Reviews
The hotel has a mix of modern and vintage decor, with beautiful common areas and comfortable rooms. However, there are inconsistencies in service and cleanliness, with some guests experiencing issues with room access, cleanliness, and staff responsiveness. The location is generally praised, but noise from the bar and street can be a problem for some.

The staff were Amazing! Very friendly and helpful! The property wasn’t terrible, it was going for a hip vibe but it was just not at all worth the price we paid, even for New York! The room was clean and relatively quiet given that the Knicks had won Game 3. We weren’t thrilled with Roku and the inability to watch real news channels or at least we couldn’t find them ( MSNow. CNN). Was great to have a fridge in the room. Probably a more ideal hotel for younger people, not older couples/families. Great staff!
- 4/5
I was on the 2nd floor so it was a bit loud with street noise but otherwise, a nice stay.
- 5/5
The best hotel in NYC. Views were amazing, super clean, laundry and water facilities were awesome. Elevator was a little slow but that was the only thing.
- 5/5
Perfect location, quiet, the bar is super fun, great atmosphere

We’ll see you soon Martin and Gavin 😘 x
- 3/5
Small, expensive and spartan room in midtown east with lots of street noise. No amenities other than a water cooler at the end of the hall (paper cups). No key-they text you a six digit code for the room and front door, a touchelss/phone based option would be nice. . No desk in room, no art on the walls, no clock, full size bed and a concrete floor. The shower doesn't have a full door so the floor gets wet. Nice staff and convenient location but nearby Hyatt is a better bang for the buck.
- 5/5
Had an awesome stay! Clean room, helpful front desk, and they held our luggage for us before check-in and after check out. Keke at the front desk was AMAZING!
- 5/5
Staff was super friendly, they let us leave our bags with them for some hours after our check out.
- 5/5
I accidentally dropped my precious keychain on my way out to the airport, and the front desk staff notified me that I had dropped it and even offered to hold onto it until it was back in my hands. Kiki, you the goat!
- 4/5
Overall it was a nice hotel right in the heart of midtown. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The fact that there were free washers and dryers on the premises was fantastic. Just one note of caution, keep in mind this hotel does NOT have 24/7 front desk service. So if you expect to arrive late in the evening, make sure you have a working cell phone to receive the texted code to get in. For some reason, I was locked out of my phone while overseas, therefore I couldn't receive the code. Knowing that I would then be locked out of my room in the middle of night , I had to make other arrangements for the first night. But as I said, I have no complaints about the night I did stay.

Our room had everything we needed for our stay comfort beds and great shower, we were out from 9am till 8pm- so mainly used for sleep/ showers.
- 5/5
The staff was delightful, the hotel is in a great location, the room was comfortable, and they even had free laundry facilities.
- 5/5
Great location, amazing staff and very roomy spaces. Great restaurant/pub Shakespeare for a quick bite.

Thanks William Hotel for hosting us during our week celebrating my daughter's NYU graduation. Great place and location for all things New York. Laundry available for no charge, filtered water, great front desk staff (Claudia). Would definitely recommend to others. The hotel has an upscale lounge in the lobby floor and a bar and grill under the hotel. Great Stay!
- 5/5
Super service, me and my daughter enjoy our trip!

Super friendly staff...good location...cleqn rooms and property
- 5/5
Very convenient location. Excellent staff, very helpful and friendly. Large rooms with everything you need. Added bonus was the complimentary laundry facilities.
- 4/5
Great property, great staff
- 2/5
There is no one at the front desk until 9am and the code for the front door was broken. For the fee you’d expect a better experience. The room was adequate but felt more like a nice college dorm in the hallways and the room. Will not stay again.

Staff were very helpful, rooms spacious with all amenities needed. 10/10
- 5/5
I loved this hotel so much! it was my first time visiting New York and the staff was super helpful. The atmosphere is very classy. What I enjoyed was the fact that I never heard anyone on my floor. I knew there was some other people staying in the other rooms on the floors but I never heard them or really saw them. It’s a very lowkey stay with a beautiful restaurant and bar. It was very clean and the amenities were all easily accessible such as filtered water, laundry, and microwave. You just have to have detergent for the laundry.
- 5/5
We cannot say enough about Keke. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a good stay. Keke recommended places to eat, met us early so we could drop our bags and is just the nicest person. The hotel was clean, beds are very comfortable and great location for walking to all the tourist attractions. We loved the Raines Law Room for drinks. We highly recommend staying here while in NYC.

