini fridge - misinformed by rude staff, told us it’s a dry bar & fridge not meant to be cold, lol. Then maintenance brought small fridge, rudely told us to place & plug somewhere in room with already limited space, smh. Other maintenance rudely told us to remove do not disturb sign if we call for service. Management was helpful, offered new room but only 1 bed plus couch-bed. Most staff was friendly & helpful. Great lounge, with complimentary beverages & food/snacks. Very small gym. Would consider staying at this hotel again in future but definitely need more space with appropriate storage & hooks etc.

Had a watch stolen from my room upon checkout. Rest of the stay was perfect, I was bummed to have this happen when I visit so often I thought I had found my place!
- 5/5
Everything was great but think dinning room which is multi purpose needs a little rethinking on furniture. Tables very difficult to sit at.
- 5/5
All good

Will be back soon
- 5/5
Quick check in process, our room ended up having a leak and the manager, Brian, went above and beyond to remedy the situation which was much appreciated. Room was nice and clean, modern and comfortable. Location was easy to get around.
- 5/5
Great Property! Loved the hotel and the area.
- 5/5
Trip with my teenager to explore NY. Great location and staff. We booked 3 days in king suite on 19th floor. Needed to a day and ended up on higher floor for much higher cost. Supposed to be same room type, but it bathroom and room were smaller and not as nice. Don’t recommend spending the extra on higher floors unless you want lounge access.
- 2/5
Room was cramped, acceptable for a room one third the price. The facility was not worth the cost. I resent being hit with a surprise resort fee especially considering the fact that there was no resort’. Too many staff expecting tips, this is getting out of control. My advise to a traveler is to keep shopping.
- 5/5
Absolutely fantastic place, from service, to location. The staff were incredibly nice and accommodated every request perfectly. Really can't say anything bad, terrific place.
- 5/5
If you want the full NYC experience, this is the place to stay! Within walking distance of Central Park & all the midtown sights. Staff was outstanding & the lounge (Parker’s) has a really good vibe & was a great place to get a cocktail. We will definitely be back!
- 5/5
Great stay. Comfortable. Recommend upgrading to the included breakfast option
- 5/5
Fantastic location and super friendly staff! Thank you for having us!
- 5/5
The location, room, and staff were great. The room was very spacious for NYC. The elevators were puzzling- very automated!
- 3/5
Location is good. Room was very disappointing. Advertised as a suite - I got a small room on fifth floor - loud constriction noises.
- 4/5
Amazing location! Easy walking distance to a lot of places of interest. Helpful staff.
- 5/5
Very well located. Breakfast available. L ip
- 3/5
Lack of compassion, not helpful, way over priced for what was offered. I will not be staying at any Hyatts in the future if I can help it. Should have gone with Marriott instead. Paying more was a mistake based on what was offered. If you don’t get to their “free” breakfast early good luck finding a place to sit. You can’t take the meal to your room you ending up standing to eat… it ridiculous. They care more about getting clean plates outside and never worried about keeping coffee stocked and cold still water available. Normally not a big deal however if you are going to pay over $700 a night there are expectations.
- 2/5
The staff was generally not nice. Thisngoes from the server at break fast to the reception crew. Alex at the reception refused our ask for a late checkout, even with our offer to pay. But kater when we asked a other receptionist they agreed.
- 5/5
Easy check in, held our bags prior to that as a courtesy. Wasn't able to get our three rooms near each other despite requesting in advance, but I'm sure it's not as easy to map out as you might think- not a big deal. Responsive when needed assistance. Only critique would be the shower - surprised to see curtains and a tub versus glass enclosures modern day. Room was spacious.
