Reviews
The St. Regis hotel offers a luxurious guest experience with impeccable service, well-appointed rooms, and fantastic in-room dining. However, the hotel was under construction during some guests' stays, leading to a disappointing experience with closed lobbies, restaurants, and bars, as well as issues with room readiness and hot water. Additionally, some guests found the hotel to be overpriced for the value received.

Historic hotel I got a room with zero light and zero view. It felt so claustrophobic I had to leave after one night. Despite the opulence and the butler, I just could not take looking into a shaft.

The service is amazing, the rooms are beautiful and the beds are very comfortable, the famous King Cool bar is fantastic with a great vibe, they offer a delicious breakfast and the hotel has a lot of history, I recommend it. Compared to other luxury hotels, and in terms of quality and price, it did seem a bit expensive to me.

Our stay was incredible! The staff was welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. Mirsada provided outstanding service and attentiveness. The rooms are elegant and well appointed but could benefit from a facelift. The King Cole Bar was fun and the drinks were delicious (albeit pricey). Use of the house car is a big perk and our driver was gracious and accommodating. The service and overall experience are tough to beat!

Beautiful room and corridors incredible location Found the staff particularly at reception quite cold and rude. There is no communal area to sit and enjoy a drink and you have to queue to get entry for the bar which is far too small. For this type of price I would expect a much better experience from the staff and better facilities in communal areas. Really disappointing to be honest

One of the beatiful places I stayed in. And for sure I am going to repeat this experience more often. The cleanness, the house keeping, the room service all are satisfying me. The hospitality is marked. I realy enjoied the stay with the fantastic location of the hotel. The entrance and lobby area is very small, no area available for enjoying the atmosphere of the hotel with a cup of coffee, the in-dine food is not as the level of taste of the other Helton chain hotels.

The architecture is absolutely jaw dropping. You will feel like you went back in time because the decor and amenities look like they are brand new even though they are intricately ornate Edwardian designs. This hotel looks like it's from a fairy tale both inside and out.Astor thought of everything. Every little detail in this place is impeccable. The staff is extremely friendly and thoughtful and their service is excellent. They carry your luggage and walk you to the building with an umbrella if it's raining. They carry your luggage up to your room. The concierge desk helps you with whatever you need. It was my mother and my birthday and they were so thoughtful and hooked us up at another restaurant for her birthday dinner. They gave us a personalized birthday card and treats. They gave us a tour of the basement which has historical artifacts and photos or autographs of many famous celebrities who came to stay to perform at the venue in a previous decade. If you are a fan of luxury, history or VIP treatment this is the place for you. If you want to experience luxury

The location Since that they say, the kitchen is under refurbishment, they had only a few cold cuts and salads etc to eat for breakfast or lunch and dinner. There is no coffee or tea in the room. There is no complimantory toothpaste, shaving kit etc. u have purchase them at the minibar. Our room was next to housekeepers room. They made so much noise in the mornings. Almost no lobby setting in the hotel. The bar closes at 23:00. And we paid over 1100 usd/day for this so called 5 stars hotel.
- 3/5
This time however, the room was not to our standards at all. The shower flooded. Our rooms decor was really worn and dated. Their breakfast was lack luster. The bellmen and doormen were great. The front desk upon check in was not very welcoming. We wouldn’t be staying here again I’m afraid. For the price you pay vs the service you receive doesn’t balance out. The St Regis should be downgraded to a 4 star property rather than a 5.

Check in staff was not friendly or accommodating. Requested down alternative pillows at check in and had to call at 11 pm that same night because they still had not been delivered. Room staff very kind. Doormen never at front door to assist during stay in getting car service . Concierge Pete was great. Destination fee add ons not really usable at $50 per day. Because booked through Hotels.com you don’t receive points for status. Not worth $1100 per night, not even close.

N/A Had an extremely unpleasant experience with staff member David at the hotel. He spoke to me extremely rudely and although I tried to have a proper conversation he behaved in a very intimidating and spoke in a verbally agressive tone . It really ruined my evening I was nearly going to cry. The other staff members in the hotel reception just looked and didn’t stop him. He even raised his voice in front of other guests in the hotel. I’m never going back to this hotel again. I’ve never experienced such behaviour and wouldn’t expect it from a 5 star hotel.