Everything Nothing
- 5/5
Such a great hotel! The location is so convenient, rooms are sooo spacious and the staff are lovely. My friend and I felt so safe here. Also a big plus - the elevator worked seamlessly. I’m claustrophobic and it didn’t trigger any concerns because of how smooth it operated.
- 5/5
Special shout to the manager, Lilandra & front desk worker Ebony, they were exceptional. Very rarely do you find customer service that has integrity and care! The facilities was nice, not a huge fan of the rugs in the room, but the queen superior with the balcony is spacious, great location in NY! Will be returning when the weather warms up so I can use that balcony!
- 5/5
The room exceeded our expectations. There was a washer and dryer on our floor and a microwave on another floor for any one to use. The receptionist Keke really helped ensure our stay was top tier and was so helpful giving us tips for places to check out. Highly recommend this hotel. Will definitely be staying here the next time we come to NYC. Also, we were celebrating my birthday and they left a lil treat for us which we thought was so cute and thoughtful!
- 5/5
Wash room was unexpected but free and easy to use with washing pods available at the front desk.
- 5/5
Great spot in mid town. Charming downstairs lounge and right above a great British pub too!
- 5/5
Excellent!!!!!! Extremely clean. Very large room, We had the king suite. The staff 10/10 big shout out to Kikee excellent customer service ❤️
- 4/5
All was well and good except for the size of the bed. It was advertised as a queen-size bed; but it was only a double bed.
- 5/5
Our room was very generous in size and quite modern. We had a small refrigerator in room and there was purified drinking water available in a dispenser located next to the ice maker one level below us. All in all, a great place to stay.

- 5/5
our stay has been amazing, all the details, communication and customer service exceptional 👏
- 5/5
It was quiet at night, the staff were so kind and friendly and welcoming, and super helpful whenever I had a question. The room was perfect, the bed was super comfy and the pillows were just the right firmness. They even offered tide pods to use the washing machines! Don't wait until your last night to check out the pub in the basement either, definitely worth a visit. It's also super convienient for Grand Central Station. It's one of those hotels you want to tell everyone about because it's so good, but at the same time you want to keep it secret for yourself.
- 5/5
Extremely friendly staff, clean rooms and centrally located within walking distance for NYC Manhattan signtseeing and broadways. Will stay there again.

I enjoyed my stay. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Staff were excellent. Room was a little on the small side but hotel well located for midtown.

Great value and great location
- 5/5
Fully equipped kitchen. Friendly staff. Easy check-in and check-out. Very close to the subway. Would definitely stay again :)
- 5/5
Very spacious for a NY hotel and the staff were all lovely. Room was very clean - corners of the shower could be cleaner but overall still good. Great closet space and comfortable bed!
- 4/5
We stayed here for the reasonable price and the location. We loved being walking distance from a lot of things: Korea town and the theater district, and a short subway ride from Little Italy and Chinatown. The room was small, but clean. The bed was a double so you are cozy with your partner. They had a free laundry room which we appreciated and purified water there. All in all a very nice stay.

- 5/5
The perfect spot in the heart of the city. It is a small hotel so once you are inside, the crowds are gone. The staff was amazing, especially Keke. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
- 5/5
Hotel was clean, freshly painted and very stylish. In a great location for most attractions and has a great cocktail room and downstairs bar. Staff were extremely helpful at all times and very polite and friendly. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend to family and friends. Great experience overall.
- 5/5
The room was exceptionally spacious and quiet, with both a coffee maker and an electric kettle. While the lobby seemed to be a happening place at night, the noise didn't reach the second floor. The hotel is very well located. Some people might find the steep brownstone steps difficult to negotiate with a rollaboard suitcase, but I had a duffle bag and had no difficulty.
- 5/5
Very nice room! Really liked that there was a bar in the bottom floor, making the hotel a unique experience, especially for couples. Staff was nice and welcoming.
- 5/5
Our first impression when we walked through the door was, "Ut oh." It really was dark, even tho it was mid-afternoon. And the elevator was tiiiiiny. But our rooms were amazing! Kitchen with small cooking stove, refrigerator and a coffeemaker with plenty of pods. The receptionist told us that the "library" rooms on either side of the entrance hosted events and weren't really part of the hotel (something was going on and I asked if it was a reception event for customers thinking I could get a cocktail). I worried it would be noisy because we were the next flight up, but we heard nothing. The place was VERY quiet, which surprised us. We came in one night after a walking marathon adventure, and asked if we could in one of the rooms for a night cap. We couldn't, because a business rented the space for an event, but the host very nicely said we could order from him and brings our drinks up - which was BETTER than having them downstiars! Location-wise - this place was PERFECT! We walked everywhere! It was so central. We'd absolutely stay again.
- 2/5
Rude person at the door. Hotel looks run down.
- 5/5
What an amazing hotel. Beautiful, spotless, had everything you would need. From reception staff to cleaning staff polite, welcoming and very helpful. A complete gem in midtown NYC. Would 150% return and would recommend without a doubt. Thank you.
- 3/5
But too many glitches—TV did not work, too few towels, nonfunctioning soap and shampoo bottles, etc. Overall not ready for prime time
- 4/5
The best thing about the William is the delightful staff - huge shout out to Keke and Claudia for making us feel welcome and ready to meet every need. The elevator broke during our stay requiring us to use the stairs - which was not ideal due to mobility issues. The staff kept us updated on repair status. Our room was small, modern and had sunshine streaming in. Unfortunately next to the laundry area where oddly two nights in a row other guests decided to do laundry and have loud conversations while doing so. There is a popular bar on what would be the lobby and at one night was a private party - so a bit odd to try to enter hotel and your room. It is not an ideal hotel if you need to work remotely - but I did take a few work calls from the bar area which is open during the day and my co-workers asked if I was on the set of the reality show, The Traitors. :)
- 5/5
Ground-in dirt on carpet & scuffs on floor, otherwise very clean
- 3/5
The staff was pleasant at the check in . There is a small lounge off the main entry that we poked our head into. We were met with a scowl by room host who directed us out and told there was no chance he could seat us without a reservation. The room was clean but smelled so badly of bleach that we had to open the windows and leave until it could air out. The mattress was uncomfortable, as well. Very disappointed, given the description.
- 5/5
Great location Amenities are fantastic, water filter, laundry and microwave Room was clean and spacious Definitely staying here again and would recommend to anyone staying in NYC
- 5/5
Space was great. Really appreciate having a tub as an option. It’s a little tight in parts of the bedroom area but it does what needs to be done. Loved having the streaming accounts as part of the TV and not limited to some arbitrary channels. I would say that the outlets for plugs was out of the way. That was my only real complaint. Lovely stay. Reasonably priced. So close to so much.

Awesome place to stay with walking distance to NY attractions. Will definitely stay again
- 3/5
Nondescript room without a desk to work at--a scrivener's stool and a bit of space next to the coffee machine. The room that looked beautiful in the photo was off limits for a private event. No lobby or general area--the rooms below are all a public bar. Seemed very popular with young people.

Disappointing
- 5/5
The only complaint I have is that the amenities like hooks on wall and the shelf holding towels above the bath tub were too high for me as I am not quite 5 feet.
- 4/5
Fantastic location. 3 small blocks from Grand Central Station. You can get anywhere from there. The room, lobby and bar were all very clean and well decorated. The room was really small. It's a remodeled brownstone so a large size wasn't expected really, but smaller than expected. Water didn't get very hot but was warm enough. The room temp, however, was difficult to control. It was hot most of the time (no matter what you set it at) and if you just turned it off it would click.

The location is great & the room reasonably comfortable with a kettle & fridge & microwave. Loved that there was a bathtub - disappointed that the bath plug was not functioning so couldn’t use it. It was very impersonal - everything is done through remote interaction. Also there was a bank of cabinets outside our bedroom window which hummed loudly all night. Room was small for two & had no desk & not enough electric sockets for work. Didn’t like the absence of housekeeping.
- 5/5
This hotel was unique and hard to fault in anyway. The photos online are a true & fair representation of what you get. They do not mislead. This is a keyless hotel (they provide access codes the day before). The rooms offer so much space which is hard to find in manhattan for such a reasonable price. (Obvs prices are subject to change but I paid around £900 for 4 nights for their best room). I also booked a room for friends that was a superior room but not the penthouse. That was around £800 for 4 nights and was equally spacious and comfortable. The rooms both had kitchens, bathrooms, good quality mattresses, dining tables and all the amenities you'd expect. There are large tvs with Roku & apps like Netflix etc. The hotel doesn't run like a regular hotel. There is no house keeping servive at all during your stay. This is actually not a big thing to me as I usually put a "do not disturb" sign on my door anyway when I'm in hotels. The front desk is manned all day and if you need extra towels or more coffee pods for your room then they are happy to provide you with as many as you want, every single day if you want it. The staff are super friendly and they even dropped me a text message after my first night to see if we had settled in OK and to check we was happy with the room I have been to New York more times than I can count, and this by far is the best accommodation I have ever found within my budget. Location is fantastic too.... walking distance to mist landmarks midtown. And 2 blocks away from Grand Central if you want the subway to travel further distances
- 5/5
I hesitate to share this as I want to make sure I can easily get a room next time I'm in the city. It's a great set up. Super central location and lots of breakfast options nearby. Loved the amenities. Staff were wonderful. It took me a while to realise I could use my phone/bluetooth to unlock the door which made the process even easier. Solo visit this time but I would bring my kids next time for sure. The Shakespeare downstairs was also great, staff went our of their way to make me feel welcome.

Good location in Midtown New York, close to Grand Central station. Staff are friendly and happy to assist with any queries checking in. Room is large with ensuite bathroom. For the amount it cost to say there ($600+ per night), the value for money was terrible. The room is whitewashed concrete, so despite being large, it had no character and felt very soulless. My room also wasn't cleaned during my 2 night stay, and there was no breakfast or food service available in the hotel. There is a british pub below where you can buy lunch & dinner.
- 4/5
I traveled for medical reasons the staff could not have done more for me whilst I stayed with them, they were beyond kind
- 4.5/5
Great location in East Midtown, close to great bars and eateries and a few minutes walk to the subway/bus. Surprisingly quite due to location of room away from the busy streets of NYC. It’s accessed via a very cool select entertaining venue, which meant at times the steps to the building were difficult to access and doormen operated. This was only an occasional issue but did make it difficult to get in or out at times. Definitely would not stop me from staying again.
- 4.5/5
As an old social club, the building is beautiful, and it's amazing to have a speakeasy with multiple rooms downstairs. Very friendly workers who will get you whatever you need. The room was comfy with lots of light. The hallways and elevator, in the dead of summer, could use some sort of air whether a conditioner or fan. Not a dealbreaker, but sometimes waiting for the elevator can get very hot. But that was my only gripe!