I had lost my debit card while traveling to this place and they failed to uphold my reservation. I still did have valid ID and the room was paid for. They did not offer any solution except to cancel my reservation. I was left in new york the entire night without accomodations or any way to return home until the next day. I am entirely disgusted at the way I was treated by the staff and management at this place, and entirely disappointed that the ownership lacks the decency to handle a simple situation as this one.

The property is lovely, but the experience suffered. I spent two nights in NYC. Here were the problems: (1) On the first night, a Bose radio went off prior to sunrise. I couldn't turn it off without moving furniture and unplugging it. And then trying to get back to sleep. (2) I was unable to control the thermostat so the room was much warmer than I wanted. I asked the staff to turn it down while I was out and they turned it down to 60 degrees. (3) Finally, when I left, I asked for my car to be pulled around. I gave them the requested 20 minutes notice, but waited 20 additional minutes for the car to come around due to an error at the desk. I know these are first world problems (believe me, I know), but you're paying the St. Regis to eliminate these errors, not to make them. I doubt I'll return.

Until the lobby/dining refurbishments are finished, the hotel has nothing to offer but a long walk through basement hallway. Seriously. The cost of this misery remained astonishingly high. My room, during a period when the hotel was not at full occupancy, was on the third floor facing an alleyway. You shouldn’t have to complain to receive a modicum of respect

We stayed for a couple of days/nights in one of their deluxe suites. The butler service was incredible, very courteous prompt, willing to help in any way. The rooms were very clean, in fact cleaned a couple of times during the day if we needed. They were working on the lobby. Although you needed to go to substitute lobby, all personnel were very nice directly us where to go. We can not wait to have our next trip into NYC & stay at the St. Regis

The room was clean and the location is amazing We knew about the renovation but there were zero options inside the hotel. No lobby, no bar, no restaurant, nowhere to have a coffee, no lounge.. nothing. Booking.com is selling rooms with executive lounge access... but there is no lounge. This is the only hotel in New York where you can't even have a coffee. If you want to visit this hotel; wait for one year at least.

This felt like a bait and switch. The hotel was under construction and the entire lobby and restaurant and bar were closed. Felt like a prison. The checkin "upgraded" us from our king to a "bigger" room. What a joke. it wasn't bigger just a room with two full beds that felt like they were mattresses bought on sale at kmart before they went bankrupt. She staff were indifferent. Absolutely not worth a grand a night. Expedia should have told us details of the construction before booking. I would have stayed at the four seasons.

The location and the room The reception was being refurbed which we was not told about. This made checking in slightly difficult. The room had some items loose or “scuffed” although very minor we didn’t expect these from such a prestigious hotel.

The hotel lobby and restaurants are all under construction. We were never notified of this ahead of time. In fact, we were getting emails about booking dinner in the restaurant which was not even open. Our room was not ready at 5:45 pm for check in. Instead of the 2 double bed room, we got a one bed and a roll away bed. Secondly, the hot water facet shut off after 30-45 seconds in the bathroom. There was no hot water in the bathtub. When we tried to place our breakfast order Friday evening for Saturday morning, the staff was rude and did not want to take our order. We thought we would have a wonderful weekend bridal shopping for my daughter. The hotel was a huge disappointment.

We chose the St.Regis for its famous lobby and bar and classic charm. We were not told until just before our arrival that the lobby was being renovated and off limits and the bar and restaurant were closed. We understand those are being modernized and the beautiful rooms will also be modernized. Exactly what we do not want, so we will not return.

Each staff member that helped us was wonderful. The only areas of improvement for the room were that there were no slippers and the televisions were very poor quality. The hotel I would give 5 stars. The room service food I would sadly have to give 2 stars. The food was AWFUL. Risotto was watery mush with no seasoning. Ordered an avocado tofu scramble which was beautifully presented but tasted like nothing, They do not seem to use salt or any other seasonings when cooking. Ordered a mixed selection of ice cream and it all just tasted BAD. Great hotel absolutely stay here but don't order food. We were being lazy and did not take advantage of the countless great restaurants in the city.

Such great expectations for this hotel but sadly did not produce a great experience. The hotel itself is very nice. Not as impressive as some of the others in the same category but very old school and well kept. Unfortunately that’s where it stopped. First of all, no warning of construction going on and my room was terribly loud with air hammer drills and workers yelling for the first three hours. Asked to change rooms but they said construction would be over at 5 and gone for the weekend. Feel sorry for the people who stayed through the week. With the exception of the front desk and the butler, service was horrible. Waited forever to get a table at Astor court, food took forever and the quality of food was horrendous. They should be ashamed. Chicken was room temperature and no aesthetic value to anything. Gigantic clumps of hair in the shower upon arrival which tells me nothing was cleaned. Took 20 mins to get a waiter for morning coffee, brings out my espresso and girlfriends cup then forgets the coffee. We never saw the waiter again. Hostess disappeared so I actually had to get the concierge to get the coffee. Most of this stuff is easy to forget if you’re at the holiday inn but not at this price point. These are the best hotels in the world and everything should be top notch. Stay at the Plaza or the Four Seasons this place was a joke

I stayed five (5) nights at the St Regis New York. I enjoyed every moment of my stay. From the moment I checked in, to the moment I checked out, I was always made to feel welcomed and valued as a guest. People knew my first name and would greet me as such when I returned from sight seeing. The door men out front of the hotel are keenly aware of who the guests are, and promptly open doors for you, ask if you need a taxi hailed, or simply smile and greet you in the morning. The butler and maid service was excellent. I requested coffee for each morning at 7 am, and that request was executed to perfection. The gym was on the small side, but was always well organized and clean. There is an attendant who is there to assist you. The Astor restaurant was also excellent and a little on the pricey side, but, in my opinion, delivered delicious food and was convenient for an early morning breakfast before exploring the city, or for those late evening returns to the hotel when my feet were hurting and i just wanted to relax in my room, the option to dine in the hotel was there, and I was happy for that. Other reviews mentioned difficult staff or snobbery. I did not once experience that vibe. Everyone, I mean everyone, was professional, kind, courteous and genuine. The location is perfect, nestled between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue, both major shopping hubs. Central Park and the train aka subway, are both about a 5 minute walk. I will definitely stay again. I highly recommend.

Room dining-their scanned QR code in your room might have different prices than the hotel register, your bill will come out with surprises. Make sure you CHECK! Late night noises-on this narrow street there were constructions going on 2am—5am, called the front desk and was told it’s emergency PG&E stuff, there’s NOTHING they can do. Overall, headache/stress to stay there the whole trip not be able to be myself during business meetings. My team and I travel to NYC often for biz, I will make sure St Regis doesn’t get our business ever again.

Everything put a smile on our faces, from the look of the room, the comfort of the bed, the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, to the quality of the food service, the thoroughness of their cleaning regimen. One of the best, if not the best hotels we ever experienced in New York.

There is a reason this is a top hotel… everything is impeccable from the building, the rooms, the services and the staff. They know quality and service. Just to get a feel, there is a butler for each floor. At the push of a button your complimentary coffee is swiftly delivered to your room. The rooms are definitely at the highest price-point but you’ll get the best.

Really iconic hotel. I loved the staff . Always helpful and very importantly very very honest . I left two very valuable pairs of gold earrings there and it was found and kept in security. Great iconic hotel . Expensive but worth every penny . Feel safe and good.

Great hotel! Great location! Just a comment on the daily housekeeping: they don’t replace/refill room waters or extras in the bathroom (listerine, cotton etc) Tom at the main entrance is amazing!

Poor show from a 5 star hotel. I verbally complained to one of your managers. Most disappointing.

Heater didn't work and they said we had to leave the room to fix it. Asked to pick up dishes when we went out and they never came. Bar and room service not available so had drinks and dinner at the very open Peninsula Hotel right across the street. If you aren't really open don't charge $1200 per night. Horrible experience! In fact this is the first hotel review I have ever done.

The interior and exterior were as beautiful as expected. The room was large and spacious - for NYC - pretty standard for my home state of Texas. The staff was for the most part, friendly. We had direct access to a butler which was nice, but we did not require his/her assistance very often. I understand and completely agree with tipping, but it was frustrating when you’d order room service, tip, and then they would ask for you to call the butler to remove the cart - another tip. It almost felt as if anyone as much as said hello to you that you had to tip. Come to find out they tack on quite a bit of gratuity with every item you order through room service anyways...for instance, two small (8oz) glasses of apple juice was $24 according to the menu, but on the bill they came out to $32 after fees/taxes. We expected prices to be high, but I’ve stayed at many other resorts/destinations for the same amount and you receive much more. Also, there was quite a bit of mold on our shower head - odd for this type of accommodation.
